Abstract

Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a communication method, a communication device, and a computer storage medium for communication. According to the embodiments of the present disclosure, a first physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) indicating a transmission configuration indication (TCI) state is transmitted from a network device to a terminal device. The terminal device applies the TCI state based on a first time threshold to monitor a second PDCCH transmitted from the network device. The terminal device applies the TCI state based on a second time threshold to receive a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) transmitted from the network device. This allows a common beam used for the PDCCH and the PDSCH, indicated by the common TCI state, to be updated, and the updated beam can be applied to transmission and reception of the PDCCH and the PDSCH.

[0022] The principles of the present disclosure will now be described with reference to some exemplary embodiments. It should be understood that these embodiments are set forth for illustrative purposes only, to assist those skilled in the art in understanding and implementing the present disclosure, and do not imply any limitations on the scope of the present disclosure. The disclosure described herein can be implemented in various ways different from the methods described below.

[0023] In the following description and claims, unless otherwise defined, all technical and scientific terms used herein have the same meaning as commonly understood by one of ordinary skill in the art to which this disclosure pertains.

[0024] As used herein, the singular forms "a," "an," and "said" include the plural unless the context clearly indicates otherwise. The term "comprises" and variations thereof should be understood as open-ended terms meaning "including, but not limited to." The term "based on" should be understood as "based at least in part on." The terms "some embodiments" and "embodiments" should be understood as "at least some embodiments." The term "another embodiment" should be understood as "at least one other embodiment." Terms such as "first," "second," and the like can refer to different or the same object. Other explicit and implicit definitions may be included below.

[0025] In some instances, values, procedures, or devices are referred to as "best," "lowest," "highest," "minimum," "maximum," etc. Such descriptions are intended to illustrate that selections can be made from among many functional alternatives used, and it should be understood that such selections are not necessarily better, smaller, higher, or otherwise more preferred than other selections.

[0026] In the 3GPP® RAN#86 meeting, it has been agreed to support enhancements for multi-beam operation, primarily targeted at FR2, but also applicable to FR1. It has been agreed to identify and specify features to facilitate more efficient (lower latency and overhead) DL and UL beam management. For example, it has been proposed to support common beams for transmission and reception of data and control information for DL and UL, especially for in-band CA. It has also been proposed to support a TCI framework for DL and UL beam indication. However, the current 3GPP® specifications do not provide details on common beams for transmission and reception of data and control information. For example, it is unclear how to update the common beams used for PDCCH and PDSCH, and when to apply the updated beams. It is unclear how to ensure that the common beams are updated successfully. Additionally, it is unclear what impact such common beam updates have on beam failure detection.

[0027] The embodiments of the present disclosure provide a solution for beam management to solve the above problems and one or more other potential problems. According to the solution, a first PDCCH indicating a TCI state is transmitted from a network device to a terminal device. The TCI state is set in the terminal device to monitor a PDCCH in a CORESET and receive a PDSCH scheduled by the monitored PDCCH. The terminal device applies the TCI state based on a first time threshold to monitor a second PDCCH transmitted from a network device in the CORESET. The terminal device applies the TCI state based on a second time threshold to receive a PDSCH transmitted from the network device. Thus, a common beam used for PDCCH and PDSCH, indicated by a common TCI state, can be updated, and the updated beam can be applied to transmission and reception of PDCCH and PDSCH.

[0028] Hereinafter, the principles and embodiments of the present disclosure will be described in detail with reference to FIGS.

[0029] FIG 1 illustrates an exemplary communication network 100 in which embodiments of the present disclosure may be implemented. Network 100 includes a network device 110 and a terminal device 120 that receives service from network device 110. Network 100 may provide at least one serving cell 102 to serve terminal device 120. It should be understood that the number of network devices, terminal devices, and / or serving cells in FIG 1 is provided for illustrative purposes only and no limitation is implied. Network 100 may include any suitable number of network devices, terminal devices, and / or serving cells suitable for implementing embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0030] As used herein, the term "terminal device" refers to any device having wireless or wired communication capabilities. Examples of terminal devices include, but are not limited to, user equipment (UE), personal computers, desktop computers, mobile phones, cellular phones, smartphones, personal digital assistants (PDAs), portable computers, tablets, wearable devices, Internet of Things (IoT) devices, any Internet of Things (IoE) devices, machine type communication (MTC) devices, in-vehicle devices for V2X communication, etc., where the "X" in V2X represents a pedestrian, a vehicle, or infrastructure / network, or an image capture device such as a digital camera, a gaming device, a music storage and playback device, or an Internet appliance that allows wireless or wired Internet access and browsing, etc. For the purposes of explanation, some embodiments will be described below with reference to a UE as an example of a terminal device 120.

