Technical Field
[0003]
[0013] The following relates generally to wireless communications, and more particularly, to feedback reporting for a sidelink. Background Art
[0004] Wireless communication systems are widely deployed to provide various types of communication content, such as voice, video, packet data, messaging, broadcasting, etc. These systems may be able to support communication with multiple users by sharing available system resources (e.g., time, frequency, and power). Examples of such multiple access systems include fourth generation (4G) systems (such as long term evolution (LTE) systems, improved LTE (LTE-A) systems, or LTE-A Pro systems) and fifth generation (5G) systems (which may be referred to as new radio (NR) systems). These systems may use techniques such as code division multiple access (CDMA), time division multiple access (TDMA), frequency division multiple access (FDMA), orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA), or discrete Fourier transform spread orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (DFT-S-OFDM).
[0005] A wireless multiple access communication system may include one or more base stations or one or more network access nodes, each base station or network access node simultaneously supporting communication for multiple communication devices (which may also be referred to as user equipment (UE)). Communication from a base station to a UE may be referred to as downlink communication, and communication from a UE to a base station may be referred to as uplink communication. In addition to communicating with a base station, a UE may also communicate with other UEs using sidelink technologies.
[0006] In some cases, a UE may implement a feedback procedure to increase the reliability of its communication with another device.Complications may arise when a UE has pending feedback for downlink communications from a base station and feedback for sidelink communications from another UE. Summary of the invention
[0007] The described technology relates to improved methods, systems, devices and apparatuses that support feedback reporting for a sidelink. A user equipment (UE) may determine that it has first feedback data for downlink communication and second feedback data for sidelink communication. The UE may receive an indication of resources for feedback from a base station and send the first feedback data, the second feedback data, or both in the resources. In some examples, the UE may send the first feedback data in a first set of resources and send the second feedback data in a second set of resources. In some examples, the UE may discard one of the first feedback data or the second feedback data based on a priority associated with the feedback data. In some examples, the UE may multiplex the first feedback data and the second feedback data for transmission in the resources.

[0106] A user equipment (UE) may be able to communicate directly with a base station and other UEs. For example, the UE may communicate with a second UE via a sidelink, and communicate with the base station via an uplink and a downlink. In some cases, the UE may implement a feedback process (e.g., a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) process) to improve the reliability of communication between the UE and another device. For example, when a device sends data to the UE, the UE may send information about the reception status of the data to the sending device, such as an indication of whether the data is successfully decoded. This type of information may be referred to as feedback or HARQ feedback. In some cases, the UE may have HARQ feedback for downlink communications from a base station and HARQ feedback for sidelink communications with a second UE, but when both types are waiting for transmission, the UE may not know how to process the HARQ feedback.
[0107] According to the techniques described herein, a UE with common pending feedback data for different types of communications may resolve conflicts by implementing one or more solutions. In a first solution, the UE may determine that a first set of control channel resources is reserved for feedback for downlink communications and a second set of control channel resources is reserved for feedback for sidelink communications. If the first set of resources and the second set of resources do not overlap, the UE may send feedback for downlink communications in the first set of resources and send feedback for sidelink communications in the second set of resources. If the first set of resources and the second set of resources overlap, the UE may send feedback for downlink communications or feedback for sidelink communications in the corresponding set of resources (and avoid sending other feedback).
[0108] In a second solution, the UE may determine that a single set of control channel resources is reserved for feedback. The UE may also determine the priority of each type of feedback. For example, the UE may determine the priority of feedback for downlink communications and the priority of feedback for sidelink communications. Once the priority is determined, the UE may discard feedback with a lower priority and send feedback with a higher priority in the set of control channel resources.
[0109] In a third solution, the UE may determine that a first set of control channel resources reserved for feedback for downlink communication and a second set of control channel resources reserved for feedback for sidelink communication overlap in time. When such an overlap occurs and certain timing conditions are met, the UE may multiplex the feedback for downlink communication and the feedback for sidelink communication and send the multiplexed feedback in the first set of resources, the second set of resources, or both.
[0110] Aspects of the present disclosure are first described in the context of a wireless communication system. Aspects of the present disclosure are further illustrated by and described with reference to apparatus diagrams, system diagrams, and flow diagrams relating to feedback reporting for a sidelink.
[0111] Figure 1 An example of a wireless communication system 100 supporting feedback reporting for a sidelink according to aspects of the present disclosure is shown. The wireless communication system 100 may include one or more base stations 105, one or more UEs 115, and a core network 130. In some examples, the wireless communication system 100 may be a long term evolution (LTE) network, an improved LTE (LTE-A) network, an LTE-A Pro network, or a new radio (NR) network. In some examples, the wireless communication system 100 may support enhanced broadband communications, ultra-reliable (e.g., mission-critical) communications, low-latency communications, communications with low-cost and low-complexity devices, or any combination thereof.
[0112] Base stations 105 may be dispersed throughout a geographic area to form wireless communication system 100, and may be devices of different forms or capabilities. Base stations 105 and UEs 115 may communicate wirelessly via one or more communication links 125. Each base station 105 may provide a coverage area 110 over which UEs 115 and base stations 105 may establish one or more communication links 125. Coverage area 110 may be an example of a geographic area over which base stations 105 and UEs 115 may support transmission of signals according to one or more radio access technologies.
[0113] UEs 115 may be dispersed throughout the coverage area 110 of the wireless communication system 100, and each UE 115 may be stationary, mobile, or both at different times. UEs 115 may be devices of different forms or with different capabilities. Figure 1 Some example UEs 115 are shown in FIG. 1. The UEs 115 described herein may be able to communicate with various types of devices, such as other UEs 115, base stations 105, or network devices (e.g., core network nodes, relay devices, integrated access and backhaul (IAB) nodes, or other network devices), such as Figure 1 as shown in .
[0114] The base stations 105 may communicate with the core network 130, or communicate with each other, or perform both of the above operations. For example, the base stations 105 may interface with the core network 130 via one or more backhaul links 120 (e.g., via S1, N2, N3 or other interfaces). The base stations 105 may communicate with each other directly (e.g., directly between the base stations 105) or indirectly (e.g., via the core network 130) via the backhaul links 120 (e.g., via X2, Xn or other interfaces), or perform both of the above operations. In some examples, the backhaul links 120 may be or include one or more wireless links.
[0115] One or more of the base stations 105 described herein may include or may be referred to by those skilled in the art as a base station transceiver, a radio base station, an access point, a radio transceiver, a Node B, an evolved Node B (eNB), a next generation Node B, or a Gigabit Node B (any of which may be referred to as a gNB), a Home Node B, a Home Evolved Node B, or some other appropriate terminology.
[0116] UE 115 may include or may be referred to as a mobile device, a wireless device, a remote device, a handheld device, or a subscriber device, or some other appropriate terminology, where a "device" may also be referred to as a unit, a station, a terminal, or a client, among other examples. UE 115 may also include or may be referred to as a personal electronic device, such as a cellular phone, a personal digital assistant (PDA), a tablet computer, a laptop computer, or a personal computer. In some examples, UE 115 may include or be referred to as a wireless local loop (WLL) station, an Internet of Things (IoT) device, an Internet of Everything (IoE) device, or a machine type communication (MTC) device, among other examples, which may be implemented in various items, such as appliances, or vehicles, meters, and other examples.
[0117] The UE 115 described herein may be able to communicate with various types of devices, such as other UEs 115, which may sometimes act as relays, as well as base stations 105 and network devices, including macro eNBs or gNBs, small cell eNBs or gNBs, or relay base stations, among other examples, such as Figure 1 as shown in .
[0118] The UE 115 and the base station 105 may communicate wirelessly with each other via one or more communication links 125 on one or more carriers. The term "carrier" may refer to a set of radio frequency spectrum resources having a defined physical layer structure for supporting the communication link 125. For example, a carrier for the communication link 125 may include a portion of a radio frequency spectrum band (e.g., a bandwidth portion (BWP)) that operates according to one or more physical layer channels for a given radio access technology (e.g., LTE, LTE-A, LTE-A Pro, NR). Each physical layer channel may carry acquisition signaling (e.g., synchronization signals, system information), control signaling for coordinating operations for the carrier, user data, or other signaling. The wireless communication system 100 may support communication with the UE 115 using carrier aggregation or multi-carrier operation. Depending on the carrier aggregation configuration, the UE 115 may be configured with multiple downlink component carriers and one or more uplink component carriers. Carrier aggregation may be used with both frequency division duplex (FDD) component carriers and time division duplex (TDD) component carriers.
[0119] The communication link 125 shown in the wireless communication system 100 may include an uplink transmission from the UE 115 to the base station 105, or a downlink transmission from the base station 105 to the UE 115. A carrier may carry downlink or uplink communications (e.g., in FDD mode) or may be configured to carry both downlink and uplink communications (e.g., in TDD mode).
[0120] A carrier may be associated with a particular bandwidth of a radio frequency spectrum, and in some examples, the carrier bandwidth may be referred to as a "system bandwidth" of the carrier or wireless communication system 100. For example, the carrier bandwidth may be one of several determined bandwidths of a carrier for a particular radio access technology (e.g., 1.4, 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 40, or 80 megahertz (MHz)). Devices of the wireless communication system 100 (e.g., base stations 105, UEs 115, or both) may have a hardware configuration that supports communication on a particular carrier bandwidth, or may be configurable to support communication on one of a set of carrier bandwidths. In some examples, the wireless communication system 100 may include a base station 105 or UE 115 that supports simultaneous communication via carriers associated with multiple carrier bandwidths. In some examples, each served UE 115 may be configured to operate on a portion (e.g., subband, BWP) or all of the carrier bandwidth.
[0121] The signal waveform transmitted on the carrier may be composed of multiple subcarriers (e.g., using multi-carrier modulation (MCM) techniques, such as orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) or discrete Fourier transform spread OFDM (DFT-S-OFDM)). In a system employing MCM techniques, a resource element may include a symbol period (e.g., the duration of a modulation symbol) and a subcarrier, wherein the symbol period and the subcarrier spacing are inversely related. The number of bits carried by each resource element may depend on the modulation scheme (e.g., the order of the modulation scheme, the coding rate of the modulation scheme, or both). Therefore, the more resource elements received by UE 115 and the higher the order of the modulation scheme, the higher the data rate for UE 115 can be. Wireless communication resources may refer to a combination of radio frequency spectrum resources, time resources, and spatial resources (e.g., spatial layers or beams), and the use of multiple spatial layers may further increase the data rate or data integrity used for communication with UE 115.
[0122] The basic time unit (which may be referred to as T s =1 / (Δf max ·N f ) seconds sampling period, where Δf max It can represent the maximum supported subcarrier spacing, and N f The time intervals for the base station 105 or the UE 115 may be expressed as multiples of a maximum supported discrete Fourier transform (DFT) size). The time intervals of the communication resources may be organized according to radio frames each having a specified duration (e.g., 10 milliseconds (ms)). Each radio frame may be identified by a system frame number (SFN) (e.g., ranging from 0 to 1023).
[0123] Each frame may include multiple consecutively numbered subframes or time slots, and each subframe or time slot may have the same duration. In some examples, the frame may be divided (e.g., in the time domain) into subframes, and each subframe may be further divided into a number of time slots. Alternatively, each frame may include a variable number of time slots, and the number of time slots may depend on the subcarrier spacing. Each time slot may include a number of symbol periods (e.g., depending on the length of a cyclic prefix added in front of each symbol period). In some wireless communication systems 100, the time slot may be further divided into a plurality of micro-time slots containing one or more symbols. Excluding the cyclic prefix, each symbol period may contain one or more (e.g., N f The duration of a symbol period may depend on the subcarrier spacing or the operating frequency band.
