AI Technical Summary
In existing wireless communication technologies, traditional domain definitions and identifiers (such as cell ID, PCI, CI) are not suitable for meeting the diversity of data services and requirements of evolved wireless communication systems.
A transmission control indicator status identifier (TCI) is introduced, and TCI is determined and generated from the transmission of the system information block (SIB), synchronization signals, physical broadcast channel (PBCH) and the like received by the wireless communication device from the wireless communication node. The TCI may be combined with the domain identifier to identify the transmission control indication status within the domain.
Through TCI, wireless communication devices can more accurately identify and manage transmission control indicator status, meet the needs of different data services and requirements, and improve the flexibility and efficiency of wireless communication systems.

Each radio frame 118 / 124 may be further divided into subframes 120 / 127, which may include data symbols 122 / 128. In the present disclosure, BS 102 and UE 104 are described herein as non-limiting examples of "communication nodes," which may generally implement the methods disclosed herein. According to various embodiments of the present solution, such communication nodes may be capable of wireless and / or wired communication.
[0031] Figure 2 A block diagram of an exemplary wireless communication system 200 for transmitting and receiving wireless communication signals (e.g., OFDM / OFDMA signals) according to some embodiments of the present solution is shown. [0032] System 200 generally includes a base station 202 (hereinafter referred to as "BS 202") and a user equipment device 204 (hereinafter referred to as "UE 204"). BS 202 includes a BS (base station) transceiver module 210, a BS antenna 212, a BS processor module 214, a BS memory module 216, and a network communication module 218, each of which is coupled to and interconnected with each other via a data communication bus 220 as needed. UE 204 includes a UE (user equipment) transceiver module 230, a UE antenna 232, a UE memory module 234, and a UE processor module 236, each of which is coupled to and interconnected with each other via a data communication bus 240 as needed. BS 202 communicates with UE 204 via a communication channel 250, which can be any wireless channel or other medium suitable for data transmission as described herein.
[0033] As will be understood by those skilled in the art, the system 200 may also include Figure 2 Any number of modules other than the modules shown. It will be understood by those skilled in the art that the various illustrative blocks, modules, circuits, and processing logic described in conjunction with the embodiments disclosed herein can be implemented in hardware, computer-readable software, firmware, or any actual combination thereof. A downlink duplex switch may alternatively couple the downlink transmitter or receiver to the downlink antenna 212 in a time-duplexed manner. The operation of the two transceiver modules 210 and 230 may be coordinated in time such that the uplink receiver circuit is coupled to the uplink antenna 232 to receive transmissions via the wireless transmission link 250 at the same time as the downlink transmitter is coupled to the downlink antenna 212. Instead, the operation of the two transceivers 210 and 230 may be coordinated in time such that the downlink receiver coupled to the downlink antenna 212 receives the transmission over the wireless transmission link 250 at the same time that the uplink transmitter is coupled to the uplink antenna 232. In some embodiments, there is tight time synchronization with minimal guard times between changes in duplex direction.
[0035] The UE transceiver 230 and the base station transceiver 210 are configured to communicate via a wireless data communication link 250 and cooperate with an appropriately configured RF antenna arrangement 212 / 232 that can support a specific wireless communication protocol and modulation scheme. In some illustrative embodiments, the UE transceiver 230 and the base station transceiver 210 are configured to support industry standards such as Long Term Evolution (LTE) and emerging 5G standards. In this manner, the processor may be implemented as a microprocessor, a controller, a microcontroller, a state machine, or the like. The processor may also be implemented as a combination of computing devices, such as a combination of a digital signal processor and a microprocessor, a plurality of microprocessors, one or more microprocessors combined with a digital signal processor core, or any other such configuration.
