Abstract
Description
[0001] Dishwasher loading tray and dishwasher
[0002] The present invention relates to a dishwashing tray, in particular a cutlery drawer, for a dishwasher. The present invention also relates to a household dishwasher which has such a dishwashing tray.
[0003] Publication WO 2024 / 002729 A1 discloses a cutlery drawer with two rows of cams for the individual storage of cutlery pieces. A support element has cams from both rows and is mounted to rotate perpendicular to one extension direction.
[0004] The publication DE 10 2011 080 698 A1 discloses a dishwashing carrier in which hinged and fixed holding means are arranged in alternating sequence.
[0005] Document US 2012 / 0298155 A1 discloses a cutlery drawer with a wire basket design in which an additional wire basket insert is movable. The two wire baskets are connected to each other by several, for example four, parallel coupling parts, which limit the movement of the wire basket insert to a distance between retaining pins and by exerting a frictional force.
[0006] German patent application DE 31 30 627 A1 discloses a dish rack with at least one additional rack that can be inserted into a base rack. The additional rack has a frame with retaining pins and a slide with retaining pins. The slide is slidable and lockable against the frame. In one end position of the slide, the retaining pins of the frame and the retaining pins of the slide are aligned, and in the other end position, they are offset by half a gap width. The frame carries a spring-loaded locking bar with a locking lug between longitudinal bars, allowing a crossbar of the slide to be engaged so that the slide can be locked in both end positions.
[0007] Against this background, an object of the present invention is to provide an easy-to-use and adjustable dishware fixation device. Accordingly, a dishware holder for a dishwasher is proposed. The dishwasher is preferably a household dishwasher. The proposed dishware holder is preferably a cutlery drawer. The dishware holder has a base body and an insert. The base body has at least one row of cams and at least two parallel rail sections along the at least one row of cams. The row of cams is suitable for fixing dishware during a wash cycle. The insert is inserted into the base body between the rail sections in an insertion direction and has at least one row of cams. The insert is movable or adjustable along the rail sections to create an offset between the at least one row of cams on the base body and the at least one row of cams on the insert. The insert has at least one retaining section. This retaining section engages behind one of the rail sections in the opposite direction to the insertion direction.
[0008] In this way, the retaining section creates a positive fit behind one of the rail sections. This prevents the insert from being removed in the opposite direction to its insertion. The insert can therefore be easily inserted into the base body in the correct direction and is then secured against being pulled out. This makes the insert easy to handle for the user, even in everyday use.
[0009] The at least one row of cams on the insert is preferably parallel to the at least one row of cams on the base. This facilitates the even placement of dishes or cutlery across the entire row of cams. Alternatively, the at least one row of cams on the insert may run at an angle to the at least one row of cams on the base. This allows the offset and spacing between the rows of cams to be adjusted by sliding the insert.
[0010] Preferably, each row of cams on the insert is adjacent to each row of cams on the base body. In particular, the cam feet of the insert's cam row and the cam feet of the base body's cam row are adjacent to each other. This can, for example, facilitate insertion in a transverse direction, i.e., perpendicular to the insertion direction.
[0011] Several cam designs are conceivable. For example, the cams can be designed as directed spikes that run obliquely to the pull-out plane of the dish holder. Directed spikes are advantageous for picking up large dishes, such as plates. Preferably, the cams can be designed as upright projections that run perpendicular to the pull-out plane of the dish holder. For example, the cams can have a rotationally symmetrical cross-section, such as a conical segment or a truncated cone segment. Alternatively or additionally, the cams can have a polygonal cross-section, such as a prism segment, a pyramid segment, or a truncated pyramid segment.
[0012] The retaining section is preferably designed to rest against the rail section. The retaining section is preferably designed to slide along the rail section. The rail section has, for example, a bearing surface that points upwards and / or obliquely upwards in an operational orientation and supports the insert, as well as a contact surface that points downwards and / or obliquely downwards against which the retaining section rests or along which it can slide.
[0013] In the following, an operating position means that the dishwashing tray is inserted into a dishwasher as intended or ready for operation, and that the tray is inserted into the base body.
[0014] Terms like "top" and "bottom" refer to the operating position or the intended or operational orientation of the insert. In case of doubt, the insertion direction of the insert into the base body, when the insert is in the operating position of the dish loading area in a dishwasher, is from top to bottom, or corresponds to a top-to-bottom direction.
[0015] Preferably, the holding section or the entire insert is dimensioned so that, in an operating position, the holding section engages the rail section with clearance. For example, when the insert or a frame of the insert rests against the rail section, and in particular against the bearing surfaces of the rail section, or slides against it, the holding section is spaced a certain distance away from the rail section and especially from the holding surface of the rail section. Thus, the holding section is load-free in operation, which improves the durability of the insert and the entire cleaning system.
