Description
[0001] CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS
[0002] This application claims the benefit of international patent application entitled “Methods and Apparatus to Facilitate CSI Feedback in Multi-TRP Communication” filed on February 14, 2020 and serial number PCT / CN2020 / 075251, the entire contents of which are expressly incorporated herein by reference. Technical Field
[0003] Generally speaking, the present disclosure relates to communication systems, and more particularly, to wireless communication systems including multiple transmit receive points (TRPs). Background Art
[0004] Wireless communication systems are widely deployed to provide a variety of telecommunication services, such as telephony, video, data, messaging, and broadcast. Typical wireless communication systems may employ multiple access technologies capable of supporting communication with multiple users by sharing available system resources. Examples of such multiple access technologies include code division multiple access (CDMA) systems, time division multiple access (TDMA) systems, frequency division multiple access (FDMA) systems, orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) systems, single carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA) systems, and time division synchronous code division multiple access (TD-SCDMA) systems.
[0005] These multiple access technologies have been adopted in various telecommunication standards to provide a common protocol that enables different wireless devices to communicate at the level of cities, countries, regions, and even the world. An example telecommunication standard is 5G New Radio (NR). 5G NR is part of the continuous mobile broadband evolution released by the Third Generation Partnership (3GPP) to meet new requirements associated with latency, reliability, security, scalability (e.g., together with the Internet of Things (IoT)) and other requirements. 5G NR includes services associated with enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), massive machine type communication (mMTC), and ultra-reliable low latency communication (URLLC). Some aspects of 5G NR may be based on the 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) standard. There is a need for further improvements to 5GNR technology. These improvements may also be applicable to other multiple access technologies and telecommunication standards that employ these technologies. Summary of the invention
[0006] A brief summary of one or more aspects is given below to provide a basic understanding of such aspects. This summary is not an extensive overview of all contemplated aspects, and is neither intended to identify key or important elements of all aspects, nor to delineate the scope of any or all aspects. Its sole purpose is to present some concepts of one or more aspects in a simplified form as a prelude to a more detailed description that will be presented later.
[0007] A channel state feedback process may include: a first device (e.g., a user equipment (UE)) receiving a channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) from a second device (e.g., a base station); generating (or measuring) CSI information based on, for example, the CSI-RS; and sending a CSI report including the CSI information to the second device. Execution of the channel state feedback process may facilitate channel estimation at the first device. The CSI information generated by the first device may include one or more components, such as a CSI-RS resource indicator (CRI), a rank indicator (RI), a channel quality indicator (CQI), a precoding matrix indicator (PMI), a layer indicator (LI), etc. In some examples, the second device (e.g., a base station) may send a message to the first device (e.g., a UE) based on the CSI information included in the CSI report.
[0008] In some examples, a wireless network can support connections for a large number of UEs. Such a wireless network may include multiple transmit receive points (TRPs) to improve reliability, coverage, and / or capacity. In a multi-TRP communication system, a base station and a UE can communicate with each other by sending messages using one or more of the TRPs. For example, a base station can be connected to multiple geographically distributed TRPs, which can then send messages to one or more UEs individually or jointly and / or can receive messages from one or more UEs individually or jointly. For example, a base station can be connected to a first TRP and a second TRP, and both the first TRP and the second TRP can be connected to the UE. In some such examples, the base station and the UE can communicate (e.g., send and / or receive messages) via a first TRP, can communicate via a second TRP, or can communicate via a first TRP and a second TRP.
[0009] In an example where the base station and the UE are operating in a multi-TRP communication mode, when performing the channel state feedback process, the UE can generate CSI information for each TRP in the TRP. Therefore, it can be understood that as the number of TRPs increases, the size of the CSI report may also increase.
[0010] The example techniques disclosed herein enable a base station and a UE operating in a multi-TRP communication mode to improve the performance of a channel state feedback process by adopting a CSI report configuration that configures the information included in the CSI report. In some examples, the base station may send a CSI report configuration to the UE to trigger the UE to perform a channel state feedback process. In some examples, the CSI report configuration may indicate to the UE what information to include in the CSI report. For example, the CSI report configuration may indicate to the UE to include a number of LI values. In an additional or alternative example, the CSI report configuration may configure the UE to include an identifier of the strongest TRP.
[0011] In one aspect of the present disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus for wireless communication of a UE are provided. The apparatus may receive a report configuration message triggering a channel state feedback process from a base station, the report configuration message requesting multiple TRP transmission values including at least one of a number of layer indicator (LI) values and a strongest TRP indicator (STI) value. In some examples, the UE and the base station may operate in a multi-transmit reception point (multi-TRP) communication mode. The apparatus may also generate channel state information (CSI) information based on the reception of the report configuration message. In some examples, the CSI information may include multiple TRP transmission values. The apparatus may also send a report including the generated CSI information to the base station.
[0012] In another aspect of the present disclosure, a method, computer-readable medium, and apparatus for wireless communication of a base station are provided. The apparatus may send a report configuration message to a user equipment (UE) that triggers a channel state feedback process, the report configuration message requesting multiple TRP transmission values including at least one of a number of layer indicator (LI) values and a strongest TRP indicator (STI) value. In some examples, the UE and the base station may operate in a multiple transmit receive point (multi-TRP) communication mode. The apparatus may also receive a report from the UE that includes at least multiple TRP transmission values.

[0029] The specific embodiments described below in conjunction with the accompanying drawings are intended to be descriptions of various configurations, and are not intended to represent the only configurations with which the concepts described herein can be practiced. For the purpose of providing a comprehensive understanding of each concept, the specific embodiments include specific details. However, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that these concepts can be practiced without these specific details. In some instances, well-known structures and components are shown in the form of block diagrams to avoid obscuring such concepts.
[0030] Several aspects of telecommunication systems will now be presented with reference to various devices and methods. These devices and methods will be described in the following detailed description by various blocks, components, circuits, processes, algorithms, etc. (collectively referred to as "elements") and illustrated in the accompanying drawings. These elements can be implemented using electronic hardware, computer software, or any combination thereof. Whether such elements are implemented as hardware or software depends on the specific application and the design constraints imposed on the overall system.
[0031] By way of example, an element, or any part of an element, or any combination of elements, may be implemented as a "processing system" including one or more processors. Examples of processors include microprocessors, microcontrollers, graphics processing units (GPUs), central processing units (CPUs), application processors, digital signal processors (DSPs), reduced instruction set computing (RISC) processors, systems on chip (SoCs), baseband processors, field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), programmable logic devices (PLDs), state machines, gating logic, discrete hardware circuits, and other suitable hardware configured to perform various functions described throughout the present disclosure. One or more processors in a processing system may execute software. Whether referred to as software, firmware, middleware, microcode, hardware description language, or other names, software should be broadly interpreted as meaning instructions, instruction sets, codes, code segments, program codes, programs, subroutines, software components, applications, software applications, software packages, routines, subroutines, objects, executable files, threads of execution, processes, functions, etc.
[0032] Accordingly, in one or more example aspects, the described functions can be implemented in hardware, software, or any combination thereof. If implemented in software, the functions can be stored or encoded on a computer-readable medium as one or more instructions or codes. Computer-readable media include computer storage media. Storage media can be any available media that can be accessed by a computer. By way of example and not limitation, such computer-readable media may include random access memory (RAM), read-only memory (ROM), electrically erasable programmable ROM (EEPROM), optical disk storage, magnetic disk storage, other magnetic storage devices, a combination of computer-readable media of the above types, or any other medium that can be used to store computer executable code in the form of instructions or data structures that can be accessed by a computer.
[0033] Figure 1 1 is a diagram showing an example of a wireless communication system and access network 100. The wireless communication system (also referred to as a wireless wide area network (WWAN)) includes a base station 102, a UE 104, an evolved packet core (EPC) 160, and another core network 190 (e.g., a 5G core (5GC)). The base station 102 may include a macro cell (a high-power cellular base station) and / or a small cell (a low-power cellular base station). A macro cell includes a base station. A small cell includes a femto cell, a pico cell, and a micro cell.
[0034] The base station 102 configured for 4G LTE (collectively referred to as the Evolved Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) Terrestrial Radio Access Network (E-UTRAN)) can interface with the EPC 160 via a first backhaul link 132 (e.g., an S1 interface). The base station 102 configured for 5G NR (collectively referred to as the Next Generation RAN (NG-RAN)) can interface with the core network 190 via a second backhaul link 184. Among other functions, the base station 102 can also perform one or more of the following functions: transmission of user data, radio channel encryption and decryption, integrity protection, header compression, mobility control functions (e.g., handover, dual connectivity), inter-cell interference coordination, connection establishment and release, load balancing, distribution of non-access stratum (NAS) messages, NAS node selection, synchronization, radio access network (RAN) sharing, multimedia broadcast multicast service (MBMS), user and device tracking, RAN information management (RIM), paging, positioning, and delivery of warning messages. The base stations 102 may communicate with each other directly or indirectly (eg, via the EPC 160 or the core network 190) via a third backhaul link 134 (eg, an X2 interface). The first backhaul link 132, the second backhaul link 184, and the third backhaul link 134 may be wired or wireless.
[0035] Base station 102 can communicate wirelessly with UE 104. Each of base stations 102 can provide communication coverage for a corresponding geographic coverage area 110. There can be overlapping geographic coverage areas 110. For example, a small cell 102' can have a coverage area 110' that overlaps with the coverage area 110 of one or more macro base stations 102. A network including both small cells and macro cells can be referred to as a heterogeneous network. A heterogeneous network can also include a home evolved Node B (eNB) (HeNB), which can provide services to a restricted group called a closed subscriber group (CSG). The communication link 120 between base station 102 and UE 104 can include an uplink (UL) (also referred to as a reverse link) transmission from UE 104 to base station 102 and / or a downlink (DL) (also referred to as a forward link) transmission from base station 102 to UE 104. The communication link 120 can use multiple input multiple output (MIMO) antenna technology, including spatial multiplexing, beamforming and / or transmit diversity. The communication link can be through one or more carriers. Base station 102 / UE 104 may use spectrum of up to Y MHz (e.g., 5, 10, 15, 20, 100, 400, etc. MHz) bandwidth per carrier allocated in carrier aggregation for a total of up to Yx MHz (x component carriers) for transmission in each direction. The carriers may be adjacent to each other or may not be adjacent to each other. The allocation of carriers may be asymmetric with respect to DL and UL (e.g., more or fewer carriers may be allocated for DL compared to UL). The component carrier may include a primary component carrier and one or more secondary component carriers. The primary component carrier may be referred to as a primary cell (PCell), and the secondary component carrier may be referred to as a secondary cell (SCell).
