[0094] Non-Anchor Cell

[0095] In some embodiments, in order to saving power, non-anchor cell (s) may not transmit SSB or SIB. In these embodiments, the anchor cell may broadcast SIB of the non-anchor cell.

[0096] In an embodiment, the anchor cell broadcasts the configuration of the non-anchor cells in other SI or configure the non-anchor cells in RRC messages. The configuration of the non-anchor cells may comprise one or more of the following information and / or indication fields:

[0097] - a list of non-anchor cell cells, and the configuration of the cells can include: the cell identify, the frequency, and cell configuration of each non-anchor cell;

[0098] - a list of frequency where a non-anchor cell is located, and the configuration of each frequency can include: frequency, a list of cells for a non-anchor cell, instructions for non-anchor cells, cell configuration, etc.

[0099] - cell configuration: In an embodiment, the anchor cell broadcasts in SIB or configure in RRC messages the cell configuration of non-anchor cells. The cell configuration may include at least one of the following information and / or indication fields:

[0100] 1) whether the non-anchor cell sends SSB or currently sends SSB, if SSB is sent, the periodicity and occasions of SSB;

[0101] 2) whether the non-anchor cell send DRS or currently send DRS, If DRS is sent, periodicity and occasions of DRS;

[0102] 3) whether the non-anchor cell sends a synchronization signal or currently sends a synchronization signal. If a synchronization signal is sent, the periodicity and occasions of the synchronization signal;

[0103] 4) If the non-anchor cell does not send SSB, the anchor cell is the reference cell for the non-anchor cell, or the anchor cell needs to indicate the reference cell. The UE can obtain synchronization of the non-anchor cells, the QCL relationships, etc. by referencing the synchronization of reference cells and QCL relationships.

[0104] In an embodiment, there are three scenarios for configuring non-anchor cells:

[0105] Case 1: The configuration of the non-anchor cells includes common configurations,  such as servingCellConfigCommon. For the case 1, the UE may consider that the access information for anchor cells and non-anchor cells is the same. That is the anchor cells and the non-anchor cells may have the same PLMN, TAC (tracking area code) , cell reselection parameters, etc. Meanwhile, the UE may consider that neighbor cell information of anchor cells and non-anchor cells is also the same.

[0106] Case 2: The configuration of the non-anchor cells includes access information and common configuration, wherein the access information may be cellSelectionInfo, UAC (unified access control) , and cellAccessRelatedInfo. For the case 2, the UE may consider that the access information for the anchor cells is different from that of the non-anchor cells. That is, if the UE wants to camp on the non-anchor cells, the UE needs to obtain the configuration of the non-anchor cells in order to determine whether camping conditions are met. Meanwhile, the UE may consider that the neighbor cell information of the anchor cells and the non-anchor cells is the same.

[0107] Case 3: The configuration of the non-anchor cells includes access information, common configuration, and neighboring cell information (e.g., the intra-frequency neighboring cell information and inter-frequency neighboring cell frequency. For the case 3, the UE may consider that the access information for the anchor cells is different from that of the non-anchor cells. That is, if the UE wants to camp on the non-anchor cells, the UE needs to obtain the configuration of the non-anchor cells in order to determine whether the camping conditions are met. If the UE camps on the non-anchor cell, the UE performs intra frequency or inter frequency measurements based on the neighboring cell information of the non-anchor cell.

[0108] In some embodiments, if the UE considers that the neighboring information of anchor cells and non-anchor cells are the same and if the UE camps on the non-anchor cells, the UE performs intra-frequency or inter-frequency measurements based on the neighboring information of the anchor cells.

[0109] In an embodiment, the UE measures the anchor cells. Specifically, the UE may measure the anchor cells regardless of the measurement results of anchor cells. In this embodiment, the UE enables the measurements of the anchor cells. If the non-anchor cell does not send the SSB, it is necessary for the UE to measure the anchor cell. If the non-anchor cell sends the SSB, UE needs to obtain configuration or paging messages from the anchor cell. Thus, it is necessary for the UE to  measure the anchor cell.

[0110] In an embodiment, for the measurement criteria of enabling the intra or inter frequencies, the UE determines whether the conditions for enabling neighboring cell measurement are met based on the measurement results of the anchor cell and the neighboring cell configuration are of the anchor cell, such as threshold. UE measures neighboring cells or frequency according to the configuration in the anchor cell.

[0111] In some embodiments, for other cells, the anchor cells and the non-anchor cells are broadcasted as neighboring cells.

[0112] In an embodiment, the cell may broadcast a configuration of frequency for the non-anchor cell in the system information. The configuration may include at least one of: the frequency of the non-anchor cell, an indication of the frequency is used for the non-anchor cell; or a List of cell configurations for non-anchor cells.

[0113] In an embodiment, the cell may broadcast configuration of the non-anchor cell in the system information. In this embodiment, the configuration may include at least one of the following information and / or indication fields: an indication the cell is a non-anchor cell; a cell identification of the non-anchor cell, whether the non-anchor cell sends or is currently sending SSB / DRS / synchronization signal, the period and occasion of the SSB / DRS / synchronization signals (if SSB / DRS / synchronization signals are sent) ; the relationship between the anchor cell and the non-anchor cell, or whether anchor cell is the reference cell for non-anchor cell, etc.

[0114] SIB of Non-Anchor Cell

[0115] In order to avoid the UE storing unnecessary configurations about non-anchor cells, the UE may obtain the configuration of the non-anchor cell if certain condition (s) is met. As an alternative or in addition, the configuration of non-anchor cell (s) is transmitted via on-demand SIB. The UE requests the configuration of the non-anchor cells when / after certain condition (s) is met. For example, the UE may request the configuration of non-anchor cells through msg1 or msg3 of a random-access procedure.