[0037] Furthermore, the steps of the methods or algorithms described in conjunction with the embodiments disclosed herein may be embodied directly in hardware, firmware, or software modules executed by processor modules 214 and 236, respectively, or in any practical combination thereof. Memory modules 216 and 234 may be implemented as RAM memory, flash memory, ROM memory, EPROM memory, EEPROM memory, registers, a hard disk, a removable disk, a CD-ROM, or any other form of storage medium known in the art. In this regard, memory modules 216 and 234 may be coupled to processor modules 210 and 230, respectively, such that processor modules 210 and 230 may read information from and write information to memory modules 216 and 234, respectively. Memory modules 216 and 234 may also be integrated into their respective processor modules 210 and 230. [0038] The network communication module 218 generally represents the hardware, software, firmware, processing logic, and / or other components of the base station 202 that support bidirectional communication between the base station transceiver 210 and other network components and communication nodes configured to communicate with the base station 202. For example, the network communication module 218 can be configured to support Internet or WiMAX services. In a typical deployment, but not limited to, the network communication module 218 provides an 802.3 Ethernet interface so that the base station transceiver 210 can communicate with a traditional Ethernet-based computer network. In this manner, the network communication module 218 can include a physical interface for connecting to a computer network (e.g., a mobile switching center (MSC)). As used herein with respect to a particular operation or function, the terms "configured for," "configured to," and their conjugates refer to a device, component, circuit, structure, machine, signal, etc. that is physically constructed, programmed, formatted, and / or arranged to perform a particular operation or function.
[0039] The Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model (referred to herein as the "OSI model") is a concept and logical layout that defines network communications used by systems (e.g., wireless communication devices, wireless communication nodes) that are open to interconnecting and communicating with other systems. The model is divided into seven subcomponents or layers, each of which represents a conceptual set of services provided to the layers above and below it. The OSI model also defines logical networks and effectively describes computer packet delivery by using different layer protocols. The OSI model may also be referred to as a seven-layer OSI model or a seven-layer model. In some embodiments, the first layer may be a physical layer. In some embodiments, the second layer may be a media access control (MAC) layer. In some embodiments, the third layer may be a radio link control (RLC) layer. In some embodiments, the fourth layer may be a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) layer. In some embodiments, the fifth layer may be a radio resource control (RRC) layer. In some embodiments, the sixth layer may be a non-access stratum (NAS) layer or an Internet Protocol (IP) layer, and the seventh layer is another layer.
[0040] 2. System and method for identifying wireless communication services
[0041] In a wireless communication system, a receiving device (e.g., a wireless communication node or wireless communication device, such as a UE, a base station, or a serving node) can identify, discover, distinguish, and / or determine a wireless communication service by using an identifier of a domain (e.g., a cell ID, a service area ID, a PLMN ID, and / or other identifiers). However, certain identifiers (e.g., a cell ID, a PCI, a CI, and / or other identifiers) and / or domain definitions (e.g., a cell, a service area, a PLMN, and / or other definitions) may not be suitable for meeting the requirements of an evolving wireless communication system (e.g., a wireless communication system and / or other wireless communication systems).
[0042] Now refer to Figure 3 , depicts an example wireless communication system 300, such as a cellular communication system. In a cellular communication system, one or more identifiers may be used to identify wireless communication services, such as a physical cell identity (PCI) and / or a layer 3 cell identity (CI). For example, the PCI (or layer 1 cell identity), CI, and / or other identifiers may be used to identify a wireless communication node 302 (e.g., a ground terminal, a base station, a gNB, an eNB, or a serving node) and / or a service in a cell.
[0043] like Figure 4 As shown, a wireless communication device (e.g., a UE or a serving node) can determine, obtain, and / or receive an identifier (e.g., PCI 402, CI 404, and / or other identifier) based on (e.g., using content / information therein) at least one transmission (e.g., a synchronization signal 408, a system information block (SIB) 406, a physical broadcast channel (PBCH), a reference signal, and / or other signals or transmissions) from a wireless communication node 302. For example, the wireless communication device can obtain and / or receive PCI 402 based on a synchronization signal 408 sent and / or transmitted by the wireless communication node 302. In a long term evolution (LTE) system, PCI 402 values can range from 0 to 503, and in a new radio (NR) system, values can range from 0 to 1007. In another example, the wireless communication device can determine, obtain, and / or receive CI 404 based on a layer 3 SIB1 406 broadcast or transmitted from the wireless communication node 302. CI 404 may be a 36-bit identifier (or some other defined length) that may be used for cell identification, for example, within a public land mobile network (PLMN).
[0044] From the perspective of a wireless communication system, a cell may refer to a wireless coverage area and may be associated with a type of entity on a network or within a wireless communication node 302. Wireless network functions (e.g., connection setup, mobility management, paging, and / or other functions) may be based on cell-based services. A wireless communication device may identify, detect, and / or perceive a cell as the smallest unit of wireless network function.
