AI Technical Summary
When using the extrusion device to treat rubber materials mixed with polymer, silicon and silane coupling agents, the silicon and silane coupling agents often do not react completely, resulting in unreacted substances remaining in the rubber material.
An extrusion device consisting of a breaker plate, a deaeration hole and an aspirator was designed. The breaker plate refines the rubber material through its second through hole and generates shear heat to promote volatility of the reaction product, and the deaeration hole is used in conjunction with the aspirator to quickly discharge the volatile product.
It effectively improves the removal efficiency of unreacted substances, reduces the unreacted rate of silane coupling agent, and thus improves the quality and production efficiency of rubber materials.

Abstract
Description
[Technical field]
[0001] The present invention relates to an extrusion device. [Background technology]
[0002] In JP 2017-218496 A, it is proposed that when a polymer, silica, and a silane coupling agent are fed into a rubber kneader and kneaded, water, which is a reaction product of the silica and the silane coupling agent, is removed in the rubber kneader. Regarding the removal of water in the rubber kneader, the publication proposes providing a duct for water vapor deaeration in the rubber kneader. The publication states that, with such a configuration, water can be removed while kneading is being performed, and the silane reaction is sufficiently promoted, making it possible to efficiently produce a rubber composition in which silica is sufficiently dispersed.
[0003] In addition, JP 2017-7141 A discloses an extrusion device for rubber material. In this extrusion device, an extruder having a screw shaft that discharges a plastic material including unvulcanized rubber and a gear pump having a pair of gears that quantitatively discharges the material discharged from the extruder are integrally connected. In addition, this extrusion device is characterized in that it is provided with a foreign matter removal device between the screw shaft and the gear for removing foreign matter contained in the material. According to the publication, by providing the foreign matter removal device, foreign matter contained in the material is removed, so that molding defects can be prevented from occurring in molded products using the material.
[0004] JP 2018-69655 A discloses a rubber extruder for kneading an unvulcanized rubber material and extruding it from the upstream side to the downstream side. The rubber extruder has a casing, a screw shaft housed inside the casing, and a degassing section for sucking air inside the casing. The screw shaft includes a shaft body, a spiral blade protruding radially outward from the shaft body, and a dam section located upstream of the degassing section and having a larger diameter than the shaft body. The dam section has a through hole formed therein that penetrates the screw shaft in the axial direction. The publication states that the provision of the dam section increases the amount of rubber material extruded, thereby improving the productivity of the rubber extruder. [0006] However, as described above, a kneaded product (rubber material) obtained by kneading a polymer (rubber) as a raw material for rubber, silica, and a silane coupling agent may be passed through an extrusion device. At this time, the silica and the silane coupling agent may remain in the kneaded product in an unreacted state. The present inventors would like to suppress the silica and the silane coupling agent from remaining in the kneaded product in an unreacted state. [Means for solving the problem]
[0007] The extrusion device disclosed herein includes an extruder, a breaker plate, a vent hole, and a suction device. The extruder has an inlet connected to an outlet of a rubber kneader that kneads a rubber material. The extruder includes a cylinder and a screw shaft. The breaker plate is disposed within the cylinder and has a first through hole through which the screw shaft is inserted and a second through hole through which the rubber material passes. The vent hole is connected to the cylinder downstream of the breaker plate. The suction device is connected to the vent hole. With the extrusion device configured as described above, it is possible to increase the efficiency of removing reaction by-products from the rubber material. [Brief description of the drawings]
[0008] [Figure 1] FIG. 1 is a schematic cross-sectional view of an extrusion device 100. [Diagram 2] FIG. 2 is a partially enlarged view of FIG. [Diagram 3] FIG. 3 is a plan view of the breaker plate 2. As shown in FIG. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
[0009] Hereinafter, an embodiment of the invention disclosed herein will be described with reference to the drawings. Note that the present invention is not limited to the following embodiment. The drawings are drawn in a schematic manner and do not necessarily reflect the actual product. The drawings only show an example and do not limit the present invention unless otherwise specified. In addition, the same reference numerals are appropriately used for members and parts that perform the same function, and duplicated explanations are omitted. In addition, the reference numerals "L", "R", "U", and "D" in the drawings indicate "left", "right", "upper", and "lower", respectively.
