AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Conventional battery charging methods that maintain a fully charged state for extended periods can degrade battery lifespan and pose safety risks due to high voltage maintenance and overheating.

Method used

An electronic device that optimizes battery charging based on user sleep patterns by temporarily stopping charging when a threshold level is reached and resuming it before the user wakes up, using sleep data to determine reliable charging intervals.

🎯Benefits of technology

Improves battery efficiency and stability by preventing prolonged full charge states, ensuring the battery is fully charged before sleep ends while minimizing degradation and safety hazards.

Abstract

An electronic device and a control method therefor are disclosed. In particular, the electronic device according to the present disclosure may comprise a battery, a charging unit, a memory and at least one processor, wherein the at least one processor: acquires sleep data related to a sleep time of a user; identifies, on the basis of the sleep data, a sleep pattern indicating a sleep start time and a sleep end time of the user; acquires a reliability value for the sleep pattern; determines, on the basis of the reliability value, a threshold level corresponding to the reliability value in the total capacity of the battery; when the reliability value is greater than or equal to the threshold value, controls the charging unit to temporarily stop charging of the battery when the battery is charged to the threshold level; and, on the basis of the charging speed of the battery, controls the charging unit to resume the temporarily stopped charging before a threshold time from the sleep end time.
