Abstract

To provide an activator for polymerization catalysts that makes it possible to produce ethylene polymer particles with a narrow molecular weight distribution and a narrow particle size distribution while achieving a high level of activity, and a catalyst for the production of polyethylene comprising the same.SOLUTION: An activator for polymerization catalysts comprises organic modified clay particles, which are organic modified clay having organic aliphatic groups, characterized by a) a median size of 8 μm or more and 20 μm or less, b) a geometric standard deviation of particle size of 0.15 or less, and c) the proportion of particles with a circularity of 0.9-1 in all the particles being less than 90 wt.%, and d) a specific surface area of 2 m2 / g or more as determined by the BET method.SELECTED DRAWING: None