[0010] -Extrusion device 100- Fig. 1 is a schematic cross-sectional view of an extrusion device 100. As shown in Fig. 1, the extrusion device 100 includes an extruder 1, a breaker plate 2, a chamber 3, a gear pump 4, a degassing hole 5, and a suction device 6. The extruder 1 has an inlet 1a connected to a discharge port (not shown) of a rubber kneader 10.
[0011] -Rubber mixer 10- The rubber kneader 10 is, for example, a device that kneads raw materials to produce a rubber material G. The rubber kneader 10 is, for example, a closed batch type kneader. As the rubber kneader 10, for example, a Banbury mixer is preferably used.
[0012] -Rubber material G- The rubber material G contains, for example, raw materials of a polymer, silica, a silane coupling agent, and an optional additive, and has a structure in which the polymer and silica are crosslinked by the silane coupling agent. In addition to such a structure, the rubber material G may contain any of an unreacted polymer, silica, and a silane coupling agent. The rubber material G is, for example, an unvulcanized plastic rubber material. Note that the raw materials contained in the rubber material G may be any raw materials used as raw materials for this type of rubber material. The types of such raw materials do not characterize the technology disclosed herein, and therefore will not be described here.
[0013] -Extruder 1- The extruder 1 is, for example, a device that receives and extrudes the rubber material G fed from a rubber kneader 10, and supplies it to a gear pump 4. Here, the extruder 1 is a single-screw extruder. In this specification, the direction T from the inlet 1a to the outlet 1b of the extruder 1 (direction from right to left in FIG. 1) is defined as the "extrusion direction T of the rubber material G." In addition, in the extrusion direction T of the rubber material G, the inlet 1a side of the extruder 1 is defined as the "upstream" and the outlet 1b side is defined as the "downstream." The rubber material G is extruded from upstream to downstream in the extrusion direction T.
[0014] As shown in FIG. 1, the extruder 1 includes a cylinder 11 and a screw shaft 12. The cylinder 11 is, for example, a member constituting a part of a flow path of the rubber material G from the rubber kneader 10 to the gear pump 4. In the embodiment shown in FIG. 1, the cylinder 11 is a hollow cylindrical member. Here, the space inside the cylinder 11 becomes a flow path of the rubber material G (hereinafter, also referred to as "flow path 11s"). In this embodiment, the cylinder 11 has an inlet 1a and an outlet 1b. The inlet 1a is, for example, provided on the upstream side of the cylinder 11 in the extrusion direction T. The inlet 1a is, for example, a portion where the rubber material G is introduced into the cylinder 11 from a discharge port (not shown) of the rubber kneader 10. The outlet 1b is, for example, provided on the downstream side of the cylinder 11 in the extrusion direction T. The outlet 1b is, for example, a portion where the rubber material G is discharged into the chamber 3.
[0015] The screw shaft 12 is a member that, for example, rotates to knead the rubber material G in the cylinder 11 and extrudes it toward the gear pump 4. The rotation of the screw shaft 12 is driven by a drive device 20 provided upstream in the extrusion direction T. In this embodiment, the screw shaft 12 has a shaft body 12a and a helical blade 12b. The shaft body 12a is disposed in the flow path 11s, for example, with the extension direction of the shaft body 12a aligned with the extension direction of the cylinder 11. The helical blade 12b protrudes radially outward from the surface of the shaft body 12a. The helical blade 12b is provided continuously on the surface of the shaft body 12a, for example, in the extension direction of the shaft body 12a.
