Abstract

This system enables the placement of reference points for accurate position measurement with minimal burden on the user. [Solution] The information processing device acquires the relative position and orientation of the imaging device to real space based on predetermined features extracted from an image captured by the imaging device in real space, detects one or more reference points in real space, and acquires the coordinates of all reference points in real space in correspondence with each reference point. The information processing device also determines the position and orientation of a new reference point to be added to real space based on predetermined conditions, and modifies at least one of the detected reference point and feature positions based on the position of the detected reference point and the position of a feature in the vicinity of the detected reference point when predetermined conditions are met. The information processing device then informs the user of the position and orientation of the newly determined reference point in correspondence with real space.
