Description

REPORTING MEASUREMENT RESULTS

[0001] FIELDS

[0002] Various example embodiments of the present disclosure generally relate to the field of telecommunication and in particular, to methods, devices, apparatuses and computer readable storage medium for reporting measurement results in subband non-overlapping full duplex (SBFD) scenario.BACKGROUND

[0003] Currently, the 3rd generation partnership project (3GPP) the new radio (NR) supports two duplexing modes: frequency division duplexing (FDD) for paired bands and time division duplexing (TDD) for unpaired bands. In TDD, the time domain resource is split between downlink (DL) and uplink (UL) . Allocation of a limited time duration for the uplink in TDD would result in reduced coverage, increased latency, and reduced capacity.

[0004] To address the challenges above, a study on the evolution of duplexing operation in NR has been initiated. The SBFD has been proposed as a scheme of an enhanced duplex operation. In the SBFD, simultaneous DL transmission and UL reception on different physical resource blocks (PRBs) within an unpaired wideband NR cell is allowed. The set of PRBs assigned to a specific link direction is known as subband and this new way of duplexing is denoted as SBFD. Further, this duplexing scheme is also referred to as cross-division duplexing (xDD) or flexible duplexing (FDU) .SUMMARY

[0054] In some example embodiments, if the first apparatus 110 is a terminal apparatus and the second apparatus 120 is a network apparatus, a link from the second apparatus 120 to the first apparatus 110 is referred to as a downlink (DL) , and a link from the first apparatus 110 to the second apparatus 120 is referred to as an uplink (UL) . In DL, the second apparatus 120 is a transmitting (TX) apparatus (or a transmitter) and the first apparatus 110 is a receiving (RX) apparatus (or a receiver) . In UL, the first apparatus 110 is a TX apparatus (or a transmitter) and the second apparatus 120 is a RX apparatus (or a receiver) .

[0055] Communications in the communication environment 110A may be implemented according to any proper communication protocol (s) , comprising, but not limited to, cellular communication protocols of the first generation (1G) , the second generation (2G) , the third generation (3G) , the fourth generation (4G) , the fifth generation (5G) , the sixth generation (6G) , and the like, wireless local network communication protocols such as Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11 and the like, and / or any other protocols currently known or to be developed in the future. Moreover, the communication may utilize any proper wireless communication technology, comprising but not limited to: Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) , Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA) , Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) , Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) , Time Division Duplex (TDD) , Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) , Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple (OFDM) , Discrete Fourier Transform spread OFDM (DFT-s-OFDM) and / or any other technologies currently known or to be developed in the future.

[0056] Multiple duplexing modes may be supported in communication environment  100A. Reference is now made to FIG. 1B, which illustrates blocks 100B of three example duplexing modes, i.e., TDD, FDD and FDU (such as, SBFD) .

[0057] The FDD may be used for paired bands and TDD may be used for unpaired bands. In TDD, the time domain resource is split between DL and UL. Allocation of a limited time duration for the UL in TDD would result in reduced coverage, increased latency, and reduced capacity. The SBFD may be considered as an evolution of duplexing operation in NR. In particular, the SBFD may allow simultaneous DL and UL transmission on different physical resource blocks (PRBs)  / sub-bands within an unpaired wideband NR cell, as illustrated in FIG. 1B.

[0058] In some embodiments, an SBFD slot may comprise both SBFD symbol (s) and non-SBFD symbol (s) .

[0059] For a better understanding, reference is now made to FIG. 1C, which illustrates a block 100C of SBFD resources and non-SBFD resources.

[0060] From the above description of SBFD operation, it may be observed that there are two slot types for both DL and UL transmissions as shown in FIG. 1C, namely:

[0061] ● Non-SBFD slots, during which the entire band is used for either DL or UL (i.e., legacy / full DL / UL slots) .

[0062] ● SBFD slots, during which the non-overlapping DL subbands and UL subband (s) both exist.