[0016] -Breaker Plate 2- FIG. 2 is a partially enlarged view of FIG. 1. In FIG. 2, a part of the cylinder in FIG. 1 is partially enlarged and shown. FIG. 3 is a plan view of the breaker plate 2. The breaker plate 2 is, for example, a member that breaks the rubber material G that has passed through the breaker plate 2 into small pieces and generates shear heat in the rubber material G. The breaker plate 2 is disposed in the cylinder 11 as shown in FIG. 1 and FIG. 2. Here, the breaker plate 2 has a first through hole 20A through which the screw shaft 12 is inserted. As shown in FIG. 1 and FIG. 2, the breaker plate 2 is fitted into the cylinder 11. In this embodiment, the breaker plate 2 is fixed to the inner wall of the cylinder 11. The breaker plate 2 may be fixed to the inner wall of the cylinder 11 by, for example, welding the periphery of the breaker plate 2 to the inner wall of the cylinder 11. In this embodiment, the screw shaft 12 rotates in the cylinder 11, but the breaker plate 2 does not rotate in accordance with the rotation of the screw shaft 12. As shown in FIG. 3, the breaker plate 2 is a disk-shaped member made of metal. The diameter of the breaker plate 2 (here, the diameter D 21 ) can be appropriately set to a size that can be fitted into the cylinder 11 and can properly function as a breaker plate.
[0017] As shown in FIG. 2 and FIG. 3, the breaker plate 2 has a base 21, a first through hole 20A, and a plurality of second through holes 22. The base 21 is, for example, a portion that is fitted into the cylinder 11. The base 21 is disk-shaped here. The first through hole 20A is a portion through which the screw shaft 12 is inserted. The diameter of the first through hole 20A is preferably set to such an extent that the inserted screw shaft 12 does not contact the inner peripheral surface of the first through hole 20A. The second through hole 22 is, for example, a portion through which the rubber material G passes. In this embodiment, the second through hole 22 communicates with the first surface 2a and the second surface 2b. Here, for the convenience of explanation, with respect to the breaker plate 2, the surface on the upstream side of the extrusion direction T is the first surface 2a, and the surface opposite to the first surface 2a is the second surface 2b (see FIG. 2). 1 and 2, when the rubber material G is sent from upstream to downstream inside the cylinder 11 and reaches the first surface 2a, it is broken down by the second through holes 22 and reaches the first surface 2b side, and flows toward the discharge port 1b. The number of the second through holes 22 is not particularly limited, but may be, for example, 50 or more and 200 or less.
[0018] Diameter D of the second through hole 22 p (see FIG. 3) is not particularly limited as long as it can realize the effects of the technology disclosed herein. From the viewpoint of suppressing clogging of the breaker plate 2 when the rubber material G passes through, the diameter D p For example, the diameter D of the cylinder 11 e (see FIG. 2 ), preferably 1 / 40 or more, and more preferably 1 / 30 or more. On the other hand, from the viewpoint of increasing the amount of shear heat generated at the breaker plate 2 when the rubber material G passes through, the diameter D p For example, diameter D e It is 1 / 20 or less, preferably 1 / 15 or less, and more preferably 1 / 10 or less.
[0019] -Chamber 3- As shown in FIG. 1, the chamber 3 is provided downstream of the breaker plate 2. In the embodiment shown in FIG. 1, the chamber 3 is, for example, an internal space of a connecting member 30 that connects the extruder 1 and the gear pump 4. The chamber 3 is provided downstream of the extruder 1 and upstream of the gear pump 4. Here, the chamber 3 has a first connecting port 31 and a second connecting port 32. As shown in FIG. 1 and FIG. 2, the first connecting port 31 is connected to the discharge port 1b of the extruder 1. As shown in FIG. 1, the second connecting port 32 is connected to the inlet 4a of the gear pump 4.
