Abstract
Description
Electronic device for transmitting data and method of operation thereof
[0001] Various embodiments of the present disclosure relate to electronic devices and operating methods for transmitting data.
[0002] Bluetooth communication technology can support short-range wireless communication, allowing electronic devices to connect to each other for the exchange of data or information. Bluetooth communication technology can include Bluetooth Legacy (or Classic) communication technology or Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE or LE) communication technology, and can have various connection topologies, such as a piconet or scatternet.
[0003] The isochronous channel function is a function that transfers data between devices, and provides a method for transmitting and receiving data with the same source device and sink device synchronized in time.
[0004] Recently, electronic devices utilizing Bluetooth communication technology have become widely used. In particular, a pair of earbuds, each worn on a user's ear, are widely used as ear-wearable devices. Ear-wearable devices can provide various functions. For example, ear-wearable devices can include a microphone to identify the user's voice and transmit data about the user's voice to an electronic device (e.g., a smartphone). Furthermore, ear-wearable devices can include a speaker to output audio data received from an electronic device (e.g., a smartphone) through the speaker. For example, an ear-wearable device can transmit voice data to an electronic device through a connection, and the electronic device can output audio data (or audio content). Audio data can be managed by dividing it into individual CIS (Connected Isochronous Streams). This audio data can be output through a speaker.
[0005] Currently, isochronous streams allocate radio resources to ensure the reliability of audio data transmission. For example, when allocating radio resources for audio data transmission and reception, a large NSE (number of subevents) is set relative to the BN (burst number). This radio resource allocation is effective in cases where data retransmissions occur frequently. However, when the data transmission channel is in good condition, the radio resources allocated to the remaining subevents not used for retransmissions may enter sleep mode. In other words, when the transmission channel is in good condition, the current isochronous stream radio resource allocation method has the problem of increasing the number of unused radio resources, which can reduce the efficiency of data transmission.
[0006] Recently, in order to overcome these data transmission problems, electronic devices and their operating methods for transmitting data that can be used in good channel conditions are being discussed.
[0007] A data transmission method capable of efficiently transmitting data is needed. More specifically, the present disclosure provides an electronic device and an operating method thereof capable of effectively transmitting and receiving data exceeding the BN value.
[0008] One embodiment of the present disclosure provides an electronic device for transmitting data and a method of operating the same.

[0065] In the various embodiments described below, a case will be described where an electronic device (201) transmits data to two external electronic devices (202, 204). For example, the electronic device (201) may transmit sound data that may be provided to a user to external electronic device #1 (202) and / or external electronic device #2 (204).
[0066] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, external electronic device #1 (202) and / or external electronic device #2 (204) may be devices included in one set. For example, the devices included in one set may be devices that are each connected through a separate communication link and provide related functions to provide one integrated service (e.g., stereo sound output or 5.1 channel sound output). For example, external electronic device #1 (202) and external electronic device #2 (204) may be wireless earphone devices that operate as one set. In addition, external electronic device #1 (202) may be one of the left external device and the right external device, and external electronic device #2 (204) may be the other one of the left external device and the right external device. In one embodiment, when the external electronic device #1 (202) and the external electronic device #2 (204) are implemented as wireless earphones, the external electronic device #1 (202) and / or the external electronic device #2 (204) may each receive various data (e.g., data for synchronizing sound that can be output from the wireless earphones, data for adjusting sound, or a response signal corresponding to a signal transmitted by the electronic device (201)) from the electronic device (201).
[0067] In FIG. 2, an example in which an electronic device (201) is connected to two external electronic devices (202, 204) is described, but the present invention is not limited thereto, and the electronic device (201) may be connected to a variety of external electronic devices, including three or more. In addition, various embodiments may be applied to devices that receive data transmitted by the electronic device (201) as well as external devices, and other types of devices capable of wireless communication with the electronic device (201), such as smart phones, smart watches, or tablet PCs.
[0068] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, the electronic device (201) can establish a first communication link (link 1) to perform data communication with an external electronic device #1 (202). In one embodiment, the electronic device (201) can establish a second communication link (link 2) to perform data communication with an external electronic device #2 (204). In addition, the external electronic device #1 (202) and / or the external electronic device #2 (204) may be additionally connected via a separate third communication link (not shown) if necessary.
[0069] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, connection-oriented communication can be performed via the first communication link and the second communication link. Additionally, connectionless communication can be performed between the electronic device (201) and external electronic device #1 (202) and external electronic device #2 (204). The connection-oriented communication and connectionless communication can be performed via isochronous (ISO) channels.
[0070] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, in one embodiment, the electronic device (201) may receive various information (e.g., connection device information and / or device property information) from the external electronic device #1 (202) and / or the external electronic device #2 (204), and provide various user interfaces (e.g., notifications or control interfaces) through a display (e.g., the display module (160) of FIG. 1) based on the received information.
[0071] FIG. 3 illustrates an example of transmitting and receiving data between an electronic device and an external electronic device according to one embodiment of the present disclosure.
[0072] The audio data processing operation of an electronic device may be performed in the data processing layer, which may include an isochronous adaptation layer (ISOAL). ISOAL may provide segmentation, fragmentation, reassembly, and recombining services for transmitting audio data to upper layers or lower layers. For example, audio data may be processed according to specific data frames in the isochronous adaptation layer.
[0073] Data to be transmitted from an electronic device (e.g., a user terminal) to an external electronic device (e.g., an ear-worn wearable device) through an isochronous application layer can be managed as a plurality of connected isochronous stream (CIS) events. A CIS event can include data to be transmitted from the electronic device to an external electronic device connected to the electronic device. For example, the electronic device can transmit a CIS event containing audio data to an ear-worn wearable device connected to the electronic device. A CIS event can be divided into a plurality of subevents. The number of subevents can be preset and can also be referred to as the number of subevents (NSE). The intervals between each subevent can be the same.
[0074] FIG. 3 illustrates an example of data transmission and reception between an electronic device and an external electronic device when the number of sub-events that can be included in a CIS event is 4 (NSE=4), the BN (burst number) is 2, and the FT (flush timeout) is 4. However, the operations of the electronic device and the external electronic device described in FIG. 3 are not limited to the above conditions, and can be performed without considering the value of BN.
[0075] In Fig. 3, audio data can be transmitted and received by being divided into eight data packets in the isochronous application layer. For example, data in data frame 1 can be transmitted and received by being divided into eight data packets. For another example, in a situation where NSE is 4 and BN is 2 in Fig. 3, specific data is divided into eight data packets according to the frame, and the electronic device can transmit up to two data packets per CIS event to an external electronic device.
[0076] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, when an electronic device transmits data packets to an external electronic device according to an NSE and BN set for a CIS event, the electronic device can determine whether to receive additional data from the external electronic device. For example, in FIG. 3, the electronic device may transmit to the external electronic device information indicating that it can transmit not only two data packets but also an additional data packet according to the NSE and BN set for a CIS event. However, the electronic device may transmit information indicating that it can transmit additional data along with fewer data packets than the number of data packets corresponding to the BN value, without considering the set BN value. In this case, the information indicating that the additional data can be transmitted may mean that the electronic device has remaining radio resources to transmit the additional data packets to be transmitted to the external electronic device, and may also mean information indicating whether to receive additional data from the external electronic device. The information indicating that the additional data can be transmitted may be set based on the HMD (have more data) field value of the PDU (protocol data unit) header of the CIS event (e.g., FIG. 13 (b)). In one example, the electronic device may transmit information that it cannot transmit additional data to the external electronic device, rather than information that it can transmit additional data based on the HMD field values.