[0031] As used herein, the term "network equipment" or "base station" (BS) refers to equipment capable of providing or hosting a cell or coverage within which terminal equipment can communicate. Examples of network equipment include, but are not limited to, a Node B (NodeB or NB), an evolved Node B (eNodeB or eNB), a next generation Node B (gNB), a transmit / receive point (TRP), a remote radio unit (RRU), a radio head (RH), a remote radio head (RRH), a femto node, a pico node, or other low power node.

[0032] In one embodiment, the terminal device 120 may be connected to a first network device and a second network device (not shown in FIG. 1). One of the first network device and the second network device may be in a master node and the other in a secondary node. The first network device and the second network device may use different radio access technologies (RATs). In one embodiment, the first network device may be a first RAT device and the second network device may be a second RAT device. In one embodiment, the first RAT device may be an eNB and the second RAT device is a gNB. Information about the different RATs may be transmitted from at least one of the first network device and the second network device to the terminal device 120. In one embodiment, the first information may be transmitted from the first network device to the terminal device 120, and the second information may be transmitted from the second network device to the terminal device 120 directly or via the first network device. In one embodiment, information about the configuration of the terminal device configured by the second network device may be transmitted from the second network device via the first network device. The information regarding the reconfiguration of the terminal device set by the second network device can be transmitted from the second network device directly or via the first network device to the terminal device. The information can be transmitted via any of Radio Resource Control (RRC) signaling, Medium Access Control (MAC) control element (CE), or Downlink Control Information (DCI).

[0033] In the communication network 100, the network device 110 can communicate data and control information to the terminal device 120, and the terminal device 120 can also communicate data and control information to the network device 110. The link from the network device 110 to the terminal device 120 is called the downlink (DL), and the link from the terminal device 120 to the network device 110 is called the uplink (UL).

[0034] Communications in network 100 may conform to any suitable standard, including, but not limited to, Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM), Long Term Evolution (LTE), LTE-Evolution, LTE-Advanced (LTE-A), Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA), Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA), GSM EDGE Radio Access Network (GERAN), Machine Type Communications (MTC), and the like. Additionally, communications may be performed according to any currently known or future developed generation of communications protocols. Examples of communications protocols include, but are not limited to, first generation (1G), second generation (2G), 2.5G, 2.75G, third generation (3G), fourth generation (4G), 4.5G, and fifth generation (5G) communications protocols.

[0035] In addition to normal data communication, the network device 110 can transmit an RS to the terminal device 120 in the downlink. Similarly, the terminal device 120 can transmit an RS to the network device 110 in the uplink. In general, an RS is a signal sequence (also referred to as an "RS sequence") known to both the network device 110 and the terminal device 120. For example, the RS sequence can be generated and transmitted by the network device 110 based on a certain rule, and the terminal device 120 can estimate the RS sequence based on the same rule. In another example, the RS sequence can be generated and transmitted by the network device 120 based on a certain rule, and the network device 110 can estimate the RS sequence based on the same rule. Examples of RS can include, but are not limited to, a downlink or uplink demodulation reference signal (DMRS), a CSI-RS, a sounding reference signal (SRS), a phase tracking reference signal (PTRS), a tracking reference signal (TRS), a fractional time-frequency tracking reference signal (TRS), a tracking CSI-RS, a positioning reference signal (PRS), etc.

[0036] In addition to normal data communication, the network device 110 may transmit a DCI to the terminal device 120 via a PDCCH. The DCI may indicate resource allocation for data transmission in DL or UL. At the same time, a DMRS associated with the PDCCH may also be transmitted from the network device 110 to the terminal device 120. The DMRS may be used by the terminal device 120 for channel demodulation. The terminal device 120 may then attempt to blindly decode the DCI in a control information set (CORESET). As used herein, "CORESET" refers to a set of resource element groups in which the terminal device attempts to blindly decode the DCI. A search space indicating a start time and periodicity for monitoring the PDCCH in the CORESET may be indicated to the terminal device 120. In response to successful decoding of the DCI, the terminal device 120 may accordingly perform UL and / or DL data transmission with the network device 110 (e.g., data transmission via a PDSCH and / or a Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PUSCH)).