[0063] Several SBFD operation modes have been discussed including whether time and frequency locations of subbands for SBFD operation are known to the SBFD-aware user equipment (UE) or not. Further, it has been agreed that at least the operation mode with time and frequency locations of subbands for SBFD operation being known to the SBFD-aware UE is prioritized, which means that SBFD slots should be known by the (SBFD-aware) UE in one way or another.

[0064] Reference is now made to FIG. 2A, which illustrates a communication environment 200A comprising multiple co-channel cross-link interference types.

[0065] As illustrated in FIG. 2A, SBFD introduces some types of cross-link interference (CLI) , namely co-channel inter-subband CLI from non-overlapping frequency resources. This interference may better classified depending on the source of the interference as  below:

[0066] ● the next Generation Node B (gNB) self-interference,

[0067] ● intra-cell UE-to-UE co-channel inter-subband CLI,

[0068] ● inter-cell UE-to-UE co-channel inter-subband CLI,

[0069] ● gNB-to-gNB co-channel inter-subband CLI,

[0070] Besides these newly-introduced CLI types, in case of different frequency domain partitioning in neighbor cells, the system may also suffer from co-channel CLI from transmissions on overlapping frequency resources as bellow:

[0071] ● gNB-to-gNB inter-cell co-channel CLI from overlapping frequency resources,

[0072] ● UE-to-UE inter-cell co-channel CLI from overlapping frequency resources.

[0073] The importance of these interference types has been extensively studied by system-level simulations during the 3GPP study item.

[0074] Reference is now made to FIG. 2B, which illustrates histograms 200B of UPT for SBFD and TDD with different configurations.

[0075] In the scenario of UE-to-UE CLI measurements, the UEs are dropped in confined areas (also known as clusters) so that the UE-to-UE CLI is present. I t can be noted that any of the SBFD configurations (e.g., the third bar) shows lower DL throughput than the static TDD (e.g., first blue bar) . The DL performance degradation is specially noticeable on the 5th percentile, which represents the UEs deployed at the cell edge. One could think about a cell-edge UE transmitting in with high transmit power while another (nearby) cell-edge UE is receiving in DL. The CLI level in such case is quite high and significantly impacts the DL throughput of the cell-edge UE.

[0076] The serving gNB should be aware of the DL UE CLI conditions such that it can apply CLI mitigation schemes. Therefore, CLI measurements are needed for the optimal SBFD operation.

[0077] As part of the dynamic TDD standardization, 2 types of UE-to-UE cross-link interference measurements are under discussed. One consists of measuring the reference signal receiving power (RSRP) of a sounding reference signal (SRS) , also known as SRS-RSRP, and the other consists of measuring the received signal strength indication (RSSI)  of a given set of resources, also known as CLI-RSSI.

[0078] Further, SRS-RSRP is defined as linear average of the power contributions (in [W] ) of the resource elements carrying SRS. SRS-RSRP may be measured over the configured resource elements within the considered measurement frequency bandwidth in the configured measurement time occasions.

[0079] For frequency range 1 (FR 1) , the reference point for the SRS-RSRP may be the antenna connector of the UE. For frequency range 2 (FR 2) , SRS-RSRP may be measured based on the combined signal from antenna elements corresponding to a given receiver branch. For FR 1 and FR 2, if receiver diversity is in use by the UE, the reported SRS-RSRP value may not be lower than the corresponding SRS-RSRP of any of the individual receiver branches.

[0080] CLI received signal strength indicator (CLI-RSSI) is defined as linear average of the total received power (in [W] ) observed only in the configured orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols of the configured measurement time resource (s) , in the configured measurement bandwidth from all sources, including co-channel serving and non-serving cells, adjacent channel interference, thermal noise etc.

[0081] For FR 1, the reference point for the RSSI shall be the antenna connector of the UE. For FR 2, CLI-RSSI shall be measured based on the combined signal from antenna elements corresponding to a given receiver branch. For FR 1 and FR 2, if receiver diversity is in use by the UE, the reported CLI-RSSI value shall not be lower than the corresponding CLI-RSSI of any of the individual receiver branches.

