It is noted that example embodiments of the present disclosure are equally applicable to other resources in other domains.
[0045] As discussed above, 3GPP agreed on supporting QoE reporting in the scenario of NR-DC. Objectives of Rel-18 NR QoE include enhancements, such as to specify the support for QoE in NR-DC, e.g. enable QoE reporting via SN. In more detail, objectives include, for example, to specify the QoE configuration, and measurement reporting over MN / SN for NR-DC architecture, and specify the QoE measurement reporting over the other DC leg in order to maintain the reporting continuity; to support RAN-visible QoE and radio related measurement configuration and reporting in NR-DC scenarios; to specify the QoE measurement continuity in mobility scenarios in NR-DC; specify the alignment of QoE measurements (including legacy QoE and RAN visible QoE measurements) and radio related measurement in NR-DC.
[0046] To support the QoE reporting in NR-DC, the SRB4 can be configured by the MCG for QoE reporting to the MN as defined in Rel-17. Furthermore, in Rel-18, 3GPP agreed to introduce a new SRB, SRB5, directed to the SCG for the QoE reporting to the SN. Then, the network can use explicit indication per QoE configuration to indicate which SRB is used for the QoE reporting.
[0047] In Rel-17, to enable reasonable UE battery consumption while having fast usage of the SCG when NR-DC is configured, an activation and deactivation mechanism of the SCG is supported. While the SCG is deactivated, there would be no transmission via the SCG radio link control (RLC) bearers, which means the UE will not transmit physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) , sounding reference signal (SRS) or channel state information (CSI) report on the SCG, and the UE is not required to monitor physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) or receive downlink shared channel (DL-SCH) on the SCG.
[0048] For cases when the SCG is deactivated, 3GPP has agreed the mechanism on how the UE should transmit the data to the network, e.g., when uplink data arrives on data radio bearer (DRB) and / or SRB3.
[0049] For uplink data arrival on the SCG bearer (s) or DRB, 3GPP has agreed that the UE indicates to the MN, e.g. via UEAssistanceInformation message, that it has uplink data to transmit over the SCG bearer. For example, the UE may indicate that the UE has uplink data to transmit for a DRB for which there is no MCG RLC bearer while the SCG is deactivated. It is up to the network implementation to activate the SCG in order to transmit the uplink data in the SCG bearers. It has been agreed that when the SCG is deactivated and there are uplink data for one or more SCG bearer, the UE sends an MN RRC message to indicate that there are uplink data for one or more SCG bearer. The MN RRC message may include the following information: “there are uplink data for one or more SCG bearer” . For example, the MN RRC message may include only that information, and no other information.
[0050] Regarding the UE assistance information, it has been agreed that if the SCG is deactivated, and the UE has uplink data to send for an SCG RLC entity while the UE previously did not have any uplink data to send for any SCG RLC entity, transmission of the UE assistance information is initiated to indicate that the UE has uplink data to send for a DRB, if the DRB identity of the DRB is not included in any RLC-BearerConfig in the CellGroupConfig associated with the MCG. For example, UE assistance information may be transmitted as a UEAssitanceInformation message. If transmission of the UE assistance information is initiated to provide an indication that the UE has uplink data related to a deactivated SCG, a flag of uplink data available for transmission is included in the UE assistance information message.
[0051] For protocol data units (PDUs) (uplink RRC messages) arrival on SRB3, it has been agreed that it should not trigger a UE initiated SCG activation request. If the SCG is deactivated, the UE should submit the RRC message (e.g., MeasurementReport) via SRB1 to the MN even SRB3 is configured in the SN. Otherwise, the UE should transmit reports via SRB3 to the SN.
[0052] As discussed above, it is still an open issue regarding how to handle the QoE report transmission in NR-DC when the SCG is deactivated. In other words, if the SCG is deactivated in NR-DC while the SRB5 is configured for the SN for QoE report transmission, for a QoE report explicitly indicated to be transmitted via the SRB5, it is not clear how the UE should transmit the report to the network. Furthermore, the RVQoE and the container QoE may have different requirements, e.g. related to time, and it may be unclear how the UE should transmit the RVQoE report or the container QoE report.