[0036] Some UEs 104 may communicate with each other using a device-to-device (D2D) communication link 158. The D2D communication link 158 may use DL / UL WWAN spectrum. The D2D communication link 158 may use one or more sidelink channels, such as a physical sidelink broadcast channel (PSBCH), a physical sidelink discovery channel (PSDCH), a physical sidelink shared channel (PSSCH), and a physical sidelink control channel (PSCCH). The D2D communication may be through a variety of wireless D2D communication systems, such as WiMedia, Bluetooth, ZigBee, Wi-Fi based on the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11 standard, LTE, or NR.
[0037] The wireless communication system may also include a Wi-Fi access point (AP) 150 that communicates with a Wi-Fi station (STA) 152 via a communication link 154 in, for example, a 5 GHz unlicensed spectrum. When communicating in the unlicensed spectrum, the STA 152 / AP 150 may perform a clear channel assessment (CCA) prior to communication to determine whether the channel is available.
[0038] The small cell 102' may operate in licensed and / or unlicensed spectrum. When operating in unlicensed spectrum, the small cell 102' may employ NR and use the same unlicensed spectrum (e.g., 5 GHz, etc.) as used by the Wi-Fi AP 150. The small cell 102' employing NR in the unlicensed spectrum may improve coverage and / or increase capacity of the access network.
[0039] The electromagnetic spectrum is typically subdivided into various categories, bands, channels, etc. based on frequency / wavelength. In 5G NR, two initial operating bands have been identified with the frequency range names FR1 (410 MHz-7.125 GHz) and FR2 (24.25 GHz-52.6 GHz). Frequencies between FR1 and FR2 are typically referred to as mid-band frequencies. Although a portion of FR1 is greater than 6 GHz, FR1 is typically (interchangeably) referred to as the "sub-6 GHz" band in various documents and articles. Similar naming issues sometimes arise with respect to FR2, which is typically (interchangeably) referred to as the "millimeter wave" band in documents and articles, although it is different from the extremely high frequency (EHF) band (30 GHz-300 GHz) identified as the "millimeter wave" band by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
[0040] In view of the above, unless otherwise specified, if the term "sub-6 GHz" or the like is used in this document, it may broadly refer to frequencies that may be less than 6 GHz, may be within FR1, or may include mid-band frequencies. In addition, unless otherwise specified, if the term "millimeter wave" or the like is used in this document, it may broadly refer to frequencies that may include mid-band frequencies, may be within FR2, or may be within the EHF band.
[0041] The base station 102, whether a small cell 102' or a large cell (e.g., a macro base station), may include and / or be referred to as an eNB, a gNodeB (gNB), or another type of base station. Some base stations, such as gNB 180, may operate in traditional sub-6 GHz spectrum, in millimeter wave frequencies, and / or near millimeter wave frequencies to communicate with UE 104. When the gNB 180 operates in millimeter wave or near millimeter wave frequencies, the gNB 180 may be referred to as a millimeter wave base station. The millimeter wave base station 180 may utilize beamforming 182 with the UE 104 to compensate for path loss and short distance. Both the base station 180 and the UE 104 may include multiple antennas, such as antenna elements, antenna panels, and / or antenna arrays to facilitate beamforming.
[0042] The base station 180 may transmit a beamformed signal in one or more transmit directions 182' to the UE 104. The UE 104 may receive a beamformed signal from the base station 180 in one or more receive directions 182". The UE 104 may also transmit a beamformed signal in one or more transmit directions to the base station 180. The base station 180 may receive a beamformed signal in one or more receive directions from the UE 104. The base station 180 / UE 104 may perform beam training to determine the best receive direction and transmit direction for each of the base station 180 / UE 104. The transmit direction and receive direction for the base station 180 may be the same or may be different. The transmit direction and receive direction for the UE 104 may be the same or may be different.
[0043] The EPC 160 may include a mobility management entity (MME) 162, other MMEs 164, a serving gateway 166, a multimedia broadcast multicast service (MBMS) gateway 168, a broadcast multicast service center (BM-SC) 170, and a packet data network (PDN) gateway 172. The MME 162 may communicate with a home subscriber server (HSS) 174. The MME 162 is a control node that handles signaling between the UE 104 and the EPC 160. Typically, the MME 162 provides bearer and connection management. All user Internet Protocol (IP) packets are transmitted through the serving gateway 166, which itself is connected to the PDN gateway 172. The PDN gateway 172 provides IP address allocation and other functions. The PDN gateway 172 and the BM-SC 170 are connected to IP services 176. The IP services 176 may include the Internet, an intranet, an IP multimedia subsystem (IMS), a PS streaming service, and / or other IP services. The BM-SC 170 may provide functionality for MBMS user service provision and delivery. The BM-SC 170 may serve as an entry point for content provider MBMS transmissions, may be used to authorize and initiate MBMS bearer services within a public land mobile network (PLMN), and may be used to schedule MBMS transmissions. The MBMS gateway 168 may be used to distribute MBMS services to base stations 102 belonging to a multicast broadcast single frequency network (MBSFN) area broadcasting a particular service, and may be responsible for session management (start / stop) and collecting eMBMS-related charging information.
[0044] The core network 190 may include an access and mobility management function (AMF) 192, other AMFs 193, a session management function (SMF) 194, and a user plane function (UPF) 195. The AMF 192 may communicate with a unified data management (UDM) 196. The AMF 192 is a control node that handles signaling between the UE 104 and the core network 190. Typically, the AMF 192 provides QoS flow and session management. All user Internet Protocol (IP) packets are transmitted through the UPF 195. The UPF 195 provides UE IP address allocation and other functions. The UPF 195 is connected to an IP service 197. The IP service 197 may include the Internet, an intranet, an IP multimedia subsystem (IMS), a packet switching (PS) stream (PSS) service, and / or other IP services.
[0045] A base station may include and / or be referred to as a gNB, a Node B, an eNB, an access point, a base transceiver station, a radio base station, a radio transceiver, a transceiver function, a basic service set (BSS), an extended service set (ESS), a transmit receive point (TRP), or some other appropriate term. The base station 102 provides an access point to the EPC 160 or the core network 190 for the UE 104. Examples of UE 104 include a cellular phone, a smart phone, a session initiation protocol (SIP) phone, a laptop, a personal digital assistant (PDA), a satellite radio unit, a global positioning system, a multimedia device, a video device, a digital audio player (e.g., an MP3 player), a camera, a game console, a tablet device, a smart device, a wearable device, a vehicle, an electric meter, a gas pump, a large or small kitchen appliance, a healthcare device, an implant, a sensor / actuator, a display, or any other similarly functional device. Some of the UEs 104 may be referred to as IoT devices (e.g., a parking meter, a gas pump, an oven, a vehicle, a heart monitor, etc.). UE 104 may also be referred to as a station, a mobile station, a user station, a mobile unit, a user unit, a wireless unit, a remote unit, a mobile device, a wireless device, a wireless communication device, a remote device, a mobile user station, an access terminal, a mobile terminal, a wireless terminal, a remote terminal, a handheld device, a user agent, a mobile client, a client, or some other suitable terminology.
[0046] Reference again Figure 1 In certain aspects, UE 104 may be configured to manage one or more aspects of wireless communication via CSI reporting configuration when operating in a multi-TRP communication mode. For example, Figure 1 The UE 104 includes a UE CSI report configuration component 198, which is configured to receive a report configuration message triggering a channel state feedback process from a base station, the report configuration message requesting a multiple TRP transmission value including at least one of a number of layer indicator (LI) values and a strongest TRP indicator (STI) value. The UE CSI report configuration component 198 may also be configured to generate channel state information (CSI) information based on the reception of the report configuration message. In some examples, the CSI information may include multiple TRP transmission values. The UE CSI report configuration component 198 may also be configured to send a report including the generated CSI information to the base station.
[0047] Still reference Figure 1 In certain aspects, base station 180 may be configured to manage one or more aspects of wireless communication via CSI reporting configuration when operating in a multi-TRP communication mode. For example, Figure 1The base station 180 includes a base station CSI report configuration component 199, which is configured to send a report configuration message triggering a channel state feedback process to a user equipment (UE), the report configuration message requesting a multi-TRP transmission value including at least one of a number of layer indicator (LI) values and a strongest TRP indicator (STI) value. The base station CSI report configuration component 199 can also be configured to receive a report including at least the multi-TRP transmission value from the UE.
[0048] Although the following description provides examples related to 5G NR, the concepts described herein may be applicable to other similar areas, such as LTE, LTE-A, CDMA, GSM and / or other wireless / radio access technologies where the UE and base station are operating in a multi-TRP communication mode.
[0049] Figure 2A FIG200 is a diagram showing an example of a first subframe within a 5G NR frame structure. Figure 2B FIG230 is a diagram showing an example of DL channels within a 5G NR subframe. Figure 2C FIG250 is a diagram showing an example of a second subframe within a 5G NR frame structure. Figure 2D FIG280 is a diagram showing an example of UL channels within a 5G NR subframe. The 5G NR frame structure can be frequency division duplex (FDD) (wherein, for a particular set of subcarriers (carrier system bandwidth), a subframe within a subcarrier set is dedicated to either DL or UL), or can be time division duplex (TDD) (wherein, for a particular set of subcarriers (carrier system bandwidth), a subframe within a subcarrier set is dedicated to both DL and UL). Figure 2A , 2C In the example provided, the 5G NR frame structure is assumed to be TDD, where subframe 4 is configured with slot format 28 (most of which are DL), where D is DL, U is UL, and F is flexible between DL / UL, and subframe 3 is configured with slot format 1 (all of which are UL). Although subframes 3 and 4 are shown as having slot formats 1 and 28, respectively, any particular subframe can be configured with any of the various available slot formats 0-61. Slot formats 0 and 1 are full DL and full UL, respectively. Other slot formats 2-61 include a mix of DL, UL and flexible symbols. The UE is configured with a slot format (dynamically configured through DL control information (DCI) or semi-statically / statically configured through radio resource control (RRC) signaling) through the received slot format indicator (SFI). Note that the following description also applies to the 5G NR frame structure as TDD.
