Mutlifunctional drug conjugate of gemfibrozil and a mitochondrial uncoupler, and compositions and methods thereof

Abstract

The invention provides novel multifunctional conjugates of phenol-based mitochondrial uncoupler (e.g., 2, 4-dinitrophenol) and gemfibrozil, and derivatives thereof. The invention also provides pharmaceutical compositions comprising a compound of the invention and methods thereof for treating various diseases and disorders associated with or related to mitochondria or mitochondrial dysfunctions (e.g., neurodegenerative, metabolic and inflammatory diseases and disorders).