[0053] Therefore, example embodiments of the present disclosure provide a solution for enhanced QoE report for SCG deactivation in DC, especially for enhanced QoE report for SCG deactivation in DC based on QoE policies. According to embodiments of the present disclosure, a terminal device (e.g., a UE) receives, in dual connectivity and from a network device, a QoE policy configuration associated with a SRB5 for a SCG, the QoE policy configuration indicating a policy for transmission of a QoE report when the SCG is deactivated, wherein the QoE report is configured to be transmitted via the SRB5. Then, the terminal device performs at least one operation related to the QoE report based on the QoE policy configuration when the SCG is deactivated.
[0054] It is understood that the above procedure steps may work together, in a flow of operations as described below, partly together or independently of each other. By implementing the embodiments of the present disclosure, enhanced RVQoE report and container QoE report for SCG deactivation in DC based on QoE policies can be supported.
[0055] For illustrative purposes, principles and example embodiments of the present disclosure of a QoE report for SCG deactivation in DC based on QoE policies will be described below with reference to FIG. 1 through FIG. 10. However, it is to be noted that these embodiments are given to enable the skilled in the art to understand inventive concepts of the present disclosure and implement the solution as proposed herein, and not intended to limit scope of the present application in any way.
[0056] FIG. 1 illustrates an example of an application scenario 100 in which some example embodiments of the present disclosure may be implemented. The network environment 100, which may be a part of a communication network, includes a terminal device 110, a first network device 120-1, and a second network device 120-2.
[0057] As illustrated in FIG. 1, the terminal device 110 may also be referred to as a user equipment 110 or a UE 110. The first network device 120-1 may also be referred to as a gNB 120-1. The second network device 120-2 may also be referred to as a gNB 120-2. The terminal device 110 and the first network device 120-1 can communicate with each other. The terminal device 110 and the second network device 120-2 can also communicate with each other. The first network device 120-1 and the second network device 120-2 can also communicate with each other. The UE 110 is in NR-DC. The first network device 120-1 may be a master node (MN) while the second network device 120-2 may be a secondary node (SN) . Alternatively, the first network device 120-1 may be an SN while the second network device 120-2 may be an MN.
[0058] FIG. 2 illustrates an example signaling process 200 of a QoE report for SCG deactivation in DC in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure. For ease of understanding, the process 200 will be described with reference to FIG. 1.
[0059] As shown in FIG. 2, the terminal device (e.g., the UE) 110 may be in dual connectivity with the network device (e.g., the first network device or the MN) 120-1 and the secondary node (e.g., the second network device or the SN) 120-2. An SRB4 may be configured by an MCG associated with the first network device 120-1 for QoE reporting to the first network device 120-1. An SRB5 may be configured by an SCG associated with the second network device 120-2 for QoE reporting to the second network device 120-2.
[0060] Based on determining that the terminal device 110 in dual connectivity is configured with a QoE configuration associated with an SRB5 for an SCG, the first network device 120-1 generates 205, for the terminal device 110, a QoE policy configuration indicating a policy for transmission of a QoE report when the SCG is deactivated, wherein the QoE report is configured to be transmitted via the SRB5 to the secondary node comprised in the SCG. Then, the first network device 120-1 transmits 210 the QoE policy configuration to the terminal device 110. The terminal device 110 receives, in dual connectivity and from the network device 120-1, the QoE policy configuration associated with a SRB5 for a SCG. In some example embodiments, the QoE policy configuration may be transmitted via a RRC message, e.g., a RRC message carrying the QoE configuration.
[0061] The first network device 120-1 may determine 220 the SCG is deactivated and transmit 225 a message indicating the SCG deactivation to the terminal device 110. The first network device 120-1 may perform 230 at least one operation related to the QoE report based on the QoE policy configuration when the SCG is deactivated.
