AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

In wireless communication systems, the allocation of time and frequency resources for temporary connections is uncertain, leading to inefficiencies and potential overload when unnecessary DRB/PDU sessions are set up for special purposes like indirect data forwarding, without proper notification to the gNB-CU-CP.

Method used

Incorporating a 'Special Triggering Purpose' IE in bearer context setup and modification requests to indicate the purpose of DRB/PDU sessions, allowing the gNB-CU-UP to notify the gNB-CU-CP whether these sessions are set up for special purposes, enabling re-initialization if necessary.

Benefits of technology

This approach ensures efficient resource allocation by preventing unnecessary DRB/PDU session setup, reducing load on the T-MN-CU-UP, and ensuring successful indirect data forwarding.

[0012] FIG. 2 shows an exemplary bearer context modification procedure;

[0013] FIG. 3 shows a procedure to provide T-SN address to T-MN-CU-UP for indirect data forwarding;

[0014] FIG. 4 shows procedures for bear context setup and / or modification; and

[0015] FIG. 5 shows a wireless communication system structure.DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0016] According to recent development of the wireless communication technology, split base station (gNB or BS) deployment has been supported. For example, a gNB can be split into at least one of: gNB-CU-CP (gNB Centralized Unit Control Plane) , gNB-UP (gNB User Plane) , and / or gNB-DU (gNB Distributed Unit) . A gNB-CU-Control Plane (gNB-CU-CP) can be a logical communication node hosting the RRC (Radio Resource Control) and the control plane part of the PDCP (Packet Data Convergence Protocol) of the gNB-CU for an en-gNB or a gNB. A gNB-CU-User Plane (gNB-CU-UP) can be a logical node hosting the user plane part of the PDCP of the gNB-CU for an en-gNB, and the user plane part of the PDCP protocol and the SDAP (Service Data Adaptation Protocol) of the gNB-CU for a gNB.

[0017] Bear Context Setup

[0018] One of the purposes of a bearer context setup procedure is to allow a gNB-CU-CP to establish a bearer context in a gNB-CU-UP. The procedure may use UE-associated signalling methods. FIG. 1 shows an exemplary bearer context setup procedure. Usually, the gNB-CU-CP may send a Bearer Context Setup Request to the gNB-CU-UP for setting up a bearer for PDU session (s) , and the gNB-CU-UP may, in response, send a Bearer Context Setup Response.

[0019] For each PDU session, if the Redundant PDU Session Information IE (Information Element) is included in the PDU Session Resource To Setup List IE in the Bearer Context Setup Request message, the gNB-CU-UP may, if supported, set up the redundant user plane resources. If it is supported, the gNB-CU-UP may also include Used Redundant PDU Session Information IE in the PDU Session Resource Setup List IE in the Bearer Context Setup Response message. Additionally or alternatively, if the PDU Session Pair ID IE is included in the Redundant PDU Session Information IE in the Bearer Context Setup Request, the gNB-CU-UP may also use it to identify the paired PDU Sessions. In this disclosure, IE, unless explained otherwise, stands for Information Element, which is used to indicate at least one of different functions, information, requests, or status, and so on.

[0020] Additionally or alternatively, if Special Triggering Purpose IE is included in the PDU Session Resource To Setup List IE of the Bearer Context Setup Request message, the gNB-CU-UP may consider that the setup of the DRB and / or the PDU session (s) , for which the IE is included, is for the purpose of indirect data forwarding (or alternatively, other special purposes) . Additionally or alternatively, if any one of a UE Inactivity Timer IE, a PDU session Inactivity Timer IE, or a DRB Inactivity Timer IE is included in the Bearer Context Setup Request message, the gNB-CU-UP may take it into account when perform inactivity monitoring.

[0021] Bear Setup Modification

[0022] One of the purposes of the Bearer Context Modification procedure is to allow the gNB-CU-CP to modify a bearer context in the gNB-CU-UP. The procedure may use UE-associated signalling. FIG. 2 shows an exemplary bearer context modification procedure. Usually, the gNB-CU-CP may send a Bearer Context Modification Request to the gNB-CU-UP for the modification of resource allocation, and the gNB-CU-UP may, in response, sends a Bearer Context Modification Response.

