[0049] Figure 3 The terminal 300 (such as Figure 1The terminal 300 is an example of a terminal shown in FIG. 300. The terminal 300 may be provided by any device capable of sending and receiving radio signals. Non-limiting examples include user equipment, a mobile station (MS) or a mobile device (such as a mobile phone or so-called "smart phone"), a computer with a wireless interface card or other wireless interface facilities (e.g., a USB dongle), a personal data assistant (PDA) or tablet computer with wireless communication capabilities, a machine type communication (MTC) device, an Internet of Things (IoT) type communication device, or any combination of these devices. [0053] Certain cells in a wireless communication network may be designated as closed access group (CAG) cells. CAG defines a limited set of UEs that can access a specific CAG cell or cell group. UEs outside the CAG may not be able to access one or more cells in the CAG.

[0054] In some cases, manual CAG selection may be permitted. In manual CAG selection, the user may be allowed to manually select a CAG ID that is not in the allowed CAG list. To make this functionality available, the UE may display one or more CAG IDs that are not in the allowed CAG list. If the user selects a CAG ID that is not allowed, the UE may initiate a registration procedure. If the registration procedure is successful, the UE may add the selected CAG ID to the allowed CAG list.

[0055] In some cases, the UE may only be allowed to access a public land mobile network (PLMN) via certain CAG cells. However, the user may choose to only allow access to PLMNs via CAGs that are not in the allowed CAG list. Therefore, even if the UE is only allowed to access the PLMNs via CAG cells, the user may need to be able to select the PLMN without selecting a CAG.

[0056] In some example embodiments, there is provided a Figure 6 The method shown.

[0057] At step 600, the method includes determining, by the user equipment, that non-closed access group cells are available for use by the user equipment in a public land mobile network. The public land mobile network is identified by a public land mobile network identifier and the user equipment is only allowed to access the public land mobile network via one or more closed access group cells.

[0058] At step 602, the method includes displaying a public land mobile network identity to a user.

[0059] At step 604, the method includes receiving user input selecting a public land mobile network identification.

[0060] At step 606, the method includes transmitting a registration request to the public land mobile network identified by the public land mobile network identification.

[0061] An example of a registration process according to some example embodiments is shown in Figure 4 Shown in.

[0062] like Figure 4 As shown, the user equipment transmits a message including a registration request to the access management function (AMF).

[0063] When the registration process is successful, the AMF transmits a Registration Accept message to the user equipment. Alternatively, if the registration process is unsuccessful, for example if the AMF needs to reject the registration request from the UE, the AMF sends a Registration Reject message.

[0064] In some example embodiments, the displayed information indicating one or more public land mobile networks may indicate which public land mobile networks are available using all supported radio access technologies. The PLMNs that meet the above criteria may be presented in the following order:

[0065] i) if one or more Equivalent Home Public Land Mobile Networks (EHPLMNs) are available, then based on an optional data field on a Universal Mobile Telecommunications System Subscriber Identity Module (USIM), only the highest priority available EHPLMNs are presented to the user, or all available EHPLMNs are presented to the user in order of priority. Alternatively, if the EHPLMN list is not present or is empty, or if the data field is not present on the USIM, then a Home Public Land Mobile Network (HPLMN) is presented instead of an EHPLMN;

[0066] ii) PLMN / Radio Access Technology combinations contained in the USIM in order of priority. The PLMN / Radio Access Technology may be stored in the "User controlled PLMN selector with access technology" data file in the USIM;

[0067] iii) PLMN / Radio Access Technology combinations contained in the USIM in order of priority. The PLMN / Radio Access Technology combinations may be stored in a "PLMN selector with operator control of access technology" data file in the USIM. Additionally or alternatively, the PLMN / Radio Access Technology combinations may be stored in a Mobility Engine (ME);

[0068] iv) other PLMN / radio access technology combinations that received the highest quality signal. If more than one PLMN / radio access technology has the same highest signal quality, the more than one PLMN / radio access technology with the highest signal quality may be displayed in a random order; and v) other PLMN / radio access technology combinations in order of decreasing signal quality.