[0016] The insert, including at least one retaining section, may be a single piece. A single-piece insert can be understood as a one-piece, pre-molded insert. A single-piece insert has the advantage of being easy to handle. Preferably, the insert is an injection-molded part. These options and advantages also apply to the base body.
[0017] The insert may have a frame. At least one retaining section is attached to this frame. The frame can, for example, act as a supporting structure for the insert. Several designs featuring a frame are presented below; these designs are independent of each other but can be combined. The frame is preferably designed as a grid frame to allow for good drainage of liquids.
[0018] The retaining section may be coupled to the frame by means of a spring mechanism. Alternatively, each insert may have a spring mechanism positioned between the frame and the respective retaining section. This spring mechanism is preferably designed to allow the retaining section to yield to the respective rail section during insertion into the base body. This facilitates tool-free insertion of the insert into the base body, thus simplifying handling during assembly.
[0019] The spring mechanism can be designed or configured, for example, as a bending spring and / or a torsion spring. These designs are characterized by a high spring travel compared to a compression design. This increases safety against falling out, for example, if the insert is sprayed during a wash cycle. The insert features a liquid passage above the spring mechanism, above the holding area, and / or above the transition between the spring mechanism and the holding area. This liquid passage allows for and is dimensioned for rinsing an otherwise difficult-to-reach upper surface, thus improving hygiene.
[0020] It is possible that the frame of the insert and at least one of the rail sections form complementary locking sections of a locking device. The locking device defines at least two locking positions of the insert along at least one cam range of the base body. The locking section of the frame is located on the underside of the frame. Thus, at least the locking section of the frame is protected from dishes / cutlery on the insert beneath the insert.
[0021] It is possible that at least one row of cams on the base and at least one row of cams on the insert have the same cam spacing. Therefore, by moving the insert, the same offset between the cam rows can be changed along the cam rows. This allows a piece of dishware / cutlery to be inserted at any position along the cam rows with the same spacing.
[0022] It is possible that a first locking position of the locking mechanism is selected such that at least one row of cams on the base body and at least one row of cams on the insert are aligned perpendicular to the row of cams on the base body. When the rows of cams are aligned, the respective gap (the offset) is maximized, allowing particularly bulky pieces of dishes / cutlery to be inserted.
[0023] It is possible that a further detent position of the detent device is selected, such that the offset of the at least one cam row of the base body to the at least one cam row of the insert is selected from: 1 / 2, 1 / 4, 3 / 4, 1 / 3, 2 / 3, 1 / 8, 3 / 8, 5 / 8 and 7 / 8 of the cam spacing. These cam spacings are particularly preferred for securely holding differently sized / small pieces of dishes / cutlery.
[0024] The locking sections may be configured as at least one locking lug and at least one locking pocket, wherein the height of the locking lug is not greater than the height of the locking pocket. The height of the locking lug is preferably less than the height of the locking pocket. The height of the locking lug can be understood as its extension relative to a section of the insert adjacent to the locking lug. The height of the locking pocket can also be understood as its extension relative to a section of the insert adjacent to the locking pocket. The height of the locking pocket can be described as its depth; the adjacent sections of the locking lug and / or the locking pocket need not be of the same height or aligned with each other. The "height" preferably refers to a distance from an (imaginary) straight line, plane, or curve of the actual mounting of the frame to the rail section. This is advantageous because at least one locking lug is vertically force-free in every locking position. This facilitates shifting to overcome the locking mechanism and thus improves the handling of the dishwashing basket. A pocket can, for example, be a recess / depression between two steps. A pocket can, for example, be a section between a step and a lug. A pocket can, for example, be a section between two lugs.
[0025] The insert may have at least one row of pins between the two rows of cams, with the pins of the pin row being lower than the cams of the cam row. These pins improve the securing of dishes / cutlery against unintentional slippage.
[0026] The insert may have two rows of cams and a handle, with the handle extending transversely to the insertion direction of the insert along the rail sections between each cam of the insert's rows. If the insert has more than two rows of cams, the handle preferably extends between the two outermost rows. This ensures that the handle does not obstruct any possible insertion position for dishes / cutlery, allowing for the maximum amount of dishes / cutlery to be accommodated in the dishwashing basket. Preferably, the handle connects the two cams, enabling them to transmit displacement forces into the (remaining) insert, such as into the insert's frame. If the insert has more than two rows of cams, the handle preferably connects one cam of each row. The insert may be slidable on at least three parallel rail sections of the base body. This can, for example, improve centering and / or force distribution.