[0050] Other wireless communication technologies may have different frame structures and / or different channels. A frame (10ms) may be divided into 10 subframes (1ms) of equal size. Each subframe may include one or more time slots. A subframe may also include a microslot, which may include 7, 4 or 2 symbols. Each time slot may include 7 or 14 symbols, depending on the time slot configuration. For time slot configuration 0, each time slot may include 14 symbols, and for time slot configuration 1, each time slot may include 7 symbols. The symbol on the DL may be a cyclic prefix (CP) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) (CP-OFDM) symbol. The symbol on the UL may be a CP-OFDM symbol (for high throughput scenarios) or a discrete Fourier transform (DFT) spread OFDM (DFT-s-OFDM) symbol (also referred to as a single carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA) symbol) (for power-limited scenarios; limited to single stream transmission). The number of time slots in a subframe may be based on the time slot configuration and numerology. For slot configuration 0, different digital schemes μ0 to 4 allow 1, 2, 4, 8, and 16 slots per subframe, respectively. For slot configuration 1, different digital schemes 0 to 2 allow 2, 4, and 8 slots per subframe, respectively. Accordingly, for slot configuration 0 and digital scheme μ, there are 14 symbols / slot and 2 μ time slots / subframe. The subcarrier spacing and symbol length / duration are functions of the digital scheme. The subcarrier spacing can be equal to 2 μ *15kHz, where μ is digital scheme 0 to 4. Thus, digital scheme μ=0 has a subcarrier spacing of 15kHz, and digital scheme μ=4 has a subcarrier spacing of 240kHz. The symbol length / duration is inversely related to the subcarrier spacing. Figures 2A-2D An example is provided for slot configuration 0 (with 14 symbols per slot) and digital scheme μ=2 (with 4 slots per subframe). The slot duration is 0.25 ms, the subcarrier spacing is 60 kHz, and the symbol duration is approximately 16.67 μs. Within a frame set, there may be one or more different bandwidth parts (BWPs) that are frequency-division multiplexed (see Figure 2B ). Each BWP can have a specific numbering scheme.
[0051] The resource grid can be used to represent the frame structure. Each time slot includes a resource block (RB) (also called a physical RB (PRB)), which includes 12 consecutive subcarriers. The resource grid is divided into multiple resource elements (REs). The number of bits carried by each RE depends on the modulation scheme.
[0052] As in Figure 2AAs shown in , some of the REs carry reference (pilot) signals (RS) for the UE. The RS may include a demodulation RS (DM-RS) for channel estimation at the UE (indicated as R for a specific configuration, but other DM-RS configurations are possible) and a channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS). The RS may also include a beam measurement RS (BRS), a beam refinement RS (BRRS), and a phase tracking RS (PT-RS).
[0053] Figure 2B Examples of various DL channels within a subframe of a frame are shown. A physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) carries DCI within one or more control channel elements (CCEs) (e.g., 1, 2, 4, 8, or 16 CCEs), each CCE including six RE groups (REGs), each REG including 12 consecutive REs in one OFDM symbol of an RB. A PDCCH within a BWP may be referred to as a control resource set (CORESET). The UE is configured to monitor PDCCH candidates in a PDCCH search space (e.g., a common search space, a UE-specific search space) during a PDCCH monitoring opportunity on a CORESET, wherein the PDCCH candidates have different DCI formats and different aggregation levels. Additional BWPs may be located at larger and / or lower frequencies across the channel bandwidth. A primary synchronization signal (PSS) may be within symbol 2 of a particular subframe of a frame. The PSS is used by UE 104 to determine subframe / symbol timing and physical layer identification. A secondary synchronization signal (SSS) may be within symbol 4 of a particular subframe of a frame. The SSS is used by the UE to determine the physical layer cell identity group number and the radio frame timing. Based on the physical layer identity and the physical layer cell identity group number, the UE can determine the physical cell identifier (PCI). Based on the PCI, the UE can determine the position of the above-mentioned DM-RS. The physical broadcast channel (PBCH) carrying the master information block (MIB) can be logically grouped with the PSS and SSS to form a synchronization signal (SS) / PBCH block (also referred to as an SS block (SSB)). The MIB provides the number of RBs in the system bandwidth and the system frame number (SFN). The physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) carries user data, broadcast system information not sent via the PBCH (such as the system information block (SIB)), and paging messages.
[0054] As in Figure 2CAs shown in , some of the REs carry DM-RS for channel estimation at the base station (indicated as R for a specific configuration, but other DM-RS configurations are possible). The UE may send DM-RS for a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) and DM-RS for a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH). The PUSCH DM-RS may be sent in the first one or two symbols of the PUSCH. The PUCCH DM-RS may be sent in different configurations depending on whether a short PUCCH or a long PUCCH is sent and depending on the specific PUCCH format used. The UE may send a sounding reference signal (SRS). The SRS may be sent in the last symbol of the subframe. The SRS may have a comb structure, and the UE may send the SRS on one of the combs. The SRS may be used by the base station for channel quality estimation to enable frequency-dependent scheduling on the UL.
[0055] Figure 2D Examples of various UL channels within a subframe of a frame are shown. The PUCCH may be positioned as indicated in one configuration. The PUCCH carries uplink control information (UCI), such as scheduling requests, channel quality indicator (CQI), precoding matrix indicator (PMI), rank indicator (RI), and hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) acknowledgement (ACK) (HARQ-ACK) information (ACK / negative acknowledgement (NACK)) feedback. The PUSCH carries data and may additionally be used to carry a buffer status report (BSR), a power headroom report (PHR), and / or UCI.
[0056] Figure 33 is a block diagram of a base station 310 communicating with a UE 350 in an access network. In the DL, IP packets from the EPC 160 may be provided to the controller / processor 375. The controller / processor 375 implements layer 3 and layer 2 functions. Layer 3 includes a radio resource control (RRC) layer, and layer 2 includes a service data adaptation protocol (SDAP) layer, a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) layer, a radio link control (RLC) layer, and a medium access control (MAC) layer. The controller / processor 375 provides: RRC layer functions associated with the following: broadcasting of system information (e.g., MIB, SIB), RRC connection control (e.g., RRC connection paging, RRC connection establishment, RRC connection modification, and RRC connection release), inter-radio access technology (RAT) mobility, and measurement configuration for UE measurement reporting; PDCP layer functions associated with the following: header compression / decompression, security (encryption, decryption, integrity protection, integrity verification), and switching support functions; RLC layer functions associated with the following: transmission of upper layer packet data units (PDUs), error correction through ARQ, concatenation, segmentation and reassembly of RLC service data units (SDUs), re-segmentation of RLC data PDUs, and reordering of RLC data PDUs; and MAC layer functions associated with the following: mapping between logical channels and transport channels, multiplexing of MAC SDUs onto transport blocks (TBs), demultiplexing of MAC SDUs from TBs, scheduling information reporting, error correction through HARQ, priority handling, and logical channel priority sorting.
[0057] The transmit (TX) processor (e.g., TX processor 316) and receive (RX) processor (e.g., RX processor 370) implement layer 1 functions associated with various signal processing functions. Layer 1, including the physical (PHY) layer, may include error detection of transmission channels, forward error correction (FEC) encoding / decoding of transmission channels, interleaving, rate matching, mapping to physical channels, modulation / demodulation of physical channels, and MIMO antenna processing. The TX processor 316 processes the mapping to the signal constellation based on various modulation schemes (e.g., binary phase shift keying (BPSK), quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK), M-phase shift keying (M-PSK), M-order quadrature amplitude modulation (M-QAM)). The coded and modulated symbols may then be divided into parallel streams. Each stream may then be mapped to an OFDM subcarrier, multiplexed with a reference signal (e.g., pilot) in the time domain and / or frequency domain, and then combined together using an inverse fast Fourier transform (IFFT) to generate a physical channel carrying a time domain OFDM symbol stream. The OFDM stream is spatially precoded to generate multiple spatial streams. Channel estimates from a channel estimator 374 may be used to determine coding and modulation schemes and for spatial processing. Channel estimates may be derived based on reference signals and / or channel condition feedback sent by the UE 350. Each spatial stream may then be provided to a different antenna 320 via a separate transmitter 318TX. Each transmitter 318TX may modulate an RF carrier with a corresponding spatial stream for transmission.
[0058] At the UE 350, each receiver 354RX receives a signal through its corresponding antenna 352. Each receiver 354RX recovers the information modulated onto the RF carrier and provides the information to the RX processor 356. The TX processor 368 and the RX processor 356 implement layer 1 functions associated with various signal processing functions. The RX processor 356 can perform spatial processing on the information to recover any spatial stream destined for the UE 350. If multiple spatial streams are destined for the UE 350, they can be combined into a single OFDM symbol stream by the RX processor 356. The RX processor 356 then uses a fast Fourier transform (FFT) to convert the OFDM symbol stream from the time domain to the frequency domain. The frequency domain signal includes a separate OFDM symbol stream for each subcarrier of the OFDM signal. The symbol on each subcarrier and the reference signal are recovered and demodulated by determining the most likely signal constellation point sent by the base station 310. These soft decisions can be based on the channel estimate calculated by the channel estimator 358. The soft decisions are then decoded and deinterleaved to recover the data and control signals originally sent on the physical channel by base station 310. The data and control signals are then provided to controller / processor 359, which implements layer 3 and layer 2 functionality.
[0059] The controller / processor 359 may be associated with a memory 360 that stores program codes and data. The memory 360 may be referred to as a computer readable medium. In the UL, the controller / processor 359 provides demultiplexing, packet reassembly, decryption, header decompression, and control signal processing between transport channels and logical channels to recover IP packets from the EPC 160. The controller / processor 359 is also responsible for error detection using an ACK and / or NACK protocol to support HARQ operations.
[0060] Similar to the functions described in conjunction with DL transmissions performed by the base station 310, the controller / processor 359 provides: RRC layer functions associated with: system information (e.g., MIB, SIB) acquisition, RRC connection, and measurement reporting; PDCP layer functions associated with: header compression / decompression and security (encryption, decryption, integrity protection, integrity verification); RLC layer functions associated with: transmission of upper layer PDUs, error correction through ARQ, concatenation, segmentation and reassembly of RLC SDUs, resegmentation of RLC data PDUs, and reordering of RLC data PDUs; and MAC layer functions associated with: mapping between logical channels and transport channels, multiplexing of MAC SDUs onto TBs, demultiplexing of MAC SDUs from TBs, scheduling information reporting, error correction through HARQ, priority handling, and logical channel prioritization.
[0061] Channel estimates derived by the channel estimator 358 based on a reference signal or feedback sent by the base station 310 may be used by the TX processor 368 to select the appropriate coding and modulation schemes, and to facilitate spatial processing. The spatial streams generated by the TX processor 368 may be provided to different antennas 352 via separate transmitters 354TX. Each transmitter 354TX may modulate an RF carrier with a corresponding spatial stream for transmission.
[0062] UL transmissions are processed at the base station 310 in a manner similar to that described in conjunction with the receiver functionality at the UE 350. Each receiver 318RX receives a signal through its respective antenna 320. Each receiver 318RX recovers information modulated onto an RF carrier and provides the information to a RX processor 370.
[0063] The controller / processor 375 may be associated with a memory 376 that stores program codes and data. The memory 376 may be referred to as a computer readable medium. In the UL, the controller / processor 375 provides demultiplexing between transport channels and logical channels, packet reassembly, decryption, header decompression, control signal processing to recover IP packets from the UE 350. The IP packets from the controller / processor 375 may be provided to the EPC 160. The controller / processor 375 is also responsible for error detection using ACK and / or NACK protocols to support HARQ operations.