[0045] The technical field related to wireless communication systems may be increasingly interested in large-scale antenna applications and user-centric networks. The desire to distinguish different antennas and / or beams in large-scale antenna applications / techniques (such as beamforming) may lead to the demand for higher-resolution wireless network functions. User-centric networks can provide an enhanced user experience by, for example, enabling seamless mobility management. User-centric network applications may utilize and / or require lower-resolution wireless network functions. The cell, as the smallest unit of wireless network functions, may not meet the different or conflicting requirements for implementing large-scale antenna applications / techniques and user-centric network applications.
[0046] The systems and methods presented herein include a novel method for identifying wireless communication services. A receiving device (or service entity) may determine and / or utilize a novel identifier (e.g., a transmission control indication state identifier (TCI) and / or other identifier) to identify a transmission control indication state that includes one or more types of information (e.g., information related to beams, beamforming, antennas, signal reception properties, and / or other types of information). The receiving device may receive and / or obtain at least one transmission (e.g., SIB, synchronization signal, PBCH, reference signal, channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS), physical channel resource configuration, and / or other transmissions or signals) from a transmitting device (e.g., a service entity or wireless communication node 302, such as a base station). The at least one transmission may be associated, linked, and / or linked to a new identifier (e.g., TCI), for example, by including or having information that can be used to form or establish a new identifier. The receiving device may determine, generate, and / or establish an identifier (e.g., TCI and / or other identifier) based on the received and / or obtained transmission.
[0047] A. Overall design of TCI
[0048] Now refer to Figure 5, depicts a block diagram of an example system 500 for identifying wireless communication services. A cell area 502 (or domain) may include at least one wireless communication node 302 and be associated with at least one identifier, such as a PCI, CI, TCI, and / or other identifier. The PCI, Layer 3 (or RRC layer) CI, and / or other identifiers may be used as coarse-grained identifiers for the cell area 502. The TCI and / or other identifiers may be defined and / or determined to be used as fine-grained identifiers for the cell area 502 (or domain). The wireless communication node 302 may associate and / or associate the TCI and / or other identifiers with one or more antennas (or other transmitting or receiving devices) and / or beams. The wireless communication device may be unaware of the existence of the transmitting antennas and / or beams. The wireless communication device may associate and / or associate the TCI and / or other identifiers with a transmission control indication state upon receiving at least one transmission. For example, the wireless communication device may associate the TCI with delay spread (e.g., use the TCI to describe or include information about the delay spread) upon receiving an SIB and a reference signal. The wireless communication device may receive and / or obtain at least one transmission, such as a physical channel (e.g., a PBCH and / or other channels) and / or signals (e.g., a primary synchronization signal (PSS), a secondary synchronization signal (SSS), a CSI-RS, and / or other signals) from the wireless communication node 302. The wireless communication device may receive and / or obtain at least one transmission conveyed using certain physical resources (e.g., synchronization signal / PBCH block (SSB) resources and / or CSI-RS resources).
[0049] SSBs (or other blocks comprising channels and / or signals) may be associated and / or linked to the same identifier, such as the same PCI and / or other identifier. SSBs with the same identifier (e.g., PCI) may be associated and / or mapped to one or more SSB resources. Thus, an identifier associated with one or more SSB resources may have a granularity that is at least 30% (e.g., 40%, 50% or other percentages) higher than other identifiers (e.g., PCI). A cell may be associated and / or associated with one or more identifiers (e.g., PCI and / or CI). A cell with a PCI and / or CI may be configured with one or more CSI-RS resources. Thus, an identifier associated with or linked to one or more CSI-RS resources may have a granularity that is at least 30% (e.g., 40%, 50% or other percentages) higher than other identifiers (e.g., PCI).
[0050] The wireless communication device may determine and / or utilize an identifier (e.g., a transmission control indication state identifier (TCI) and / or other identifier) to identify a transmission control indication state. The transmission control indication state may include various types of information, such as information related to signal reception properties (e.g., Doppler shift, Doppler spread, average delay, delay spread, and / or other spatial parameters). The wireless communication device may receive, determine, generate, and / or obtain TCI from at least one transmission of the wireless communication node 302. For example, the wireless communication device may determine TCI from multiple transmissions, such as synchronization signals (e.g., PSS / SSS) and reference signals (e.g., CSI-RS).
