AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Conventional methods struggle to effectively visualize how a welding bead is formed on a workpiece, making it difficult for operators to imagine the welding process.

Method used

A robot system that includes a display control unit to superimpose a virtual bead image simulating the appearance of a welding bead along detected welding lines on an image captured by an imaging unit, allowing operators to visualize the welding process.

🎯Benefits of technology

Enables operators to easily visualize the formation of weld beads, including hidden areas, by displaying virtual bead images that reflect the welding operation, facilitating better understanding and adjustment of welding conditions.

Abstract

Provided is a robot system with which it is possible to easily visualize the manner in which a weld bead is formed. This robot system 100 comprises: a display control unit 311 that causes a display unit to display an image based on imaging information which is captured by an imaging unit and includes at least a welding object to be welded by a welding robot; and a welding line detection unit 314 that detects a welding line of the welding object included in the imaging information. The display control unit 311 causes a virtual bead image imitating the appearance of a welding bead formed through the welding operation to be displayed along the detected welding line so as to be superimposed on the image produced using the imaging information.
