[0088] Multiple DRX groups may be configured to enhance power saving. A cell for a UE may belong to multiple DRX groups, and at least one cell in at least one DRX group may be configured with a CSI reporting resource, wherein a DRX group may be a group of cells having the same activation time. For example, one or more cells associated with a first frequency range (e.g., FR1) may be configured in a first DRX group, and one or more cells associated with a second frequency range (e.g., FR2) may be configured in a second DRX group. Different DRX groups may have separate DRX timers and may have separate activation times. The activation time may include the time when at least one DRX timer is running. DRX timers include a DRX on-duration timer (e.g., drx-onDurationTimer), a DRX inactivity timer (e.g., drx-InactivityTimer), a DRX retransmission timer downlink (e.g., drx-RetransmissionTimerDL), a DRX retransmission timer uplink (e.g., drx-RetransmissionTimerUL), a ra-contention resolution timer (ra-ContentionResolutionTimer), etc., as described in the technical standard (TS) of the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) (e.g., 3GPP TS 38.321).

[0089] The DRX cycle includes: the DRX activation time (i.e., the on-duration) during which the UE monitors the physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) or downlink control information (DCI), and the DRX period (i.e., the off-duration) during which the UE can skip the reception of downlink channels to save battery. The duration timer indicates the duration of the on-time within a DRX cycle, and the DRX inactivity timer specifies how long the UE should remain in the "on state" (in the activation time) after receiving the PDCCH. When this timer is turned on, the UE remains in the "on state", which can extend the UE's activation time to another period in the off-duration. The DRX retransmission timer indicates the maximum number of consecutive PDCCH subframes that the UE should remain active after the first available retransmission time to wait for incoming retransmissions (or send retransmissions). The DRX cycle includes a short DRX cycle and a long DRX cycle. The short DRX cycle can be implemented within the DRX cycle (off-duration) of the long DRX cycle. The DRX short cycle timer indicates the number of consecutive subframes that the UE will follow the short DRX cycle after the DRX inactivity timer expires.

[0090] Figure 1 An example of multiple DRX groups is shown. Figure 1 In the embodiment, for example, a primary DRX group (i.e., P-DRX) associated with a first frequency FR1 and a secondary DRX group (i.e., S-DRX) associated with a second frequency FR2 are shown as examples of multiple DRX groups. drx-onDurationTimer1 and drx-InactivityTimer1 are shown as examples of DRX timers for P-DRX, and drx-onDurationTimer2 and drx-InactivityTimer2 are shown as examples of DRX timers for S-DRX. drx-onDurationTimer1 and drx-onDurationTimer2 may be, for example, the above-mentioned drx-onDurationTimer, and drx-InactivityTimer1 and drx-InactivityTimer2 may be, for example, the above-mentioned drx-InactivityTimer. In other embodiments, P-DRX may be associated with FR2, and S-DRX may be associated with FR1, or P-DRX and S-DRX may be associated with the same FR (e.g., FR1 or FR2).

[0091] like Figure 1As shown, for example, the PDCCH for one or more cells (e.g., one or more serving cells or one or more activated cells) in P-DRX can be monitored by the UE during the activation time of P-DRX, such as when drx-onDurationTimer1 (and / or drx-InactivityTimer1) is running, and the UE can stop monitoring the PDCCH outside the activation time of P-DRX to save power. Similarly, in Figure 1 In the present invention, the PDCCH for one or more cells (e.g., one or more serving cells or one or more cells being activated) in S-DRX can be monitored by the UE during the activation time of S-DRX, for example, when drx-onDurationTimer2 (and / or drx-InactivityTimer2) is running, and the UE can stop monitoring the PDCCH outside the activation time of S-DRX to save power.

