AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing capping and fixing equipment is difficult to adapt quickly and conveniently to containers of various sizes and shapes, and is inefficient and has poor user interactivity, making it unsuitable for effective use in commercial retail spaces.

Method used

Near-infrared light-emitting diodes (NIR LEDs) are used as energy emitting elements. Combined with sensors and controllers, the presence of the container is automatically detected and the membrane is activated for fixation. Edge shuttles are set on the support rollers to keep the membrane laterally aligned. RFID tags are used to track the remaining amount of membrane roll. A container presence sensor prevents membrane advance errors.

Benefits of technology

It enables rapid and automatic sealing of containers of different sizes and shapes, improving sealing efficiency, enhancing user experience, reducing membrane waste, and supporting use in commercial retail environments.

Abstract

Systems, devices, and methods of sealing a container are provided. A device for securing a film to a container includes a body portion to house a film and a sealing portion. The sealing portion includes a loading zone to receive a portion of the film from the body portion and an aperture to receive a top portion of the container and the portion of the film therethrough so as to be positionable within a sealing volume. A plurality of near-infrared light emitting diodes (NIR LEDs) face and at least partially surround the top portion of the container when the top portion of the container is positioned within the sealing volume. A controller is configured to receive sensor input from a sensor indicative of the top portion of the container being located within the sealing volume and, in response thereto, cause the plurality of NIR LEDs to activate to secure the portion of the film to the top portion of the container.
