For the purposes of this document, the phrase "A or B" refers to (A), (B), or (A and B).
[0011] The embodiments described herein are related to the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) specifications. Examples of these specifications include, but are not limited to, one or more 3GPP New Air Interface (NR) specifications and one or more specifications related to and / or related to Radio Layer 1 (RAN1) and / or fifth generation (5G) mobile networks / systems.
[0012] According to the 3GPP Technical Report (TR) 22.804 V2.0.0 entitled "Service performance and network performance requirements for cyber-physical control applications in vertical domains", the manufacturing industry is currently undergoing a fundamental change that is often referred to as the "Fourth Industrial Revolution" or simply "Industry 4.0". The main goals of Industry 4.0 are to improve flexibility, versatility, resource efficiency, cost efficiency, worker support, and the quality of industrial production and logistics. As an important use case category of Industry 4.0, factory automation deals with the automated control, monitoring, and optimization of processes and workflows within a factory. This includes aspects like closed-loop control applications, robotics, and computer-integrated manufacturing. Factory automation generally represents a key enabler for industrial mass production with high quality and cost efficiency. The corresponding applications are often characterized by the highest requirements for the underlying connectivity infrastructure, especially in terms of latency, communication service availability, and determinism.
[0013] Specifically, motion control (MC) is one of the most challenging and demanding closed-loop control applications in the manufacturing industry. MC systems are responsible for controlling moving and / or rotating parts of a machine in a well-defined manner, for example in a printing press, machine tool or packaging machine. Due to the movement / rotation of the parts, wireless communication based on powerful 5G systems constitutes a promising approach.
[0014] like Figure 1As shown, it shows a MC closed-loop system 100. In the system 100, the motion controller 102 periodically sends the desired set point to one or several actuators 104, and the one or several actuators perform corresponding actions on one or several processes 106. At the same time, the sensor 108 determines the current state of the process and sends the actual value back to the motion controller 102. This is done in a strictly cyclic and deterministic manner, so that during one communication cycle time (T cycle), the motion controller 102 sends the updated set point to all actuators 104, and all sensors 108 send their actual values back to the motion controller 102. For such deterministic traffic, semi-persistent scheduling (SPS) is naturally an attractive method. Specifically, motion control commands can be transmitted through the downlink (DL) semi-persistent scheduling (SPS) physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH), and measurement feedback from the actuator 104 can be transmitted through the uplink (UL) physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) without authorization configuration. To enhance process efficiency and feedback latency, it is beneficial to support DL SPS with mini-slots or symbol-level periodicity.
[0015] Embodiments described herein relate to techniques (e.g., methods, systems, apparatus, etc.) for enhancing DL SPS. Specifically, some embodiments facilitate enabling mini-slot or symbol-level periodicity for DL SPS, and facilitate hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback for scheduled DL data at the mini-slot / symbol level. DL SPS may also be transmitted according to configured symbol-level timing.
[0016] The embodiments described herein include an enhanced SPS method that can be used to further shorten the periodicity of DL SPS transmissions to the micro-slot / symbol level in order to reduce transmission delays and achieve faster and more accurate motion control. In addition, a new PUCCH format is proposed to reduce the hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback timing delay relative to DL SPS data to the symbol level. Specifically, in the context of the technology proposed below, the following scheduling components for DL SPS enhancement are proposed.
[0017] According to the first technique (technique 1), the periodicity of the SPS periodicity may be reduced. According to one embodiment, the DL SPS periodicity may be enhanced to incorporate more configurations that are shorter than the existing periodicity, so that mini-slot or symbol-level DL SPS periodicity is supported.
[0018] According to the first option (option 1) of technique 1, a time-based enhanced configuration may be implemented, according to which periodicity is divided into two categories: millisecond level and sub-millisecond level.
[0019] According to the second option (option 2) of technique 1: an enhanced configuration based on mixed time and symbol may be implemented, according to which the periodicity is classified by milliseconds and symbols.
[0020] According to a second technique (Technique 2), the timing of DL data for HARQ feedback may be enhanced. According to this technique, a new physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) format may include a parameter named "nrofSymbolsToDlData" that is used to limit the number of symbols between HARQ feedback and scheduled data. For the case where HARQ feedback is transmitted in the same time slot as the scheduled physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH), the new PUCCH format may be used with downlink control information (DCI) signaling "dl-DataToUL-ACK" with a value of 0 transmitted to the UE via a DL signal set from the gNodeB.
[0021] According to a third technique, a combination of Technique 1 and Technique 2 may be used. In this embodiment, the combination will enable DL SPS with symbol-level periodicity as well as the required mini-slot / symbol-level HARQ feedback timing.
[0022] The implementation of the technology described herein enables NR to support DL SPS with mini-slot / symbol-level periodicity and the required shorter HARQ feedback time interval. Therefore, faster and more accurate motion control can be achieved. The implementation of the above technology will now be described in more detail below.
[0023] Enhanced HARQ feedback timing for SPS downlink transmission
[0024] For low latency and high reliability communications required in motion control and due to deterministic traffic generation, it is envisaged to provide an efficient scheduling method by using semi-persistent scheduling (SPS) downlink (DL) transmissions (DL SPS transmissions) with corresponding DL SPS allocations transmitted to the UE in DL communications from the gNodeB. In addition, to further reduce latency, sub-slot level HARQ feedback can be provided.