[0064] At least one of the TX processor 368, the RX processor 356, and the controller / processor 359 may be configured to perform operations related to Figure 1 Various aspects related to the UE CSI reporting configuration component 198.
[0065] At least one of the TX processor 316, the RX processor 370, and the controller / processor 375 may be configured to perform operations related to Figure 1 Various aspects related to the base station CSI reporting configuration component 199.
[0066] A wireless network may support connections for a large number of UEs. Such a wireless network may support high-capacity communications and / or URLLC communications. A wireless network may include multiple transmit-receive points (TRPs) to improve reliability, coverage, and capacity. TRPs may include any one of macro cells, small cells, micro cells, femto cells, remote radio heads, relay nodes, and the like. In some examples, due to the longer distance from the base station to the UE at the cell edge and / or due to interference from neighboring base stations, the UE may experience low quality of service (QoS). Multi-TRP communications may include dynamic coordination between multiple TRPs to, for example, provide joint scheduling and transmission / reception for the UE. In this way, the UE at the cell edge may be served by multiple TRPs to improve its signal transmission / reception, thereby generating increased throughput. In some examples, control signals may be sent to the UE from multiple TRPs (e.g., to improve reliability for URLLC, V2X, high-speed UEs, etc.). Control signaling from multiple TRPs may provide link diversity gain and may improve reception for UEs close to or located at the cell edge. In a device that uses multiple beams for communication, such multi-TRP communications may include a beam management process.
[0067] Figure 4An example communication system 400 is shown according to the teachings disclosed herein, the communication system 400 including a base station 402, a UE 404, a first TRP 406a ("TRP1"), and a second TRP 406b ("TRP2"). In the example shown, the base station 402 and the UE 404 are operating in a multi-TRP communication mode, wherein the base station 402 is connected to the first TRP 406a and the second TRP 406b, and the first TRP 406a and the second TRP 406b are connected to the UE 404. Therefore, a message sent by the base station 402 and received by the UE 404 (or sent by the UE 404 and received by the base station 402) can be transmitted via one or both of the first TRP 406a and the second TRP 406b. For example, regarding a downlink message sent by the base station 402 to the UE 404, the downlink message may be sent by the base station 402 to one or both of the first TRP 406a and the second TRP 406b, and then sent to the UE 404 by one or both of the first TRP 406a and the second TRP 406b.
[0068] For example, a downlink message may be sent by the base station 402 and received by the first TRP 406a, and then the downlink message may be sent by the first TRP 406a and received by the UE 404. In some examples, a downlink message may be sent by the base station 402 and received by the second TRP 406b, and then the downlink message may be sent by the second TRP 406b and received by the UE 404. In some examples, a downlink message may be sent by the base station 402 and received by the first TRP 406a and the second TRP 406b, and then the downlink message may be sent by the first TRP 406a and the second TRP 406b and received by the UE 404. In some such examples in which the base station 402 sends a downlink message that is received by the first TRP 406a and the second TRP 406b, the downlink message received by the first TRP 406a and the message received by the second TRP 406b may be similar. In some examples, the base station 402 may divide the message into two or more parts, and, for example, send the first part of the message to the first TRP 406a, and send the second part of the message to the second TRP 406b. Therefore, as used herein, when a message (e.g., a downlink message or an uplink message) is indicated as being sent by a first device (e.g., the base station 402 and / or the UE 404) and received by a second device (e.g., the UE 404 and / or the base station 402), it is understood that the message is first sent by the first device and received by one or both of the first TRP 406a and the second TRP 406b, and then sent by one or both of the first TRP 406a and the second TRP 406b to the second device.
[0069] When a multi-TRP communication mode is adopted, the transmission may include a joint transmission, in which multiple TRPs send data to, for example, a UE simultaneously. The joint transmission may include a coherent joint transmission (CJT) or a non-coherent joint transmission (NCJT). Coherent joint transmission corresponds to when multiple TRPs are able to coordinate with each other. However, when multiple TRPs cannot coordinate, for example, due to non-ideal backhaul, joint scheduling between TRPs may not be feasible (for example, due to delays in coordination of control signaling and / or data packets, and / or limited backhaul capacity).
[0070] For example, in the Figure 4In the example of FIG. 4 , the first TRP 406a and the second TRP 406b can establish a backhaul connection 450, which enables the first TRP 406a and the second TRP 406b to coordinate joint transmissions (e.g., coherent joint transmissions). Thus, the first TRP 406a and the second TRP 406b can coordinate when sending messages from the base station 402 to the UE 404 and / or from the UE 404 to the base station 402. For example, the first TRP 406a and the second TRP 406b can coordinate transmissions to reduce interference or overlap of signals.
[0071] In other examples, one or more TRPs may not be able to coordinate a joint transmission. Figure 4 A second base station 403 that can operate in a multi-TRP communication mode with a UE 404 is included. For example, the base station 402 can be connected to a second TRP 406b and a third TRP 406c, and the second TRP 406b and the third TRP 406c are connected to the UE 404. Therefore, a message sent by the second base station 403 and received by the UE 404 (or sent by the UE 404 and received by the second base station 403) can be transmitted via one or both of the second TRP 406b and the third TRP 406c. For example, with respect to a downlink message sent by the second base station 403 to the UE 404, the downlink message can be sent by the base station 402 to one or both of the second TRP 406b and the third TRP 406c, and then sent to the UE 404 by one or both of the second TRP 406b and the third TRP 406c. The second TRP 406b and the third TRP 406c may be referred to as a "TRP group with NCJT" (eg, TRP group with NCJT 460). That is, the second TRP 406b and the third TRP 406c may facilitate sending a joint transmission, but the transmission may be a non-coherent joint transmission.
[0072] Although the above description provides an example in which the communication system 400 includes three TRPs, it is understood that in other examples, the communication system may include any appropriate number of TRPs. In addition, other examples may include any appropriate number of TRPs that facilitate coherent joint transmission, any appropriate number of TRPs that facilitate incoherent joint transmission, and / or any appropriate number of TRP groups with NCJT.
[0073] In some examples, a wireless network may support connections for a large number of UEs. Such a wireless network may include multiple TRPs to improve reliability, coverage, and / or capacity (e.g., Figure 4In an example communication system 400 of a multi-TRP communication system, a base station and a UE may communicate with each other by sending messages using one or more of the TRPs. For example, a base station may be connected to one or more geographically distributed TRPs, which may then individually or jointly send messages to one or more UEs and / or may individually or jointly receive messages from one or more UEs. For example, in Figure 4 In some such examples, the base station 402 may be connected to a first TRP 406a and a second TRP 406b, and the first TRP 406a and the second TRP 406b may both be connected to the UE 404. In some such examples, the base station and the UE may communicate (e.g., send and / or receive messages) via the first TRP, may communicate via the second TRP, or may communicate via the first TRP and the second TRP.
[0074] The channel state feedback process may include: a first device (e.g., a user equipment (UE)) receiving a channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) from a second device (e.g., a base station); generating (or measuring) CSI information based on, for example, the CSI-RS; and sending a CSI report including the CSI information to the second device. For example, the base station may send downlink data to the UE based on a precoding matrix indicated by a PMI value of the CSI report. In some examples, the base station may send a phase tracking reference signal (PT-RS) to the UE based on a layer indicated by an LI value of the CSI report.
[0075] In some examples, receiving CSI-RS may trigger the UE to send a CSI report including CSI information. The UE may then generate CSI information based on the CSI-RS. The CSI information may include CRI, RI, CQI, PMI, LI, etc.
[0076] When operating in a multi-TRP communication mode, the UE may use one or more of the TRPs to send CSI reports. For example, when operating in a two-TRP communication system (e.g., in combination with Figure 4 Base station 402, UE 404, first TRP 406a and second TRP 406b and / or Figure 4In the example shown in the figure, the UE may send a CSI report via a first TRP (e.g., a first TRP 406a or a third TRP 406c), via a second TRP (e.g., a second TRP 406b), or via two TRPs (e.g., a first TRP 406a and a second TRP 406b, or a second TRP 406b and a third TRP 406c). In addition, in some examples, when sending a CSI report to a base station, the UE may divide the CSI report into different parts. For example, the UE may divide the CSI report into two parts by including a first part of the CSI information in a first CSI report message and including a second part of the CSI information in a second CSI report message. In some such examples, the UE may send two parts of the CSI report via the first TRP, via the second TRP, or via two TRPs. In addition, the UE may determine to send a CSI report to the base station by sending a first CSI report message using a first TRP and sending a second CSI report message using a second TRP.
[0077] It will be appreciated that although the above examples describe dividing the CSI report into two parts and using a different TRP to send each CSI report part, in other examples, the UE may determine to divide the CSI report into any appropriate number of parts and may determine to use any appropriate combination of TRPs to send any appropriate number of CSI report parts.
[0078] In some examples, when the UE is performing a channel state feedback process, the UE may generate CSI information including a PMI. The PMI may be used to indicate a quantized precoding matrix and may include one or more code points of a codebook. In some examples, the UE may determine the PMI based on the RI and the CRI. In some examples, the UE may send a PMI without frequency compression, which may improve the accuracy of the reported information, but may also increase the overhead in the signaling (e.g., by increasing the amount of CSI information included in the CSI report). In other examples, the UE may send a PMI with frequency compression, which may reduce the overhead in the signaling, but may also reduce the accuracy of the reported information.
[0079] In some examples where the UE sends a PMI without frequency compression, the PMI may include wideband PMI information and subband PMI information for an associated subband. For example, for a wideband or for one subband, the precoding matrix (W) may be the product of a first matrix (W1) and a second matrix (W2), wherein the precoding matrix (W) includes P rows and N layerColumns. In some such examples, the number of rows (P) of the precoding matrix (W) can be represented by twice the product of N1 and N2, where the variable N1 represents the number of horizontal antenna elements of the UE and the variable N2 represents the number of vertical antenna elements of the UE. The first matrix (W1) can represent a spatial basis including L beams (e.g., L columns) per polarization group. The second matrix (W2) can represent coefficients corresponding to the contribution of each beam in each layer. When the precoding matrix (W) corresponds to a wideband, both matrices (W1) and (W2) can be wideband. When the precoding matrix (W) corresponds to a subband, the first matrix (W1) can be wideband and the second matrix (W2) can be subband. The UE can then report the quantization results of the first matrix (W1) and the second matrix (W2) as PMI.
