Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention

[0011] In exemplary embodiments, one or more different matters are recognized and considered. For example, in a commercial aircraft, the use of internal monuments to store emergency equipment, passenger amenities, and other items that may be brought on board is recognized and considered in exemplary embodiments. In many cases, in these monuments, the use of the seat tracks in the aircraft to achieve a structural attachment is recognized and considered in exemplary embodiments. Typically, the monument is placed on the seat track, and at this time, the floor fitting of the monument is oriented perpendicular to the seat track.

[0012] In other cases, since a fixed wall is placed directly on the seat track, it is recognized and considered in exemplary embodiments that the structural fitting can be oriented parallel to the seat track. Typically, this type of monument can be accessed from the FWD direction or the AFT direction, but not from the passage surface of the monument. In some cases, it is recognized and considered in exemplary embodiments that it is desirable to be able to access the monument from the aisle of the aircraft. In some cases, it is recognized and considered in exemplary embodiments that it is desirable to provide a narrow monument. In some cases, it is recognized and considered in exemplary embodiments that it is desirable to provide a narrow monument while using common standard parts.

[0013] The monument in the exemplary embodiment can be made narrower compared to a monument having a conventional mounting system. The monument in the exemplary embodiment can have a door facing the aisle.

[0014] Next, referring to the accompanying drawings, specifically FIG. 1, an aircraft according to an exemplary embodiment is shown. In this example, the aircraft 100 has wings 102 and 104 attached to the fuselage 106. The aircraft 100 includes an engine 108 attached to the wing 102 and an engine 110 attached to the wing 104.

[0015] The fuselage 106 has a tail section 112. Attached to the tail section 112 of the fuselage 106 are a horizontal stabilizer 114, a horizontal stabilizer 116, and a vertical stabilizer 118.

[0016] The aircraft 100 is an example of a platform capable of implementing a monument using an attachment system having a corner bracket fitting according to an exemplary embodiment. The aircraft 100 is an example of an aircraft that can use an attachment system having a corner bracket fitting to secure a monument to a seat track. The attachment system can secure a narrow monument to the seat track in the fuselage 106 of the aircraft 100. The attachment system can secure a monument having a door facing the aisle to the seat track in the fuselage 106 of the aircraft 100.

[0017] Next, referring to FIG. 2, a monument inside an aircraft according to an exemplary embodiment is shown. View 200 shows the interior of the fuselage 106 of the aircraft 100 shown in FIG. 1. In view 200, a monument 202 is attached to a seat track 204 in the passenger cabin 206. A passenger seat 208 is also attached to the seat track 204. The door 210 of the monument 202 faces the aisle 212 of the passenger cabin 206. In some examples, the width of the monument 202 is narrow compared to a conventional monument.

[0018] Next, referring to FIG. 3, a front perspective view showing a monument using a seat track according to an exemplary embodiment is shown. Monument 300 can be used within the fuselage 106 of the aircraft 100 shown in FIG. 1. In some examples, monument 300 is the same as monument 202 shown in FIG. 2.

[0019] Monument 300 is attached to seat track 302. The door 304 of the monument is parallel to the seat track 302. A kick strip 306 is disposed between the door 304 and the seat track 302 to cover the components of the attachment system 308 for attaching the monument 300 to the seat track 302. The kick strip 306 improves the aesthetics of the monument 300 by hiding the components of the attachment system.

[0020] Monument 300 has a face panel 310 and a face panel 312. The face panel 310 is connected to the face panel 312 and a floor panel (not shown) by components of the attachment system 308.

[0021] Next, referring to FIG. 4, a rear cross-sectional view showing a monument using a seat track according to an exemplary embodiment is shown. In some examples, view 400 is a rear cross-sectional view of monument 300 shown in FIG. 3. View 400 may also be referred to as an internal view of monument 402.

[0022] Monument 402 is fixed to seat track 404 by an attachment system 406. In some examples, in view 400, the components of monument 402 are removed to make the attachment system 406 more visible. As an example, a kick strip can be disposed to hide the components of the attachment system 406 within the monument 402.

[0023] To prevent undesirable load sharing with the floor structure, the fittings of the mounting system 406 on one side of the monument 402 do not load in the y-direction. The mounting system 406 includes a right corner bracket fitting 408, a left corner bracket fitting 410, and a filler panel 412. To prevent undesirable load sharing with the floor structure, one of the right corner bracket fitting 408 or the left corner bracket fitting 410 does not load in the y-direction. The right corner bracket fitting 408 is configured to couple to a right face panel 414 to connect the right face panel to a floor panel 416. The left corner bracket fitting 410 is configured to couple to a left face panel 418 to connect the left face panel to the floor panel 416. The filler panel 412 is configured to connect to and extend between the right corner bracket fitting 408 and the left corner bracket fitting 410. A filler panel 412 is secured between the right corner bracket fitting 408 and the left corner bracket fitting 410 to close off the monument 402 .

[0024] The filler panel 412 allows the width 420 of the monument 402 to be adjusted. The width 420 of the monument 402 can be adjusted by replacing the filler panel 412 with a filler panel having a width different from the width 422 of the filler panel 412. Adjusting the width 420 of the monument 402 allows for doors of different widths and floor panels of different widths to be used.

Right corner bracket fitting 508 is configured to couple to a right face panel (not shown) and connect the right face panel to floor panel 512. In view 500, the right face panel is not shown to better visualize the interior of monument 502. Left corner bracket fitting 510 is configured to couple to left face panel 514 and connect the left face panel to floor panel 512. In view 500, kick strip 516 is disposed, which hides a portion of right corner bracket fitting 508, left corner bracket fitting 510, and a filler panel (not shown) that connects and extends between the right corner bracket fitting 508 and the left corner bracket fitting 510.

[0026] Monument 502 takes the form of a cabinet 518 having a door 520. Door strike 522 is coupled to left corner bracket fitting 510 via kick strip 516. Door 520 of monument 502 is in a closed state by door strike 522 in attachment system 506.
