Description

[Technical field]

[0001] This application claims the benefit of priority based on Korean Patent Application No. 10-2022-0039953 filed on March 30, 2022, and all contents disclosed in the documents of that Korean patent application are incorporated herein by reference.

[0002] The present invention relates to a secondary battery module, and more particularly to a secondary battery module including a plurality of cells. [Background technology]

[0003] In recent years, with the rising prices of energy sources due to the depletion of fossil fuels and the growing concern about environmental pollution, the demand for environmentally friendly alternative energy sources has become an essential factor for future life. Therefore, research on various power generation technologies such as solar, wind, and tidal power has been ongoing, and there has also been great interest in power storage devices such as batteries to more efficiently utilize the electrical energy produced in this way.

[0004] In addition, with the increasing technological development and demand for battery-based electronic mobile devices and electric vehicles, the demand for batteries as an energy source is rapidly increasing, which has led to a lot of research being conducted on batteries that can meet various demands.

[0005] Batteries that store electrical energy are generally divided into primary batteries and secondary batteries. Primary batteries are disposable, consumable batteries, while secondary batteries are rechargeable batteries made from materials that can repeatedly undergo oxidation and reduction processes between electric current and substances. In other words, when a reduction reaction of a material occurs due to electric current, the power source is charged, and when an oxidation reaction of the material occurs, the power source is discharged. Electricity is generated by repeating this charge-discharge cycle.

[0006] On the other hand, in recent years, as the need for large-capacity structures increases, including use as an energy storage source, the demand for secondary battery packs comprising a plurality of cells or secondary battery modules is increasing, and as a result, the demand for secondary battery modules is also increasing.

[0007] In the conventional secondary battery module, the structure is fixed by a frame for manufacturing the secondary battery pack. In addition, the direction and position of the terminals are fixed by the arrangement, which causes a problem that the degree of freedom of the internal design of the secondary battery pack is limited.

[0008] In order to solve such problems, there is a demand for a secondary battery module that allows relatively free internal design of the secondary battery pack and can be applied in various forms. Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]

[0009] The present invention has been made to solve the above problems, and an object of the present invention is to provide a secondary battery module that can be arranged in various forms inside a secondary battery pack, can easily set up serial or parallel configurations between internal cells, and can improve efficiency when designing a secondary battery pack. [Means for solving the problem]

[0010] A secondary battery module according to the present invention may include a plurality of cells arranged to face each other, and a rotating member arranged between a face of one cell and a face of the other cell facing each other in the plurality of cells, for rotating one cell relative to the other cell.

[0011] The secondary battery module may further include an adhesive material that adheres the rotating member and the cell.

[0012] The rotating member may include a first rotating plate arranged in the center of a face of one of the cells, a second rotating plate arranged in the center of a face of the other cell, and a rotating axis that rotatably connects the first rotating plate and the second rotating plate to each other and extends in a direction perpendicular to the faces of the multiple cells.

[0013] The rotating shaft may have an elastic force so as to attract the first rotating plate and the second rotating plate spaced apart from each other.

[0014] The first rotating plate and the second rotating plate may include a magnetic material so that they exert an attractive force on each other.

[0015] The first rotating plate may include a protrusion protruding toward the second rotating plate, and the second rotating plate may have an indentation formed in a shape corresponding to the protrusion, and may rotate on a rotating shaft, with the protrusion being inserted into the indentation to fix the first rotating plate to the second rotating plate.

[0016] Two protrusions and two indentations may be formed, and when the first rotating plate and the second rotating plate are fixed to each other, they may be fixed to each other again when the first rotating plate or the second rotating plate rotates 180 degrees.

[0017] The protrusions and indentations may each be formed in four numbers, and when the first rotating plate and the second rotating plate are fixed to each other, they may be fixed to each other again when the first rotating plate or the second rotating plate is rotated 90 degrees.

