Device for checking the dimensions of a piece of luggage

Abstract

Device (1) for checking the dimensions of a piece of luggage (2), in particular a piece of luggage for air travel, wherein the device (1) is configured to indicate to a user of the device (1) by means of at least three limit indicators (3, 4, 5) whether the piece of luggage exceeds at least one dimensional limit, the device comprising: - a base element (6) which provides a base surface (7), - a first side element (8) which provides a first side surface (9), - a second side element (10) which provides a second side surface (11), wherein the base surface (7), the first side surface (9) and the second side surface (11) are substantially orthogonal to each other, wherein at least two parallel luminous strips (3, 3', 3'') are arranged on the base surface (7), which serve as elements of a first set of limit indicators (3, 4, 5),wherein at least two parallel luminous strips (4, 4', 4'') are arranged on the first side surface (9), which serve as elements of a second set of limit indicators (3, 4, 5), and wherein at least two parallel luminous strips (5, 5', 5'') are arranged on the second side surface (11), which serve as elements of a third set of limit indicators (3, 4, 5), wherein, to indicate whether the piece of luggage (2) exceeds at least one dimensional limit, exactly one element (3', 4', 5') of each of the first, second and third sets of limit indicators (3, 4, 5) is in operation, in particular illuminated, and the other elements (3, 3'', 4, 4'', 5, 5'') of each of the three sets of limit indicators (3, 4, 5) are not in operation, in particular not illuminated.
