Abstract
Description
[0001] BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION The invention relates to the field of sexual health and prevention, serving as a protective device, against the spread of potential sexually transmitted infections (STIs) or sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) when used correctly and consistently; essentially acting as a barrier between unknown or potentially infected lips, genitals, anus, body parts, devices, or other, as a result of contact during kissing, intimacy, intercourse, or other exposure that may result in a person’s lips becoming exposed to STIs, STDs or the like. The invention also relates to the field of mental health and preservation, as a person may experience anxiety, stress, or other mental concerns caused by fear, as one may be desirous of contact or carrying out certain acts but hesitant due to xenophobia, stereotypes, stigmas, or past, present, or potential negative experiences. Everyone is aware of practicing “safe sex,” which the lack thereof can result in pregnancy, HIV, STIs, STDs, and the like, but not much emphasis is placed on protecting the lips as a practice of prevention and protection. Yet, an infection to the lips can cause major temporary and / or long-term implications that can require days or weeks of medication and / or periods of abstinence from intimacy. This invention differs from what currently exists in function. Current devices are not intended specifically for lips and / or limit functionality. Therefore, a preventative product that is adhered directly onto the upper and lower lips as a protective barrier can provide added physical and mental security and ease concerns that may limit enjoyment due to fear, or ambiguous status of a potential partner.
[0002] SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION Manufacturing may be accomplished by combining latex, elastomer, hydrocolloid and / or other durable, waterproof, elastic material, practical for sexual intimacy, enduring a reasonable amount of exposure without drying out, and molding the finished product into the shape of an average person’s upper and lower lips. The back side of the invention provides adhesive to aid in the device remaining in place, and the invention provides an opening wide and flexible enough to allow for french kissing and oral sex without the need to be removed from the lips. The upper and lower lips may be molded as two separate pieces to be placed on each lip separately yet packaged together. One skilled in the art of molding and / or manufacturing may realize other methods. Color and / or artwork may be added using rubber stamps, silk screening, or other suitable methods. Flavored lubricant may be provided by adding glucose or glycerin (glycerol) to the lube, or other suitable methods. Depending on the shape or size of a person’s lips, the product can be placed directly onto the lips or extend onto the immediate outer skin of the upper, lower and / or surrounding lips for added coverage. The product will be packaged as a full set of both an upper and lower lip. However, the finished product should be flexible enough to possibly be cut to accommodate various lip shapes and sizes. In addition to serving as a preventative and protective device for the lips, the invention may be used as a fashionably trendy cosmetic cover for the lips, namely if symptoms of STIs such as herpes may exist, cold sores, acne, cleft lip, or other lip distortions, or to ease concerns, stereotypes, stigmas, or uncomfortableness while in public or intimate settings, or for sanitary purposes, or as a party favor.
[0003] BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING FIGURES FIG. 1 shows a perspective view of the lip protection device and illustrates the present invention, with the product extended to the outer parts of the upper, left, lower, and right parts of the lips; FIG. 2 illustrates adhesive on the back side of the invention and the peel away process.
[0004] DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION Looking at FIG. 1, it can be seen that the invention may extend to the corners or outer conformity of a user's mouth 1, and shows a lip shaped protective invention in blue color covering both the upper and the lower lips 2, which completes the lip protection invention. FIG. 2 illustrates adhesive on a back side view73, and illustrates the peel away process 4, of how the invention is to be removed from the backing in order to be attached to the lips; however, one skilled in molding and / or manufacturing may realize other methods.