[0018] The secondary battery module may further include a first terminal arranged on an edge of one side or the other side of the cell, and a second terminal arranged on an edge of the cell on the opposite side to the first terminal, wherein the first terminal includes a first upper terminal arranged to protrude from one side of the cell toward the other cell, a first lower terminal arranged on the same plane on the one side of the cell, and a first symmetrical terminal arranged on the other side of the one cell at a position corresponding to the first upper terminal on the same plane, and the second terminal includes a second upper terminal arranged to protrude from the other side of the one cell toward the opposing other cell, a second lower terminal arranged on the same plane on the other side of the one cell, and a second symmetrical terminal arranged on the one side of the one cell at a position corresponding to the second upper terminal on the same plane, and the first terminal and the second terminal may have opposite polarities and be coupled to each other at corresponding positions to fix the cells.

[0019] The first and second terminals may be configured such that when one cell is aligned with the other cell, the first upper terminal of one cell comes into contact with the first symmetrical terminal of the other cell and the second symmetrical terminal of one cell comes into contact with the second upper terminal of the other cell, allowing a parallel connection; and when one cell is rotated 180 degrees relative to the other cell, the first upper terminal of one cell comes into contact with the second lower terminal of the other cell and the first lower terminal of one cell comes into contact with the second upper terminal of the other cell, allowing a series connection.

[0020] The secondary battery module may be provided with first and second terminals having opposite polarities at both ends of a plurality of cells, and may further include at least one of a parallel connection member electrically connecting the first terminals to each other or a parallel connection member electrically connecting the second terminals to each other, and a series connection member electrically connecting the first terminals to each other and the second terminals. [0026] Furthermore, the terms and words used in this specification and the claims should not be interpreted in a limited manner to their ordinary or dictionary meanings, but should be interpreted in a manner that is consistent with the technical idea of the present invention, based on the principle that an inventor can appropriately define the concept of a term in order to explain his or her invention in the best possible manner.

[0027] FIG. 1 is a perspective view illustrating a secondary battery module 100 according to a first embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 2 is a perspective view illustrating a state in which a cell 110 of the secondary battery module 100 according to the first embodiment of the present invention rotates.

[0028] The present invention provides a secondary battery module 100 as a first embodiment.

[0029] The secondary battery module 100 according to the first embodiment of the present invention may include a cell 110 and a rotating member 120 .

[0030] 1, a plurality of cells 110 of the secondary battery module 100 may be arranged to face each other. Here, the cells 110 may refer to pouch cells.

[0031] The cells 110 may be arranged in parallel to each other, and the secondary battery module 100 according to the first embodiment may include twelve cells 110.

[0032] The rotating member 120 of the secondary battery module 100 may be disposed between a surface of one cell 110a (see FIG. 6) and a surface of the other cell 110b that face each other in the multiple cells 110, and may rotate the one cell 110a relative to the other cell 110b. The one cell 110a does not mean a specific cell, but may mean any cell among the multiple cells 110. The other cell 110b may mean a cell adjacent to the one cell 110a.

[0033] Fig. 2 shows a state in which one of the outermost cells 110 is rotated about 90 degrees. Referring to Fig. 2, each cell 110 can rotate with respect to the other cell 110 by a rotating member 120. Here, the cell 110 can rotate 360 degrees.

[0034] The rotating member 120 enables the secondary battery module 100 to efficiently change the arrangement of the cells 110 .

[0035] The secondary battery module 100 according to the first embodiment of the present invention may further include an adhesive material (not shown). The rotating member 120, more specifically, rotating plates 121 and 122 (see FIG. 3) described below, may be attached to the cells 110 by the adhesive material.

[0036] Specifically, the adhesive substance may be applied to a portion of the surface of the cell 110 on which the rotating member 120 is disposed.

[0037] The cells 110 and the rotating members 120 of the secondary battery module 100 are attached to each other and efficiently fixed by the adhesive material.

[0038] FIG. 3 is a perspective view illustrating a schematic configuration of a rotation member 120 of the secondary battery module 100 according to the first embodiment of the present invention.

[0039] Specifically, (A) in Figure 3 shows a schematic diagram of the first rotating plate 121 and the second rotating plate 122 coming into contact with each other, (B) shows a schematic diagram of the first rotating plate 121 rotating while spaced apart from the second rotating plate 122, and (C) shows a schematic diagram of the rotated first rotating plate 121 and second rotating plate 122 attracting each other.

[0040] The rotating member 120 of the secondary battery module 100 according to the first embodiment of the present invention may include a first rotating plate 121 , a second rotating plate 122 and a rotating shaft 123 .