[0082] For CLI-RSSI the UE is configured with a set of continuous resources in which it is expected to measure. The configuration of the resources is as follows:

[0083] So essentially, the UE is configured based on a start PRB, a number of PRBs (i.e. the bandwidth of the measurements) , and the number of symbols that spans the measurements. The present disclosure is focusing on efficient reporting by mini-subband aggregation.

[0084] Reference is now made to FIG. 2C, which illustrates an example CLI-RSSI measurements 200C in SBFD.

[0085] Assume that a set of UEs are configured to measured CLI-RSSI over the entire UL subband as depicted in FIG. 2C. In this example, UE1, UE2 and UE3 are transmitting in UL while UE4, UE5 and UE6 are measuring CLI-RSSI. Even though, each of the measuring UEs experiences different UE-to-UE CLI conditions depending on its proximity to each of the aggressor UEs (UE1, UE2, and UE3) , the wideband CLI-RSSI results in similar value for all of them. The reason is the linear average performed over the CLI-RSSI resources.

[0086] Measuring and reporting the CLI-RSSI following legacy operation implies that the gNB is unaware of the frequency dependency of the CLI and it is not able to distinguish precisely which UE generates more CLI to a given UE.

[0087] According to the present disclosure, a solution for measuring the CLI-RSSI is proposed, such that the UE provides more information to the gNB of the frequency dependency of the CLI. Moreover, the present solution may reduce the reporting overhead as compared to other options (e.g. configure CLI-RSSI resources with smaller bandwidth) .

[0088] Work Principle and Example Signalling for Communication

[0089] According to some example embodiments of the present disclosure, there is provided a solution or measuring and reporting measurement report.

[0090] Reference is now made to FIG. 3, which illustrates blocks of CLI-RSSI measurement resource 300 in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. Further, sub-figure (A) in FIG. 3 illustrates CLI-RSSI measurement resource configuration 310, sub-figure (B) in FIG. 3 illustrates CLI-RSSI measurement resource configuration with mini-subband 320-1, 320-2 and other mini-subbands ( ‘mini-subband’ is only used for simplicity and to avoid confusion with the concept of subband in SBFD, and thus should not be interpreted as any limitations to the present discourse) , and sub- figure (C) in FIG. 3 illustrates CLI-RSSI measurement resource configuration with mini-subband and CLI aggregation results 330-1, 330-2 and other aggregation results.

[0091] In operation, the gNB configures the UE with a wideband CLI-RSSI resource (such as, the measurement resource configuration 410) by defining a start RB, a bandwidth in term of RBs, and a number of symbols.

[0092] In some embodiment, the gNB configures some parameters that indicates the UE about the mini-subband configuration. One example parameter is the minimum size of the measuring subband. Another example parameter may be the maximum variability of the CLI-RSSI, this will be used for the UE when performing the measurements discussed herein.

[0093] It should be understood that other parameters also may be used for indicating the mini-subband configuration, such as, the start RB of the mini-subbands, the number of the mini-subbands and so on. The present disclosure is not limited in this regard.

[0094] As for the UE, the UE may use the wideband and / or mini-subband configuration to determine the mini-subbands to be measured, and then measure and report related measurement results. As one example, the UE uses the wideband CLI-RSSI resource to determine the resources that are going to be used for the measurements. Then, the UE starts measuring the CLI-RSSI on the start PRB (or start RB) using a mini-subband of size equal to the minimum size configured by the gNB. The UE adds new resources into the CLI-RSSI calculation and checks whether the new CLI-RSSI is within the range configured by the maximum variability of the CLI-RSSI ‘x’ . If the new CLI-RSSI is within [CLI-RSSI –x, CLI-RSSI + x] or [CLI-RSSI –x / 2, CLI-RSSI + x / 2] , where x the maximum variability, the UE increases the mini subband size and keeps measuring using the initial mini-subband as reference. Otherwise, the UE considers that the CLI change is relevant for the gNB to know and therefore starts a new mini-subband and performs and an independent measurement. Then, UE reports the measured CLI-RSSI and the size of the corresponding mini-subband size.