[0077] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, an electronic device may receive a response message for a data packet transmitted from an external electronic device. The response message may be an ACK message or a NACK message indicating whether the external electronic device has received the data packet transmitted by the electronic device. In one example, the ACK message or the NACK message may correspond to an ACK packet or a NACK packet, respectively. According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, the response message may include information regarding whether additional data is requested. The information regarding whether additional data is requested may indicate to the electronic device whether to request additional data using remaining wireless resources within a CIS event or not to request data. The information regarding whether additional data is requested may be set based on the value of the RMD (request more data) field of the PDU header of the CIS event (e.g., (b) of FIG. 13).
[0078] In one example, the electronic device may transmit two data packets (e.g., data packets corresponding to data packet numbers 0 and 1 of data frame 1 (301) of FIG. 3) to an external electronic device in a CIS 0 event X (310), and if the value of the HMD field in the PDU header of the CIS event is 1, the electronic device may transmit information indicating that additional data can be transmitted along with the data packets. The external electronic device may identify whether the capacity of its data buffer is sufficient to receive additional data based on the information received from the electronic device indicating that the additional data can be transmitted. If the capacity of the buffer for receiving the additional data is insufficient, the external electronic device may transmit a response message to the electronic device regarding the reception of data, including information indicating that the additional data cannot be received. In this case, the information indicating that the additional data cannot be received may correspond to a case where the value of the RMD field in the PDU header of the CIS event is 0. If two data packets are normally transmitted from the electronic device to the external electronic device, the electronic device may receive an ACK message for the transmitted data from the external electronic device, and the ACK message may include information indicating that no additional data is requested. In this case, the electronic device may not transmit additional data to the external electronic device within the CIS 0 event X (310). Similarly to the case of the CIS 0 event X (310) of FIG. 3, the CIS 0 event X+2 (330) may transmit information indicating that the electronic device may transmit additional data from the external electronic device together with the two data packets. If the electronic device subsequently receives an ACK message together with information indicating that no additional data is requested from the external electronic device, the electronic device may not transmit additional data to the external electronic device within the CIS 0 event X+2 (330).
[0079] In one example, when an electronic device transmits two data packets (e.g., data packets corresponding to data packet numbers 2 and 3 of data frame 1 (301) of FIG. 3) to an external electronic device in a CIS 0 event X+1 (320), if the HMD field value in the PDU header of the CIS event is 1, the electronic device can determine whether to receive additional data. The external electronic device can identify whether the capacity of the data buffer is sufficient to receive additional data based on the information received from the electronic device asking whether to receive additional data. If the external electronic device determines that the capacity of the data buffer is sufficient to receive the additional data, the electronic device can transmit a response message to the electronic device including information requesting the additional data. At this time, the information requesting the additional data may correspond to a case where the RMD field value in the PDU header of the CIS event is 1. If two data packets are normally transmitted from the electronic device to the external electronic device, the electronic device can receive an ACK message for the transmitted data from the external electronic device, and the ACK message can include information requesting the additional data. The electronic device may additionally allocate data packets to the external electronic device based on the information requesting additional data, up to the maximum number of data packets that can be allocated in CIS 0 event X+1 (320). For example, when NSE in FIG. 3 is 4, the electronic device may additionally transmit two data packets (e.g., data packets corresponding to data packet numbers 4 and 5 of data frame 1 (301) in FIG. 3) to the external electronic device in addition to the two data packets already transmitted to the external electronic device.
[0080] In one example, when the electronic device transmits two data packets (e.g., data packets corresponding to data packet numbers 0 and 1 of data frame 2 (303) of FIG. 3) to an external electronic device in CIS 0 event X+3 (340), if the HMD field value in the PDU header of the CIS event is 1, the electronic device can determine whether to receive additional data. If the external electronic device determines that it can receive additional data, the external electronic device can transmit a response message to the electronic device including information requesting additional data. At this time, the information requesting additional data may correspond to the case where the RMD field value in the PDU header of the CIS event is 1. If the two data packets are normally transmitted from the electronic device to the external electronic device, the electronic device can receive an ACK message for the transmitted data from the external electronic device, and the ACK message can include information requesting additional data. Based on the information requesting additional data, the electronic device can additionally allocate as many data packets as can be allocated at most in CIS 0 event X+3 (340) to the external electronic device and transmit the data packets to the external electronic device. For example, if NSE of FIG. 3 is 4, the electronic device can transmit two additional data packets to the external electronic device in addition to the two data packets already transmitted to the external electronic device. However, if a NACK message is received from the external electronic device for the additionally transmitted data packet (e.g., the data packet corresponding to data packet number 2 of data frame 2 (303) of FIG. 3), the electronic device can retransmit the data packet within the limit of data packets within the wireless resources that can be additionally transmitted based on the NACK message. Accordingly, the external electronic device can receive the data packet for which the electronic device transmitted the NACK message.
[0081] FIG. 4 illustrates an example of transmitting and receiving data between an electronic device and an external electronic device according to one embodiment of the present disclosure.
[0082] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, when an electronic device transmits data packets to an external electronic device, the electronic device can determine whether to receive additional data from the external electronic device. For example, in FIG. 4, the electronic device can transmit to the external electronic device information indicating that it can transmit not only two data packets but also an additional data packet based on the NSE and BN set in a CIS event. In this case, the information indicating that the additional data can be transmitted may mean that the electronic device has remaining radio resources to transmit the additional data packets to be transmitted to the external electronic device, and may also mean information indicating whether to receive additional data from the external electronic device. The information indicating that the additional data can be transmitted may be set based on the HMD (have more data) field value of the PDU header of the CIS event (e.g., (b) of FIG. 13). In one example, the electronic device may transmit information indicating that it cannot transmit additional data to the external electronic device, rather than information indicating that it can transmit additional data based on the HMD field value.
[0083] An electronic device can receive a response message for a data packet transmitted from an external electronic device. The response message may be an ACK message or a NACK message indicating whether the external electronic device has normally received the data packet from the electronic device. 13).
[0084] In one example, the electronic device may transmit two data packets (e.g., data packets corresponding to data packet numbers 0 and 1 of data frame 1 (401) of FIG. 4) to an external electronic device in each of CIS 0 event X (410), and if the value of the HMD field in the PDU header of the CIS event is 1, the electronic device may determine whether to receive additional data. The external electronic device may identify whether the capacity of the data buffer is sufficient to receive additional data based on the information inquiring whether to receive additional data received from the electronic device. If the external electronic device determines that the capacity of the data buffer is sufficient to receive the additional data, the electronic device may transmit a response message to the electronic device including information requesting additional data. In this case, the information requesting additional data may correspond to a case where the value of the RMD field in the CIS PDU header is 1. When two data packets are normally transmitted from the electronic device to the external electronic device, the electronic device can receive an ACK message for the transmitted data from the external electronic device, and the ACK message can include information requesting additional data. Based on the information requesting additional data, the electronic device can additionally allocate data packets to the external electronic device as many as the maximum number of data packets that can be allocated in the CIS 0 event X (410). For example, when NSE of FIG. 4 is 4, the electronic device can additionally transmit two data packets (e.g., data packets corresponding to data packet numbers 2 and 3 of data frame 1 (401) of FIG. 4) to the external electronic device in addition to the two data packets already transmitted to the external electronic device. In the case of CIS 0 event X+3 (440), similarly to the case of CIS 0 event X (410), the electronic device may determine whether to receive additional data from the external electronic device, receive a message requesting additional data from the external electronic device, and transmit two additional data packets (e.g., data packets corresponding to data packet numbers 2 and 3 of data frame 2 (403) of FIG. 4) to the external electronic device in addition to two data packets (e.g., data packets corresponding to data packet numbers 0 and 1 of data frame 2 (403) of FIG. 4) already transmitted to the external electronic device.
[0085] In one example, for CIS 0 event X+1 (420), the electronic device may determine whether to receive additional data from the external electronic device and may receive a message requesting additional data from the external electronic device. At this time, if the electronic device receives a NACK message for an additional data packet (e.g., a data packet corresponding to data packet number 6 of data frame 1 (401) of FIG. 4) from the external device, the electronic device may retransmit the data packet based on the NACK message.
