Abstract

A swimming pool inflatable includes an inflatable body and a cup holder coupled to the inflatable body. An umbrella is coupled to an outer surface of the inflatable body. The umbrella is positioned adjacent the cup holder to cover the cup holder. The umbrella includes a shaft and a cover. The shaft has a top end and a bottom end coupled to the inflatable body. The shaft is inflatable to project from an outer surface of the inflatable body and deflatable to be collapsed. The cover is coupled to the top end of the shaft. The cover is inflatable to project radially from the shaft and deflatable to be collapsed.

The prior art, as best understood, does not disclose a swimming pool inflatable that includes an inflatable body, a cup holder coupled to the inflatable body, and an umbrella coupled to an outer surface of the inflatable body. [0020] With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 8 thereof, a new swimming pool inflatable embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

[0021] As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 8, the swimming pool inflatable 10 generally comprises an inflatable body 12 and a cup holder 14 coupled to the inflatable body 12. An umbrella 16 is coupled to an outer surface 18 of the inflatable body 12. The umbrella 16 is positioned adjacent the cup holder 14 to cover 22 the cup holder 14. The umbrella 16 includes a shaft 20 and a cover 22. The shaft 20 has a top end 24 and a bottom end 26 coupled to the inflatable body 12. The shaft 20 is inflatable to project from an outer surface 18 of the inflatable body 12 and deflatable to be collapsed. The cover 22 is coupled to the top end 24 of the shaft 20. The cover 22 is inflatable to project radially from the shaft 20 and deflatable to be collapsed.

[0022] The umbrella 16 includes an air valve 28 configured for passage of air to selectively inflate and deflate the umbrella 16. The cover 22 is a conical disk 30 integrally formed with the shaft 20 and inflatable with the shaft 20. In the exemplary embodiment, the conical disk 30 could include decorative markings 32 to look like a real umbrella.

[0023] In the exemplary embodiment shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, the swimming pool inflatable 10 further includes a base 34 attached to the inflatable body 12. The base 34 is attached to the bottom end 26 of the shaft 20 of the umbrella 16 to stabilize the shaft 20. The base 34 could be a seal ring made of relatively rigid plastic or rubber. In another possible embodiment, the base 34 could be in the form of a plastic disk attached to the inflatable body 12, such as attached to the outer surface 18 or an inner surface. In another possible embodiment, the base 34 could be made of a relatively thick or stiff material, such as butyl rubber, in order to resist bending. Such a design could be used by itself or in combination with the base 34.

[0024] In the exemplary embodiment, the shaft 20 has an inflated height in the range of four to eight inches. The cover 22 has an inflated outer diameter in the range of four to eight inches. However, the shaft 20 and / or the cover 22 could have different sizes outside these ranges.

[0025] In the exemplary embodiment, the umbrella 16 is coupled to the inflatable body 12 but the interiors are separate and thus inflated separately. However, in one possible embodiment, the shaft 20 is integrally formed with the inflatable body 12 and inflatable with the body. In other words, the interior of the shaft 20 would be connected to the interior of the inflatable body 12.

[0026] FIGS. 1 through 6 show one example in which the inflatable body 12 is a ring-shaped tube 36. The inflatable body 12 includes handles 38 and an inflatable headrest 40. In the exemplary embodiment, there are two cup holders 14 and two umbrellas 16. FIG. 7 shows another example in which the inflatable body 12 is a chair 42. The chair 42 includes an arm rest 44 in which the cup holder 14 is positioned. The umbrella 16 is coupled to the arm rest 44. The umbrella 16 could be included in any other type of swimming pool inflatable 10, such as rafts and floats.

[0027] FIG. 8 shows an alternative design of the umbrella 16. The cover 22 includes a plurality of ribs 46 projecting radially from the shaft 20. Each of the ribs 46 is a tube integrally formed with the shaft 20 and inflatable with the shaft 20, like is shown in FIG. 6. The cover 22 includes a plurality of panels 48. Each of the panels 48 is attached between a respective pair of the ribs 46. Each of the panels 48 is made of a flexible material configured to be stretched taut when the ribs 46 are inflated. In the exemplary embodiment, the shaft 20 and the ribs 46 are made of flexible plastic or rubber, and the panels 48 are made of ultraviolet-resistant fabric. The umbrella 16 in this embodiment is essentially designed like a traditional beach umbrella.