[0124] A subframe, a time slot, a mini-time slot, or a symbol may be the smallest scheduling unit (e.g., in the time domain) of the wireless communication system 100 and may be referred to as a transmission time interval (TTI). In some examples, the TTI duration (e.g., the number of symbol periods in a TTI) may be variable. Additionally or alternatively, the smallest scheduling unit of the wireless communication system 100 may be dynamically selected (e.g., in bursts of shortened TTIs (sTTIs)).
[0125] Physical channels may be multiplexed on a carrier according to various techniques. For example, physical control channels and physical data channels may be multiplexed on a downlink carrier using one or more of a time division multiplexing (TDM) technique, a frequency division multiplexing (FDM) technique, or a hybrid TDM-FDM technique. A control region (e.g., a control resource set (CORESET)) for a physical control channel may be defined by the number of symbol periods and may extend across a system bandwidth or a subset of a system bandwidth of a carrier. One or more control regions (e.g., CORESETs) may be configured for a group of UEs 115. For example, one or more of the UEs 115 may monitor or search a control region for control information according to one or more search space sets, and each search space set may include one or more control channel candidates with one or more aggregation levels arranged in a cascaded manner. The aggregation level for a control channel candidate may refer to the number of control channel resources (e.g., control channel elements (CCEs)) associated with the coded information for a control information format having a given payload size. The search space sets may include a common search space set configured for transmitting control information to multiple UEs 115 and a UE-specific search space set for transmitting control information to a specific UE 115 .
[0126] In some examples, base stations 105 may be mobile and, therefore, provide communication coverage for mobile geographic coverage areas 110. In some examples, different geographic coverage areas 110 associated with different technologies may overlap, but the different geographic coverage areas 110 may be supported by the same base station 105. In other examples, overlapping geographic coverage areas 110 associated with different technologies may be supported by different base stations 105. The wireless communication system 100 may include, for example, a heterogeneous network in which different types of base stations 105 provide coverage for respective geographic coverage areas 110 using the same or different radio access technologies.
[0127] The wireless communication system 100 can be configured to support ultra-reliable communication or low-latency communication, or various combinations thereof. For example, the wireless communication system 100 can be configured to support ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC) or mission-critical communication. UE115 can be designed to support ultra-reliable, low-latency or critical functions (e.g., mission-critical functions). Ultra-reliable communication can include private communication or group communication, and can be supported by one or more mission-critical services (such as mission-critical push-to-talk (MCPTT), mission-critical video (MCVideo), or mission-critical data (MCData). Support for mission-critical functions can include prioritization of services, and mission-critical services can be used for public safety or general commercial applications. The terms ultra-reliable, low-latency, mission-critical, and ultra-reliable low-latency can be used interchangeably in this article.
[0128] In some examples, UE 115 may also be able to communicate directly with other UE 115 on a device-to-device (D2D) communication link 135 (e.g., using a peer-to-peer (P2P) or D2D protocol). One or more UEs 115 utilizing D2D communication may be within a geographic coverage area 110 of a base station 105. Other UEs 115 in such a group may be outside the geographic coverage area 110 of a base station 105 or otherwise unable to receive transmissions from a base station 105. In some examples, a group of UEs 115 communicating via D2D communication may utilize a one-to-many (1:M) system, wherein each UE 115 transmits to each other UE 115 in the group. In some examples, a base station 105 facilitates scheduling of resources for D2D communication. In other cases, D2D communication is performed between UEs 115 without involving a base station 105.
[0129] In some systems, the D2D communication link 135 can be an example of a communication channel (such as a sidelink communication channel) between vehicles (e.g., UE 115). In some examples, vehicles can communicate using vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication, vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication, or some combination of these items. Vehicles can use signals to send information related to traffic conditions, signal scheduling, weather, safety, emergency situations, or any other information related to the V2X system. In some examples, vehicles in a V2X system can communicate with roadside infrastructure (such as roadside units), or communicate with a network via one or more network nodes (e.g., base station 105) using vehicle-to-network (V2N) communication, or both.
[0130] The core network 130 may provide user authentication, access permission, tracking, Internet Protocol (IP) connection, and other access, routing or mobility functions. The core network 130 may be an evolved packet core (EPC) or a 5G core (5GC), which may include at least one control plane entity (e.g., a mobility management entity (MME), an access and mobility management function unit (AMF)) for managing access and mobility and at least one user plane entity (e.g., a serving gateway (S-GW), a packet data network (PDN) gateway (P-GW), or a user plane function unit (UPF)) for routing packets to an external network or interconnecting to an external network. The control plane entity may manage non-access stratum (NAS) functions, such as mobility, authentication, and bearer management for UE 115 served by a base station 105 associated with the core network 130. User IP packets may be transmitted through a user plane entity, which may provide IP address allocation and other functions. The user plane entity may be connected to a network operator IP service 150. Operator IP services 150 may include access to the Internet, an intranet, an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), or packet-switched streaming services.
[0131] Some of the network devices (such as base stations 105) may include subcomponents, such as access network entities 140, which may be examples of access node controllers (ANCs). Each access network entity 140 may communicate with UE 115 through one or more other access network transport entities 145 (which may be referred to as radio heads, smart radio heads, or transmit / receive points (TRPs)). Each access network transport entity 145 may include one or more antenna panels. In some configurations, the various functions of each access network entity 140 or base station 105 may be distributed across various network devices (e.g., radio heads and ANCs) or merged into a single network device (e.g., base station 105).
[0132] The wireless communication system 100 may operate using one or more frequency bands, typically in the range of 300 megahertz (MHz) to 300 gigahertz (GHz). Typically, the region from 300 MHz to 3 GHz is referred to as the ultra-high frequency (UHF) region or decimeter band because the wavelengths range from approximately one decimeter to one meter in length. UHF waves may be blocked or redirected by buildings and environmental features, but the waves may penetrate buildings sufficiently for macro cells to provide service to UEs 115 located indoors. Transmissions using UHF waves may be associated with smaller antennas and shorter distances (e.g., less than 100 kilometers) than transmissions using smaller frequencies and longer waves in the high frequency (HF) or very high frequency (VHF) portions of the spectrum below 300 MHz.
[0133] The wireless communication system 100 can utilize both licensed and unlicensed radio frequency spectrum bands. For example, the wireless communication system 100 can employ license assisted access (LAA), LTE unlicensed (LTE-U) radio access technology, or NR technology in an unlicensed band (such as the 5 GHz industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) band). When operating in an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band, devices (such as base stations 105 and UEs 115) can employ carrier sensing for conflict detection and avoidance. In some examples, operations in unlicensed bands can be based on a carrier aggregation configuration (e.g., LAA) in conjunction with component carriers operating in licensed bands. Operations in unlicensed spectrum can include downlink transmissions, uplink transmissions, P2P transmissions, or D2D transmissions, as well as other examples.
[0134] The base station 105 or UE 115 may be equipped with multiple antennas, which may be used to employ techniques such as transmit diversity, receive diversity, multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communications, or beamforming. The antennas of the base station 105 or UE 115 may be located within one or more antenna arrays or antenna panels (which may support MIMO operations or transmit or receive beamforming). For example, one or more base station antennas or antenna arrays may be co-located at an antenna assembly, such as an antenna tower. In some examples, the antennas or antenna arrays associated with the base station 105 may be located at different geographical locations. The base station 105 may have an antenna array having antenna ports of several rows and columns that the base station 105 may use to support beamforming of communications with the UE 115. Similarly, the UE 115 may have one or more antenna arrays that may support various MIMO or beamforming operations. Additionally or alternatively, the antenna panel may support radio frequency beamforming for signals sent via the antenna ports.
[0135] Beamforming (which may also be referred to as spatial filtering, directional transmission, or directional reception) is a signal processing technique that can be used at a transmitting device or a receiving device (e.g., a base station 105, a UE 115) to form or direct an antenna beam (e.g., a transmit beam, a receive beam) along a spatial path between the transmitting device and the receiving device. Beamforming can be achieved by combining signals transmitted via antenna elements of an antenna array so that some signals propagating in a specific orientation relative to the antenna array experience constructive interference, while other signals experience destructive interference. Adjustments to signals transmitted via antenna elements may include the transmitting device or the receiving device applying an amplitude offset, a phase offset, or both to signals carried via antenna elements associated with the device. Adjustments associated with each of the antenna elements may be defined by a set of beamforming weights associated with a specific orientation (e.g., relative to the antenna array of the transmitting device or the receiving device, or relative to some other orientation).
[0136] UE 115 and base station 105 can support retransmission of data to increase the possibility that the data is successfully received. Hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback is a technology for increasing the possibility that data is correctly received on communication link 125. HARQ can include a combination of error detection (e.g., using cyclic redundancy check (CRC)), forward error correction (FEC) and retransmission (e.g., automatic repeat request (ARQ)). HARQ can improve the throughput at the medium access control (MAC) layer under poor radio conditions (e.g., low signal and noise conditions). In some examples, the device can support HARQ feedback for the same time slot, wherein the device can provide HARQ feedback for data received in the previous symbol in the time slot in a specific time slot. In other cases, the device can provide HARQ feedback in subsequent time slots or according to some other time interval.
[0137] In some cases, UE 115 may have pending HARQ feedback for downlink communication and pending HARQ feedback for sidelink communication. In such a case, UE 115 can implement one of several solutions. In the first solution, UE 115 can determine whether downlink HARQ feedback and sidelink HARQ feedback are scheduled in different control channel resources in time. If yes, UE 115 can send two types of HARQ feedback in corresponding non-overlapping control channel resources. If not, UE 115 can discard one type of HARQ feedback and send another type of HARQ feedback in the corresponding control channel resources. In the second solution, a single control channel resource set can be reserved for HARQ feedback. UE 115 can determine the priority of each type of HARQ feedback and send HARQ feedback with higher priority in the control channel resource set. In the third solution, UE 115 can determine that downlink HARQ feedback and sidelink HARQ feedback are scheduled in overlapping resources. UE 115 may determine that the timing condition is met and send multiplexed downlink and sidelink HARQ feedback in a portion of the scheduled resources.
[0138] Figure 2 An example of a wireless communication system 200 supporting feedback reporting for a sidelink according to aspects of the present disclosure is shown. The wireless communication system 200 may include a base station 105-a, a UE 115-a-1, and a UE 115-a-2, which may be respectively as shown in FIG. Figure 1 An example of a base station 105 and a UE 115 is described. When both sidelink HARQ feedback and downlink HARQ feedback are pending at UE 115-a, UE 115-a-1 can use one or more techniques to send HARQ feedback. Although described with reference to HARQ feedback, the techniques described herein can be implemented for any type of feedback between UE 115 and another device.
[0139] The base station 105-a may communicate with wireless devices within the coverage area 205. For example, the base station 105-a may send downlink communications to the UE 115-a-1 via the downlink 210, and the base station 105-a may receive uplink communications from the UE 115-a-1 via the uplink 215. In some cases, communications between the base station 105-a and the UE 115-a-1 may be referred to as Uu communications because they are transmitted over the Uu interface between the base station 105-a and the UE 115-a-1. Similarly, HARQ feedback for Uu communications is referred to as Uu HARQ feedback.
[0140] The base station 105-a may send data to the UE 115-a-1 in resources of one or more downlink channels. For example, the base station 105-a may send downlink data to the UE 115-a-1 in resources (e.g., time and frequency resources) of a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH). To improve reliability, the UE 115-a may send HARQ feedback to the base station 105-a, the HARQ feedback indicating the reception status of the downlink data at the UE 115-a-1. For example, when the UE 115-a-1 successfully receives (e.g., decodes) the downlink data, the UE 115-a-1 may send an acknowledgment (ACK) to the base station 105-a, and when the UE 115-a-1 does not successfully receive the downlink data, the UE 115-a-1 may send a negative acknowledgment (NACK) to the base station 105-a. HARQ feedback may be sent on a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) or a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) between UE 115-a-1 and base station 105-a.