[0092] Figure 2 is an example of a CSI report resource. Figure 2 In the figure, P-DRX and S-DRX are shown as examples of multiple DRX groups, Cell1 and Cell2 are shown as examples of cells in P-DRX, and Cell3 and Cell4 are shown as examples of cells in S-DRX. In P-DRX, at least one cell may be configured with CSI reporting resources, and at least one cell with CSI reporting resources may be a primary cell (PCell) or a primary secondary cell (PSCell). In addition, in S-DRX, cells such as secondary cells (SCells) may also be configured with CSI reporting resources, and in this case, the SCell may be a PUCCH SCell. If no cell in S-DRX is configured with CSI reporting resources, the CSI for one or more cells in S-DRX may be reported through the CSI reporting resources on the PCell. Figure 2 In the figure, PUCCH is shown as an example of a CSI reporting resource for a UE to report CSI, and it can be understood that the CSI reporting resource may also include a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) and / or other radio resources.

[0093] Further, for example, one or more long DRX cycles and one or more short DRX cycles that can be associated with drx-ShortCycleTimer can be configured for multiple DRX groups. For example, the lengths of the long DRX cycle and the short DRX cycle can be configured to be common to the above-mentioned FR1 associated with P-DRX and the above-mentioned FR2 associated with S-DRX. Therefore, for example, in the case of configuring multiple DRX groups and long / short DRX cycles, different activity modes can exist on the frequency of P-DRX and the frequency of S-DRX. For example, a cell in S-DRX may still follow the short DRX cycle, while a cell in P-DRX has fallen back to the long DRX cycle.

[0094] Figure 3 An example method 300 for CSI reporting in an embodiment is illustrated, which may be performed in an apparatus such as a UE or at least a portion of a UE.

[0095] like Figure 3As shown, the example method 300 may include a step 310 of receiving DRX configuration information for configuring a plurality of DRX groups. For example, in step 310, the DRX configuration information may be included in a higher layer message (e.g., a medium access control (MAC) message or a radio resource control (RRC) message). The plurality of DRX groups may include a first DRX group having a first cell configured with a CSI reporting resource. In addition, the example method 300 may include a step 320 of determining at least one DRX group in an activation time from the plurality of DRX groups, and a step 330 of reporting CSI through the CSI reporting resource based on the DRX configuration information and the activation time. For example, if at least one DRX group in the activation time determined in step 320 includes a first DRX group, then CSI for one or more cells in the first DRX group (e.g., one or more serving cells, or one or more cells being activated) may be reported in step 330 through the CSI reporting resources of the first cell; if at least one DRX group in the activation time determined in step 320 includes a second DRX different from the first DRX, then CSI for one or more cells in the second DRX group (e.g., one or more serving cells, or one or more cells being activated) may be reported in step 330 through the CSI reporting resources of the first cell, even if at least one group in the activation time does not include the first DRX group having a first cell providing CSI reporting resources. If the serving cell of the S-DRX for which the CSI report is intended is during the activation time, the CSI is reported via the first cell even if the CSI reporting resources (opportunities) are not at the activation time. In another embodiment, if the plurality of DRX groups further include another DRX group having a second cell providing CSI reporting resources for the DRX group in addition to the first cell in the first DRX group, then according to the DRX configuration information and at least one DRX group in the activation time determined in step 320, in step 330, for example, the CSI reporting resources of the first cell may be used to report CSI for one or more cells (e.g., one or more serving cells, or one or more cells being activated) in the first DRX group when the first DRX group belongs to at least one DRX group in the activation time, or may be used to report CSI for one or more cells (e.g., one or more serving cells, or one or more cells being activated) in another DRX group that is different from the first DRX group but belongs to at least one DRX group in the activation time (even if the at least one DRX group in the activation time does not include the first DRX group), etc. More examples and details will be given below.

[0096] Combination Figure 1 or Figure 2In the example in step 310, it can be determined that multiple DRX groups are configured and the cell in P-DRX (e.g., PCell in P-DRX) is configured to provide CSI reporting resources, such as PUCCH or PUSCH. For example, in the case where S-DRX is not configured with CSI reporting resources, CSI for one or more cells in at least one of P-DRX and S-DRX (e.g., one or more serving cells, or one or more cells being activated) can be reported through the CSI reporting resources of the cell of P-DRX. The first cell can be, for example, a PCell or a PScell.

[0097] In step 320, one or more DRX groups in the activation time may be determined. If at least one DRX group is in the activation time, then in step 330, the UE reports CSI via the CSI reporting resource on the first cell. The CSI may be measured, for example, in step 320 in any suitable manner.

