AI Technical Summary
Conventional projectors face challenges in achieving high-resolution image display due to the need for the liquid crystal display element and optical path shift device to operate at frequencies higher than the video signal frame rate, which is exacerbated by temperature-dependent responsiveness issues and potential demagnetization of magnets at elevated temperatures.
The projector incorporates a configuration with multiple panel modules emitting light along orthogonal axes, a light combining element, and an optical path shift module using actuators with magnets and coils to swing an optical path changing member, coupled with thermoelectric conversion devices to maintain panel and actuator temperatures within optimal ranges.
This configuration enables high-resolution image display by shifting pixel positions at high speeds while maintaining actuator and panel responsiveness, despite temperature fluctuations, thereby enhancing image quality and resolution.

Abstract
Description
[Technical field]
[0001] The present disclosure relates to a projector. [Background technology]
[0002] 2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, there is known a projector that can increase the resolution of an image displayed on a projection surface by swinging an optical element to shift the optical path of incident light (see, for example, Patent Document 1). The projector described in Patent Document 1 includes a light source, three liquid crystal display elements, a dichroic prism, an optical path shift device, and a projection optical system. The dichroic prism outputs image light that is a combination of red light, green light, and blue light incident from the three liquid crystal display elements, and the projection optical system projects the incident image light onto a screen.
[0003] The optical path shift device is disposed between the dichroic prism and the projection optical system, and shifts the optical path of the image light incident from the dichroic prism, thereby making the resolution of the image projected by the projection optical system higher than the resolution of each liquid crystal display element. The light path shift device includes a glass plate, a first frame for holding the glass plate, a second frame for supporting the first frame in a state in which the first frame can swing about a first oscillation axis, a base member for supporting the second frame in a state in which the second frame can swing about a second oscillation axis, a first actuator, and a second actuator. Note that the first oscillation axis and the second oscillation axis are perpendicular to each other. The first actuator has a magnet held by the first frame and a coil held by the base member. The second actuator has two vibration units, each of which has a magnet held by the second frame and a coil held by the base member. When a current is applied to the coil of each actuator, the magnet corresponding to the coil moves relative to the coil. This causes the glass plate to swing around the corresponding one of the first and second swing axes, shifting the optical path of the image light. By swinging the glass plate around each of the first and second swing axes, the pixels contained in the image light are shifted vertically and horizontally to four positions, thereby virtually increasing the resolution of the image light by four times. [0004] [Patent Document 1] JP 2020-91343 A Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]
[0005] In the projector described in Patent Document 1, when the resolution of the image light is increased by the light path shift device, it is necessary to operate the liquid crystal display element and the light path shift device at a frequency higher than the frame rate of the image signal input to the projector. For example, when the frame rate of the input video signal is 60 Hz, the liquid crystal display element and the light path shift device must operate at 240 Hz. On the other hand, the responsiveness of liquid crystal depends on temperature characteristics, and in order to make the liquid crystal compatible with a response speed of 240 Hz, it is desirable to adjust the temperature of the liquid crystal panel to an appropriate temperature in a short period of time so that it is not affected by the environmental temperature. On the other hand, when the temperature of the magnet increases, demagnetization occurs, making it difficult to operate the light path shift device at 240 Hz. Thus, in a projector equipped with a light path shift device having two oscillation axes, a configuration capable of displaying a pseudo high-resolution image in response to a high speed response is desired. [Means for solving the problem]

[0008] [First embodiment] Hereinafter, a first embodiment of the present disclosure will be described with reference to the drawings. [Projector configuration] FIG. 1 is a schematic diagram showing a schematic configuration of a projector 1 according to this embodiment. 1, the projector 1 modulates a light beam emitted from a light source 31 to form projection image light corresponding to image information, and enlarges and projects the formed projection image light PL onto a projection surface PS such as a screen. The projector 1 includes an exterior housing 2, and an image projection device 3 and a control device 6 housed within the exterior housing 2. In addition, although not shown, the projector 1 includes a cooling device that cools an object to be cooled, and a power supply device that supplies power to electronic components that constitute the projector 1.
[0009] [Configuration of image projection device] The image projection device 3 forms and projects the above-mentioned projection image light PL. The image projection device 3 includes a light source 31, a color separation module 32, an image forming unit 33, and a projection optical module 37. In the following description, the direction in which the light source 31 emits the illumination light WL is defined as the +S direction, and the direction perpendicular to the +S direction is defined as the +T direction. The direction opposite to the +S direction is defined as the -S direction, and the direction opposite to the +T direction is defined as the -T direction. The axis along the +S direction is defined as the S axis, and the axis along the +T direction is defined as the T axis.
[0010] [Light source configuration] The light source 31 emits illumination light WL in the +S direction. The light source 31 may be configured to include a solid-state light-emitting element and a wavelength conversion element that converts the wavelength of the light emitted from the solid-state light-emitting element. Alternatively, the light source 31 may be configured to include a discharge light-emitting lamp such as an extra-high pressure mercury lamp.
[0011] [Color separation module configuration] The color separation module 32 separates the illumination light WL incident from the light source 31 into three color lights: blue light LB, green light LG, and red light LR. The color separation module 32 includes dichroic mirrors 321 and 322, total reflection mirrors 323, 324, and 325, and relay lenses 326 and 327. The dichroic mirror 321 transmits the blue light LB out of the illumination light WL incident from the light source 31, and reflects the green light LG and red light LR in the +T direction. Dichroic mirror 322 reflects green light LG in the +S direction and transmits red light LR in the +T direction out of the green light LG and red light LR separated by dichroic mirror 321. The green light LG reflected by dichroic mirror 322 is incident on green light modulation module 35G included in image forming unit 33.
[0012] Total reflection mirror 323 reflects in the +T direction blue light LB transmitted through dichroic mirror 321. Total reflection mirror 324 reflects the red light LR transmitted through dichroic mirror 322 in the +S direction. Total reflection mirror 325 reflects in the −T direction the red light LR reflected by total reflection mirror 324. The red light LR reflected by total reflection mirror 325 is incident on red light modulation module 35R included in image forming unit 33.
[0013] The relay lens 326 is disposed in the optical path of the red light LR between the dichroic mirror 322 and the total reflection mirror 324, and the relay lens 327 is disposed in the optical path of the red light LR between the total reflection mirror 324 and the total reflection mirror 325. The relay lenses 326 and 327 compensate for optical loss of the red light LR caused by the optical path of the red light LR being longer than the optical paths of the blue light LB and the green light LG.
[0014] [Image formation unit configuration] The image forming unit 33 individually modulates the incident blue light LB, green light LG, and red light LR, and combines the modulated color lights LB, LG, and LR to form the projection image light PL that is projected by the projection optical module 37. The colored lights LB, LG, and LR that have passed through the field lenses 34R, 34G, and 34B are incident on light modulation modules 35 provided according to the colored lights.
[0016] [Configuration of optical modulation module] The light modulation module 35 modulates the incident color light to form image light according to image information, and emits the formed image light to the light combining element 36. [0017] Each light modulation module 35 includes a panel module 4 , an incident side polarizing plate 351 , and an exit side polarizing plate 352 . Specifically, the blue light modulation module 35B has a blue panel module 4B that modulates blue light LB, an incident-side polarizing plate 351 arranged on the light incident side of the blue panel module 4B, and an exit-side polarizing plate 352 arranged on the light exit side of the blue panel module 4B. The blue panel module 4B emits blue image light in the +T direction with a first axis Ax1 along the T axis as the optical axis. The green light modulation module 35G has a green panel module 4G that modulates green light LG, an incident side polarizing plate 351, and an exit side polarizing plate 352. The green panel module 4G emits green image light in the +S direction with a second axis Ax2 along the S axis as the optical axis. The red light modulation module 35R has a red panel module 4R that modulates red light LR, an incident side polarizing plate 351, and an exit side polarizing plate 352. The red panel module 4R emits red image light in the -T direction with the first axis Ax1 as the optical axis.
[0018] In this embodiment, one of the blue panel module 4B and the red panel module 4R corresponds to the first panel module, and the other panel module 4 corresponds to the second panel module. The green panel module 4G corresponds to the third panel module. The configuration of the panel module 4 will be described in detail later.
[0019] [Configuration of the light synthesis element] The light combining element 36 combines the blue image light incident from the blue light modulation module 35B, the green image light incident from the green light modulation module 35G, and the red image light incident from the red light modulation module 35R to form the projection image light PL, and outputs the formed projection image light PL toward the light path shift module 5. In other words, the light combining element 36 outputs the formed projection image light PL toward the projection optical module 37.
[0020] The light combining element 36 is formed of a cross dichroic prism having a substantially rectangular parallelepiped shape. The exit surface 36S is a surface facing the +S direction in the light combining element 36, and is a surface opposite to the green entrance surface 36G. The exit surface 36S emits the projected image light PL with the second axis Ax2 as its optical axis.
[0021] [Outline of the light path shift module] The light path shift module 5 is disposed between the light combining element 36 and the projection optical module 37. The light path shift module 5 shifts the optical path of the projection image light PL incident from the light combining element 36 to increase the resolution of the projection image displayed by the projection image light PL projected onto the projection surface PS. The configuration and operation of the light path shift module 5 will be described in detail later.
[0022] [Configuration of the projection optical module] The projection optical module 37 projects the projection image light PL incident from the light combining element 36 onto the projection surface PS via the light path shift module 5. Although not shown in the figure, an example of the projection optical module 37 is a lens assembly having a plurality of lenses and a lens barrel that holds the plurality of lenses.
[0023] [Panel module configuration] Fig. 2 is a perspective view showing the panel module 4 seen from the light incident side, and Fig. 3 is a perspective view showing the panel module 4 seen from the light exit side. Fig. 4 is an exploded perspective view showing the panel module 4 seen from the light incident side, and Fig. 5 is an exploded perspective view showing the panel module 4 seen from the light exit side. As shown in FIGS. 2 to 5, the panel module 4 includes a liquid crystal panel 41, a heat diffuser 42, a holding member 43, a thermoelectric conversion device 44, and a cooler 45.
[0024] In the following description, the three mutually orthogonal directions are defined as the +X direction, +Y direction, and +Z direction. In this embodiment, the +Z direction is defined as the traveling direction of light entering the panel module 4. The left direction when the panel module 4 is viewed along the +Z direction so that the +Y direction coincides with the upward direction is defined as the +X direction. Although not shown in the figure, the opposite direction to the +X direction is defined as the -X direction, the opposite direction to the +Y direction is defined as the -Y direction, and the opposite direction to the +Z direction is defined as the -Z direction. In other words, the +Z direction with respect to the panel module 4 is the light emission side with respect to the panel module 4, and the -Z direction with respect to the panel module 4 is the light incidence side with respect to the panel module 4. Moreover, an axis along the +X direction or the -X direction is defined as the X axis, an axis along the +Y direction or the -Y direction is defined as the Y axis, and an axis along the +Z direction or the -Z direction is defined as the Z axis. In the blue panel module 4B, the +Z direction is the +T direction, and the +X direction is the +S direction. In the green panel module 4G, the +Z direction is the +S direction, and the +X direction is the -T direction. In the red panel module 4R, the +Z direction is the -T direction, and the +X direction is the -S direction.
[0025] [LCD panel configuration] FIG. 6 is a diagram showing a cross section of the panel module 4 along the YZ plane. The liquid crystal panel 41 is a transmissive liquid crystal panel that modulates incident color light and emits the modulated color light as image light along the traveling direction of the incident color light. As shown in FIG. 6, the liquid crystal panel 41 includes a panel body 411, an FPC (Flexible printed circuits) 412, and a holding frame 413. The panel body 411 modulates incident light as it passes through the inside. The panel body 411 includes an optical action portion 4111, and an entrance side dustproof substrate 4115 and an exit side dustproof substrate 4116 that sandwich the optical action portion 4111 in the Z axis direction.
