Apparatus and method for radar-assisted monitoring of the vascular system of a human body

A radar device angled at 90 degrees to the body's longitudinal axis improves blood pressure monitoring by dividing the body into sections for precise, continuous, and comfortable measurements, addressing inaccuracies and spatial limitations of existing methods.

Abstract

The invention relates to a method and to a corresponding apparatus (100) for radar-assisted monitoring of the vascular system of a human body (110). The apparatus (100) has a radar device (120) for detecting superficial skin movements, the radar device (120) being arranged at a distance from the body (110) such that the skin movements can be detected in a contactless manner. The radar device (120) is positioned at an angle of inclination α ≠ 90° relative to the longitudinal axis (130) of the body, such that radar waves (121) are emitted obliquely onto the body (110) in order to propagate from the head in the direction of the feet or from the feet in the direction of the head. An evaluation unit (140) determines a parameter of the vascular system on the basis of skin movements detected by means of reflected radar waves.