[0098] For example, when the P-DRX including the first cell is not at the activation time and the S-DRX is at the activation time, the CSI for one or more cells in the S-DRX (e.g., one or more serving cells, or one or more cells being activated) may be reported via the CSI reporting resources on the first cell. For example, the CSI report on the cell may be independent of the activation time of the cell for which the CSI is reported on its CSI reporting resources, and may be dependent on the activation time of the cell for which the CSI is reported. Therefore, if the cell for which the CSI is reported is at the activation time, the CSI is reported for the cell regardless of whether the cell for which the CSI is reported on its CSI reporting resources is at the activation time. In other words, even if the P-DRX group is in the DRX cycle (i.e., the off duration), when the S-DRX group is at the activation time, the UE is able to report the CSI of the cells of the S-DRX group to the gNB via the CSI reporting resources configured in the P-DRX group. In this case, the CSI reporting resources have been configured by the gNB as a conventional method (e.g., a CSI configuration information element (IE) in an RRC message).

[0099] When both P-DRX and S-DRX are in the activation time, the CSI for one or more cells in P-DRX (e.g., one or more serving cells, or one or more cells being activated) and one or more cells in S-DRX (e.g., one or more serving cells, or one or more cells being activated) can be reported through the CSI reporting resources on the first cell.

[0100] If both P-DRX and S-DRX are not in the activation time, CSI may not be reported.

[0101] Therefore, PDCCH monitoring can be independent of the two DRX groups, but CSI reporting can depend on the activation time of the two DRX groups, so that for the DRX group configured with CSI reporting resources, the UE may not monitor PDCCH regardless of whether CSI reporting is performed. Therefore, the power consumption of the device can be reduced.

[0102] In one embodiment, the activation time of the first DRX group (or P-DRX) may include the activation time of at least one DRX group. The DRX group takes the above-mentioned P-DRX and S-DRX as examples. If S-DRX is in the activation time, then P-DRX may also be in the activation time.

[0103] For example, when P-DRX is at the activation time and S-DRX is not at the activation time, the CSI of one or more cells in P-DRX (e.g., one or more serving cells, or one or more cells being activated) can be reported through the CSI reporting resources on the first cell. In addition, when S-DRX is at the activation time, the CSI of one or more cells in both P-DRX and S-DRX (e.g., one or more serving cells, or one or more cells being activated) can be reported through the CSI reporting resources on the first cell.

[0104] In this embodiment, for example, the drx-ShortCycleTimer (e.g., as provided in 3GPP TS38.321) for the DRX group configured with CSI reporting resources may be unaffected, and the DRX group may maintain the short cycle when another DRX group is using the short cycle, or if at least one DRX group for which CSI is being reported is using the short cycle, then the CSI reporting is based on the short cycle.

[0105] In one embodiment, CSI of one or more cells (e.g., one or more serving cells, or one or more cells being activated) in at least one DRX group in the activation time may be reported in step 330. Taking the above-mentioned P-DRX and S-DRX as an example, the UE may report the CSI of the serving cell of the DRX group in the activation time through the CSI reporting resource.

[0106] For example, if P-DRX is not in the activation time and S-DRX is in the activation time, the UE may report the CSI for the serving cell (or one or more cells being activated) in S-DRX in the activation time through the CSI reporting resources on the first cell of P-DRX, and may not report the CSI for other cells. If S-DRX is not in the activation time and P-DRX is in the activation time, the UE may report the CSI for the serving cell (or one or more cells being activated) in P-DRX in the activation time through the CSI reporting resources on the first cell of P-DRX, and may not report the CSI of other cells. If P-DRX is not in the activation time, the CSI of the serving cell in P-DRX may not be reported, and if S-DRX is not in the activation time, the CSI of the serving cell in S-DRX may not be reported.

[0107] In this embodiment, the UE can report CSI of fewer cells and can use fewer CSI resources. The separate CSI reporting resources of the serving cells in the P-DRX group and the serving cells in the S-DRX group can be configured by the network entity. Power consumption can therefore be reduced.