[0037] The network device 110 can communicate data and control information to the terminal device 120 via multiple beams (also referred to as "DL beams"). The terminal device 120 can also communicate data and control information to the network device 110 via multiple beams (also referred to as "UL beams"). In the 3GPP® specifications for New Radio (NR), the beams are also defined and indicated by a parameter of a transmission configuration indicator. For example, there may be a TCI field in the DCI. The value of the TCI field may be referred to as a "TCI code point." The TCI code point may indicate one or more TCI states. Each TCI state includes parameters for setting a quasi-co-location (QCL) relationship between one or two DL reference signals and a DMRS port of a PDSCH, a DMRS port of a PDCCH, or a CSI-RS port of a CSI-RS resource.

[0038] 2 is a signaling diagram for beam management according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. For illustrative purposes, a process 200 will be described with reference to FIG 1. The process 200 may involve the network device 110 and the terminal device 120 shown in FIG 1.

[0039] As shown in FIG. 2, the network device 110 sets (210) a first TCI state or a first TCI state pair (hereinafter also referred to as "TCI state A") to the terminal device 120 in order to monitor a PDCCH in the CORESET and / or receive a PDSCH scheduled by the monitored PDCCH.

[0040] In some embodiments, network device 110 may configure a set of TCI states / TCI state pairs (denoted as “T1”) to terminal device 120 via RRC signaling and / or MAC CE. For example, set of TCI states / TCI state pairs T1 may include P1 TCI states / TCI state pairs, where P1 is an integer and 0≦P1≦128. In some embodiments, for example, network device 110 may configure a first set of TCI states / TCI state pairs (denoted as “T0”) to terminal device 120 via RRC signaling and then activate a set of TCI states / TCI state pairs T1 selected from the first set of TCI states / TCI state pairs T0 via MAC CE. In some embodiments, the set T1 of TCI state / TCI state pairs may be the same as those TCI states (e.g., up to eight TCI states) mapped to TCI code points in one component carrier (CC) / DL bandwidth part (BWP) or in a set of CC / DL BWPs. In some embodiments, the set T1 of TCI state / TCI state pairs may be used by the terminal device 120 for PDSCH and / or PDCCH reception. For example, a first TCI state or a first TCI state pair selected from the set T1 of TCI state / TCI state pairs (i.e., TCI state A) may be indicated to the terminal device 120 via DCI to monitor a PDCCH in the CORESET and receive a PDSCH scheduled by the monitored PDCCH. That is, TCI state A indicates a common beam used for PDCCH and PDSCH.

[0041] As shown in FIG. 2, the network device 110 transmits (220) a PDCCH to the terminal device 120 for updating a first TCI state or a first TCI state pair (i.e., TCI state A) to a second TCI state or a second TCI state pair (hereinafter also referred to as "TCI state B").

[0042] In the following, the terms "TCI state", "TCI state pair", "TCI state pair", "QCL parameter set", "QCL parameters", "QCL assumptions", and "QCL configuration" can be used interchangeably. The terms "TCI state A", "first TCI state", "first TCI state pair", "first QCL parameter set", "first QCL parameters", "first QCL assumptions", and "first QCL configuration" can be used interchangeably. The terms "TCI state B", "second TCI state", "second TCI state pair", "second QCL parameter set", "second QCL parameters", "second QCL assumptions", and "second QCL configuration" can be used interchangeably.

[0043] In some embodiments, the network device 110 may transmit a PDCCH to update at least one of the TCI state / TCI state pairs in T1. In some embodiments, the PDCCH may indicate another set of TCI state / TCI state pairs T2 to replace the set of TCI state / TCI state pairs T1. For example, the set of TCI state / TCI state pairs T2 may include P2 TCI state / TCI state pairs, where P2 is an integer and 0≦P2≦128. In some embodiments, the PDCCH may update only a subset of the set of TCI state / TCI state pairs T1.

[0044] In some embodiments, the field in the PDCCH for updating at least one of the TCI state / TCI status pairs in T1 may be a new field different from the TCI field in the DCI. In some embodiments, the PDCCH for updating at least one of the TCI state / TCI status pairs in T1 may be a special PDCCH different from the PDCCH for PDSCH scheduling. For example, the special PDCCH may be associated with a new Radio Network Temporary Identity (RNTI) and / or a new format. In some embodiments, if the value of the new field is equal to a predefined value (e.g., 0), it means that no update is performed for the set of TCI state / TCI status pairs T1. In some embodiments, if the new field and the TCI field are included in the same PDCCH, the TCI field may be ignored or the TCI status indicated by the TCI field may be updated after a predefined / configured time threshold.