[0051] The wireless communication device may determine and / or receive an identifier of a domain, such as a cell ID, a service area ID, a PLMN ID, and / or other domain-based identifier. The wireless communication device may determine the identity of the domain using at least one transmission (e.g., a synchronization signal, a SIB, and / or other transmission). For example, the wireless communication device may determine the cell ID using information from the PSS / SSS and / or SIB1. The wireless communication device may determine and / or identify a transmission control indication state within a domain (e.g., a cell, an area, a PLMN, and / or other domain) using the identifier of the domain and any other information. For example, the wireless communication device may use the PLMN ID along with other information to determine an identifier of a transmission control indication state (e.g., the transmission control indication state of the PLMN identified by the PLMN ID).
[0052] The TCI may be a long bit string (e.g., longer than 16 bits) and / or a large integer. The TCI may be generated, specified, and / or indicated using advertising information and / or system information (e.g., SIB1 or other blocks including channels and / or signals). The TCI may be generated, specified, and / or indicated using system information. The system information may be broadcast periodically and / or provided on demand, e.g., by a wireless communication device request. The TCI may be generated, specified, and / or indicated via a wireless communication device message (e.g., via a unicast RRC configuration message).
[0053] A TCI may be configured to be associated, related, and / or linked to one or more physical resources. A physical resource may be associated with one or more physical channels and / or signals. A wireless communication device may construct, assemble, form, or otherwise determine a TCI upon receiving a physical channel and / or signal. The wireless communication device may receive and / or obtain one or more physical resources associated with one or more TCIs. The wireless communication device may be configured to implement and / or satisfy a set of rules for TCI selection (e.g., rules for selecting a TCI, rules for deselecting a TCI, rules for reselecting a TCI, and / or other rules or policies). The set of rules for TCI selection may include one or more thresholds and / or one or more time intervals. In some embodiments, the wireless communication device may obtain measurement quantities by measuring, evaluating, collecting, and / or comparing information related to physical resources, physical channels, and / or physical signals. The measurement quantities may be compared or evaluated with the set of rules for TCI selection, for example, compared with one or more thresholds. In some embodiments, the wireless communication device may select, deselect, and / or reselect a TCI after at least one time interval of the set of rules for TCI selection.
[0054] TCI may be related, associated and / or linked to different types of physical resources having different types of physical channels and / or signals. For example, TCI may be related and / or linked to SSB resources and CSI-RS resources. Thus, TCI may be associated with one or more types of physical resources. In some embodiments, TCI may include one or more fields and / or structures. For example, the most significant bit of TCI may be the same for one or more physical resources. In this case, the most significant bit of TCI may be indicated and / or specified for one or more physical resources. The most significant bit and the least significant bit of TCI may be indicated and / or specified separately. For example, the most significant bit of TCI may be related to a cell identifier, while the least significant bit of TCI may be associated with a resource (e.g., an SSB resource, a CSI-RS resource and / or other resources).
[0055] The TCI may be reselected more frequently than other identifiers (e.g., CI and / or PCI). The CI, PCI, and / or other identifiers may be reselected based on the selection and / or reselection of the TCI. For example, in response to reselecting the TCI, the CI (or other identifier) may be reselected. The selection, reselection, and / or deselection of identifiers (e.g., TCI, PCI, CI, and / or other identifiers) may be configured and / or determined by a set of rules, configurations, and / or network parameters. In some embodiments, the wireless communication device may receive and / or obtain one or more configurations regarding the selection, reselection, and / or deselection of identifiers (e.g., TCI, PCI, CI, and / or other identifiers). In some embodiments, the wireless communication device may use separate configurations to select, reselect, and / or deselect identifiers. For example, the wireless communication device may use a first configuration to select the TCI and a second configuration to select the CI.