[0041] The first rotating plate 121 may be disposed at the center of the face of one cell 110a, and the second rotating plate 122 may be disposed at the center of the face of the other cell 110b.

[0042] 3, the first rotating plate 121 and the second rotating plate 122 may be formed in a substantially circular plate shape, and the first rotating plate 121 and the second rotating plate 122 may have substantially the same cross-sectional area. However, the shape and area of each of the rotating plates 121, 122 are not limited thereto.

[0043] The rotating shaft 123 may connect the first rotating plate 121 and the second rotating plate 122 so that they can rotate with each other, and may be formed to extend in a direction perpendicular to the surfaces of the multiple cells 110.

[0044] Specifically, the rotating shaft 123 may be formed in a substantially shaft shape, and may have a cross-sectional area smaller than the cross-sectional areas of the first rotating plate 121 and the second rotating plate 122.

[0045] Furthermore, the rotating shaft 123 according to the first embodiment may be disposed at the center of the surface of the first rotating plate 121 or the second rotating plate 122.

[0046] The first rotating plate 121 or the second rotating plate 122 may rotate about a rotation axis 123, and the rotation of the first rotating plate 121 or the second rotating plate 122 may cause the cell 110 to rotate together.

[0047] The structure included in the rotating member 120 allows each cell 110 to rotate efficiently.

[0048] The rotating shaft 123 of the rotating member 120 according to the first embodiment of the present invention may have elasticity. Specifically, the rotating shaft 123 may be made of a material having elasticity.

[0049] The rotating shaft 123 may be configured to attract the first rotating plate 121 and the second rotating plate 122, which are spaced apart from each other, by an elastic force. The first rotating plate 121 or the second rotating plate 122 may be configured to rotate in a state where they are spaced apart from each other. The rotating shaft 123 applies an elastic force to the first rotating plate 121 and the second rotating plate 122, which are spaced apart from each other, in a direction in which they attract each other. In other words, the elastic force of the rotating shaft 123 provides an attracting force so that the first rotating plate 121 and the second rotating plate 122, which have been rotated by a desired angle, come into contact with each other.

[0050] If the rotating shaft 123 has elasticity, after rotation, the first rotating plate 121 or the second rotating plate 122 moves so as to come into contact with each other efficiently again.

[0051] The first rotating plate 121 of the rotating member 120 according to the first embodiment of the present invention may include a protrusion 121-1, and the second rotating plate 122 may be formed with an indentation 122-1.

[0052] The protrusion portion 121-1 may be formed to protrude from one surface of the first rotating plate 121 toward the second rotating plate 122, and the recessed portion 122-1 may be formed on one surface of the second rotating plate 122 in a recessed shape corresponding to the protrusion portion 121-1.

[0053] By inserting the protrusion 121-1 into the recess 122-1, the first rotating plate 121 and the second rotating plate 122 are efficiently fixed to each other.

[0054] The protrusion 121-1 according to the first embodiment may have a substantially rectangular parallelepiped shape so that it can be easily fixed in a state where it is inserted into the indentation 122-1.

[0055] A plurality of protrusions 121-1 and a plurality of indentations 122-1 may be provided. The plurality of protrusions 121-1 may be spaced apart by a predetermined angle in the circumferential direction of the first rotating plate 121, and the plurality of indentations 122-1 may be spaced apart by a predetermined angle in the circumferential direction of the second rotating plate 122.

[0056] The angle at which the plurality of protrusions 121-1 are spaced apart from one another may be the same as the angle at which the plurality of recesses 122-1 are spaced apart from one another. Therefore, the first rotating plate 121 and the second rotating plate 122 are fixed to each other again every time the first rotating plate 121 and the second rotating plate 122 rotate relative to each other by the angle.

[0057] For example, according to the first embodiment of the present invention, two protrusions 121-1 and two indentations 122-1 may be formed.

[0058] 3, the protrusion 121-1 may be formed on the edge of the first rotating plate 121, and the two protrusions 121-1 may be arranged on a line that is the diameter of one surface of the first rotating plate 121 having a substantially circular shape. In other words, the two protrusions 121-1 may be arranged to be spaced apart at an angle of 180 degrees.