[0086] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, an electronic device can determine whether to receive additional data from an external electronic device without considering the value of BN. Specifically, the electronic device can first transmit a data packet corresponding to the value of BN. At this time, the electronic device may not determine whether to receive additional data from the external electronic device. Thereafter, the electronic device can determine whether to receive additional data from the external electronic device while transmitting a data packet smaller than the data packet corresponding to the value of BN. For example, in CIS 0 event X+2 (430) of FIG. 4, even when the value of BN is 2, the electronic device can determine whether to receive additional data when transmitting the first data packet within CIS 0 event X+2 (430) to the external electronic device (e.g., the data packet corresponding to data packet number 7 of data frame 1 (401) of FIG. 4). Thereafter, the electronic device can receive a response message for the data packet transmitted from the external electronic device. The response message may be an ACK message or a NACK message indicating whether the external electronic device has received the data packet transmitted by the electronic device. According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, the response message may include information on whether additional data is requested. The information on whether additional data is requested may indicate to the electronic device whether to request additional data using the remaining wireless resources within a CIS event or not. For example, in CIS 0 event X+2 (430) of FIG. 4, the electronic device may receive an ACK message from the external electronic device for the data packet transmitted by the electronic device, and the ACK message may include information indicating that additional data is not requested. At this time, the electronic device may not transmit an additional data packet to the external electronic device within CIS 0 event X+2 (430) based on the ACK message. An external electronic device may enter sleep mode after transmitting an ACK message to the electronic device, including information that no additional data is requested. Sleep mode may be initiated based on a value of 0 in the RMD field in the PDU header of a CIS event.
[0087] FIG. 5 illustrates an example of transmitting and receiving data between an electronic device and an external electronic device according to one embodiment of the present disclosure.
[0088] FIG. 5 illustrates an example of data transmission and reception between an electronic device and an external electronic device when the number of sub-events that can be included in a CIS event is 4 (NSE=4), the BN (burst number) is 2, and the FT (flush timeout) is 4. However, the operations of the electronic device and the external electronic device described in FIG. 5 are not limited to the above conditions, and can be performed without considering the value of BN.
[0089] In Fig. 5, specific codec data can be divided into eight data packets and transmitted and received in the isochronous application layer. For example, data in data frame 1 can be divided into eight data packets and transmitted and received. For another example, in a situation where NSE is 4 and BN is 2 in Fig. 3, data is divided into eight data packets according to the frame, and the electronic device can transmit up to two data packets per CIS event to an external electronic device.
[0090] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, when an electronic device transmits data packets to an external electronic device, the electronic device can determine whether to receive additional data from the external electronic device. For example, in FIG. 5, the electronic device can transmit to the external electronic device not only two data packets but also information indicating that it can transmit an additional data packet, based on the NSE and BN set for a CIS event. In this case, the information indicating that the additional data can be transmitted may mean that the electronic device has remaining radio resources to transmit the additional data packets to be transmitted to the external electronic device, and may also mean information indicating whether to receive additional data from the external electronic device. However, the electronic device may transmit the information indicating that it can transmit additional data along with fewer data packets than the number of data packets corresponding to the BN value, without considering the set BN value. The information indicating that it can transmit additional data may be set based on the eMD (expected more data) field value of the PDU header of the CIS event (e.g., FIG. 13 (c)).
[0091] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, an electronic device can receive a response message for a data packet transmitted from an external electronic device. The response message may be an ACK message or a NACK message indicating whether the external electronic device has received the data packet transmitted by the electronic device. According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, the response message may include information regarding whether additional data is requested. The information regarding whether additional data is requested may indicate to the electronic device whether to request additional data using remaining wireless resources within a CIS event or not to request data. The information regarding whether additional data is requested may be set based on the eMD field value of the PDU header of the CIS event (e.g., (c) of FIG. 13) in the same manner as the information regarding whether additional data can be transmitted.
[0092] In one example, an electronic device may transmit one data packet (e.g., a data packet corresponding to data packet number 0 of data frame 1 (501) of FIG. 5) to an external electronic device in a CIS 0 event X (510), and if the eMD field value in the PDU header of the CIS event is 1, information indicating that additional data can be transmitted together with the data packet may be transmitted. The external electronic device may determine whether the capacity of a data buffer is sufficient to receive additional data based on the information received from the electronic device indicating that additional data can be transmitted. If the external electronic device determines that the capacity of the data buffer is sufficient to receive the additional data, the external electronic device may transmit a response message to the electronic device including information requesting the additional data. At this time, the information requesting the additional data may correspond to a case where the eMD field value in the PDU header of the CIS event is 1. If one data packet is normally transmitted from the electronic device to the external electronic device, the electronic device may receive an ACK message for the transmitted data from the external electronic device, and the ACK message may include information requesting the additional data. The electronic device may additionally allocate data packets to the external electronic device based on the information requesting additional data, up to the maximum number of data packets that can be allocated in CIS 0 event X (510) to the external electronic device, and transmit the data packets to the external electronic device. For example, when NSE of FIG. 5 is 4, the electronic device may additionally transmit three data packets (e.g., data packets corresponding to data packet numbers 1, 2, and 3 of data frame 1 (501) of FIG. 5) to the external electronic device in addition to the one data packet already transmitted to the external electronic device.Meanwhile, the case of CIS 0 event X+3 (540) of FIG. 5 illustrates a case where the electronic device transmits information to an external electronic device that it can transmit additional data along with two data packets corresponding to the value of BN, and receives information requesting additional data from the external electronic device similarly to the case of CIS 0 event X (510). In this case, the electronic device may additionally transmit two data packets (e.g., data packets corresponding to data packet numbers 2 and 3 of data frame 2 (503) of FIG. 5) in addition to the two data packets transmitted to the external electronic device (e.g., data packets corresponding to data packet numbers 0 and 1 of data frame 2 (503) of FIG. 5).
[0093] In one example, for CIS 0 event X+1 (520), the electronic device may determine whether to receive additional data from the external electronic device and may receive a message requesting additional data from the external electronic device. At this time, if the electronic device receives a NACK message for an additional data packet (e.g., a data packet corresponding to data packet number 6 of data frame 1 (501) of FIG. 5) from the external device, the electronic device may retransmit the data packet based on the NACK message.
[0094] In one example, in CIS 0 event X+2 (530) of FIG. 5, when the electronic device transmits the first data packet (e.g., the data packet corresponding to data packet number 7 of data frame 1 (501) of FIG. 5) within the CIS 0 event X+2 (530) to the external electronic device, the electronic device may determine whether to receive additional data. Thereafter, the electronic device may receive a response message for the data packet transmitted from the external electronic device. The response message may be an ACK message or a NACK message indicating whether the external electronic device has received the data packet transmitted by the electronic device. According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, the response message may include information regarding whether additional data is requested. The information regarding whether additional data is requested may indicate to the electronic device whether to request additional data using the remaining wireless resources within one CIS event or not to request additional data. For example, in CIS 0 event X+2 (530) of FIG. 5, the electronic device may receive an ACK message from an external electronic device for a data packet transmitted by the electronic device, and the ACK message may include information indicating that no additional data is requested. At this time, the electronic device may not transmit an additional data packet to the external electronic device within CIS 0 event X+2 (530) based on the ACK message. After the external electronic device transmits an ACK message including information indicating that no additional data is requested to the electronic device, the electronic device may enter a sleep mode. The sleep mode may be based on a case where the eMD field value in the PDU header of the CIS event is 0.
[0095] FIG. 6 illustrates an example of transmitting and receiving data between an electronic device and an external electronic device according to one embodiment of the present disclosure.
