[0001] MIDSOLE / INSOLE FOR SHOES

[0002] The present invention relates to a midsole / insole for shoes, particularly, but not exclusively, for sports shoes such as running shoes, tennis shoes, football boots, and / or leisure and / or safety shoes.

[0003] Nowadays the use is widespread of midsoles or insoles for shoes, of generally contained thickness, made of elastically deformable material in order to:

[0004] - adapt / conform anatomically to the foot of the user as a function of the configurations that the foot assumes when walking or running,

[0005] - act as a shock absorber for the foot.

[0006] Midsoles / insoles, in fact, must be capable of adequately decreasing the excessive load in the impact region of the foot with respect to the ground, and elastically return part of the energy received during the normal heel-toe stride, while simultaneously decreasing muscular stress and loads to the detriment of the muscular- skeletal apparatus.

[0007] To meet such needs, midsoles or insoles are used whose principal functions are, therefore, the absorption of impact during the normal heel-toe stride, elastic yield for transferring loads from the heel to the toes, and flexibility for the thrust phase.

[0008] Such midsoles or insoles are made, for example, of expanded polyurethane (EP) or of ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) and have a single rigidity level over the entire length of the midsole / insole, from the heel to the toes.

[0009] A drawback that is found in the cited known art consists in that the midsole made of EVA or of EP adapts slowly to the shape of the sole of the foot of the user, and therefore it is not capable of ensuring an adequate anatomical adaptation during use, rendering the shoe rather uncomfortable.

[0026] In fact, the presence of protrusions on substantially all of the sole, although providing considerable cushioning and limiting overpronation of the foot, partly reduces propulsion in the thrust phase of the foot with a consequent dissipation of muscular energy.

[0027] The aim of the present invention is to provide a midsole / insole for shoes that is capable of improving the known art in one or more of the above mentioned aspects.

[0028] Within this aim, an object of the invention is to provide a midsole / insole for shoes that enables considerable comfort for the user while improving propulsion in the thrust phase of the foot with respect to similar, conventional midsoles / insoles.

A midsole / insole (10) for shoes, comprising a body (11), contoured to contain the sole of a foot (F) of a user, said body (11) having an upper surface (12) which has a footbed-like shape and a lower surface (13), opposite the previous one, said body (11) having a plurality of regions (16, 21, 27) adapted to correspond to regions and / or bones of said foot (F), said regions (16, 21, 27) of said body (11) comprising, in order, at least:- a heel region (16),- a tarsal region (21) comprising, in turn, a cuboid sub-region (25) and a third cuneiform sub-region (26), said cuboid sub-region (25) and said third cuneiform sub-region (26) being adjacent to a metatarsal region (27),- said metatarsal region (27) comprising in turn a first metatarsal subregion (19'), a second metatarsal and third metatarsal sub-region (19"), a fourth metatarsal sub-region (17") and a fifth metatarsal sub-region (17'), said midsole / insole (10) being characterized in that said lower surface (13) has:- a first portion (14) comprising a plurality of protrusions (15), said first portion (14) extending at least in a part of said heel region (16) and of said fifth metatarsal sub-region (17'),- a second portion (18) made of solid / continuous material, said second portion (18) extending at least in said first metatarsal sub-region (19').

2. The midsole / insole (10) according to claim 1, characterized in that said first portion (14) extends substantially from said heel region (16) to said fifth metatarsal sub-region (17'), said first portion (14) passing through said tarsal region (21) at least partially.

3. The midsole / insole (10) according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said first portion (14) is defined in a corresponding seat (20) within said second portion (18) which surrounds it entirely.

The midsole / insole (10) according to one or more of the precedingclaims, characterized in that said protrusions (15) have a substantially frustum-like and / or truncated pyramid-like shape, with:- the larger end face directed, in the configuration for use, towards said foot (F),- the smaller end face (24) directed, in the configuration for use, towards the ground.

The midsole / insole (10) according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said protrusions (15) are elastically compressible and have each a blind axial cavity (22) extending from a corresponding hole (23) on said upper surface (12), said upper surface (12) having a plurality of holes (23), each of said holes (23) communicating with a respective axial cavity (22), said axial cavity (22) ending proximate to said smaller end face (24) of a respective one of said protrusions (15).

6. The midsole / insole (10) according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said holes (23) have a variable diameter depending on the region of said upper surface (12) in which they are arranged, said holes (23) having a diameter comprised between 1 mm and 11 mm.

The midsole / insole (10) according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said holes (23) have:- a diameter that has a variable trend and is substantially comprised between 4 mm and 11 mm in said heel region (16) and in said fifth metatarsal sub-region (17'),- a diameter that is substantially constant in said tarsal region (21) and is comprised between 1 mm and 6 mm, at least at the part primarily affecting said cuboid sub-region (25) and / or said third cuneiform sub-region (26).

8. The midsole / insole (10) according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said protrusions (15) have volumes which have a variable trend.

The midsole / insole (10) according to one or more of the precedingclaims, characterized in that said protrusions (15) have:- volumes that have a variable trend in said heel region (16) and in said fifth metatarsal sub-region (17'),- a substantially constant volume in said tarsal region (21), at least at the part primarily affecting said cuboid sub-region (25) and / or said third cuneiform sub-region (26), said protrusions (15) of said heel region (16) and of said fifth metatarsal sub-region (17') having a greater volume than the protrusions (15) of said tarsal region (21), at least at said cuboid sub-region(25) and / or at said third cuneiform sub-region (26).

10. The midsole / insole (10) according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said protrusions (15) have a height with a variable trend and substantially comprised between 3 mm and 13 mm.

The midsole / insole (10) according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said protrusions (15) have:- a height that has a variable trend in said heel region (16) and in said fifth metatarsal sub-region (17') and is substantially comprised: between 5 mm and 13 mm in said heel region (16) and between 3 mm and 10 mm in said fifth metatarsal region (17'),- a height that is substantially constant in said tarsal region (21) at least at the part primarily affecting said cuboid sub-region (25) and / or said third cuneiform sub-region (26) and is comprised between 2 mm and 10 mm.

The midsole / insole (10) according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said protrusions (15) of said heel region (16) and of said fifth metatarsal sub-region (17') have a greater height than the protrusions (15) of said tarsal region (21), at least at the part primarily affecting said cuboid sub-region (25) and / or said third cuneiform sub-region(26).

The midsole / insole (10) according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said protrusions (15) have:- a smaller end face (24) having a variable trend in said heel region (16) and in said fifth metatarsal sub-region (17'), and comprised substantially between 19 mm2and 132 mm2,- a smaller end face (24) which is substantially constant in said tarsal region (21) at least at the part primarily affecting said cuboid sub-region(25) and / or said third cuneiform sub-region (26), and comprised substantially between 0.8 mm2and 29 mm2.

The midsole / insole (10) according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said protrusions (15) of said heel region (16) and of said fifth metatarsal sub-region (17') have said smaller end face (24) with larger dimensions than the protrusions (15) of said tarsal region (21), at least at said cuboid sub-region (25) and / or at said third cuneiform sub-region(26).

15. The midsole / insole (10) according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that it is made of a material that has a density comprised between 0.07 and 0.14 g / cm3and a hardness comprised between 30 Shore C and 60 Shore C.

16. The midsole / insole (10) according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that said material is constituted by, or is based on, polymeric material expanded with supercritical foaming technology.