[0095] In addition to the maximum variability, the gNB also may explicitly indicate the aggregation of mini-subbands for dynamic measurements and reporting, such as, by a mini-subband bitmap. E.g., get a single-time wideband CLI-RSSI by aggregating all the configured mini-subbands.

[0096] Alternatively, the UE also may indicate the mini-subband bitmap to gNB about the mini-subband combine rule.

[0097] In this way, the new measurement and reporting scheme gives information about the frequency distribution of the CLI. Further, the UE autonomously “decides” how large should the measuring band be according to its specific CLI conditions. As for the gNB, the gNB is also in control of how much details of the CLI it needs. A rough estimate of the CLI can be obtained by configuring a large mini-subband size and / or a high CLI variability. On the other hand, a detailed CLI report is achieved with small mini-subband size and / or low CLI variability. As a result, the overhead in the reporting is reduced since the UE is able to combine one or more mini-subbands if it knows that the CLI has not changed drastically.

[0098] Reference is now made to FIG. 4, which illustrates a signalling flow 400 of communication in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purposes of discussion, the signalling flow 400 will be discussed with reference to FIGS. 1A to 1C, for example, by using the first apparatus 110 and the second apparatus 120.

[0099] It is to be understood that the operations at the first apparatus 110 and the second apparatus 120 should be coordinated. In other words, the second apparatus 120 and the first apparatus 110 should have common understanding about configurations, parameters and so on. Such common understanding may be implemented by any suitable interactions between the second apparatus 120 and the first apparatus or both the second apparatus 120 and the first apparatus 110 applying the same rule / policy.

[0100] In the following, although some operations are described from a perspective of the first apparatus, it is to be understood that the corresponding operations should be performed by the second apparatus 120. Similarly, although some operations are described from a perspective of the second apparatus 120, it is to be understood that the corresponding operations should be performed by the first apparatus. Merely for brevity, some of the same or similar contents are omitted here.

[0101] In addition, in the following description, examples of signalling type (such as “RRC signalling” , “MAC CE” , “DCI” , “uplink control information, UCI” ) are only for the purpose of illustration without suggesting any limitations. In other example embodiments, any suitable message types may be used for the interaction between the first apparatus 110 and the second apparatus 120.

[0102] Merely for a better understanding, in the example of FIG. 4, the first apparatus 110 may be operated as a terminal apparatus and the second apparatus 120 may be operated as a network apparatus.

[0103] In some embodiments, the device-to-device cross-link interference is a UE-to-UE cross-link interference.

[0104] In some embodiments, the device-to-device cross-link interference is a cross-link interference received signal strength indicator (CLI-RSSI) in Sub-band full duplex (SBFD) .

[0105] In operation, the first apparatus 110 receives 410 a configuration from a second apparatus 120, where the configuration indicates a first size for a part of a subband (i.e., a mini-subband discussed herein) and aggregation information (such as, the maximum variability, or an explicit indication for aggregating the measurements results) for the subband.

[0106] With the configuration, the first apparatus 110 performs 420 measurements of device-to-device cross-link interference related to a first part of the subband and a second part of the subband, where the second part is adjacent to the first part. It should be understood that there may be more parts to be measured, such as, a third part, a fourth part and so on.

[0107] Based on the measurements, the first size and the aggregation information, the first apparatus 110 performs 430 an aggregation of the first part and the second part. In some embodiments, the first part and the second part may be aggregated. Alternatively, the first part and the second part may be not aggregated.

[0108] After the aggregation, the first apparatus 110 transmits 440 a measurement report at least based on a result of the aggregation to the second apparatus 120.

[0109] In some embodiments, the configuration further indicates at least one of:

[0110] ● a start resource block of a band,

[0111] ● a bandwidth of the band in term of resource blocks,

[0112] ● a number of symbols of the band, or

[0113] ● a number of parts of a subband.

[0114] In some embodiments, the first apparatus 110 may determine a number of parts of the subband to be measured based on the bandwidth and the first size.

[0115] It should be understood, the configuration information may comprise other parameters according to the specific scenario. The present disclosure is not limited in this regard.

[0116] In the following, the variability-based aggregation will be discussed first. Specifically, the aggregation information may comprise a variability (i.e., the maximum variability) .