[0056] B. Detailed design of TCI
[0057] The wireless communication device may determine, generate, and / or establish TCI using a domain identifier and / or (information about) at least one transmission from the wireless communication node 302. The domain identifier may include a cell ID, a service area ID, a PLMN ID, and / or other domain identifiers. The domain identifier may be automatically selected and / or manually specified. At least one or more transmissions may include a SIB, a synchronization signal (e.g., a PSS / SSS or other signal), a PBCH, and / or a RS. For example, the wireless communication device may determine TCI by using one or more transmissions (e.g., a SIB and a CSI-RS) and a PLMN ID in a synchronization signal (e.g., a PSS / SSS). In some embodiments, the wireless communication device may determine the domain identifier by using at least one transmission (e.g., a synchronization signal and / or a SIB). For example, the wireless communication device may use SIB1 to determine a cell ID (e.g., obtain or extract the cell ID from SIB1). In some embodiments, the domain identifier may be determined in conjunction with the determination of TCI. The domain identifier may be used (along with or as part of the TCI) to identify the transmission control indication state within a domain (e.g., a cell, service area, PLMN, and / or other domain).
[0058] Now refer to Figure 6, depicts a representation 600 of an example identifier for identifying a wireless communication service. A wireless communication device may receive and / or obtain an indication and / or provide information (e.g., CI, PCI, SSBI, and / or other information) to determine at least one transmission of TCI (e.g., SIB, PBCH, and / or other transmission). The wireless communication device may determine, create, and / or generate TCI 610 by using an identifier of a field in SIB 606 and / or additional information in SIB 606. For example, TCI 610 may be generated by using partial information indicated / provided by SIB1 (e.g., a 6-bit partial TCI 602) and CI 404 indicated / provided by SIB1. Synchronization signals (e.g., PSS / SSS 604) and / or other signals may indicate / provide / include PCI 402 and / or other identifiers. The wireless communication device may utilize PCI 402 and / or other identifiers to determine and / or generate TCI 610. Synchronization signals may include PSS / SSS 604 and / or other signals (or channels) used for radio frame synchronization. The synchronization signal may be carried and / or indicated by the first layer (Layer 1) and / or other layers.
[0059] The SIB 606 (and / or other blocks of designated system information) may indicate / provide partial and / or complete information to determine the TCI 610, such as certain identifiers (e.g., CI 404). For example, SIB1 606 (and / or other SIBs) may indicate / provide / include 36 bits (or other bits) of CI 404, 6 bits (or other bits) of partial TCI 602, and / or other identifiers or information. The wireless communication device may extract, obtain, and / or use the CI 404, partial TCI 602, and / or identifiers to generate the TCI 610. The CI 404, partial TCI 602, and / or other identifiers may provide partial and / or complete information to determine the TCI 610. The partial and / or complete information provided by the CI 404, partial TCI 602, and / or other information may be combined, transformed, and / or used to generate additional information to determine the TCPI 610. The blocks of designated system information (e.g., SIB1, SIB2, SIB3, and / or other blocks) may be carried and / or indicated by Layer 3 and / or other layers. The wireless communication device and / or node may utilize other signals, channels, transmissions, and / or information blocks to obtain / extract partial and / or complete information to determine TCI 610.
[0060] A wireless communication device may determine TCI 610 by utilizing information indicated by an SIB (e.g., SIB1 606), a synchronization signal (e.g., PSS / SSS 604), and / or other signals, transmissions, and / or information blocks. For example, a 42-bit (or other bit) TCI 610 may include a 36-bit (or other bit) CI 404 and / or a 6-bit (or other bit) partial TCI 610. CI 404 and / or other identifiers may be indicated by an SIB 606 and / or other blocks, signals, channels, and / or transmissions. CI 404 may have a length of 36 bits or other lengths. Partial TCI 610 and / or other additional information may be provided / indicated by an SIB 606 and / or other blocks, signals, channels, and / or transmissions. Partial TCI 610 may have a length of 6 bits or other lengths. TCI 610 may have a length of 42 bits or other lengths. The CI 404, PCI 402, partial TCI 602, and / or other types of information may provide, contribute, form, indicate, and / or specify the most significant bits of the TCI 610. The CI 404, PCI 402, partial TCI 602, and / or other types of information may provide, contribute, form, indicate, and / or specify the least significant bits of the TCI 610.