[0059] Similarly, the indentations 122-1 may be formed on both ends of the second rotating plate 122, and the two indentations 122-1 may be located on a line that is the diameter of one surface of the second rotating plate 122 having a substantially circular shape. In other words, the two indentations 122-1 may be spaced apart at an angle of 180 degrees.

[0060] The protrusions 121-1 and the indentations 122-1 are formed in pairs at corresponding positions, so that when the first rotating plate 121 or the second rotating plate 122 rotates 180 degrees while the first rotating plate 121 and the second rotating plate 122 are fixed to each other, they are fixed to each other again.

[0061] Therefore, the first rotating plate 121 or the second rotating plate 122 is efficiently fixed to each other even when rotated 180 degrees.

[0062] FIG. 4 is a perspective view illustrating a cell 110, a first terminal 130, and a second terminal 140 of a secondary battery module 100 according to embodiment 1 of the present invention, and FIG. 5 is a view illustrating a state in which the first terminal 130 and the second terminal 140 are arranged on the cell 110 of the secondary battery module 100 according to embodiment 1 of the present invention.

[0063] Specifically, (A) in Figure 5 shows a schematic view of cell 110 in Figure 4 as viewed from above, (B) shows a schematic view of cell 110 in Figure 4 as viewed from the left side with respect to Figure 4, and (C) shows a schematic view of cell 110 in Figure 4 as viewed from the right side with respect to Figure 4.

[0064] The secondary battery module 100 according to the first embodiment of the present invention may further include a first terminal 130 and a second terminal 140.

[0065] Referring to FIG. 4, the first terminal 130 and the second terminal 140 may be disposed on both sides of one or the other surface of the cell 110.

[0066] Here, the first terminal 130 and the second terminal 140 may have opposite polarities.

[0067] The first terminal 130 may include a first upper terminal 131, a first lower terminal 132 and a first symmetrical terminal 133, and the second terminal 140 may include a second upper terminal 141, a second lower terminal 142 and a second symmetrical terminal 143.

[0068] 5, the first upper terminal 131 may be disposed to protrude from one surface of the cell 110 toward the other cell 110 disposed opposite thereto, and the first lower terminal 132 may be disposed on the same plane on the one surface of the cell 110. Here, the first lower terminal 132 may be disposed below the first upper terminal 131.

[0069] The first symmetrical terminal 133 may be disposed on the same plane on the other surface, which is opposite to the one surface of the cell 110. Here, the first symmetrical terminal 133 may be disposed at a position on the other surface corresponding to the first upper terminal 131 on the one surface.

[0070] 5, the second upper terminal 141 may be disposed to protrude from the other surface of the cell 110 toward the other cell 110 disposed opposite thereto, and the second lower terminal 142 may be disposed on the same plane on the other surface of the cell 110. Here, the second lower terminal 142 may be disposed below the second upper terminal 141.

[0071] The second symmetric terminal 143 may be disposed on the same plane on one surface opposite to the other surface of the cell 110. Here, the second symmetric terminal 143 may be disposed at a position on the one surface corresponding to the second upper terminal 141 on the other surface.

[0072] FIG. 6 is a diagram illustrating a state in which the cells 110 are connected to each other by the first terminal 130 and the second terminal 140 of the secondary battery module 100 according to the first embodiment of the present invention.

[0073] Specifically, (A) of FIG. 6 shows a schematic state in which one cell 110a and the other cell 110b are connected in parallel to each other, and (B) of FIG. 6 shows a schematic state in which one cell 110a and the other cell 110b are connected in series to each other.

[0074] The first terminal 130 and the second terminal 140 of the secondary battery module 100 according to the first embodiment of the present invention have opposite polarities and can be electrically connected by contact.

[0075] 6A, the first upper terminal 131 of one cell 110a may be in contact with the first symmetric terminal 133 of the other cell 110b, and the second symmetric terminal 143 of one cell 110a may be in contact with the second upper terminal 141 of the other cell 110b, for parallel connection. In this case, the one cell 110a and the other cell 110b are aligned with each other.

