Method for indicating spatial beam for type ii channel state information (CSI) in large arrays

Abstract

A method, network node and user equipment (UE) for indicating spatial beams for Type II channel state information (CSI) in large arrays are disclosed. According to one aspect, a method in a UE includes receiving from the network node a configuration for Type II CSI reporting, the configuration including information on a number L of spatial domain (SD) basis vectors. The method includes determining a combinatorial index based on vectors of elements indicating SD basis vectors. The combinatorial index may be based on a first combinatorial coefficient table when a number of ports for channel measurement is less than or equal to a first value and may be based on a second combinatorial coefficient table when the number of ports for channel measurement is greater than the first value. Responsive to a trigger from the network node, the determined combinatorial index is reported in a CSI report.