[0026] The optical action section 4111 has a liquid crystal layer 4112, and an opposing substrate 4113 and a pixel substrate 4114 which sandwich the liquid crystal layer 4112 in the Z-axis direction. The liquid crystal layer 4112 is formed by liquid crystal molecules sealed between an opposing substrate 4113 and a pixel substrate 4114 . The counter substrate 4113 is disposed on the light incident side with respect to the liquid crystal layer 4112. The counter substrate 4113 has a counter electrode provided on a surface facing the liquid crystal layer 4112. The pixel substrate 4114 is disposed on the light output side with respect to the liquid crystal layer 4112. The pixel substrate 4114 has a plurality of pixel electrodes provided on a surface facing the liquid crystal layer 4112. When viewed from the -Z direction which is the light input side, a region in which the plurality of pixel electrodes are arranged in the optical action unit 4111 is a pixel region PA, and one pixel is formed by the region in which each pixel electrode is arranged in the pixel region PA. The counter substrate 4113 and the pixel substrate 4114 are connected to the FPC 412, and change the alignment state of the liquid crystal molecules forming the liquid crystal layer 4112 in response to an image signal supplied from the FPC 412. In this way, the optical action portion 4111 modulates the incident light.
[0027] The incident-side dustproof substrate 4115 is a light-transmitting substrate provided in a portion corresponding to the pixel region PA on the light incident surface of the counter substrate 4113. When the liquid crystal panel 41 is viewed from the -Z direction, the incident-side dustproof substrate 4115 is provided on the light incident surface of the counter substrate 4113 so as to cover the pixel region PA and be capable of transferring heat. The incident-side dustproof substrate 4115 prevents dust or the like from adhering to the light incident surface of the counter substrate 4113 and causing a shadow of the dust or the like to appear in the image light. A heat diffuser 42, which will be described later, is connected to the incident-side dustproof substrate 4115. More specifically, a contact portion 424 of the heat diffuser 42 is in contact with a light incident surface 4115A of the incident-side dustproof substrate 4115 in a manner capable of transferring heat. The light incident surface 4115A is a heat transfer surface that transfers heat generated in the optical action portion 4111 to the heat diffuser 42. That is, the liquid crystal panel 41 has a panel main body 411 that emits incident light, and a light incident surface 4115A that serves as a heat transfer surface that transfers heat from the panel main body 411.
[0028] The exit-side dustproof substrate 4116 is a light-transmitting substrate provided in a portion corresponding to the pixel region PA on the light exit surface of the pixel substrate 4114. When the liquid crystal panel 41 is viewed from the +Z direction, the exit-side dustproof substrate 4116 is provided on the light exit surface of the pixel substrate 4114 so as to cover the pixel region PA and be capable of transferring heat thereto. The exit-side dustproof substrate 4116 prevents dust or the like from directly adhering to the light exit surface of the pixel substrate 4114 and causing a shadow of the dust or the like to appear in the image light, and also dissipates heat transferred from the pixel substrate 4114 to the outside of the liquid crystal panel 41.
[0029] 6, the FPC 412 extends in the +Y direction from the counter substrate 4113 and the pixel substrate 4114, and is connected to the control device 6. The FPC 412 has a driver circuit 4121 that drives the optical action unit 4111, and the driver circuit 4121 outputs a drive signal to the pixel substrate 4114 in response to an image signal input from the control device 6.
[0030] The holding frame 413 supports the panel body 411 and the FPC 412, as well as the heat diffuser 42, the holding member 43, the thermoelectric conversion device 44, and the cooler 45. As shown in Figures 3 and 5, the holding frame 413 is formed in a rectangular shape that is long in the Y axis when viewed from the light emission side. Although not shown, the holding frame 413 has openings through which the light incident on the panel body 411 and the light emitted from the panel body 411 pass. The holding frame 413 has four through holes 4131 penetrating the holding frame 413 along the Z axis. Although not shown, arms of a support member provided on the light combining element 36 are inserted into each of the four through holes 4131. The support members are provided on each of the blue entrance surface 36B, the green entrance surface 36G, and the red entrance surface 36R of the light combining element 36, and by inserting the arms of the support members into the through holes 4131, the light combining element 36 and the three panel modules 4B, 4G, and 4R are integrated together.
[0031] [Heat spreader configuration] The heat diffuser 42 receives heat from the panel body 411 through the light incident surface 4115A of the incident-side dustproof substrate 4115, and diffuses the received heat in the heat diffuser 42. As shown in Figs. 4 and 5, the heat diffuser 42 is formed in a substantially rectangular shape that is long in the Y-axis when viewed from the +Z direction, and is disposed on the light incident side of the liquid crystal panel 41. More specifically, the heat diffuser 42 is disposed between the panel body 411 and the thermoelectric conversion device 44 and transports heat. That is, the heat diffuser 42 extends from the liquid crystal panel 41 along the Y-axis, transfers heat between the liquid crystal panel 41, and diffuses the received heat inside. The heat spreader 42 includes a first surface 421, a second surface 422, an opening 423, a contact portion 424, an extension portion 425, two holes 426, and two holes 427. The first surface 421 is a surface of the heat diffuser 42 that faces the panel body 411 of the liquid crystal panel 41. In other words, the first surface 421 is a surface of the heat diffuser 42 on the light exit side. The second surface 422 is a surface of the heat diffuser 42 opposite to the first surface 421. A holding member 43 and a thermoelectric conversion device 44, which will be described later, are in contact with the second surface 422.
[0032] The opening 423 allows light incident on the panel body 411 to pass therethrough in the +Z direction when the heat diffuser 42 is attached to the holding frame 413. That is, the opening 423 is a through-hole that penetrates the heat diffuser 42 along the +Z direction. The opening 423 is formed in a substantially rectangular shape corresponding to the pixel region PA when viewed from the light incident side. The contact portion 424 is provided on the periphery of the opening 423 on the first surface 421. The contact portion 424 comes into contact with the light incident surface 4115A, which is a heat transfer surface, and receives heat of the panel main body 411 from the light incident surface 4115A. Note that as long as the contact portion 424 can receive heat from the panel main body 411, the contact portion 424 may be in any part of the panel main body 411. For example, the contact portion 424 may come into contact with a peripheral surface of the incident-side dustproof substrate 4115 along the circumferential direction centered on the Z-axis.
[0033] The extension portion 425 is a portion of the heat diffuser 42 extending from the contact portion 424 in a direction intersecting the incident direction of light to the panel body 411. More specifically, the extension portion 425 is a portion extending from the contact portion 424 in a direction away from the pixel region PA that emits image light in the liquid crystal panel 41. Specifically, the extension portion 425 is a portion extending from the contact portion 424 in the +Y direction intersecting the Z axis. In the heat diffuser 42, the heat of the panel body 411 received by the contact portion 424 is diffused to the extension portion 425. Then, the heat diffused to the extension portion 425 is absorbed by the thermoelectric conversion device 44 provided on the second surface 422.
[0034] The two holes 426 are provided in the +Y direction with respect to the opening 423. Screws SC fixed to the holding frame 413 are inserted into each of the two holes 426. The two holes 427 are provided in the -Y direction with respect to the opening 423. As shown in Fig. 4, a protrusion 4132 provided on the holding frame 413 is inserted into each of the two holes 427. That is, the protrusion 4132 is a positioning protrusion, and the two holes 427 are positioning holes. In the present embodiment, the heat diffuser 42 is a vapor chamber having a sealed housing in which a working fluid capable of changing between a gas phase and a liquid phase is sealed, but is not limited thereto, and the heat diffuser 42 may be a plate-shaped body made of a metal having high thermal conductivity.
[0035] [Configuration of holding member] 4 and 5, the holding member 43 is formed in a substantially rectangular frame shape. The holding member 43 is fixed to a holding frame 413 with screws SC, and holds the incident-side polarizing plate 351 shown in FIG. 1 on the light incident side with respect to the panel body 411. The holding member 43 has an opening 431, two arms 432, two fixing portions 433, a protrusion 434, three holes 435, and two holes 436.
[0036] The opening 431 is a rectangular opening, and is provided at a position corresponding to the pixel area PA when the holding member 43 is fixed to the holding frame 413. The light emitted from the incident-side polarizing plate 351 in the +Z direction passes through the opening 431 and further passes through the opening 423 of the heat diffuser 42, and is incident on the pixel area PA of the panel body 411. Of the two arms 432, one arm 432 protrudes in the +Y direction from the +X direction end of the holding member 43, and the other arm 432 protrudes in the +Y direction from the -X direction end of the holding member 43. Of the two fixing portions 433, one fixing portion 433 is provided in the +X direction with respect to the opening 431, and the other fixing portion 433 is provided in the -X direction with respect to the opening 431. Each fixing portion 433 protrudes in the -Z direction, and the incident-side polarizing plate 351 is fixed to the light incident side by an adhesive or the like.
[0037] The protrusion 434 protrudes in the -Y direction from the center of the holding member 43 in the X-axis direction. Of the three holes 435, two holes 435 are provided in each of the two arms 432, and the remaining hole 435 is provided in the protruding portion 434. A screw SC to be fixed to the holding frame 413 is inserted into each hole 435 along the +Z direction. The two holes 436 are provided at corners in the -Y direction with respect to the opening 431. Protrusions 4132, which are positioning protrusions provided on the holding frame 413, are inserted into the two holes 436, respectively. That is, the two holes 436 are positioning holes. In this manner, holding member 43 is fixed to holding frame 413 together with heat diffuser 42 , and holds incident-side polarizing plate 351 .
[0038] [Structure of thermoelectric conversion device] The thermoelectric conversion device 44 is connected to the heat diffuser 42 and transfers heat between the thermoelectric conversion device 44 and the heat diffuser 42. Specifically, the thermoelectric conversion device 44 absorbs heat from the heat diffuser 42 and transfers heat to the heat diffuser 42. The thermoelectric conversion device 44 has a first surface 441, a second surface 442, and a lead wire 443, as shown in FIGS. 4 and 5 . The first surface 441 is a surface of the thermoelectric conversion device 44 that faces the heat diffuser 42. More specifically, the first surface 441 is a surface of the thermoelectric conversion device 44 that contacts the extension portion 425. In other words, the first surface 441 is a surface of the thermoelectric conversion device 44 that faces the +Z direction. The second surface 442 is a surface of the thermoelectric conversion device 44 opposite to the first surface 441. In other words, the second surface 442 is a surface of the thermoelectric conversion device 44 facing the -Z direction. The cooler 45 comes into contact with the second surface 442. The lead wire 443 extends in the +Y direction from the end of the thermoelectric conversion device 44 in the +Y direction. The lead wire 443 is connected to the control device 6, which will be described later. That is, the operation of the thermoelectric conversion device 44 is controlled by the control device 6.
[0039] Such a thermoelectric conversion device 44 actively absorbs heat transferred from the extension portion 425 at the first surface 441 by power supplied from the lead wire 443, and dissipates the absorbed heat from the second surface 442 to the cooler 45. In this embodiment, the thermoelectric conversion device 44 is a Peltier element. Therefore, by reversing the polarity of the thermoelectric conversion device 44, heat can be supplied from the first surface 441 to the extension portion 425. That is, the thermoelectric conversion device 44 can heat the panel body 411 of the liquid crystal panel 41 through the heat diffuser 42. When the first surface 441 supplies heat to the heat diffuser 42, the second surface 442 becomes a heat absorbing surface and absorbs heat from the cooler 45. The cooler 45 is connected to the thermoelectric conversion device 44 but is not connected to the heat diffuser 42 and the liquid crystal panel 41. Since the thermoelectric conversion device 44 serves as a heat insulating member, when the thermoelectric conversion device 44 heats the panel body 411, the cooling effect of the thermoelectric conversion device 44 does not act on the panel body 411.
[0040] FIG. 7 is a view of the panel module 4 as viewed from the light incident side. 2 and 3, a side end 444 in the +X direction and a side end 445 in the -X direction of the thermoelectric conversion device 44 are exposed to the outside of the panel module 4. For this reason, when the thermoelectric conversion device 44 absorbs heat of the panel body 411 transferred to the heat diffuser 42, and when the thermoelectric conversion device 44 heats the panel body 411 via the heat diffuser 42, heat is radiated from the side ends 444, 445. Therefore, as shown in FIG. 7, an area Ar1 on the outer side of the panel module 4 near the side end 444 and an area Ar2 on the outer side of the panel module 4 near the side end 445 are areas with relatively high temperatures. In contrast, the first magnets 552, 556 and the second magnets 562, 566 of the light path shift module 5 are disposed at positions away from the areas Ar1, Ar2, which will be described in detail later.