[0116] In an embodiment, the conditions for UE to obtain or request non-anchor cell SIB may comprise one or more of:

[0117] - If the anchor cell broadcasts the one or more frequency or cell configuration about  non-anchor cells, UE needs to obtain and read the configuration of the non-anchor cell.

[0118] - The anchor cell broadcasts a threshold value for the non-anchor cell or frequency, and when the measurement result of the anchor cell is greater than or less than a threshold value, and the threshold value relates to a non-anchor cell or frequency or all non-anchor cells, the UE needs to obtain the configuration of the corresponding non-anchor cell. Specifically, the anchor cell broadcasts the configuration of one or more non-anchor cells / frequency or scheduling information about non-anchor cell / frequency, as well as one or more threshold values relating to a non-anchor cell / frequency to obtain or request the configuration of each non-anchor cell / frequency. When the RSRP / RSRQ of the anchor cell is greater than or less than a threshold value, that is, the UE may be within the coverage range of a certain non-anchor cell / frequency, and the UE needs to obtain or request the configuration of that non-anchor cell / frequency.

[0119] - The anchor cell broadcasts a threshold value for the non-anchor cell or frequency, and when the measurement result of UE's non-anchor cell is greater than a threshold value, the UE needs to obtain the configuration of the non-anchor cell; Specifically, the anchor cell broadcasts the configuration of one or more non-anchor cell / frequency or scheduling information about non-anchor cell / frequency, as well as threshold values relating to a non-anchor cell / frequency to obtain or request for the configuration of each non-anchor cell / frequency. When the UE measures that the received signal strength / quality of a non-anchor cell is greater than a threshold value, it means that the UE may be within the coverage range of that non-anchor cell, and the UE needs to obtain or request the configuration of that non-anchor cell.

[0120] - When / If the UE is instructed to obtain the configuration of a non-anchor cell / frequency or camp on a non-anchor cell / frequency, the UE needs to obtain the configuration of that non-anchor cell / frequency. Specifically, the cell uses RRC messages, such as paging messages, RRC establishment messages, etc., to indicate that the UE can obtain the configuration of a non-anchor cell or camp on a non-anchor cell and the UE needs to obtain the configuration of that non-anchor cell.

[0121] Measurements of Non-Anchor Cell

[0122] In some embodiments, if the UE camps on the anchor cell and the non-anchor cell that sends a long period SSB or synchronous signal or DRS, the conditions for measuring the  non-anchor cell by the UE may be one or more of:

[0123] - If the anchor cell broadcasts the configuration of one or more the frequency or cell about non-anchor cells, UE needs to measures those frequency or cell about non-anchor cell; Specifically, the anchor cell broadcasts the one or more frequency or cells about non-anchor cells, as well as the configuration of sending SSB / synchronous / DRS signals, UE needs to measures those frequency or cell about non-anchor cell.

[0124] - The anchor cell broadcasts a threshold value of one the frequency or cell about non-anchor cells, and when the measurement result of UE's anchor cell is greater than or less than a threshold value, UE needs to measure the frequency or cell about non-anchor cells; Specifically, the anchor cell broadcasts a threshold value of one frequency or cell about non-anchor cells. When the RSRP / RSRQ of the UE measured anchor cell is greater than or less than a threshold value, which means that the UE may be within the coverage range of the frequency or cell of non-anchor cell, the UE needs to measure that frequency or cell.

[0125] - The anchor cell broadcasts the priority, and UE selects whether to measure non-anchor cell / frequency based on the priority of the frequency or cell about anchor cell and non-anchor cell; Specifically, the anchor cell broadcasts the priority of the frequency or cell where the anchor cell and one or more non-anchor cells are located. If the priority of the frequency or cell for anchor cell is higher than that of the non-anchor cell, UE could prioritize to measure the frequency or cell where the anchor cell is located. If the priority of the frequency or cell for anchor cell is lower than that of a non-anchor cell, UE could prioritize to measures the frequency or cell where the non-anchor cell is located.

[0126] - If the UE is instructed to measure a non-anchor cell, the UE could measure the non-anchor cells. In an embodiment, the non-anchor cell or the resources on the non-anchor cell have a valid time. Specifically, the cell uses RRC messages, such as RRC release messages, to indicate that the UE can measure a non-anchor cell or a non-anchor cell list. Upon / After receiving the message, the UE starts a timer which expires after the valid time. During the timer is running, the non-anchor cell list is valid and the UE measures the non-anchor cell (s) . If the timer expires and the UE has not connected to the non-anchor cell, the UE releases the configuration of the non-anchor cell.

[0127] In an embodiment, when / if the condition (s) for measuring the frequency or cell about a non-anchor cell is not met, the UE may no longer be within the coverage range of the frequency or cell of a non-anchor cell and the UE may no longer measure that frequency or cell.

[0128] Camping on Non-Anchor Cell

[0129] In an embodiment, the conditions for the UE to camp on / monitor for paging messages / access the non-anchor cell (s) may comprise one or more of:

[0130] - If the anchor cell broadcasts the configuration of a non-anchor cell, the UE meets the conditions for camping on / monitoring for paging messages / accessing the non-anchor cell.

[0131] - The anchor cell broadcasts a threshold value of a non-anchor cell, and when / if the measurement result of the anchor cell is greater than or less than a threshold value, the UE meets the conditions for camping on / monitoring for paging messages / accessing non-anchor cells. Specifically, the anchor cell broadcasts the configuration of one or more non-anchor cells, as well as the threshold values that camp on in each non-anchor cell. When / If the RSRP / RSRQ of the measurement result of the anchor cell is greater than or less than a threshold value, the UE may be within the coverage range of a non-anchor cell and the UE meets the conditions for camping on / monitoring for paging messages / accessing the non-anchor cell.