[0141] In addition to communicating with base station 105-a, UE 115-a-1 may also be able to communicate with UE 115-a-2 via sidelink 220. UE 115-a-1 may engage in sidelink communications with UE 115-a-2 when either UE 115-a has data for the other UE 115-a, or when data needs to be relayed between base station 105-a and UE 115-a-2 (e.g., UE 115-a-1 may act as an intermediary between base station 105-a and UE 115-a-2). In some cases, the sidelink communications may be V2X communications between wireless communication devices incorporated into or coupled to a vehicle.
[0142] UE 115-a-1 may support multiple resource allocation modes for sidelink communications. For example, UE 115-a-1 may implement sidelink communication with UE 115-a-2 in mode 1 or mode 2. In mode 1, UE 115-a-1 may be scheduled with sidelink resources (e.g., for sidelink transmissions) by base station 105-a. In one implementation of mode 1, base station 105-a may send downlink control information (DCI) including a dynamic grant to UE 115-a-1, the dynamic grant indicating resources (e.g., time and frequency) for one or more sidelink transmissions performed by UE 115-a-1 (e.g., the dynamic grant may indicate resources for sidelink transmissions of one or more transport blocks (TBs) of the same data). In some cases, the dynamic grant may indicate the number of time slots between receipt of the DCI and the first sidelink transmission. The time gap (or "slot offset") between the DCI and the first sidelink transmission may be based on (e.g., greater than) a processing time for UE 115-a-1. The processing time for UE 115-a-1 may refer to an amount of time (e.g., in symbols) for UE 115-a-1 to process between receiving scheduling information and transmitting in accordance with the scheduling information. In another implementation of Mode 1, base station 105-a may send a configuration grant (e.g., Type 1 or Type 2) to UE 115-a-1, indicating a set of periodic sidelink resources from which UE 115-a-1 may select a resource subset to transmit on the resource subset (e.g., UE 115-a-1 may select a resource subset to transmit one or more TBs).
[0143] In mode 2, UE 115-a-1 can determine the sidelink resources to be used independently of the scheduling from base station 105-a. For example, base station 105-a or the network can configure (e.g., pre-configure) UE 115-a-1 with sidelink resources so that UE 115-a-1 can autonomously select a configured set of resources for transmission. Therefore, UE 115-a-1 can be configured with a configuration grant similar to a type 1 grant for Uu communication. In some cases, UE 115 operating in mode 2 can assist other UE 115 in sidelink resource selection for sidelink communication. In addition or alternatively, UE 115 can schedule sidelink transmissions performed by other UE 115 on resources selected by UE 115.
[0144] Similar to Uu communication, for reliability purposes, sidelink communication may involve a HARQ feedback process. For example, UE115-a-1 may receive HARQ feedback for a sidelink transmission transmitted to UE 115-a-2 in a physical sidelink shared channel (PSSCH). The sidelink transmission may be a unicast transmission intended for a single UE 115 (e.g., UE 115-a-2) or a multicast or groupcast transmission intended for multiple receiving UEs 115. In some cases, a physical sidelink control channel (PSCCH) may be used to indicate the PSSCH resources used to carry the sidelink transmission. HARQ feedback for the PSSCH may be transmitted in a physical sidelink feedback channel (PSFCH). Although shown separately for ease of illustration, the PSFCH may be within a resource pool including a PSSCH for transmitting data associated with the HARQ feedback. In other words, the PSFCH including the HARQ feedback may be sent in the same resource pool as the PSSCH that transmits the corresponding sidelink transmission.
[0145] The PSFCH may occur periodically (e.g., within a resource pool configured for the sidelink) and may include N time slots. In addition, each PSFCH may be mapped to time, frequency, and code resources. When the PSFCH in a time slot is responsive to a single PSSCH, an implicit mechanism may be used to determine the frequency domain and / or code domain resources of the PSFCH within the configured resource pool. The parameters involved in the implicit mechanism may include a time slot index associated with the PSCCH, PSSCH, and / or PSFCH, a subchannel associated with the PSSCH and / or PSSCH, an identifier for distinguishing each receiving UE 115 in the group (e.g., for option 2 multicast HARQ feedback), a layer 1 source ID, location information, a sidelink signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINR), and / or a sidelink reference signal received power (RSRP).
[0146] The HARQ feedback process for sidelink communications may be enabled or disabled by configuration and may vary with the broadcast type. For example, when UE 115-a-2 receives a unicast sidelink transmission, UE 115-a-2 may send a HARQ ACK for each successfully decoded TB and a HARQ NACK for each unsuccessfully decoded TB. Thus, HARQ feedback for a sidelink transmission (e.g., for a sidelink TB) may include a bit representing a HARQ ACK or a HARQ NACK. UE 115-a-2 may have its own separate PSFCH resource for transmitting sidelink HARQ feedback for unicast transmissions.
[0147] When UE 115-a-2 receives a groupcast or multicast sidelink transmission, UE 115-a-2 may implement one of a plurality of options for its HARQ feedback process. In a first option, UE 115-a-2 may send a HARQ NACK for unsuccessfully decoded TBs and avoid sending a HARQ ACK for successfully decoded TBs (so that UE 115-a-1 is not overwhelmed by HARQ ACKs from UEs in the groupcast). When UE 115-a-2 implements the first option, UE 115-a-2 may share the PSFCH with all other UEs 115 that are targets of the groupcast / multicast (because only a few HARQ NACKs are expected). In a second option, UE 115-a-2 may send a HARQ ACK for successfully decoded TBs and send a HARQ NACK for unsuccessfully decoded TBs. When UE 115-a-2 implements the second option, UE 115-a-2 may have its own separate PSFCH that is different from the PSFCH used by other UEs 115 that are targeted in the groupcast / multicast (because a large amount of HARQ feedback is expected). Although described with reference to TBs, the HARQ process may be implemented on a code block (CB) or code block group (CBG) basis.
[0148] It should be understood that sidelink HARQ feedback can be sent by UE 115-a-1 and can also be received by UE 115-a-1. This means that in some cases, the PSFCH used for HARQ feedback from UE 115-a-1 and the PSFCH used for HARQ feedback intended for UE 115-a-1 may conflict (e.g., overlap). In such a scenario, UE 115-a-1 can choose to send HARQ feedback or receive HARQ based on a priority rule that prioritizes one HARQ feedback over another HARQ feedback. In some examples, the priority rule can be based on the priority of the associated PSSCH or PSCCH. In other examples, priority rules may prioritize HARQ feedback based on the direction of the HARQ feedback (e.g., transmit or receive), the broadcast type associated with the HARQ feedback (e.g., unicast or groupcast), the HARQ state (e.g., ACK or NACK), the conflict status of the associated PSSCH or PSCCH, the HARQ feedback options, or the number of transmissions / retransmissions of the PSSCH or PSCCH, and other parameters.
[0149] UE 115-a-1 may also experience a conflict when UE 115-a-1 is communicating with multiple UEs 115 or when UE 115-a-1 has received multiple transmissions from another UE 115. For example, a conflict may arise when UE 115-a-1 should send HARQ feedback to multiple UEs 115 in a single PSFCH. In such a case, UE 115-a-1 may select N HARQ feedback transmissions among the HARQ feedback transmissions for the PSFCH based on a priority rule, and discard the remaining HARQ feedback transmissions. In another example, a conflict may arise when UE 115-a-1 has multiple HARQ feedback bits for UE 115-a-2. In such a case, UE 115-a-1 may multiplex the HARQ feedback bits for transmission during the PSFCH, or select N HARQ feedback bits for transmission based on a priority rule.
[0150] After receiving the sidelink HARQ feedback from UE 115-a-2, UE 115-a-1 may send an indication of the sidelink HARQ feedback to base station 105-a (e.g., UE 115-a-1 may relay the sidelink HARQ feedback to base station 105-a). For example, when operating in mode 1, UE 115-a-1 may relay the HARQ NACK received from UE 115-a-2 to base station 105-a so that base station 105-a may schedule a sidelink retransmission of the corresponding data. The resources used to transmit the sidelink HARQ feedback to base station 105-a may be PUCCH resources, which may be based on an indication in a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) used to schedule the original sidelink transmission.
[0151] Given that UE 115-a-1 can report sidelink HARQ feedback and Uu HARQ feedback to base station 105-a-1, in some cases, UE 115-a-1 may have two types of HARQ feedback pending at the same time. For example, UE 115-a-1 may determine that it will send both sidelink HARQ feedback and Uu HARQ feedback to base station 105-a. According to the techniques described herein, UE 115-a-1 may implement one of several techniques to send HARQ feedback when such a scenario occurs. It should be understood that in some cases, reporting uplink control information (UCI) (such as HARQ feedback) can be based on using a different PUCCH codebook for each UCI.
[0152] In a first solution, the base station 105-a may define (e.g., configure or reserve) time division multiplexed (TDM) PUCCH resources for HARQ feedback. For example, the base station 105-a may configure a first resource pool within the PUCCH for transmission of Uu HARQ feedback, and the base station 105-a may configure a second resource pool within the PUCCH for transmission of sidelink HARQ feedback. Therefore, the base station 105-a may reserve a first set of resources for HARQ feedback for downlink transmissions, and reserve a second set of resources for HARQ feedback for sidelink transmissions. If the resource pools overlap in the time domain, the UE 115-a may send Uu HARQ feedback or sidelink HARQ feedback during the corresponding resource pool, and avoid sending other types of HARQ feedback. If the resource pools do not overlap in the time domain, the UE 115-a-1 may send both types of HARQ feedback in the corresponding resource pool.
[0153] In a second solution, the base station 105-a may define (e.g., configure) the same PUCCH resource set for Uu HARQ feedback and sidelink HARQ feedback. In this solution, the base station 105-a may avoid scheduling two types of HARQ feedback in a single PUCCH. However, if the UE 115-a-1 is scheduled to send both Uu HARQ feedback and sidelink HARQ feedback in a given PUCCH, the UE 115-a-1 may send one type of HARQ feedback and discard the other type of HARQ feedback. The UE 115-a-1 may determine which type of HARQ feedback to discard based on the relative priority of the HARQ feedback types. For example, if the Uu HARQ feedback has a higher priority than the sidelink HARQ feedback, the UE 115-a-1 may send the Uu HARQ feedback in the PUCCH resource set and avoid sending the sidelink HARQ feedback.
[0154] In a third solution, base station 105-a may schedule sidelink HARQ feedback in a set of PUCCH resources that overlap with PUCCH or PUSCH resources scheduled for Uu HARQ feedback. If UE 115-a-1 determines that the timing condition is met, UE 115-a-1 may multiplex the sidelink HARQ feedback with the Uu sidelink feedback and send both in the PUCCH or PUSCH resources scheduled for Uu HARQ feedback scheduling.
[0155] Although described with reference to HARQ feedback, the solutions described herein may be implemented for any type of feedback. In addition, aspects of one or more solutions may be combined aspects of one or more other solutions. In some cases, UE 115 may dynamically switch between solutions based on the communication environment and other factors such as delay tolerance and timing conditions.
[0156] Figure 3A An example of a wireless communication system 300-a supporting feedback reporting for a sidelink according to aspects of the present disclosure is shown. The wireless communication system 300-a may include a base station 105-b and a UE 115-b, which may be respectively as shown in FIG. Figure 1 An example of a base station 105 and a UE 115 is described. The wireless communication system 300-a may illustrate aspects of a first solution for sending HARQ feedback, as described herein and with reference to Figure 2 In some cases, when Uu and sidelink communications are delay tolerant, the first solution may be selected for use. This is because the first solution uses a small portion of the available PUCCH resources for each type of HARQ feedback, which may increase latency.