[0045] In some embodiments, as described above, a TCI state A selected from a set of TCI state / TCI state pairs T1 may be set to terminal device 120 to monitor a PDCCH in the CORESET and receive a PDSCH scheduled by the monitored PDCCH. In some embodiments, network device 110 may transmit a PDCCH to update TCI state A to TCI state B. TCI state B may be used by terminal device 120 to monitor a PDCCH in the CORESET and receive a PDSCH scheduled by the monitored PDCCH.

[0046] In some embodiments, the second TCI state or the second TCI state pair (i.e., TCI state B) may also be selected from the set T1 of TCI states / TCI state pairs. Alternatively, in another embodiment, the second TCI state or the second TCI state pair (i.e., TCI state B) may not be selected from the set T1 of TCI states / TCI state pairs. For example, the second TCI state or the second TCI state pair (i.e., TCI state B) may be selected from the set T2 of TCI states / TCI state pairs.

[0047] In some embodiments, the field in the PDCCH for updating the TCI status may reuse the TCI field in the DCI.

[0048] In some embodiments, a value of the TCI field equal to a predefined value (e.g., 0) may indicate that the TCI state is not updated. In this case, the current or latest TCI state (e.g., TCI state A) configured for the CORESET applies to the PDCCH in the CORESET and the PDSCH scheduled by the PDCCH. Other values of the TCI field may indicate new TCI states for the PDCCH and PDSCH.

[0049] In some embodiments, if the TCI state indicated in the TCI field is different from the current or most recent TCI state (e.g., TCI state A) used for transmitting and receiving the PDCCH and PDSCH, then TCI state A is updated to the TCI state indicated in the TCI field (i.e., TCI state B).

[0050] In some embodiments, if the TCI codepoint indicates two different TCI states, one of the two different TCI states may be applied to PDCCH transmission / reception. For example, a first TCI state of the two TCI states may be applied to PDCCH transmission / reception. For another example, one of the two different TCI states or both of the two different TCI states may be applied to PDSCH transmission / reception. For another example, a first TCI state of the two different TCI states may be applied to PDSCH transmission / reception.

[0051] In some embodiments, if the TCI code point indicates two different TCI states, the two different TCI states can be applied to the PDCCH transmission / reception. In this case, if repetition is possible for the PDCCH, for example, if there are a first and a second PDCCH transmission occasion for the same PDCCH, one of the two different TCI states can be applied to the first PDCCH transmission occasion, and another of the two different TCI states can be applied to the second PDCCH transmission occasion. For example, if repetition is enabled for the PDCCH, two different TCI states can be configured for the PDCCH or CORESET. There may be two PDCCH transmission / reception occasions for the same PDCCH. In this case, one of the two different TCI states can be applied to the first PDCCH transmission / reception occasion, and another of the two different TCI states can be applied to the second PDCCH transmission / reception occasion.

[0052] In some embodiments, a value of the TCI field equal to a predefined value (e.g., value 0) may indicate that a common TCI state is used for PDCCH and PDSCH transmission / reception. For example, the TCI state used for PDSCH transmission / reception may be the same as the TCI state configured for the CORESET. Additionally, other values of the TCI field different from the predefined value may respectively indicate the TCI state used for PDSCH transmission / reception. In this case, the TCI state configured for the CORESET may be used for PDCCH transmission / reception.

[0053] In some embodiments, PDCCHs in a CORESET / search space W can only update the TCI status of PDCCHs monitored in the same CORESET / search space W. For example, the identifier (ID) of the CORESET / search space W may be 0. In another example, the ID of the CORESET / search space may not need to be indicated in the updated TCI status (e.g., the field for TCI status update). In some embodiments, PDCCHs in a CORESET / search space W can update the TCI status of PDCCHs monitored in a CORESET / search space V. For example, the CORESET / search space V may be different or the same as the CORESET / search space W. For example, the ID of the CORESET / search space V may be included in the field for TCI status update. Alternatively, in another embodiment, PDCCHs in a CORESET / search space W can only update the TCI status of PDCCHs monitored in a different CORESET / search space V. For example, the ID of the CORESET / search space V may be included in the field for TCI status update.

