Claims

A sample discharge system for discharging a core sample from a tubular sample container includes an enclosure with an inner chamber, a sample loading port for inserting the container into the chamber, and a sample discharge port configured to discharge the sample from the chamber as it is discharged from the container. A rotatably arranged carriage in the inner chamber receives and releasably holds the sample container. The carriage can rotate between a first position for receiving the container from the loading port and a second position where the sample container is held by the carriage in an inverted vertical position aligned with the discharge port. A fluidic blade includes a fluid jet nozzle that emits a timed burst of high-pressure fluid into the chamber to cut and separate the sample core from the container as it falls through the discharge port.A programmable controller automatically controls the process.