[0062] In some example embodiments, the QoE report may comprise at least one of a container QoE report or a RVQoE report.
[0063] The container QoE report is not time critical transmission. The container QoE report may include measurement reports of an application layer received from the application layer of the terminal device 110 encapsulated in a transparent container, and may be sent to the network in a MeasurementReportAppLayer message, for example. The container QoE report is transparent to the RAN node (e.g., the first network device 120-1 or the second network device 120-2) .
[0064] The RVQoE report is time critical transmission and can be utilized by the RAN node for network performance optimization. The size of the RVQoE report may be limited.
[0065] In some example embodiments, as for the RVQoE report, the at least one operation may comprise discarding the RVQoE report. In this case, considering that the RVQoE report is time critical transmission, the time critical RVQoE report used for RAN optimization may not need to be stored if it cannot be transmitted to the RAN nodes due to the SCG deactivation, and thus the RVQoE report may be discarded. If the RVQoE report was transmitted too late, it may be of no use.
[0066] In some example embodiments, the terminal device 110 may be caused to discard the RVQoE report directly. Alternatively or additionally, the terminal device 110 may be caused to discard the RVQoE report based on determining that the SRB4 is not configured. Alternatively or additionally, the terminal device 110 may be caused to discard the RVQoE report based on determining that the SRB4 is configured but paused for the transmission of the RVQoE report. In this case, the SRB4 is paused for the transmission of the RVQoE report means that the SRB4 is paused for being used for transmitting the RVQoE report.
[0067] Alternatively or additionally, as for the RVQoE report, the at least one operation may comprise transmitting the RVQoE report via a SRB4 associated with a MCG. In this case, the terminal device 110 switches the RVQoE report to be transmitted via the SRB4 instead of the SRB5. Since the MCG is in the activated state and the SRB4 could be used, the RVQoE report is able to be transmitted via the SRB4.
[0068] In some example embodiments, as for the RVQoE report, the terminal device 110 may be caused to transmit the RVQoE report via the SRB4 based on determining that the SRB4 is configured. Alternatively or additionally, the terminal device 110 may be caused to transmit the RVQoE report via the SRB4 based on determining that the SRB4 is configured and not paused for the transmission of the RVQoE report. Alternatively or additionally, the terminal device 110 may be caused to trigger the first network device 120-1 to configure the SRB4 for transmitting the RVQoE report based on determining that the SRB4 is not configured.
[0069] In some example embodiments, if the first network device 120-1 is triggered to configure the SRB4 for transmitting the RVQoE report, the first network device 120-1 may transmit a SCG deactivation indication to the second network device 120-2 for the terminal device 110, wherein the second network device 120-2 is comprised in the SCG. The first network device 120-1 may receive, from the secondary network device 120-2, an indication that the RVQoE report is configured to be transmitted via the SRB5 to the secondary network device 120-2. Based on the indication that the RVQoE report is configured to be transmitted via the SRB5, the first network device 120-1 may transmit, to the terminal device 110, a SRB4 configuration for configuring the SRB4 associated with the MCG comprising the first network device 120-1.
[0070] Alternatively or additionally, as for the RVQoE report, the at least one operation may comprise transmitting first UE assistance information to the first network device 120-1 to request activating the SCG and transmitting the RVQoE report to the second network device 120-2 via the SRB5 after the SCG been activated. In some example embodiments, the first UE assistance information may inform the first network device 120-1 that the RVQoE report is to be reported.
[0071] In some example embodiments, as for the container QoE report, the at least one operation may comprise transmitting the container QoE report via a SRB4 associated with a MCG.
[0072] In some example embodiments, the terminal device 110 may be caused to transmit the container QoE report via the SRB4 based on determining that the SRB4 is configured. Alternatively or additionally, the terminal device 110 may be caused to transmit the container QoE report via the SRB4 based on determining that the SRB4 is configured and not paused for the transmission of the container QoE report. In this case, the SRB4 is not paused for the transmission of the container report means that the SRB4 is not paused for being used for transmitting the container report. Alternatively or additionally, the terminal device 110 may be caused to trigger the network device 120-1 to configure the SRB4 for transmitting the container QoE report based on determining that the SRB4 is not configured.