[0025] According to the current Release 15 (Rel-15) NR specification, the SPS configuration radio resource control (RRC) parameter “SPS-Config” includes the following configuration parameters:
[0026]
[0027] In Rel-15, for DL SPS, DL allocations are provided by the Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH). DL allocations may be stored or cleared based on Layer 1 (L1) signaling indicating SPS activation or deactivation. When SPS is released by upper layers, all corresponding configurations will be released. After DL allocations are configured for SPS, the Medium Access Control (MAC) entity will sequentially consider the Nth DL allocation to occur in a timeslot, for which:
[0028] (number of slots per frame × SFN + number of slots in a frame) = [(number of slots per frame × SFN 开始时间 +slot 开始时间 )+N×periodicity×number of time slots per frame / 10] modulo (1024×number of time slots per frame)
[0029] Where SFN is the number of subframes, SFN 开始时间 and slot 开始时间 Respectively, the SFN and timeslot of the first transmission of PDSCH when (re)initializing the configured downlink assignment.
[0030] To achieve sub-slot level (ie, symbol level) DL SPS transmission, one or more of the following techniques may be used according to an implementation.
[0031] Technique 1: Reducing SPS periodicity
[0032] For Technique 1, the periodicity parameters in the RRC parameter SPS-Config may be further extended to include more options for symbol-level SPS transmission. For example, the following settings may be used for periodicity configuration as described below with respect to Option 1 and Option 2.
[0033] Option 1: Enhanced time-based configuration
[0034] Periodicity CHOICE
[0035] subMilliSecondsINTEGER{1..32}
[0036] milliseconds ENUMERATED{ms10,ms20,ms32,ms40,ms64,ms80,ms128,ms160,ms320,ms640,spare6,spare5,spare4,spare3,spare2,spare1}
[0037] }
[0038] Option 2: Enhanced configuration based on mixed time and symbol
[0039] Periodicity ENUMERATED{ms10,ms20,ms32,ms40,ms64,ms80,ms128,ms160,ms320,ms640,ms5,ms2,ms1,symbol14,symbol7,symbol4,symbol2}
[0040] SFN 开始时间 、slot 开始时间 and symbol 开始时间 The SFN, time slot and symbol of the first transmission of the Physical Downlink Shared Channel (PDSCH) upon (re)initialization of the configured downlink allocation are defined respectively.With the above enhancements, the DL SPS can be configured to support symbol-level periodic transmission.
[0041] Specifically, after DL allocation is configured for SPS with the proposed enhancement, when the configured periodicity has ms units, the MAC entity shall sequentially consider the Nth downlink allocation to occur in a timeslot according to some embodiments, for which:
[0042] (Number of time slots per frame × SFN + number of time slots in a frame)
[0043] =[(number of time slots per frame × SFN 开始时间 +slot 开始时间 )+N×periodicity×number of time slots per frame / 10] modulo (1024×number of time slots per frame)
[0044] However, when the configured periodicity has sub-millisecond units, the MAC entity shall sequentially consider the Nth downlink allocation to occur in a timeslot for which:
[0045] (Number of time slots per frame × SFN + number of time slots in a frame)
[0046] =[(number of time slots per frame × SFN 开始时间 +slot 开始时间 )+N×periodicity] modulo (1024×number of time slots per frame)
[0047] When the configured periodicity has a symbol unit, the MAC entity shall sequentially consider that the Nth downlink allocation occurs in a symbol of a slot, for which symbol of the slot:
[0048] (Number of slots per frame × SFN × 14 + Number of slots in a frame × 14 + Number of symbols in a slot)
[0049] =[(number of time slots per frame × SFN 开始时间 ×14+slot 开始时间 ×14+symbol 开始时间)+N×periodicity] modulo (1024×number of time slots per frame×14)
[0050] Technique 2: Enhanced timing of DL data for HARQ feedback
[0051] In the Technical Specification (TS) 38.331 Version 15.2.1 entitled “NR; Radio Resource Control (RRC) Protocol Specification (Release 15)”, the Physical Uplink Control Channel (PUCCH) resources are configured via RRC signaling as follows:
[0052]
[0053]
[0054] in
[0055]
[0056] According to the above configuration, the PUCCH resource format is designed for periodic dynamic scheduling PDSCH or SPS PDSCH with multiple time slots. However, in micro-time slots or symbol-level DL SPS, it may be beneficial to enhance the PUCCH format design so that the time interval between scheduled DL data and HARQ feedback can be explicitly configured according to the number of symbols. To this end, the implementation adds a new PUCCH format as described below, which can be signaled by the UE through explicit information (such as explicit RRC signaling):
[0057]
[0058] The new PUCCH-format5 mentioned above includes a parameter named "nrofSymbolsToDlData", which defines the number of symbols between HARQ feedback and scheduled PDSCH data. It should be noted that this PUCCH resource should be used with the dl-DataToUL-ACK setting of value 0, which corresponds to the case where HARQ feedback is transmitted in the same time slot as the scheduled PDSCH.
[0059] See also Figure 2, according to one embodiment, process 200 includes: at operation 202, decoding a downlink (DL) communication from an NR evolved Node B (gNodeB), the DL communication including a DL SPS allocation for a corresponding DL semi-persistent scheduling (SPS) transmission from the gNodeB, the DL communication also including an SPS configuration (SPS-Config) parameter, the SPS-Config parameter including information about a symbol-level periodicity of the DL SPS transmission from the gNodeB; at operation 204, determining the symbol-level periodicity of the DL SPS transmission based on the SPS-Config parameter; and at operation 206, decoding the DL SPS transmission based on the determination of the symbol-level periodicity of the DL SPS allocation.

One such process includes a method comprising: extending a periodicity parameter to include more options for symbol-level SPS transmission.