[0132] - The anchor cell broadcasts a threshold value of a non-anchor cell, and when the measurement result of the non-anchor cell of the UE is greater than a threshold value, the UE meets the conditions of camping on / monitoring for paging messages / accessing to the non-anchor cell; Specifically, the anchor cell broadcasts the configuration of one or more non-anchor cells, as well as the threshold values that camp on in each non-anchor cell. When / If the UE measures that the received signal strength / quality of a non-anchor cell is greater than a threshold value, the UE may be within the coverage range of the non-anchor cell and the UE meets the conditions for camping on / monitoring for paging messages / accessing the non-anchor cell.

[0133] - The anchor cell broadcasts the priorities of the anchor cell and / or the non-anchor cell (s) and the UE chooses to prioritize camping on / monitoring for paging messages / accessing the anchor cell or the non-anchor cell (s) based on the priorities of the anchor cell and non-anchor cell (s) . Specifically, the anchor cell broadcasts the priority of the frequency point or cell where the anchor cell and one or more non-anchor cell (s) are located. If the priority of the anchor cell is higher than  that of the non-anchor cell (s) , the UE camps on in the anchor cell. If the priority of the anchor cell is lower than that of the non-anchor cell (s) , the UE prioritizes camping on / monitoring for paging messages / accessing the non-anchor cell (s) with the highest priority.

[0134] - If the UE is instructed to camp on or monitor or access in a non-anchor cell, the UE meets the condition of camping on / monitoring for paging messages / accessing the non-anchor cells. In an embodiment, the non-anchor cell or the resources on the non-anchor cell have a valid time. Specifically, the cell uses RRC messages, such as RRC release messages, to indicate that the UE can camp on or monitor or access a non-anchor cell or a non-anchor cell list. Upon / After receiving the message, the UE starts a timer which expires after the valid time. During the timer is running, the non-anchor cell list is valid and the UE camps on or monitors for paging messages or initiates access processes on the non-anchor cell. If the timer expires and the UE has not connected to the non-anchor cell, the UE releases the configuration of the non-anchor cell and / or obtains system information and / or camps on / monitors for paging messages / connects to the anchor cell.

[0135] Selecting and / or Accessing Non-Anchor Cell

[0136] If the UE does not camp on the non-anchor cell, the UE may be still possible to connect to the non-anchor cell. The conditions for accessing / selecting non-anchor cell may be one or more of:

[0137] - If the anchor cell broadcasts the configuration of non-anchor cells, the UE initiates a random access process to the non-anchor cell and connects to the non-anchor cell.

[0138] - The UE selects or connects to the non-anchor cell with the highest ranking based on the priorities of anchor cells and non-anchor cells. Specifically, the anchor cell broadcasts the priorities of the frequency point or cell where the anchor cell and one or more non-anchor cells are located. If the priority of the anchor cell is higher than that of the non-anchor cells, the UE prioritizes to connect / select / access the anchor cell. If the priority of the anchor cell is lower than that of the non-anchor cell (s) , the UE prioritizes to access / connect / select the non-anchor cell with the highest priority.

[0139] Procedures of Non-Anchor Cell

[0140] In some embodiments, the procedures of accessing the non-anchor cell comprise one or more of the following cases.

[0141] Case 1:

[0142] FIGS. 1 and 2 show procedures of accessing the non-anchor cell according to embodiments of the present disclosure. The procedure shown in FIG. 1 is a 4-step random access procedure and the procedure shown in FIG. 2 is a 2-step random access procedure.

[0143] Specifically, the anchor cell could broadcast via SIB or configure via RRC message the PRACH or SDT resources on the anchor cell. These resources are used by the anchor cell to identify whether UE is intended to connect to non-anchor cells. These resources may be associated with the PDCCH in the non-anchor cells for RAR (random access response) in FIG. 1 or msgB in FIG. 2. If the UE wants to connect to the non-anchor cell, the UE chooses to send a preamble in FIG. 1 or a msg A in FIG. 2 on the above resources.

[0144] In an embodiment, the UE monitors PDCCH in non-anchor cells for the RAR in FIG. 1 or the msgB in FIG. 2. The RA-RNTI (random access radio network temporary identifier) comprised in the RAR or the msgB is the RA-RNTI generated based on the resources used to send the preamble or the msgA on the anchor cell. If the UE successfully receives the RAR or the msg B, the UE considers it connects to the non-anchor cell.

[0145] Case 2:

[0146] FIGS. 3 and 4 show procedures of accessing the non-anchor cell according to embodiments of the present disclosure. The procedure shown in FIG. 3 is a 4-step random access procedure and the procedure shown in FIG. 4 is a 2-step random access procedure.

[0147] Particularly, when / if the UE wants to connect to the network, the UE initiates transmissions of the preamble in FIG. 3 or the msg A in FIG. 4 on the anchor cell. As an alternative, the anchor cell can broadcast through the SIB or configure through the RRC messages the PRACH or SDT resources on the anchor cell. These resources are used by the anchor cell to identify whether the UE is connected to the non-anchor cells. If the UE want to connect to non-anchor cells, the UE sends a preamble in FIG. 3 or the msgA in FIG. 4 on these resources.