[0096] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, when an electronic device transmits data packets to an external electronic device, the electronic device can determine whether to receive additional data from the external electronic device. For example, in FIG. 6, the electronic device can transmit to the external electronic device information indicating that it can transmit not only two data packets but also an additional data packet, based on the NSE and BN set for a CIS event. In this case, the information indicating that the additional data can be transmitted may mean that the electronic device has remaining radio resources to transmit the additional data packets to be transmitted to the external electronic device, and may also mean information indicating whether to receive additional data from the external electronic device. However, the electronic device may transmit the information indicating that the additional data can be transmitted along with fewer data packets than the number of data packets corresponding to the BN value, without considering the set BN value. The information indicating that the additional data can be transmitted may be set based on the eMD (expected more data) field value of the PDU header of the CIS event (e.g., FIG. 13 (c)).
[0097] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, an electronic device can receive a response message for a data packet transmitted from an external electronic device.
[0098] Meanwhile, the operation of transmitting and receiving data in CIS 0 event X (610) is the same as the operation of transmitting and receiving data in CIS 0 event X (510) of FIG. 5. In addition, the operation of transmitting and receiving data in CIS 0 event X+1 (620) is the same as the operation of transmitting and receiving data in CIS 0 event X+1 (520) of FIG. 5, so the description of the operation of transmitting and receiving data between the electronic device and the external electronic device in CIS 0 event X (610) and CIS 0 event X+1 (620) is omitted.
[0099] In one example, in CIS 0 event X+2 (630) of FIG. 6, the electronic device may transmit information to the external electronic device that enables transmission of additional data together with the first data packet in the CIS 0 event X+2 (630) (e.g., the data packet corresponding to data packet number 7 of data frame 1 (601) of FIG. 6). Thereafter, the electronic device may receive an ACK message for the data packet transmitted from the external electronic device. The ACK message may include information requesting additional data. In this case, the information requesting additional data may correspond to a case where the eMD field value in the PDU header of the CIS event is 1. Based on the information requesting additional data, the electronic device may additionally allocate data packets to the external electronic device in the amount of data packets that can be allocated at most in CIS 0 event X+2 (630) and transmit the data packets to the external electronic device. For example, if NSE of FIG. 6 is 4, the electronic device can transmit three additional data packets (e.g., data packets corresponding to data packet numbers 0, 1, and 2 of data frame 2 (603) of FIG. 6) to the external electronic device in addition to one data packet already transmitted to the external electronic device.
[0100] In one example, if an electronic device transmits data to an external electronic device, but the external electronic device fails to receive the data, or the electronic device does not receive an ACK packet from the external electronic device, the electronic device may retransmit the previously transmitted data to the external electronic device. For example, in a CIS 0 event (X+3) (640), the electronic device may transmit two data packets (e.g., data packets corresponding to data packet numbers 2 and 3 of data frame 2 (603) of FIG. 6) to the external electronic device, but some of the data packets (data packets corresponding to data packet number 3 of FIG. 6) may fail to be transmitted to the external device, or the electronic device may fail to receive an ACK packet from the external electronic device. In this case, the electronic device may retransmit the corresponding data packets.
[0101] FIG. 7 illustrates an example of transmitting and receiving data between an electronic device and an external electronic device according to one embodiment of the present disclosure. Specifically, FIG. 7 illustrates a case of transmitting and receiving UHQ (ultra high quality) audio data between an electronic device and an external electronic device.
[0102] UHQ audio data refers to 96kHz / 24bit audio packets and can have more than twice the amount of data compared to the commonly used 44.1kHz / 16bit audio format. Fig. 7 illustrates an example of the data packet payload of UHQ audio. For example, the size of a frame of UHQ audio data can be approximately 3400 bytes. The size of a frame of UHQ audio data can indicate the size of one 10ms long frame that can be processed by a codec.
[0103] Referring to FIG. 7, a CIG event may include a CIS 0 event X and a CIS 1 event X. Specifically, the data configuration in the CIS 0 event X (710) and the CIS 1 event X (720) in FIG. 7 illustrates a case where data may be configured with sub-events (713, 715, 723, 725) of the same length. For example, in the CIS 0 event X (710) and the CIS 1 event X (720), if the number of sub-events is 2 (NSE=2), audio data may be configured with 2 data of the same sub-events, each of which is 4,000 bytes in each CIS event.
[0104] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, when an electronic device transmits data packets to an external electronic device, the electronic device can determine whether to receive additional data from the external electronic device. For example, the electronic device can configure a sub-event included in a CIS event to include data packets, and when transmitting a sub-event including these data packets, the electronic device can also transmit information indicating that additional data can be transmitted. In this case, the information indicating that additional data can be transmitted may mean that the electronic device has remaining radio resources to transmit additional data packets to be transmitted to the external electronic device, and may also mean information indicating whether to receive additional data from the external electronic device. The information indicating that additional data can be transmitted may be set based on the value of the HMD (have more data) field of the PDU header. In one example, the electronic device may transmit information indicating that additional data cannot be transmitted to the external electronic device, rather than information indicating that additional data can be transmitted, based on the value of the HMD field.
[0105] An electronic device may receive a response message for a data packet included in a sub-event transmitted from an external electronic device. The response message may be an ACK message or a NACK message indicating whether the external electronic device has normally received the data packet from the electronic device. According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, the response message may include information regarding whether additional data is requested. The information regarding whether additional data is requested may indicate to the electronic device whether to request additional data using remaining wireless resources within a CIS event or not to request data. The information regarding whether additional data is requested may be set based on the value of the RMD (request more data) field of the PDU header.
[0106] In one example, the electronic device of FIG. 7 may transmit data packets to an external electronic device by including them in the first sub-event (713) in the CIS 0 event X (710), and, when the value of the HMD field in the PDU header is 0, may transmit information indicating that additional data cannot be transmitted together. Accordingly, the electronic device may receive information indicating that additional data is not requested along with an ACK message for the data packets transmitted from the external electronic device. At this time, the information indicating that additional data is not requested may correspond to a case where the value of the RMD field in the PDU header is 0. Based on the information indicating that additional data is not requested received from the external device, the electronic device may not transmit data using the second sub-event (715).
[0107] In one example, the electronic device of FIG. 7 may transmit data packets to an external electronic device by including them in the first sub-event (723) in the CIS 1 event X (720), and, if the HMD field value in the PDU header is 1, may also transmit information indicating that additional data can be transmitted. Thereafter, the external electronic device may identify whether the capacity of the data buffer is sufficient to receive additional data based on the information asking whether to receive additional data received from the electronic device. If the external electronic device determines that the capacity of the data buffer is sufficient to receive the additional data, the external electronic device may transmit a response message to the electronic device including information requesting additional data. At this time, the information requesting additional data may correspond to a case where the RMD field value in the PDU header is 1. If the data packets included in the first sub-event (723) are normally transmitted from the electronic device to the external electronic device, the electronic device may receive an ACK message for the transmitted data from the external electronic device, and the ACK message may include information requesting additional data. The electronic device may additionally allocate data packets to the second sub-event (725) that is not being used in the CIS 1 event X (720) to transmit them to the external electronic device based on the information requesting additional data. For example, in FIG. 7, the electronic device may additionally transmit data of payload 2 and payload 3 corresponding to UHQ frame 2 (703) to the external electronic device in addition to data of payload 0 and payload 1 corresponding to UHQ frame 1 (701) already transmitted to the external electronic device. At this time, the electronic device may also transmit information indicating that it can no longer transmit additional data, and accordingly, the electronic device may also receive information indicating that no additional data is requested together with an ACK message for data of payload 2 and payload 3 transmitted from the external electronic device.
[0108] FIG. 8 illustrates an example of transmitting and receiving data between an electronic device and an external electronic device according to one embodiment of the present disclosure. Specifically, FIG. 8 illustrates a case in which audio data of UHQ is transmitted and received between an electronic device and an external electronic device, as in FIG. 7.