[0108] In one embodiment, the multiple DRX groups may further include a second DRX group having a second cell configured with CSI reporting resources. In this case, step 330 may include: when at least one DRX group includes the first DRX group, reporting CSI for one or more cells in the first DRX group through the CSI reporting resources on the first cell, and the example method 300 may further include: when at least one DRX group includes the second DRX group, reporting CSI for one or more cells in the second DRX group through the CSI reporting resources on the second cell. Therefore, the CSI of one or more cells in the DRX group can be reported through the CSI reporting resources on the cells within its own group, so that the CSI report for the DRX group can be independent of the CSI report for another DRX group, and when the corresponding DRX group is in the activation time, the CSI for different DRX groups can be reported.

[0109] Figure 4An example method 400 for CSI reporting in an embodiment is shown, which may include the steps of the example method 300 and additional steps 410 and 420. The DRX group takes the above-mentioned P-DRX and S-DRX as examples. In step 410, it may be determined whether the multiple DRX groups also include a second DRX group having a second cell configured with CSI reporting resources. If there is no such second cell (the "N" branch in step 410), then step 330 may include reporting CSI for one or more cells (e.g., one or more serving cells, or one or more cells being activated) in at least one DRX group through the CSI reporting resources on the first cell. If the second cell of the second DRX group is configured with CSI reporting resources ("Y" branch in step 410), then step 330 may include: when at least one DRX group includes the first DRX group, reporting the CSI for one or more cells in the first DRX group through the CSI reporting resources on the first cell, and in step 420, when at least one DRX group in the activation time includes the second DRX group, the CSI of one or more cells in the second DRX group may be reported through the CSI reporting resources on the second cell.

[0110] For example, if the cells of the first DRX group (e.g., P-DRX) are configured with CSI reporting resources such as PUCCH and / or PUSCH resources, and the cells of the second DRX group (e.g., S-DRX) are configured with CSI reporting resources such as PUCCH and / or PUSCH resources, then the CSI reporting of P-DRX and S-DRX can work independently based on the activation time of P-DRX and S-DRX, respectively. If the second DRX group is not configured with CSI reporting resources (the "N" branch in step 410), then step 330 may include CSI reporting for P-DRX, and S-DRX can be on the same CSI reporting resources on the cell of P-DRX. It should be understood that the steps of method 400 are not limited to Figure 4 For example, step 410 may also be performed before step 320.

[0111] For example, the CSI of one or more cells in P-DRX may be reported through CSI reporting resources on a first cell (e.g., PCell), and / or the CSI of one or more cells in S-DRX may be reported through CSI reporting resources on a second cell (e.g., PUCCH SCell). For example, when P-DRX is not at an activation time and the CSI reporting resources do not include CSI reporting for a serving cell in S-DRX, CSI may not be reported.

[0112] In one embodiment, with the CSI mask configured, CSI may be reported if the DRX OnDuration timer for at least one DRX group is running. Figure 5 Another example of multiple DRX groups is shown. Figure 5 As shown, for example, P-DRX can be in a long DRX cycle and S-DRX can be in a short DRX cycle. For example, in the case where the CSI mask is configured, when drx-onDurationTimer2 is running and drx-onDurationTimer1 is not running, if drx-onDurationTimer2 is running, then CSI can be reported through the CSI reporting resource.

[0113] For example, in the case where S-DRX is not configured with CSI reporting resources and a CSI mask is configured, if the drx-onDurationTimer2 of S-DRX is running, then the CSI for one or more cells in S-DRX (e.g., the serving cell or the cell being activated) can be reported through the CSI reporting resources on the first cell of P-DRX. The CSI reporting resources have been configured by higher-layer signaling (e.g., MAC or RRC message), and the CSI reporting resources are restricted within the DRX cycle (i.e., the off duration), which may result in the UE being unable to report when it is not in the activation time. However, the UE of this embodiment is configured to report the CSI in the CSI reporting resources during the DRX cycle if the cells of another DRX group that is the subject of the CSI report are in the activation time. The CSI report is for the cells that are in the activation time, so the UE is measuring these cells anyway. Figure 5 In the example shown, when drx-onDurationTimer1 is running, CSI of one or more cells in P-DRX may be reported, and when drx-onDurationTimer2 is running, CSI of one or more cells in S-DRX may be reported. In addition, for example, when drx-onDurationTimer1 is not running and drx-onDurationTimer2 is running, CSI of one or more cells in S-DRX may be reported through CSI reporting resources on the first cell of P-DRX. In addition, for example, when drx-onDurationTimer2 is not running, CSI of one or more cells in S-DRX may not be reported.