[0069] In some example embodiments, if the UE supports the CAG feature and the allowed CAG list includes at least one entry, then for each PLMN / radio access technology combination of the NG-RAN access technology, the UE may display a list of PLMN / radio access technology combinations and one or more CAG identifiers (IDs) such that for each CAG-ID, there is an available CAG cell broadcasting the CAG-ID of the PLMN. Additionally, if there is an entry with the PLMN ID of the PLMN in the "CAG Information List" and the CAG-ID is included in the allowed CAG list, the UE may display an indication that the CAG-ID is allowed. Additionally or alternatively, whenever a CAG-ID is displayed, the UE may display whether the CAG-ID is allowed.

[0070] Alternatively, in some example embodiments, if there is an available cell that is not a CAG cell for a PLMN, the UE may display the PLMN / radio access technology combination without a CAG-ID list. In addition, if there is an entry with a PLMN ID of a PLMN in the "CAG Information List", the entry includes an indication that the UE is only allowed to access the 5GS via a CAG cell, the UE may present to the user an indication that the UE is only allowed to access the 5GS (or PLMN) via a CAG cell. Additionally or alternatively, whenever a PLMN / radio access technology combination is displayed without a CAG-ID list, the UE may display whether the UE is only allowed to access the PLMN via a CAG cell.

[0071] In some example embodiments, if there are both available CAG cells and available non-CAG NG-RAN cells for a PLMN, the PLMN / radio access technology combinations may be displayed twice: first, a list of PLMN / radio access technology combinations with the CAG-ID, and second, a list of PLMN / radio access technology combinations without the CAG-ID.

[0072] Alternatively, in some example embodiments, the UE may display a list of primary PLMN / access technology combinations. The list may include a CAG-ID field, which is populated with the CAG ID if the entry has a CAG ID, or with an entry indicating a null CAG-ID if the entry does not have a CAG ID.

[0073] In some example embodiments, how the UE displays the PLMN / Radio Access Technology combinations and the CAG-ID list such that there are both available CAG cells and available non-CAG NG-RAN cells for the PLMN may be UE implementation specific.

[0074] In some example embodiments, the UE may initiate a registration procedure by sending a Registration Request message to the AMF when:

[0075] (a) the UE selects a CAG-ID that is not included in the allowed CAG list of the selected PLMN; or

[0076] (b) a CAG-ID in a PLMN where the entry in the “CAG Information List” does not exist; or

[0077] (c) The UE selects a PLMN in which the entry in the "CAG Information List" includes an indication that the UE is only allowed to access the 5GS via the CAG cell without selecting a CAG-ID.

[0078] If the UE initiates a registration procedure due to manual CAG selection and receives a registration accept message, and the UE has already initiated the registration procedure in a CAG cell, the UE may add the selected CAG-ID to the allowed CAG list of the current PLMN if not already included.

[0079] Alternatively, if the UE initiates a registration procedure due to manual CAG selection and receives a registration acceptance message, and the UE has initiated the registration procedure in a non-CAG cell, the UE may delete the indication that the UE is only allowed to access the 5GS via a CAG cell from the entry in the "CAG Information List" of the current PLMN (if any).

[0080] In some example embodiments, the AMF may reject the registration request from the UE if the UE does not pass the CAG access control. In this case, the AMF may send a registration reject message and a "CAG information list" or a portion of a "CAG information list". For example, if the UE accesses a PLMN by selecting a CAG-ID that the UE is not allowed to use in the PLMN, the network may send the allowed CAG list of the PLMN together with the registration reject message.

[0081] Figure 5 Schematic representations of non-volatile memory media 500a (e.g., a computer disk (CD) or digital versatile disk (DVD)) and 500b (e.g., a universal serial bus (USB) memory stick) storing instructions and / or parameters 502 that, when executed by a processor, enable the processor to perform one or more of the steps of the previously described method.

[0082] It should be noted that embodiments of the present invention may be implemented as circuit systems, in software, hardware, application logic, or a combination of software, hardware, and application logic. In example embodiments, the application logic, software, or instruction set is maintained on any of a variety of conventional computer-readable media. In the context of this document, a "computer-readable medium" may be any medium or device that can contain, store, transmit, propagate, or transfer instructions for use by or in conjunction with an instruction execution system, device, or apparatus (such as a computer or smart phone, or user equipment).