[0109] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, when an electronic device transmits information indicating that it can transmit additional data together with data to an external electronic device, but does not receive an ACK message for the data transmitted from the external electronic device, the previously transmitted data may be retransmitted. For example, the electronic device of FIG. 8 may transmit data to the external electronic device by including the data in the first sub-event (813) of the two sub-events set in the CIS 0 event X (810). At this time, the data included in the first sub-event (813) may be data of payload 0, 1 corresponding to UHQ frame 1 (801). When the electronic device transmits data to the external electronic device using the first sub-event (813), the information indicating that additional data can be transmitted may be transmitted together. The information indicating that additional data can be transmitted may be set based on the value of the HMD (have more data) field of the PDU header. However, if the electronic device does not receive a response message from the external electronic device due to a reason such as loss of the ACK message, the electronic device may retransmit previously transmitted data rather than additional data. For example, if the electronic device of FIG. 8 transmits data of payloads 0 and 1 corresponding to UHQ frame 1 (801) using the first sub-event (813), but does not receive a response message from the external electronic device, the electronic device may retransmit data of payloads 0 and 1 corresponding to UHQ frame 1 (801) to the external electronic device using the second sub-event (815).
[0110] When retransmitting data transmitted in the first sub-event (813) using the second sub-event (815), the electronic device may transmit the data together with information indicating that additional data cannot be transmitted. In this case, the information indicating that additional data cannot be transmitted may correspond to a case where the HMD field value of the PDU header is 0. Thereafter, the electronic device may receive from an external electronic device an ACK message for the data transmitted using the second sub-event, along with information indicating that additional data cannot be received. In this case, the information indicating that additional data cannot be received may correspond to a case where the RMD field value of the PDU header is 0.
[0111] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, when an electronic device transmits information indicating that it can transmit additional data together with data to an external electronic device, but receives a NACK message for some of the data transmitted from the external electronic device, the electronic device may retransmit the data indicated in the NACK message to the external electronic device. For example, the electronic device of FIG. 8 may transmit data to the external electronic device by including the data in the first sub-event (823) of the two sub-events set in the CIS 1 event X (820). At this time, the data included in the first sub-event (823) may be data of payloads 2 and 3 corresponding to UHQ frame 2 (803). When the electronic device transmits data to the external electronic device using the first sub-event (823), it may also transmit information indicating that it can transmit additional data. The information indicating that it can transmit additional data may be set based on the HMD field value of the CIS PDU header. However, if the electronic device receives a NACK message for data corresponding to data packet numbers 1, 2, and 3 of payload 2 and data corresponding to data packet numbers 5, 6, and 7 of payload 3 from an external electronic device, the electronic device may retransmit the data for which the NACK message was received, rather than additional data. That is, if the electronic device of FIG. 8 transmits data of payloads 2 and 3 corresponding to UHQ frame 2 (803) using the first sub-event (823), but receives a NACK message for data corresponding to data packet numbers 1, 2, and 3 of payload 2 and data corresponding to data packet numbers 5, 6, and 7 of payload 3 from an external electronic device, the electronic device can retransmit data corresponding to data packet numbers 1, 2, and 3 of payload 2 corresponding to UHQ frame 2 (803) and data corresponding to data packet numbers 5, 6, and 7 of payload 3 to the external electronic device using the second sub-event (825).
[0112] When retransmitting data using the second sub-event (825), the electronic device may transmit the data along with information indicating that it can no longer transmit additional data. In this case, the information indicating that it can no longer transmit additional data may correspond to a case where the HMD field value of the CIS PDU header is 0. The electronic device may determine that it will not send additional data because the remaining data space within the second sub-event is small, and may transmit information indicating that it can no longer transmit the additional data. Thereafter, the electronic device may receive an ACK message for the data transmitted using the second sub-event from an external electronic device, along with information indicating that it can no longer receive additional data. In this case, the information indicating that it can no longer receive additional data may correspond to a case where the RMD field value of the CIS PDU header is 0.
[0113] FIG. 9 illustrates an example of transmitting and receiving data between an electronic device and an external electronic device according to one embodiment of the present disclosure. Specifically, FIG. 9 illustrates a case of transmitting and receiving UHQ audio data between an electronic device and an external electronic device.
[0114] Referring to FIG. 9, a CIG event X may include a CIS 0 event X (910) and a CIS 1 event X (920). Specifically, the data configuration in the CIS 0 event X (910) and the CIS 1 event X (920) in FIG. 9 illustrates a case where data may be configured with sub-events (913, 915, 923, 925) of the same length. For example, in the CIS 0 event X (910) and the CIS 1 event X (920), if the number of sub-events is 2 (NSE=2), the audio data may be configured with 2 identical sub-events, each of which is 4,000 bytes, for each CIS event.
[0115] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, when an electronic device transmits data packets to an external electronic device, the electronic device can determine whether or not to receive additional data from the external electronic device. For example, the electronic device can configure a sub-event included in a CIS event to include data packets, and can transmit information indicating that additional data can be transmitted while transmitting the sub-event including these data packets. In this case, the information indicating that additional data can be transmitted may mean that the electronic device has remaining radio resources to transmit additional data packets to be transmitted to the external electronic device, and may also mean information indicating whether or not additional data can be received from the external electronic device. The information indicating that additional data can be transmitted may be set based on the eMD (expected more data) field value of the CIS PDU header. In one example, the electronic device may transmit information indicating that additional data cannot be transmitted to the external electronic device, rather than information indicating that additional data can be transmitted, based on the eMD field value.
[0116] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, an electronic device can receive a response message for a data packet included in a sub-event transmitted from an external electronic device. The information regarding whether additional data is requested may also be set based on the value of the eMD (request more data) field of the PDU header.
[0117] In one example, the electronic device of FIG. 9 may transmit data packets to an external electronic device by including them in the first sub-event (913) in the CIS 0 event X (910), and, when the eMD field value in the PDU header is 0, may transmit information indicating that additional data cannot be transmitted together. Accordingly, the electronic device may receive information indicating that additional data is not requested along with an ACK message for the data packets transmitted from the external electronic device. At this time, the information indicating that additional data is not requested may correspond to a case where the eMD field value in the PDU header is 0. Based on the information indicating that additional data is not requested received from the external device, the electronic device may not transmit data using the second sub-event (915).
[0118] In one example, the electronic device of FIG. 9 may transmit data packets to an external electronic device by including them in the first sub-event (923) in the CIS 1 event X (920), and, if the eMD field value in the PDU header is 1, may also transmit information indicating that additional data can be transmitted. Thereafter, the external electronic device may identify whether the capacity of the data buffer is sufficient to receive additional data based on the information asking whether to receive additional data received from the electronic device. If the external electronic device determines that the capacity of the data buffer is sufficient to receive the additional data, the external electronic device may transmit a response message to the electronic device including information requesting the additional data. At this time, the information requesting the additional data may correspond to the case where the eMD field value in the PDU header is 1. If the data packets included in the first sub-event (923) are normally transmitted from the electronic device to the external electronic device, the electronic device may receive an ACK message for the transmitted data from the external electronic device, and the ACK message may include information requesting the additional data. The electronic device may additionally allocate data packets to the second sub-event (925) that is not being used in the CIS 1 event X (920) to transmit them to the external electronic device based on the information requesting additional data. For example, in FIG. 7, the electronic device may additionally transmit data of payload 2 and payload 3 corresponding to UHQ frame 2 (903) to the external electronic device in addition to data of payload 0 and payload 1 corresponding to UHQ frame 1 (901) already transmitted to the external electronic device. At this time, the electronic device may also transmit information indicating that it can no longer transmit additional data, and accordingly, the electronic device may also receive information indicating that no additional data is requested together with an ACK message for data of payload 2 and payload 3 transmitted from the external electronic device.
[0119] FIG. 10 illustrates an example of transmitting and receiving data between an electronic device and an external electronic device according to one embodiment of the present disclosure. FIG. 10 illustrates a case in which, as in FIG. 8, the electronic device fails to receive an ACK message for data transmitted from an external electronic device, or receives a NACK message for some data.