[0117] In some embodiments, the first apparatus 110 may determine, from the measurements of device-to-device cross-link interference, a first interference strength on the first part of the subband. Then, the first apparatus 110 may determine a second interference strength on a second part of the subband from the measurements of device-to-device cross-link interference, where a size of the second part of the subband is equal to the first size. Alternatively, the first apparatus 110 may determine an aggregated part of the subband from the measurements of device-to-device cross-link interference, where the aggregated part of the subband is obtained by aggregating the first part and the second part of the subband. After that, the first apparatus 110 may determine a size of the first part of the subband based on the first interference strength, the second interference strength and the variability.

[0118] In some embodiments, if the second interference strength is beyond a range determined based on the first interference strength and the variability, the first apparatus 110 may determine that the size of the first part of the subband is unchanged. That is, the first part and the second part may be not aggregated. Accordingly, if the second interference strength is within the range, the first apparatus 110 may determine the first part of the subband as the aggregated part of the subband, and may increase the size of the first part of the subband by the size of the second part of the subband. That is, the first part and the second part may be aggregated.

[0119] In some embodiments, if the second interference strength is beyond a range determined based on the first interference strength and the variability, the first apparatus 110 may determine the first interference strength of the first part of the subband is to be comprised in the measurement report. That is, the first part and the second part may be not aggregated.

[0120] Accordingly, if the second interference strength is within the range, the first apparatus 110 may determine that the second interference strength of the second part of the subband is not to be comprised in the measurement report. That is, the first part and the second part may be aggregated.

[0121] In some embodiments, a measurement report comprises at least one of:

[0122] ● a start position of the first part of the subband, such as, the first index of mini-subband associated with the accumulated CLI-RSSI;

[0123] ● a size of the first part of the subband, such as, the number of mini-subbands associated with the accumulated CLI-RSSI, or

[0124] ● a corresponding interference strength of the first part of the subband, or an accumulated interference strength.

[0125] Additionally, in some embodiments, the start position and the size may be indicated by a bitmap.

[0126] In the following, embodiments where the aggregation is performed based on an NW explicit indication will be discussed. Specifically, the aggregation information may comprise a bitmap associated with an aggregation rule. In this event, the first apparatus 110 may perform the aggregation based on the bitmap, where each bit of the bitmap indicating whether a corresponding part of the subband is to be aggregated.

[0127] Additionally, in some embodiments, the first apparatus 110 may receive an indication from the second apparatus 120, where the indication indicates a time duration during which the first apparatus 110 is to apply the aggregation rule.

[0128] Alternatively, the first apparatus 110 also may indicate the mini-subband bitmap about the mini-subband combine rule to the second apparatus 120. In some embodiments, the first apparatus 110 may transmit information about an aggregation rule applied at the first apparatus 110 to the second apparatus 120, such as, a bitmap.

[0129] Embodiments

[0130] For a better understanding, further example embodiments will be described with reference to FIGS. 5 to 8.

[0131] In operation, the gNB may transmit resource configuration to the UE. Accordingly, UE may receive resource configuration from gNB. The resource configuration may indicate SBFD-related information. As one example embodiment, the configuration information may indicate at least one of the following:

[0132] ● a frequency band;

[0133] ● a number of slots / symbols wherein the frequency band is split into multiple subbands and wherein at least one subband is used for DL transmissions and at least one subband is used for UL transmissions, i.e., SBFD slots / symbols, and locations of the number of slots / symbols in a radio frame;

[0134] ● a number of slots / symbols wherein the entire frequency band is used for DL transmissions or UL transmissions, i.e., non-SBFD slots / symbols, and locations of the number of slots / symbols in a radio frame;

[0135] ● a wideband CLI-RSSI resource by defining a start RB, a bandwidth in term of RBs, and a number of symbols.

[0136] In addition to the above information, other parameter also may be configured by the gNB according to different embodiments, which will be discussed separately.