[0080] In an example where the UE sends PMI with frequency compression, the PMI may include spatial basis information, coefficients, and frequency basis information. For example, for one layer, the compressed precoding matrix (W) may exploit the sparsity of both spatial and frequency domain information. In some such examples, the compressed precoding matrix (W) may be a first matrix (W1), a second matrix (W2), and a third matrix The first matrix (W1) may represent the spatial basic information and may include P rows and 2*L columns, where the variable L represents the number of beams (or columns) per polarization group. The second matrix (W2) may represent the linear combination coefficients (e.g., amplitude and / or phase) and may include 2*L rows and M columns, where each element of the second matrix (W2) corresponds to a coefficient of a tap for a beam. The third matrix The third matrix may represent frequency domain basic information and may include M rows and N3 columns. Basis vectors may be included for performing compression in the frequency domain. In such an example, each row may correspond to a basis vector. For example, the third matrix The basis vectors of may be derived from a plurality of columns in a discrete Fourier transform (DFT) matrix. In some such examples, the compressed precoding matrix (W) may include P rows and N3 columns. The UE may then convert the first matrix (W1), the second matrix (W2), and the third matrix for all layers into The quantitative results are reported as PMI.
[0081] In some examples, the CSI information generated by the UE may include one PMI value. For example, when the UE and the base station are operating in a zero TRP communication system or a single TRP communication system, the UE may send a CSI report received by the base station including one PMI value. However, in an example in which the UE and the base station are operating in a multi-TRP communication system, the UE may generate multiple PMI values. For example, the CSI information may include a PMI value for each TRP of the multi-TRP communication system.
[0082] In some examples, when performing a channel state feedback process, the UE may generate CSI information including a layer indicator (LI). The LI value may indicate which column of the precoding matrix of the reported PMI corresponds to the strongest layer of the codeword corresponding to the reported maximum wideband CQI. It will be appreciated that one or more wideband CQI values may exist in a CSI report. In some such examples, one or more wideband CQI values may correspond to different codewords. As noted above, a wideband CQI value may correspond to a PMI value. In addition, in some examples, the precoding matrix indicated by the PMI value may include one or more columns (as indicated by the RI value). In some such examples, the LI value indicates a column of the precoding matrix indicated by the PMI value, which corresponds to the strongest spatial layer. If the CSI report includes two wideband CQIs with the same value, the LI may correspond to the strongest layer of the first codeword.
[0083] Therefore, it can be understood that the LI value of the CSI report can be determined based on the generated CQI, PMI, RI and CRI. For example, a precoding matrix can be associated with one or more layers (or columns). The RI value can indicate the number of layers included in the precoding matrix indicated by the PMI value. For a pair of RI values and PMI values, if the RI value is 1, it can be determined that the corresponding precoding matrix includes one layer. In some such examples, the UE can determine that the LI value for the precoding matrix is not included because this layer represents the strongest layer. In examples where the RI value is greater than 1 (for example, the precoding matrix includes two or more layers), the UE can determine the LI value based on the index of the layer that is the strongest layer (for example, the layer associated with the maximum channel response).
[0084] In some examples, the base station may use the LI value of the CSI report to send a downlink message to the UE. For example, the base station may send a phase tracking reference signal (PT-RS) in the layer indicated by the LI value of the CSI report. By using the layer indicated by the LI value (e.g., the strongest spatial layer among the spatial layers measured by the UE), the base station is able to improve the reception performance of the PT-RS at the UE. In addition, the UE can perform phase noise estimation based on the PT-RS, and therefore, due to the improved reception performance of the PT-RS, the estimated phase noise can be improved.
[0085] In some examples, the CSI report may include an LI value. In a zero TRP communication system or a single TRP communication system, one LI value may be acceptable for sending a downlink message using a layer indicated by an LI value. However, in a multi-TRP communication system, it will be understood that the measurements made by the UE when generating CSI information may vary for the corresponding TRP. That is, the layer indicated by a single LI value may not represent the strongest spatial layer for each TRP in the TRP. For example, the phase noise parameters for each TRP may not be the same. Therefore, the example techniques disclosed herein include a CSI report configuration that may indicate to the UE the number of LI values to be included in the CSI report when the base station and the UE are operating in a multi-TRP communication mode. In addition, in some examples, the CSI report configuration may include an identifier of one or more TRPs for which the UE will include LI values.
[0086] In some examples, a set of wideband CQI values may be associated with a TRP, and each wideband CQI value in the set may correspond to a codeword. It will be appreciated that the set of wideband CQI values may include one or more wideband CQI values. In some examples where the base station and the UE are operating in a multi-TRP communication mode, the CSI report provided by the UE may include CSI information for two or more TRPs. For example, the CSI report may include two or more sets of CQI values, and each set of CQI values may correspond to a corresponding TRP.
[0087] However, in some examples, the UE may not have sufficient UL resources (e.g., due to limited uplink control channel resources, large propagation loss, etc.) to include all generated CSI information in the allocated UL resources (e.g., multiple symbols, subslots, or one slot). In some such examples, the UE may divide the CSI information into two or more parts and send the divided CSI information in corresponding CSI report parts. For example, the UE may divide the CSI information into a primary part and a secondary part. The UE may then send the primary part of the CSI information using a primary CSI report message, and may send the secondary part of the CSI information using one or more secondary CSI report messages.
[0088] Although the above description provides an example in which the UE divides the CSI information due to insufficient UL resources, it can be understood that in other examples, the UE may divide the CSI information into two or more parts due to signaling provided by the base station, for example.
[0089] In some examples, the primary CSI report message can be defined by a fixed size. In order to enable the fixed size of the primary CSI report message to be applicable to any number of TRPs (or TRP groups) when operating in a multi-TRP communication mode, the main part of the CSI information can be configured to include a set of CQI values corresponding to the TRP (or TRP group) with the strongest CQI value. The CQI value sets associated with other TRPs (or TRP groups) can be included in the auxiliary part of the CSI information and can be sent by the UE to the base station using one or more auxiliary CSI report messages (collectively referred to as "auxiliary CSI report messages" in this article).
[0090] In some examples, the primary portion of the CSI information may be configured to enable the base station to operate using information provided by the primary CSI report message. For example, the base station may receive the primary CSI report message but may not receive the secondary CSI report message. In some such examples, the base station may use the CSI information of the primary CSI report message (e.g., the primary portion of the CSI information generated by the UE) to determine how and / or what information to send to the UE in a downlink message.
[0091] However, in some examples, it is possible that the main portion of the CSI information may not include an identifier of a TRP (or TRP group) to which the CQI value set is associated. In some such examples, if the base station does not successfully receive the secondary CSI report message, the base station may determine that the CQI value set included in the primary CSI report message is invalid because the base station may not be able to use the CQI value set to send a downlink message. In addition, it is understood that since the base station may wait for retransmission of the primary CSI report message and the secondary CSI report message, radio resources may be wasted and / or transmission latency may be extended.
[0092] Thus, example techniques disclosed herein include CSI reporting configurations that cause the UE to include the strongest TRP indicator (STI) associated with a set of CQI values when the UE divides the CSI information into a primary part and a secondary part. For example, when the UE determines that the UE can send all CSI information in a single CSI report message, the UE may determine not to include an STI value in the CSI report message.
[0093] However, when the UE determines that the UE cannot (or is not able to) send all CSI information in a single CSI report message (for example, it is determined that the CSI information is divided into a main part and an auxiliary part), the UE may include the STI value associated with the CQI value set in the main CSI report message based on the CSI report configuration. That is, the main CSI report message may include the CRI, RI, broadband CQI value set associated with the strongest TRP (or TRP group), LI associated with the strongest TRP (or TRP group), and the STI value identifying the strongest TRP (or TRP group). In some examples, the main part of the CSI information may also include information about the size of the auxiliary part of the CSI information. For example, the information about the size may include the number of TRPs (or TRP groups) for which the CQI value set is included and / or the total number of non-zero coefficients in the PMI for each of the TRPs (or TRP groups). In some examples, the main CSI report message may include information about the number of auxiliary CSI report messages.
[0094] In addition, in some examples, it may be beneficial for the UE to prioritize the information included in the second portion of the CSI information. For example, due to limited uplink resources, the UE may determine to discard (or not send) low priority information of the auxiliary portion of the CSI information. The example techniques disclosed herein enable the UE to group and prioritize information in the auxiliary portion of the CSI information, such that some CSI information may be retained and sent (e.g., via an auxiliary CSI report message), and the remaining CSI information may be discarded or dropped. For example, the UE may determine to retain and send high priority CSI information, and to discard (or drop) low priority CSI information.
[0095] Figure 5 An example of wireless communication 500 between a base station 502 and a UE 504 as presented herein is shown. Figure 5 In the example shown in , base station 502 and UE 504 are operating in a multi-TRP communication mode, wherein base station 502 is connected to two or more TRPs and messages can be transmitted between base station 502 and UE 504 using one or more of the TRPs. Figure 5 In the example of FIG. 5 , the base station 502 and the UE 504 are connected to and communicate with the first TRP 506a and the second TRP 506b. One or more aspects of the base station 502 may be provided by Figure 1 Base station 102 / 180, Figure 3 Base station 310 and / or Figure 4 One or more aspects of UE 504 may be implemented by Figure 1 UE 104, Figure 3UE 350 and / or Figure 4 UE 404 is implemented.
[0096] One or more aspects of the TRP 506a, 506b may be determined by Figure 4 In some examples, TRPs 506a, 506b may correspond to TRPs that facilitate coherent joint transmission, such as the first TRP 406a and the second TRP 406b. In some examples, TRPs 506a, 506b may correspond to TRPs that facilitate incoherent joint transmission, such as the second TRP 406b and the third TRP 406c (e.g., TRP group 460 with NCJT). Therefore, it can be understood that a TRP may refer to a specific TRP or a specific TRP group.
[0097] Although Figure 5 The wireless communication 500 includes a base station 502 communicating with a UE 504 via two TRPs 506a, 506b, but in additional or alternative examples, the UE 504 can communicate with any appropriate number of base stations and / or TRPs. For example, the UE 504 can communicate with zero, one, two or more base stations and / or the UE 504 can communicate with zero, one, two or more TRPs. In addition, the base station 502 can communicate with any appropriate number of other base stations, UEs and / or TRPs. In addition, one or both of the TRPs 506a, 506b can communicate with any appropriate number of base stations, TRPs and / or UEs.
[0098] It is understood that when the first device sends a message received by the second device, the message can be transmitted via one or both of TRPs 506a, 506b. For example, in the downlink, the base station 502 can send a message received by the first TRP 506a, the second TRP 506b, or both TRPs 506a, 506b. Then, the first TRP 506a, the second TRP 506b, or both TRPs 506a, 506b can send a message to the UE 504. In a similar manner, in the uplink, the UE 504 can send a message received by the first TRP 506a, the second TRP 506b, or both TRPs 506a, 506b. Then, the first TRP 506a, the second TRP 506b, or both TRPs 506a, 506b can send a message to the base station 502.