[0120] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, when an electronic device transmits information indicating that it can transmit additional data together with data to an external electronic device, but does not receive an ACK message for the data transmitted from the external electronic device, the previously transmitted data may be retransmitted. For example, the electronic device of FIG. 10 may transmit data to the external electronic device by including the data in the first sub-event (1013) of the two sub-events set in the CIS 0 event X (1010). At this time, the data included in the first sub-event (1013) may be data of payload 0, 1 corresponding to UHQ frame 1 (1001). When the electronic device transmits data to the external electronic device using the first sub-event (1013), the information indicating that additional data can be transmitted may be transmitted together. The information indicating that additional data can be transmitted may be set based on the HMD field value of the CIS PDU header. However, if the electronic device does not receive a response message from the external electronic device due to reasons such as loss of the ACK message, the electronic device may retransmit previously transmitted data rather than additional data. For example, if the electronic device of FIG. 10 transmits data of payloads 0 and 1 corresponding to UHQ frame 1 (1001) using the first sub-event (1013), but does not receive a response message from the external electronic device, the electronic device may retransmit data of payloads 0 and 1 corresponding to UHQ frame 1 (1001) to the external electronic device using the second sub-event (1015).
[0121] When retransmitting data transmitted in the first sub-event (1013) using the second sub-event (1015), the electronic device may transmit the data along with information indicating that no additional data can be transmitted. In this case, the information indicating that no additional data can be transmitted may correspond to a case where the HMD field of the PDU header has a value of 0. Thereafter, the electronic device may receive from an external electronic device an ACK message for the data transmitted using the second sub-event, along with information indicating that no additional data can be received. In this case, the information indicating that no additional data can be received may correspond to a case where the RMD field of the PDU header has a value of 0.
[0122] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, when an electronic device transmits information indicating that it can transmit additional data together with data to an external electronic device, but receives a NACK message for some of the data transmitted from the external electronic device, the electronic device may retransmit the data indicated in the NACK message to the external electronic device. For example, the electronic device of FIG. 10 may transmit data to the external electronic device by including the data in the first sub-event (1023) of the two sub-events set in the CIS 1 event X (1020). At this time, the data included in the first sub-event (1023) may be data of payloads 2 and 3 corresponding to UHQ frame 2 (1003). When the electronic device transmits data to the external electronic device using the first sub-event (1023), it may also transmit information indicating that it can transmit additional data. 10 transmits data of payloads 2 and 3 corresponding to UHQ frame 2 (1003) using the first sub-event (823), but receives a NACK message for data corresponding to data packet numbers 1, 2, and 3 of payload 2 and data corresponding to data packet numbers 5, 6, and 7 of payload 3 from an external electronic device, the electronic device can retransmit data corresponding to data packet numbers 1, 2, and 3 of payload 2 corresponding to UHQ frame 2 (1003) and data corresponding to data packet numbers 5, 6, and 7 of payload 3 to the external electronic device using the second sub-event (1025).
[0123] When retransmitting data using the second sub-event (1025), the electronic device may transmit the data along with information indicating that it can no longer transmit additional data. In this case, the information indicating that it can no longer transmit additional data may correspond to a case where the HMD field value of the PDU header is 0. In this case, the information indicating that it can no longer receive additional data may correspond to a case where the RMD field value of the PDU header is 0.
[0124] FIG. 11 illustrates an example of transmitting and receiving data between an electronic device and an external electronic device according to one embodiment of the present disclosure. Specifically, FIG. 11 illustrates a case in which UHQ (ultra high quality) audio data is transmitted and received between an electronic device and an external electronic device using a secondary offset (SO).
[0125] Data to be transmitted from an electronic device to an external electronic device may be divided into a plurality of subevents. According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, subevents included in a CIS event may be divided into a primary subevent or a secondary subevent according to the order. For example, in FIG. 11, a CIS 0 event X (1110) or a CIS 1 event (1120) may each be composed of two subevents, and the first subevent among the two subevents may be composed of a primary subevent, and the second subevent may be composed of a secondary subevent.
[0126] An electronic device may determine a secondary offset (S0) to be transferred from a secondary sub-event to a primary sub-event. S0 represents the amount of data transferred from the secondary sub-event to the primary sub-event, and the length of SO may represent the length of a sub-event that accommodates the data to be transferred from the secondary sub-event to the primary sub-event. According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, the electronic device may update the primary and secondary sub-events by decreasing the length of the secondary sub-event by the determined SO and increasing the length of the primary sub-event by the determined SO. Accordingly, the lengths of the primary and secondary sub-events may not be identical, and the amounts of data included in the primary and secondary sub-events may be different.
[0127] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, the length of the SO may be determined by considering the length of the sub-event, a value corresponding to a portion of the ratio unit of the length of the sub-event (e.g., 0.05 (1 / 20), 0.1 (1 / 10)), or a value indicating how many of the corresponding ratio units are to be sent (e.g., 4 bits or 3 bits). The length of the sub-event may refer to the length when the primary event and the secondary event are of the same sub-event length before being updated, and may be a value predetermined by the electronic device. The length of the sub-event may also be referred to as, for example, sub-event spacing.
[0128] Referring to FIG. 11, the sub-events included in the CIS 0 event X (1110) can be divided into a first sub-event and a second sub-event, respectively, and the electronic device can update each sub-event by adding data indicated by the SO (1117) determined to the first sub-event and subtracting data indicated by the SO to the second sub-event. The updated first sub-event (1113) and the updated second sub-event (1115) can include data to be transmitted by the electronic device to an external electronic device. For example, a larger amount of data can be included and transmitted in the updated first sub-event (1113) than in the updated second sub-event (1115). For example, if the number of sub-events is 2 in CIS 0 event X (1110) or CIS 1 event (1120), and SO is determined to be 1,200 bytes in the same sub-event, each of which is 4,000 bytes, the first sub-event may be increased from 4,000 bytes to 5,200 bytes, and the second sub-event may be decreased from 4,000 bytes to 2,800 bytes.
[0129] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, when an electronic device transmits data packets to an external electronic device using a sub-event updated according to an SO, the electronic device can determine whether to receive additional data from the external electronic device. For example, the electronic device can configure a sub-event included in a CIS event to include data packets, and can transmit information indicating that additional data can be transmitted while transmitting the sub-event including these data packets. In this case, the information indicating that additional data can be transmitted may mean that the electronic device has remaining radio resources to transmit additional data packets to be transmitted to the external electronic device, and may also mean information indicating whether to receive additional data from the external electronic device. The information indicating that additional data can be transmitted may be set based on the HMD (have more data) field value of the CIS PDU header. In one example, the electronic device may transmit information indicating that additional data cannot be transmitted to the external electronic device, rather than information indicating that additional data can be transmitted, based on the HMD field value.
[0130] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, an electronic device can receive a response message for a data packet included in a sub-event transmitted from an external electronic device.
[0131] In one example, the electronic device of FIG. 11 may transmit payloads to an external electronic device in a primary sub-event (1113) updated in a CIS 0 event X (1110), and, when the HMD field value in the PDU header is 0, may transmit information indicating that additional data cannot be transmitted together. At this time, the payload included in the updated primary sub-event (1113) of 5,200 bytes may be data corresponding to payloads 0 and 1 of UHQ frame 1 (1101) and data corresponding to payload 2 of UHQ frame 2 (1103). Accordingly, the electronic device may receive information indicating that additional data is not requested along with an ACK message for data packets transmitted from the external electronic device. At this time, the information indicating that additional data is not requested may correspond to a case where the RMD field value in the PDU header is 0. The electronic device may not transmit data using the updated secondary sub-event (1115) of 2,800 bytes based on information that the electronic device does not request additional data received from the external device.