[0023] For each PDU session, for which a QoS Flow Indicator IE is included in a QoS Flows Information To Be Setup IE in the Bearer Context Modification Request message, the gNB-CU-UP may, if support, store and use it for the bear context modification purpose. Additionally or alternatively, for each PDU session, if the QoS Flow Indicator IE is set to false for all QoS flows, the gNB-CU-UP may, if supported, stop the transmission and release the tunnel for the concerned PDU session. Additionally or alternatively, if a Special Triggering Purpose IE is included in a PDU Session Resource To Setup Modification List IE in the Bearer Context Modification Request message, the gNB-CU-UP may consider that the setup of the DRB or the PDU session for which the IE is included is for the purpose of indirect data forwarding.

[0024] Indirect Data Forwarding

[0025] Under the CP-UP (e.g., gNB-CU-UP) split arrangement, to support the data forwarding (such as indirect data forwarding) for a T-SN (Target Secondary Node) terminated bearer (s) , a T-MN-CU-UP (Target Master Node Centralized Unit User Plane) may first set up a PDU session for a T-SN-terminated bearer via a bearer context setup procedure. Additionally and optionally, the bearer context modification procedure can be used to configure the forwarding address at the T-SN side to the T-MN-CU-UP.

[0026] FIG. 3 shows a procedure to provide a T-SN address to a T-MN-CU-UP for indirect data forwarding. The exemplary steps performed by the various nodes are explained as follows:

[0027] S11: The S-MN (Source Master Node) may send a HO (handover) Request message to the T-MN-CU-CP (Target Master Node Central Unit Central Plane) . The HO request may, for example, include a request for a data forwarding address.

[0028] S12 and S13 (Obtainning T-SN (Target Secondary Node) address for data forwarding) : For example, at S12, the T-MN-CU-CP sends a SN Addition Request (exemplarily, including a request data forwarding address) to one or more T-SNs. At S13, the one or more T-SNs send at least one SN Addition Response (exemplarily including data forwarding address @T-SN) back to the T-MN-CU-CP. In these steps, the T-SN may set up T-SN-terminated bearers and provide the address (address @T-SN) to the T-MN-CU-CP for data forwarding with a SN addition procedure. If the direct data forwarding path between T-SN and S-MN has not been established, the indication of the direct forwarding path availability will not be included in an SN addition response message.

[0029] S14 and S15 (Setting up PDU session (s) for MN-terminated bearers and SN-terminated bearers on a T-MN CU-UP) : At S14, the T-MN-CU-CP may send a bearer context setup request to the T-MN-CU-UP. At S15, in response, the T-MN-CU-UP may send a bearer context setup response (exemplarily, including data forwarding address @T-MN-CU-UP) to the T-MN-CU-CP. Thereby, the T-MN-CU-UP will set up a T-MN-terminated bearer, and additionally, it may set up T-SN-terminated bearers for indirect data forwarding. In this procedure, the T-MN-CU-UP can provide the address (address @T-MN-CU-UP) to the T-MN-CU-CP for indirect data forwarding, if there is no direct forwarding path between T-SN and T-MN.

[0030] S16 and S17 (Providing a T-SN address to the T-MN CU-UP) . At S16 additionally, the T-MN-CU-CP may send a bearer context modification request (including a data forwarding address @T-SN, the requested data forwarding address) to the T-MN-CU-UP. At S17, the T-MN-CU-UP sends a bearer context modification response to the T-MN-CU-CP. In these steps, the T-MN-CU-CP provides address @T-SN for the PDU session setup for T-SN-terminated bearer to the T-MN-CU-UP. Then, the T-MN-CU-UP forwards the data received at address @T-MN-CU-UP to address @T-SN.

[0031] S18: The T-MN-CU-CP sends a HO request ACK (acknowledgement) message to the S-MN, which may include the data forwarding address at T-MN-CU-UP (address @T-MN-CU-UP) .