[0027] It is possible that at least one support section, located within an area between the two outer rail sections, extends outwards behind the two outer rail sections of the at least two rail sections. This support section is therefore positioned far to the outside and thus offers high resistance to the insert tipping.
[0028] It is possible that the two outer rail sections of the at least three rail sections are inclined outwards in a V-shape, and the insert rests flat against these two outer rail sections. This achieves both self-centering and load transfer.
[0029] The base body may have sections, particularly grid sections, which act as stops for the at least one retaining section, limiting the slideability of the insert. A stop may be selected such that, when the retaining section is in contact with this stop, the at least one row of cams on the base body and the at least one row of cams on the insert are aligned perpendicular to the row of cams on the base body. A stop may also be selected such that, when the retaining section is in contact with this stop, the offset of the at least one row of cams on the base body relative to the at least one row of cams on the insert is chosen from: 1 / 2, 1 / 4, 3 / 4, 1 / 3, 2 / 3, 1 / 8, 3 / 8, 5 / 8, and 7 / 8 of the cam spacing. It is possible that both stops are selected, so that each time the holding section is positioned against one of these stops, the cam row of the insert can be displaced relative to the cam row of the base body by one cam spacing between two relative positions of the cam rows, where the cam rows are aligned. By having at least one holding section abut a section of the base body, the displacement is reliably limited.
[0030] A combination of the stop of at least one holding section and the above locking device is advantageous because a high displacement force may be introduced into the insert by a jamming of dishes, which is then dissipated by the stop of the holding section against the respective section of the base body, so that the locking device reliably engages.
[0031] The insert may have several retaining sections, which are symmetrical about a central axis. This central axis is preferably an imaginary center axis of the retaining sections. Even more preferably, the center line is an imaginary center line of the insert. Preferably, the insert as a whole is symmetrical about the central axis. Using one of these options, an insert is obtained that can be inserted into the base body regardless of its orientation about the central axis. This simplifies assembly. Easy assembly is also beneficial to users of the dishwasher after cleaning or similar processes. It can be said that if the insert is symmetrical about the central axis, this has the advantage that the insert can be used indiscriminately even if inserted rotated by 180°. In an operating position, the central axis preferably runs vertically. The central axis preferably runs perpendicular to a rail plane in which the rail sections run. The central axis preferably runs perpendicular to an extension plane, which is defined by an extension mechanism of the dishwashing tray, such as extension rails, extension rollers, and the like.
[0032] According to another aspect of the invention, a household dishwasher is proposed which has at least one dishwashing compartment as described above. The features, options, and advantages described above apply accordingly.

[0050] In the figures, identical or functionally equivalent elements have been given the same reference symbols, unless otherwise indicated.
[0051] Figure 1 shows a schematic perspective view of an embodiment of a household dishwasher 1. The household dishwasher 1 comprises a wash chamber 2, which can be closed, in particular watertight, by a door 3. For this purpose, a sealing device can be provided between the door 3 and the wash chamber 2. The wash chamber 2 is preferably cuboid in shape. The wash chamber 2 can be arranged in a housing of the household dishwasher 1. The wash chamber 2 and the door 3 can form a wash chamber 4 for washing dishes.
[0052] The door 3 is shown in its open position in Fig. 1. The door 3 can be opened or closed by pivoting it about a pivot axis 5 located at one of its lower ends. The door 3 can be used to open or close a loading opening 6 of the wash tank 2. The wash tank 2 has a base 7, a top 8 opposite the base 7, a rear wall 9 opposite the closed door 3, and two opposing side walls 10 and 11. The base 7, the top 8, the rear wall 9, and the side walls 10 and 11 can, for example, be made of stainless steel. Alternatively, the base 7 can, for example, be made of a plastic material.
[0053] The household dishwasher 1 further comprises at least one dishware holder 12, 13, 14. Preferably, several, for example three, dishware holders 12, 13, 14 can be provided, wherein dishware holder 12 can be a lower dishware holder or a lower basket, dishware holder 13 an upper dishware holder or an upper basket, and dishware holder 14 a cutlery drawer. As further shown in Fig. 1, the dishware holders 12, 13, 14 are arranged one above the other in the wash tub 2. Each dishware holder 12, 13, 14 can be selectively moved into or out of the wash tub 2. In particular, each dishware holder 12, 13, 14 can be pushed or driven into the dishwashing container 2 in an insertion direction E (arrow) and can be pulled or driven out of the dishwashing container 2 in an extraction direction A (arrow) contrary to the insertion direction E (arrow).