[0076] Specifically, the first upper terminal 131 of one cell 110a may protrude and contact the first symmetric terminal 133 of the other cell 110b at a corresponding position, and the second upper terminal 141 of the other cell 110b may protrude and contact the second symmetric terminal 143 of the one cell 110a at a corresponding position.

[0077] Moreover, one cell 110a can be connected in series with the other cell 110b in a state rotated 180 degrees.

[0078] Referring to (B) of Figure 6, when one cell 110a is rotated 180 degrees relative to the other cell 110b, the first upper terminal 131 of the one cell 110a and the second lower terminal 142 of the other cell 110b come into contact with each other, and the first lower terminal 132 of the one cell 110a and the second upper terminal 141 of the other cell 110b come into contact with each other to be connected in series.

[0079] Specifically, the first upper terminal 131 of one cell 110a rotated 180 degrees may protrude and contact the second lower terminal 142 of the other cell 110b in a corresponding position, and the second upper terminal 141 of the other cell 110b may protrude and contact the first lower terminal 132 of the rotated one cell 110a in a corresponding position.

[0080] The secondary battery module 100, by virtue of the configuration included in the first terminal 130 and the configuration included in the second terminal 140, is capable of efficiently setting the cells 110 in a series or parallel connection, thereby improving efficiency in the design of the secondary battery pack.

[0081] FIG. 7 is a perspective view illustrating a secondary battery module 200 according to an embodiment 2 of the present invention, and FIG. 8 is a perspective view illustrating a rotation member 220 of the secondary battery module 200 according to an embodiment 2 of the present invention.

[0082] Specifically, (A) in Figure 8 shows a schematic diagram of the first rotating plate 221 and the second rotating plate 222 coming into contact with each other, (B) shows a schematic diagram of the first rotating plate 221 rotating while spaced apart from the second rotating plate 222, and (C) shows a schematic diagram of the rotated first rotating plate 221 and second rotating plate 222 attracting each other.

[0083] The present invention provides a secondary battery module 200 of another form as a second embodiment.

[0084] Hereinafter, detailed description of configurations similar to those of the secondary battery module 100 according to the first embodiment of the present invention will be omitted.

[0085] Referring to FIG. 7, a secondary battery module 200 according to the second embodiment of the present invention may include a cell 110, a rotating member 220, a first terminal 230 and a second terminal 240.

[0086] The rotating member 220 may include a first rotating plate 221 and a second rotating plate 222. The first rotating plate 221 may include a protrusion 221-1, and the second rotating plate 222 may be formed with an indentation 222-1.

[0087] 8, the first rotating plate 221 and the second rotating plate 222 may be formed in a substantially circular plate shape, and the first rotating plate 221 and the second rotating plate 222 may have substantially the same cross-sectional area. However, the shape and area of each of the rotating plates 221, 222 are not limited thereto.

[0088] According to the second embodiment of the present invention, four each of the protrusions 221-1 and the indentations 222-1 may be formed. The multiple protrusions 221-1 may be spaced apart from each other by 90 degrees in the circumferential direction of the first rotating plate 221, and the multiple indentations 222-1 may be spaced apart from each other by 90 degrees in the circumferential direction of the second rotating plate 222.

[0089] Referring to FIG. 8, the protrusions 221-1 are formed on four edges of the first rotating plate 221, and the four protrusions 221-1 may be located on a line that is the diameter of one surface of the first rotating plate 221, which has an approximately circular shape, and on a line that is the other diameter perpendicular to that diameter.

[0090] Similarly, the indentations 222-1 may be formed on four edges of the second rotating plate 222, and the four indentations 222-1 may be located on a line that is a diameter of one face of the second rotating plate 222 having an approximately circular shape and on a line that is another diameter perpendicular to that diameter.

[0091] The protrusions 221-1 and the indentations 222-1 are formed at corresponding positions, four of each, so that the first rotating plate 221 and the second rotating plate 222 are fixed to each other and are fixed to each other again every time the first rotating plate 221 or the second rotating plate 222 rotates 90 degrees.

[0092] Therefore, the first rotating plate 221 or the second rotating plate 222 are efficiently fixed to each other even when rotated by 90 degrees, 180 degrees, and 270 degrees.