[0032] According to FIG. 3, regarding the T-SN-terminated bearer (s) , the T-MN-CU-UP may only forward the received data to the T-SN without serving it over an air interface. Thus, the allocated resource for the establishment of T-SN terminated bearer (for example, the resource allocation for a SDAP entity and a PDCP  entity) is unnecessary. The allocated resource may end up increase the load of the T-MN-CU-UP. Moreover, if the T-MN-CU-UP rejects the establishment for T-SN terminated bearers due to its overload, the indirect data forwarding for T-SN terminated bearers may be failed.

[0033] To support indirect data forwarding, the address of the T-SN may be provided only to the T-MN-CU-UP after the T-SN-terminated bearer setup at the T-MN-CU-UP. Nevertheless, such bearer setup at the T-MN-CU-UP is unnecessary as explained above. Moreover, the unnecessary DRB (s) or PDU session (s) set up for those already terminated in T-SN may result in the overload to the T-MN-CU-UP, which might in turn result in unsuccessful indirect data forwarding. The overload on the T-MN-CU-UP may be more serious in a CHO (Conditional HO) with candidate SCG (s) .

[0034] To avoid or mitigate the unnecessary setup of DRB or PDU sessions for indirect data forwarding, indicating the purpose for the setup of DRB or PDU sessions is for indirect data forwarding with the indirect data forwarding information by adding a Special Triggering Purpose IE (Special Triggering Purpose Information Element) to a bearer context setup request and bearer context modification request messages is proposed.

[0035] If a gNB-CU-CP decides to setup one or more DRB / PDU sessions for a special purpose (for example, the purpose of indirect data forwarding) , it is proposed to send one or more first indicator (for example, the Special Triggering Purpose IE) within Bearer Context Setup Request and / or Bearer Context Modification Request messages. Each of the first indicators can be associated to each DRB / PDU sessions respectively, indicating the respective DRB / PDU sessions are setup for one or more special purposes. After receiving Special Triggering Purpose IE by the gNB-CU-UP, the gNB-CU-UP can decide that each of the above DRB / PDU sessions is setup whether or not for the special purpose.

[0036] Setting up DRB / PDU sessions may include allocating resource (s) for the DRB / PDU sessions, such as the resource for a SDAP entity and a PDCP entity for the DRB / PDU sessions. Setting up DRB / PDU sessions for one or more special purposes (such as, for the purpose of indirect data forwarding) may include allocating resource (s) for the DRB / PDU sessions for the special purpose (s) . Here, a “DRB / PDU” session may include a DRB session, a PDU session, or both.

[0037] Some unsolved issues include that a gNB-CU-UP does not notify a gNB-CU-CP that each of DRB / PDU session configured with the first indicator for the special purpose (s) is set up or not for a special purpose, by sending Bearer Context Setup Response OR Bearer Context Modification Response message to the gNB-CU- CP. Therefore, the gNB-CU-CP may have no information regarding whether the DRB / PDU sessions configured with the first indicator (i.e., for some special purposes) is actually setup or not for a special purpose. If for some reasons afterwards (for example, that a gNB-CU-CP decides the above DRB / PDU session to be setup not for a special purpose, such as indirect data forwarding) , the gNB-CU-CP may have no enough information to determine whether the above DRB / PDU session at gNB-CU-UP should be reallocated.

[0038] It is, therefore, proposed that, after receiving the Special Triggering Purpose IE, the gNB-CU-UP may notify the gNB-CU-CP that each of DRB / PDU session configured with a first indicator (such as the Special Triggering Purpose IE) is setup whether or not for a special purpose. Then, for those DRB / PDU sessions which are setup for the special purpose, the gNB-CU-CP can re-initiate Bearer Context Setup / Bearer Context Modification procedure, to setup those DRB / PDU sessions not for the special purpose.

[0039] According to some embodiments of this disclosure, a wireless communication method is disclosed. The method includes sending, by a first communication node to a second communication node, a first bearer context setup or modification request for at least one first DRB / PDU session, the first bearer context setup or modification request including at least one first indicator to indicate at least one first purpose of the at least one first DRB / PDU session; and receiving, by the first communication node from the second communication node, a first bearer context setup or modification response, the first bearer context setup or modification response including at least one second indicator to indicate whether the at least one first DRB / PDU session corresponding to the at least one first indicator has been set up by the second communication node for the at least one first purpose.