[0054] In the following, the terms "time threshold", "threshold", and "timing" can be used interchangeably. The terms "transmit", "receive", "transmit", "receive", "scheduling", "schedule", "buffering", "buffer", "detect", "detecting", "monitoring", and "monitoring" can be used interchangeably. The terms "predetermined", "determined", "set", "indicated", "signaled", and "reported" can be used interchangeably. The terms "set", "indicate", "information", "signaling", and "parameter" can be used interchangeably.

[0055] As shown in FIG. 2, the network device 110 applies (230) a second TCI state (i.e., TCI state B) to transmit a second PDCCH in the CORESET to the terminal device 120 based on the first time threshold X. Thus, the terminal device 120 applies (230) a second TCI state (i.e., TCI state B) to monitor a second PDCCH in the CORESET based on the first time threshold X. The network device 110 applies (240) a second TCI state (i.e., TCI state B) to transmit a PDSCH to the terminal device 120 based on the second time threshold Y. Thus, the terminal device 120 applies (240) a second TCI state (i.e., TCI state B) to receive a PDSCH transmitted from the network device 110 based on the second time threshold Y.

[0056] In some embodiments, the first time threshold X may be the same as or different from the second time threshold Y. In some embodiments, the first time threshold X and / or the second time threshold Y may be the same as the threshold timeDurationForQCL specified in TS 38.214 or TS 38.306.

[0057] In some embodiments, the first time threshold X may indicate a predetermined / set period. The predetermined / set period may be Xims / us / slots / symbols / subslots, where Xi is an integer. For example, 1≦Xi≦336. For example, the predetermined period Xi may be, for example, 7, 14, or 28 symbols when the subcarrier spacing is 60KHz, or 14 or 28 symbols when the subcarrier spacing is 120KHz. In another example, the predetermined period Xi may be L slots, where L is an integer and L may be any of {0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8}.

[0058] In some embodiments, the second time threshold Y may indicate a predetermined / set period. The predetermined / set period may be Yims / us / slots / symbols / subslots, where Yi is an integer. For example, 1≦Yi≦336. For example, the predetermined period Yi may be, for example, 7, 14, or 28 symbols when the subcarrier spacing is 60KHz, or 14 or 28 symbols when the subcarrier spacing is 120KHz. In another example, the predetermined period Yi may be M slots, where M is an integer and M may be any of {0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8}.

[0059] In some embodiments, the first time threshold X may indicate a predefined / configured period of time after the last symbol of the PDCCH (denoted as "PDCCH P") at which the first TCI state is updated to the second TCI state, or after the first or last symbol of the PDSCH scheduled by the PDCCH P. For example, the predefined / configured period of time may be Xims / us / slots / symbols / subslots. For example, the predefined period of time may be, for example, 7, 14, or 28 symbols when the subcarrier spacing is 60 KHz, or 14 or 28 symbols when the subcarrier spacing is 120 KHz. For example, the predefined / configured period of time may depend on the UE capabilities reported by the terminal device 120. In this case, the second TCI state (i.e., TCI state B) may be applied to the PDCCH transmission / reception after the first time threshold X from the last symbol of the PDCCH P, or from the first or last symbol of the PDSCH scheduled by the PDCCH P.

[0060] FIG. 3A illustrates an example of such an embodiment. In the example of FIG. 3A, assume that TCI state A is set to the terminal device 120 to monitor the PDCCH in the CORESET / search space. As shown in FIG. 3A, a PDCCH 311 can be transmitted from the network device 110 to the terminal device 120 to update the TCI state A used for the PDCCH and / or PDSCH to TCI state B. In this case, for example, after a first time threshold X from the last symbol of the PDCCH 311, the TCI state B can be applied to the PDCCH transmission and reception. That is, the terminal device 120 can continue to use the TCI state A to monitor the PDCCH 312 in the CORESET / search space. After a first time threshold X from the last symbol of the PDCCH 311, the terminal device 120 can apply the TCI state B to monitor the PDCCH 313 in the CORESET.

[0061] In some embodiments, the first time threshold X may indicate a predetermined period from slot n in which the PDCCH P or a PDSCH scheduled by the PDCCH P is transmitted or received. For example, the predetermined period may be Xims / us / slot / symbol / subslot. In this case, the second TCI state (i.e., TCI state B) may be applied to the PDCCH transmission or reception after the first time threshold X from slot n in which the PDCCH P or a PDSCH scheduled by the PDCCH P is transmitted or received.