[0028] To use the umbrella 16, the user simply inflates the umbrella 16. As shown in FIG. 2, the inflated umbrella 16 covers the cup holder 14 and a beverage container 60 located in the cup holder 14 to shade the beverage container 60 to help keep a beverage in the beverage container 60 cool, as well as help prevent splashed water from entering the beverage container 60. The umbrella 16 can be deflated if the user does not wish to use the umbrella 16, such as when placing the swimming pool inflatable 10 into storage.

[0029] With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

Claims

1. A swimming pool inflatable comprising:an inflatable body;a cup holder being coupled to said inflatable body; andan umbrella being coupled to an outer surface of said inflatable body, said umbrella being positioned adjacent said cup holder to cover said cup holder, said umbrella including:a shaft having a top end and a bottom end being coupled to said inflatable body, said shaft being inflatable to project from an outer surface of said inflatable body and deflatable to be collapsed, anda cover being coupled to said top end of said shaft, said cover being inflatable to project radially from said shaft and deflatable to be collapsed.

2. The swimming pool inflatable of claim 1, wherein said umbrella includes an air valve configured for passage of air to selectively inflate and deflate said umbrella.

The swimming pool inflatable of claim 1, wherein:said cover includes a plurality of ribs projecting radially from said shaft;each of said ribs is a tube integrally formed with said shaft and inflatable with said shaft;said cover includes a plurality of panels;each of said panels is attached between a respective pair of said ribs; andeach of said panels is made of a flexible material configured to be stretched taut when said ribs are inflated.

4. The swimming pool inflatable of claim 3, wherein:said shaft and said ribs are made of flexible plastic or rubber; andsaid panels are made of ultraviolet-resistant fabric.

5. The swimming pool inflatable of claim 1, wherein said cover is a conical disk integrally formed with said shaft and inflatable with said shaft.

6. The swimming pool inflatable of claim 1, further comprising a base being attached to said inflatable body, said base being attached to said bottom end of said shaft of said umbrella to stabilize said shaft.

7. The swimming pool inflatable of claim 6, wherein said base is made of butyl rubber.

8. The swimming pool inflatable of claim 1, wherein said shaft has an inflated height in the range of four to eight inches.

9. The swimming pool inflatable of claim 1, wherein said cover has an inflated outer diameter in the range of four to eight inches.

10. The swimming pool inflatable of claim 1, wherein said inflatable body is a ring-shaped tube.

11. The swimming pool inflatable of claim 1, wherein:said inflatable body is a chair;said chair includes an arm rest in which said cup holder is positioned; andsaid umbrella is coupled to said arm rest.

The swimming pool inflatable of claim 2, wherein:said shaft has an inflated height in the range of four to eight inches;said cover has an inflated outer diameter in the range of four to eight inches;said cover includes a plurality of ribs projecting radially from said shaft;each of said ribs is a tube integrally formed with said shaft and inflatable with said shaft;said cover includes a plurality of panels;each of said panels is attached between a respective pair of said ribs;each of said panels is made of a flexible material configured to be stretched taut when said ribs are inflated;said shaft and said ribs are made of flexible plastic or rubber; andsaid panels are made of ultraviolet-resistant fabric.

13. The swimming pool inflatable of claim 12, wherein said inflatable body is a ring-shaped tube.

14. The swimming pool inflatable of claim 12, wherein:said inflatable body is a chair;said chair includes an arm rest in which said cup holder is positioned; andsaid umbrella is coupled to said arm rest.

The swimming pool inflatable of claim 2, wherein:said shaft has an inflated height in the range of four to eight inches;said cover has an inflated outer diameter in the range of four to eight inches; andsaid cover is a conical disk integrally formed with said shaft and inflatable with said shaft.

16. The swimming pool inflatable of claim 15, wherein said inflatable body is a ring-shaped tube.

17. The swimming pool inflatable of claim 15, wherein:said inflatable body is a chair;said chair includes an arm rest in which said cup holder is positioned; andsaid umbrella is coupled to said arm rest.
