Abstract

The present invention provides a sustained-release pheromone formulation containing a pheromone substance, such as a sex pheromone substance, which is an aldehyde compound having 14 to 18 total carbon atoms and three or more carbon-carbon unsaturated bonds, wherein the release rate of the aldehyde compound remains constant throughout the pest control period, and also provides a method for controlling pests using the formulation. [Solution] A sustained-release pheromone preparation is provided, comprising at least a mixture containing a pheromone substance which is an aldehyde compound having 14 to 18 total carbon atoms and having three or more carbon-carbon unsaturated bonds, such as a sex pheromone substance, and an aliphatic acetate having a total carbon atom number 2 to 4 more than the total carbon atoms of the sex pheromone substance, and a container containing the mixture. A method for controlling pests is also provided, comprising at least the step of placing the sustained-release pheromone preparation in a field and releasing the pheromone substance, such as a sex pheromone substance, from the sustained-release pheromone preparation.
