COUNTERWEIGHT TORSION ELEMENTS FOR FIBER OPTIC ADAPTERS

Abstract

An example of a counterweight element for a fiber optic adapter is provided. The counterweight element includes a flexible body section configured and sized to be inserted at least partially into the fiber optic adapter through either the first or second opening. The counterweight element includes means for retaining the flexible body section relative to the fiber optic adapter, such that the flexible body section remains at least partially inside the fiber optic adapter. The flexible body section is configured to be displaced after the insertion of at least one of the first or second fiber optic connectors into the respective first or second opening of the fiber optic adapter.The displacement of the flexible body section imparts a deflection force on at least one of the first fiber optic connector or the second fiber optic connector.