[0073] Alternatively or additionally, as for the container QoE report, the at least one operation may comprise transmitting second UE assistance information to the first network device 120-1 to request activating the SCG based on determining that a usage rate of an access stratum (AS) buffer for storing the container QoE report is higher than a threshold, wherein the second UE assistance information may inform the first network device 120-1 that the container QoE report is to be reported.
[0074] In some example embodiments, in case that the at least one operation comprises the terminal device 110 transmitting second UE assistance information to the first network device 120-1, the first network device 120-1 may receive, from the terminal device 110, the second UE assistance information when the usage rate of the AS buffer for storing the container QoE report is higher than the threshold. In such embodiments, the terminal device 110 may pause the container QoE report to be reported, store the container QoE report in the AS buffer, determine whether the usage rate of the AS buffer is higher than the threshold, and transmits, to the first network device 120-1, the second UE assistance information based on determining that the usage rate of the AS buffer for storing the container QoE report is higher than the threshold. In some example embodiments, the threshold may be predefined in the specification. Alternatively, the threshold may be configured by the first network device 120-1.
[0075] In some example embodiments, the second UE assistance information may inform the first network device 120-1 that the container QoE report is to be reported. For example, the second UE assistance information may comprise a flag uplinkData-r17 for informing the container QoE report is to be reported. In some example embodiments, the second UE assistance information may comprise an identifier of the QoE configuration associated with at least one of a priority of the QoE configuration or a requirement on a delay of QoE reporting for the QoE configuration, for a determination of whether the SCG is needed to be activated. For example, the second UE assistance information may comprise a RRC ID (e.g., measConfigAppLayerId-r17) associated with a priority of the QoE configuration for a determination of whether the SCG is needed to be activated.
[0076] Alternatively or additionally, as for the container QoE report, the at least one operation may comprises storing the container QoE report in the AS buffer when the SRB4 is not configured or the SRB4 is configured but paused for the transmission of the container QoE report. In this case, considering that the container QoE report is not time critical transmission, the container QoE report may be stored for later use.
[0077] As an example, the at least one operation may comprise discarding the container QoE report. The terminal device may be caused to discard the container QoE report by at least one of the following: discarding the container QoE report directly; based on determining that the SRB4 is not configured, discarding the container QoE report; or based on determining that the SRB4 is configured but paused for the transmission of the container QoE report, discarding the container QoE report. This may be beneficial in case the AS buffer is full or getting full.
[0078] In some example embodiments, the first network device 120-1 may configure different QoE policies for different QoE configurations via the RRC message considering of the priority or importance of the QoE configuration. For example, it may be configured that the QoE report corresponding to the QoE configuration with a high priority is to be transmitted via the SRB4 when the SCG is deactivated. For another example, it may be configured that the RVQoE report corresponding to the QoE configuration with a low priority is to be discarded when the SCG is deactivated. For another example, it may be configured that the container QoE report corresponding to the QoE configuration with a low priority is to be stored in the AS buffer when the SCG is deactivated.
[0079] In some example embodiments, the QoE policy configuration may be transmitted from the first network device 120-1 to the terminal device 110 before the SCG is deactivated. Alternatively, the QoE policy configuration may be transmitted from the first network device 120-1 to the terminal device 110 when the SCG is deactivated.
[0080] By implementing the embodiments of FIG. 2, enhanced RVQoE report and container QoE report for SCG deactivation in DC based on QoE policies are supported. With the QoE policies as described above, the RVQoE report and the container QoE report when the SCG is deactivated in NR-DC could be differentiated. The RVQoE report may be transmitted via the SRB4, thereby in-time QoE report transmission could be guaranteed. Additionally, unnecessary SCG re-activation could be avoided, thereby achieving an efficient UE battery consumption.