[0040] According to some embodiments of this disclosure, another wireless communication method is disclosed. The method includes receiving, by a second communication node from a first communication node and, a first bearer context setup or modification request for at least one first DRB / PDU session, the first bearer context setup or modification request including at least one first indicator to indicate at least one first purpose of the at least one first DRB / PDU session; and sending, by the second communication node to the first communication node, a first bearer context setup or modification response, the first bearer context setup or modification response including at least one second indicator to indicate whether the at least one first DRB / PDU session corresponding to the at least one first indicator has been set up by the second communication node for the at least one first purpose.

[0041] FIG. 4 shows procedures for bear context setup and / or modification, and the steps performed therein are explained in details as follows:

[0042] S21: When a gNB-CU-CP decides to setup one or more DRB / PDU sessions, it may initiate a Bearer Context Setup / Bearer Context Modification procedure.

[0043] S22: In this step, the gNB-CU-CP sends a Bearer Context Setup Request message or a Bearer Context Modification Request message to a gNB-CU-UP. Specifically, at the initial state, the request is a Bearer Context Setup Request message, but after the bear context is set up and for modification, the message is a Bearer Context Modification Request message. In both cases, the message may indicate one or more DRB / PDU sessions to be set up or be modified. For example as shown in FIG. 4, the message indicates three DRB / PDU sessions to be set up or modified.

[0044] For these DRB / PDU sessions, the gNB-CU-CP may decide that one or more sessions are to be set up for one or more special purposes. In such case, the gNB-CU-CP may include a first indicator (for example, a Special Triggering Purpose IE) for these DRB / PDU sessions, which are set up for one or more special purposes. According to some examples, each of the DRB / PDU sessions can be configured with one corresponding indicators, but in some other examples, a first indicator can indicate and correspond to one or more DRB / PDU sessions. As the example shown in FIG. 4, two of the three DRB / PDU sessions are configured with a first indicator, which indicates that the corresponding DRB / PDU sessions are for a specific purpose, such as indirect data forwarding.

[0045] S23: After receiving the Bearer Context Setup Request or Bearer Context Modification Request message, the gNB-CU-UP may send, in response, a Bearer Context Setup Response or Bearer Context Modification Response message to the gNB-CU-CP.

[0046] Exemplarily, for each DRB / PDU session configured with the first indicator, the gNB-CU-UP may decide (respectively in some examples) whether to setup a DRB / PDU session for the special purpose. In addition, the gNB-CU-UP may send a second indicator to the gNB-CU-CP in a Bearer Context Setup Response message or a Bearer Context Modification Response message. The second indicator may indicate each of the DRB / PDU sessions (corresponding to the one or more first indicators) is setup whether or not for the special purpose. Alternatively or additionally, the second indicator may indicate whether a DRB / PDU session is set up for the special purpose. According to some examples, there can be multiple second indicators, each corresponding to a  DRB / PDU session having corresponding first indicator. Alternatively, a second indicator can be shared by multiple DRB / PDU sessions.

[0047] According to some examples, the at least one first DRB / PDU session includes a plurality of first DRB / PDU sessions, and the at least one second indicator respectively indicates whether each of the plurality of first DRB / PDU sessions corresponding to the at least one first indicator is set up by the second communication node for the at least one first purpose. Alternatively or additionally, the at least one second indicator includes a plurality of second indicators corresponding to the plurality of first DRB / PDU sessions corresponding to the at least one first indicator. Alternatively or additionally, the at least one second indicator corresponds to at least two of the plurality of first DRB / PDU sessions corresponding to the at least one first indicator.

[0048] For example as shown in FIG. 4, the second indicator associated with DRB1 / PDU session 1 and the second indicator associated with DRB / PDU session 3 may have the different values. For example, a first value of the second indicator may indicate that a DRB / PDU session is setup for the special purpose, and a second value of the second indicator may indicate that a DRB / PDU session is not setup for the special purpose. Additionally or alternatively, a first value of the second indicator may indicate that a DRB / PDU session is setup for the special purpose, and a second value of the second indicator may indicate that a DRB / PDU session is not setup for a special purpose.

