Method for calibrating a set of laser profilometers

Abstract

A method for calibrating a set of laser profilometers is provided in that it comprises the steps of: providing at least two profilometers (11); providing a calibration standard (20) having at least six reference points; using the profilometers (11), scanning the calibration standard (20) so that at least six of the same reference points are visible in scans taken by the at least two profilometers (11); for each profilometer (11), the position of the reference points in three axes is detected in its corresponding scan and their positions are determined relative to a specific profilometer (11) in the local coordinate system of the given profilometer; sorting the scanned reference points by labeling each point so that each scan contains the same labels for the same reference point;and calculating a transformation matrix for the coordinates of the reference points of each profilometer to transform these coordinates from the local coordinate system of each profilometer to the external coordinate system.;