[0041] [Cooler configuration] The cooler 45 sandwiches the thermoelectric conversion device 44 between itself and the heat diffuser 42, and transfers heat between the cooler 45 and the thermoelectric conversion device 44. Specifically, the cooler 45 is connected to the second surface 442 of the thermoelectric conversion device 44, and dissipates heat transferred from the thermoelectric conversion device 44. In this embodiment, the cooler 45 is a heat sink having a plurality of fins FN, as shown in Figs. 2 and 4 .

When the blue panel module 4B corresponds to the first panel module, the blue light corresponds to the first light, and the liquid crystal panel 41, heat diffuser 42, thermoelectric conversion device 44 and cooler 45 of the blue panel module 4B correspond to the liquid crystal panel for the first light, the heat diffuser for the first light, the thermoelectric conversion device for the first light and the cooler for the first light.
[0043] When the red panel module 4R corresponds to the third panel module, the red light corresponds to the third light, and the liquid crystal panel 41, heat diffuser 42, thermoelectric conversion device 44 and cooler 45 of the red panel module 4R correspond to the liquid crystal panel for the third light, the heat diffuser for the third light, the thermoelectric conversion device for the third light and the cooler for the third light. As described above, the green panel module 4G corresponds to the second panel module. The green light corresponds to the second light, and the liquid crystal panel 41, the heat diffuser 42, the thermoelectric conversion device 44, and the cooler 45 of the green panel module 4G correspond to the second light liquid crystal panel, the second light heat diffuser, the second light thermoelectric conversion device, and the second light cooler.

[0052] The fixed portion 536 is provided at an end portion in the -Y direction of the frame portion 531. More specifically, the fixed portion 536 is disposed in the -Y direction from the first oscillation axis Rx1 in the frame portion 531. Furthermore, the fixed portion 536 is disposed in the -Y direction from the support portion 5342. The fixed portion 536 includes a fixed portion 5361 provided on the arm portion 5311 in the +Z direction of the pair of arms 5311, 5312, and a fixed portion 5362 provided on the arm portion 5312 in the -Z direction. [0055] [Configuration of the first actuator] The first actuator 55 swings the first movable part 52 about the first oscillation axis Rx1, thereby swinging the optical path changing member 51 about the first oscillation axis Rx1. The first actuator 55 has a first drive unit 551 and a second drive unit 555 that are disposed at a position on the second oscillation axis Rx2 and are arranged line-symmetrically with respect to the first oscillation axis Rx1. That is, the first drive unit 551 and the second drive unit 555 are disposed at positions sandwiching the first oscillation axis Rx1, and the first actuator 55 is disposed at a position on the second oscillation axis Rx2.
[0056] The first drive unit 551 is disposed in the +Y direction with respect to the first oscillation axis Rx1, and the second drive unit 555 is disposed in the -Y direction with respect to the first oscillation axis Rx1. The first driving unit 551 is a voice coil motor having a first magnet 552 fixed to the first movable part 52 and a first coil 553 supported by the second movable part 53. That is, the first driving unit 551 is disposed between the first movable part 52 and the second movable part 53. The second driving unit 555 is a voice coil motor having a first magnet 556 fixed to the first movable part 52 and a first coil 557 supported by the second movable part 53. That is, the second driving unit 555 is disposed between the first movable part 52 and the second movable part 53. The control device 6, which will be described later, supplies alternating currents of opposite phases to the first coils 553 and 557, whereby the optical path changing member 51 held by the first movable part 52 is oscillated about the first oscillation axis Rx1.
[0057] [Configuration of the second actuator] The second actuator 56 swings the second movable portion 53, thereby swinging the optical path changing member 51 about the second swing axis Rx2. The second actuator 56 is disposed in the -Y direction with respect to the first oscillation axis Rx1, and has a first driving section 561 and a second driving section 565 that are disposed line-symmetrically with respect to the second oscillation axis Rx2. That is, the first driving section 561 and the second driving section 565 are disposed at positions sandwiching the second oscillation axis Rx2, and the second actuator 56 is disposed in the -Y direction with respect to the first oscillation axis Rx1. As described above, the -Y direction is the opposite direction to the direction in which the extension section 425 of the heat diffuser 42 extends from the contact section 424 that contacts the panel body 411 in each of the panel modules 4B, 4G, and 4R.
[0058] The first drive unit 561 is disposed in the +Z direction with respect to the second oscillation axis Rx2, and the second drive unit 565 is disposed in the -Z direction with respect to the second oscillation axis Rx2. The first driving unit 561 is a voice coil motor having a second magnet 562 fixed to the second movable unit 53 and a second coil 563 supported by the base 54. That is, the second driving unit 565 is disposed between the second movable unit 53 and the base 54. The control device 6, which will be described later, supplies alternating currents of opposite phases to the second coils 563, 567, causing the second movable part 53 to oscillate around the second oscillation axis Rx2 relative to the base 54, thereby causing the optical path changing member 51 to oscillate around the second oscillation axis Rx2.
[0059] [Light path shift by light path shift module] FIG. 9 is a diagram illustrating the shift of the optical path of the projected image light by the optical path shift module 5. As shown in FIG. Here, how the light path shift module 5 increases the resolution of a projected image will be described. As described above, the light path shift module 5 changes the attitude of the light path changing member 51 through which the projection image light PL passes, thereby shifting the light path of the projection image light PL by utilizing refraction at the light path changing member 51. 9 are directions that are perpendicular to each other on the projection surface PS, the -F1 direction is the opposite direction to the +F1 direction, and the -F2 direction is the opposite direction to the +F2 direction. The +F1 direction corresponds to the first direction, and the -F2 direction corresponds to the second direction.
[0060] Specifically, the light path shift module 5 swings the light path changing member 51 in two directions, a first swing direction around the first swing axis Rx1 and a second swing direction around the second swing axis Rx2, thereby shifting the light path of the projected image light in the ±F1 direction and the ±F2 direction as shown in Fig. 9. As a result, the pixels Px of the projected image displayed on the projection surface PS are shifted in the ±F1 direction and the ±F2 direction.
[0061] The control device 6, which will be described later, uses the light path shift module 5 to combine light path shifts of the projected image light in the ±F1 directions with light path shifts of the projected image light in the ±F2 directions, thereby increasing the apparent number of pixels and improving the resolution of the projected image. For example, the control device 6 shifts the optical path of the projected image light to move the pixel Px to a position shifted by half a pixel in each of the ±F1 and ±F2 directions. Note that half a pixel refers to half the size of the pixel Px. As a result, the image display position on the projection surface PS shifts to a second position P2 that is shifted by half a pixel in the +F1 direction from the first position P1, a third position P3 that is shifted by half a pixel in the -F2 direction from the second position P2, and a fourth position P4 that is shifted by half a pixel in the -F2 direction from the first position P1. The second position P2, the third position P3, and the fourth position P4 correspond to shift positions from the first position P1.
[0062] The control device 6 shifts the optical path of the projected image light by the optical path shift module 5 so that pixel Px is displayed at each of positions P1, P2, P3, and P4 for a certain period of time, and changes the display contents of each panel module 4B, 4G, and 4R in synchronization with the optical path shift. This makes it possible to display pixels A, B, C, and D that appear smaller than the size of pixel Px.
[0063] For example, when pixels A, B, C, and D are displayed at a frequency of 60 Hz overall, it is necessary to switch the display of each liquid crystal panel 41 at a speed four times faster than 60 Hz, corresponding to positions P1, P2, P3, and P4. In this case, a projection image with a high apparent resolution can be displayed by setting the refresh rate of each liquid crystal panel 41 to 240 Hz and each liquid crystal panel 41 sequentially forming a projection image light including pixel A displayed at the first position P1, a projection image light including pixel B displayed at the second position P2, a projection image light including pixel C displayed at the third position P3, and a projection image light including pixel D displayed at the fourth position P4.
[0064] In the example of the light path shift shown in FIG. 9, the ±F1 and ±F2 directions are the arrangement directions of the pixels Px displayed in a matrix on the projection surface PS. However, the ±F1 and ±F2 directions do not have to be perpendicular to each other, and may be inclined with respect to the arrangement direction of the pixels Px. Even in such a shift direction, the pixel Px can be moved to each position P1, P2, P3, P4 by appropriately combining the light path shift in the ±F1 and ±F2 directions. In addition, the amount of deviation of each position P2 to P4 from the first position P1 is not limited to half a pixel, and may be, for example, 1 / 4 or 3 / 4 of the size of the pixel Px.
[0065] [Positional relationship between the high temperature area and the actuator in the image forming unit] Fig. 10 is a diagram showing the positional relationship between the panel modules 4B, 4G and the actuators 55, 56 as viewed from the blue light incident side. Fig. 11 is a diagram showing the positional relationship between the panel modules 4R, 4G and the actuators 55, 56 as viewed from the red light incident side. Fig. 12 is a diagram showing the positional relationship between the panel modules 4B, 4R and the actuators 55, 56 as viewed from the light emission side of the light path shift module 5. In other words, Figs. 10 to 12 are diagrams showing the positional relationship between the above-mentioned areas Ar1, Ar2 and the actuators 55, 56. Note that Figs. 10 to 12 show the +X direction, +Y direction, and +Z direction in the blue panel module 4B. As described above, when the panel module 4 is in operation, the temperatures of the areas Ar1 and Ar2 near the side ends 444 and 445 of the thermoelectric conversion device 44 on the outside of the panel module 4 tend to rise. On the other hand, when the temperature of the magnet rises, a phenomenon called demagnetization occurs in which the magnetic force of the magnet weakens. Therefore, in order to stably operate the first actuator 55 and the second actuator 56, it is necessary to separate the first magnets 552, 556 and the second magnets 562, 566 from the regions Ar1, Ar2. Hereinafter, the region Ar1 near the side end 444 of the thermoelectric conversion device 44 of the blue panel module 4B is referred to as region Ar1B, and the region Ar2 near the side end 445 of the thermoelectric conversion device 44 of the red panel module 4R is referred to as region Ar2R. As described above, the side end 444 of the thermoelectric conversion device 44 of the blue panel module 4B is the end of the thermoelectric conversion device 44 of the blue panel module 4B on the light path shift module 5 side. The side end 444 of the thermoelectric conversion device 44 of the red panel module 4R is the end of the thermoelectric conversion device 44 of the red panel module 4R on the light path shift module 5 side.
[0066] In this embodiment, as shown in FIGS. 10 to 12, the magnets 552, 556, 562, and 566 are disposed at positions away from the areas Ar1B and Ar2R. 10 and 12, the first magnet 556 and the second magnets 562, 566 are arranged to be shifted in the -Y direction with respect to the area Ar1B. As described above, the -Y direction is the opposite direction to the +Y direction in which the extension portion 425 extends from the contact portion 424 in each of the panel modules 4B, 4G, 4R. Furthermore, as shown in FIG. 12, the first magnet 556 and the second magnets 562, 566 are arranged shifted toward the red panel module 4R side with respect to the area Ar1B.
[0067] 11 and 12, the first magnet 556 and the second magnets 562, 566 are arranged to be shifted in the -Y direction with respect to the region Ar2R. Furthermore, as shown in Fig. 12, the first magnet 556 and the second magnets 562, 566 are arranged to be shifted toward the blue panel module 4B with respect to the region Ar2R.
[0068] On the other hand, as shown in FIGS. 10 and 11, the position of the first magnet 552 in the +Y direction substantially coincides with the position of the region Ar1B in the +Y direction and the position of the region Ar2R in the +Y direction. However, as shown in FIG. 12, the first magnet 552 is arranged so as to be shifted toward the red panel module 4R side with respect to the area Ar1B, and is arranged so as to be shifted toward the blue panel module 4B side with respect to the area Ar2R.