[0137] The maximum variability-based embodiments will be discussed first. In these embodiments, the gNB may further configure below parameters:

[0138] ● the minimum size of the measuring subband in the frequency domain [e.g., in RBs] . We denote this a mini-subband for simplicity and to avoid confusion with the concept of subband in SBFD. Then, based on the bandwidth and mini-subband size, the UE can derive the (maximum) number of mini-subbands that needs to measure and report, or

[0139] ● the maximum variability of the CLI-RSSI [in dB] . This parameter is used by the UE when performing the new measurements and decide whether 2 or more mini-subbands can be combined.

[0140] In some embodiments, the SBFD-aware UEs may start to measure mini-subband CLI-RSSI based on the NW configuration.

[0141] In some embodiments, the UE may perform the first CLI-RSSI measurement over the initial mini-subband (defined by the start PRB of the wideband CLI-RSSI  measurement resource) , where the measurement result is denoted as “CLI_RSSI_A” for explanatory purposes.

[0142] Next, the UE may increase the size of the mini-subband by adding new resources (i.e., by adding the RB size of the new mini-subband) and calculates the new CLI_RSSI where the measurement result is denoted as “CLI_RSSI_B” for explanatory purposes. The UE checks whether this new CLI-RSSI measurement is within the range configured by the maximum variability of the CLI-RSSI.

[0143] Specifically, if CLI_RSSI_B is within [CLI-RSSI_A–x, CLI-RSSI_A+ x] , or within [CLI-RSSI_A–x / 2, CLI-RSSI_A+ x / 2] , where “x” is the maximum variability, the UE increases the mini subband size and keeps measuring using the initial mini-subband as reference. In other words, a mini-subband aggregation between the initial mini-subband and the next mini-subband is successful. The measurement CLI_RSSI_A will be used to determine if the mini-subband size can be further increased in next iterations. Otherwise, the UE considers that the change on the CLI is relevant for the gNB to know and therefore starts a new mini-subband and performs an independent measurement.

[0144] In some embodiments, SBFD-aware UEs may start to report mini-subband CLI-RSSI.

[0145] In some embodiments, the reporting of the mini-subbands CLI-RSSI may be done by indicating to the gNB the mini-subband ID together with the measured CLI-RSSI. The UE may only report the mini-subband IDs corresponding to the independent measurements. The gNB may assume that the missing mini-subband IDs are not reported due to low variability of the CLI. The gNB may know in advance the number of mini-subbands and its IDs (where the first mini-subband may assumed to have ID #0) , since it has previously configured the CLI-RSSI wideband measurement resource and the mini-subband size in frequency. The UE may be configured to report the CLI-RSSI value of the first mini-subband of the mini-subband aggregation or it may report the lastly calculated CLI-RSSI value of the mini-subband aggregation.

[0146] Alternatively, in some embodiments, the UE may simply measure the CLI-RSSI in each of the initially configured mini-subbands and only report the CLI for those mini-subbands that fulfil the CLI variability condition. If the CLI-RSSI measured in mini-subband #A is denoted as CLI_RSSI_A and the CLI-RSSI measured in the adjacent mini- subband (or mini-subband #C) is denoted as CLI_RSSI_C, CLI_RSSI_C is reported if CLI_RSSI_C is within of the range of [CLI-RSSI_A–x, CLI-RSSI_A+ x] , or within [CLI-RSSI_A–x / 2, CLI-RSSI_A+ x / 2] .

[0147] Reference is now made to FIG. 5, which illustrates an example of mini-subband aggregation 500. In the example of FIG. 5,

[0148] ● SBFD UL subband size: 50 RBs,

[0149] ● CLI-RSSI wideband: 50 RBs (overlapping with UL subband) ,

[0150] ● mini-subband size: 10 RBs,

[0151] ● CLI-RSSI variability: 3 dB.

[0152] Further, the measured CLI-RSSI per mini-subband = [-75 dBm, -77 dBm, -90 dBm, -95 dBm, -110 dBm] . In this specific example, the measured CLI-RSSI after aggregation = [-75.9 dBm, -91.8 dBm, -110 dBm] , where -75.9 dBm is corresponding to mini-subbands #0 and #1, -91.8 dBm is corresponding to mini-subbands #2 and #3, and -110 dBm is corresponding to mini-subband #4.