[0132] In one example, the electronic device of FIG. 11 may transmit data packets to an external electronic device by including them in the primary sub-event (1123) updated in the CIS 1 event X (1120), and, when the HMD field value in the PDU header is 1, may also transmit information indicating that additional data can be transmitted. At this time, the payload included in the updated primary sub-event (1123) of 5,200 bytes may be data corresponding to payloads 0 and 1 of UHQ frame 1 (1101) and data corresponding to payload 2 of UHQ frame 2 (1103). At this time, the information requesting additional data may correspond to the case where the RMD field value in the PDU header is 1. If the data packets included in the first sub-event (1123) updated from the electronic device to the external electronic device are normally transmitted, the electronic device may receive an ACK message for the transmitted data from the external electronic device, and the ACK message may include information requesting additional data. Based on the information requesting additional data, the electronic device may additionally allocate data to the updated second sub-event (1125) of 2,800 bytes that is not used in the CIS 1 event X (1120) to the external electronic device and transmit the data to the external electronic device. For example, in FIG. 11, the electronic device may transmit data of payload 3 corresponding to UHQ frame 2 (1103) to the external electronic device in addition to data of payload 0, payload 1 corresponding to UHQ frame 1 (1101), and payload 2 corresponding to UHQ frame 2 (1103) that have already been transmitted to the external electronic device. At this time, the electronic device may also transmit information indicating that it can no longer transmit additional data, and accordingly, the electronic device may also receive information indicating that it does not request additional data along with an ACK message for data of payload 3 transmitted from the external electronic device.
[0133] FIG. 12 illustrates an example of transmitting and receiving data between an electronic device and an external electronic device according to one embodiment of the present disclosure. FIG. 12 illustrates a case in which audio data of ultra high quality (UHQ) is transmitted and received between an electronic device and an external electronic device using a secondary offset (SO), as in FIG. 11.
[0134] Referring to FIG. 12, the length of sub-events in which data is accepted may be changed according to the SO (1217, 1227) set as in FIG. 11. The first sub-event within a CIS event may be referred to as an updated primary sub-event with the data size that can be accepted increased by the SO, and the second sub-event within a CIS event may be referred to as an updated secondary sub-event with the data size that can be accepted decreased by the SO. For example, in a CIS 0 event X (1210) or a CIS 1 event (1220), if the number of sub-events is two, and in the same sub-event each of which is 4,000 bytes, if the SO is determined to be 1,200 bytes, the primary sub-event may be increased from 4,000 bytes to 5,200 bytes, and the secondary sub-event may be reduced from 4,000 bytes to 2,800 bytes.
[0135] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, when an electronic device transmits data packets to an external electronic device using a sub-event updated according to an SO, the electronic device can determine whether or not to receive additional data from the external electronic device. For example, the electronic device can configure a sub-event included in a CIS event to include data packets, and can transmit information indicating that additional data can be transmitted while transmitting the sub-event including these data packets. In this case, the information indicating that additional data can be transmitted may mean that the electronic device has remaining radio resources to transmit additional data packets to be transmitted to the external electronic device, and may also mean information indicating whether or not to receive additional data from the external electronic device.
[0136] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, an electronic device can receive a response message for a data packet included in a sub-event transmitted from an external electronic device. The information regarding whether additional data is requested may also be set based on the value of the eMD (request more data) field of the PDU header.
[0137] In one example, the electronic device of FIG. 12 may transmit payloads to an external electronic device in the updated primary sub-event (1213) in the CIS 0 event X (1210), and, when the eMD field value in the PDU header is 0, may transmit information indicating that additional data cannot be transmitted together. At this time, the payload included in the updated primary sub-event (1113) of 5,200 bytes may be data corresponding to payloads 0 and 1 of UHQ frame 1 (1201) and data corresponding to payload 2 of UHQ frame 2 (1203). Accordingly, the electronic device may receive information indicating that additional data is not requested along with an ACK message for data packets transmitted from the external electronic device. At this time, the information indicating that additional data is not requested may correspond to a case where the eMD field value in the PDU header is 0. The electronic device may not transmit data using the updated secondary sub-event (1215) of 2,800 bytes based on information that the electronic device does not request additional data received from the external device.
[0138] In one example, the electronic device of FIG. 12 may transmit data packets to an external electronic device by including them in the primary sub-event (1223) updated in the CIS 1 event X (1220), and, if the eMD field value in the PDU header is 1, may also transmit information indicating that additional data can be transmitted. At this time, the payload included in the updated primary sub-event (1223) of 5,200 bytes may be data corresponding to payloads 0 and 1 of UHQ frame 1 (1101) and data corresponding to payload 2 of UHQ frame 2 (1103). At this time, the information requesting additional data may correspond to the case where the eMD field value in the PDU header is 1. If the data packets included in the first sub-event (1223) updated from the electronic device to the external electronic device are normally transmitted, the electronic device may receive an ACK message for the transmitted data from the external electronic device, and the ACK message may include information requesting additional data. Based on the information requesting additional data, the electronic device may additionally allocate data to the updated second sub-event (1225) of 2,800 bytes that is not used in the CIS 1 event X (1220) to the external electronic device and transmit the data to the external electronic device. For example, in FIG. 12, in addition to the data of payload 0, payload 1, and payload 2 corresponding to UHQ frame 1 (1201) already transmitted to the external electronic device, the electronic device may additionally transmit data of payload 3 corresponding to UHQ frame 2 (1203) to the external electronic device. At this time, the electronic device may also transmit information indicating that it can no longer transmit additional data, and accordingly, the electronic device may also receive information indicating that it does not request additional data along with an ACK message for the data of payload 3 transmitted from the external electronic device.
[0139] FIG. 13 is a diagram for explaining parameters of a PDU header of a CIS according to one embodiment of the present disclosure.
[0140] Referring to (a) of FIG. 13, the CIS PDU header may include at least one of a logical link identifier (LLID) indicating whether it is unframed CIS data or framed CIS data, the next expected sequence number (NESN), a sequence number (SN), a close isochronous event (CIE) indicating whether a CIS event ends early, a null PDU indicator (NPI) indicating whether the CIS is a CIS data PDU or a CIS null PDU, and two RFU and a length field.
[0141] Referring to (b) of FIG. 13, the CIS PDU header may include an HMD (have more data) field (1310) and an RMD (request more data) field (1320) instead of the two RFU fields in the CIS PDU header of (a) of FIG. 13. In addition, the CIS PDU header may optionally replace the MO (more data on) field (1340) with the CIE field (1330) or add an MO field to the CIS PDU header.
[0142] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, an electronic device and an external electronic device can transmit and receive a CIS event based on the CIS PDU header of FIG. 13 (b). For example, the electronic device and the external electronic device of FIGS. 3 and 4 can perform additional data transmission and reception operations based on the CIS PDU header of FIG. 13 (b).
[0143] Referring to (c) of FIG. 13, the CIS PDU header may include an eMD (extended more data) field (1350) instead of one RFU field in the CIS PDU header of (a) of FIG. 13.
[0144] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, an electronic device and an external electronic device can transmit and receive a CIS event based on the CIS PDU header of (c) of FIG. 13. For example, the electronic device and the external electronic device of FIGS. 5 and 6 can perform additional data transmission and reception operations based on the CIS PDU header of (c) of FIG.
[0145] FIG. 14 is a flowchart illustrating the operation of an electronic device according to one embodiment of the present disclosure.
[0146] Referring to FIG. 14, at step 1410, the electronic device may transmit a first data packet to the external electronic device, including information indicating that additional data may be transmitted within the CIS event. In one example, the information indicating that additional data may be transmitted may indicate that the electronic device has remaining wireless resources to transmit additional data packets to the external electronic device, and may also indicate information indicating whether the external electronic device will receive additional data.
