AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing vehicle risk detection systems struggle to effectively guide a driver's gaze towards multiple external risks simultaneously, leading to a heavy cognitive burden and potential confusion when prioritizing warnings for varying risk levels.

Method used

An external risk visual guidance device that utilizes an in-vehicle detection device to determine the driver's gaze direction, calculates the required gaze movement for each risk, and outputs warnings in an order that minimizes the total gaze movement, thereby reducing the cognitive burden on the driver.

🎯Benefits of technology

The system efficiently guides the driver's gaze towards multiple external risks by optimizing the sequence of warnings based on gaze movement, thereby reducing the cognitive load and ensuring timely recognition of critical hazards.

Abstract

To allow output of an alarm for multiple risks when there are multiple risks outside a vehicle.SOLUTION: A visible guide device 10 for risks outside a vehicle including output units 25 to 27 that output alarms for guiding the line of sight of a driver 2 of a vehicle 1 to a risk outside the vehicle, comprises: an in-vehicle detection device 23 that detects information from which a line-of-sight direction of the driver 2 can be derived; and a control unit 15. The control unit 15 acquires the line-of-sight direction of the driver 2 from detection information of the in-vehicle detection device 23, calculates an amount of line-of-sight movement for making the driver see each of alarm targets that represent multiple risks outside the vehicle with respect to the acquired line-of-sight direction, and determines an output order of alarms from the output units 25 to 27 regarding the multiple risks outside the vehicle on the basis of the amount of line-of-sight movement for making the driver see at least an alarm target that poses a risk. In accordance with the determined alarm order, the output units 25 to 27 output alarms for making the driver see the alarm objects that represent multiple risks outside the vehicle.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