[0114] In this example embodiment, when the drx-onDurationTimer of the DRX group with cells configured with CSI reporting resources is not running, such as in long DRX and when CSI-mask is configured, CSI of the DRX group without CSI reporting resources may be reported. For example, in the case where the CSI mask (CSI-mask) is set by the upper layer but the DRX group does not run the drx-onDurationTimer, the CSI for the DRX group may not be reported.

[0115] In one embodiment, the example method may further include: receiving a configuration (e.g., an RRC configuration) regarding CSI reporting for one or more cells in a plurality of DRX groups, and reporting CSI for one or more cells in the plurality of DRX groups according to the configuration. For example, the UE may report CSI for a serving cell in an activation time or for a serving cell according to, for example, an RRC configuration, and regardless of the activation time in a given DRX group.

[0116] In one embodiment, the first DRX group may correspond to the first timing advance group. A timing advance group (TAG) may be configured to correspond to a DRX group. For example, a primary TAG (PTAG) may be configured for a cell associated with P-DRX, and a secondary TAG (STAG) may be configured for a cell associated with S-DRX.

[0117] In various embodiments, CSI of one or more cells in the activation time is reported. For example, CSI of one or more cells in the activation time may be reported, and CSI of one or more cells not in the activation time may not be reported.

[0118] In various embodiments, CSI of one or more cells being activated is reported. For example, CSI for one or more cells being activated may be reported, and CSI for one or more cells not being activated may not be reported.

[0119] Figure 6 An example method 600 for a CSI reporting procedure in an embodiment is illustrated, which may be performed in an apparatus such as a BS or at least a portion of a BS to cooperate with the example method 300 or 400 .

[0120] like Figure 6As shown, the example method 600 may include a step 610 of sending DRX configuration information for configuring a plurality of DRX groups. The DRX configuration information may be included in a higher layer message (e.g., a MAC or RRC message). The plurality of DRX groups include a first DRX group having a first cell configured with CSI reporting resources. The example method 600 may include a step 620 of determining at least one DRX group in an activation time from the plurality of DRX groups and a step 630 of receiving CSI through the CSI reporting resources on the first cell based on the DRX configuration information and the activation time.

[0121] Example method 600 may be performed, for example, to cooperate with example method 300 or 400. Thus, various features and aspects described above with respect to example method 300 or 400 may also be applied to or included in or combined with example method 600.

[0122] For example, in the example method 600, the activation time of the first DRX group may include the activation time of at least one DRX group.

[0123] For example, in the example method 600, CSI of one or more cells in at least one DRX group may be received.

[0124] For example, in example method 600, in a case where multiple DRX groups may further include a second DRX group having a second cell configured with CSI reporting resources, when at least one DRX group includes a first DRX group, CSI for one or more cells in the first DRX group may be received via the CSI reporting resources on the first cell, and method 600 may further include that when at least one DRX group includes a second DRX group, CSI for one or more cells in the second DRX group may be received via the CSI reporting resources of the second DRX group.

[0125] For example, in the example method 600, in case the CSI mask is configured, if the DRX OnDuration timer for at least one DRX group is running, then CSI may be received.

[0126] In some embodiments, the method 600 may further include sending a configuration of CSI reporting for one or more cells in the plurality of DRX groups, and receiving CSI for the one or more cells in the plurality of DRX groups according to the configuration.

[0127] For example, in the example method 600, the first DRX group may correspond to the first timing advance group.

[0128] For example, in the example method 600, CSI of one or more cells in an activation time may be received.

[0129] For example, in example method 600, CSI for one or more cells being activated may be received.