[0069] Like this 、 By arranging the magnets 552, 556, 562, and 566 away from the areas Ar1B and Ar2R, it is possible to suppress the influence of heat on the magnets 552, 556, 562, and 566 from the panel modules 4B and 4R. The green panel module 4G is provided on the opposite side of the light combining element 36 to the light path shift module 5. Therefore, the thermal influence of the green panel module 4G on the magnets 552, 556, 562, and 566 is suppressed. Therefore, it is possible to prevent demagnetization of the magnets 552, 556, 562, and 566, and it is possible to prevent the operation of the light path shift module 5 from being hindered by heat.
[0070] [Control device configuration] FIG. 13 is a block diagram showing the configuration of the control device 6. As shown in FIG. The control device 6 controls the operation of the projector 1. For example, the control device 6 controls the operation of each panel module 4 and the light path shift module 5 in accordance with the temperature of the liquid crystal panel 41 of each panel module 4B, 4G, 4R and the temperature of each actuator 55, 56. As shown in FIG. 13, the control device 6 has an actuator temperature sensor 61, a panel temperature sensor 62, a storage unit 63, and a control unit 64. In the following description, the liquid crystal panel 41 and the thermoelectric conversion device 44 of the blue panel module 4B are referred to as a blue liquid crystal panel 41B and a blue thermoelectric conversion device 44B, the liquid crystal panel 41 and the thermoelectric conversion device 44 of the green panel module 4G are referred to as a green liquid crystal panel 41G and a green thermoelectric conversion device 44G, and the liquid crystal panel 41 and the thermoelectric conversion device 44 of the red panel module 4R are referred to as a red liquid crystal panel 41R and a red thermoelectric conversion device 44R, as shown in FIG.
[0071] [Configuration of temperature sensor for actuator] The actuator temperature sensor 61 detects the temperature of each of the actuators 55, 56. The actuator temperature sensor 61 includes a first temperature sensor 611, a second temperature sensor 612, a third temperature sensor 613, and a fourth temperature sensor 614. The first temperature sensor 611 detects the temperature of the first magnet 552 . The second temperature sensor 612 detects the temperature of the first magnet 556 . The third temperature sensor 613 detects the temperature of the second magnet 562 . The fourth temperature sensor 614 detects the temperature of the second magnet 566 . Each of the temperature sensors 611 , 612 , 613 , and 614 outputs the detected temperature to the control unit 64 .
[0072] [Panel temperature sensor configuration] The panel temperature sensor 62 detects the temperature of the liquid crystal panel 41. The panel temperature sensor 62 includes a blue temperature sensor 62B, a green temperature sensor 62G, and a red temperature sensor 62R. The blue temperature sensor 62B detects the temperature of the blue liquid crystal panel 41B. The green temperature sensor 62G detects the temperature of the green liquid crystal panel 41G. The red temperature sensor 62R detects the temperature of the red liquid crystal panel 41R. Each of the temperature sensors 62B, 62G, 62R outputs the detected temperature to the control unit 64.
[0073] [Storage configuration] The storage unit 63 is configured with a storage means such as a non-volatile memory, and stores programs and data necessary for controlling the projector 1. For example, the storage unit 63 stores a control program for the control unit 64 to execute a control process described below. Also, for example, the storage unit 63 stores various threshold values necessary for the control process.
[0074] [Overview of the control unit] The control unit 64 refers to the storage unit 63 and controls the operation of each component of the projector 1. The control unit 64 includes a thermoelectric conversion device control unit 65, a panel control unit 66, and a shift control unit 67.
[0075] [Configuration of the control unit for thermoelectric conversion device] The thermoelectric conversion device control unit 65 controls the thermoelectric conversion device 44 based on the temperatures detected by the actuator temperature sensor 61 and the panel temperature sensor 62 . For example, when the temperature of the blue liquid crystal panel 41B exceeds the upper limit of the optimum temperature range, the thermoelectric conversion device control unit 65 absorbs heat from the blue liquid crystal panel 41B by the blue thermoelectric conversion device 44B. Also, when the temperature of the blue liquid crystal panel 41B is below the lower limit of the optimum temperature range, the thermoelectric conversion device control unit 65 heats the blue liquid crystal panel 41B by the blue thermoelectric conversion device 44B. The heat absorption control and heating control of the green thermoelectric conversion device 44G and the red thermoelectric conversion device 44R by the thermoelectric conversion device control unit 65 are similar.
[0076] Also, for example, when the temperature of at least one of the magnets 552, 556, 562, 566 exceeds a first threshold, the thermoelectric conversion device control unit 65 reduces the output of each of the thermoelectric conversion devices 44B, 44G, 44R. That is, when the temperature of at least one of the first actuator 55 and the second actuator 56 detected by the actuator temperature sensor 61 exceeds a predetermined value, the thermoelectric conversion device control unit 65 reduces the output of the thermoelectric conversion devices 44B, 44G, 44R. In this case, in both cases where the thermoelectric conversion devices 44B, 44G, 44R are absorbing heat and where the thermoelectric conversion devices 44B, 44G, 44R are heating, when the temperature of the at least one of the magnets exceeds the first threshold, the thermoelectric conversion device control unit 65 reduces the output of the thermoelectric conversion devices 44B, 44G, 44R. As described above, the panel module 4G does not thermally affect the magnets 552, 556, 562, and 566. Therefore, the thermoelectric conversion device control unit 65 does not need to reduce the output of the green thermoelectric conversion device 44G even when reducing the output of the thermoelectric conversion devices 44B and 44R.
[0077] [Panel control section configuration] Based on the temperature detected by the panel temperature sensor 62, the panel control unit 66 controls the operations of the liquid crystal panels 41B, 41G, and 41R. Specifically, when the temperature of each of the liquid crystal panels 41B, 41G, and 41R is equal to or higher than the second threshold, the panel controller 66 operates each of the liquid crystal panels 41B, 41G, and 41R in the high resolution mode. On the other hand, when the temperature of at least one of the liquid crystal panels 41B, 41G, and 41R is lower than the second threshold, the panel controller 66 operates each of the liquid crystal panels 41B, 41G, and 41R in the low resolution mode. The second threshold can be, for example, the lower limit of the suitable temperature range.
[0078] FIG. 14 is a diagram for explaining the operation of the liquid crystal panel 41 and the light path shift module 5 in the high resolution mode. In the high resolution mode, the panel control section 66 executes the first panel control. In the first panel control, the panel control unit 66 drives each liquid crystal panel 41B, 41G, 41R at a first refresh rate to sequentially form projected image light G1 in which the above-mentioned pixel Px is displayed at the first position P1, projected image light G2 in which the pixel Px is displayed at the second position P2, projected image light G3 in which the pixel Px is displayed at the third position P3, and projected image light G4 in which the pixel Px is displayed at the fourth position P4. Specifically, in the first panel control, the panel control unit 66 drives the liquid crystal panels 41B, 41G, and 41R at 240 Hz to sequentially form the projected image lights G1, G2, G3, and G4, as shown in Fig. 14. That is, in the high resolution mode, the panel control unit 66 sequentially forms the projected image lights G1, G2, G3, and G4 every 1 / 240 seconds.
[0079] FIG. 15 is a diagram for explaining the operation of the liquid crystal panel 41 and the light path shift module 5 in the low resolution mode. In the low resolution mode, the panel control section 66 executes the second panel control. In the second panel control, the panel control unit 66 drives each liquid crystal panel 41B, 41G, 41R at a second refresh rate lower than the first refresh rate to sequentially form projected image light G1 and one of the projected image lights G2, G3, G4. Specifically, in the second panel control, the panel control unit 66 drives the liquid crystal panels 41B, 41G, and 41R at 120 Hz, which is lower than 240 Hz, to sequentially form the projected image lights G1 and G3, as shown in Fig. 15. That is, in the second panel control, the panel control unit 66 sequentially forms the projected image lights G1 and G3 every 1 / 120 seconds. When the temperature of the liquid crystal panel 41 is low, the responsiveness of the liquid crystal decreases, making it difficult for the liquid crystal panel 41 to form images at a high refresh rate. On the other hand, when the temperature of the liquid crystal panel 41 is low, the first panel control is switched to the second panel control, and the refresh rate of the liquid crystal panel 41 is switched from 240 Hz to 120 Hz, so that the projected image lights G1 and G3 can be formed without delay.
[0080] [Shift control unit configuration] The shift control unit 67 controls the operation of each of the actuators 55 and 56 of the light path shift module 5 based on the temperature detected by the panel temperature sensor 62 . Specifically, when the temperature of each of the liquid crystal panels 41B, 41G, and 41R is equal to or higher than the second threshold, the shift control unit 67 operates the actuators 55 and 56 in the high resolution mode. On the other hand, when the temperature of at least one of the liquid crystal panels 41B, 41G, and 41R is lower than the second threshold, the shift control unit 67 operates the actuators 55 and 56 in the low resolution mode.
[0081] In the high resolution mode, the shift control unit 67 executes the first shift control. In the first shift control, the shift control unit 67 operates the actuators 55 and 56 to switch the display position of the projected image light at a frequency according to the first refresh rate. Specifically, in the first shift control, the shift control unit 67 operates the light path shift module 5 at 240 Hz to sequentially switch the display position of the projected image light to positions P1, P2, P3, and P4, as shown in Fig. 14. That is, in the first shift control, the shift control unit 67 operates the light path shift module 5 to sequentially switch between displaying the projected image light G1 at the first position P1, displaying the projected image light G2 at the second position P2, displaying the projected image light G3 at the third position P3, and displaying the projected image light G4 at the fourth position P4 every 1 / 240 seconds. In detail, in the first shift control, the shift control unit 67 operates the light path shift module 5 to display the projected image light G1 at the first position P1 when the projected image light G1 is formed, to display the projected image light G2 at the second position P2 when the projected image light G2 is formed, to display the projected image light G3 at the third position P3 when the projected image light G3 is formed, and to display the projected image light G4 at the fourth position P4 when the projected image light G4 is formed.
[0082] In the low resolution mode, the shift control unit 67 executes the second shift control. In the second shift control, the shift control unit 67 operates the light path shift module 5 at a frequency lower than the frequency of the light path shift module 5 in the first shift control, and displays the projected image light formed by the liquid crystal panel 41 at a position corresponding to the projected image light. Specifically, in the second shift control, as shown in Fig. 15, the shift control unit 67 operates the light path shift module 5 at 120 Hz to sequentially switch between displaying the projected image light G1 at the first position P1 and displaying the projected image light G3 at the third position P3. That is, in the second shift control, the shift control unit 67 sequentially switches between displaying the projected image light G1 at the first position P1 and displaying the projected image light G3 at the third position P3 every 1 / 120 seconds. In detail, in the second shift control, the shift control unit 67 operates the light path shift module 5 to display the projected image light G1 at the first position P1 at the timing when the projected image light G1 is formed, and to display the projected image light G3 at the third position P3 at the timing when the projected image light G3 is formed. In this way, it is possible to increase the apparent resolution of the projection image displayed on the projection surface PS by projecting the projection image light by operating the light path shift module 5. In addition, even when the temperature of the liquid crystal panel 41 is low, it is possible to increase the resolution of the image displayed on the projection surface PS by projecting the projection image light, compared to when the light path shift module 5 does not operate.
[0083] [Control process] FIG. 16 is a flowchart showing the control process executed by the control unit 64. The control unit 64 reads out the control program stored in the storage unit 63 and executes the control process shown in FIG. In the control process, the control unit 64 first determines whether or not the temperature of each of the actuators 55, 56 detected by the actuator temperature sensor 61 exceeds a first threshold value (step S1). Specifically, in step S1, the control unit 64 determines whether or not the temperature of each of the magnets 552, 556, 562, 566 exceeds the first threshold value.
[0084] In the judgment process in step S1, when the control unit 64 determines that the temperature of at least one of the magnets exceeds the first threshold value (step S1: YES), the thermoelectric conversion device control unit 65 reduces the output of the thermoelectric conversion devices 44B, 44G, and 44R (step S2). In step S2, as described above, in either case where the thermoelectric conversion devices 44B, 44G, 44R are absorbing heat from the liquid crystal panels 41B, 41G, 41R, or where the liquid crystal panels 41B, 41G, 41R are heating, the thermoelectric conversion device control unit 65 reduces the output of the thermoelectric conversion devices 44B, 44G, 44R. By performing step S2 as described above, the temperature rise of the magnets 552, 556, 562, and 566 can be suppressed, and demagnetization of the magnets 552, 556, 562, and 566 can be suppressed. As described above, since the green thermoelectric conversion device 44G does not have a thermal effect on the light path shift module 5, the thermoelectric conversion device control unit 65 does not need to reduce the output of the green thermoelectric conversion device 44G in step S2. After step S2, the control unit 64 returns the process to step S1.