[0157] The base station 105-b may identify and configure a first resource pool 305 for Uu HARQ feedback within the PUCCH 310, and the base station 105-b may identify and configure a second resource pool 315 for sidelink HARQ feedback within the PUCCH 310. The resource pools may be time division multiplexed, and each resource pool may include a number of time slots. The base station 105-b may indicate the first resource pool 305 and the second resource pool 315 to the UE 115-b (e.g., in a DCI or configuration message). In addition, the base station 105-b may indicate the type of HARQ feedback that each resource pool is reserved for (e.g., the base station 105-b may indicate that the first resource pool 305 is reserved for Uu HARQ feedback and the resource pool 310 is reserved for sidelink HARQ feedback). Accordingly, UE 115-b may send Uu HARQ feedback in a resource pool configured for Uu HARQ feedback (e.g., resource pool 305), and UE 115-b may send sidelink HARQ feedback in a resource pool configured for sidelink HARQ feedback (e.g., resource pool 315). Using temporally different (e.g., non-overlapping) resource pools for different types of HARQ feedback may enable two types of transmissions in the same PUCCH.
[0158] In some cases, UE 115-a may determine that it has a periodic signal (e.g., periodic channel state information (P-CSI)) scheduled during a resource pool reserved for sidelink HARQ feedback. In such a case, UE 115-a may resolve the conflict by automatically discarding the periodic signal, regardless of whether UE 115-a has sidelink HARQ feedback to send in resource pool 315. Alternatively, UE 115-a may resolve the conflict by first determining whether it has sidelink HARQ feedback to send in resource pool 315. If UE 115-a has sidelink HARQ feedback to send, UE 115-a may discard the periodic signal; however, if UE 115-a does not have sidelink HARQ feedback to send, UE 115-a may send the periodic signal in resource pool 315.
[0159] In some cases, a resource pool may include or be composed of multiple smaller resource pools (e.g., sub-pools). For example, resource pool 315 may include resource pool 320 and resource pool 325, each of which may be associated with a corresponding sidelink (e.g., reserved for or dedicated to a corresponding sidelink). For example, resource pool 320 may be associated with a first sidelink (e.g., between UE 115-a and UE 115-b), and resource pool 325 may be associated with a second sidelink (e.g., between UE 115-a and a UE other than UE 115-b). Thus, resource pool 320 may carry sidelink HARQ feedback for data transmission between UE 115-a and the first UE, and resource pool 325 may carry sidelink HARQ feedback for data transmission between UE 115-a and the second UE. To facilitate such an implementation, base station 105-a may indicate to UE 115-a that resource pool 320 is reserved for sidelink HARQ feedback for a first sidelink between UE 115-a and a first UE, and base station 105-a may indicate to UE 115-a that resource pool 325 is reserved for sidelink HARQ feedback for a second sidelink between UE 115-a and a second UE.
[0160] In another example, resource pool 320 and resource pool 325 may each be associated with a type of sidelink broadcast (e.g., unicast, multicast). For example, resource pool 320 may be associated with a unicast sidelink transmission, and resource pool 325 may be associated with a multicast sidelink transmission. To facilitate such an implementation, base station 105-a may indicate to UE 115-a that resource pool 320 is reserved for HARQ feedback for unicast sidelink transmissions, and base station 105-a may indicate to UE 115-a that resource pool 325 is reserved for HARQ feedback for multicast sidelink transmissions.
[0161] Resource pool 320 and resource pool 325 may be time division multiplexed such that they are different in the time domain, or resource pool 320 and resource pool 325 may overlap in the time domain. When resource pool 320 and resource pool 325 overlap in the time domain, conflicts between the pools may be avoided via scheduling. If a conflict does occur, UE 115-b may consider the scheduling of one or both of the resource pools as an error.
[0162] Figure 3B An example of a wireless communication system 300-b supporting HARQ feedback reporting for a sidelink according to various aspects of the techniques described herein is shown. The wireless communication system 300-b may include a base station 105-c and a UE 115-c, which may be respectively as described with reference to Figure 1 The wireless communication system 300-b may illustrate aspects of a first solution for sending HARQ feedback, as described herein and with reference to Figure 2 Described.
[0163] The base station 105-c may configure a first resource pool 330 within a PUCCH 335 for Uu HARQ transmissions, and the base station 105-c may configure a second resource pool 340 within the PUCCH 335 for sidelink HARQ transmissions. In some cases, the resource pool 340 may include multiple smaller resource pools, and each smaller resource pool may be associated with a broadcast type or a sidelink resource pool. The resource pools 330 and 340 may overlap in the time domain, and each resource pool may include several time slots. The base station 105-c may indicate the first resource pool 330 and the second resource pool 340 to the UE 115-c. In addition, the base station 105-c may indicate the type of HARQ feedback associated with each resource pool. Using overlapping resource pools for different types of HARQ feedback may increase the number of specific types of HARQ feedback that may be transmitted in a given PUCCH.
[0164] Because resource pools 330 and 340 overlap, base station 105-c can avoid scheduling both Uu HARQ feedback and sidelink HARQ feedback in PUCCH 335. However, if (e.g., by base station 105-c or UE 115-c) two types of HARQ feedback are scheduled in PUCCH 335, UE 115-c can treat the scheduling of one type of HARQ feedback as an error and avoid sending that type of HARQ feedback in PUCCH. For example, UE 115-c can discard the transmission of Uu HARQ feedback and send the sidelink HARQ feedback in a resource pool configured for sidelink HARQ feedback (e.g., resource pool 340). Alternatively, UE 115-c can discard the transmission of sidelink HARQ feedback and send Uu HARQ feedback in a resource pool configured for Uu HARQ feedback (e.g., resource pool 330). Discarding transmission can include: ignoring or discarding data for transmission, avoiding transmission, and / or delaying transmission. In some cases, the UE 115-c may determine which type of HARQ feedback to discard based on the relative priority of the HARQ feedback types.
[0165] Figure 4 An example of a process flow 400 for supporting feedback reporting for a sidelink in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure is shown. In some examples, the process flow 400 may implement aspects of wireless communication systems 100, 200, and 300-a. For example, the process flow 400 may include a UE 115-d and a base station 105-d, and these devices may be implemented herein and with respect to Figure 3A In the following description of process flow 400, operations between base station 105-d and UE 115-d may occur in a different order than the exemplary order shown, or operations performed by the devices may be performed in a different order or at a different time. Certain operations may also be omitted from process flow 400, or other operations may be added to process flow 400.
[0166] At 405, the base station 105-d may identify a first resource pool (e.g., a first set of resources) for Uu HARQ feedback within the PUCCH. At 410, the base station 105-d may identify a second resource pool (e.g., a second set of resources) for sidelink HARQ feedback within the PUCCH. The first and second resource pools may be different in the time domain (e.g., the first and second resource pools may not overlap in the time domain). Thus, the first resource pool may include a first set of symbols that is different from a second set of symbols included in the second resource pool.
[0167] In some examples, base station 105-d may identify, at 415, multiple subpools within a resource pool for sidelink HARQ feedback. For example, base station 105-d may identify a first subpool and a second subpool. Base station 105-d may associate each subpool with a particular broadcast type or sidelink device pair. For example, base station 105-d may associate a first subpool with a first broadcast type (e.g., unicast) and a second subpool with a second broadcast type (e.g., multicast). Or base station 105-d may associate a first subpool with a first sidelink device pair (e.g., UE 115-d and a second UE) and associate a second subpool with a second sidelink device pair (e.g., UE 115-d and a third UE).
[0168] At 420, the base station 105-d may send, and the UE 115-d may receive, an indication of the resource pools identified at 405, 410, and or 415. For example, the base station 105-d may send an indication of a first resource pool for Uu HARQ feedback, and the base station 105-d may send an indication of a second resource pool for sidelink HARQ feedback. The base station 105-d may also send an indication of the type of feedback to be sent in each resource pool. Thus, the base station 105-d may send an indication of the type of feedback that the base station 105-d expects to receive in each resource pool. In some cases, the base station 105-d may also include an indication of the sub-pools identified at 415 and an indication of the broadcast type or sidelink pairing associated with each sub-pool. In some cases, the indication of the sidelink pairing may include a sidelink identifier (ID) assigned to two devices involved in the sidelink pairing.
[0169] The various indications sent at 420 may be included in a single message or in multiple different messages. In some cases, the message may be a configuration message that establishes a resource pool that occurs periodically. In other cases, the message may be a DCI message that establishes a resource pool for a specific uplink transmission.
[0170] At 425, the UE 115-d may determine a resource pool for Uu HARQ feedback based on the first indication received from the base station 105-d. At 430, the UE 115-d may determine a resource pool for sidelink HARQ feedback based on the second indication received from the base station 105-d. At 435, the UE 115-d may determine that the resource pools do not overlap in the time domain. Therefore, at 440, the UE 115-d may send the Uu HARQ feedback in the resource pool for Uu HARQ feedback, and the UE 115-d may send the sidelink HARQ feedback in the resource pool for sidelink HARQ feedback.
[0171] In some examples, UE 115-d may send sidelink HARQ feedback for a first broadcast type (e.g., unicast) in a first sub-pool of a second resource pool, and UE 115-d may send sidelink HARQ feedback for a second broadcast type (e.g., multicast) in a second sub-pool of the second resource pool. In other examples, UE 115-d may send sidelink HARQ feedback for a first sidelink device pair (e.g., UE 115-d and a second UE) in a first sub-pool of the second resource pool, and UE 115-d may send sidelink HARQ feedback for a sidelink device pair (e.g., UE 115-d and a third UE) in a second sub-pool of the second resource pool.
[0172] Figure 5 An example of a process flow 500 for supporting feedback reporting for a sidelink according to aspects of the present disclosure is shown. In some examples, the process flow 500 can implement aspects of wireless communication systems 100, 200, and 300-b. For example, the process flow 500 can include a UE 115-e and a base station 105-e, and these devices can be implemented herein and with respect to Figure 3B In the following description of process flow 500, operations between base station 105-e and UE 115-e may occur in a different order than the exemplary order shown, or operations performed by the devices may be performed in a different order or at a different time. Certain operations may also be omitted from process flow 500, or other operations may be added to process flow 500.
[0173] At 505, the base station 105-e may identify a first resource pool (e.g., a first resource set) for Uu HARQ feedback within the PUCCH. At 510, the base station 105-e may identify a second resource pool (e.g., a second resource set) for sidelink HARQ feedback within the PUCCH. The first and second resource pools may overlap in the time domain. Thus, one or more symbols included in the first resource pool may also be included in the second resource pool.
[0174] In some examples, base station 105-e can identify multiple sub-pools within a resource pool for sidelink HARQ feedback. For example, base station 105-e can identify a first sub-pool and a second sub-pool within a second resource pool. Base station 105-e can associate each sub-pool with a particular broadcast type or sidelink device pair.
[0175] At 515, the base station 105-e may send, and the UE 115-e may receive, indications of the resource pools identified at 505 and 510. For example, the base station 105-e may send an indication of a first resource pool for Uu HARQ feedback, and the base station 105-e may send an indication of a second resource pool for sidelink HARQ feedback. The base station 105-e may also send an indication of the type of feedback to be sent in each resource pool. Thus, the base station 105-e may send an indication of the type of feedback that the base station 105-e expects to receive in each resource pool. In some cases, the base station 105-e may also include an indication of any sub-pools in the second resource pool and an indication of the broadcast type or sidelink pairing associated with each sub-pool.
[0176] The various indications sent at 515 may be included in a single message or in multiple different messages. In some cases, the message may be a configuration message that establishes a resource pool that occurs periodically. In other cases, the message may be a DCI message that establishes a resource pool for a specific uplink transmission.