[0148] In an embodiment, the UE monitors PDCCH in the anchor cell for the RAR in FIG. 3 or the msgB in FIG. 4. When / If the UE receives the RAR or the msgB and if the RAR or the msgB indicates that the UE is accessing the non-anchor cell (e.g., if the RAR or the msgB carries an indication and cell identification of the non-anchor cell) , the resources for transmitting the msg3 in  FIG. 3 or the msg5 in FIG. 4 are resources on the non-anchor cell. The UE sends the msg3 or the msg5 in non-anchor cell.

[0149] In an embodiment, if the UE fails to successfully connect to the non-anchor cell, the UE may connect to the anchor cell. For example, the specific process may comprise one or more of:

[0150] - The UE initiates transmissions of the preamble or the msg A in the anchor cell and does not receive the RAR or the msg B in the non-anchor cell (within a time limit) . Under such conditions, the UE initiates transmissions of the preamble or the msgA again in the anchor cell. When the number of times of transmitting the preamble or the msgA exceeds a threshold, the UE considers / determines that the access to the non-anchor cell fails.

[0151] - If the UE receives the RAR or the msgB in the anchor cell, sends the msg3 or the msg5 in the non-anchor cell and the UE does not receive the msg5 or the PDCCH for ACK (acknowledge) . In this case, the UE initiates the transmission of the preamble or the msgA again in the anchor cell. When the number of times to send preamble or msgA exceeds a threshold, the UE considers that the access to the non-anchor cell fails.

[0152] - if the UE initiates the access process in the non-anchor cell and the RACH access process fails, the UE believes / determines that the access to the non-anchor cell fails.

[0153] - the UE fails to access the non-anchor cell (s) and the UE bars non-anchor cells;

[0154] - the UE fails to access the non-anchor cell (s) and the UE initiates the access process in the anchor cell. Specifically, if the UE fails to access the non-anchor cell (s) , the UE selects the anchor cell and initiates the access process in the anchor cell.

[0155] Non-Anchor Cell + WUS

[0156] In an embodiment, when / if there is overlapping coverage between an anchor cell and non-anchor cell (s) in a certain region, the non-anchor cell (s) may consider energy saving / conservation. For example, if the load is low and / or there is no UE, the non-anchor cell may be shut down or reduce the transmissions of MIB or SIB1, or SSB or synchronous signal or DRS may be sent at a larger period. When / If the UE needs to connect to the non-anchor cell, the UE may send a WUS or a PRACH to wake up the non-anchor cell (in advance) . Meanwhile, considering that anchor cell can also wake up the non-anchor cell (s) , the UE can wake up non-anchor cells through the anchor cell.

[0157] In an embodiment, possible methods for configuring the WUS / PRACH may be as follows:

[0158] - the anchor cell could broadcast through SIB or configure through RRC messages the WUS of the frequency of non-anchor cells. The WUS configuration includes at least one of the following information and / or indication fields: whether the frequency of non-anchor cell supports WUS wake-up, or a UL WUS signal time-frequency resource configuration, such as a start time, a cycle, a duration, etc.

[0159] - the anchor cell could broadcast through SIB or configure through RRC messages the WUS or PRACH configuration of non-anchor cells. The WUS configuration includes at least one of the following information and / or indication fields: whether the non-anchor cell supports WUS wake-up, or UL WUS signal time-frequency resource configuration, such as start time, cycle, duration, etc. The configuration of PRACH includes at least one of the following information and / or indication fields: whether the non-anchor cell supports PRACH wake-up, the time frequency resource configuration of the PRACH signal used for wake-up, such as start time, cycle, duration, etc. Based on the WUS configuration or the PRACH configuration, the UE can send the WUS or the PRACH multiple times during the duration.

[0160] - the anchor cell could broadcast through the SIB or configure through the RRC messages the WUS or PRACH configuration of the anchor cell. The WUS configuration includes at least one of the following information and / or indication fields: whether the anchor cell supports waking up non-anchor cells through the WUS, the WUS signal time-frequency resource configuration on the anchor cell, such as start time, cycle, duration, etc., and each configuration could relate with a non-anchor cell. The configuration of PRACH includes at least one of the following information and / or indication fields: whether the anchor cell supports waking up non-anchor cells through the PRACH, the PRACH signal time-frequency resource configuration of non-anchor cells on the anchor cell, such as start time, period, duration, etc. and each configuration could relate with a non-anchor cell.

[0161] - the PRACH resource is used to wake up non-anchor cells. If UE sends the PRACH on the PRACH resource, the UE does not need to listen to the RAR. That is the PRACH resources may not be associated with PDCCH resources. Specifically, when / if configuring PRACH resources  in the cell, the BS may indicate that these resources are used to wake up the non-anchor cells. As an alternative or in addition, when / if configuring PRACH resources in the cell, the BS may indicate that these resources are not associated with PDCCH resources of the RAR. That is, after the UE sends PRACH on these resources, the UE does not need to detect the RAR.

[0162] In an embodiment, the UE may transmit / send the WUS / PRACH (to wake up the non-anchor cell) if one or more the following conditions are met:

[0163] - If the UE meets the conditions for camping on non-anchor cells, the UE sends WUS / PRACH to the non-anchor cells or anchor cells. Specifically, the UE meets the conditions for camping on non-anchor cells. For example, the UE meets the conditions for camping on the non-anchor cells when / if being covered by the non-anchor cells. Under such conditions, based on the configuration of WUS / PRACH, the UE sends the WUS / PRACH to the non-anchor cell (s) or sends the WUS / PRACH to the anchor cell, which then wakes up the non-anchor cell (s) .

[0164] - If the UE measures non-anchor cells and a non-anchor cell has the highest measurement result or is ranked highest in priority, the UE sends the WUS / PRACH to the non-anchor cell based on the configuration of WUS / PRACH or sends the WUS / PRACH to the anchor cell, which accordingly wakes up the non-anchor cell.