[0085] In the judgment process of step S1, if the control unit 64 determines that the temperature of each of the magnets 552, 556, 562, 566 does not exceed the first threshold value (step S1: NO), the control unit 64 determines whether the temperature of each liquid crystal panel 41B, 41G, 41R detected by the panel temperature sensor 62 is equal to or higher than the second threshold value (step S3).
[0086] In the determination process of step S3, when the control unit 64 determines that the temperatures of the liquid crystal panels 41B, 41G, and 41R are equal to or higher than the second threshold (step S3: YES), the panel control unit 66 operates the liquid crystal panels 41B, 41G, and 41R in the high resolution mode, and the shift control unit 67 operates the light path shift module 5 in the high resolution mode (step S4). After step S4, the control unit 64 returns the process to step S1.
[0087] In the determination process of step S3, when the control unit 64 determines that the temperature of at least one of the liquid crystal panels 41B, 41G, and 41R is lower than the second threshold value (step S3: NO), the panel control unit 66 operates the liquid crystal panels 41B, 41G, and 41R in the low resolution mode, and the shift control unit 67 operates the light path shift module 5 in the low resolution mode (step S5). After step S5, the control unit 64 returns the process to step S1.
[0088] In this way, by controlling the operation of the liquid crystal panels 41B, 41G, 41R, the thermoelectric conversion devices 44B, 44G, 44R and the light path shift module 5 by the control unit 64, it is possible to project a projection image light PL having a higher apparent resolution. In addition, even if the responsiveness of the liquid crystal is low, it is possible to project a projection image light PL having a higher apparent resolution than when the light path shift module 5 is not operating.
[0089] [Effects of the first embodiment] The projector 1 according to the present embodiment described above provides the following advantages. The projector 1 includes a blue panel module 4B, a green panel module 4G, a red panel module 4R, a light combining element 36, a projection optical module 37, and a light path shift module 5. The blue panel module 4B emits blue image light obtained by modulating blue light, with the first axis Ax1 as the optical axis. The green panel module 4G emits green image light obtained by modulating green light, with the second axis Ax2 perpendicular to the first axis Ax1 as the optical axis. The red panel module 4R emits red image light obtained by modulating red light, with the first axis Ax1 as the optical axis. For example, blue light corresponds to the first light, green light corresponds to the second light, and red light corresponds to the third light. image The light corresponds to a third image light.
[0090] The light combining element 36 has a blue incidence surface 36B, a green incidence surface 36G, a red incidence surface 36R, and an exit surface 36S. Blue image light is incident on the blue incident surface 36B. Green image light is incident on the green incident surface 36G. Red image light is incident on the red incident surface 36R. The exit surface 36S emits projected image light that is a composite light obtained by combining the blue image light, the green image light, and the red image light with the second axis Ax2 as the optical axis. The blue incidence surface 36B corresponds to a first incidence surface, the green incidence surface 36G corresponds to a second incidence surface, and the red incidence surface 36R corresponds to a third incidence surface.
[0091] The projection optical module 37 projects the projection image light emitted from the light combining element 36 . The light path shift module 5 shifts the light path of the projection image light incident on the projection optical module 37 from the light combining element . The light path shift module 5 includes a light path changing member 51, a first actuator 55, and a second actuator . The optical path changing member 51 is disposed in the optical path between the light combining element 36 and the projection optical module 37 . The first actuator 55 has a first drive unit 551 having a first magnet 552 and a first coil 553, and a second drive unit 555 having a first magnet 556 and a first coil 557. The first actuator 55 swings the optical path changing member 51 about a first swing axis Rx1 along the first axis Ax1. The second actuator 56 has a first driving unit 561 having a second magnet 562 and a second coil 563, and a second driving unit 565 having a second magnet 566 and a second coil 567. The second actuator 56 swings the optical path changing member 51 about a second oscillation axis Rx2 along a third axis perpendicular to each of the first axis Ax1 and the second axis Ax2. The third axis is an axis along the +Y direction.
[0092] The blue panel module 4B includes a blue liquid crystal panel 41B, a heat diffuser 42, a blue thermoelectric conversion device 44B, and a cooler 45. The blue liquid crystal panel 41B emits blue image light. The heat diffuser 42 of the blue panel module 4B extends along the third axis from the blue liquid crystal panel 41B. The heat diffuser 42 transfers heat to and from the blue liquid crystal panel 41B, and diffuses the received heat inside. The blue thermoelectric conversion device 44B transfers heat to and from the heat diffuser 42 of the blue panel module 4B. The cooler 45 of the blue panel module 4B sandwiches the blue thermoelectric conversion device 44B between itself and the heat diffuser 42, and transfers heat between the cooler 45 and the blue thermoelectric conversion device 44B. The first actuator 55 and the second actuator 56 are each disposed at a position away from the side end 444 in the +X direction of the blue thermoelectric conversion device 44B. That is, the magnets 552, 556, 562, and 566 of each actuator 55, 56 are disposed at a position away from the region Ar1B.
[0093] According to this configuration, when the surface of the blue thermoelectric conversion device 44B in contact with the heat diffuser 42 becomes a heat generating surface, the heat generated in the blue thermoelectric conversion device 44B is transferred to the heat diffuser 42, and then diffused inside the heat diffuser 42 and transferred to the blue liquid crystal panel 41B. Therefore, when the temperature of the blue liquid crystal panel 41B is low, the blue liquid crystal panel 41B can be heated. On the other hand, the heat generated in the blue liquid crystal panel 41B is dissipated to the heat diffuser 42 and then diffused inside the heat diffuser 42. At this time, the blue thermoelectric conversion device 44B absorbs the heat from the heat diffuser 42 and dissipates the absorbed heat to the cooler 45, so that the heat generated in the blue liquid crystal panel 41B can be quickly dissipated to the cooler 45. Therefore, when the temperature of the blue liquid crystal panel 41B is high, the blue liquid crystal panel 41B can be cooled. In this way, by using the blue thermoelectric conversion device 44B, the temperature of the blue liquid crystal panel 41B can be adjusted to an appropriate temperature in a short time, so that the responsiveness of the blue liquid crystal panel 41B can be maintained in a good state in a short time. Therefore, it is possible to accommodate high-speed pixel shifting by the light path shift module 5 that shifts the positions of multiple pixels included in the projected image light by swinging the light path changing member 51 about each of the first oscillation axis Rx1 and the second oscillation axis Rx2.
[0094] Furthermore, even if the blue thermoelectric conversion device 44B generates relatively high heat, the first actuator 55 and the second actuator 56 are disposed at a position away from the side end 444 of the blue thermoelectric conversion device 44B on the light path shift module 5 side. This makes it possible to prevent the heat transported by the blue thermoelectric conversion device 44B from affecting the magnets 552, 556, 562, and 566 of the actuators 55 and 56. Therefore, it is possible to prevent the performance of the actuators 55 and 56 from being reduced by heat. In this way, the responsiveness of the liquid crystal of the blue liquid crystal panel 41B and the operating performance of each of the actuators 55, 56 of the light path shift module 5 can be maintained in a good state, so that an image with good quality and high pseudo resolution can be projected.
[0095] In the projector 1, the red panel module 4R corresponds to the third panel module. The red panel module 4R includes a red liquid crystal panel 41R, a heat diffuser 42, a red thermoelectric conversion device 44R, and a cooler 45. The red liquid crystal panel 41R emits red image light which is a third image light. The red liquid crystal panel 41R corresponds to a third light liquid crystal panel. The heat diffuser 42 of the red panel module 4R extends along the third axis from the red liquid crystal panel 41R, transfers heat between the red liquid crystal panel 41R, and diffuses the received heat inside. The red thermoelectric conversion device 44R transfers heat to and from the heat diffuser 42 of the red panel module 4R. The cooler 45 of the red panel module 4R sandwiches the red thermoelectric conversion device 44R between itself and the heat diffuser 42 of the red panel module 4R, and transfers heat between the red thermoelectric conversion device 44R and the cooler 45 of the red panel module 4R. Each of the first actuator 55 and the second actuator 56 is disposed at a position away from the side end 445 of the red thermoelectric conversion device 44R on the light path shift module 5 side. That is, the magnets 552, 556, 562, and 566 of each actuator 55 and 56 are disposed at a position away from the region Ar2R.
[0096] According to this configuration, similarly to the case of the blue thermoelectric conversion device 44B, it is possible to suppress the heat transported by the red thermoelectric conversion device 44R from affecting the first actuator 55 and the second actuator 56. Therefore, it is possible to suppress the performance of each of the actuators 55, 56 from being reduced by the heat transported by the red thermoelectric conversion device 44R.
[0097] In the projector 1, the first actuator 55 is disposed on the second oscillation axis Rx2. As described above, the second oscillation axis Rx2 is an oscillation axis along the third axis perpendicular to each of the first axis Ax1 and the second axis Ax2. Therefore, the first actuator 55 is disposed at a position spaced apart from the blue panel module 4B and the red panel module 4R. Therefore, the influence of heat from the blue thermoelectric conversion device 44B and the red thermoelectric conversion device 44R on each of the actuators 55, 56 can be suppressed.
[0098] In the projector 1, the light path shift module 5 includes a first movable part 52, a second movable part 53, and a base . The first movable portion 52 holds the optical path changing member 51 . The second movable part 53 holds the first movable part 52 so as to be swingable about a first oscillation axis Rx1. The base 54 holds the second movable part 53 so as to be swingable about the second oscillation axis Rx2. The first actuator 55 includes a first driving unit 551 and a second driving unit 555 disposed on the second oscillation axis Rx2 and between the first movable unit 52 and the second movable unit 53 when viewed from the light emission side of the light path shift module 5. The first actuator 55 swings the first movable unit 52 around the first oscillation axis Rx1. The second actuator 56 includes a first driving unit 561 and a second driving unit 565 disposed between the second movable part 53 and the base 54 in the -Y direction with respect to the first oscillation axis Rx1 when viewed from the light emission side of the light path shift module 5. The second actuator 56 swings the second movable part 53 around the second oscillation axis Rx2.
[0099] According to this configuration, the optical path changing member 51 can be swung about the first oscillation axis Rx1 and the second oscillation axis Rx2 by the first actuator 55 and the second actuator 56 arranged as described above. This makes it possible to shift a plurality of pixels included in the projected image light to a plurality of positions. In addition, the actuators 55 and 56 can be disposed at positions away from the areas Ar1B and Ar2R, and therefore the performance of the actuators 55 and 56 can be prevented from being deteriorated due to heat.
[0100] The projector 1 includes a panel temperature sensor 62 that detects the temperature of the blue liquid crystal panel 41B, and a shift control unit 67 that controls the light path shift module 5. When the temperature of the blue liquid crystal panel 41B detected by the panel temperature sensor 62 is less than a second threshold value, the shift control unit 67 switches from a first shift control in which the position of the pixel Px included in the projected image light emitted from the light combining element 36 is sequentially shifted from a first position P1 to multiple shift positions, namely positions P2, P3, and P4, to a second shift control in which the position of the pixel Px is sequentially shifted between the first position P1 and a third position P3.
[0101] Here, when the temperature of the blue liquid crystal panel 41B is low, the responsiveness of the blue liquid crystal panel 41B decreases, and therefore the blue liquid crystal panel 41B cannot form images at a high refresh rate. On the other hand, when the temperature of the blue liquid crystal panel 41B is low and the responsiveness of the blue liquid crystal panel 41B is low, the shift control unit 67 switches from the first shift control to the second shift control. By switching the pixel shift on two axes of the first oscillation axis Rx1 and the second oscillation axis Rx2 to a pseudo one-axis shift in this manner, degradation in image quality can be suppressed even when an image is formed at a low refresh rate by the blue liquid crystal panel 41B. On the other hand, when the temperature of the blue liquid crystal panel 41B becomes appropriate, it is possible to return from the second shift control to the first shift control. Therefore, it is possible to operate the blue liquid crystal panel 41B and the light path shift module 5 according to the temperature of the blue liquid crystal panel 41B while suppressing deterioration in image quality.