[0081] FIG. 3 illustrates an example signaling process 300 of a RVQoE report for SCG deactivation in DC in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure. It is noted that the process 300 may be considered as an embodiment or a more specific example of the process 200 as shown in FIG. 2. For ease of understanding, the process 300 will be described with reference to FIG. 1.
[0082] As shown in FIG. 3, the terminal device (e.g., the UE) 110 may be in dual connectivity with the first network device (e.g., the network device or the MN) 120-1 and the second network device (e.g., the secondary node or the SN) 120-2. An SRB4 may be configured by an MCG associated with the first network device 120-1 for QoE reporting to the first network device 120-1. An SRB5 may be configured by an SCG associated with the second network device 120-2 for QoE reporting to the second network device 120-2.
[0083] At 305a, the first network device 120-1 may transmit a QoE configuration including QoE configuration 1 with a reporting leg of SRB4 to the terminal device 110. As such, the QoE report for QoE configuration 1 is configured to be reported via the SRB4 to the first network device 120-1. At 305b, the first network device 120-1 may transmit a QoE configuration of QoE configuration 2 with a reporting leg of SRB5 to the terminal device 110. As such, the QoE report for QoE configuration 2 is configured to be reported via the SRB5 to the second network device 120-2. At 305c, the second network device 120-2 may transmit a QoE configuration of QoE configuration 3 with a reporting leg of SRB5 to the terminal device 110. As such, the QoE report for QoE configuration 3 is configured to be reported via the SRB5 to the second network device 120-2. It should be understood that QoE configurations 1-3 described as above are just examples, the first network device 120-1 and the second network device 120-2 may transmit one or more other QoE configurations to the terminal device 110.
[0084] At 310, the first network device 120-1 may generate a QoE policy configuration indicating a policy for transmission of the QoE report when the SCG is deactivated, wherein the QoE report is configured to be transmitted via the SRB5 . The first network device 120-1 may generate the policy based on determining that the terminal device 110 in dual connectivity is configured with QoE configurations 2 and 3 associated with the SRB5 for the SCG. The QoE report configured to be transmitted via the SRB5 may comprise the QoE reports corresponding to the QoE configurations 2 and 3. In some example embodiments, the QoE policy configuration may comprise: 1) instructions for the UE to transmit the RVQoE report via the SRB4 based on determining that the SRB4 is configured and not paused for the transmission of the RVQoE report; and 2) instructions for the UE to discard the RVQoE report based on determining that the SRB4 is configured but paused for the transmission of the RVQoE report.
[0085] At 315a, the terminal device 110 may transmit the QoE report 1 of the QoE configuration 1 to the first network device 120-1 via the SRB4. At 315b, the terminal device 110 may transmit the QoE report 2 of the QoE configuration 2 to the second network device 120-2 via the SRB5. At 315c, the terminal device 110 may transmit the QoE report 3 of the QoE configuration 3 to the second network device 120-2 via the SRB5. For 315a to 315c, the MCG and SCG are activated, and thus the SRB5 could be used for transmitting the QoE report.
[0086] At 320, the first network device 120-1 may determine the SCG is deactivated. At 325, the first network device 120-1 may transmit a message indicating the SCG deactivation to the terminal device 110. In some example embodiments, the message may further indicate that the reporting leg for the QoE configuration 2 is to be switched from the SRB5 to the SRB4.
[0087] In some example embodiments, at 330a, the terminal device 110 may transmit the RVQoE report 2 of the QoE configuration 2 via the SRB4 based on determining that the SRB4 is configured and not paused for the transmission of the RVQoE report. As such, the RVQoE could be transmitted to the first network device 120-1 in time. Alternatively, at 330b, the terminal device 110 may discard the RVQoE report 2 of the QoE configuration 2 based on determining that the SRB4 is configured but paused for the transmission of the RVQoE report 2.