[0099] In the shown Figure 5In the example of , the base station 502 can determine at 510 a CSI report configuration 522 to be provided to the UE 504. As disclosed herein, the CSI report configuration 522 facilitates improved channel estimation between the base station 502 and the UE 504 operating in a multi-TRP communication mode, such as Figure 4 Example communication system 400 of . In some examples, and as described below, CSI report configuration 522 can request multiple TRP transmission values and / or indicate the configuration of CSI reports generated by UE 504 and sent to base station 502. For example, CSI report configuration 522 can indicate to UE 504 the number of LI values to be included in the CSI report, can indicate to UE 504 whether to divide CSI information into two or more parts and send the divided CSI information in corresponding CSI report messages, and / or can indicate to UE 504 whether to include a strongest TRP indicator (STI) value in the CSI report. In some examples, the STI value indicates a specific TRP. In some examples, the STI value indicates a specific TRP group.
[0100] The base station 502 then sends a CSI report configuration message 520 that is received by the UE 504. Aspects of the CSI report configuration message 520 may be implemented by a CSI-RS. In the example shown, the CSI report configuration message 520 includes a CSI report configuration 522 determined by the base station 502 (e.g., at 510). In some examples, the reception of the CSI report configuration message 520 by the UE 504 may trigger the UE 504 to perform a channel state feedback procedure. For example, the UE 504 may generate CSI information and send a CSI report including the generated CSI information to the base station 502. In some examples, the UE 504 may receive the CSI report configuration message 520 via radio resource control (RRC) signaling, via a medium access control-control element (MAC-CE), and / or via downlink control information (DCI).
[0101] After receiving the CSI report configuration message 520 and the CSI report configuration 522, the UE 504 generates CSI information based on the CSI report configuration message 520 at 530. For example, the UE 504 may perform measurements and generate CSI information including CRI, RI, CQI, PMI, LI, etc. for each TRP and / or TRP group in a plurality of TRPs. In some examples, and as disclosed below, the UE 504 may generate CSI information based on the CSI report configuration 522. For example, the UE 504 may determine a PMI value for each TRP in the TRPs 506a, 506b, and may also determine a LI value for each of the corresponding PMI values. In some examples, the UE 504 may determine a LI value for a precoding matrix based on a channel response strength for each layer of the precoding matrix indicated by the PMI for each of the TRPs 506a, 506b.
[0102] The UE 504 may then prepare a CSI report including the CSI information and based on the CSI reporting configuration 522 at 540. For example, the UE 504 may determine to send the CSI information generated by the UE 504 in a single CSI report message (e.g., at 530). In other examples, the UE 504 may determine to divide the CSI information into two or more parts and send the corresponding parts of the CSI information using two or more CSI reporting messages. In some examples, the UE 504 may determine the configuration of the CSI report based on the CSI reporting configuration 522. For example, and as described below, the UE 504 may determine what CSI information to include in the CSI report based on the CSI reporting configuration 522, and / or may determine whether to divide the CSI information into two parts. For example, the CSI reporting configuration 522 may indicate to the UE 504 the number of LI values to be included in the CSI report, and / or may include identifiers of one or more TRPs in the TRPs for which LI values are to be included. In some examples, the CSI reporting configuration 522 can indicate to the UE 504 whether to divide the CSI information into two parts and send the CSI report using two or more corresponding messages (e.g., a primary CSI report message and one or more secondary CSI report messages). In some examples, the CSI reporting configuration 522 can indicate to the UE 504 that when the UE 504 determines to divide the CSI information into two or more parts, the UE 504 is to include the STI value and information about the number of TRPs for which the CSI information is generated (e.g., information about the size of the secondary part of the CSI information) in the primary part of the CSI information.
[0103] In some examples, UE 504 may determine to divide the CSI information into a main part and a secondary part based on available uplink resources and / or the quality of the uplink resources. For example, when the size of the generated CSI information is greater than the capacity associated with the uplink control channel resources (e.g., due to available uplink control channel resources and / or due to measured propagation loss associated with the uplink control channel resources), UE 504 may determine to divide the CSI information into two parts. In some examples, UE 504 may determine to divide the CSI information into a main part and a secondary part based on signaling received from base station 502 (e.g., via CSI report configuration 522). In some examples, UE 504 may determine to divide the CSI information into a main part and a secondary part based on separate signaling between base station 502 and UE 504. In some examples, UE 504 may determine to divide the CSI information into a main part and a secondary part based on a previous configuration of UE 504.
[0104] The UE 504 may then send a primary CSI report message 550 that is received by the base station 502. The UE 504 may also send one or more secondary CSI report messages 560 that may be received by the base station 502. It may be appreciated that if the UE 504 determines that the generated CSI information may be sent in a single CSI report message (e.g., at 540), the primary CSI report message 550 may correspond to the single CSI report message, and the UE 504 may not send (or abstain from sending) the secondary CSI report message 560. The UE 504 may send the primary CSI report message 550 and / or the secondary CSI report message 560 using uplink resources allocated to the UE 504, such as a PUCCH or a PUSCH.
[0105] The primary CSI report message 550 may include the generated CSI information (e.g., at 530). In some examples, the primary CSI report message 550 may include a portion of the CSI information. For example, the primary CSI report message 550 may include a main portion of the CSI information (as determined at 540). When the CSI information is divided into two or more portions, the secondary portion of the CSI information may be sent by the UE 504 and may be received by the base station 502 via the secondary CSI report message 560.
[0106] In some examples, the base station 502 can send a downlink message 570 that is received by the UE 504. The base station 502 can send the downlink message 570 based on one or more components of the CSI information included in the CSI report messages 550, 560. For example, the base station 502 can send downlink data (e.g., via a downlink data channel such as a PDSCH) using a precoding matrix indicated by the PMI.
[0107] In some examples, the base station 502 may send a phase tracking reference signal (PT-RS) based on the layer indicated by the LI value included in the CSI report message 550, 560. For example, based on the channel response strength for each layer of the corresponding TRP 506a, 506b, the UE 504 may generate a first LI value for the first TRP 506a and may generate a second LI value for the second TRP 506b. The base station 502 may receive the LI value for each of the TRPs 506a, 506b in the CSI report message 550, 560. The base station 502 may then send the PT-RS in the corresponding layer indicated for each of the TRPs 506a, 506b via a downlink message 570. In some such examples, the downlink message 570 may include a first PT-RS sent to the UE 504 via a first TRP 506a using a layer indicated by a first LI value, and may include a second PT-RS sent to the UE 504 via a second TRP 506b using a layer indicated by a second LI value. That is, instead of sending PT-RS to different TRPs 506a, 506b using the same layer as indicated by a single LI value, the disclosed technology enables the base station 502 to send PT-RS to different TRPs 506a, 506b using the strongest corresponding layer as indicated by different LI values. It will be appreciated that the UE 504 can then estimate and mitigate phase noise based on the received PT-RS for each of the TRPs 506a, 506b.
[0108] As described above, in some examples, the UE 504 may generate CSI information (e.g., at 530) and / or prepare a CSI report based on the CSI report configuration 522 (e.g., at 540). For example, in some examples, when the base station 502 and the UE 504 are operating in a multi-TRP communication mode, the CSI report configuration 522 may request the UE 504 to provide (or configure the UE 504 to provide) a multi-TRP transmission value, such as a number of LI values, in the CSI report. For example, the CSI report configuration 522 may indicate to the UE 504 that zero LI values, one LI value, or multiple LI values are included. In some examples, when the CSI report configuration 522 indicates to the UE 504 that zero LI values are included, the UE 504 may not include the LI value for any one of the TRPs 506a, 506b for the multi-TRP communication system in the CSI report.
[0109] In some examples, when the CSI report configuration 522 indicates (or configures) to include an LI value to the UE 504, the UE 504 includes an LI value in the CSI report. In some examples, an LI value may correspond to the strongest spatial layer based on different PMI values. In some examples, an LI value may correspond to the strongest spatial layer associated with the indicated TRP (or TRP group). For example, an LI value may be associated with the first TRP 506a, may be associated with the second TRP 506b, or may be associated with the TRP group. In some such examples, an identifier for the indicated TRP (or TRP group) may be provided to the UE 504 via the CSI report configuration 522 and / or via separate signaling between the base station 502 and the UE 504. In an additional or alternative example, the UE 504 may include an identifier for the TRP (or TRP group) to which the LI value corresponds in the CSI report.
[0110] In some examples, when the CSI report configuration 522 indicates to the UE 504 that multiple LI values are included, the UE 504 includes two or more LI values in the CSI report. In some such examples, the UE 504 may include two or more LI values for a TRP (or TRP group) identified by the base station 502. For example, the base station 502 may include identifiers for two TRPs 506a, 506b and / or for a TRP group in the CSI report configuration 522, and / or include identifiers for two or more TRPs 506a, 506b or TRP groups via separate signaling between the base station 502 and the UE 504. In additional or alternative examples, the UE 504 may include an identifier for the TRP (or TRP group) to which the LI value corresponds in the CSI report.
[0111] In some examples where the CSI reporting configuration 522 indicates to the UE 504 that multiple LI values are included, the UE 504 may determine that the UE 504 cannot include multiple LI values in the CSI report. For example, due to limited uplink resources and / or large propagation losses, the UE 504 may not be able to include multiple LI values in the CSI report. In some such examples, the UE 504 may prepare the CSI report (e.g., at 540) by sorting the multiple LI values and discarding those LI values that are determined to be low priority LI values and / or do not meet the LI value priority threshold.
[0112] In some examples, the UE 504 can rank the LI values based on the set of CQI values associated with each TRP (or TRP group). For example, the UE 504 can determine the priority of each LI value relative to other LI values based on the value in the set of CQI values for each TRP (or TRP group) (e.g., the strongest CQI value in the set of CQI values). In some such examples, a larger value in the set of CQI values for a TRP (or TRP group) can correspond to a higher priority for the corresponding LI value.
[0113] In some examples, multiple TRPs may be associated with the same CQI value set value. In some such examples, UE 504 may determine the priority of the corresponding LI value based on the value of RI for each TRP (or TRP group). For example, UE 504 may associate a larger RI value with a higher priority for the corresponding LI value.
[0114] In some examples, multiple TRPs may be associated with the same CQI value set value and the same RI value. In some such examples, UE 504 may determine the priority of the corresponding LI value based on the index of each TRP (or TRP group). For example, UE 504 may associate a smaller TRP index (or a smaller TRP group index) with a higher priority of the corresponding LI value.
[0115] In some examples, the UE 504 can then send the corresponding LI values in the primary CSI report message 550 and / or the secondary CSI report message 560. In this manner, the base station 502 can use the corresponding strongest layer indicated by the LI value for each of the TRPs 506a, 506b (or TRP groups) to send the downlink message 570. For example, the base station 502 can send a first PT-RS to the UE 504 using the first strongest layer indicated by the LI value for the first TRP 506a (e.g., the first LI value), and can send a secondary PT-RS to the UE 504 using the secondary strongest layer indicated by the LI value for the second TRP 506b (e.g., the secondary LI value).