[0177] At 520, the UE 115-e may determine a resource pool for Uu HARQ feedback based on a first indication received from the base station 105-d. At 525, the UE 115-e may determine a resource pool for sidelink HARQ feedback based on a second indication received from the base station 105-e. At 530, the UE 115-e may determine that the resource pools overlap in the time domain. Therefore, at 535, the UE 115-e may discard the Uu HARQ feedback or the sidelink HARQ feedback. The UE 115-e may determine which type of HARQ feedback to discard based on the configuration of the UE 115-e or based on the priority of the HARQ feedback type. At 540, the UE 115-e may send HARQ feedback of the type not discarded at 535. For example, when the UE 115-e discards the sidelink HARQ feedback at 535, the UE 115-e may send the Uu HARQ feedback in the resource pool for Uu HARQ feedback. Alternatively, when the UE 115 - e discards the Uu HARQ feedback at 535 , the UE 115 - e may send the sidelink HARQ feedback in a resource pool for the sidelink HARQ feedback.
[0178] Figure 6 An example of a wireless communication system 600 supporting feedback reporting for a sidelink according to aspects of the present disclosure is shown. The wireless communication system 600 may include a base station 105-f and a UE 115-f, which may be respectively as shown in FIG. Figure 1The wireless communication system 600 may illustrate aspects of a second solution for sending HARQ feedback, as described herein and with reference to FIG. Figure 2 When the Uu or sidelink communication is delay sensitive, the second solution may be selected for use. This is because the entire available PUCCH may be used to send HARQ feedback for delay sensitive communication, which may reduce the latency in the HARQ process.
[0179] The base station 105-f may identify and configure a resource pool 605 within the PUCCH 610 for any type of HARQ feedback (e.g., UuHARQ feedback and sidelink HARQ feedback). In some examples, the base station 105-f may schedule HARQ feedback in the resource pool 605 without first configuring the resource pool 605. When only one type of HARQ feedback is scheduled in the PUCCH 610, the UE 115-f may send HARQ feedback for that type in the resource pool 605 (e.g., in available transmission opportunities). However, if two types of HARQ feedback are scheduled in the PUCCH 610, the UE 115-f may determine to send one type of HARQ feedback in the resource pool 605 and discard the other type of HARQ feedback.
[0180] UE 115-f may determine which type of HARQ feedback to send (and which type to discard) based on a relative priority associated with or assigned to the type of HARQ feedback. For example, UE 115-f may send higher priority HARQ feedback in resource pool 605 and discard lower priority HARQ feedback. If the HARQ feedback priorities are the same, UE 115-f may be configured to discard one and send the other. For example, UE 115-f may be configured to discard Uu HARQ feedback and send sidelink HARQ feedback in resource pool 605. Or UE 115-f may be configured to discard sidelink HARQ feedback and send Uu HARQ feedback in resource pool 605. Alternatively, UE 115-f may determine which type of HARQ feedback with the same priority based on configuration information from base station 105-f.
[0181] The priority of HARQ feedback may be indicated in a variety of ways. For example, the priority of HARQ feedback may be indicated by physical layer or higher layer signaling, and the priority may be indicated implicitly or explicitly. In one example, the priority of Uu HARQ feedback may be indicated by a bit in the DCI that schedules the corresponding downlink data transmission. In another example, the size or format of the DCI may indicate the Uu HARQ feedback priority. In another example, a CORESET or a search space may indicate the priority of Uu HARQ feedback. Alternatively, the priority of Uu HARQ feedback may be indicated by the HARQ-ACK codebook used for the HARQ report.
[0182] The priority of the sidelink HARQ feedback may be indicated in the same manner as the priority of the Uu HARQ feedback or in a different manner. In one example, the priority of the sidelink HARQ feedback may be indicated by a bit in the DCI that schedules the corresponding sidelink data transmission. In another example, the size or format of the DCI may indicate the sidelink HARQ feedback priority. In another example, the priority of the sidelink HARQ feedback may be indicated by a CORESET or a search space. In another example, the priority of the sidelink HARQ feedback may be indicated by a HARQ-ACK codebook for HARQ reporting. In another example, the configuration of a resource pool (e.g., a resource pool including PSSCH and PSFCH) may indicate the priority of the sidelink HARQ feedback. In another example, the priority of the sidelink HARQ feedback may be implicitly indicated by the priority of the logical channel from which the sidelink data is obtained to be sent on the PSSCH. In another example, the priority of the sidelink HARQ feedback may be implicitly indicated by the broadcast type (e.g., unicast, multicast, groupcast, etc.) of the sidelink transmission.
[0183] Figure 7 An example of a process flow 700 for supporting feedback reporting for a sidelink according to aspects of the present disclosure is shown. In some examples, the process flow 700 can implement aspects of the wireless communication systems 100, 200, and 600. For example, the process flow 700 can include a UE 115-g and a base station 105-g, and these devices can be implemented herein and with respect to Figure 6 In the following description of process flow 700, operations between base station 105-g and UE 115-g may occur in a different order than the exemplary order shown, or operations performed by the devices may be performed in a different order or at a different time. Certain operations may also be omitted from process flow 700, or other operations may be added to process flow 700.
[0184] At 705, the base station 105-g may identify PUCCH resources for providing HARQ feedback. At 710, the base station 105-g may send and the UE 115-g may receive an indication of the resources identified at 705. At 715, the base station 105-g may send an indication of one or more priorities to the UE 115-g. The priorities may be for a particular type of HARQ feedback or for a particular communication corresponding to the HARQ feedback. For example, the base station 105-g may send a first priority for Uu HARQ feedback and a second priority for sidelink HARQ feedback. Alternatively, the base station 105-g may send a first priority for a particular Uu HARQ feedback set (e.g., a Uu HARQ feedback set corresponding to a particular downlink data transmission) and a second priority for a particular sidelink HARQ feedback set (e.g., a sidelink HARQ feedback set corresponding to a particular sidelink data transmission). Prior to sending the priority, the base station 105 - g may determine the priority (eg, based on a configuration from the network or based on one or more criteria established by the base station 105 - g ).
[0185] In one example, the base station 105-g may use a bit in a DCI message that schedules downlink or sidelink transmissions to indicate a priority. In such an example, the UE 115-g may determine the priority of a type of HARQ feedback or a specific set of HARQ feedback data by referring to the bits in the DCI message. For example, a set bit in a DCI message that schedules downlink data may indicate a first priority for Uu HARQ feedback, and an empty bit may indicate a second priority for Uu HARQ feedback. In some cases, the indicated priority may be for a specific Uu HARQ feedback set rather than the general Uu HARQ feedback.
[0186] In another example, the base station 105-g may indicate a priority by associating the priority with the size of the DCI message and then sending a DCI message of that size. In such an example, the UE 115-g may determine the priority of a type of HARQ feedback or a specific HARQ feedback data set by reference to the size of the DCI message. For example, a first size of a DCI message scheduling downlink data may indicate a first priority for Uu HARQ feedback, and a second size may indicate a second priority for Uu HARQ feedback. In some cases, the indicated priority may be for a specific Uu HARQ feedback set rather than general Uu HARQ feedback.
[0187] In another example, the base station 105-g may indicate the priority by associating the priority with the broadcast type and sending an indication of the association to the UE 115-g. In such an example, the UE 115-g may determine the priority for a particular set of HARQ feedback data based on the broadcast type of the corresponding data. For example, the base station 105-g may associate a first priority with unicast data and send an indication of the association to the UE 115-g. When the UE 115-g receives HARQ feedback corresponding to the unicast data, the UE 115-g may determine that the priority for the HARQ feedback is the priority associated with the unicast data.
[0188] In another example, the base station 105-g may indicate the priority by associating the priority with a configuration of a sidelink resource pool (e.g., a sidelink resource pool including a PSSCH and a corresponding PSFCH) and sending an indication of the association to the UE 115-g. In such an example, the UE 115-g may determine the priority for a particular set of HARQ feedback data based on the configuration of the sidelink resource pool that transmits the sidelink data corresponding to the HARQ feedback data.
[0189] In another example, the base station 105-g may indicate the priority by associating the priority with a control region (e.g., CORESET) of a control channel and sending an indication of the association to the UE 115-g. In such an example, the UE 115-g may determine the priority for a particular set of HARQ feedback data based on the control region including information for scheduling data corresponding to the HARQ feedback data.
[0190] In another example, the base station 105-g may indicate the priority by associating the priority with a search space of a control channel and sending an indication of the association to the UE 115-g. In such an example, the UE 115-g may determine the priority for a particular set of HARQ feedback data based on the search space including information for scheduling data corresponding to the HARQ feedback data.
[0191] In another example, the base station 105-g may indicate the priority by associating the priority with a codebook and sending an indication of the association to the UE 115-g. In such an example, the UE 115-g may determine the priority for a type of HARQ feedback data or a particular set of HARQ feedback data based on the codebook used for data corresponding to the HARQ feedback.
[0192] At 720, the UE 115-g may determine resources for HARQ feedback based on the indication received at 710. At 725, the UE 115-g may determine a priority for the HARQ feedback. For example, the UE 115-g may determine a first priority for Uu HARQ feedback and a second priority for sidelink HARQ feedback. In some cases, the UE 115-g may determine the priority based on one or more indications received from the base station 105-g at 715. In other cases, the UE 115-g may determine the priority autonomously. In one example, the UE 115-g may determine the priority of the sidelink HARQ feedback data set by determining the priority of a logical channel associated with the sidelink data corresponding to the sidelink HARQ feedback data set.
[0193] At 730, the UE 115-g may compare the first priority for the Uu HARQ feedback with the second priority for the sidelink HARQ feedback. At 735, the UE 115-g may discard one type of HARQ feedback based on the comparison of the priorities. For example, if the UE 115-g determines that the first priority for the Uu HARQ feedback is higher than the second priority for the sidelink HARQ feedback, the UE 115-g may discard the sidelink HARQ feedback. If the UE 115-g determines that the priorities are the same, the UE 115-g may refer to a rule configured at the UE 115-g that indicates which type of HARQ feedback should be discarded in such a case. For example, if the rule indicates that the Uu HARQ feedback should be discarded when the priorities are equal, the UE 115-g may discard the Uu HARQ feedback.
[0194] At 740, the UE 115-g may send the type of HARQ feedback that the UE 115-g did not discard at 735. For example, if the UE 115-g discarded Uu HARQ feedback at 735, the UE 115-g may send sidelink HARQ feedback on the resources used for HARQ feedback. Alternatively, if the UE 115-g discarded sidelink HARQ feedback at 735, the UE 115-g may send Uu HARQ feedback on the resources. Thus, the UE 115-g may send HARQ feedback with a higher priority relative to other types of HARQ feedback.
[0195] Figure 8 An example of a wireless communication system 800 supporting feedback reporting for a sidelink according to aspects of the present disclosure is shown. The wireless communication system 800 may include a base station 105-h and a UE 115-h, which may be respectively as shown in FIG. Figure 1The wireless communication system 800 may illustrate aspects of a third solution for sending HARQ feedback, as described herein and with reference to Figure 2 Described.
[0196] The base station 105-h may reserve and / or schedule a resource pool 805 for Uu HARQ feedback from the UE 115-h within the PUCCH 810. However, the resource pool 805 may overlap at least partially in time with a resource pool reserved and / or scheduled for sidelink HARQ feedback from the UE 115-h. In such a case, the UE 115-h may detect the overlap and determine whether a timing condition is met for sending multiplexed Uu and sidelink HARQ feedback in the resource pool 805 scheduled for Uu HARQ feedback. If the timing condition is met, the UE 115-h may multiplex the Uu HARQ feedback with the sidelink HARQ feedback and send both types of HARQ feedback in the resource pool 805 scheduled for Uu HARQ feedback.