[0165] - The anchor cell broadcasts a threshold value for a frequency or cell of the non-anchor cell. When / If the measurement result of the anchor cell is greater than or less than a threshold value, the UE sends the WUS / PRACH to frequency or cell of the non-anchor cell or to the anchor cell. Specifically, the anchor cell broadcasts the configuration of one or more frequency or cell of non-anchor cells, as well as the threshold value for each frequency or cell of non-anchor cell to send WUS / PRACH. When / If the UE measures the RSRP / RSRQ of the anchor cell to be greater than or less than a threshold value, the UE may be within the coverage range of a certain frequency or cell of non-anchor cell. In this case, based on the WUS / PRACH configuration, the UE sends the WUS / PRACH to frequency or cell of the non-anchor cell or sends the WUS / PRACH to the anchor cell which wakes up the non-anchor cell in response to the sent WUS / PRACH.

[0166] - The anchor cell broadcasts priorities of the cells / frequencies, wherein a non-anchor cell ranks as the highest priority or a frequency of a non-anchor cell frequency ranks as the highest priority. According to the configuration of the WUS / PRACH, the UE sends WUS / PRACH to the  non-anchor cell or frequency or sends the WUS / PRACH to the anchor cell which wakes up the non-anchor cell in response to the sent WUS / PRACH.

[0167] - When / If the UE receives a paging message in the anchor cell, the UE sends the WUS / PRACH to the non-anchor cell. Specifically, when / if the UE receives a paging message in the anchor cell, the UE needs to establish an RRC connection. If the UE decides to connect to the non-anchor cell, the UE sends the WUS / PRACH to the non-anchor cell to wake it up.

[0168] - When / if uplink data arrives, the UE sends the WUS / PRACH to the non-anchor cell. Specifically, the UE needs to establish an RRC connection to achieve uplink services. If the UE decides to connect to the non-anchor cell, the UE first sends the WUS / PRACH to the non-anchor cell to wake it up.

[0169] In an embodiment, after the UE sends the WUS / PRACH, behavior (s) of the UE comprises one or more of:

[0170] - If the UE sends the WUS / PRACH to the non-anchor cell or anchor cell, the UE may search for the SSB, MIB, or SIB of the non-anchor cell within a certain period of time (after sending the WUS / PRACH) . If the SSB, MIB, or SIB of the non-anchor cell is detected, the UE determines that that the non-anchor cell has been awakened and normal signal transmission can be restored. If the SSB, MIB, or SIB of the non-anchor cell is not detected, the UE considers / determines that awakening the non-anchor cell fails. Specifically, after the UE sends the WUS / PRACH, the UE starts a timer. During the timer is running, the UE detects / searches the MIB, SIB, or the SSB of the non-anchor cell. If the SSB, MIB, or SIB of the non-anchor cell is detected, the UE believes / determines / considers that the non-anchor cell has been awakened and normal signal transmissions can be restored. If the timer times out and the UE does not detect the MIB, SIB, or SSB of the non-anchor cell, the UE believes / determines / considers that waking up the non-anchor cell fails.

[0171] - If the non-anchor cell is awakened and meets the conditions for camping on, the UE camps on the non-anchor cell.

[0172] - If the non-anchor cell is awakened and the awakened non-anchor cell is in response to paging or the arrival of the uplink data or anchor cell indication, the UE proceeds with the access process, e.g., initiating the RACH process.

[0173] - If the non-anchor cell fails to wake up, the UE may send the WUS / PRACH again. If the UE remains failing to receive the MIB, SIB, or SSB of the non-anchor cell, the UE may bar the cell / frequency. Specifically, if the number of times UE sends WUS / PRACH reaches / exceeds a threshold or if the UE sends WUS / PRACH for more than a certain amount of time and the UE does not detect the MIB, SIB, or SSB of the cell, the UE bars the cell or the frequency.

[0180] In an embodiment, the storage unit 710 and the program code 712 may be omitted. The processor 700 may include a storage unit with stored program code.

[0181] The processor 700 may implement any steps described in exemplified embodiments on the wireless network node 70, e.g., via executing the program code 712.

[0182] The communication unit 720 may be a transceiver. The communication unit 720 may as an alternative or in addition be combining a transmitting unit and a receiving unit configured to transmit and to receive, respectively, signals to and from a wireless terminal (e.g., a user equipment or another wireless network node) .

[0183] FIG. 8 shows a flowchart of a method according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. The method / process shown in FIG. 8 may be used in a wireless terminal (e.g., UE) and comprises the following step:

[0184] Step 801: Receive, from a wireless network node, configuration information of at least one second cell in a first cell.

[0185] In FIG. 8, the second cell (s) (e.g., non-anchor cell (s) ) may enter an energy saving state. For example, the second cell (s) may be shut down or the wireless network node may shut down the second cell (s) , e.g., if a load of the second cell (s) is low and / or if there is no service terminal in the second cell (s) . If the second cell (s) is shut down, signal communications (e.g., transmissions of at least one of MIB, SIB, SSB, SS, or DRS) in the second cell (s) may be stopped. That is the number of signal communications may be decreased to zero. As an alternative or in addition, the number of transmissions of common signal (s) , such as the MIB, SIB, SSB, SS or DRS, from the wireless network node may be decreased. In other words, on the wireless network node side, a frequency of transmitting the common signal (s) may be decreased. On the wireless terminal, a frequency of receiving the common signal (s) can therefore be decreased. Similarly, on the wireless network node side, a period of transmitting the common signal (s) may be extended / prolonged / increased. On the wireless terminal side, a period of receiving the common signal (s) may also be extended / prolonged / increased. In this embodiment, the wireless terminal receives configuration information of the second cell (s) in a first cell (e.g., anchor cell) from a wireless network node.