[0153] One example reporting may be: CLI_Resources_IDs = [0, 2, 4] (or may be a bitmap of [1, 1, 0, 0, 1] , or [0, 0, 1, 1, 0] ) , and CLI_Resources_power = [-75.9 dBm, -91.8 dBm, -110 dBm] , where 0 / 2 / 4 is the ID of the first the mini-subband associated with the aggregation result -75.9 dBm / -91.8 dBm / -110 dBm. This example reporting is reported if the accumulated CLI-RSSI is configured to be reported.

[0154] Another example reporting may be: CLI_Resources_IDs = [0, 2, 4] (or may be a bitmap of [1, 1, 0, 0, 1] , or [0, 0, 1, 1, 0] ) , and CLI_Resources_power = [-75 dBm, -90 dBm, -110 dBm] . This example reporting is reported if the accumulated CLI-RSSI is configured to be reported.

[0155] Alternatively, the gNB may configure an explicit indication for aggregating the measurements results on the mini-subband as discussed below.

[0156] In some embodiments, the gNB may control the measurement and reporting of the mini-subband CLI-RSSI in certain occasions. In such case, the gNB may indicate via a bitmap which of the mini-subbands is to be aggregated. For instance, “1” indicates that the mini-subband may be aggregated and “0” indicates independent mini-subband measurement. The size of the bitmap may be equal to the size of mini-subbands, and the  UE may assume that the adjacent mini-subbands indicated with “1” are to be combined. In this implementation, the variability of the CLI parameter may be not used.

[0157] Examples of this indication may be shown in FIG. 6, which illustrates example CLI-RSSI measurement resource aggregation rules. In the sub-figure (A) of FIG. 6, the gNB indicates that each of the configured mini-subbands may be measured and reported individually. In contrast, in the sub-figure (B) of FIG. 6, the gNB indicates that all the mini-subbands shall be combined to form a wideband measurement. In the sub-figure (C) of FIG. 6, the gNB indicates the combination of some of the mini-subbands, while others are measured individually.

[0158] In some embodiments, this explicit indication may additionally trigger a new timer (e.g. RRC timer) that defines for how long the UE shall apply the received aggregation rule. Once, the timer may expire the UE returns to the default configuration and individually measures the mini-subbands and / or use mini-subband aggregation based on the CLI variability. The termination of the timer (initiated by the gNB or UE) may also be considered. For instance, the gNB may terminate the timer is a low Channel Quality Indicator (CQI) is reported by the UE, or the UE may terminate the timer if a high number of DL transport block are being decoded incorrectly.

[0159] Alternatively, in some embodiments, the UE may also be configured to interpret “0” and “1” as different mini-subbands aggregation. Thus, the consecutive subbands may indicate with “0” are aggregated and, similarly for the consecutive mini-subbands indicated with “1” . Reference is now made to FIG. 7, which illustrates an example CLI-RSSI measurement resource aggregation rule 700.

[0160] Additionally, the UE may transmit the mini-subbands aggregation rule to the gNB, and the gNB may configure related measurement resources and reporting resources. With the configuration information, the UE may perform related measurements and report related results.

[0161] In some embodiments, the gNB may provide a Boolean parameter to indicate how to interpret the "0" s of the bitmap. Either to indicate single mini subband measurements or mini subbands aggregation.

[0162] In some embodiments, the mini-subband CLI-RSSI measurement and report rule change also may be controlled by UE. That mean UE may check the CLI-RSSI range and  indicate the bitmap to gNB, then report CLI-RSSI based on the bitmap indicate.

[0163] Reference is now made to FIG. 8, which illustrates an example flowchart of the mini-subband aggregation for CLI-RSSI measurements.

[0164] At block 810, the network configures CLI-RSSI wideband measurement resources. At block 820, network configures CLI-RSSI the mini-subband size and the CLI-RSSI variability.