[0054] An exemplary embodiment of a dishwashing tray 12, 13, 14 according to the invention is described below with reference to Figures 2 to 9. This example is the cutlery drawer 14. The following description and the accompanying figures show optional features.
[0055] The cutlery drawer 14 has a base body 15 and an insert 16. The cutlery drawer 14 shown also has laterally mounted extension rollers, which are designed for effortless and supported opening of the cutlery drawer 14. The base body 15 is formed in one piece, for example, as an injection-molded part. The base body 15 has, for example, a circumferential rim 17, between which a grid base 18 extends. From the grid base 18, cams 19 project upwards in rows 20. The base body 15 also has rail sections 21, which are clearly visible, for example, in Figures 7 to 9. The rail sections 21 extend along two rows of cams 20. The rail sections 21 are, for example, at least partially formed by the grid base 18.
[0056] For example, three rail sections 21a, 21b, 21c run parallel and define an area in which the insert 16 is placed. The insert 16 is placed in this area between the rail sections 21a, 21b, 21c in an insertion direction R (arrow) from top to bottom. One can say that the insert 16 is placed between the outermost rail sections 21a, 21c of the three (or at least two) rail sections 21a, 21b, 21c.
[0057] The insert 16 has a frame 22. Several retaining sections 23 are located at the bottom of the frame 22. The retaining sections 23 are coupled to the frame 22 via spring sections 24. In addition, several cams 25 project upwards from the frame 22 in two parallel cam rows 26. The frame 22 has a grid shape. A handle 27 extends transversely to the cam rows 26 between two cams 25.
[0058] As can be seen, for example, in a comparison of Fig. 4a to Fig. 4b, a comparison of Fig. 5a to Fig. 5b, and a comparison of Fig. 6a to Fig. 6b, the insert 16 is displaceable along the rail sections 21a, 21b, 21c. Specifically, the insert 16 can be moved along the rail sections 21a, 21b, 21c, for example, by a user. One direction of movement of the insert 16 relative to the base body 15 is parallel to the extension direction A (arrow) or insertion direction E (arrow).
[0059] Figures 7 and 9 clearly show that the retaining sections 23 are attached to the frame 22 by means of spring sections 24. The spring sections 24 are designed as bending springs. When the insert 16 is inserted from top to bottom between the (outer of the at least two parallel) rail sections 21a, 21c in the insertion direction R (arrow), the retaining sections 23 are initially forced inwards by contact with the rail sections 21a, 21c and move outwards from them. As soon as the insert 16 is inserted into the base body 15, the retaining sections 23 are pushed outwards by the respective spring section 24. Therefore, each retaining section 23 engages behind the respective rail section 21a, 21c in the opposite direction to the insertion direction R (arrow). Interlocking against the insertion direction R (arrow) preferably means that a positive locking is formed which prevents the removal of the insert 16 against the insertion direction R (arrow).
[0060] Frame 22 contains several liquid passages 28. These passages are shown particularly clearly in Figures 5a, 5b, and 9. One liquid passage 28 is located above each retaining section 23 and / or each spring section 24. During operation of the dishwasher 1, the liquid passages 28 allow liquid (water and / or wash liquor) to flow through the respective passage 28, over the respective spring section 24 / retaining section 23, and downwards. This ensures that the upper surface of the spring section 24 / retaining section 23 is rinsed during each wash cycle. This prevents food residue and the like from accumulating in this area.In the present example, the liquid passages are designed as lateral indentations of the frame 22, so that, for example, a large food residue which is stuck in a liquid passage 28 can be easily removed / rinsed out by removing the insert against the insertion direction R (arrow) (after loosening the retaining sections 23).
[0061] The frame 22 of the insert 16 and the central rail section 12b of the base body 15 form a locking device 29. The locking device 29 has at least one locking section of the insert 16 and one locking section of the base body 15. The locking sections are shaped complementarily to each other, so that one locking section can engage with another locking section.
[0062] The locking section of the insert 16 is a locking lug 30. The locking lug 30 is integrally formed with the frame 22 of the insert 16. In an operating position of the cutlery drawer 14 in the dishwasher 1, the locking lug 30 projects downwards. The locking section of the base body 16 consists of several locking pockets 31. The locking pockets 31 are integrally formed with the central rail section 21b. The locking pockets 31 can, for example, be designed as recesses. If the locking pockets 31 are designed as passages through the rail section 21b downwards, this can facilitate washing.
[0063] The height or vertical extent of the locking lug 30 is preferably smaller in magnitude than the depth or height or vertical extent of the locking pockets 31. This prevents the locking lug 30 from exerting a point load on the frame 22 by resting against the base of a locking pocket 31.
