[Solution] An iron golf club head comprising a face member and a head body 200 supporting the face member. The face member comprises a striking surface for striking the ball and a back surface opposite to the striking surface. The head body 200 comprises a receiving surface that supports the peripheral edge of the back surface of the face member, a frame portion 205 extending annularly on the back surface side of the face member to form a cavity, and a hosel 7 extending upward from the heel side of the frame portion 205 and defining a virtual hosel central axis. A cavity contour line CC is defined in a cross-section of the head body 200 in a virtual plane parallel to the striking surface, at a distance of 3 mm from the receiving surface to the rear of the head. In a rear view of the head in a direction perpendicular to the striking surface, the shortest distance D between the virtual hosel central axis CL and the cavity contour line CC is 16 mm or less.