[0088] FIG. 4 illustrates an example signaling process 400 of a RVQoE report for SCG deactivation in DC in accordance with some other example embodiments of the present disclosure. It is noted that the process 400 may be considered as an embodiment or a more specific example of the process 200 as shown in FIG. 2. For ease of understanding, the process 400 will be described with reference to FIG. 1.
[0089] As shown in FIG. 4, the terminal device (e.g., the UE) 110 may be in dual connectivity with the first network device (e.g., the network device or the MN) 120-1 and the second network device (e.g., the secondary node or the SN) 120-2. An SRB5 may be configured by an SCG associated with the second network device 120-2 for QoE reporting to the second network device 120-2. In the example of Fig. 4 an SRB4 is not configured at the initial stage.
[0090] At 405a, the first network device 120-1 may transmit a QoE configuration including QoE configuration 1 with a reporting leg of SRB5 to the terminal device 110. As such, the QoE report for QoE configuration 1 is configured to be reported via the SRB5 to the second network device 120-2. It should be understood that the QoE configuration 1 described as above is just an example, the first network device 120-1 and the second network device 120-2 may transmit one or more other QoE configurations configured to be reported via the SRB5 to the terminal device 110.
[0091] At 410, the first network device 120-1 may generate a QoE policy configuration indicating a policy for transmission of the QoE report configured to be transmitted via the SRB5 when the SCG is deactivated. The first network device 120-1 may generate the policy based on determining that the terminal device 110 in dual connectivity is configured with the QoE configuration 1 associated with the SRB5 for the SCG. The QoE report configured to be transmitted via the SRB5 may comprise the QoE report corresponding to the QoE configuration 1. In some example embodiments, the QoE policy configuration may comprise triggering the first network device 120-1 to configure the SRB4 for transmitting the RVQoE report based on determining that the SRB4 is not configured.
[0092] At 405b, the first network device 120-1 may transmit the QoE configuration 1 to the terminal device 110 with the QoE policy configuration. In some example embodiments, the QoE policy configuration may indicate switching the reporting leg of the QoE configuration 1 from the SRB5 to the SRB4 when SCG is deactivated.
[0093] At 415, the terminal device 110 may transmit the QoE report 1 of the QoE configuration 1 to the second network device 120-2 via the SRB5. For 415, the MCG and SCG are activated, and thus the SRB5 could be used for transmitting the QoE report. At 420, the first network device 120-1 may determine the SCG is deactivated.
[0094] Considering that the QoE report to be transmitted via SRB5 may be switched to the SRB4 and the SRB4 is not configured at the initial stage, it is needed to configure the SRB4. The SRB4 could be configured for the transmission of the QoE report, e.g. RVQoE report, by several means. For example, at 425, the first network device 120-1 may transmit a SCG deactivation indication to the second network device 120-2. The second network device 120-2 is comprised in the SCG. At 430, the first network device 120-1 may receive, from the second network device 120-2, an indication that the RVQoE report is configured to be transmitted via the SRB5.
[0095] Then, at 435, based on the indication that the RVQoE report is configured to be transmitted via the SRB5, the first network device 120-1 may transmit, to the terminal device 110, a SRB4 configuration for configuring the SRB4 associated with the MCG comprising the first network device 120-1.
[0096] At 440, the first network device 120-1 may transmit a message indicating the SCG deactivation to the terminal device 110. At 445, the terminal device 110 may perform at least one operation related to the QoE report based on the QoE policy configuration. For example, at 450, based on the QoE policy configuration, the terminal device 110 may transmit the RVQoE report 1 via the SRB4 to the first network device 120-1 according to the SRB4 configuration 435.
[0097] FIG. 5 illustrates an example signaling process 500 of a container QoE report for SCG deactivation in DC in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure. It is noted that the process 500 may be considered as an embodiment or a more specific example of the process 200 as shown in FIG. 2. For ease of understanding, the process 500 will be described with reference to FIG. 1.
