Provided is a system for identifying vehicles of traffic violators, the system having elements that include: a video camera for providing, in real-time, a video signal that represents plural sequential video image frames (either perceptually continuous video, such as 30 frames per second, or non-perceptually continuous video, such as 1-2 fps); a traffic violation detector (e.g., a radar gun, an in-ground loop, a pair of self-powered wireless transponders or transmitters, a camera-based speed detection system, or any other speed sensor) that provides a trigger signal (e.g., based on vehicle speed and detection of the state of a traffic signal); a video recorder that receives the video signal provided by the camera and records the video signal in a buffer until receipt of a trigger signal, at which point at least a portion of the video signal stored in the buffer is preserved for recording and direct real-time storage of the video signal to a hard drive, or other high-capacity storage medium, commences. As a result, the video signal is preserved during a pre-programmable sliding (or rolling) time interval prior to provision of the trigger signal.

A magnetic holder for cell phones includes a cup formed of a ferromagnetic material or the like within which a magnet is supported. The rear surface of the cup includes a double-sided adhesive pad to provide attachment of the cup to a vehicle dashboard surface or the like. The cup concentrates the force of the magnet along the frontal edges thereof. A friction ring encircles the frontal edges of the cup to provide enhanced retention of a cell phone secured to the cup by magnetic attraction between the internal magnet and the cell phone battery or other metallic portion thereof. Alternate embodiments are shown which provide different shapes of cup and magnet and which provide differing attachments such as suction cups or belt clips for retaining the magnetic holder. In a further alternate embodiment, the packaging provided for the cup holder is constructed to facilitate the multiple display of the a plurality of cup holders and packages in typical point of sale environment.

A system and method for displaying traffic information in an automotive navigation system having a display, memory and a data receiver. The method includes the first step of storing in a traffic speed table in memory at least two speed threshold limits wherein each speed threshold limit represents a different traffic flow category. The receiver receives data representative of the vehicle speed on at least one road segment and compares that received vehicle speed data with the traffic speed table to determine the traffic flow category corresponding to the received speed data for the road segment. A visual indicator is then displayed on the display which corresponds to the traffic flow category for the road segment. The user is able to customize the speed threshold limits through a GUI. These speed threshold limits are further user modifiable as a function of weather, day of the week, road conditions, type of road, as well as other factors.

The first location, second location and third location are all different, and in response to provision of the trigger signal at least a portion of the video signal stored in the buffer means is preserved for recording by the video recording means.

Expected pixel positions of the selected object portion in the given image frame is determined based on the location of the selected object portion in the reference image frame, and pixel positions of the selected object portion are located as detected in the given image frame. An alignment of the given camera is determined based on a comparison of the pixel positions of the selected object portion in the given image frame to the expected pixel positions of the selected object portion in the given image frame.