[0049] According to some examples, a wireless communication method further includes sending, by the first communication node to the second communication node, a second bearer context setup or modification request for at least one second DRB / PDU session, the second bearer context setup or modification request is devoid of an indicator indicating a purpose of the at least one second DRB / PDU session, the at least one second DRB / PDU session being previously set up for a first purpose; and receiving, by the first communication node from the second communication node, a second bearer context setup or modification response, the second bearer context setup or modification response being devoid of an indicator indicating whether the at least one second DRB / PDU session is set up by the second communication node for a purpose.

[0050] According to some examples, another wireless communication method further includes receiving, from the first communication node and by the second communication node, a second bearer context setup or modification request for at least one second DRB / PDU session, the second bearer context setup or modification request is devoid of an indicator indicating a purpose of the at least one second DRB / PDU session, the at least one second DRB / PDU session being previously set up for a first purpose; and sending, from the first  communication node and by the second communication node, a second bearer context setup or modification response, the second bearer context setup or modification response being devoid of an indicator indicating whether the at least one second DRB / PDU session is set up by the second communication node for a purpose.

[0051] Optionally, after a period of time, for each of the DRB / PDU session, which has been setup for the special purpose at step S23, if the gNB-CU-CP further decides to set up again the DRB / PDU session not for the special purpose, it may re-initiate a Bearer Context Setup / Bearer Context Modification procedure. For example, in FIG. 4, it is the DRB3 / PDU session 3 to be set up again. The following steps can be performed for the purpose.

[0052] S24: The gNB-CU-CP sends a Bearer Context Setup Request message or a Bearer Context Modification Request message to the gNB-CU-UP to setup each of the DRB / PDU session again. This time, a first indicator is excluded from (or not included in) each of the DRB / PDU session. For instance, as shown in FIG. 4, it is the DRB3 / PDU session 3 to be set up again, and the Bearer Context Setup Request message or Bearer Context Modification Request message does not include a first indicator.

[0053] S25: After receiving the Bearer Context Setup Request message or Bearer Context Modification Request message by the gNB-CU-UP, the gNB-CU-UP may send a Bearer Context Setup Response message or a Bearer Context Modification Response message to the gNB-CU-CP. Likewise, a second indicator is excluded from (or not included in) each of the said DRB / PDU session. For example as shown in FIG. 4, the DRB3 / PDU session 3 is to be set up again, and the Bearer Context Setup Request message or Bearer Context Modification Request message does not include a second indicator.

[0054] In other words when the gNB-CU-CP decides to set up one or more DRB / PDU sessions the following steps can be performed according to the embodiments of this disclosure: At S21, the gNB-CU-CP initiates a Bearer Context Setup or Bearer Context Modification procedure. At S22, the gNB-CU-CP sends a Bearer Context Setup Request message or a Bearer Context Modification Request message to a gNB-CU-UP. The Bearer Context Setup Request message or Bearer Context Modification Request message indicates one or more DRB / PDU sessions to be set up. Among the DRB / PDU sessions, the gNB-CU-CP decides that one or more of the DRB / PDU sessions are set up for one or more special purposes. Then, the gNB-CU-CP may send one or more first indicators for each of the DRB / PDU sessions for the one or more special purposes to the gNB-CU-UP. The one or more first indicators can be introduced in a Bearer Context Setup Request message or a Bearer Context Modification Request message. The one or more first indicators can indicate that each of the said DRB / PDU session is set up for a special purpose respectively or together.

[0055] At S23, the gNB-CU-CP receives the Bearer Context Setup Response or Bearer Context Modification Response message from gNB-CU-UP. The Bearer Context Setup Response or Bearer Context Modification Response message may include one or more second indicator corresponding to those DRB / PDU sessions, which correspond to one or more first indicators. Based on the one or more second indicators, the gNB-CU-CP can determine which DRB / PDU session is set up for a special purpose.

[0056] Optional, after a while, for each of the DRB / PDU session that has been set up for the special purpose at S23, if the gNB-CU-CP further decides to reconfigure it not for the special purpose, the gNB-CU-CP may re-initiate a Bearer Context Setup or Bearer Context Modification procedure. For example at S24, the gNB-CU-CP sends a Bearer Context Setup Request message or a Bearer Context Modification Request message to the gNB-CU-UP to set up the DRB / PDU session (s) again, which has been previously set up for the special purpose at S23. This time, a first indicator is not included for the said DRB / PDU session (s) in the message from the gNB-CU-CP.