[0102] The projector 1 includes a panel control unit 66 that controls the blue liquid crystal panel 41B. When the temperature of the blue liquid crystal panel 41B detected by the panel temperature sensor 62 is less than a second threshold value, the panel control unit 66 switches from a first panel control in which the projected image light G1 projected to the first position P1, the projected image light G2 projected to the second position P2, the projected image light G3 projected to the third position P3, and the projected image light G4 projected to the fourth position P4 are sequentially formed at a first refresh rate to a second panel control in which the projected image light G1 and the projected image light G3 are sequentially formed at a second refresh rate lower than the first refresh rate. Regarding the control of the blue liquid crystal panel 41B, when the temperature of the blue liquid crystal panel 41B is less than the second threshold value, the panel controller 66 switches from a first panel control in which the blue image light projected at the first position P1 and the blue image light projected at each of the positions P2, P3, and P4 are sequentially formed at a first refresh rate to a second panel control in which the first image light projected at the first position P1 and the first image light projected at the third position P3 are sequentially formed at a second refresh rate lower than the first refresh rate. As described above, the blue image light corresponds to the first image light.
[0103] According to this configuration, the panel control section 66 executes the first panel control, so that the first image light projected at each position can be formed at a high refresh rate. On the other hand, the panel control unit 66 executes the second panel control, so that the first image light projected at the first position and the first image light projected at the one shift position can be formed sequentially at a low refresh rate. Therefore, even if the response of the liquid crystal is low, the image projection can be continued while suppressing deterioration of image quality.
[0104] In the projector 1, the multiple shift positions to which the pixel Px is shifted by the light path shift module 5 include a second position P2, a third position P3, and a fourth position P4. The second position P2 is set in the +F1 direction with respect to the first position P1. The third position P3 is set in the +F2 direction perpendicular to the +F1 direction with respect to the second position P2. The fourth position P4 is set in the +F2 direction with respect to the first position P1. The +F1 direction corresponds to the first direction, and the +F2 direction corresponds to the second direction. In the first panel control, the panel control unit 66 sequentially forms projected image light G1 projected onto the first position P1, projected image light G2 projected onto the second position P2, projected image light G3 projected onto the third position P3, and projected image light G4 projected onto the fourth position P4 at a first refresh rate. In the second panel control, the panel control unit 66 sequentially forms the projected image light G1 projected to the first position P1 and the projected image light G3 projected to the third position P3 at a second refresh rate.
[0105] Regarding the control of the blue liquid crystal panel 41B, in the first panel control, the panel control unit 66 sequentially forms the blue image light projected at the first position P1, the blue image light projected at the second position P2, the blue image light projected at the third position P3, and the blue image light projected at the fourth position P4 at a first refresh rate. In addition, in the second panel control, the panel control unit 66 sequentially forms the blue image light projected at the first position P1 and the blue image light projected at the third position P3 at a second refresh rate.
[0106] The second refresh rate is half the first refresh rate. In the second shift control, the shift control unit 67 shifts the projected image light G1 to the first position P1 at the timing when the projected image light G1 projected at the first position P1 is formed, and shifts the projected image light G3 to the third position P3 at the timing when the projected image light G3 projected at the third position P3 is formed. That is, in the second shift control, the shift control unit 67 shifts the projected image light G1 to the first position P1 at the timing when the blue image light projected at the first position P1 is formed, and shifts the projected image light G3 to the third position P3 at the timing when the blue image light projected at the third position P3 is formed.
[0107] According to this configuration, when the temperature of the blue liquid crystal panel 41B is equal to or higher than the second threshold, a high-resolution image having four times the resolution can be displayed compared to when the light path shift module 5 does not operate. The same applies when the temperatures of the green liquid crystal panel 41G and the red liquid crystal panel 41R are equal to or higher than the second threshold. On the other hand, when the temperature of the blue liquid crystal panel 41B is less than the second threshold, the projected image light G1 and the projected image light G3 are alternately projected. The refresh rate of the blue liquid crystal panel 41B at this time is the second refresh rate, which is half the first refresh rate when the first panel control is executed. Therefore, even if the responsiveness of the blue liquid crystal panel 41B is low, the projected image light can be projected sequentially to the first position P1 and the third position P3 by lowering the refresh rate of the blue liquid crystal panel 41B. Therefore, it is possible to maintain image projection while suppressing deterioration in the quality of the projected image. The same applies when the temperature of at least one of the green liquid crystal panel 41G and the red liquid crystal panel 41R is less than the second threshold.
[0108] In the projector 1, the green panel module 4G has a green liquid crystal panel 41G that emits green image light. The green image light corresponds to the second image light, and the green liquid crystal panel 41G corresponds to the second light liquid crystal panel. The red panel module 4R has a red liquid crystal panel 41R that emits red image light. The red image light corresponds to the third image light, and the red liquid crystal panel 41R corresponds to the third light liquid crystal panel. The panel temperature sensor 62 includes a blue temperature sensor 62B, a green temperature sensor 62G, and a red temperature sensor 62R. The blue temperature sensor 62B corresponds to the first panel sensor, and detects the temperature of the blue liquid crystal panel 41B. The green temperature sensor 62G corresponds to the second panel sensor, and detects the temperature of the green liquid crystal panel 41G. The red temperature sensor 62R corresponds to the third panel sensor, and detects the temperature of the red liquid crystal panel 41R. When at least one of the temperatures of the blue liquid crystal panel 41B, the green liquid crystal panel 41G, and the red liquid crystal panel 41R is lower than the second threshold, the shift control unit 67 operates the light path shift module 5 under the second shift control. When at least one of the temperatures is lower than the second threshold, the panel control unit 66 operates each of the blue liquid crystal panel 41B, the green liquid crystal panel 41G, and the third light liquid crystal panel under the second panel control.
[0109] According to this configuration, when the temperature of the blue LCD panel 41B, the temperature of the green LCD panel 41G, and the temperature of the red LCD panel 41R are each equal to or higher than the second threshold value, the shift control unit 67 executes the first shift control, and the panel control unit executes the first panel control. On the other hand, when the temperature of at least one of liquid crystal panels 41B, 41G, and 41R is lower than the second threshold value, shift control unit 67 performs the second shift control, and panel control unit 66 executes the second panel control. Therefore, it is possible to operate each of the liquid crystal panels 41B, 41G, and 41R and the light path shift module 5 in accordance with the responsiveness of each of the liquid crystal panels 41B, 41G, and 41R.
[0110] The projector 1 includes an actuator temperature sensor 61 that detects the temperature of the first actuator 55 and the temperature of the second actuator 56, and a thermoelectric conversion device control unit 65 that controls the blue thermoelectric conversion device 44B. The thermoelectric conversion device control unit 65 reduces the output of the blue thermoelectric conversion device 44B when at least one of the detected temperatures of the first actuator 55 and the second actuator 56 exceeds a first threshold value. The first threshold value corresponds to a predetermined value.
[0111] Here, the first actuator 55 includes a first driving unit 551 having a first magnet 552 and a first coil 553, and a second driving unit 555 having a first magnet 556 and a first coil 557. For this reason, when the temperature of the first actuator 55 increases and the temperatures of the first magnets 552, 556 increase, demagnetization occurs in the first magnets 552, 556. The same applies to the second actuator 56 having the second magnets 562, 566 and the second coils 563, 567. In response to this, when at least one of the temperatures of the first actuator 55 and the second actuator 56 exceeds the first threshold value, the thermoelectric conversion device control unit 65 reduces the output of the thermoelectric conversion devices 44B, 44G, and 44R. As for the blue thermoelectric conversion device 44B, when at least one of the temperatures exceeds the first threshold value, the thermoelectric conversion device control unit 65 reduces the output of the blue thermoelectric conversion device 44B. This makes it possible to suppress a further increase in temperature of each actuator 55, 56. Therefore, it is possible to suppress a decrease in the performance of each actuator 55, 56.
[0112] [First Modification of the First Embodiment] The first actuator 55 included in the light path shift module 5 according to the first embodiment described above includes the first drive unit 551 arranged in the +Y direction with respect to the first oscillation axis Rx1, and the second drive unit 555 arranged in the -Y direction with respect to the first oscillation axis Rx1. As described above, the +Y direction is the direction in which the extension unit 425 extends from the contact unit 424, and the -Y direction is the opposite direction to the +Y direction. However, the present invention is not limited to this, and the first actuator 55 of the light path shift module 5 does not necessarily have to include one of the first drive unit 551 and the second drive unit 555. For example, the first actuator 55 may be configured to include a second drive unit 555 disposed in the -Y direction with respect to the first oscillation axis Rx1, without including the first drive unit 551 having the first magnet 552 and the first coil 553. In this case, the magnets 556, 562, and 566 included in the light path shift module 5 can be reliably separated from the above-mentioned areas Ar1B and Ar2R. Therefore, demagnetization of the magnets 556, 562, and 566 can be suppressed.
[0113] In such a projector 1, each of the first actuator 55 and the second actuator 56 is disposed in a direction opposite to the +Y direction in which the extension portion 425 of the heat diffuser 42 extends from the contact portion 424 with respect to the first oscillation axis Rx1. According to this configuration, the first actuator 55 and the second actuator 56 can be disposed at a position farther away from the blue thermoelectric conversion device 44B. Therefore, the performance of each of the actuators 55, 56 can be prevented from being deteriorated due to heat.
[0114] [Second Modification of the First Embodiment] The panel module 4 according to the above-described first embodiment includes the cooler 45 which is a heat sink. However, the present invention is not limited to this, and the cooler 45 may be a cooler configured to allow a liquid refrigerant to flow therethrough and configured to radiate heat transferred to the cooler 45 to the liquid refrigerant.
[0115] [Second embodiment] Next, a second embodiment of the present disclosure will be described. The projector according to this embodiment has a similar configuration to the projector 1 according to the first embodiment, but the configuration of the light path shift module is different. [0123] [Base configuration] The base 74 is a frame body formed in a substantially rectangular shape when viewed from the light emission side of the light path shift module 7. The base 74 holds the second movable part 73 to be swingable about the second oscillation axis Rx2, and also holds the second coils 563, 567 of the second actuator 56. The base 74 has an opening 741 through which the projected image light passes. [0125] [Configuration of the first actuator] In the light path shift module 7, the first actuator 55 swings the first movable part 72, thereby swinging the light path changing member 51 around the first oscillation axis Rx1. Of the first drive unit 551 and the second drive unit 555 included in the first actuator 55, the first drive unit 551 is disposed at a position on the second oscillation axis Rx2 and in the +Y direction with respect to the first oscillation axis Rx1, and the second drive unit 555 is disposed at a position on the second oscillation axis Rx2 and in the -Y direction with respect to the first oscillation axis Rx1. That is, in the light path shift module 7 as well, the first actuator 55 is disposed at a position on the second oscillation axis Rx2. The first driving portion 551 has a first magnet 552 fixed to the fixed portion 5231 of the first movable portion 72 , and a first coil 553 supported by the second movable portion 73 . [0126] [Configuration of the second actuator] In the light path shift module 7, the second actuator 56 swings the second movable part 73, thereby swinging the light path changing member 51 about the second swing axis Rx2. The second driving portion 565 has a second magnet 566 fixed to the second movable portion 73 and a second coil 567 supported by the base 74.
[0127] [Layout of each actuator] Fig. 19 is a diagram showing the positional relationship between the panel modules 4B, 4R and each of the actuators 55, 56 when viewed from the light emission side of the light path shift module 7. In other words, Fig. 19 is a diagram showing the positional relationship between the areas Ar1B, Ar2R and each of the actuators 55, 56. Note that Fig. 19 shows the +X direction, +Y direction, and +Z direction in the blue panel module 4B. In this embodiment as well, the magnets 552, 556, 562, and 566 are disposed at positions away from the areas Ar1B and Ar2R, as shown in FIG.
