Claims
1. A method comprising: determining, by a user device, a primary language associated with the user device; determining, by the user device, a secondary language associated with the user device; storing, by the user device, a label language mapping for translating a first plurality of topic labels associated with the secondary language to a second plurality of topic labels associated with the primary language; receiving, by the user device, labeled content items from a server device, wherein a second labeled content item of the labeled content items is associated with a second label of the second plurality of topic labels associated with the primary language, wherein a first labeled content item of the labeled content items is associated with a first label of the first plurality of topic labels associated with the secondary language; determining, by the user device, that the second label of the second plurality of topic labels associated with the primary language and the first label of the first plurality of topic labels associated with the secondary language are semantically equivalent; based on determining that the first label and the second label are semantically equivalent, grouping, by the user device, at least the first labeled content item and the second labeled content item into a group of content items; and presenting, by the user device, the group of content items on a display of the user device, wherein the group of content items includes the first labeled content item labeled with the first label associated with the secondary language and the second labeled content item labeled with the second label associated with the primary language.
2. The method of claim 1, further comprising: translating, by the user device, the at least one topic label of the secondary language associated with the at least one labeled content item to a corresponding topic label of the primary language based on the label language mapping; and grouping, by the user device, the at least one labeled content item of the secondary language with other content items of the primary language based on the corresponding topic label of the primary language.
3. The method of claim 1, further comprising: sending, by the user device, a request to the server device for the label language mapping, the request identifying the primary language and the secondary language; and receiving, by the user device, the label language mapping.
4. The method of claim 1, further comprising: inferring, by the user device, the secondary language based on historical content consumption behavior of a user of the user device.
5. The method of any one of claims 1-4, further comprising: receiving, by the user device, whitelisted labels from the server device, wherein the whitelisted labels are an exclusive set of topic labels that the user device can automatically subscribe the user to.

The method of claim 5, further comprising: determining, by the user device, that the user of the user device has consumed content associated with a particular topic label; determining, by the user device, that the user is not currently subscribed to receive content associated with the particular topic tag; determining, by the user device, that the particular topic tag is included in the whitelisted tags; and in response to determining that the particular topic tag is included in the whitelisted tags, automatically subscribing, by the user device, the user to receive content associated with the particular topic tag.
7. The method of claim 5, further comprising: determining, by the user device, that the user of the user device has consumed content associated with a particular topic tag; determining, by the user device, that the user is not currently subscribed to receive content associated with the particular topic tag; determining, by the user device, that the particular topic tag is not included in the whitelisted tags; and in response to determining that the particular topic tag is not included in the whitelisted tags, preventing the user device from automatically subscribing the user to receive content associated with the particular topic tag.
8. A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising one or more sequences of instructions which, when executed by one or more processors, cause the processors to perform operations comprising: determining, by a user device, a primary language associated with the user device; determining, by the user device, a secondary language associated with the user device; storing, by the user device, a language-to-tag mapping for translating a first plurality of topic tags associated with the secondary language to a second plurality of topic tags associated with the primary language; receiving, by the user device, tagged content items from a server device, wherein a second tagged content item of the tagged content items is associated with a second tag of the second plurality of topic tags associated with the primary language, wherein a first tagged content item of the tagged content items is associated with a first tag of the first plurality of topic tags associated with the secondary language; determining, by the user device, that the second tag of the second plurality of topic tags associated with the primary language and the first tag of the first plurality of topic tags associated with the secondary language are semantically equivalent; based on determining that the first tag and the second tag are semantically equivalent, grouping, by the user device, at least the first tagged content item and the second tagged content item into a group of content items; and presenting, by the user device, the group of content items on a display of the user device, wherein the group of content items includes the first tagged content item labeled with the first tag associated with the secondary language and the second tagged content item labeled with the second tag associated with the primary language.