[0057] At S25, the gNB-CU-CP receives the Bearer Context Setup Response or Bearer Context Modification Response message from the gNB-CU-UP. This time, as second indicator is not included for the DRB / PDU session, which has been previously setup for the special purpose at S22.

[0058] Likewise, the gNB-CU-UP may correspondingly perform the following steps: At S21, the gNB-CU-UP receives a Bearer Context Setup Request or Bearer Context Modification Request message. The Bearer Context Setup Request message or Bearer Context Modification Request message indicates one or more DRB / PDU sessions to be set up. The gNB-CU-UP may receive one or more first indicators for each of the DRB / PDU sessions for the one or more special purposes from the gNB-CU-CP. The one or more first indicators can be introduced in the Bearer Context Setup Request message or a Bearer Context Modification Request message. The one or more first indicators can indicate that each of the said DRB / PDU session is set up for a special purpose.

[0059] At S22, the gNB-CU-UP may send a Bearer Context Setup Response or Bearer Context Modification Response message to the gNB-CU-CP. The gNB-CU-UP may also send one or more second indicators associated with the DRB / PDU session (s) , which, according to the indication of the first indicator (s) , are configured for one or more special purposes. The second indicator (s) indicates that the corresponding DRB / PDU session is set up whether or not for the special purpose. Alternatively or additionally, the second indicator (s) indicates that  whether or not a corresponding DRB / PDU session is set up for the special purpose.

[0060] Optionally at S24, the gNB-CU-UP may receive a Bearer Context Setup Request message or a Bearer Context Modification Request message from the gNB-CU-CP. The Bearer Context Setup Request message or Bearer Context Modification Request message indicates one or more DRB / PDU sessions (which have been set up for the special purpose at S23) is to be reconfigured or reset not for a special purpose (such as a purpose of indirect data forwarding) . This time, a first indicator is not included in the Bearer Context Setup Request or Bearer Context Modification Request message received by the gNB-CU-UP.

[0061] Likewise, at S25 the gNB-CU-UP sends a Bearer Context Setup Response message or Bearer Context Modification Response message to the gNB-CU-CP. The Bearer Context Setup Response message or Bearer Context Modification Response message may indicate that the above DRB / PDU session is set up not for a specifically purpose. This time, no second indicator is included in the Bearer Context Setup Response or Bearer Context Modification Response message sent by the gNB-CU-UP as the first indicator was not included in the Bearer Context Setup Request message or Bearer Context Modification Request message.

[0062] According to some aspects of this disclosure, after receiving a first indicator, such as a Special Triggering Purpose IE, the gNB-CU-UP may notify a gNB-CU-CP that each of DRB / PDU sessions configured with a first indicator (such as the Special Triggering Purpose IE) is set up whether or not for a special purpose (such as a purpose of indirect data forwarding) . Then, for those DRB / PDU sessions which are setup for the special purpose, the gNB-CU-CP can re-initiate a Bearer Context Setup procedure or Bearer Context Modification procedure, to set up those DRB / PDU session not for the special purpose.

[0067] Various exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure are described herein with reference to the accompanying figures to enable a person of ordinary skill in the art to make and use the present disclosure. The present disclosure is not limited to the exemplary embodiments and applications described and illustrated herein. Additionally, the specific order and / or hierarchy of steps in the methods disclosed herein are merely exemplary  approaches. Based upon design preferences, the specific order or hierarchy of steps of the disclosed methods or processes can be re-arranged while remaining within the scope of the present disclosure. Thus, those of ordinary skill in the art would understand that the methods and techniques disclosed herein present various steps or acts in exemplary order (s) , and the present disclosure is not limited to the specific order or hierarchy presented unless expressly stated otherwise.

[0068] This disclosure is intended to cover any conceivable variations, uses, combination, or adaptive changes of this disclosure following the general principles of this disclosure, and includes well-known knowledge and conventional technical means in the art and undisclosed in this application.

[0069] It is to be understood that this disclosure is not limited to the precise structures or operation described above and shown in the accompanying drawings, and various modifications and changes may be made without departing from the scope of this application. The scope of this application is subject only to the appended claims.