[0128] Specifically, the first magnet 552 is disposed at a position separated from the region Ar1B in the -Y direction, and is disposed at a position separated from the region Ar2R in both the -Y and -Z directions. The first magnet 556 is disposed at a position separated from the region Ar1B in the -Y direction and the +Z direction, and is disposed at a position separated from the region Ar2R in the -Y direction. The second magnet 562 is disposed at a position spaced apart from the region Ar1B in the +Z direction, and is disposed at a position spaced apart from the region Ar2R in the -Z direction. The second magnet 566 is disposed at a position separated from the region Ar1B in the -Y direction and the +Z direction, and is disposed at a position separated from the region Ar2R in the -Y direction and the -Z direction. As described above, the −Y direction is the opposite direction to the direction in which the extension portion 425 extends from the contact portion 424.
[0129] Like this 、 By arranging the magnets 552, 556, 562, and 566 away from the areas Ar1B and Ar2R, it is possible to suppress the thermal influence of the thermoelectric conversion devices 44B and 44R on the magnets 552, 556, 562, and 566. As in the first embodiment, the green panel module 4G includes a light path shift module 41 and a light combining element 36 sandwiched therebetween. 7 Therefore, the thermal influence from the green thermoelectric conversion device 44G to the magnets 552, 556, 562, and 566 can be suppressed. Therefore, it is possible to suppress demagnetization due to heat in each of the magnets 552, 556, 562, and 566, and the light path shift module 7 This can prevent the operation of the device from being hindered by heat.
[0130] [Effects of the second embodiment] The projector according to this embodiment described above provides the following effects in addition to the effects similar to those of the projector 1 according to the first embodiment. The light path shift module 7 includes a first movable part 72 , a second movable part 73 , and a base 74 . The first movable portion 72 holds the optical path changing member 51 . The second movable portion 73 holds the first movable portion 72 so as to be swingable about a first oscillation axis Rx1. The base 74 holds the second movable part 73 so as to be swingable about the second oscillation axis Rx2. The first actuator 55 is disposed on the second oscillation axis Rx2 and between the first movable part 72 and the second movable part 73 when viewed from the light emission side of the light path shift module 7. The first actuator 55 oscillates the first movable part 72 around the first oscillation axis Rx1. The second actuator 56 is disposed on the first oscillation axis Rx1 and between the second movable part 73 and the base 74. The second actuator 56 causes the second movable part 73 to oscillate about the second oscillation axis Rx2.
[0131] According to this configuration, like the light path shift module 5 according to the first embodiment, the light path changing member 51 can be oscillated around each of the first oscillation axis Rx1 and the second oscillation axis Rx2 by the actuators 55, 56. This allows multiple pixels included in the projected image light to be shifted to multiple positions. Furthermore, the actuators 55, 56 can be arranged at positions away from the area Ar1B corresponding to the side end 444 of the blue thermoelectric conversion device 44B, and the actuators 55, 56 can be arranged at positions away from the area Ar2R corresponding to the side end 445 of the red thermoelectric conversion device 44R. This makes it possible to prevent the performance of the actuators 55, 56 from being deteriorated by heat.
[0132] [Modifications of the embodiment] The present disclosure is not limited to the above-described embodiments, and modifications and improvements within the scope that can achieve the object of the present disclosure are included in the present disclosure. In the above embodiments, each of the panel modules 4B, 4G, and 4R has the same configuration. That is, each of the panel modules 4B, 4G, and 4R includes a liquid crystal panel 41, a heat diffuser 42, a holding member 43, a thermoelectric conversion device 44, and a cooler 45. However, this is not limited thereto, and the configuration of at least one of the panel modules 4B, 4G, and 4R may be different from the configuration of the other panel modules. For example, the panel modules 4B and 4G each include a liquid crystal panel 41, a heat diffuser 42, a holding member 43, a thermoelectric conversion device 44, and a cooler 45, while the red panel module 4R does not need to include at least one of the heat diffuser 42 and the thermoelectric conversion device 44. Also, the holding member 43 may not be included.
[0133] In each of the above embodiments, the first actuator 55 includes the first drive unit 551 and the second drive unit 555, and the second actuator 56 includes the first drive unit 561 and the second drive unit 565. However, this is not limited thereto, and as described above, it is sufficient that the first actuator 55 includes one of the first drive unit 551 and the second drive unit 555, and it is sufficient that the second actuator 56 includes one of the first drive unit 561 and the second drive unit 565.
[0134] In each of the above embodiments, the first magnets 552, 556 and the second magnets 562, 566 are arranged in a region outside the blue panel module 4B and at positions away from the region Ar1B corresponding to the side end 444 that is the end of the blue thermoelectric conversion device 44B on the light path shift modules 5, 7 side. However, it is sufficient that the first magnets 552, 556 and the second magnets 562, 566 are away from the side end 444 of the blue thermoelectric conversion device 44B. Therefore, at least a part of the magnets may be arranged in the region Ar1B as long as it is away from the side end 444. Similarly, the first magnets 552, 556 and the second magnets 562, 566 are arranged in a region outside the red panel module 4R and at a position away from the region Ar2R corresponding to the side end 445 which is the end of the red thermoelectric conversion device 44R on the light path shift modules 5, 7 side. However, it is sufficient that the first magnets 552, 556 and the second magnets 562, 566 are away from the side end 445 of the red thermoelectric conversion device 44R. Therefore, at least a part of the magnets may be arranged in the region Ar2R as long as they are away from the side end 445. Furthermore, the direction in which the first magnets 552, 556 and the second magnets 562, 566 move away from the side ends 444, 445 is not limited to the above.
[0135] In each of the above embodiments, the first actuator 55 is disposed on the second oscillation axis Rx2. However, this is not limiting, and the first actuator 55 may be disposed offset from the second oscillation axis Rx2. For example, the first actuator 55 may be offset toward the emission side of the projected image light with respect to the second oscillation axis Rx2, or may be offset toward the incidence side of the projected image light. Furthermore, the first actuator 55 may be offset toward the blue panel module 4B side with respect to the second oscillation axis Rx2, or may be offset toward the red panel module 4R side.
[0136] In each of the above embodiments, the panel temperature sensor 62 includes a blue temperature sensor 62B that detects the temperature of the blue liquid crystal panel 41B, a green temperature sensor 62G that detects the temperature of the green liquid crystal panel 41G, and a red temperature sensor 62R that detects the temperature of the red liquid crystal panel 41R. However, this is not limited to the above, and at least one of the temperature sensors 62B, 62G, and 62R may be omitted. For example, the panel temperature sensor 62 may include only the blue temperature sensor 62B.
[0137] In each of the above embodiments, the shift control unit 67 executes one of the first shift control and the second shift control based on the temperatures of the liquid crystal panels 41B, 41G, and 41R. However, this is not limiting, and the shift control unit 67 may execute one of the shift controls based only on the temperature of the blue liquid crystal panel 41B, for example. Furthermore, the shift control unit 67 may execute one of the first shift control and the second shift control regardless of the temperatures of the liquid crystal panels 41B, 41G, and 41R. Furthermore, in the second shift control, the shift control unit 67 shifts the optical path of the projected image light so that the projected image light is projected to the first position P1 and the third position P3. However, this is not limited thereto, and the shift control unit 67 may shift the optical path of the projected image light so that the projected image light is projected to the first position P1 and the second position P2 or the fourth position P4. In other words, the shift control unit 67 may shift the optical path of the projected image light so that the projected image light is projected to two positions among the positions P1 to P4.
[0138] In each of the above embodiments, the panel control unit 66 executes one of the first panel control and the second panel control based on the temperatures of the liquid crystal panels 41B, 41G, and 41R. However, this is not limiting, and the panel control unit 66 may execute one of the panel controls based only on the temperature of the blue liquid crystal panel 41B, for example. Furthermore, panel control section 66 may execute one of the first panel control and the second panel control, regardless of the temperatures of liquid crystal panels 41B, 41G, and 41R.
[0139] In the above embodiments, the panel control unit 66 sets the refresh rate of each of the liquid crystal panels 41B, 41G, and 41R to 240 Hz in the first panel control, and sets the refresh rate of each of the liquid crystal panels 41B, 41G, and 41R to 120 Hz in the second panel control. However, the refresh rate of each of the liquid crystal panels 41B, 41G, and 41R in the first panel control is not limited to 240 Hz, and may be another frequency. Similarly, the refresh rate of each of the liquid crystal panels 41B, 41G, and 41R in the second panel control is not limited to 120 Hz, and may be another frequency. That is, the refresh rate of each of the liquid crystal panels 41B, 41G, and 41R in the second panel control may be lower than the refresh rate of each of the liquid crystal panels 41B, 41G, and 41R in the first panel control.
[0140] In each of the above embodiments, the actuator temperature sensor 61 that detects the temperature of the first actuator 55 and the temperature of the second actuator 56 includes a first temperature sensor 611 that detects the temperature of the first magnet 552, a second temperature sensor 612 that detects the temperature of the first magnet 556, a third temperature sensor 613 that detects the temperature of the second magnet 562, and a fourth temperature sensor 614 that detects the temperature of the second magnet 566. Furthermore, the actuator temperature sensor 61 may include only a temperature sensor that detects the temperature of the magnet that is closest to the areas Ar1B and Ar2R among the magnets 552, 556, 562, and 566. Furthermore, the actuator temperature sensor 61 may not be required.
[0141] In each of the above embodiments, the thermoelectric conversion device control unit 65 reduces the output of each of the thermoelectric conversion devices 44B, 44G, and 44R when the temperature of at least one of the first actuator 55 and the second actuator 56 exceeds a predetermined value. That is, the thermoelectric conversion device control unit 65 reduces the output of each of the thermoelectric conversion devices 44B, 44G, and 44R when the temperature of at least one of the magnets 552, 556, 562, and 566 exceeds a first threshold value. However, this is not limited thereto, and the thermoelectric conversion device control unit 65 does not have to reduce the output of each of the thermoelectric conversion devices 44B, 44G, and 44R even when the temperature of at least one of the magnets 552, 556, 562, and 566 exceeds the first threshold value.
[0142] In each of the above-described embodiments, the image projection device 3 includes the light source 31, the color separation module 32, the image forming unit 33, and the projection optical module 37, and each component is arranged in the layout shown in Fig. 1. However, the present invention is not limited to this, and the configuration and layout of the image projection device 3 can be changed as appropriate.
[0143] [Summary of this disclosure] The following is a summary of this disclosure. [Appendix 1] a first panel module that outputs a first image light obtained by modulating the first light, with a first axis as an optical axis; a second panel module that outputs second image light obtained by modulating the second light, with a second axis perpendicular to the first axis as an optical axis; a third panel module that outputs a third image light obtained by modulating the third light, with the first axis as an optical axis; a light combining element having a first incident surface onto which the first image light is incident, a second incident surface onto which the second image light is incident, a third incident surface onto which the third image light is incident, and an exit surface from which projected image light obtained by combining the first image light, the second image light, and the third image light with the second axis as an optical axis is exited; a projection optical module that projects the projection image light emitted from the light combining element; a light path shift module that shifts an optical path of the projection image light that is incident on the projection optical module from the light combining element, The light path shift module includes: an optical path changing member disposed in an optical path between the light combining element and the projection optical module; a first actuator having a first magnet and a first coil, and configured to swing the optical path changing member around a first swing axis along the first axis; a second actuator having a second magnet and a second coil, and configured to swing the optical path changing member about a second swing axis along a third axis perpendicular to the first axis and the second axis; The first panel module includes: a first light liquid crystal panel that emits the first image light; a first light heat diffuser extending from the first light liquid crystal panel along the third axis, transferring heat between the first light liquid crystal panel and the first light liquid crystal panel, and diffusing the received heat therein; a first optical thermoelectric conversion device that transfers heat between the first optical heat diffuser and the first optical thermoelectric conversion device; a first optical cooler that sandwiches the first optical thermoelectric conversion device between itself and the first optical heat diffuser and transfers heat between the first optical thermoelectric conversion device and a first optical cooler, a first actuator and a second actuator disposed in a position away from an end of the first light thermoelectric conversion device on the light path shift module side;
[0144] According to this configuration, when the surface of the first optical thermoelectric conversion device in contact with the first optical heat diffuser becomes a heat generating surface, the heat generated in the first optical thermoelectric conversion device is transferred to the first optical heat diffuser, diffused inside the first optical heat diffuser, and transferred to the first optical liquid crystal panel, so that when the temperature of the first optical liquid crystal panel is low, the first optical liquid crystal panel can be heated. On the other hand, the heat generated in the first light liquid crystal panel is dissipated to the first light heat diffuser and then diffused inside the first light heat diffuser. At this time, the first light thermoelectric conversion device absorbs the heat of the first light heat diffuser and dissipates the absorbed heat to the first light cooler, so that the heat generated in the first light liquid crystal panel can be quickly dissipated to the first light cooler. Therefore, when the temperature of the first light liquid crystal panel is high, the first light liquid crystal panel can be cooled. In this way, by using the first optical thermoelectric conversion device, the temperature of the first optical liquid crystal panel can be adjusted to an appropriate temperature in a short time, and the responsiveness of the first optical liquid crystal panel can be maintained in a good state in a short time. Therefore, it is possible to accommodate high-speed pixel shifting by the optical path shift module that shifts the positions of multiple pixels included in the projected image light by swinging the optical path changing member about each of the first and second swing axes.