The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8, wherein the instructions cause the processors to perform operations comprising: translating, by the user device, the at least one topic tag of the secondary language associated with the at least one tagged content item to a corresponding topic tag of the primary language based on the tag language mapping; and grouping, by the user device, the at least one tagged content item of the secondary language together with other content items of the primary language based on the corresponding topic tag of the primary language.

The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8, wherein the instructions cause the processor to perform operations comprising: sending, by the user device to the server device, a request for the tag language mapping, the request identifying the primary language and the secondary language; and receiving, by the user device, the tag language mapping.
11. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 8, wherein the instructions cause the processor to perform operations comprising: inferring, by the user device, the secondary language based on historical content consumption behavior of a user of the user device.

The non-transitory computer-readable medium of any of claims 8-11, wherein the instructions cause the processor to perform operations comprising: receiving, by the user device from the server device, a whitelisted tag, wherein the whitelisted tag is an exclusive set of topic tags that the user device can automatically subscribe for a user.

The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 12, wherein the instructions cause the processor to perform operations comprising: determining, by the user device, that the user of the user device has consumed content associated with a particular topic tag; determining, by the user device, that the user is not currently subscribed to receive content associated with the particular topic tag; determining, by the user device, that the particular topic tag is included in the whitelisted tag; and in response to determining that the particular topic tag is included in the whitelisted tag, automatically subscribing, by the user device, the user to receive content associated with the particular topic tag.

The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 12, wherein the instructions cause the processor to perform operations comprising: determining, by the user device, that the user of the user device has consumed content associated with a particular topic tag; determining, by the user device, that the user is not currently subscribed to receive content associated with the particular topic tag; determining, by the user device, that the particular topic tag is not included in the whitelisted tag; and in response to determining that the particular topic tag is not included in the whitelisted tag, preventing the user device from automatically subscribing the user to receive content associated with the particular topic tag.

A system, the system comprising: one or more processors; and a memory coupled to the one or more processors, the memory storing instructions that, as a result of execution of the instructions by the one or more processors, cause the system to perform operations comprising: receiving, by the system from a user device, a request for a tag language mapping, the request identifying a primary language and a secondary language; and transmitting, by the system to the user device, the tag language mapping. A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising one or more sequences of instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the processors to perform operations comprising: determining, by a user device, a primary language associated with the user device; determining, by the user device, a secondary language associated with the user device; storing, by the user device, a label language mapping for translating a first plurality of topic labels associated with the secondary language to a second plurality of topic labels associated with the primary language; receiving, by the user device from a server device, labeled content items, wherein a second labeled content item of the labeled content items is associated with a second label of the second plurality of topic labels associated with the primary language, wherein a first labeled content item of the labeled content items is associated with a first label of the first plurality of topic labels associated with the secondary language; determining, by the user device, that the second label of the second plurality of topic labels associated with the primary language and the first label of the first plurality of topic labels associated with the secondary language are semantically equivalent; based on determining that the first label and the second label are semantically equivalent, grouping, by the user device, at least the first labeled content item and the second labeled content item into a group of content items; and presenting, by the user device, the group of content items on a display of the user device, wherein the group of content items includes the first labeled content item labeled with the first label associated with the secondary language and the second labeled content item labeled with the second label associated with the primary language.

The system of claim 15, wherein the instructions cause the processors to perform operations comprising: translating, by the user device based on the label language mapping, the at least one topic label of the secondary language associated with the at least one labeled content item to a corresponding topic label of the primary language; and grouping, by the user device, the at least one labeled content item of the secondary language with other content items of the primary language based on the corresponding topic label of the primary language.

The system of claim 15, wherein the instructions cause the processors to perform operations comprising: sending, by the user device to the server device, a request for the label language mapping, the request identifying the primary language and the secondary language; and receiving, by the user device, the label language mapping.
18. The system of claim 15, wherein the instructions cause the processors to perform operations comprising: inferring, by the user device, the secondary language based on historical content consumption behavior of a user of the user device.

21. A computer program product comprising a computer program which, when executed by a processor, causes the processor to perform the method of any one of claims 1-7.