[0197] Fig. 9 An example of a wireless communication system 900 supporting feedback reporting for a sidelink according to aspects of the present disclosure is shown. The wireless communication system 900 may include a base station 105-i, a UE 115-i, a UE 115-j, and a UE 115-k, which may be respectively as shown in FIG. Figure 1 The wireless communication system 900 may illustrate aspects of a third solution for sending HARQ feedback, as described herein and with reference to Figure 8 Described.
[0198] Base station 105-i may send scheduling information to UE 115-i in downlink control information (e.g., DCI 905). The downlink control information may indicate sidelink resources (e.g., PSSCH resources) that UE 115-i will use for sidelink transmissions to UE 115-j and UE 115-k. Thus, UE 115-i may determine the PSSCH resources for sidelink transmissions to UE 115-j and UE 115-k based on the downlink control information from base station 105-i. UE 115-i may indicate the determined PSSCH resources to UE 115-j and UE 115-k in sidelink control information (SCI) (e.g., SCI 910), and send data to UE 115-j and UE 115-k in the indicated PSSCH resources (e.g., PSSCH 915).
[0199] Both UE 115-j and UE 115-k may send HARQ feedback for sidelink data transmitted in PSSCH resources. For example, UE 115-j may send HARQ feedback in PSFCH 920, and UE 115-k may send HARQ feedback in PSFCH 925. Transmission of PSFCH 920 may occur after a first duration (e.g., N') has elapsed since the last symbol of PSSCH received by UE 115-j. Transmission of PSFCH 925 may occur after a second duration (e.g., N") has elapsed since the last symbol of PSSCH received by UE 115-k.
[0200] As previously noted, each PSFCH carrying HARQ feedback for sidelink data may be sent in the same resource pool that includes the PSSCH carrying the sidelink data. Therefore, if the resource pool including the PSSCH stops at time t2, any PSFCH that transmits HARQ feedback must be sent before time t2. It should also be understood that due to processing constraints at UE 115, UE 115 may be delayed in the transmitted PSFCH. For example, UE 115 may require x symbols of processing time between receiving a data transmission via the PSSCH and sending the corresponding HARQ feedback via the PSFCH. Therefore, the earliest opportunity for HARQ feedback transmission may occur at time t1. With these two constraints, UE 115-i can expect to receive all PSFCHs carrying HARQ feedback between time t1 and time t2.
[0201] After receiving HARQ feedback from UE 115-j and UE 115-k, UE 115-i can determine to send sidelink HARQ feedback indicating the HARQ feedback to base station 105-i. For example, UE 115-i can determine that it will send sidelink HARQ feedback in PUCCH resource 930 after duration N'" has passed. The duration N'" can represent the processing time used by UE 115-i for sidelink communication (e.g., PSSCH or PSFCH communication). Therefore, N'" can be the processing time used by UE 115-i between receiving the last symbol of the last PSFCH and sending the corresponding HARQ feedback on the first symbol of PUCCH resource 930 or PUCCH / PUSCH resource 935.
[0202] However, in some cases, the PUCCH resources 930 scheduled for sidelink HARQ feedback may overlap with the PUCCH or PUSCH resources 935 scheduled for Uu HARQ feedback. In such a case, the UE 115-i can determine whether the timing conditions for multiplexing the sidelink HARQ feedback with the Uu HARQ feedback are met. For example, the UE 115-i can determine whether the time gap between the last symbol of the last PSFCH and the first symbol involving the overlapping resources is greater than or equal to the duration N". If the time gap is greater than or equal to the duration N", the UE 115-i can multiplex the sidelink HARQ feedback with the Uu HARQ feedback and send both on the resources scheduled for sidelink HARQ feedback and / or the resources scheduled for Uu HARQ feedback. If the time gap is less than N", UE 115-i can discard either Uu HARQ feedback or sidelink HARQ feedback and send the other. Therefore, UE 115-i can determine whether to multiplex HARQ feedback based on the last symbol of the last PSFCH received by UE 115-i, based on the processing time of UE 115-i, and based on the first symbol of PUCCH or PUSCH on which UE 115-i intends to send either type of HARQ feedback.
[0203] In another example, UE 115-i may determine whether a time gap between the last symbol of the last PSFCH and the first symbol involving overlapping resources is greater than durations N1 and N2, where N1 represents a processing time for UE 115-i for downlink communication (e.g., PDSCH communication) in a number of symbols, and N2 represents a preparation time for UE 115-i for uplink communication (e.g., PUSCH communication) in a number of symbols. If the time gap is greater than or equal to durations N1 and N2, UE 115-i may multiplex sidelink HARQ feedback with Uu HARQ feedback and send both on resources scheduled for sidelink HARQ feedback and / or resources scheduled for Uu HARQ feedback. If the time gap is less than N1 or N2, UE 115-i may discard Uu HARQ feedback or sidelink HARQ feedback and send the other.
[0204] The timing condition may be one of multiple aspects considered by the UE 115-i in determining whether to multiplex Uu and sidelink HARQ feedback. In some cases, the UE 115-i may determine whether to multiplex Uu and sidelink HARQ feedback based on the priority of each type of HARQ feedback. For example, if the priorities associated with the Uu and sidelink HARQ feedback are the same, the UE 115-i may determine to multiplex Uu and sidelink HARQ feedback. If the priorities are different, the UE 115-i may choose to forgo transmission for lower priority HARQ feedback and send higher priority HARQ feedback. Alternatively, the UE 115-i may declare an error for lower priority HARQ feedback and / or higher priority HARQ feedback.
[0205] Fig.10 An example of a process flow 1000 for supporting feedback reporting for a sidelink according to aspects of the present disclosure is shown. In some examples, the process flow 1000 can implement aspects of wireless communication systems 100, 200, 800, and 900. For example, the process flow 1000 can include a UE 115-1 and a base station 105-1, and these devices can implement as described herein and with respect to Figure 8 and 9 In the following description of process flow 1000, operations between base station 105-1 and UE 115-1 may occur in a different order than the exemplary order shown, or operations performed by the devices may be performed in a different order or at a different time. Certain operations may also be omitted from process flow 1000, or other operations may be added to process flow 1000.
[0206] At 1005, the base station 105-1 may send scheduling information to the UE 115-1, the scheduling information indicating one or more control channel resource sets for HARQ feedback. For example, the scheduling information may include an indication of a first resource set (e.g., PUSCH or PUCCH resources) for Uu HARQ feedback and a second resource set (e.g., PUCCH resources) for sidelink HARQ feedback. At 1010, the UE 115-1 may determine that the Uu HARQ feedback is scheduled in the first resource set. At 1015, the UE 115-1 may determine that the sidelink HARQ feedback is scheduled in the second resource set. The UE 115-1 may also determine that the second resource set overlaps with the first resource set. Therefore, the UE 115-1 may determine that the transmission opportunities for Uu and sidelink HARQ feedback overlap. Although described with reference to scheduling performed by base station 105-1, conflicts between resources may be caused by independent actions of UE 115-1 (e.g., UE 115-1 may autonomously determine that it is to send Uu or sidelink HARQ feedback in certain resources based on the configuration or feedback timing requirements of UE 115-1).
[0207] At 1020, UE 115-1 may determine that a first timing condition is satisfied. For example, UE 115-1 may determine that a gap between a last symbol of a PSFCH carrying sidelink HARQ data and a first symbol of a first resource set or a second resource set (whichever is earlier) exceeds a first threshold duration. In some cases, the first threshold duration is a sidelink processing time of UE 115-1 (e.g., the first threshold duration may be equal to N'").
[0208] At 1025, UE 115-1 may determine that a second timing condition is satisfied. For example, UE 115-1 may determine that a gap between a last symbol of the PSFCH carrying sidelink HARQ data and a first symbol of the first resource set or the second resource set (whichever is earlier) exceeds a second threshold duration. In some cases, the second threshold duration is a function of a downlink processing time of UE 115-1 and an uplink preparation time of UE 115-1 (e.g., the second threshold duration may be equal to N1 / N2).
[0209] At 1030, UE 115-1 may multiplex Uu HARQ feedback and sidelink HARQ feedback based on a determination that both the first and second timing conditions are satisfied. In some cases, UE 115-1 may determine whether to multiplex HARQ feedback based on the priority of Uu and sidelink HARQ feedback. For example, when the priorities are equal, UE 115-1 may choose to multiplex HARQ feedback. Otherwise, UE 115-1 may discard the lower priority HARQ feedback and send the higher priority HARQ feedback. At 1035, UE 115-1 may send the multiplexed HARQ feedback in some or all of the resources in the first resource set and / or the second resource set.
[0210] Fig.11 A block diagram 1100 of a device 1105 supporting feedback reporting for a sidelink according to aspects of the present disclosure is shown. The device 1105 may be an example of aspects of a UE 115 as described herein. The device 1105 may include a receiver 1110, a communication manager 1115, and a transmitter 1120. The device 1105 may also include a processor. Each of these components may communicate with each other (e.g., via one or more buses).
[0211] The receiver 1110 may receive information, such as packets, user data, or control information associated with various information channels (e.g., control channels, data channels, and information related to feedback reports for sidelinks, etc.). The information may be communicated to other components of the device 1105. The receiver 1110 may be a reference Fig.14 Examples of various aspects of the transceiver 1420 are described. The receiver 1110 may utilize a single antenna or a collection of antennas.
[0212] In one example, the communication manager 1115 may perform the following operations: receiving from a base station an indication of a first set of resources within an uplink control channel, the first set of resources being reserved for providing feedback for downlink communications to a UE; receiving from a base station an indication of a second set of resources within an uplink control channel, the second set of resources being reserved for providing feedback for sidelink communications between a UE and a second UE; and sending to the base station at least one of feedback for downlink communications in the first set of resources in the uplink control channel or feedback for sidelink communications in the second set of resources in the uplink control channel.
[0213] In another example, the communication manager 1115 may perform the following operations: receive an indication of a resource set within an uplink control channel from a base station, the resource set being reserved for providing feedback for communications to a UE; determine a first priority for feedback for downlink communications and a second priority for feedback for sidelink communications; and send feedback for downlink communications in the resource set to the base station or send feedback for sidelink communications in the resource set to the base station based on the first priority and the second priority.
[0214] In another example, the communication manager 1115 may perform the following operations: receive an indication of a resource set reserved for uplink transmission from a UE from a base station; determine a first priority for information related to downlink communications and a second priority for information related to sidelink communications; and send information related to downlink communications in a resource set or information related to sidelink communications in the resource set to the base station based at least in part on the first priority and the second priority.
[0215] In another example, the communication manager 1115 may perform the following operations: determine that feedback for downlink communication is scheduled in a first uplink control channel resource set; determine that feedback for sidelink communication is scheduled in a second uplink control channel resource set that overlaps at least partially in time with the first uplink control channel resource set; determine that a timing condition is satisfied based on the first uplink control channel resource set or the second uplink control channel resource set; and multiplex the feedback for downlink communication and the feedback for sidelink communication based on determining that the timing condition is satisfied. The communication manager 1115 may be an example of aspects of the communication manager 1410 described herein.
[0216] The actions performed by the communication manager 1115 as described herein may be implemented to achieve one or more potential advantages. For example, the communication manager 1115 may be configured to facilitate any of the solutions described herein that may improve feedback reporting. In addition, the promotion of the first solution may allow the device 1105 to send two types of HARQ feedback in a single control channel, which may improve downlink and sidelink communications. Compared to other solutions, the first solution may also use fewer processing resources at the device 1105 because decisions about priority and multiplexing are avoided. The promotion of the second solution may allow the device 1105 to prioritize one type of HARQ feedback over another type of HARQ feedback, which may ensure that important data is transmitted. Compared to other solutions, the second solution may also reduce latency because the entire control channel resource set reserved for HARQ feedback is used for a single type of HARQ feedback. And, the promotion of the third solution may allow the device 1105 to send two types of HARQ feedback in a smaller resource set than the resource set reserved for the two types of HARQ feedback. Therefore, the third solution may improve efficiency by reducing the amount of time and frequency resources used to transmit HARQ feedback.