[0186] In an embodiment, the configuration information of the second cell (s) comprises at least one of the following information and / or indication fields: a list of the second cell (s) , a list of frequencies where the second cell (s) located, an indication of whether the at least one common signal is transmitted in the second cell (s) , a periodicity of the transmissions of the at least one common signal from the wireless network node in the second cell (s) , resource information of the transmissions of the at least one common signal from the wireless network node in the second cell (s) , an indication of a reference cell for the second cell (s) , access information of the second cell (s) , neighbor cell information of the second cell (s) , at least one threshold associated with accessing the second cell (s) , a priority of at least one of the second cell (s) , random-access resource information for the second cell (s) , or WUSinformation of the second cell (s) .

[0187] In an embodiment, access information for the second cell (s) is the same with or different from access information for the first cell.

[0188] In an embodiment, neighbor cell information of the second cell (s) is the same with neighbor cell information of the first cell. In this embodiment, the wireless terminal may perform measurements based on the neighbor cell information of the first cell if / when camping on the  second cell.

[0189] In an embodiment, the neighbor cell information of the first cell is different from neighbor the cell information of the second cell (s) . In this embodiment, the wireless terminal may perform measurements based on the neighbor cell information of the second cell (s) if / when camping on the second cell.

[0190] In an embodiment, for receiving the configuration information of the second cell (s) in the first cell, the wireless terminal may (need to) request the configuration information of the second cell (s) . For example, the wireless terminal may transmit a request message for the configuration information of the second cell (s) to the wireless network node. That is the transmission of the configuration information of the second cell (s) may be on-demand.

[0191] In an embodiment, the wireless terminal may be instructed / indicated to receive the configuration information of the second cell (s) in the first cell. For example, the wireless terminal may receive an indication of receiving the configuration information of the second cell (s) , from the wireless network node.

[0192] In an embodiment, the wireless terminal may need to measure the second cell (s) if / when measuring condition (s) is met. For example, the measuring condition (s) comprises at least one of:

[0193] - the configuration information of the second cell (s) is received,

[0194] - the configuration information of the second cell (s) indicates at least one frequency or at least one cell about the second cell (s) ,

[0195] - a measurement result of the first cell is greater than or less than a threshold indicated by the configuration information of the second cell (s) , or

[0196] - the configuration information of the second cell (s) indicates a priority of a high priority cell in the second cell (s) and the indicated priority is higher than a priority of the first cell.

[0197] In an embodiment, the wireless terminal may stop measuring the second cell (s) if the measuring condition (s) is not met.

[0198] In an embodiment of the second cell (s) in the energy saving state, the wireless terminal may still camp on the second cell (s) .

[0199] In an embodiment of the second cell (s) in the energy saving state, the wireless terminal may monitor a paging message in the second cell (s) .

[0200] In an embodiment of the second cell (s) in the energy saving state, the wireless terminal may (be able to) access the second cell (s) .

[0201] For instance, the wireless terminal may receive, from the wireless network node, an indication of performing at least one of camping on one of the second cell (s) , monitoring a paging message in one of the second cell (s) , or accessing one of the second cell (s) . When / After receiving the indication, the wireless terminal starts a validation timer. When the validation timer is running, the wireless terminal may camp on the second cell (s) and / or monitor the paging message in / on the second cell (s) and / or access the second cell (s) , e.g., based on the configuration information of the second cell (s) . If / When / After the validation timer expires or times out, the wireless terminal may perform at least one of:

[0202] - releasing the configuration information of the second cell (s) ,

[0203] - obtaining system information,

[0204] - camping on the first cell,

[0205] - monitoring the paging message in / on the first cell, or

[0206] - accessing the first cell.

[0207] In an embodiment of the wireless terminal camping on the second cell (s) and / or monitoring the paging message in / on the second cell (s) and / or accessing the second cell (s) , a priority of the second cell (s) may be higher than that of the first cell. The priority of the second cell (s) and / or the first cell may be comprised / indicated by the configuration information.

[0208] As an alternative or in addition, the wireless terminal may receive the configuration of the second cell (s) if / when a measurement result of the first cell is greater than or less than a first threshold associated with the second cell (s) , which means that the wireless terminal may be in the second cell.

[0209] In an embodiment of the wireless terminal receiving the configuration of the second cell (s) , a measurement result of the second cell (s) is greater than a second threshold associated with the second cell (s) .

[0210] The measurement result may relate to signal strength, such as RSRP, RSRQ, SINR.

[0211] In an embodiment, the wireless terminal may perform a random-access process / procedure to access a first second cell (e.g., one non-anchor cell) within the second cell (s)  based on random-access resource information comprised in the configuration information.

[0212] In an embodiment for the random-access process, the wireless terminal may transmit an initial message (e.g., preamble or msgA) of the random-access process by using random-access resources in the first cell to the wireless network node.

[0213] In an embodiment, the wireless terminal may receive a response message (e.g., RAR or msgB) in response to the initial message in downlink resources which are associated with the random-access resources in the first cell and are in the first second cell.

[0214] In an embodiment, the wireless terminal may receive a response message in response to the initial message in the first cell from the wireless network node. The response message may comprise resources of the first second cell. The wireless terminal may an RRC setup request message and / or an RRC setup complete message on the resources comprised in the response message to the wireless network node.

