[0055] Embodiments

[0056] The Modular Balcony System consists of a cage-like structure assembled using prefabricated metal profiles (T-slot, round bars, etc.) that can be customized to the specific dimensions of any balcony. The system is installed by raising adjustable feet at the base, which compress the structure between the balcony floor and ceiling, securing it using friction. This eliminates the need for drilling or permanent modifications, making the system ideal for renters and spaces with strict building regulations. The inclusion of another material like rubber or silicone as a seal at the top part of the system enhances the friction connection, preventing potential damage to the balcony ceiling or facade, while providing sufficient stability for heavy add-ons such as a hammock or pull up bar for fitness.

[0057] Fig. 1 describes the main frame of the modular balcony system without add-ons. The main frame consists of one outer middle horizontal profile (I), one inner upper horizontal profile (2), two middle side horizontal profiles (3), two inner vertical profiles (4) and two outer lower vertical profiles (5). The lower ends of each inner vertical profile (4) and each outer lower vertical profile (5) are firmly fixed to the floor of the balcony through static friction loads as a result of the compression loads between the balcony floor and balcony ceiling using the adjustable feet (6) or through floor or wall mounted fasteners. The inner upper horizontal profile (2) is placed under the ceiling of the balcony and its upper side is in contact with the balcony ceiling through friction seal (7) or through ceiling or wall mounted fasteners. Both ends of the inner upper horizontal profile (2) are connected to the upper ends of the two inner vertical profiles (4). The upper ends of the outer lower vertical profiles (5) are connected to both ends of the outer middle horizontal profile (1) and the outer ends of the middle side horizontal profiles (3), the inner ends of the middle side horizontal profiles (3) are connected to inner vertical profiles (4). In one embodiment, the connection between the outer middle horizontal profile ( 1 ) and any of the two outer lower vertical profiles (5) include railing mount (8). Adjustable feet (6) provide a range of adjustability so that the frame may be levelled, in the back compressed between the balcony floor and balcony ceiling, and in the front compressed between the balcony floor and balcony railing with the railing mount (8). The railing mounts (8) may be mounted anywhere along the outer middle horizontal profile (1) and any of the two outer lower vertical profiles (5), so that together with the adjustable feet, the frame may be compressed and held in position.

[0058] Fig. 2 describes the main frame, the upper supplementary frame and the lower supplementary frame of the balcony system without add-ons. The upper supplementary frame consists of one outer upper horizontal profile (10), two upper side horizontal profiles (11) and two outer upper vertical profiles (9). The lower ends of the outer upper vertical profiles (9) are connected to the triple connection between outer middle horizontal profile (1), middle side horizontal profiles (3) and outer lower vertical profiles (5). The upper ends of the outer upper vertical profiles (9) are connected to the double connection between both ends of the outer upper horizontal profile ( 10) and the outer sides of the upper side horizontal profiles (11). The inner ends of the two upper side horizontal profiles (11) are connected to the double connection between the inner upper horizontal profile (2) and the upper ends of the two inner vertical profiles (4). The outer upper horizontal profile (10) and the upper side horizontal profiles (11) are in contact with the balcony ceiling through friction seal (7) or through ceiling or wall mounted fasteners. The friction seal (7) provides a stronger friction force holding the frame in place and reduces chance of damage to the balcony ceiling. The lower supplementary frame consists of one outer lower horizontal profile (12) and two lower side horizontal profiles (13). The inner ends of the two lower side horizontal profiles (13) are connected to the lower ends of the two inner vertical profiles (4). The outer ends of the lower side horizontal profiles ( 13) are connected to the lower ends of the two outer lower vertical profiles (5). Both ends of the outer lower horizontal profile (12) are connected with lower ends of the two outer lower vertical profiles (5). The connections between all profiles are T-slot type connections (16).

[0059] In one embodiment, each of outer middle horizontal profile ( 1 ), inner upper horizontal profile (2), middle side horizontal profiles (3), inner vertical profiles (4), outer lower vertical profiles (5), outer upper vertical profiles (9), outer upper horizontal profile (10), upper side horizontal profiles (11), outer lower horizontal profile (12) and lower side horizontal profiles (13) is composed of one or more separate prefabricated profiles, connected to each other with T-slot connections and / or connecting pins.

[0060] In one embodiment, profiles extensions (14) include connecting pins (15).

[0061] In one embodiment, each of outer middle horizontal profile (1), inner upper horizontal profile (2), middle side horizontal profiles (3), inner vertical profiles (4), outer lower vertical profiles (5), outer upper vertical profiles (9), outer upper horizontal profile (10), upper side horizontal profiles (11), outer lower horizontal profile (12) and lower side horizontal profiles (13) further includes one or more profile extensions (14).

[0062] Fig. 3 describes detailed view of outer middle horizontal profile (1), composed of three separate prefabricated profiles and one profile extension (14). The profile extension (14) is only used if initial measurements were smaller in length than what is needed on the specific balcony. T-slot connection (16) is an example of a fastening method, but other methods may be used like, but not limited to end fasteners and comer brackets. What is important is that the design approach is that the fastening methods allow for easy assembly from the inside of the balcony (i.e., to not have to hang outside of the balcony to assemble). Connecting pins ( 15) are used to easily align the profiles during assembly and provide additional shear strength at the relevant profile butt joint. There may be one or more of these pins depending on application. Fig. 3a is enlarged view of connection with one connecting pin (15) and one T-slot connection (16), and Fig. 3b is enlarged view of connection with two connecting pins (15) and three T-slot connections (16). Each of the following profiles, namely the outer middle horizontal profile (1), two middle side horizontal profiles (3), inner upper horizontal profile (2), inner vertical profiles (4), outer lower vertical profiles (5), outer upper vertical profiles (9), outer upper horizontal profile (10), upper side horizontal profiles (11), outer lower horizontal profile (12) and lower side horizontal profiles (13) may have flat surface, or they are provided with one or more T or V shaped channel along its length. Fig. 4a is front view of square profile according to the invention with two recessed channels on each side, Fig. 4b is cross-section A-A of Fig. 4a. The profiles envisioned for this modular system are 40 x 40 mm (4040-4) or 80 x 80 (8080-8). Other t-slot profiles may be used depending on the region. In North America, the most common profiles include the 15 Series (imperial measurement) and 45 Series (metric). Profiles like 1530 (1.5" x 3") and 3030 (30x30 mm metric) are widely used, as well as 1010 (T'xl") and 1020 (l"x2"). The 45x45 mm profile is also popular due to its compatibility with European systems, especially in industries requiring heavy-duty applications. In Asia (particularly China and Japan), the 4040 and 8080 series are indeed popular, but other profiles like 3030 and 2020 are commonly used for lighter structures, especially in consumer products (such as 3D printers and DIY robotics). In China, 3060 and 6060 profiles are also popular for mid-range structural applications. In Australia often aligns with European standards, so 4040 and 8080 profiles are also common. However, 4545 profiles are popular in applications that need additional load-bearing capacity. 2020 and 3030 profiles are used in smaller-scale applications.