[0217] The communication manager 1115 or its subcomponents may be implemented in hardware, in code (e.g., software or firmware) executed by a processor, or any combination thereof. If implemented in code executed by a processor, the functions of the communication manager 1115 or its subcomponents may be performed by a general purpose processor, a digital signal processor (DSP), an application specific integrated circuit (ASIC), a field programmable gate array (FPGA) or other programmable logic device, discrete gate or transistor logic, discrete hardware components, or any combination thereof designed to perform the functions described in the present disclosure.
[0218] The communication manager 1115 or its subcomponents may be physically located at various locations, including being distributed such that portions of functionality are implemented by one or more physical components at different physical locations. In some examples, according to various aspects of the present disclosure, the communication manager 1115 or its subcomponents may be separate and distinct components. In some examples, according to various aspects of the present disclosure, the communication manager 1115 or its subcomponents may be combined with one or more other hardware components (including, but not limited to, input / output (I / O) components, a transceiver, a network server, another computing device, one or more other components described in the present disclosure, or a combination thereof).
[0219] The transmitter 1120 may transmit signals generated by other components of the device 1105. In some examples, the transmitter 1120 may be co-located with the receiver 1110 in a transceiver module. For example, the transmitter 1120 may be a reference Fig.14 Examples of various aspects of the transceiver 1420 are described. The transmitter 1120 may utilize a single antenna or a collection of antennas.
[0220] Fig.12 A block diagram 1200 of a device 1205 supporting feedback reporting for a sidelink according to aspects of the present disclosure is shown. The device 1205 may be an example of aspects of the device 1105 or UE 115 as described herein. The device 1205 may include a receiver 1210, a communication manager 1215, and a transmitter 1235. The device 1205 may also include a processor. Each of these components may communicate with each other (e.g., via one or more buses).
[0221] The receiver 1210 may receive information, such as packets, user data, or control information associated with various information channels (e.g., control channels, data channels, and information related to feedback reports for sidelinks, etc.). The information may be communicated to other components of the device 1205. The receiver 1210 may be a reference Fig.14 Examples of various aspects of the transceiver 1420 are described. The receiver 1210 may utilize a single antenna or a collection of antennas.
[0222] The communications manager 1215 may be an example of aspects of the communications manager 1115 as described herein. The communications manager 1215 may include a downlink component 1220, an uplink component 1225, and a scheduling component 1230. The communications manager 1215 may be an example of aspects of the communications manager 1410 as described herein.
[0223] In a first example, downlink component 1220 may receive from a base station an indication of a first set of resources within an uplink control channel, the first set of resources being reserved for providing feedback for downlink communications to the UE. Downlink component 1220 may also receive from a base station an indication of a second set of resources within an uplink control channel, the second set of resources being reserved for providing feedback for sidelink communications between the UE and a second UE. Uplink component 1225 may send to the base station at least one of feedback for downlink communications in the first set of resources of the uplink control channel or feedback for sidelink communications in the second set of resources of the uplink control channel.
[0224] In a second example, the downlink component 1220 can receive an indication of a resource set within an uplink control channel from a base station, the resource set being reserved for providing feedback for communications to a UE. The scheduling component 1230 can determine a first priority for feedback for downlink communications and a second priority for feedback for sidelink communications. And the uplink component 1225 can send feedback for downlink communications in the resource set to the base station or send feedback for sidelink communications in the resource set to the base station based on the first priority and the second priority.
[0225] In a third example, the scheduling component 1230 can perform the following operations: determine that feedback for downlink communication is scheduled in a first uplink control channel resource set; determine that feedback for sidelink communication is scheduled in a second uplink control channel resource set that overlaps at least partially in time with the first uplink control channel resource set; and determine that the timing condition is met based on the first uplink control channel resource set or the second uplink control channel resource set. The uplink component 1225 can multiplex the feedback for downlink communication and the feedback for sidelink communication based on determining that the timing condition is met.
[0226] The transmitter 1235 can transmit signals generated by other components of the device 1205. In some examples, the transmitter 1235 can be co-located with the receiver 1210 in a transceiver module. For example, the transmitter 1235 can be a reference Fig.14 Examples of various aspects of the transceiver 1420 are described. The transmitter 1235 can utilize a single antenna or a collection of antennas.
[0227] Fig.13 A block diagram 1300 of a communication manager 1305 supporting feedback reporting for a sidelink in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure is shown. The communication manager 1305 can be an example of aspects of the communication manager 1115, the communication manager 1215, or the communication manager 1410 described herein. The communication manager 1305 can include a downlink component 1310, an uplink component 1315, a scheduling component 1320, a periodic signal component 1325, a resource component 1330, a priority component 1335, a timing component 1340, and a sidelink component 1345. Each of these modules can communicate with each other directly or indirectly (e.g., via one or more buses).
[0228] In some examples, the communication manager 1305 can be configured to implement aspects of the first solution described herein. For example, the downlink component 1310 can receive an indication of a first set of resources within an uplink control channel from a base station, the first set of resources being reserved for providing feedback for downlink communications to the UE. The downlink component 1310 can also receive an indication of a second set of resources within an uplink control channel from the base station, the second set of resources being reserved for providing feedback for sidelink communications between the UE and a second UE. And the uplink component 1315 can send at least one of feedback for downlink communications in the first set of resources of the uplink control channel or feedback for sidelink communications in the second set of resources of the uplink control channel to the base station.
[0229] In some examples, scheduling component 1320 can determine that the first set of resources and the second set of resources do not overlap in the time domain. In such a case, uplink component 1315 can send feedback for downlink communication in the first set of resources and send feedback for sidelink communication in the second set of resources.
[0230] In some examples, the periodic signal component 1325 can determine that the periodic signal is scheduled for transmission in the second set of resources. In such a case, the uplink component 1315 can avoid sending the periodic signal in the second set of resources. In some examples, the periodic signal component 1325 can determine that feedback for sidelink communication is scheduled for transmission in the second set of resources. In such a case, the uplink component 1315 can avoid sending the periodic signal based on determining that feedback for sidelink communication is scheduled.
[0231] In some examples, the scheduling component 1320 can determine that the first set of resources and the second set of resources overlap in the time domain. In such a case, the uplink component 1315 can avoid sending feedback for downlink communication in the first set of resources, or avoid sending feedback for sidelink communication in the second set of resources.
[0232] In some examples, scheduling component 1320 can determine that feedback for downlink communication is scheduled for transmission in the first set of resources and feedback for sidelink communication is scheduled for transmission in the second set of resources. In such a case, scheduling component 1320 can mark the scheduling of feedback for downlink communication or the scheduling of feedback for sidelink communication as an error based on determining that feedback for downlink communication is scheduled for transmission in the first set of resources and feedback for sidelink communication is scheduled for transmission in the second set of resources.
[0233] In some examples, resource component 1330 may receive an indication that the second set of resources includes a first subset of resources and a second subset of resources, determine that the first subset of resources is associated with sidelink communication between the UE and the second UE, and determine that the second subset of resources is associated with sidelink communication between the UE and a third UE. In such a case, uplink component 1315 may send feedback for sidelink communication between the UE and the second UE in the first subset of resources and send feedback for sidelink communication between the UE and the third UE in the second subset of resources.
[0234] In some examples, resource component 1330 can receive an indication that the second set of resources includes a first subset of resources and a second subset of resources, determine that the first subset of resources is associated with a first broadcast type, and determine that the second subset of resources is associated with a second broadcast type. In such a case, uplink component 1315 can send feedback for sidelink communications of the first broadcast type in the first subset of resources and send feedback for sidelink communications of the second broadcast type in the second subset of resources.
[0235] In some examples, the communication manager 1305 can be configured to implement aspects of the second solution described herein. For example, the downlink component 1310 can receive an indication of a resource set within an uplink control channel from a base station, and the resource set is reserved for providing feedback for communications to the UE. The scheduling component 1320 can determine a first priority for feedback on downlink communications and a second priority for feedback on sidelink communications. And the uplink component 1315 can send feedback on downlink communications to the base station in the resource set or send feedback on sidelink communications to the base station in the resource set based on the first priority and the second priority.
[0236] In some examples, the priority component 1335 can determine that the first priority is a higher priority or a lower priority relative to the second priority. In such a case, the uplink component 1315 can send feedback for downlink communication when the first priority is a higher priority than the second priority, and send feedback for the sidelink communication when the first priority is a lower priority than the second priority. The uplink component 1315 can also avoid sending feedback for sidelink communication when the first priority is a higher priority than the second priority, and avoid sending feedback for downlink communication when the first priority is a lower priority than the second priority.
[0237] In some examples, the priority component 1335 can determine that the first priority and the second priority are the same. In such a case, the uplink component 1315 can avoid sending feedback for downlink communications or feedback for sidelink communications based on the configuration of the UE.
[0238] In some examples, downlink component 1310 can receive a DCI message scheduling downlink communication or sidelink communication from a base station. In such an example, priority component 1335 can determine the first priority or the second priority based on the bits included in the DCI message, the size of the DCI message, or the format of the DCI message.
[0239] In some examples, the priority component 1335 can determine a first broadcast type for downlink communications and a second broadcast type for sidelink communications, and determine a first priority or a second priority based on the first broadcast type or the second broadcast type.
[0240] In some examples, priority component 1335 can determine a priority of a logical channel associated with the sidelink communication and determine a second priority based on the priority of the logical channel.
[0241] In some examples, the priority component 1335 can determine a configuration of a set of sidelink resources for transmitting sidelink communications and determine a second priority based on the configuration of the set of sidelink resources.
[0242] In some examples, the priority component 1335 can identify a control region of an uplink control channel, a downlink control channel, or a sidelink control channel and determine a first priority or a second priority based on the control region.
[0243] In some examples, the priority component 1335 can identify a search space within a downlink control channel or a sidelink control channel and determine a first priority or a second priority based on the search space.
[0244] In some examples, the priority component 1335 can identify a first codebook for feedback for downlink communications and a second codebook for feedback for sidelink communications, and determine a first priority or a second priority based on the first codebook and the second codebook.
[0245] In some examples, the communication manager 1305 can be configured to implement aspects of the third solution described herein. For example, the scheduling component 1320 can perform the following operations: determine that feedback for downlink communication is scheduled in a first uplink control channel resource set; determine that feedback for sidelink communication is scheduled in a second uplink control channel resource set that overlaps at least partially in time with the first uplink control channel resource set, and determine that the timing condition is met based on the first uplink control channel resource set or the second uplink control channel resource set. In addition, the uplink component 1315 can multiplex feedback for downlink communication and feedback for sidelink communication based on determining that the timing condition is met.
[0246] In some examples, uplink component 1315 can send multiplexed feedback in a portion (or all) of the resources of the first uplink control channel resource set and / or the second uplink control channel resource set. In some examples, timing component 1340 can determine that the second timing condition is met based on the first or second uplink control channel resource set. In such a case, uplink component 1315 can multiplex feedback based on determining that the second timing condition is met. In some examples, the timing condition can be based on the processing time of the UE for sidelink communication. In such a case, the second timing condition can be based on the processing time of the UE for downlink communication and the preparation time of the UE for uplink communication.
[0247] In some examples, sidelink component 1345 can receive an indication of feedback for sidelink communication in a sidelink control channel. In such a case, timing component 1340 can determine a time gap between a last symbol of the sidelink control channel and a first symbol of a first set of uplink control channel resources or a second set of uplink control channel resources (whichever occurs earlier). In some cases, scheduling component 1320 can determine that a timing condition is satisfied by determining that the time gap is greater than a threshold duration.