[0215] In an embodiment, the wireless terminal may access the first cell if the random-access process performed to access the first second cell fails. Note that the random-access process fails may mean that the number of transmissions of the initial message of the random-access process exceeds / reaches a threshold. As an alternative or in addition, the random-access process fails may represent that the random-access process is initiated in the first second cell and fails.

[0216] In an embodiment, the wireless terminal may bar the first second cell if the random-access process fails. In the present disclosure, baring a cell refers to that the cell is bared from being selected.

[0217] In an embodiment, the wireless terminal may transmit a WUS for the second cell (s) based on WUS information comprised in the configuration information, e.g., to wake up the second cell (s) . Note that the second cell (s) wakes up represents that the second cell (s) exits / leaves the energy saving state and / or signal transmissions in / on the second cell (s) back to the original / normal state. For example, the number of transmissions of the common signal (s) may be increased. That is the frequency of transmitting the common signal (s) may be increased and / or the period of transmitting the common signal (s) may be shorten, to make the transmissions of the common signal (s) in the second cell (s) back to the original / normal state (e.g., RRC idle / inactive state) .

[0218] In an embodiment, the WUS configuration information comprises at least one of a WUS  configuration or a PRACH configuration. That is the PRACH can be used as the WUS. The WUSconfiguration may comprise at least one of: an indication of whether the second cell (s) supports wake-up triggered by the WUS, or a resource configuration of the WUS. The PRACH configuration may comprise at least one of: an indication of whether the second cell (s) supports wake-up triggered by a PRACH, a PRACH resource configuration in the first cell for the WUS.

[0219] In an embodiment, the wireless terminal may transmit the WUS if at least one of following conditions is met:

[0220] - at least one camping condition of camping on one of the second cell (s) is met,

[0221] - one of the second cell (s) has a highest measurement result (e.g., RSRP, RSRQ, SINR) ,

[0222] - one of the second cell (s) has a highest priority rank,

[0223] - a measurement result of the first cell is greater than or less than a first threshold associated with the second cell (s) ,

[0224] - a measurement result of one of the second cell (s) is greater than a second threshold associated with the second cell (s) ,

[0225] - a reception of a paging message on the first cell, or

[0226] - a requirement of transmitting uplink data in / on one of the second cell (s) .

[0227] In an embodiment, the wireless terminal may search / detect / monitor the at least one common signal of the second cell (s) , to determine whether the second cell (s) is awakened by the WUS. For example, the wireless terminal may search the at least one common signal of the second cell (s) within a period after sending the WUS. If the at least one common signal of the second cell (s) is searched within the period, the wireless terminal determines that the second cell (s) is awakened. The wireless terminal may camp on the awakened second cell and / or initiate a random-access process to access the awakened second cell. If the at least one common signal of the second cell (s) is not detected / searched within the period, the wireless terminal may send the WUS again. If the number of transmissions of the WUS exceeds / reaches a threshold, the wireless terminal may bar the second cell (s) .

[0228] FIG. 9 shows a flowchart of a method according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. The method / process shown in FIG. 9 may be used in a wireless network node (e.g., BS,  RAN, RAN node) and comprises the following step:

[0229] Step 901: Transmit, to a wireless terminal, configuration information of at least one second cell in a first cell.

[0230] In FIG. 9, the second cell (s) (e.g., non-anchor cell (s) ) may enter an energy saving state. As an alternative or in addition, the number of transmissions of common signal (s) , such as the MIB, SIB, SSB, SS or DRS, may be decreased. In other words, a frequency of transmitting the common signal (s) may be decreased. Similarly, a period of transmitting the common signal (s) may be extended / prolonged / increased. In this embodiment, the wireless network node transmits / broadcasts configuration information of the second cell (s) in a first cell (e.g., anchor cell) (to the wireless terminal) .

[0231] In an embodiment, the configuration information of the second cell (s) comprises at least one of: a list of the second cell (s) , a list of frequencies where the second cell (s) located, an indication of whether the at least one common signal is transmitted in the second cell (s) , a periodicity of the transmissions of the at least one common signal from the wireless network node in the second cell (s) , resource information of the transmissions of the at least one common signal from the wireless network node in the second cell (s) , an indication of a reference cell for the second cell (s) , access information of the second cell (s) , neighbor cell information of the second cell (s) , at least one threshold associated with accessing the second cell (s) , a priority of at least one of the second cell (s) , random-access resource information for the second cell (s) , or WUSinformation of the second cell (s) .

[0232] In an embodiment, access information for the second cell (s) is the same with or different from access information for the first cell.

[0233] In an embodiment, neighbor cell information of the second cell (s) is the same with or different from neighbor cell information of the first cell.

[0234] In an embodiment, the wireless network node may receive a request for the  configuration information of the second cell (s) from the wireless terminal in the first cell.

[0235] In an embodiment, the wireless network node may transmit an indication of receiving the configuration information of the second cell (s) to the wireless terminal.

[0236] In an embodiment, the wireless network node may transmit, to the wireless terminal, an indication of performing at least one of: camping on the second cell (s) , monitoring a paging message in the second cell (s) , or accessing the second cell (s) .

[0237] In an embodiment, the wireless network node transmits / broadcast the configuration information of the second cell (s) in the first cell if a priority of one of the second cell (s) is greater than a priority of the first cell and / or a measurement result of the first cell is greater than or less than a first threshold associated with the second cell (s) and / or a measurement result of one of the second cell (s) is greater than a second threshold associated with the second cell (s) . The measurement result may relate to signal strength, such as RSRP, RSRQ and SINR.

[0238] In an embodiment, the wireless network node may perform a random-access process with the wireless terminal, wherein the random-access process is for accessing a first second cell (e.g., one non-anchor cell) within the second cell (s) based on random-access resource information comprised in the configuration information.