[0116] In some examples, the UE 504 may be configured (e.g., preconfigured) to include a strongest TRP indicator (STI) in the CSI report. In some examples, the CSI report configuration 522 may additionally or alternatively configure the UE 504 to include the STI in the CSI report. For example, when the UE 504 generates CSI information for multiple TRPs, the CSI report configuration 522 may configure the UE 504 to include the STI value in the primary CSI report message 550. In some examples, the CSI report configuration 522 may configure the UE 504 to include the STI value in the primary CSI report message 550. For example, when the UE 504 divides the CSI information into two parts (e.g., a primary part and a secondary part), the UE may include the STI value in the primary part of the CSI information, and the UE 504 uses the primary CSI report message 550 to send the primary part of the CSI information.
[0117] For example, the UE 504 may determine a corresponding set of CQI values for each of the TRPs 506a, 506b (e.g., a first set of CQI values for the first TRP 506a and a second set of CQI values for the second TRP 506b). The UE 504 may then determine an STI value corresponding to an identifier of the TRP (or TRP group) associated with the maximum CQI value. For example, the UE 504 may determine the maximum CQI value from the set of CQI values, determine the TRP (or TRP group) associated with the maximum CQI value, and then determine the STI value based on the determined TRP (or TRP group). In some examples, when the CSI information includes two or more sets of CQI values, the UE 504 may determine to include the STI value in the primary CSI report message 550. That is, when the UE 504 generates CSI information for multiple TRPs (e.g., TRPs 506a, 506b), the UE 504 may include an STI value so that the CQI value set included in the primary CSI report message 550 may be associated with the corresponding TRP (or TRP group). In this way, the base station 502 may use the CSI information included in the primary CSI report message 550 to send the downlink message 570, and is not dependent on the successful reception of the secondary CSI report message 560.
[0118] In some examples, when the UE 504 determines to divide the CSI information into a primary portion and a secondary portion, the UE 504 may group and prioritize the CSI information so that high priority information is retained and sent (e.g., in a CSI report), and low priority information may be abandoned (or discarded) (e.g., not sent). For example, for each of the TRPs 506a, 506b (or TRP groups), the UE 504 may generate CSI information including CRI, RI, CQI, PMI, LI, etc. The UE 504 may also determine an STI value to identify the strongest TRP or the strongest TRP group among the TRPs 506a, 506b. As described above, in some examples, the CSI information may be divided into a primary portion that may be sent to the base station 502 in a primary CSI report message 550, and a secondary portion that may be sent to the base station 502 in a secondary CSI report message 560. The main part of the CSI information may include relatively high priority information and may be configured with a size that is independent of the number of TRPs (or TRP groups) for which the CSI information is generated (e.g., the main part may be defined by a fixed size). The auxiliary part of the CSI information may include relatively low priority information and may be configured with a size that varies based on the number of TRPs (or TRP groups) for which the CSI information is generated.
[0119] In some examples, the information included in the main part of the CSI information can be configured (or selected) so that the base station 502 can use the CSI information included in the main CSI report message 550 to determine how to include information in the downlink message 570 and what information to include, regardless of whether the base station 502 receives the auxiliary CSI report message 560. For example, the main part of the CSI information may include the CRI, RI, wideband CQI associated with the strongest TRP (or TRP group), the LI value associated with the strongest TRP (or TRP group), and the STI value identifying the strongest TRP (or TRP group). The main part of the CSI information may also include information about the size of the auxiliary part of the CSI information. For example, the information about the size may include the number of TRPs (or TRP groups) and / or the total number of non-zero coefficients in the corresponding PMI for the TRP (or TRP group).
[0120] In some examples, the auxiliary portion of the CSI information may include a subband CQI associated with the strongest TRP (or TRP group), a set of CQI values associated with the remaining TRP (or TRP group), a LI value associated with the remaining TRP (or TRP group), and a PMI value for the TRP (or TRP group). The example techniques disclosed herein also enable the UE 504 to prioritize the information included in the auxiliary portion of the CSI information. If, for example, the UE 504 determines that the available uplink resources are insufficient to send all the information included in the auxiliary portion of the CSI information, it may be beneficial to prioritize the information included in the auxiliary portion of the CSI information. In some such examples, the UE 504 may group and prioritize the information included in the auxiliary portion of the CSI information so that relatively low priority information may be abandoned (or discarded).
[0121] For example, for each TRP (or TRP group), the PMI may be divided and grouped, and the corresponding groups of PMI information may be prioritized. For example, the PMI may correspond to a PMI with frequency compression, or may correspond to a PMI without frequency compression. For a PMI with frequency compression, the PMI information may include broadband PMI information, subband PMI information for even subbands, or subband PMI information for odd subbands. For a PMI without frequency compression, the PMI information may include spatial domain basis information, higher priority coefficients and frequency domain basis information, or lower priority coefficients and frequency domain basis information.
[0122] In some examples, the UE 504 may divide and group the PMI information into three groups. For example, the first group (e.g., PMI group zero) may include broadband PMI information for a PMI without frequency compression or spatial domain basis information for a PMI with frequency compression. The second group (e.g., PMI group one) may include subband PMI information or a higher priority coefficient for an even subband of a PMI without frequency compression and frequency domain basis information for a PMI without frequency compression. The third group (e.g., PMI group two) may include subband PMI information or a lower priority coefficient and frequency domain basis information for an odd subband of a PMI without frequency compression.
[0123] After UE 504 divides and groups the PMI information for each TRP into one of the three example PMI groups, UE 504 can prioritize the corresponding group for each TRP. In some examples, the priority order for different PMI groups can vary based on, for example, signaling between base station 502 and UE 504 (e.g., based on CSI report configuration 522 and / or separate signaling), can be preconfigured, and / or can be specified by a standard.
[0124] In a first example PMI priority order variation, PMI group zero for each TRP (or TRP group) may have the highest priority, followed by PMI group one for each TRP (or TRP group), and followed by PMI group two for each TRP (or TRP group). For example, the PMI information may be prioritized (from highest to lowest) as follows: (1) PMI group zero for the first TRP 506a (or first TRP group), (2) PMI group zero for the second TRP 506b (or second TRP group), (3) PMI group one for the first TRP 506a (or first TRP group), (4) PMI group one for the second TRP 506b (or second TRP group), (5) PMI group two for the first TRP 506a (or first TRP group), and (6) PMI group two for the second TRP 506b (or second TRP group).
[0125] In a second example PMI priority order variation, each PMI group of the first TRP (or first TRP group) may have the highest priority, followed by each PMI group of the second TRP (or second TRP group), etc. For example, the PMI information may be prioritized (from highest to lowest) as follows: (1) PMI group zero of the first TRP 506a (or first TRP group), (2) PMI group one of the first TRP 506a (or first TRP group), (3) PMI group two of the first TRP 506a (or first TRP group), (4) PMI group zero of the second TRP 506b (or second TRP group), (5) PMI group one of the second TRP 506b (or second TRP group), and (6) PMI group two of the second TRP 506b (or second TRP group).
[0126] In a third example PMI priority order variation, PMI group zero of each TRP may have the highest priority, followed by the remaining PMI groups (e.g., PMI group one and PMI group two) of the first TRP (or first TRP group), followed by the remaining PMI groups of the second TRP (or second TRP group), etc. For example, the PMI information may be prioritized (from highest to lowest) as follows: (1) PMI group zero of the first TRP 506a (or first TRP group), (2) PMI group zero of the second TRP 506b (or second TRP group), (3) PMI group one of the first TRP 506a (or first TRP group), (4) PMI group two of the first TRP 506a (or first TRP group), (5) PMI group one of the second TRP 506b (or second TRP group), and (6) PMI group two of the second TRP 506b (or second TRP group).
[0127] However, it will be appreciated that other examples may include additional or alternative techniques for partitioning and grouping PMI information and / or for prioritizing PMI groups.
[0128] In some examples, after UE 504 divides and groups the PMI information and prioritizes the PMI groups (e.g., based on a PMI priority order variant), UE 504 may send the PMI information in one or more auxiliary CSI report messages 560 so that higher priority PMI information may be retained and sent, and lower priority PMI information may be discarded (or dropped). Thus, it will be appreciated that whether to retain and send or discard (or drop) the PMI information may be determined based on the priority of the PMI information (e.g., based on the grouping and PMI priority order variant used) and the uplink resources available for sending the PMI information.
[0129] Figures 6 to 9 is a flow chart of a method for wireless communication. The method may be performed by a UE (e.g., UE 104, UE 350 and / or Fig.10 According to various aspects, one or more of the operations of the method may be omitted, swapped, and / or performed simultaneously. Optional aspects are illustrated with dashed lines. These methods may enable a UE to send a CSI report including a requested LI value and / or STI value when operating in a multi-TRP communication mode.
[0130] Figure 6 600 is a flowchart of a method for wireless communication of a UE. At 602, the UE receives a report configuration message requesting a multiple TRP transmission value including at least one of a number of LI values and STI values, as described above in conjunction with Figure 5 For example, 602 may be configured as described in CSI report configuration 522. Fig.10 The report configuration receiving component 1040 of the apparatus 1002 is executed. In some examples, the report configuration message may trigger the execution of the channel state feedback process. In some examples, the report configuration message may be received in at least one of RRC signaling, MAC-CE, and DCI.
[0131] At 604, the UE generates CSI information based on the reception of the report configuration message, the CSI information including the multiple TRP transmission values, as described above in conjunction with Figure 5 530 and / or 540 as described. For example, 604 may be composed of Fig.10 The CSI generation component 1042 of the device 1002 is executed.
[0132] Finally, at 606, the UE sends a report including the generated CSI information, as described above in conjunction with Figure 5For example, 606 may be composed of Fig.10 The report transmission component 1044 of the device 1002 is executed.
[0133] exist Figures 7 to 9 Various aspects of generating CSI information including multiple TRP transmission values and sending a report including the generated CSI information are described.
[0134] Figure 7 700 is a flow chart of a method of wireless communication in which multiple TRP transmission values correspond to LI values. At 702, the UE may determine a PMI for each TRP (or TRP group) associated with the multiple TRP communication mode, as described above in conjunction with Figure 5 530 as described. For example, 702 may be composed of Fig.10 The CSI generation component 1042 of the device 1002 is executed.
[0135] At 704, the UE may determine the strongest spatial layer for the precoding matrix indicated by each of the PMIs. For example, 704 may be Fig.10 The PMI processing component 1046 of the device 1002 is executed.
[0136] At 706, the UE may map each of the strongest spatial layers to a corresponding LI value.
[0137] For example, 706 can be Fig.10 The mapping component 1048 of the device 1002 is executed.