[0248] In some examples, downlink component 1310 can receive from a base station an indication of a set of resources reserved for uplink transmissions from a UE. In some examples, priority component 1335 can determine a first priority for information related to downlink communications and a second priority for information related to sidelink communications. In some examples, uplink component 1315 can send information related to downlink communications in a set of resources or information related to sidelink communications to a base station in a set of resources based at least in part on the first priority and the second priority.
[0249] In some examples, downlink component 1310 can receive a DCI message scheduling downlink communication or sidelink communication from a base station. In some examples, priority component 1335 can determine the first priority or the second priority based at least in part on the bits included in the DCI message, the size of the DCI message, or the format of the DCI message.
[0250] In some examples, scheduling component 1320 can determine a first broadcast type for downlink communications and a second broadcast type for sidelink communications. In some examples, priority component 1335 can determine a first priority or a second priority based at least in part on the first broadcast type or the second broadcast type.
[0251] In some examples, priority component 1335 can determine a priority of a logical channel associated with the sidelink communication. In some examples, priority component 1335 can determine a second priority based at least in part on the priority of the logical channel.
[0252] In some examples, resource component 1330 can determine a configuration of a set of sidelink resources for transmitting sidelink communications. In some examples, priority component 1335 can determine a second priority based at least in part on the configuration of the set of sidelink resources.
[0253] In some examples, the resource set is within an uplink control channel. In some examples, resource component 1330 can identify a control region of an uplink control channel, a downlink control channel, or a sidelink control channel. In some examples, priority component 1335 can determine a first priority or a second priority based at least in part on the control region.
[0254] In some examples, resource component 1330 can identify a search space within a downlink control channel or a sidelink control channel. In some examples, priority component 1335 can determine a first priority or a second priority based at least in part on the search space.
[0255] In some examples, the scheduling component 1320 can identify a first codebook for information related to downlink communications and a second codebook for information related to sidelink communications. In some examples, the priority component 1335 can determine the first priority or the second priority based at least in part on the first codebook and the second codebook.
[0256] In some examples, priority component 1335 can determine that the first priority is a higher priority or a lower priority relative to the second priority. In some examples, uplink component 1315 can send information related to downlink communications when the first priority is a higher priority than the second priority, and send information related to sidelink communications when the first priority is a lower priority than the second priority. In some examples, uplink component 1315 can avoid sending information related to sidelink communications when the first priority is a higher priority than the second priority, and avoid sending information related to downlink communications when the first priority is a lower priority than the second priority.
[0257] In some examples, priority component 1335 can determine that the first priority and the second priority are the same. In some examples, uplink component 1315 can avoid sending information related to downlink communications or information related to sidelink communications based at least in part on the configuration of the UE.

The transmitter 1635 can utilize a single antenna or a collection of antennas.
[0283] Fig.17Block diagram 1700 of a communication manager 1705 supporting feedback reporting for a sidelink in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure is shown. The communication manager 1705 can be an example of aspects of the communication manager 1515, the communication manager 1615, or the communication manager 1810 described herein. The communication manager 1705 can include a downlink component 1710, an uplink component 1715, a scheduling component 1720, a priority component 1725, an association component 1730, and a timing component 1735. Each of these modules can communicate with each other directly or indirectly (e.g., via one or more buses).
[0284] In some examples, the communication manager 1705 can be configured to implement aspects of the first solution described herein. For example, the downlink component 1710 can send an indication of a first set of resources within an uplink control channel to the UE, the first set of resources being reserved for providing feedback for downlink communications to the UE. The downlink component 1710 can also send an indication of a second set of resources within an uplink control channel to the UE, the second set of resources being reserved for providing feedback for sidelink communications between the UE and a second UE. And the uplink component 1715 can receive at least one of feedback for downlink communications in the first set of resources of the uplink control channel or feedback for sidelink communications in the second set of resources of the uplink control channel.
[0285] In some examples, scheduling component 1720 can determine that the first set of resources and the second set of resources do not overlap in the time domain. In such a case, uplink component 1715 can receive feedback for downlink communications in the first set of resources and receive feedback for sidelink communications in the second set of resources.
[0286] In some examples, scheduling component 1720 can determine that the first set of resources and the second set of resources overlap in the time domain. In such a case, uplink component 1715 can only receive feedback for downlink communications, or only receive feedback for sidelink communications.
[0287] In some examples, downlink component 1710 may send an indication that the second set of resources includes a first subset of resources and a second subset of resources. In such a case, downlink component 1710 may also send an indication that the first subset of resources is associated with sidelink communication between the UE and the second UE, and send an indication that the second subset of resources is associated with sidelink communication between the UE and a third UE.
[0288] In some examples, uplink component 1715 may receive feedback for sidelink communications between the UE and a second UE in a first subset of resources and receive feedback for sidelink communications between the UE and a third UE in a second subset of resources.
[0289] In some examples, downlink component 1710 can send an indication that the first subset of resources is associated with a first broadcast type and send an indication that the second subset of resources is associated with a second broadcast type. In such a case, uplink component 1715 can receive feedback for sidelink communications of the first broadcast type in the first subset of resources and receive feedback for sidelink communications of the second broadcast type in the second subset of resources.
[0290] In some examples, the communication manager 1705 can be configured to implement various aspects of the second solution described herein. For example, the downlink component 1710 can send an indication of a resource set within an uplink control channel to the UE, and the resource set is reserved for providing feedback for communications to the UE. The downlink component 1710 can send an indication of a first priority for feedback for downlink communications to the UE. And the downlink component 1710 can send an indication of a second priority for feedback for sidelink communications between the UE and the second UE. The uplink component 1715 can receive feedback for downlink communications or feedback for sidelink communications in the resource set based on indicating the first priority and the second priority.
[0291] In some examples, the priority component 1725 can determine that the first priority is a higher priority or a lower priority relative to the second priority. In such a case, the uplink component 1715 can receive feedback for downlink communications when the first priority is a higher priority than the second priority, and receive feedback for sidelink communications when the first priority is a lower priority than the second priority.
[0292] In some examples, downlink component 1710 can send an indication of the first or second priority by sending a DCI message scheduling downlink communication or sidelink communication to the UE. In such a case, a bit included in the DCI message, the size of the DCI message, or the format of the DCI message can indicate the first or second priority.
[0293] In some examples, associating component 1730 can associate the first priority with a first broadcast type for downlink communications. In such a case, the indication of the first priority can be or include an indication of the association of the first priority with the first broadcast type. Associating component 1730 can also associate the second priority with a second broadcast type for sidelink communications. In such a case, the indication of the second priority can be or include an indication of the association of the second priority with the second broadcast type.
[0294] In some examples, associating component 1730 can associate the second priority with a configuration of a set of sidelink resources for transmitting sidelink communications. In such a case, the indication of the second priority can be or include an indication of the configuration.
[0295] In some examples, associating component 1730 can associate the first or second priority with a control region of an uplink control channel, a downlink control channel, or a sidelink control channel. In such a case, the indication of the first or second priority can be or include an indication of the association of the first or second priority with the control region.
[0296] In some examples, associating component 1730 can associate the first priority or the second priority with a search space of the control channel. In such a case, the indication of the first or second priority can be or include an indication of the association of the first or second priority with the search space.
[0297] In some examples, the associating component 1730 may associate the first priority with the first codebook. In such a case, the indication of the first priority may be or include an indication of the association of the first priority with the first codebook. The associating component 1730 may also associate the second priority with the second codebook. In such a case, the indication of the second priority may be or include an indication of the association of the second priority with the second codebook.
[0298] In some examples, the communication manager 1705 can be configured to implement aspects of the third solution described herein. For example, the scheduling component 1720 can schedule the UE to send feedback for downlink communication in the first uplink control channel resource set. The scheduling component 1720 can also schedule the UE to send feedback for sidelink communication in the second uplink control channel resource set. The uplink component 1715 can receive multiplexed feedback for downlink communication and sidelink communication in the first uplink control channel resource set, the second uplink control channel resource set, or a combination thereof based on meeting the timing condition.
[0299] In some examples, scheduling component 1720 can determine that the timing condition is met based on the first set of uplink control channel resources or the second set of uplink control channel resources.
[0300] In some examples, the timing component 1735 can determine that a second timing condition is satisfied based on the first uplink control channel resource set or the second uplink control channel resource set, wherein the multiplexed feedback is received based on determining that the second timing condition is satisfied. In such a case, the timing condition is based on the processing time of the UE for sidelink communication. And the second timing condition can be based on the processing time of the UE for downlink communication and the preparation time of the UE for uplink communication.
[0301] In some examples, timing component 1735 can determine a last symbol of a sidelink control channel reserved for providing feedback for sidelink communications and determine a time gap between the last symbol of the sidelink control channel and a first symbol of a first set of uplink control channel resources or a second set of uplink control channel resources (whichever occurs earlier). In such a case, timing component 1735 can determine that the timing condition is satisfied based on the time gap being greater than a threshold duration.

An apparatus for wireless communication at a first user equipment (UE), comprising at least one processor, wherein the at least one processor is configured to cause the first UE to: receiving, from a network entity, an indication of a set of resources within an uplink control channel, the set of resources reserved for providing feedback for communications to the first UE; Determining a first priority for feedback on downlink communications and a second priority for feedback on sidelink communications from a second UE, wherein the first priority or the second priority is determined at least in part based on a priority indicated by a downlink control information (DCI) message from the network entity that schedules the downlink communications or the sidelink communications; as well as Feedback for downlink communications in the set of resources is sent to the network entity or feedback for sidelink communications in the set of resources is sent to the network entity based at least in part on the first priority and the second priority.
24. The apparatus of claim 23, wherein the at least one processor is further configured to cause the first UE to: receiving the DCI message from the network entity; and The first priority or the second priority is determined based at least in part on bits included in the DCI message, a size of the DCI message, or a format of the DCI message.
25. The apparatus of claim 23, wherein the at least one processor is further configured to: determining a first broadcast type for the downlink communication and a second broadcast type for the sidelink communication; and The first priority or the second priority is determined based at least in part on the first cast type or the second cast type.
26. The apparatus of claim 23, wherein the at least one processor is further configured to: determining a priority of a logical channel associated with the sidelink communication; and The second priority is determined based at least in part on the priority of the logical channel.
27. An apparatus for wireless communication at a first user equipment (UE), comprising at least one processor, wherein the at least one processor is configured to cause the first UE to: receiving, from a network entity, an indication of a set of resources reserved for uplink transmissions from the first UE; determining a first priority of information related to downlink communications based at least in part on a priority indicated by a first downlink control information (DCI) message scheduling downlink communications and determining a second priority of information related to the sidelink communications based at least in part on a priority indicated by a second DCI message scheduling sidelink communications from a second UE; as well as Information related to downlink communications in the set of resources or information related to sidelink communications in the set of resources is sent to the network entity based at least in part on the first priority and the second priority.
28. The apparatus of claim 27, wherein the at least one processor is further configured to cause the first UE to: receiving the first DCI message and the second DCI message from the network entity; determining the first priority based at least in part on bits included in the first DCI message, a size of the first DCI message, or a format of the first DCI message; as well as The second priority is determined based at least in part on bits included in the second DCI message, a size of the second DCI message, or a format of the second DCI message.
29. The apparatus of claim 27, wherein the at least one processor is further configured to: determining a first broadcast type for the downlink communication and a second broadcast type for the sidelink communication; and The first priority or the second priority is determined based at least in part on the first cast type or the second cast type.
30. The apparatus of claim 27, wherein the at least one processor is further configured to: determining a priority of a logical channel associated with the sidelink communication; and The second priority is determined based at least in part on the priority of the logical channel.
