AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Autonomous vehicles face challenges in navigating safely and efficiently while adhering to liability constraints and ensuring scalability and safety assurance, lacking an interpretable, mathematical model for safety verification.

Method used

A user-customized driving policy is generated using a host vehicle driving policy model that includes an invariant navigational constraint component and a customizable driving performance component, allowing users to select driving actions, scenarios, and performance parameters through a user interface, which updates the policy based on these inputs.

Benefits of technology

Enables safe and efficient navigation by allowing users to tailor driving policies to specific scenarios, ensuring compliance with navigational constraints and liability rules, while being scalable for widespread adoption.

Abstract

Systems, methods, and computer program products are disclosed for generating a user-customized driving policy for use in navigating at least one host vehicle. The generation of the user-customized driving policy may include accessing a host vehicle driving policy model, wherein the host vehicle driving policy model includes a customizable driving performance component and an invariant navigational constraint component; receiving a driving performance value for assignment to the at least one controllable performance parameter; updating the customizable driving performance component based on the received driving performance value; generating the customized driving policy based on the updated customizable driving performance component and the invariant navigational constraint component; and outputting the customized driving policy for use in navigating the at least one host vehicle.