[0138] At 708, the UE may receive a request for zero LI values, one LI value, or multiple LI values. In some examples, the request for the corresponding number of LI values may be included in the report configuration message. For example, 708 may be Fig.10 The report configuration receiving component 1040 of the device 1002 is executed.
[0139] In some examples where the report configuration message includes a request for a zero LI value, the UE may discard the mapped LI value at 710, such as in conjunction with Figure 5 For example, 710 may be composed of Fig.10 The value discarding component 1050 of the device 1002 is executed.
[0140] In some examples where the report configuration message includes a request for one LI value or multiple LI values, at 712, the UE may receive an identifier associated with a corresponding TRP (or TRP group), such as in conjunction with Figure 5For example, if the report configuration message includes a request for one LI value, the UE may receive an identifier for a first TRP (or a first TRP group). If the report configuration message includes a request for multiple LI values, the UE may receive corresponding identifiers for multiple TRPs (or multiple TRP groups). In some examples, identifiers associated with corresponding TRPs (or corresponding TRP groups) may be included in the report configuration message. For example, 712 may be Fig.10 The report configuration receiving component 1040 of the device 1002 is executed.
[0141] In some examples where the report configuration message includes a request for multiple LI values, at 714, the UE may sort the multiple LI values based on at least one of a CQI value, an RI value, and a TRP index value, such as in combination with Figure 5 540 described. In some examples, the UE may sort multiple LI values based on CQI values by, for example, the following operations: when the first CQI value associated with the first TRP (or the first TRP group) is a larger CQI value compared to the second CQI value associated with the second TRP (or the second TRP group), the first LI value associated with the first TRP (or the first TRP group) is arranged as a higher priority than the second LI value associated with the second TRP (or the second TRP group). In some examples, the UE may sort multiple LI values based on CQI values and RI values by, for example, the following operations: when the first CQI value and the second CQI value are the same and the first RI value associated with the first TRP (or the first TRP group) is a larger RI value compared to the second RI value associated with the second TRP (or the second TRP group), the first LI value is arranged as a higher priority than the second LI value. In some examples, the UE may sort the multiple LI values based on the CQI value, the RI value, and the TRP (or TRP group) index value by: when the first CQI value and the second CQI value are the same, the first RI value and the second RI value are the same, and the first TRP index value associated with the first TRP (or the first TRP group) is a smaller index value than the second TRP index value associated with the second TRP (or the second TRP group), arranging the first LI value as a higher priority than the second LI value. For example, 714 may be performed by Fig.10 The sorting component 1052 of the device 1002 is executed.
[0142] At 716, the UE may send a corresponding LI value, such as in combination with Figure 5In some examples, the UE may send a subset of corresponding LI values. For example, due to limited uplink resources, the UE may send LI values based on the corresponding priorities of the LI values. For example, 716 may be composed of Fig.10 The report transmission component 1044 of the device 1002 is executed.
[0143] Figure 8 8 is a flow chart of a method of wireless communication in which CSI information may be divided into a primary portion and a secondary portion.
[0144] At 802, the UE may determine a set of CQI values for each TRP (or TRP group) associated with a multi-TRP communication mode, as described above in conjunction with Figure 5 530 as described. For example, 802 may be Fig.10 The CSI generation component 1042 of the device 1002 is executed.
[0145] At 804, the UE may identify a maximum CQI value from the set of CQI values, such as in combination with Figure 5 For example, 804 may be composed of Fig.10 The CQI processing component 1054 of the device 1002 is executed.
[0146] At 806, the UE may determine the STI value based on an identifier of the TRP (or TRP group) associated with the maximum CQI value, such as in conjunction with Figure 5 For example, 806 may be composed of Fig.10 The mapping component 1048 of the device 1002 is executed.
[0147] At 808, the UE may determine whether to divide the CSI information into a primary part and an auxiliary part, as described above in conjunction with Figure 5 As described in 540 of . In some examples, determining whether to divide the CSI information into a main part and an auxiliary part can be based on at least one of an uplink resource and a request indicated by a report configuration message. In some examples, the main part of the CSI information can include at least one of an STI value, a set of CQI values associated with a TRP indicated by the STI value, and information about the size of the auxiliary part of the CSI information. In some examples, the auxiliary part of the CSI information can include a PMI for each TRP associated with a multi-TRP communication mode. For example, 808 can be Fig.10 The sorting component 1052 of the device 1002 is executed.
[0148] At 810, when the CSI information is partitioned, the UE may send the STI value in a primary report message including a primary portion of the CSI information, as described above in conjunction with Figure 5 The main CSI report message 550 is described as follows. For example, 810 may be composed of Fig.10 The report transmission component 1044 of the device 1002 is executed.
[0149] At 812, the UE may send an auxiliary portion of the CSI information, as described above in conjunction with Figure 5 In some examples, the UE may send a subset of the auxiliary portion of the CSI information. For example, due to limited uplink resources, the UE may send PMI information based on the priority of the PMI information. For example, 812 may be composed of Fig.10 The report transmission component 1044 of the device 1002 is executed.
[0150] Fig. 9 900 is a flow chart of a method of wireless communication in which a UE prioritizes information included in an auxiliary portion of CSI information.
[0151] At 902, the UE may determine whether to divide the CSI information into a primary part and a secondary part, as described above in conjunction with Figure 5 540 as described. For example, 902 may be composed of Fig.10 The sorting component 1052 of the device 1002 is executed.
[0152] In some examples, determining whether to divide the CSI information into a main part and an auxiliary part can be based on at least one of an uplink resource and a request indicated by a report configuration message. In some examples, the main part of the CSI information can be configured with a static size (e.g., a size that does not change based on the number of TRPs (or TRP groups) for which the CSI information is generated), and the auxiliary part of the CSI information can be configured with a dynamic size (e.g., a size that changes based on the number of TRPs (or TRP groups) for which the CSI information is generated). In some examples, the main part of the CSI information may include at least one of a CRI, an RI value, and a wideband CQI value associated with the strongest TRP (or TRP group). In some examples, the main part of the CSI information may also include information about the size of the auxiliary part of the CSI information. In some examples, the auxiliary part of the CSI information may include a PMI for each TRP (or TRP group) associated with a multi-TRP communication mode.
[0153] At 904, when the CSI information is divided, the UE may determine whether to include the STI value in the main part of the CSI information, such as in combination with Figure 5 For example, 904 may be composed of Fig.10The UE may be performed by the sorting component 1052 of the apparatus 1002. In some examples, when the CSI information includes multiple CQI value sets, the UE may determine to include the STI value in the main part of the CSI information.
[0154] At 906, when the CSI information is partitioned, the UE may determine whether to include the LI value associated with the strongest TRP, such as in combination with Figure 5 For example, 906 may be composed of Fig.10 The UE may include the LI value associated with the strongest TRP when the RI value of the precoding matrix indicated by the PMI associated with the strongest TRP is greater than 1 (e.g., the number of layers of the indicated precoding matrix is greater than 1). In some examples, the UE may include the LI value when the strongest TRP is also the TRP for which the identifier is provided by the base station.
[0155] At 908, the UE may send a main report message including a main portion of the CSI information, as described above in conjunction with Figure 5 The main CSI report message 550 is described as follows. For example, 908 may be composed of Fig.10 The report transmission component 1044 of the device 1002 is executed.
[0156] At 910, the UE may group the PMI information for each TRP (or TRP group) into three groups to prioritize the information of the auxiliary portion of the CSI information, as described above in conjunction with Figure 5 For example, 910 may be composed of Fig.10 The PMI processing component 1046 of the device 1002 is executed.
[0157] In some examples, the PMI may be sent without frequency compression, or may be sent without frequency compression. In some examples where the PMI is sent without frequency compression, the PMI may include wideband PMI information, subband PMI information for even subbands, and subband PMI information for odd subbands. In some examples where the PMI is sent with frequency compression, the PMI may include spatial domain basis information, higher priority coefficients and frequency domain basis information, and lower priority coefficients and frequency domain basis information.
[0158] In some examples, the UE may prioritize the PMI for each TRP (or TRP group) based on the first grouping, the second grouping, and the third grouping. For example, the first grouping may include wideband PMI information or spatial basis information, the second grouping may include subband PMI information or a higher priority coefficient and frequency domain basis information for even subbands, and the third grouping may include subband PMI information or a lower priority coefficient and frequency domain basis information for odd subbands.
[0159] At 912, the UE may prioritize the PMIs based on a priority order for each group for each TRP (or TRP group). In some examples, the priority order may be indicated by a report configuration message. For example, 912 may be indicated by Fig.10 The PMI processing component 1046 of the device 1002 is executed.
[0160] In a first example priority order variation, the UE may associate a first priority level with a first grouping of each TRP (or TRP group), a second priority level with a second grouping of each TRP (or TRP group), and a third priority level with a third grouping of each TRP (or TRP group). In some such examples, the first priority level may be the highest priority level, followed by a second priority level, followed by a third priority level (e.g., the second priority level is greater than the third priority level and less than the first priority level). For example, the first grouping for each TRP (or TRP group) (e.g., PMI group zero) may have the highest priority, followed by a second grouping for each TRP (or TRP group) (e.g., PMI group one), followed by a third grouping for each TRP (or TRP group) (e.g., PMI group two).
[0161] In a second example priority order variation, the UE may associate a first priority level with packets of a first TRP (or first TRP group) and associate a lower priority level with packets of a second TRP (or second TRP group). For example, packets of a first TRP (or first TRP group) (e.g., PMI group zero, PMI group one, and PMI group two associated with the first TRP or first TRP group) may have the highest priority, followed by packets of a second TRP (or second TRP group) (e.g., PMI group zero, PMI group one, and PMI group two associated with the second TRP or second TRP group), and so on.
[0162] In a third example priority order variation, the UE may associate a first priority level with the first packet of each TRP (or TRP group), a second priority level with the second and third packets of the first TRP (or first TRP group), and a third priority level with the second and third packets of the second TRP (or second TRP group). In some such examples, the first priority level may be the highest priority level, followed by the second priority level, followed by the third priority level (e.g., the second priority level is greater than the third priority level and less than the first priority level). For example, the first packet of each TRP (or TRP group) (e.g., PMI group zero) may have the highest priority, followed by the remaining two packets of the first TRP (or first TRP group) (e.g., PMI group one and PMI group two), followed by the remaining packets of the second TRP (or second TRP group), and so on.
[0163] At 914, the UE may send an auxiliary portion of the CSI information, as described above in conjunction with Figure 5 As described by one or more auxiliary CSI report messages 560. For example, 914 may be Fig.10 The report transmission component 1044 of the apparatus 1002 is performed. In some examples, the UE can send a subset of the auxiliary part of the CSI information. For example, due to limited uplink resources, the UE can send PMI information based on the corresponding priority of the PMI information.