[0020] -Gear pump 4- The gear pump 4 is, for example, a low-volume extrusion pump. The gear pump 4 is connected to the chamber 3. In the embodiment shown in FIG. 1, the gear pump 4 extrudes the rubber material G flowing from the extruder 1 to the extrusion head 40 at a constant rate. As shown in FIG. 1, the gear pump 4 has a pair of gears 41 and a chamber 42. The pair of gears 41 is, for example, a member that extrudes the rubber material G flowing from the chamber 3 to the gear pump 4 to the extrusion head 40. In this embodiment, the pair of gears 41 are arranged in a first chamber 42a and a second chamber 42b in the chamber 42, one each in a state of meshing with each other. The pair of gears 41 are connected to, for example, a driving device not shown. Then, for example, the gear 41 arranged in the first chamber 42a rotates along the arrow P1, and the gear 41 arranged in the second chamber 42b rotates along the arrow P2, so that the rubber material G is extruded from the chamber 42 through the discharge port 4b to the extrusion head 40.
[0021] The chamber 42 is, for example, a portion in which the pair of gears 41 are disposed. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 1, the chamber 42 includes a first chamber 42a disposed on the upper side and a second chamber 42b on the lower side. Here, the first chamber 42a and the second chamber 42b are mutually communicated, and the rubber material G that flows in from the inlet 4a flows into both the first chamber 42a and the second chamber 42b.
[0022] -Vent hole 5- As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the vent hole 5 is connected to the cylinder 11. The vent hole 5 is, for example, a portion that creates a negative pressure inside the cylinder 11. In this embodiment, the vent hole 5 is provided on the inner wall of the cylinder 11. Here, the vent hole 5 is connected to a suction device 6. By operating the suction device 6, air can be sucked from inside the cylinder 11, and the inside of the cylinder 11 can be made negative pressure. Although not shown, a mesh is arranged in the vent hole 5 to prevent the rubber material G from flowing out of the cylinder 11 through the vent hole 5.
[0023] From the viewpoint of efficiently removing reaction by-products before the rubber material G, which has been broken down by passing through the breaker plate 2, is re-integrated, the vent hole 5 may be, for example, 30 cm or less away from the breaker plate 2, preferably 25 cm or less away, and more preferably 20 cm or less away. From this viewpoint, the vent hole 5 may be, for example, 3 cm or more away from the breaker plate 2, preferably 5 cm or more away, and more preferably 10 cm or more away.
[0024] -Suction device 6- 1, the suction device 6 is connected to the vent hole 5. The suction device 6 is, for example, a device that sucks air from inside the cylinder 11 through the vent hole 5. The suction device 6 is, for example, a vacuum pump. Note that the type of the suction device 6 does not characterize the technology disclosed herein and is not particularly limited.
[0025] -Strainer 7- In the embodiment shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the extrusion device 100 includes a strainer 7. The strainer 7 is, for example, a member that removes foreign matter from the rubber material G and breaks down the lumpy rubber material G. The strainer 7 may be, for example, in the form of a mesh. The strainer 7 is preferably made of a mesh that is finer than the breaker plate 2. Here, the mesh diameter D of the strainer 7 is s (not shown) is the diameter D of the second through hole 22p It is preferable that it is smaller than .
[0026] In this embodiment, the strainer 7 is disposed upstream of the breaker plate 2 within the cylinder 11. From the viewpoint of maintaining the shape of the rubber material G after passing through the strainer 7, the strainer 7 may be disposed, for example, 1 cm or more upstream of the breaker plate 2, preferably 3 cm or more, and more preferably 5 cm or more. From the same viewpoint, the strainer 7 may be disposed, for example, 20 cm or less upstream of the breaker plate 2, preferably 15 cm or less, and more preferably 10 cm or less.
[0027] In this embodiment, the strainer 7 is fixed to the inner wall of the cylinder 11. The strainer 7 may be fixed to the inner wall of the cylinder 11, for example, by welding the periphery of the strainer 7 to the inner wall of the cylinder 11. In this embodiment, the screw shaft 12 rotates in the cylinder 11, but the strainer 7 does not rotate in accordance with the rotation of the screw shaft 12. As shown in FIG. 2, the strainer 7 is provided with a through hole 7A through which the screw shaft 12 is inserted. The diameter of the through hole 7A may be the same as the diameter of the first through hole 20A of the breaker plate 2, for example.