[0145] Even if the first optical thermoelectric conversion device generates a relatively high amount of heat, the first actuator and the second actuator are disposed at a position away from the end of the first optical thermoelectric conversion device on the light path shift module side. This makes it possible to prevent the heat transported by the first optical thermoelectric conversion device from affecting each actuator. Therefore, it is possible to prevent the performance of each actuator from being reduced by heat. In this way, the responsiveness of the liquid crystal of the first light liquid crystal panel and the operating performance of each actuator of the light path shift module can be maintained in a good state, so that an image with good image quality and high pseudo resolution can be projected.
[0146] [Appendix 2] In the projector according to claim 1, The third panel module is a third light liquid crystal panel that emits the third image light; a third light heat diffuser extending from the third light liquid crystal panel along the third axis, transferring heat between the third light liquid crystal panel and the third light liquid crystal panel, and diffusing the received heat therein; a third optical thermoelectric conversion device that transfers heat between the third optical heat diffuser and the third optical thermoelectric conversion device; a third optical cooler that sandwiches the third optical thermoelectric conversion device between itself and the third optical heat diffuser and transfers heat between the third optical thermoelectric conversion device and the third optical cooler, a first actuator and a second actuator disposed in a position away from an end of the third light thermoelectric conversion device on the light path shift module side;
[0147] With this configuration, as in the case of the first optical thermoelectric conversion device, it is possible to prevent the heat transported by the third optical thermoelectric conversion device from affecting the first and second actuators, and therefore to prevent the performance of each actuator from being reduced by the heat transported by the third optical thermoelectric conversion device.
[0148] [Appendix 3] In the projector according to claim 1 or 2, The projector, wherein the first actuator is disposed on the second oscillation axis. Here, as described above, the second oscillation axis is an oscillation axis along the third axis perpendicular to each of the first axis and the second axis. Therefore, the first actuator is disposed at a position separated from the first panel module and the third panel module. Therefore, the influence of heat from the first optical thermoelectric conversion device on each actuator can be suppressed. The same applies when the third panel module has a third optical thermoelectric conversion device.
[0149] [Appendix 4] In the projector according to claim 3, A projector characterized in that the first actuator and the second actuator are each arranged in a direction opposite to a direction in which the first optical heat diffuser extends with respect to the first oscillation axis. With this configuration, the first actuator and the second actuator can be disposed at a position farther away from the first light thermoelectric conversion device, thereby preventing the performance of each actuator from being deteriorated due to heat.
[0150] [Appendix 5] In the projector according to any one of Supplementary Note 1 to Supplementary Note 3, The light path shift module includes: A first movable portion that holds the optical path changing member; a second movable portion that holds the first movable portion so as to be swingable around the first swing axis; a base that holds the second movable part so that the second movable part can swing around the second swing axis, the first actuator is disposed on the second oscillation shaft and between the first movable part and the second movable part when viewed from the light emission side of the light path shift module, and oscillates the first movable part about the first oscillation shaft; the second actuator is disposed between the second movable part and the base in a direction opposite to a direction in which the first optical heat diffuser extends with respect to the first oscillation axis when viewed from the light output side of the optical path shift module, and causes the second movable part to oscillate around the second oscillation axis.
[0151] According to this configuration, the first actuator and the second actuator arranged as described above can swing the optical path changing member around the first swing axis and the second swing axis, respectively, thereby shifting a plurality of pixels included in the projected image light to a plurality of positions. Furthermore, the actuators can be disposed at positions away from the region corresponding to the side end of the first optical thermoelectric conversion device in the light path shift module, which makes it possible to prevent the performance of the actuators from being deteriorated by heat.
[0152] [Appendix 6] In the projector according to any one of Supplementary Note 1 to Supplementary Note 3, The light path shift module includes: A first movable portion that holds the optical path changing member; a second movable portion that holds the first movable portion so as to be swingable around the first swing axis; a base that holds the second movable part so that the second movable part can swing around the second swing axis, the first actuator is disposed on the second oscillation shaft and between the first movable part and the second movable part when viewed from the light emission side of the light path shift module, and oscillates the first movable part about the first oscillation shaft; A projector characterized in that the second actuator is disposed on the first oscillation axis and between the second movable part and the base, and causes the second movable part to oscillate around the second oscillation axis.
[0153] According to this configuration, like the light path shift module described above, the light path changing member can be swung around the first oscillation axis and the second oscillation axis by the first actuator and the second actuator, respectively, so that a plurality of pixels included in the projected image light can be shifted to a plurality of positions. Furthermore, the actuators can be disposed at positions away from the region corresponding to the side end of the first optical thermoelectric conversion device in the light path shift module, which makes it possible to prevent the performance of the actuators from being deteriorated by heat.
[0154] [Appendix 7] 7. The projector according to claim 1, a panel temperature sensor for detecting a temperature of the first light liquid crystal panel; a shift control unit for controlling the light path shift module; The projector is characterized in that, when the temperature of the first light liquid crystal panel detected by the panel temperature sensor is below a threshold value, the shift control unit switches from a first shift control in which a position of a pixel included in the projection image light emitted from the light combining element is sequentially shifted from a first position to a plurality of shift positions, to a second shift control in which the position of the pixel is sequentially shifted between the first position and one of the plurality of shift positions.
[0155] Here, when the temperature of the first light liquid crystal panel is low, the responsiveness of the first light liquid crystal panel decreases, and the first light liquid crystal panel cannot form images at a high refresh rate. On the other hand, when the temperature of the first light liquid crystal panel is low and the responsiveness of the first light liquid crystal panel is low, the shift control unit switches from the first shift control to the second shift control. By switching the pixel shift on two axes of the first oscillation axis and the second oscillation axis to a pseudo one-axis shift in this manner, degradation of image quality can be suppressed even when an image is formed at a low refresh rate by the first light liquid crystal panel. On the other hand, when the temperature of the first light liquid crystal panel becomes appropriate, it is possible to return from the second shift control to the first shift control. Therefore, it is possible to operate the first light liquid crystal panel and the light path shift module according to the temperature of the first light liquid crystal panel while suppressing deterioration in image quality.
[0156] [Appendix 8] 8. The projector according to claim 7, a panel control unit for controlling the first light liquid crystal panel; The projector is characterized in that, when the temperature of the first light liquid crystal panel detected by the panel temperature sensor is lower than the threshold value, the panel control unit switches from a first panel control in which the first image light projected at the first position and each of the multiple first image lights projected onto each of the multiple shift positions are sequentially formed at a first refresh rate to a second panel control in which the first image light projected at the first position and the first image light projected onto one of the multiple shift positions are sequentially formed at a second refresh rate lower than the first refresh rate. According to this configuration, the panel control unit executes the first panel control, so that the first image light to be projected at each position can be formed at a high refresh rate. On the other hand, the panel control unit executes the second panel control to display the image at a low refresh rate. Projected to the first positionThe first image light and the first image light projected at the one shift position can be formed sequentially. Therefore, even if the response of the liquid crystal is low, the image projection can be continued while suppressing deterioration of image quality.
[0157] [Appendix 9] 9. The projector according to claim 8, The plurality of shift positions include: a second position set in a first direction relative to the first position; a third position set in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction with respect to the second position; a fourth position set in the second direction relative to the first position, The panel control unit includes: In the first panel control, the first image light projected at the first position, the first image light projected at the second position, the first image light projected at the third position, and the first image light projected at the fourth position are sequentially formed at the first refresh rate; In the second panel control, the first image light projected at the first position and the first image light projected at the third position are sequentially formed at the second refresh rate; the second refresh rate is half the first refresh rate; The projector is characterized in that, in the second shift control, the shift control unit shifts the projected image light to the first position at a timing when the first image light projected to the first position is formed, and shifts the projected image light to the third position at a timing when the first image light projected to the third position is formed.
[0158] According to this configuration, when the temperature of the first light liquid crystal panel is higher than the threshold value, a high-resolution image having four times the resolution can be displayed compared to when the light path shift module does not operate. On the other hand, when the temperature of the first light liquid crystal panel is below the threshold value, the projection image light projected to the first position and the projection image light projected to the third position are alternately projected. The refresh rate of the first light liquid crystal panel at this time is a second refresh rate that is half the first refresh rate when the first panel control is executed. Therefore, even if the responsiveness of the first light liquid crystal panel is low, the projection image light can be projected sequentially to the first position and the third position by lowering the refresh rate of the first light liquid crystal panel. Therefore, image projection can be maintained while suppressing deterioration in the quality of the projected image.
[0159] [Appendix 10] In the projector according to claim 8 or 9, the second panel module includes a second light liquid crystal panel that emits the second image light, the third panel module includes a third light liquid crystal panel that emits the third image light, The panel temperature sensor includes: a first panel sensor for detecting a temperature of the first light liquid crystal panel; a second panel sensor for detecting a temperature of the second light liquid crystal panel; a third panel sensor for detecting a temperature of the third light liquid crystal panel; When at least one of the temperature of the first light liquid crystal panel, the temperature of the second light liquid crystal panel, and the temperature of the third light liquid crystal panel is lower than the threshold value, The shift control unit operates the light path shift module under the second shift control, The projector, wherein the panel control unit operates each of the first light liquid crystal panel, the second light liquid crystal panel, and the third light liquid crystal panel through the second panel control.
[0160] According to this configuration, when the temperature of the first light liquid crystal panel, the temperature of the second light liquid crystal panel, and the temperature of the third light liquid crystal panel are each equal to or higher than a threshold value, the shift control unit executes the first shift control, and the panel control unit executes the first panel control. On the other hand, when at least one of the temperatures of the first light liquid crystal panel, the second light liquid crystal panel, and the third light liquid crystal panel is below the threshold value, the shift control unit implements the second shift control, and the panel control unit executes the second panel control for each liquid crystal panel. Therefore, it is possible to operate each liquid crystal panel and the light path shift module in accordance with the responsiveness of each liquid crystal panel.
[0161] [Appendix 11] 11. The projector according to claim 1, an actuator temperature sensor that detects a temperature of the first actuator and a temperature of the second actuator; a thermoelectric conversion device control unit that controls the first light thermoelectric conversion device, The thermoelectric conversion device control unit reduces the output of the first light thermoelectric conversion device when at least one of the temperatures of the first actuator and the second actuator detected by the actuator temperature sensor exceeds a predetermined value.
[0162] Here, the first actuator has a first magnet and a first coil. Therefore, when the temperature of the first actuator increases and the temperature of the first magnet increases, the first magnet is demagnetized. The same applies to the second actuator having a second magnet and a second coil. In response to this, when at least one of the temperatures of the first actuator and the second actuator exceeds a predetermined value, the thermoelectric conversion device control unit reduces the output of the first light thermoelectric conversion device, thereby preventing a further increase in temperature of each actuator and thus preventing a decrease in the performance of each actuator.