[0070] The methods, devices, processing, circuitry, and logic described above may be implemented in many different ways and in many different combinations of hardware and software. For example, all or parts of the implementations may be circuitry that includes an instruction processor or controller, such as a Central Processing Unit (CPU) , microcontroller, or a microprocessor; or as an Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) , Programmable Logic Device (PLD) , or Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) ; or as circuitry that includes discrete logic or other circuit components, including analog circuit components, digital circuit components or both; or any combination thereof. The circuitry may include discrete interconnected hardware components or may be combined on a single integrated circuit die, distributed among multiple integrated circuit dies, or implemented in a Multiple Chip Module (MCM) of multiple integrated circuit dies in a common package, as examples.

[0071] Accordingly, the circuitry may store or access instructions for execution, or may implement its functionality in hardware alone. The instructions may be stored in a tangible storage medium that is other than a transitory signal, such as a flash memory, a Random Access Memory (RAM) , a Read Only Memory (ROM) , an Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory (EPROM) ; or on a magnetic or optical disc, such as a Compact Disc Read Only Memory (CDROM) , Hard Disk Drive (HDD) , or other magnetic or optical disk; or in or on another machine-readable medium. A product, such as a computer program product, may include a storage medium and instructions stored in or on the medium, and the instructions when performed by the circuitry in a  device may cause the device to implement any of the processing described above or illustrated in the drawings.

[0072] The implementations may be distributed. For instance, the circuitry may include multiple distinct system components, such as multiple processors and memories, and may span multiple distributed processing systems. Parameters, databases, and other data structures may be separately stored and managed, may be incorporated into a single memory or database, may be logically and physically organized in many different ways, and may be implemented in many different ways. Example implementations include linked lists, program variables, hash tables, arrays, records (e.g., database records) , objects, and implicit storage mechanisms. Instructions may form parts (e.g., subroutines or other code sections) of a single program, may form multiple separate programs, may be distributed across multiple memories and processors, and may be implemented in many different ways. Example implementations include stand-alone programs, and as part of a library, such as a shared library like a Dynamic Link Library (DLL) . The library, for example, may contain shared data and one or more shared programs that include instructions that perform any of the processing described above or illustrated in the drawings, when performed by the circuitry.

[0073] In some examples, each unit, subunit, and / or module of the system may include a logical component. Each logical component may be hardware or a combination of hardware and software. For example, each logical component may include an application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) , a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) , a digital logic circuit, an analog circuit, a combination of discrete circuits, gates, or any other type of hardware or combination thereof. Alternatively or in addition, each logical component may include memory hardware, such as a portion of the memory, for example, that includes instructions executable with the processor or other processors to implement one or more of the features of the logical components. When any one of the logical components includes the portion of the memory that includes instructions executable with the processor, the logical component may or may not include the processor. In some examples, each logical component may just be the portion of the memory or other physical memory that includes instructions executable with the processor or other processor to implement the features of the corresponding logical component without the logical component including any other hardware. Because each logical component includes at least some hardware even when the included hardware includes software, each logical component may be interchangeably referred to as a hardware logical component.

[0074] A second action may be said to be “in response to” a first action independent of whether the second action results directly or indirectly from the first action. The second action may occur at a substantially later  time than the first action and still be in response to the first action. Similarly, the second action may be said to be in response to the first action even if intervening actions take place between the first action and the second action, and even if one or more of the intervening actions directly cause the second action to be performed. For example, a second action may be in response to a first action if the first action sets a flag and a third action later initiates the second action whenever the flag is set.

[0075] To clarify the use of and to hereby provide notice to the public, the phrases “at least one of  ,  , … and <N> ” or “at least one of  ,  , … <N> , or combinations thereof” or “ ,  , … and / or <N> ” are defined by the Applicant in the broadest sense, superseding any other implied definitions hereinbefore or hereinafter unless expressly asserted by the Applicant to the contrary, to mean one or more elements selected from the group comprising A, B, …and N. In other words, the phrases mean any combination of one or more of the elements A, B, …or N including any one element alone or the one element in combination with one or more of the other elements which may also include, in combination, additional elements not listed.
