AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Conventional washing machines fail to determine the precise location of imbalance in the spin tub during the spin-drying cycle, leading to potential abnormal vibrations and inefficiencies in imbalance correction.

Method used

The washing machine is equipped with an acceleration sensor to detect vibrations in multiple axial directions, an imbalance detection unit to calculate displacement ratios, and a control device to determine the imbalance position based on these displacements, allowing for targeted imbalance correction operations.

Benefits of technology

This configuration enables precise determination of the imbalance location, facilitating efficient and targeted imbalance correction operations using minimal sensors, thereby improving operational stability and efficiency.

Abstract

To enable a position where an unbalance state of a rotary tub occurs to be determined, when the unbalance state occurs.SOLUTION: A washing machine according to the embodiment comprises: a water tub elastically supported in a body by an elastic support mechanism; a rotary tub arranged rotatably in the water tub; a drive mechanism including a motor for rotating the rotary tub; a control device controlling a washing operation; an acceleration sensor provided at the water tub, and detecting acceleration caused by the oscillation of the water tub regarding a plurality of axial directions; and an unbalance detection unit detecting an unbalance state of the rotary tub from the detection value of the acceleration sensor. The unbalance detection unit acquires a displacement amount in each axial direction of the water tub from the detection value of the acceleration sensor, and determines an unbalance position of the rotary tub based on the ratio between the acquired displacement amounts.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