[0165] At block 830, UE measured the CLI-RSSI over a mini-subband, and at block 840, UE aggregates the next mini-subband and measures the new CLI-RSSI over the mini-subband aggregates. Specifically, if new CLI-RSSI is within the variability limits, at block 850, UE continue with the mini-subband aggregation. Else, if new CLI-RSSI is out the variability limits, at block 860, UE removes the last aggregated mini-subband and terminate the current mini-subband aggregation.

[0166] Example method

[0167] FIG. 9 shows a flowchart of an example method 900 implemented at a first device in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purpose of discussion, the method 900 will be described from the perspective of the first apparatus 110 in FIG. 1A.

[0168] At block 910, the first apparatus receives, from a second apparatus, a configuration indicating a first size for a part of a subband and aggregation information for the subband.

[0169] At block 920, the first apparatus performs measurements of device-to-device cross-link interference related to a first part of the subband and a second part of the subband, the second part being adjacent to the first part.

[0170] At block 930, the first apparatus performs an aggregation of the first part and the second part based on the measurements of device-to-device cross-link interference, the first size and the aggregation information.

[0171] At block 940, the first apparatus transmits, to the second apparatus, a measurement report at least based on a result of the aggregation.

[0172] In some example embodiments, the first apparatus may determine, from the measurements of device-to-device cross-link interference, a first interference strength on  the first part of the subband; determining, from the measurements of device-to-device cross-link interference, a second interference strength on a second part of the subband or an aggregated part of the subband, the aggregated part of the subband being obtained by aggregating the first part and the second part of the subband, a size of the second part of the subband being equal to the first size; and may determine a size of the first part of the subband based on the first interference strength, the second interference strength and the variability.

[0173] In some example embodiments, in accordance with a determination that the second interference strength is beyond a range determined based on the first interference strength and the variability, the first apparatus may determine that the size of the first part of the subband is unchanged; and in accordance with a determination that the second interference strength is within the range, the first apparatus may determine the first part of the subband as the aggregated part of the subband, and increasing the size of the first part of the subband by the size of the second part of the subband.

[0174] In some example embodiments, in accordance with a determination that the second interference strength is beyond a range determined based on the first interference strength and the variability, the first apparatus may determine the first interference strength of the first part of the subband is to be comprised in the measurement report; and in accordance with a determination that the second interference strength is within the range, the first apparatus may determine that the second interference strength of the second part of the subband is not to be comprised in the measurement report.

[0175] In some example embodiments, a measurement report comprises at least one of: a start position of the first part of the subband, a size of the first part of the subband, or a corresponding interference strength of the first part of the subband.

[0176] In some example embodiments, the start position and the size are indicated by a bitmap.

[0177] In some example embodiments, the first apparatus may perform the aggregation based on the bitmap, each bit of the bitmap indicating whether a corresponding part of the subband is to be aggregated.

[0178] In some example embodiments, the first apparatus may receive, from the second apparatus, an indication indicating a time duration during which the first apparatus is to  apply the aggregation rule.

[0179] In some example embodiments, the first apparatus may transmit to the second apparatus, information about an aggregation rule applied at the first apparatus.

[0180] In some example embodiments, the configuration further indicates at least one of: a start resource block of a band, a bandwidth of the band in term of resource blocks, a number of symbols of the band, or a number of parts of a subband.

[0181] In some example embodiments the first apparatus may determine a number of parts of the subband to be measured based on the bandwidth and the first size.

[0182] In some embodiments, the device-to-device cross-link interference is a UE-to-UE cross-link interference.

[0183] In some embodiments, the device-to-device cross-link interference is a cross-link interference received signal strength indicator (CLI-RSSI) in Sub-band full duplex (SBFD) .

[0184] In some example embodiments, the first apparatus comprises a terminal device, and the second apparatus comprises a network device.

[0185] FIG. 10 shows a flowchart of an example method 1000 implemented at a second device in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purpose of discussion, the method 1000 will be described from the perspective of the second apparatus 120 in FIG. 1A.

[0186] At block 1010, the second apparatus transmits, to a first apparatus, a configuration indicating a first size for a part of a subband and aggregation information for the subband.
