Description

5 A system that uses geolocation to connect players. Field of invention

[001] The present invention falls within the technological fields of Digital Communication, Informatics and Information Technology methods for management, applied to the segment of digital entertainment, event organization and social interaction between players. More specifically, it refers to a system and method for the formation, management and interaction of collaborative gaming groups, using real-time geolocation data, preference filters and a digital interface, applicable to both face-to-face and virtual games. Fundamentals of the invention

[002] State of the Art: Currently, there are platforms and applications that allow users to find events and interact with communities, such as generic social networks and event management systems. There is also specific software for games that offers communication and scheduling functions.

[003] Currently, there are online platforms and communities, such as Tavernaria, that focus on discussion forums, news, and scheduling RPG sessions in a generic way, without an intrinsic focus on the user's location. They facilitate communication, but the process of finding and connecting with players or groups in a specific geographic area, with the intention of face-to-face meetings, is manual and fragmented. This requires the user to rely on manually provided information and does not utilize geolocation technology to optimize this search.

[004] The solutions also have other limitations: They lack optimized integration between precise geolocation and custom filters for group formation; Most are not geared towards simultaneous in-person and virtual collaborative games; Organizational features (such as calendar, chat, player profile and forum) are fragmented across different platforms, hindering the user experience; Lack of specific tools for game masters or group organizers, with functionalities dedicated to managing campaigns and player profiles. Petition 870250072392, dated 08 / 15 / 2025, page 3 / 11 / 5

[005] Technical Problem: There is no integrated solution in the state of the art capable of locating, filtering, connecting and managing groups of players based on geolocation and detailed preferences, unifying communication, event organization and profile management in a single system.

[006] The technical problem that platforms like Tavernaria do not solve is the absence of an integrated solution that uses real-time geolocation and custom filters to connect players based on physical proximity, facilitating the formation and management of groups for in-person games.

[007] Proposed Solution: The present invention proposes an innovative solution that stands out by integrating real-time geolocation to allow players to search for and form groups near them, focusing on both virtual events and, primarily, face-to-face meetings. Unlike existing platforms that only list tables, the system of the present invention allows the user to filter by location (city, neighborhood or radius) to find a specific campaign, table or event that fits their preferences.

[008] The technical advantage is offering a centralized, secure, and optimized platform, reducing setup time, increasing engagement, and enabling a seamless experience for game masters and players. Brief description of the drawings

[009] Not applicable. Description of the invention

[010] The present invention consists of a computerized system implemented as a mobile application and web platform, aimed at connecting and managing groups of players through geolocation and advanced search filters. The system establishes communication with a backend server through secure APIs, ensuring fast and reliable processing of information, following the General Data Protection Law. Its architecture is designed to provide a Petition 870250072392, dated 08 / 15 / 2025, page 4 / 11 / 5 fluid and integrated experience, bringing together in a single environment functions of location, communication, event organization and user profile management.

[011] The core of the system is the geolocation module, which uses data obtained via GPS and map services to accurately determine the user's position and identify other players or groups within a defined radius or in specific geographic areas, such as a city or neighborhood. This allows the user, for example, to find an in-person board game event at a partner store, an RPG table at a themed bar, or an RPG campaign at a game master's house, all in their vicinity. This feature is combined with a set of filters that allow refining the search by criteria such as game system, difficulty level, number of players, available classes, and participation restrictions, ensuring that the user finds groups compatible with their profile and preferences.

[012] The system may also offer the functionality to create related events, allowing users to organize in-person or virtual meetings linked to specific campaigns or games. This functionality makes it possible to establish partnerships with specialized stores, gaming spaces, and other establishments in the sector, offering visibility and opportunities for mutual collaboration. Events may include detailed information such as location, date, time, number of places, participation requirements, and necessary materials, as well as allowing the management of registrations and the sending of automatic notifications to participants. This integration between the platform and specialized commerce contributes to strengthening the gaming community and boosting the realization of social and commercial activities in the collaborative gaming segment.

[013] Profile registration and management allow each user to register personal information and game preferences, including the role they play (game master or player) and their experience. In the free plan, it is possible to create up to two characters linked to the profile, while in the premium plan there may be a higher limit for the creation and storage of these characters. This difference adds flexibility and greater customization potential for users who opt for the paid service. Petition 870250072392, dated 08 / 15 / 2025, page 5 / 11 / 5

[014] Campaign management is carried out through a details page that centralizes information such as title, synopsis, system used, level, progress, status, representative banner (customizable in the premium plan) and list of participating players. The campaign creator has administrative tools that allow them to accept or remove members, apply restrictions and adjust specific participation settings.

[015] Communication between participants is facilitated by an internal group chat, intended for real-time message exchange, and by a discussion forum. In the free plan, the user can create new topics and interact in existing topics. In addition, the system incorporates a calendar module, in which sessions are recorded in an integrated calendar that sends automatic notifications, both to warn about upcoming dates and to alert about schedule changes or relevant changes in the group's organization.

[016] Premium features offer, in addition to the functionalities already mentioned, visual highlighting in group listings, allowing greater visibility for campaigns, and the possibility of advanced customization of the experience, including additional tools for organization, addition of exclusive content and improved control over events. The integration of all these elements into a single digital environment represents a technical advance in relation to the solutions available in the state of the art, providing practicality, centralization of information and greater interaction between players, both for virtual and face-to-face meetings. Examples of embodiments of the invention

[017] Example 1 - Player Usage: The user downloads the application, creates an account, sets preferences, and searches for nearby groups using filters. They join a group, participate in the chat, follow the session calendar, and receive notifications about schedule changes.

[018] Example 2 - Master Use: The game master creates a custom campaign with its own banner, sets entry restrictions, schedules sessions, and sends invitations to specific players. They create forum topics for discussions, add visual resources to the campaign, and maintain full control over member entry and exit. Petition 870250072392, dated 08 / 15 / 2025, page 6 / 11 / 5

[019] Example 3 - Organized In-Person Event: A group uses the platform to create an in-person RPG event in a city. Geolocation identifies nearby players, the calendar synchronizes dates, and the chat organizes the details. After the event, the campaign history remains available to participants on the premium plan.

[020] Example 4 - The 'Basket' Campaign: A game master, seeking players for his RPG campaign called 'Basket', uses the system to create a group with the following filters: 'Game System: D&D 5th Edition', 'Difficulty Level: Veteran', 'Location: Londrina'. He includes a detailed synopsis of the story, a banner with the campaign art (available in the premium plan), and schedules the sessions on the group's calendar. Interested players, who also use the application, find the campaign and request to join, being accepted by the game master. Petition 870250072392, dated 08 / 15 / 2025, page 7 / 11
