Automated traffic mapping

A system of mobile units are installed in multiple vehicles in traffic. These mobile units include both wireless communications devices and apparatus that determines the location of each vehicle. Monitoring a vehicle's position as a function of time also reveals the velocity of the vehicle. Position and speed information is periodically broadcast by the vehicles to a central monitoring station and to neighboring vehicles. At the central monitoring station, the collective input of a set of vehicles is processed to provide an instant chart of traffic conditions in the area. Warnings of delays or updates on traffic conditions on the road ahead are then automatically returned to subscribers of the information or are used as part of an Intelligent Vehicle Highway System (IVHS). Neighboring vehicles within a region communicating with one another form a network in which the broadcast information is processed locally on the respective vehicles to estimate possible problems ahead and consider computing an alternate road and/or checking with the central monitoring station for more information. If out of range of the central monitoring station, the vehicles in the network form a local area network for the exchange and update of information, and when any vehicle in the network is within range of the central monitoring station, the local area network data is uploaded to help update the overall traffic information.

Vehicle interaction communication system

The information available to a driver of a vehicle is greatly expanded using wireless communications (e.g., using Bluetooth wireless communication devices). In one embodiment, information regarding an adjacent vehicle such as a brake light, a turn light, speed, distance, direction, etc., is transmitted from one vehicle to a nearby or adjacent other vehicle. The received information is used in any appropriate manner, such as causing the receiving vehicle to change vehicle speed or brake, to turn to avoid a collision, etc. In a second embodiment, roadside wireless transceivers collect information regarding passing vehicles, and central database is compiled relating to a traffic conditions. The traffic condition information can be passed back to the passing vehicles for appropriate use, e.g., causing the driver to slow down, or even causing a navigation device in the receiving vehicle to manually prompt for or automatically recalculate a best route to an intended destination. In yet another embodiment, broadcast transmitters can be established at signs and other significant locations transmitting information to passing vehicles. The broadcast information may be as simple as indicating the existence of the sign, or depending upon the range of the particular wireless transmitter, the existence of a particular sign, bump in road, curve, etc., can be forewarned far in advance of when the driver will actually see the relevant object. Alternatively, the broadcast information may be quite detailed, e.g., containing a detailed itemization and directions to a large number of gas stations, restaurants, etc., reachable from a particular exit from a highway.

Apparatus and system for remotely updating and monitoring the status of a vehicle

A vehicle status device and system for remotely updating and monitoring the status of a vehicle. The vehicle status device is located in a vehicle and reports status information for the vehicle and an owner to an interrogating unit. The device includes a database of status information for the vehicle and owner. An update receiver in the device receives updated information from a wide area paging network for storage in the database. An interrogation receiver receives an interrogation signal from the interrogating unit, and a response transmitter transmits encoded status information, including a vehicle identification (VID), to the interrogating unit in response. The updating and monitoring system also includes an interrogating unit which includes an interrogation transmitter for transmitting the interrogation signal to the vehicle status device, and a response receiver for receiving the encoded status information from the vehicle status device. A processor decodes the encoded status information and translates it into plain language for presentation to an operator. The system may be implemented as a ticket-less toll system by providing a database of subscribers in which VIDs are matched to subscriber identities, credit card information, and current status as valid subscribers.

An apparatus and system to manage monitored traffic density in relationship to spatial locational flow rates. The system includes a variety of mobile and/or stationary transmitting and receiving comm-devices utilizing certified comm-devices equipped Avics iChipset arranged in a polarity of vehicles, in communication with stationary and/or mobile hub comm-devices and/or other certified comm-devices, strategically arranged within and/or along one or more roadways and in communication with a server channel networked to a central server. Configured to receive and/or transmit encrypted traffic data from the diversity of stationary and/or mobile transmitting and receiving comm-devices over the network, update traffic data in the non shared database, continuously calculate optimal traffic density flow for one or more of vehicles traveling along the one or more roadways based on the updated vehicular transit data, transmitting variations in speed adjustments in a network infrastructure to one or more vehicles; adjusting traffic light intersections based on traffic density traversing such roadways based on the optimal traffic flow suggestions combined with Predicated Traffic Artifacts transmitted via system generated encrypted digital comm-advice directives; and in turn share extracted and/or transmitted data with each state an federal DOT departments and other stack holders, including insurance companies and vehicle manufacturers and dealers with information to assist with making the traffic network safer. The present invention presents an Intuitive ITS engaged in Channeled Vehicular Telematics conveying statistical data, from an plurality of network devices, providing informational services forecasting safety-critical features and more, in return gathering and disseminating connected channelled intelligence between vehicles from within and surrounding infrastructures and other shareholders. Such data includes vehicle Phase-Change Spatial analytics from traffic congestion artifacts, along with Consumption Variable Analysis that provides real-time Energy Summation Data from combined vehicle exhausted energy by adjusting traffic flow based on traffic density in relationship with the human factor, vehicle capacity to navigate and topography and climatic variations in relationship with any area being traversed, and most importantly the use of the unique string identification. USIN acknowledged as ‘tMarker Audit Trail’ or simply tMarker Trail as to data inception creation point. Managed within a secure private network infrastructure, each comm-device is synchronized with localized cloud servers in communication will a central server. This invention embarks on a new era in vehicle management, further enhancing time sensitive movements, leaving no doubt as to Vehicle Symmetry Orientation, especially once you move your vehicle and additional particulars currently not beyond the scope of this art presented herein. ITTS will throughly reduce the worlds fossil fuel supply consumption rate and on many other fronts availed by extracted data, transmitted from each vehicles onboard vehicle processor equipped with Avics iChipSet on certified comm-devices, reducing navigational concerns to elementary variables creating a safe traffic network.