[0062] In some embodiments, a PUCCH carrying HARQ-ACK information corresponding to a PDCCH P or corresponding to a PDSCH scheduled by a PDCCH P may be transmitted from the terminal device 120 to the network device 110. The first time threshold X may indicate a predetermined period from the last symbol of the PUCCH. For example, the predetermined period may be Xims / us / slot / symbol / subslot. In this case, the second TCI state (i.e., TCI state B) may be applied to the PDCCH transmission / reception within the next slot after the first time threshold X from the last symbol of the PUCCH.

[0063] In some embodiments, a PUCCH carrying HARQ-ACK information corresponding to a PDCCH P or corresponding to a PDSCH scheduled by a PDCCH P may be transmitted from the terminal device 120 to the network device 110 in slot n. The first time threshold X may indicate a predetermined period from slot n. For example, the predetermined period may be Xims / us / slot / symbol / subslot, e.g., 4 slots. In this case, the second TCI state (i.e., TCI state B) may be applied to the PDCCH transmission / reception within the next slot after the first time threshold X from slot n in which the PUCCH carrying the HARQ-ACK information is transmitted / received. For example, in this case, the PDCCH P may schedule a PDSCH or may not schedule a PDSCH.

[0064] FIG. 3B illustrates an example of such an embodiment. In the example of FIG. 3B, assume that TCI state A is set to the terminal device 120 to monitor the PDCCH in the CORESET / search space. As shown in FIG. 3B, a PDCCH 321 can be transmitted from the network device 110 to the terminal device 120 to update the TCI state A used for the PDCCH and / or PDSCH to TCI state B. A PUCCH 323 carrying HARQ-ACK information corresponding to the PDCCH 321 can be transmitted from the terminal device 120 to the network device 110 in slot n. In this case, for example, TCI state B can be applied to PDCCH transmission and reception in the next slot after the first time threshold X from slot n. That is, the terminal device 120 can continue to use TCI state A to monitor the PDCCH 322 in the CORESET / search space. After the first time threshold X from slot n, terminal device 120 may apply TCI state B in the next slot to monitor PDCCH 324 in CORESET.

[0065] In some embodiments, if terminal device 120 transmits in slot n a PUCCH with HARQ-ACK information corresponding to a PDCCH that updates the TCI state, the updated TCI state can be applied to the corresponding PDCCH and / or PDSCH starting from the next slot after slot n+X or after slot n+Y. If terminal device 120 transmits in slot n a PUCCH with HARQ-ACK information corresponding to a PDSCH scheduled by a PDCCH that updates the TCI state, the updated TCI state can be applied to the corresponding PDCCH and / or PDSCH starting from the next slot after slot n+X or after slot n+Y. In some embodiments, the length of the slot is determined based on a subcarrier spacing configuration for the PUCCH.

[0066] In some embodiments, the PDCCH P may be used to update the TCI state for the CORESET / search space. In some embodiments, the PDSCH may be scheduled by the PDCCH P. For example, the terminal device 120 may receive a PDSCH transmitted from the network device 110. For another example, if the TCI state is updated, the PDSCH scheduling may be ignored.

[0067] In some embodiments, when the PDCCH P transmitted from the network device 110 to the terminal device 120 is used to update the TCI status for the PDCCH and / or the PDSCH, the terminal device 120 PFor example, if PDCCH P is received in slot m and a value of the PDSCH-to-HARQ_feedback timing indicator field in PDCCH P indicates k1, the HARQ-ACK information is transmitted from terminal device 120 in slot m+k1. In some embodiments, if PDCCH P is received in slot m and a value of the PDSCH-to-HARQ_feedback timing indicator field in PDCCH P indicates k1 and k0 is indicated for PDSCH scheduling, the first and second HARQ-ACK information are transmitted from terminal device 120 to network device 110. For example, the first HARQ-ACK information corresponding to PDCCH P can be transmitted in slot m+k1, and the second HARQ-ACK information corresponding to the PDSCH scheduled by PDCCH P can be transmitted in slot m+k0+k1. In some embodiments, in case of a type 1 HARQ-ACK codebook, the location in the type 1 HARQ-ACK codebook for the first HARQ-ACK information corresponding to PDCCH P may be indicated / configured by a Time domain resource assignment field in PDCCH P. This field can also be used to schedule the PDSCH or virtual PDSCH. In some embodiments, k0 represents the number of slots indicated / configured by the time domain resource assignment (e.g., pdsch-TimeDomainAllocationList) for the PDSCH (where k0 is an integer and 0≦k0≦32). In some embodiments, k1 represents the number of slots indicated by the value of the PDSCH-to-HARQ_feedback timing indicator field in the PDCCH (where k1 is an integer and 0≦k1≦32).