[0239] In an embodiment for the random-access process, the wireless network node receives an initial message (e.g., preamble or msgA) of the random-access process in random-access resources in the first cell from the wireless terminal.

[0240] In an embodiment for the random-access process, the wireless network node may transmit, to the wireless terminal, a response message (e.g., RAR or msgB) in response to the initial message in downlink resources which are associated with the random-access resources in the first cell and are in the first second cell.

[0241] In an embodiment for the random-access process, the wireless network node transmits, to the wireless terminal, a response message in response to the initial message in the first cell, wherein the response message comprises resources of the first second cell. The wireless network node receives, from the wireless terminal, an RRC setup request message and / or an RRC setup complete message on the resources comprised in the response message.

[0242] In an embodiment, the wireless network node may receive a WUS for the second cell (s)  from the wireless terminal, to wake up the second (s) . The WUS may be transmitted / received based on WUS information comprised in the configuration information. Based on the WUS, the wireless network node may wake up the (corresponding) second (s) . For example, the wireless network node may increase the number of transmissions of the at least one common signal in the second cell (s) . That is the transmissions of the at least one common signal and / or transmissions / receptions of other type of signals may be restored to an original / normal state (e.g., RRC idle / inactive state) .

[0243] In an embodiment, the WUS configuration information comprises at least one of a WUS configuration or a PRACH configuration. That is the PRACH may be used / considered as the WUS.

[0244] The WUSconfiguration comprises at least one of: an indication of whether the second cell (s) supports wake-up triggered by the wake-up signal, or a resource configuration of the wake-up signal.

[0245] The PRACH configuration comprises at least one of: an indication of whether the second cell (s) supports wake-up triggered by a PRACH, a PRACH resource configuration in the first cell for the wake-up signal.

[0246] While various embodiments of the present disclosure have been described above, it should be understood that they have been presented by way of example only, and not by way of limitation. Likewise, the various diagrams may depict an example architectural or configuration, which are provided to enable persons of ordinary skill in the art to understand exemplary features and functions of the present disclosure. Such persons would understand, however, that the present disclosure is not restricted to the illustrated example architectures or configurations, but can be implemented using a variety of alternative architectures and configurations. Additionally, as would be understood by persons of ordinary skill in the art, one or more features of one embodiment can be combined with one or more features of another embodiment described herein. Thus, the breadth and scope of the present disclosure should not be limited by any one of the above-described exemplary embodiments.

[0247] It is also understood that any reference to an element herein using a designation such as "first, " "second, " and so forth does not generally limit the quantity or order of those elements. Rather, these designations can be used herein as a convenient means of distinguishing between two or more elements or instances of an element. Thus, a reference to first and second elements does  not mean that only two elements can be employed, or that the first element must precede the second element in some manner.

[0248] Additionally, a person having ordinary skill in the art would understand that information and signals can be represented using any one of a variety of different technologies and techniques. For example, data, instructions, commands, information, signals, bits and symbols, for example, which may be referenced in the above description can be represented by voltages, currents, electromagnetic waves, magnetic fields or particles, optical fields or particles, or any combination thereof.

[0249] A skilled person would further appreciate that any one of the various illustrative logical blocks, units, processors, means, circuits, methods and functions described in connection with the aspects disclosed herein can be implemented by electronic hardware (e.g., a digital implementation, an analog implementation, or a combination of the two) , firmware, various forms of program or design code incorporating instructions (which can be referred to herein, for convenience, as "software" or a "software unit” ) , or any combination of these techniques.

[0250] To clearly illustrate this interchangeability of hardware, firmware and software, various illustrative components, blocks, units, circuits, and steps have been described above generally in terms of their functionality. Whether such functionality is implemented as hardware, firmware or software, or a combination of these techniques, depends upon the particular application and design constraints imposed on the overall system. Skilled artisans can implement the described functionality in various ways for each particular application, but such implementation decisions do not cause a departure from the scope of the present disclosure. In accordance with various embodiments, a processor, device, component, circuit, structure, machine, unit, etc. can be configured to perform one or more of the functions described herein. The term “configured to” or “configured for” as used herein with respect to a specified operation or function refers to a processor, device, component, circuit, structure, machine, unit, etc. that is physically constructed, programmed and / or arranged to perform the specified operation or function.

[0251] Furthermore, a skilled person would understand that various illustrative logical blocks, units, devices, components and circuits described herein can be implemented within or performed by an integrated circuit (IC) that can include a general purpose processor, a digital signal processor  (DSP) , an application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) , a field programmable gate array (FPGA) or other programmable logic device, or any combination thereof. The logical blocks, units, and circuits can further include antennas and / or transceivers to communicate with various components within the network or within the device. A general purpose processor can be a microprocessor, but in the alternative, the processor can be any conventional processor, controller, or state machine. A processor can also be implemented as a combination of computing devices, e.g., a combination of a DSP and a microprocessor, a plurality of microprocessors, one or more microprocessors in conjunction with a DSP core, or any other suitable configuration to perform the functions described herein. If implemented in software, the functions can be stored as one or more instructions or code on a computer-readable medium. Thus, the steps of a method or algorithm disclosed herein can be implemented as software stored on a computer-readable medium.

[0252] Computer-readable media includes both computer storage media and communication media including any medium that can be enabled to transfer a computer program or code from one place to another. A storage media can be any available media that can be accessed by a computer. By way of example, and not limitation, such computer-readable media can include RAM, ROM, EEPROM, CD-ROM or other optical disk storage, magnetic disk storage or other magnetic storage devices, or any other medium that can be used to store desired program code in the form of instructions or data structures and that can be accessed by a computer.
