AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Conventional methods fail to accurately monitor individual livestock panting, leading to ineffective management of heat stress, which affects productivity and reproductive rates in cattle, especially dairy cows, due to high temperatures.

Method used

A system and method using sensors worn on livestock to detect panting through gyro data analysis, particularly on a first axis perpendicular to the surface, generating information for managing panting and supporting individual monitoring.

Benefits of technology

Enables accurate, individual-based monitoring and management of heat-sensitive livestock, improving productivity and reducing stress-related losses by grouping and managing susceptible animals separately.

Abstract

According to one aspect of the present invention, a method for monitoring panting of livestock is provided, the method comprising the steps of: obtaining sensor data measured by a sensor worn on livestock; detecting panting of the livestock from the sensor data on the basis of first-axis gyro data included in the sensor data; and, in response to detection of panting of the livestock, generating information related to a method for addressing the panting of the livestock, wherein the first axis is an axis perpendicular to the ground surface.