[0028] The number of strainers 7 to be installed is not particularly limited. The number of strainers 7 may be, for example, one, two or more, or three or more. On the other hand, from the viewpoint of smooth extrusion of the rubber material G, the number of strainers 7 may be, for example, five or less, and preferably four or less. When a plurality of strainers 7 are provided, it is preferable to arrange the strainers 7 in a stacked state.
[0029] When the extrusion device 100 shown in FIG. 1 is used, first, the rubber material G is fed from the discharge port 1b of the rubber kneader 10 through the inlet 1a into the flow path 11s of the cylinder 11 of the extruder 1. In the flow path 11s, the rubber material G is kneaded and extruded toward the downstream of the extrusion direction T by the screw shaft 12 driven by the drive device 20. Next, the rubber material G passes through the strainer 7. Next, the rubber material G that has passed through the strainer 7 passes through the breaker plate 2. The rubber material G that has passed through the breaker plate 2 flows further downstream and is extruded from the extruder 1 to the chamber 3 through the discharge port 1b and the first connecting port 31. Next, the rubber material G extruded into the chamber 3 is extruded from the chamber 3 to the gear pump 4 through the second connecting port 32 and the inlet 4a. Next, the rubber material G enters the chamber 42 and is extruded from the discharge port 4b to the extrusion head 40 by a pair of gears 41. The rubber material G is then extruded by the extrusion head 40 and formed into a sheet-like rubber strip.
[0030] For example, a rubber material for a tire can be produced by using the extrusion device 100. The rubber material G for a tire produced by using the extrusion device 100 is used as a rubber material for a tread rubber, a rubber material for a sidewall rubber, etc., and is particularly preferably used as a rubber material for a tread rubber.
[0031] As described above, the extrusion device 100 includes the extruder 1, the breaker plate 2, the vent hole 5, and the suction device 6. The extruder 1 has an inlet 1a connected to an outlet (not shown) of a rubber kneader 10 that kneads a rubber material G, and includes a cylinder 11 and a screw shaft 12. The breaker plate 2 is disposed within the cylinder 11, and has a first through hole 20A through which the screw shaft 12 is inserted, and a second through hole 22 through which the rubber material G passes. The vent hole 5 is connected to the cylinder 11 downstream of the breaker plate 2. The suction device 6 is connected to the vent hole 5.
[0032] In the extrusion device 100 having such a configuration, when the rubber material G reaches the breaker plate 2 in the cylinder 11, back pressure is generated against the flow front end of the rubber material G. The rubber material G passes through the second through hole 22, but the flow path is narrowed to the diameter of the second through hole 22, so that the rubber material G is divided into a plurality of rod-shaped objects according to the shape of the second through hole 22. When the rubber material G passes through the second through hole 22, shear heat is generated in the rubber material G, and the by-products of the reaction in the rubber material G (for example, water and alcohol generated by the silane coupling reaction) are volatilized by the shear heat. When the rubber material G passes through the second through hole 22, the lump-shaped rubber material G is divided into a plurality of rod-shaped objects, so that the surface area of the rubber material G is increased. This makes it easier for the by-products of the reaction in the rubber material G to volatilize. In the extrusion device 100, a degassing hole 5 to which a suction device 6 is connected is provided downstream of the breaker plate 2. Therefore, the by-products volatilized by the breaker plate 2 are quickly discharged to the outside of the cylinder 11 through the vent hole 5. This makes it possible to efficiently remove the by-products of the reaction from the rubber material G, and in turn, to reduce the rate of unreacted silane coupling agent in the rubber material G.
[0033] The breaker plate 2 may be fixed to the inner wall of the cylinder 11. By fixing the breaker plate 2 to the inner wall of the cylinder 11, the position of the second through hole 22 does not change with the rotation of the screw shaft 12. This makes it possible to, for example, extend the time during which the shape of the rod-shaped object generated by the rubber material G passing through the second through hole 22 is maintained. The longer the time during which the shape of the rod-shaped object is maintained, the longer the period during which the by-products of the reaction volatilize, for example. This makes it possible to more efficiently remove the by-products of the reaction from the rubber material G.
