Abstract

An aerosol-generating article is provided that includes an aerosol-forming substrate for generating an inhalable aerosol upon heating. The aerosol-generating article (10) comprises a plurality of elements assembled in the form of a rod having a mouth end (70) and a distal end (80) upstream from the mouth end. The plurality of elements includes an aerosol-forming substrate (20) located at or toward the distal end of the rod. An elongated susceptor (25) is disposed substantially longitudinally within the rod and in thermal contact with the aerosol-forming substrate (20). The susceptor allows the article to be consumed using an electrically operated aerosol-generating device having an inductor.

Claims

1. An aerosol generating article used in conjunction with an electrically operated aerosol generating device, The aerosol generating article comprises a plurality of elements assembled in the form of a rod, and the plurality of elements include an aerosol forming substrate. The aerosol-forming substrate comprises one or more non-tobacco fragments or sheets containing an aerosol-forming material. A single elongated susceptor is located within the aerosol-forming substrate and is in direct physical contact with the aerosol-forming substrate. The single elongated susceptor is approximately the same length as the aerosol-forming substrate, is positioned at the radial center within the rod, and extends along the longitudinal axis of the rod. An aerosol generating article wherein the single elongated susceptor is made of a susceptor material configured to convert electromagnetic energy into heat, and the susceptor material includes a ferromagnetic material.

2. The aerosol generating article according to claim 1, wherein the single elongated susceptor has a length of 6 mm to 12 mm.

3. The aerosol generating article according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the single elongated susceptor has a width of 1 mm to 5 mm.

4. The aerosol generating article according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the single elongated susceptor has a thickness of 10 micrometers to 500 micrometers.

5. The aerosol generating article according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the single elongated susceptor is in the form of a blade.

6. The aerosol generating article according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the single elongated susceptor has a certain cross-section.

7. The aerosol generating article according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the elongated susceptor is positioned along the radial central axis of the aerosol-forming substrate.

8. The aerosol generating article according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the aerosol-forming substrate comprises a non-tobacco volatile flavor compound configured to be released when the aerosol-forming substrate is heated.

9. The aerosol generating article according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the aerosol-forming substrate comprises two or more aerosol-forming bodies.

10. The aerosol generating article according to claim 9, wherein the two or more aerosol forming bodies include at least one of glycerin and propylene glycol.

11. The aerosol generating article according to claim 1 or 2, further comprising a support element located immediately downstream of the aerosol forming substrate.

12. The aerosol generating article according to claim 11, wherein the support element is formed from a polymer material.

13. The aerosol generating article according to claim 11 or 12, wherein the support element has an outer diameter substantially equal to the outer diameter of the aerosol generating article.

14. The aerosol generating article according to claim 1 or 2, further comprising a mouthpiece.

15. The aerosol generating article according to claim 14, wherein the mouthpiece includes a filter.

16. The aerosol generating article according to claim 15, wherein the filter is formed from cellulose acetate tofu.

17. The aerosol generating article according to claim 14 or 15, wherein the mouthpiece has an outer diameter substantially equal to the outer diameter of the aerosol generating article.

18. The aerosol generating article according to claim 1 or 2, further comprising an aerosol cooling element located downstream of the aerosol forming substrate.

19. The aerosol generating article according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the aerosol generating article has a total length of approximately 45 millimeters.

20. The aerosol generating article according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the aerosol generating article has an outer diameter of 7.2 mm ± 10%.

21. A method for manufacturing an aerosol-generating article according to any one of claims 1 to 20, comprising the step of assembling a plurality of elements into the form of a rod, wherein the plurality of elements include an aerosol-forming substrate and a single elongated susceptor substantially positioned in the longitudinal direction within the rod and in thermal contact with the aerosol-forming substrate.