[0068] FIG. 4 illustrates an example of HARQ-ACK feedback according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. As shown in FIG. 4, for example, terminal device 120 may receive PDCCH 410 used to update TCI status for PDCCH and / or PDSCH in slot / subslot m. PDCCH 410 may schedule PDSCH 420, where the scheduling offset is k0 slots / subslots. In this case, terminal device 120 may receive PDSCH 420 scheduled by PDCCH 410 in slot / subslot m+k0. For example, k1 may be indicated by the value of the PDSCH-to-HARQ_feedback timing indicator field in PDCCH 410. In this case, the terminal device 120 transmits first HARQ-ACK information 430 corresponding to the PDCCH 410 in slot / subslot m+k1 and transmits second HARQ-ACK information 440 corresponding to the PDSCH 420 in slot / subslot m+k0+k1.

[0069] In some embodiments, the first time threshold X may be the same as or different from the second time threshold Y. Depending on the relationship between the first time threshold X and the second time threshold Y, different TCI states may be applied to the PDCCH and / or PDSCH.

[0070] Table 1 shows the TCI states that apply to the PDCCH and / or PDSCH when the first time threshold X is not later than the second time threshold Y (i.e., X≦Y). Figure 5 shows a diagram of the example embodiment shown in Table 1. In Figure 5, the first TCI state (i.e., TCI state A) is represented as TCI state 510 and the second TCI state (i.e., TCI state B) is represented as TCI state 520. TIFF0007647865000001.tif135169

[0071] Table 2 shows the TCI states that apply to the PDCCH and / or PDSCH when the first time threshold X is not earlier than the second time threshold Y (i.e., X≧Y). Figure 6 shows a diagram of the example embodiment shown in Table 2. In Figure 6, the first TCI state (i.e., TCI state A) is represented as TCI state 610 and the second TCI state (i.e., TCI state B) is represented as TCI state 620. TIFF0007647865000002.tif112168

[0072] In some embodiments, in response to the TCI state for the CORESET / search space being updated from a first TCI state (i.e., TCI state A) to a second TCI state (i.e., TCI state B), the set of reference signal (RS) resources used for beam failure detection may be updated accordingly.

[0077] Figure 7 is a flowchart of an example method 700 according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. Method 700 may be performed in the network device 110 shown in Figure 1 and / or Figure 2. It should be understood that method 700 may include additional blocks not shown and / or omit some blocks that are shown, and that the scope of the disclosure is not limited in this respect.

[0078] In block 710, the network device 110 transmits a first PDCCH indicating a TCI state (e.g., TCI state B) to the terminal device 120. The TCI state is set to the terminal device 120 to monitor the PDCCHs in the CORESET and receive the PDSCHs scheduled by the monitored PDCCHs.

[0079] In some embodiments, before transmitting a first PDCCH indicating the TCI state, the network device 110 may transmit a first configuration to the terminal device 120 indicating a set of TCI states and transmit a second configuration to the terminal device 120 indicating another TCI state selected from the set of TCI states (e.g., TCI state A), where the first PDCCH updates the other TCI state to the TCI state.

[0080] In some embodiments, the TCI state can be selected from a set of TCI states.

[0081] In some embodiments, the network device 110 may send a third configuration for updating the set of TCI states to the terminal device 120. The TCI state may be selected from the set of updated TCI states.

[0082] In some embodiments, the first PDCCH may carry a DCI that includes a TCI field that indicates the TCI status.

[0083] In some embodiments, the first PDCCH may carry a DCI that includes a new field indicating the TCI status, which may be different from the TCI field.

[0085] In block 730, the network device 110 applies the TCI state for transmitting the PDSCH to the terminal device 120 based on a second time threshold.

[0086] In some embodiments, the first time threshold may be the same as the second time threshold.

[0087] In some embodiments, the first time threshold may be different from the second time threshold.