[0098] As shown in FIG. 5, the terminal device (e.g., the UE) 110 may be in dual connectivity with the first network device (e.g., the network device or the MN) 120-1 and the second network device (e.g., the secondary node or the SN) 120-2. An SRB4 may be configured by an MCG associated with the first network device 120-1 for QoE reporting to the first network device 120-1. An SRB5 may be configured by an SCG associated with the second network device 120-2 for QoE reporting to the second network device 120-2.
[0099] At 505a, the first network device 120-1 may transmit a QoE configuration including QoE configuration 4 with a reporting leg of SRB4 to the terminal device 110. As such, the QoE report for QoE configuration 4 is configured to be reported via the SRB4 to the first network device 120-1. At 505b, the first network device 120-1 may transmit a QoE configuration of QoE configuration 5 with a reporting leg of SRB5 to the terminal device 110. As such, the QoE report for QoE configuration 5 is configured to be reported via the SRB5 to the second network device 120-2. At 505c, the second network device 120-2 may transmit a QoE configuration of QoE configuration 6 with a reporting leg of SRB5 to the terminal device 110. As such, the QoE report for QoE configuration 6 is configured to be reported via the SRB5 to the second network device 120-2. It should be understood that QoE configurations 4-6 described as above are just examples, the first network device 120-1 and the second network device 120-2 may transmit one or more other QoE configurations to the terminal device 110.
[0100] At 510, the first network device 120-1 may generate a QoE policy configuration indicating a policy for transmission of the QoE report configured to be transmitted via the SRB5 when the SCG is deactivated. The first network device 120-1 may generate the policy based on determining that the terminal device 110 in dual connectivity is configured with QoE configurations 5 and 6 associated with the SRB5 for the SCG. The QoE report configured to be transmitted via the SRB5 may comprise the QoE reports corresponding to the QoE configurations 5 and 6. In some example embodiments, the QoE policy configuration may comprise instructions for the UE to transmit UE assistance information to the network device to request activating the SCG when a usage rate of an AS buffer for storing the container QoE report is higher than a threshold. The UE assistance information informs the first network device 120-1 that the container QoE report is to be reported.
[0101] At 515a, the terminal device 110 may transmit the QoE report 4 of the QoE configuration 4 to the first network device 120-1 via the SRB4. At 515b, the terminal device 110 may transmit the QoE report 5 of the QoE configuration 5 to the second network device 120-2 via the SRB5. At 515c, the terminal device 110 may transmit the QoE report 6 of the QoE configuration 6 to the second network device 120-2 via the SRB5. For 515a to 515c, the MCG and SCG are activated, and thus the SRB5 could be used for transmitting the QoE report.
[0102] At 520, the first network device 120-1 may determine the SCG is deactivated. At 525, the first network device 120-1 may transmit a message indicating the SCG deactivation to the terminal device 110. In some example embodiments, the message may further indicate the terminal device 110 to transmit UE assistance information to the first network device 120-1 to request activating the SCG when the usage rate of the AS buffer for storing the container QoE report of QoE configuration 5 is higher than a threshold.
[0103] At 530, the terminal device 110 may pause the reporting of the container QoE report for QoE configuration 5. At 535, the terminal device 110 may store the container QoE report for QoE configuration 5 in the AS buffer. At 540, the terminal device 110 may determine whether the usage rate of the AS buffer for storing the container QoE report is higher than the threshold. In case that the terminal device 110 determines that the usage rate of the AS buffer for storing the container QoE report is not higher than the threshold, the process 500 will go to 535, and the terminal device 110 may continue storing the container QoE report for QoE configuration 5 in the AS buffer. Otherwise, in case that the terminal device 110 determines that the usage rate of the AS buffer for storing the container QoE report is higher than the threshold, the process 500 will go to 545.
[0104] At 545, the terminal device 110 may transmit the UE assistance information to the first network device 120-1 to request activating the SCG. For example, the UE assistance information may comprise a flag uplinkData-r17 for informing the container QoE report is to be reported. In some example embodiments, the UE assistance information may comprise an identifier of the QoE configuration associated with at least one of a priority of the QoE configuration or a requirement on a delay of QoE reporting for the QoE configuration, for a determination of whether the SCG is needed to be activated. For example, the second UE assistance information may comprise a RRC ID (e.g., measConfigAppLayerId-r17) associated with a priority of the QoE configuration for a determination of whether the SCG is needed to be activated.