[0147] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, information indicating that additional data can be transmitted may be set based on the HMD (have more data) field value of the PDU header of the CIS event (e.g., (b) of FIG. 13). In one example, when the HMD field value of the PDU header is 1, information indicating that additional data can be transmitted may be included in the first data packet. For example, when the electronic device determines that it can additionally allocate and transmit data to a given wireless resource, the electronic device may include information indicating that additional data can be transmitted in the first data packet so that the HMD field value of the PDU header corresponds to 1, and transmit the information to the external electronic device. In one example, when the HMD field value of the PDU header is 0, the electronic device may not include information indicating that additional data can be transmitted in the first data packet, but may include information indicating that additional data cannot be transmitted. For example, if the electronic device determines that there is no additional data to allocate to a given wireless resource, the electronic device may send information to the external electronic device in the first data packet that additional data cannot be transmitted by setting the HMD field value of the PDU header to 0.
[0148] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, information indicating that additional data can be transmitted may be set based on the eMD (expected more data) field value of the PDU header of the CIS event (e.g., (c) of FIG. 13). In one example, when the eMD field value of the PDU header is 1, information indicating that additional data can be transmitted may be included in the first data packet. For example, when the electronic device determines that it can additionally allocate and transmit data to a given wireless resource, the electronic device may include information indicating that additional data can be transmitted in the first data packet so that the eMD field value of the PDU header corresponds to 1, and transmit the information to the external electronic device. In one example, when the eMD field value of the PDU header is 0, the electronic device may not include information indicating that additional data can be transmitted in the first data packet, but may include information indicating that additional data cannot be transmitted. For example, if the electronic device determines that there is no additional data to allocate to a given wireless resource, the electronic device may send information to the external electronic device in the first data packet that additional data cannot be transmitted by setting the eMD field value of the PDU header to 0.
[0149] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, when audio data to be transmitted from an electronic device to an external electronic device is divided into subevents within a CIS event, the electronic device may transmit a third data packet including information indicating that additional data can be transmitted to the external electronic device using the subevent. For example, in FIG. 7, when the CIS 0 event X (710) has an NSE of 2, the event may be divided into two subevents (713, 715), and the electronic device may assign data to the subevents and transmit them to the external electronic device. The information indicating that additional data can be transmitted may be set based on a value of a have more data (HMD) field or an eMD field of a PDU header.
[0150] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, audio data to be transmitted from an electronic device to an external electronic device is divided into sub-event units within a CIS event, and data can be transmitted by updating the length of the sub-events using a secondary offset (SO). At this time, when transmitting data using the updated sub-event, information indicating that additional data can be transmitted may be included in the transmitted data. For example, in FIG. 11, a CIS 0 event X (1010) may be divided into two sub-events when NSE is 2, and may be used for data transmission as a primary sub-event (1013) and a secondary sub-event (1015) updated according to the set SO. In this case as well, information indicating that additional data can be transmitted may be set based on a HMD (have more data) field value or an eMD field value of a PDU header.
[0151] In step 1420, the electronic device may receive an ACK packet for a first data packet including request information for additional data from an external electronic device. When the electronic device transmits data to the external electronic device, the electronic device may receive response information for the request for additional data from the external electronic device. The response information for the request for additional data may indicate information determining whether the external electronic device can receive additional data based on information that the external electronic device can transmit additional data received from the electronic device. In addition, the response information for the request for additional data may indicate information indicating that the external electronic device requests additional data using remaining wireless resources within a CIS event or does not request additional data. Meanwhile, the ACK packet may correspond to, for example, an ACK message. Step 1420 describes a case where the electronic device receives request information for additional data from the external electronic device requesting additional data. However, if the external electronic device determines that it cannot receive additional data, the ACK packet may include information indicating that it does not request additional data instead of information requesting additional data, and may be received by the electronic device.
[0152] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, response information for a request for additional data may be set based on the RMD (request more data) field value of the PDU header of the CIS event (e.g., (b) of FIG. 13). In one example, when the RMD field value of the PDU header is 1, information requesting additional data may be included in the ACK packet. For example, when an external electronic device determines that it can additionally receive data, information requesting additional data may be included in the ACK packet and transmitted to the electronic device so that the RMD field value of the PDU header corresponds to 1. In one example, when the RMD field value of the PDU header is 0, the external electronic device may not include information requesting additional data in the ACK packet, and may include information indicating that it does not request additional data.
[0153] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, response information for a request for additional data may be set based on the eMD (expected more data) field value of the PDU header of the CIS event (e.g., (c) of FIG. 13). In one example, when the eMD field value of the PDU header is 1, information requesting additional data may be included in the ACK packet. For example, when an external electronic device determines that it can additionally receive data, information requesting additional data may be included in the ACK packet so that the eMD field value of the PDU header corresponds to 1 and transmitted to the electronic device. In one example, when the eMD field value of the PDU header is 0, the external electronic device may not include information requesting additional data in the ACK packet, and may include information indicating that it does not request additional data.
[0154] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, when an electronic device transmits a third data packet including information indicating that additional data can be transmitted to an external electronic device using a sub-event, an ACK packet including response information for the additional data can be received from the external electronic device. In this case, the response information for the additional data can be set based on the RMD field value or the eMD field value of the PDU header.
[0155] According to one embodiment of the present disclosure, when an electronic device transmits data to an external electronic device by updating the length of sub-events using a secondary offset (SO), an ACK packet including response information for additional data may be received from the external electronic device. In this case, the response information for the additional data may be set based on the RMD field value or the eMD field value of the PDU header.
[0156] Although step 1420 in the present disclosure describes a case where an electronic device receives an ACK packet for data transmitted from an external electronic device, the present disclosure is not limited thereto. For example, after transmitting a data packet, the electronic device may not receive an ACK packet from the external electronic device or may receive a NACK packet for some of the data packets. In one example, if the electronic device does not receive an ACK packet from the external electronic device, the electronic device may retransmit data packets already transmitted to the external electronic device. In one example, if the electronic device receives a NACK packet for some of the data transmitted from the external electronic device, the operations of the electronic device and the external electronic device in the present disclosure may also be applied even when the electronic device retransmits some of the data based on the NACK packet.
[0157] At step 1430, a second data packet can be transmitted to the external electronic device within the CIS event based on the ACK packet. Based on information requesting additional data included in the ACK packet received from the external electronic device, the electronic device can transmit a second data packet with additional data to the external electronic device.
[0158] Accordingly, the electronic device can transmit more data to an external electronic device than can be allocated to existing wireless resources. Specifically, if the transmission channel between the electronic device and the external electronic device is good, leaving remaining wireless resources available after the electronic device transmits the planned data, the electronic device can efficiently utilize wireless resources by transmitting additional data to the external electronic device. Furthermore, this allows the electronic device to transmit data quickly, reducing transmission delays.

In a method performed by an electronic device, A step of transmitting a first data packet including information that additional data can be transmitted within a connected isochronous stream (CIS) event to an external electronic device; A step of receiving an ACK packet for the first data packet including information requesting additional data from the external electronic device; and A method comprising the step of transmitting a second data packet within the CIS event based on the ACK packet to the external electronic device.
12. In claim 11, Information that the above additional data can be transmitted is set based on the value of the HMD (have more data) field of the PDU (protocol data unit) header of the CIS event, A method in which information requesting the above additional data is set based on the value of the RMD (request more data) field of the PDU header of the CIS event.
13. In claim 11, A method wherein information indicating that the additional data can be transmitted and information requesting the additional data are set based on the eMD (expected more data) field value of the PDU header of the CIS event.
14. In claim 12, Information that the above additional data can be transmitted, If the above HMD field value is 1, it is included in the first data packet, A method wherein if the above HMD field value is 0, information is included that additional data cannot be transmitted to the first data packet and is not included in the first data packet.
15. In claim 12, The information requesting the above additional data is: Indicates when the above RMD field value is 1. A method in which information requesting additional data is not included when the value of the above RMD field is 0, and information not requesting additional data is included.