[0088] In some embodiments, after a first time threshold from the last symbol of the first PDCCH or a symbol of a PDSCH scheduled by the first PDCCH, the network device 110 can apply the TCI state to transmit a second PDCCH to the terminal device 120.

[0089] In some embodiments, the network device 110 may apply the TCI state to transmit a second PDCCH to the terminal device 120 after a first time threshold from the slot in which the first PDCCH or a PDSCH scheduled by the first PDCCH is transmitted.

[0090] In some embodiments, network device 110 may receive a PUCCH including HARQ-ACK information corresponding to a first PDCCH or corresponding to a PDSCH scheduled by a first PDCCH from terminal device 120. Network device 110 may apply the TCI state to transmit the second PDCCH to terminal device 120 within the next slot after a first time threshold from the last symbol of the PUCCH.

[0091] In some embodiments, network device 110 may receive a PUCCH including HARQ-ACK information corresponding to a first PDCCH or corresponding to a PDSCH scheduled by the first PDCCH in a slot from terminal device 120. Network device 110 may apply the TCI state to transmit a second PDCCH to terminal device 120 in a next slot after a first time threshold from the slot.

[0092] In some embodiments, the network device 110 can update the set of reference signal resources used for beam failure detection based on the TCI condition.

[0093] Figure 8 is a flowchart of an example method 800 according to some embodiments of the present disclosure. Method 800 may be performed in terminal device 120 shown in Figure 1 and / or Figure 2. It should be understood that method 800 may include additional blocks not shown and / or omit some blocks that are shown, and that the scope of the disclosure is not limited in this respect.

[0094] In block 810, the terminal device 120 receives a first PDCCH indicating a TCI state (e.g., TCI state B) from the network device 110. The TCI state is set to the terminal device 120 to monitor a PDCCH in the CORESET and receive a PDSCH scheduled by the monitored PDCCH.

[0095] In some embodiments, before receiving a first PDCCH indicating the TCI state, the terminal device 120 may receive a first configuration from the network device 110 indicating a set of TCI states and a second configuration from the network device 110 indicating another TCI state selected from the set of TCI states (e.g., TCI state A), where the first PDCCH updates the other TCI state to the TCI state.

[0096] In some embodiments, the TCI state can be selected from a set of TCI states.

[0097] In some embodiments, the terminal device 120 may receive a third configuration for updating the set of TCI states from the network device 110. A TCI state may be selected from the updated set of TCI states.

[0098] In some embodiments, the first PDCCH may carry a DCI that includes a TCI field that indicates the TCI status.

[0099] In some embodiments, the first PDCCH may carry a DCI that includes a new field indicating the TCI status, where the new field is different from the TCI field.

[0100] In block 820, terminal device 120 applies the TCI state based on the first time threshold to monitor a second PDCCH transmitted from a network device in the CORESET.

[0101] In block 830, terminal device 120 applies the TCI state based on a second time threshold to receive a PDSCH transmitted from terminal device 110.

[0102] In some embodiments, after a first time threshold from the last symbol of the first PDCCH or a symbol of a PDSCH scheduled by the first PDCCH, the terminal device 120 can apply the TCI state to monitor the second PDCCH.

[0103] In some embodiments, after a first time threshold from the slot in which the first PDCCH or a PDSCH scheduled by the first PDCCH is received, the terminal device 120 can apply the TCI state to monitor the second PDCCH.

[0104] In some embodiments, terminal device 120 may transmit a PUCCH including HARQ-ACK information corresponding to the first PDCCH or corresponding to a PDSCH scheduled by the first PDCCH to network device 110. Terminal device 120 may apply the TCI state to monitor the second PDCCH within the next slot after the first time threshold from the last symbol of the PUCCH.

[0105] In some embodiments, terminal device 120 may transmit a PUCCH including HARQ-ACK information corresponding to a first PDCCH or corresponding to a PDSCH scheduled by the first PDCCH to a network device in a slot, and terminal device 120 may apply the TCI state to monitor a second PDCCH in a next slot after a first time threshold from the slot.

[0106] In some embodiments, the terminal device 120 can update the set of reference signal resources used for beam failure detection based on the TCI status.

[0107] In view of the above, it can be seen that the embodiments of the present disclosure provide a solution for beam management. Thus, a common beam used for PDCCH and PDSCH indicated by a common TCI state can be updated, and the updated beam can be applied to transmission and reception of PDCCH and PDSCH.