[0105] At 550, the first network device 120-1 may transmit a message indicating the SCG activation to the terminal device 110. At 555, since the SCG is re-activated, the terminal device 110 may transmit the container QoE report 5 via the SRB5 to the second network device 120-2.
[0106] FIG. 6 illustrates an example signaling process 600 of a container QoE report for SCG deactivation in DC in accordance with some other example embodiments of the present disclosure. It is noted that the process 600 may be considered as an embodiment or a more specific example of the process 200 as shown in FIG. 2. For ease of understanding, the process 400 will be described with reference to FIG. 1.
[0107] As shown in FIG. 6, the terminal device (e.g., the UE) 110 may be in dual connectivity with the first network device (e.g., the network device or the MN) 120-1 and the second network device (e.g., the secondary node or the SN) 120-2. An SRB4 may or may not be configured by an MCG associated with the first network device 120-1 for QoE reporting to the first network device 120-1. An SRB5 may be configured by an SCG associated with the second network device 120-2 for QoE reporting to the second network device 120-2.
[0108] At 605a, the first network device 120-1 may transmit a QoE configuration including QoE configuration 4 with a reporting leg of SRB5 to the terminal device 110. As such, the QoE report for QoE configuration 4 is configured to be reported via the SRB5 to the second network device 120-2. It should be understood that the QoE configuration 4 described as above is just an example, the first network device 120-1 and the second network device 120-2 may transmit one or more other QoE configurations configured to be reported via the SRB5 to the terminal device 110.
[0109] At 610, the first network device 120-1 may generate a QoE policy configuration indicating a policy for transmission of the QoE report configured to be transmitted via the SRB5 when the SCG is deactivated. The first network device 120-1 may generate the policy based on determining that the terminal device 110 in dual connectivity is configured with the QoE configuration 4 associated with the SRB5 for the SCG. The QoE report configured to be transmitted via the SRB5 may comprise the QoE report corresponding to the QoE configuration 4. In some example embodiments, the QoE policy configuration may comprise: 1) instructions to transmit the container QoE report via the SRB4 based on determining that the SRB4 is configured and not paused for the transmission of the container QoE report; 2) instruction to store the container QoE report in the AS buffer when the SRB4 is not configured or the SRB4 is configured but paused for the transmission of the container QoE report.
[0110] At 605b, the first network device 120-1 may transmit the QoE configuration 4 to the terminal device 110 with the QoE policy configuration. In some example embodiments, the QoE policy configuration may indicate switching the reporting leg of the QoE configuration 4 from the SRB5 to the SRB4 when SCG is deactivated.
[0111] At 615, the terminal device 110 may transmit the QoE report 4 of the QoE configuration 4 to the second network device 120-2 via the SRB5. For 615, the MCG and SCG are activated, and thus the SRB5 could be used for transmitting the QoE report. At 620, the first network device 120-1 may determine the SCG is deactivated. At 625, the first network device 120-1 may transmit a message indicating the SCG deactivation to the terminal device 110.
[0112] Based on the message indicating the SCG deactivation, the terminal device 110 may perform at least one operation related to the QoE report based on the QoE policy configuration. For example, at 630a, based on the QoE policy configuration, the terminal device 110 may transmit the container QoE report 4 via the SRB4 to the first network device 120-1 based on determining that the SRB4 is configured and not paused for the transmission of the RVQoE report. For another example, at 630b, based on the QoE policy configuration, the terminal device 110 may store the container QoE report in the AS buffer based on determining that the SRB4 is not configured or the SRB4 is configured but paused for the transmission of the container QoE report.
[0113] FIG. 7 illustrates a flowchart of an example method 700 implemented at a terminal device (for example, the terminal device 110) in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure.