[0130] In the above exemplary embodiment, two DRX groups P-DRX and S-DRX may be taken as an example, and it can be understood that the exemplary embodiment may work in the case where more DRX groups are configured. When multiple DRX groups are configured, the availability of the UE reporting CSI information to the BS may be guaranteed. It should be understood that UE may refer to an apparatus such as a UE or at least a part of a UE, and BS may refer to an apparatus such as a BS or at least a part of a BS.

[0131] Figure 7 Another example method of CSI reporting in an embodiment is illustrated.

[0132] The gNB configures two or more DRX groups (710) for one or more UEs covered by the gNB.

[0133] The gNB sends a higher layer message (e.g., RRC) including a DRX configuration information (also referred to herein as DRX-Config) element for configuring two or more DRX groups to the UE (720). The DRX configuration information element includes at least one of a drx-onDurationTimer, a drx-InactivityTimer, a DRX retransmission timer downlink (i.e., drx-RetransmissionTimerDL), a DRX retransmission timer uplink (i.e., drx-RetransmissionTimerUL), a ra-ContentionResolutionTimer, a drx-LongCycleStartOffset, or a drx-ShortCycle parameter for a first DRX group and a second DRX group.

[0134] The UE's media access control (MAC) entity may be configured via an RRC message with a DRX function that controls the UE's PDCCH monitoring activity for the MAC entity. When using DRX operation, the UE's MAC entity shall also monitor the PDCCH according to the above embodiments. When the UE is in the RRC_CONNECTED state and if DRX is configured for an activated serving cell, the UE's MAC entity may use the above embodiments and Figures 1 to 6 One of the explained DRX operations is to discontinuously monitor the search space (730) for decoding the PDCCH.

[0135] In an activation time of a configured DRX cycle, the UE may decode at least one DCI that has been transmitted via a PDCCH in at least one of the two or more DRX groups (740).

[0136] When the DRX cycles of two or more DRX groups are configured, if the DRX group is configured with PUSCH and / or PUCCH resources for CSI reporting of any serving cell in another DRX group, the activation time of the DRX group (e.g., the first DRX group) includes the time when the other DRX group (e.g., the second DRX group) is in the activation time. Therefore, the UE performs CSI reporting based on the configured activation times of the two or more DRX groups (750).

[0137] Step 750 may be performed based on the above embodiment, for example Figures 1 to 6 The explained embodiment.

[0138] As another embodiment, when two or more DRX groups are configured and if one DRX group includes PUCCH and / or PUSCH resources for CSI reporting, when the two or more DRX groups are not in the activation time, the MAC entity of the UE does not report CSI on the PUCCH and does not report the configured semi-persistent CSI on the PUSCH for the serving cells in the DRX group.

[0139] As another embodiment, when two or more DRX groups are configured and if one DRX group includes PUCCH and / or PUSCH resources for CSI reporting, in the case where CSI reporting resources used for CSI reporting of a serving cell in another DRX group of the two or more DRX groups do not include CSI reporting, the MAC entity of the UE does not report CSI on PUCCH in any DRX group and does not report the configured semi-persistent CSI on PUSCH.

[0140] As another embodiment, in the current symbol n, if, when evaluating all DRX activation time conditions, the other DRX group will not be in the activation time taking into account the grant / allocation scheduled for the serving cell in another DRX group 4 ms before symbol n, the received DRX command MAC CE / long DRX command MAC CE and the sent scheduling request, then the UE does not report CSI on the PUCCH in any DRX group and does not report the configured semi-persistent CSI on the PUSCH.

[0141] As another embodiment, if the CSI mask (csi-Mask) is set by upper layers, when evaluating all configured DRX activation time conditions, if the drx-onDurationTimer will not run in any DRX group taking into account the grant / allocation scheduled for the serving cell in any DRX group before 4 ms before codeword n, and the received DRX command MAC CE / long DRX command MAC CE, then the UE does not report CSI on the PUCCH in the current codeword n.

[0142] It should be understood that although the above examples are described in the context of an NR system, the method may be applied to other communication systems such as an LTE system.