[0034] In addition, the extrusion device 100 may be provided with a mesh-like strainer 7 with finer mesh than the breaker plate 2, located upstream of the breaker plate 2 in the cylinder 11. By providing the strainer 7, foreign matter can be removed. In addition, before the rubber material G passes through the breaker plate 2, the mesh of the strainer 7 can separate the rubber material G into fine particles. Therefore, the rubber material G in a captured and separated state can be passed through the breaker plate 2. Therefore, the rubber material G can be maintained in a state in which the surface area is increased. This can further improve the efficiency of removing by-products of the reaction from the rubber material G.
[0035] In addition, the breaker plate 2 has a diameter D of the cylinder 11. e Diameter D is 1 / 30 or more and 1 / 10 or less of the size of p The breaker plate 2 may have a plurality of second through holes 22 each having a diameter D p By setting in the above range, it is possible to increase the amount of shear heat generation while maintaining a suitable surface area in the rubber material G. As a result, it is possible to further improve the efficiency of removing reaction by-products from the rubber material G.
[0036] In addition, the vent hole 5 is preferably 10 cm or more and 20 cm or less downstream from the breaker plate 2. By providing the vent hole 5 at a position within the above range downstream from the breaker plate 2, degassing can be performed while the rubber material G is maintained in a state divided by the breaker plate 2. This makes it possible to further improve the efficiency of removing reaction by-products from the rubber material G.
[0037] Moreover, a tire can be manufactured using the extrusion device 100. In manufacturing such a tire, a rubber material for a tire can be manufactured using the extrusion device 100. As described above, the extrusion device 100 can improve the efficiency of removing reaction by-products from the rubber material G. Therefore, by using the extrusion device 100, for example, a tire in which molding defects and the like are suppressed can be manufactured.
[0038] Test examples relating to the present disclosure will be described below, but it is not intended that the present disclosure be limited to those shown in such test examples. Note that the reference numbers described in the following test examples are the reference numbers described in Figures 1 to 3.
[0039] --Example-- The sheet-shaped rubber strip of this example was produced using a commercially available Banbury mixer (manufactured by Kobe Steel, Ltd., BB270 (4WN rotor)) as the rubber kneader 10 and an extrusion device 100 shown in FIG.
[0040] -Comparative Example- The breaker plate 2 and the strainer 7 were removed from the extrusion apparatus 100. In addition, the pressure in the cylinder 11 was not reduced through the vent hole 5. Otherwise, the same materials and procedures as those in the example were used to produce the sheet-shaped rubber strip of this example.
[0041] -Temperature measurement- A temperature sensor was installed in the cylinder 11 to measure the temperature of the rubber material G in the cylinder 11. The results are shown in the "Temperature (°C)" column in Table 1. Note that the temperature of each example shown in Table 1 is the average value of temperatures measured in five independent experiments.
[0042] -Unreacted rate of silane coupling agent- The rubber strip produced in each example was analyzed using gas chromatography, and the amount of silane coupling agent in the rubber strip (amount of unreacted silane coupling agent) was calculated. The unreacted rate (%) of the silane coupling agent was calculated from the amount of silane coupling agent calculated here. The results are shown in the "Unreacted rate (%)" column in Table 1. The unreacted rate of each example shown in Table 1 is the average value of the unreacted rate calculated in five independent experiments.
[0043] [Table 1]
[0044] As shown in Table 1, in the examples using the extrusion device 100 equipped with the breaker plate 2 and the vent hole 5, it was found that the amount of heat generated by the rubber material G in the cylinder 11 was greater than in the comparative examples. Also, it was shown that the unreacted rate of the silane coupling agent was lower in the examples than in the comparative examples. From these findings, it was found that the use of the extrusion device 100 disclosed herein can improve the efficiency of removing by-products from the rubber material G.
