Abstract

This item is a jig used when polishing metal, ore, and other samples with a polishing machine. Specifically, it is used in polishing samples embedded and solidified in resin for observation of the structure of metals, ore, etc., using a microscope, etc., by bringing them into contact with a rotating disc to which sandpaper is attached. This process requires work to be performed in a glove box under an inert atmosphere, and is used for polishing water-reactive substances and substances that ignite when finely polished. This item has holes on both sides for fixing samples and can accommodate samples of commonly used outer diameter sizes of 25 mm and 30 mm. As shown in the "Reference Diagram Showing Usage," the sample is fixed with bolts. When working in a glove box, it is used by holding it in a gloved hand, and by placing fingers on the bolts, the jig body can be held firmly, while preventing the gloves from being rubbed and damaged by the sandpaper.