[0064] The locking lug 30 can be selectively engaged individually in each locking pocket 31. By engaging the locking lug 30 in a locking pocket 31, the insert 16 is fixed to a locking position along the rail sections. The accompanying Figures 4 to 6 illustrate two preferred locking positions from different angles.
[0065] Figures 4b, 5b, and 6b show the insert 16 at a first detent position 32, which is selected such that the cams 19 of the cam rows 20 of the base body 15 are aligned with each cam 25 of the cam rows 26 of the insert 16. As can be clearly seen, this results in a maximum offset 33 along the rail sections 21 between each pair of adjacent cams 19 or cams 25. The offset 33 corresponds to a cam spacing 34 of the cams 19 in each cam row 20 or of the cams 25 in each cam row 26 (without considering the width of the cams 19, 25). The offset can be described as a clear width (without considering the width of the cams 19, 25). The cam spacing is, for example, 12 mm to 25 mm, preferably 14 mm to 20 mm and particularly preferably 16 mm.
[0066] Figures 4a, 5a, and 6a show the insert 16 in a second locking position 35. The second locking position 35 is selected such that each cam 19 of the cam rows 20 of the base body 15 is positioned centrally between two cams 25 of the cam rows 26 of the insert. The offset 33 is thus half the cam spacing 34 (without considering the width of the cams 19, 25). By allowing the insert 16 to be moved to adjust the offset 33 between the cams 19, 25, the cutlery drawer 14 (generally: dishware holder) can be adapted to cutlery (generally: dishes) of varying widths. As a result, cutlery of different widths can be held securely.
[0067] An additional row of pins 36, formed on the frame 22, provides support for holding the components. The distance between the individual pins 37 of the row of pins 36 is smaller than the cam spacing 24. The height of the pins 37 is also smaller than the height of the cams 19, 25. The pins 37 can be referred to as holders and the row of pins as a holder row.
[0068] To facilitate the user's movement of the insert 16 along the rail sections 21 or the cam rows 19, a handle 27 is formed on the insert 16, and the handle 27 is connected to each cam 25 of the cam rows 26 of the insert 16. This ensures a high degree of safety against breakage of the handle 27.
[0069] As can be seen, for example, in Figures 7 and 9, the insert 16 is shaped such that the retaining sections 23 are symmetrical about an imaginary central axis of the insert 16. This allows the insert 16 to be rotated 180° about the central axis and inserted into the base body 15 without changing the function of the retaining sections 23. The imaginary central axis is perpendicular to a rail plane that runs in the rail sections 21a, 21b, 21c, preferably in the two outer rail sections 21a, 21c.
[0070] As shown, for example, in Figures 4a and 4b, additional detent pockets 31 are provided so that the detent lug 30 can engage in suitable detent pockets 31 in both installation positions around the imaginary central axis. According to an embodiment not shown, the detent lug 30 is located centrally or several detent lugs 30 are provided, so that the insert 16, including the detent lug(s) 30, is symmetrical about the imaginary center line.
[0071] As can be seen particularly in Figures 8 and 9, the two outer parallel rail sections 21a and 21c each have a contact surface 38, which is designed to bear against the frame 22 and to guide the insert 22. These contact surfaces 38 are arranged in a V-shape relative to each other, so that in the operating position the insert is held both in one direction of gravity and guided transversely to the direction of gravity. The frame 22 rests laterally against the contact surfaces 38. Preferably, the frame 22 rests flat against the contact surfaces 38.
[0072] As can be seen particularly in Figures 8 and 9, the central rail section 21b has a convex shape in the operating position, upon which a complementary concave section of the frame 22 rests. This provides lateral and vertical support for the frame 22, ensuring it is securely held in place.
[0073] The interaction of the three rail sections 21 a, 21 b, 21 c ensures that the frame 22 is guided clearly and reliably.
[0074] As can be seen particularly in Fig. 7, the base body 15 has sections 39, which serve as stops for the retaining sections 23. These sections 39 are bar sections of the grid base 18 or grid sections. The retaining sections 23 and the gap between the sections 39 of the grid base 18 are dimensioned together such that moving the insert brings the retaining sections 23 into contact with the sections 39 in the first detent position 32 and the second detent position 35. Thus, in the detent positions 32 and 35, which are the end positions of the insert 16, the detent lug 30 is relieved of stress.
[0075] The insert 16 can be detached and removed without damage using the spring sections 24. This allows the insert 16 and the base body 15 to be thoroughly cleaned, even in hard-to-reach areas, for example, during a dishwasher cycle. As a result, the cleaning performance is improved for both the dishes and cutlery, as well as for the dish holder 14 itself.