[0093] The first rotating plate 221 and the second rotating plate 222 according to the second embodiment of the present invention may include a magnetic material.

[0094] A force acts on the first rotating plate 221 and the second rotating plate 222, which are separated from each other, attracting the first rotating plate 221 and the second rotating plate 222 due to magnetism.

[0095] The first rotating plate 221 or the second rotating plate 222 can be separated from each other by the length-adjustable rotating shaft 123 and can rotate in a separated state. Here, a magnetic force acts on the first rotating plate 221 and the second rotating plate 222 in a separated state in a direction that attracts each other due to magnetism. That is, the magnetic force provides an attractive force so that the first rotating plate 221 and the second rotating plate 222 rotated by a desired angle come into contact with each other.

[0096] When the first rotating plate 221 and the second rotating plate 222 contain a magnetic material, the first rotating plate 221 or the second rotating plate 222 moves so as to come into contact with each other again efficiently after rotation.

[0097] FIG. 9 is a perspective view illustrating a cell 110, a first terminal 230, and a second terminal 240 of a secondary battery module 200 according to embodiment 2 of the present invention, and FIG. 10 is a perspective view illustrating a state in which a parallel connection member 250 and a series connection member 260 according to embodiment 2 of the present invention are arranged.

[0098] Specifically, FIG. 10A shows a schematic diagram of two cells 110 connected in parallel to each other, and FIG. 10B shows a schematic diagram of two cells 110 connected in series to each other.

[0099] 9, the first terminal 230 and the second terminal 240 of the secondary battery module 200 may have opposite polarities and may be provided at both ends of the plurality of cells 110. Here, the sizes of the first terminal 230 and the second terminal 240 may vary depending on the shape of the secondary battery module 200.

[0100] The secondary battery module 200 according to the second embodiment of the present invention includes the rotating members 220 disposed between the cells 110, so that the cells 110 are disposed in a spaced-apart relationship. In addition, the first terminals 230 and the second terminals 240 provided in each cell 110 are also disposed in a spaced-apart relationship and do not contact each other. Therefore, the secondary battery module 200 requires an additional structure for connecting the first terminals 230 and the second terminals 240 to each other.

[0101] As an example of a configuration for electrically connecting the first terminal 230 and the second terminal 240 to each other, the secondary battery module 200 according to the second embodiment of the present invention may further include at least one of a parallel connection member 250 and a series connection member 260.

[0102] The parallel connection member 250 may be configured to electrically connect the first terminals 230 to each other or to electrically connect the second terminals 240 to each other, and the series connection member 260 may be configured to electrically connect the first terminals 230 and the second terminals 240 to each other.

[0103] 10, the parallel connection member 250 and the series connection member 260 may be arranged on opposite sides of the cell 110 with respect to the first terminal 230 or the second terminal arranged on both ends of the cell 110.

[0104] The parallel connection member 250 has different shapes depending on the number of terminals having the same polarity that are connected to each other.

[0105] Since the secondary battery module 200 according to the second embodiment of the present invention includes the parallel connection members 250 and the series connection members 260, the cells 110 can be efficiently connected in series or parallel.

[0106] The secondary battery module 100 according to embodiment 1 and the secondary battery module 200 according to embodiment 2 of the present invention facilitates serial or parallel setting for electrical connection between the internal cells 110, improving efficiency in designing the secondary battery pack.

[0107] In this regard, a brief example for the electrical setup between cells 110 is as follows:

[0108] The secondary battery module 100, 200 including 12 cells 110 can be easily changed to a configuration in which the 12 cells 110 are connected in series to each other, or a configuration in which six pairs of two cells 110 connected in parallel are connected in series to each other. Also, a configuration in which four pairs of three cells 110 connected in parallel are connected in series to each other, or a configuration in which three pairs of four cells 110 connected in parallel are connected in series to each other can be easily realized.

[0109] Therefore, the secondary battery modules 100 and 200 of the present invention can be easily designed in various forms for placement inside a secondary battery pack.

[0110] Although the present invention has been described above using limited embodiments and drawings, the present invention is not limited thereto, and various implementations within the technical spirit of the present invention and the equivalent scope of the appended claims can be made by a person having ordinary knowledge in the technical field to which the present invention pertains.
