Description

[Technical field]

[0001] The present invention relates to a combination comprising a fungicidal active compound and a diamide insecticide in combination with a plant health promoter, which is particularly suitable for controlling nuisance pests / animal pests (e.g. insects, mites and / or nematodes) and nuisance plant pathogenic fungi. [Background technology]

[0002] Insecticides are substances used to kill insects. Insecticides include ovicides and larvicides, which are used against insect eggs and larvae, respectively.

[0003] Diamide insecticides are a relatively new group of insecticides that include the highly potent lepidoptericides flubendiamide and chlorantraniliprole and its analogue cyantraniliprole. The development of diamides is described in the following publication: Pest Manag Sci. 2013 Jan;69(1):7-14.

[0004] Chlorantraniliprole and cyantraniliprole are anthranilic acid diamide insecticidal compounds that act against Ca 2+ By targeting and disrupting the balance and ryanodine receptors, they show larvicidal activity as orally ingested toxicants. Fungicides are essential and important tools used by farmers to control diseases and improve yield and crop quality. Over the years, a variety of fungicides have been developed with many desirable attributes (e.g., specificity, systemic, curative and repellent action, and high activity at low doses).

[0005] Various other classes of fungicides are also known in the art, such as quinone external inhibitors (QoIs), ergosterol biosynthesis inhibitors, fungicides acting at multiple sites, and fungicides acting at mitosis.

[0006] Dithiocarbamates are known in the art as multi-site fungicides. These fungicides are used in over 70 crops for broad-spectrum disease control. Mancozeb is particularly important in controlling fast-spreading destructive diseases (e.g., Phytophthora infestans, Venturia inaequalis, etc.). Dithiocarbamate fungicides (especially mancozeb) are particularly useful in disease control because of their broad-spectrum activity, high tolerance by crop plants, and general usefulness in controlling fungal plant diseases that cannot be controlled by active compounds that act only at a single target site in the fungus.

[0007] A variety of plant health promoters are known in the art (e.g., fertilizers, biologicals, and plant additives that can promote growth and improve plant yields). Silica is the second most abundant element in the earth's crust. A variety of studies have been conducted that show the importance of silica in plant growth. There are also studies that show that silica is incorporated in the same amount as any other known micronutrient (Role of Orthosilicic Acid (OSA) Based Formulation in Improving Plant Growth and Development, Jain et.al, Silicon (2016)). A large number of silica-based fertilizers and plant growth promoters are known in the art. However, none of them are mixed with a combination of fungicides and insecticides.

[0008] In US 7696232 B2 there is disclosed a composition comprising chlorantraniliprole and other active substances such as fungicides.

[0009] Therefore, the field needs a combination of anthranilamide insecticide compounds with fungicides and plant health promoters to not only improve the spectrum, but also to help further promote plant health and improve yield.Since the reduced tolerance of crops leads to lower application rates and the observed increase in resistance, the combination of active substances that combines curative and preventive active substances and allows a broader disease control spectrum and improved plant health at low dosages is needed. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0028] The term "disease control" as used herein refers to the control and prevention of disease. Examples of control effects include deviations from naturally occurring events such as the disappearance, delay, and reduction of fungal disease. The term "plant" refers to all physical parts of a plant (e.g., seeds, seedlings, saplings, roots, tubers, stems, trunks, leaves, and fruits). The term "locus" of a plant as used herein is intended to include the location where the plant is growing and refers to the location where the plant propagation material of the plant is sown or placed in the soil. The term "plant propagation material" is understood to refer to the reproductive parts of a plant (e.g., seeds, vegetative material (e.g., cuttings or tubers, roots, fruits, tubers, bulbs, rhizomes, and plant parts, sprouted plants, and young plants that will be transplanted after germination or emergence from the soil)). These seedlings can be transplanted by total or partial treatment by immersion after protection. The term "agriculturally acceptable amount of an active material" refers to an active material that eliminates or suppresses the plant disease which it is desired to control, in an amount that is not significantly toxic to the plant being treated.

[0029] Surprisingly, it has been found that the insecticidal and / or acaricidal and / or antibacterial, or fungicidal and / or plant-activating and / or yield-enhancing activity of the active compound combinations according to the invention is significantly higher than the sum of the activities of the individual active compounds.

[0030] Surprisingly, it was found that the addition of the plant health promoting additive to the diamide insecticide synergistically enhanced the efficacy of the diamide insecticide, such that the insecticidal activity of the diamide insecticide in the presence of the plant health promoter of the present invention was surprisingly higher than in the absence of the plant health promoter.

[0031] More surprisingly, it has been found that adding a plant health additive to a combination of a multi-site fungicide (preferably a dithiocarbamate fungicide) and a diamide insecticide compound provides surprising and unexpected benefits.Surprisingly, the addition of a plant health additive (e.g., a silicic acid-based additive) in combination with a multi-site fungicide and a diamide insecticide improves efficacy, surprisingly reduces fungal disease occurrence, and improves pest control compared to the efficacy seen only when the diamide insecticide is combined with at least one other fungicide.Furthermore, it has been found that adding a plant health additive to a combination of a multi-site fungicide and a diamide insecticide improves crop greening and increases yield from the crop to which it is applied.

[0032] These surprising benefits of the combinations of the present invention were not observed when the multi-site fungicide (preferably a dithiocarbamate fungicide) was not present in the combination or when the health-promoting additive was not added to the combination, and therefore these surprising benefits of the combinations of the present invention can be attributed to the inclusion in or combination of the dithiocarbamate fungicide and diamide insecticide with the plant health-promoting additive.

[0033] Thus, in an aspect, the present invention provides a combination comprising: (a) at least one diamide insecticide selected from broflanilide, chlorantraniliprole, cyantraniliprole, cyclaniliprole, cyhalodiamide, flubendiamide, and tetraniliprole; (b) At least one silica-based plant health promoting additive.

[0034] In another aspect, the present invention provides a combination comprising: (a) at least one diamide insecticide selected from broflanilide, chlorantraniliprole, cyantraniliprole, cyclaniliprole, cyhalodiamide, flubendiamide, and tetraniliprole; (b) at least one multi-site fungicide; and (c) At least one silica-based plant health promoting additive.