[0061] Now refer to Figure 7 , depicts a representation 700 of an example identifier for identifying a wireless communication service. A wireless communication device may determine, create, and / or generate a TCI 710 by using an identifier of a domain provided in (or obtained from) a SIB and / or a synchronization signal block index (SSBI) 702 provided in a PBCH. For example, a wireless communication device may generate the TCI 710 by using the CI 404 provided / indicated by SIB1 and / or the SSBI 702 provided / indicated by the PBCH 704. Synchronization signals (e.g., PSS / SSS 604), PCI 402, SIB 606, CI 404, and / or portions of TCI 602 may include information that has been incorporated into the TCI. Figure 6 One or more features described herein are therefore not described again here.
[0062] The PBCH 704 and / or other channels may provide / indicate partial and / or complete information to determine / form TCI 710, such as a master information block (MIB) and / or SSBI 702. The SSBI 702 may be used to allocate and / or indicate a system synchronization block (SSB). In some embodiments, the PBCH 704 (and / or other channels) may be used to obtain / indicate / provide a 6-bit (or other bit) SSBI 702 and / or other identifiers, indexes, or information. The SSBI 702 may have a length of 6 bits or other length. The wireless communication device may utilize the SSBI 702, MIB, and / or other information to generate TCI 710. The SSBI 702, MIB, PCI 402, CI 404, partial TCI 602, and / or other information may provide partial and / or complete information to determine TCI 710. Partial and / or complete information provided by the SSBI 702, MIB, PCI 402, CI 404, partial TCI 602, and / or other information may be combined, appended, processed, converted, and / or used to generate additional information to determine the TCI 710. A channel (e.g., PBCH) providing / specifying information about the TCI 710 may be carried, indicated, and / or transmitted by the first layer (Layer 1) and / or other layers.
[0063] The wireless communication device can determine TCI 710 by utilizing information indicated / provided by SIB 606, PBCH 704, and / or other signals, transmissions, and / or information blocks. For example, a 42-bit (or other bit) TCI 710 may include a 36-bit (or other bit) CI 404 and / or a 6-bit (or other bit) SSBI 702. For example, CI 404, SSBI 702, and / or other types of information may form, contribute, provide, indicate, and / or specify the most significant bit of TCI 710. CI 404, SSBI 702, and / or other types of information may form, contribute, provide, indicate, and / or specify the least significant bit of TCI 710. This example and other examples are provided by way of illustration only, as the components forming TCI may be arranged in any other order.
[0064] Now refer to Figure 8, depicts a representation 800 of an example identifier for identifying a wireless communication service. The synchronization signal (e.g., PSS / SSS 604), PCI 402, SIB 606, CI 404, and / or partial TCI 602 may each include a combination of Figure 6-7 PBCH 704, MIB and / or SSBI 702 may each include a combination of Figure 7 One or more characteristics of a description.
[0065] The SIB 606 (and / or other blocks of designated system information) may provide / indicate partial and / or complete information used to determine the TCI 810, such as the CI 404, the TCGI 804, and / or other information. For example, the SIB1 606 (and / or other SIBs) may provide / indicate / include a 36-bit (or other bit) CI 404, a 6-bit (or other bit) TCGI 804, and / or other information. A wireless communication device may use the CI 404, the TCGI 804, and / or other information to generate the TCI 810. The TCGI 804 may be provided / indicated by the SIB 606 (e.g., SIB1) and / or other signals, transmissions, and / or information blocks. The TCGI 804 may have a length of 6 bits or other length. The TCGI 804, CI 404, partial TCI 602, PCI 402, SSBI 702, and / or other identifiers may be transmitted / provided / indicated using one or more separate transmissions.
[0067] The CI 404, SSBI 702, TCGI 804, and / or other types of information may form, contribute, indicate, and / or specify the most significant bits of the TCI 810. The CI 404, SSBI 702, TCGI 804, and / or other types of information may form, contribute, indicate, and / or specify the least significant bits of the TCI 810. The CI 404, SSBI 702, and / or TCGI 804 may be arranged, positioned, and / or combined in any order to generate / form the TCI 810. For example, the wireless communication device may generate the TCI 810 by placing the SSBI 702 in the leftmost position, the TCGI 804 in the rightmost position, and the CI 404 in the middle position.
[0068] Now refer to Figure 9 , depicts a representation 900 of an example identifier for identifying a wireless communication service.
