AI Technical Summary
Existing wireless communication systems have problems of inefficiency and waste of resources in beam measurement and prediction, especially in frequent changing environments, which are difficult to accurately predict beam measurement values.
By transmitting configuration information between the user equipment (UE) and the network node, the UE is instructed to predict measurements of CMR in the set of channel measurement resources (CMRs) and include the predicted measurements in the CSI report. The configuration information also indicates the association between the CMR subset and the corresponding time domain measurement timing, and beam management prediction is performed using the AI/ML model.
It improves the performance and accuracy of beam measurement prediction, reduces the power consumption of UE and the waste of network resources, and enhances the adaptability of wireless communication systems in frequently changing environments.

Abstract
Description
[0001] Public domain
[0002] Aspects of the present disclosure relate generally to wireless communications and to techniques and apparatus associated with signaling for random measurement beam patterns for beam measurement prediction. Background Art
[0003] Wireless communication systems are widely deployed to provide various telecommunication services such as telephony, video, data, messaging, and broadcasting. Typical wireless communication systems may employ multiple access technologies that can support communication with multiple users by sharing available system resources (e.g., bandwidth, transmit power, etc.). Examples of such multiple access technologies include code division multiple access (CDMA) systems, time division multiple access (TDMA) systems, frequency division multiple access (FDMA) systems, orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) systems, single carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA) systems, time division synchronous code division multiple access (TD-SCDMA) systems, and long term evolution (LTE). LTE / LTE-Advanced is a set of enhancements to the Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) mobile standard promulgated by the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP).
[0004] A wireless network may include one or more network nodes that support communications for wireless communication devices, such as user equipment (UE) or multiple UEs. A UE may communicate with a network node via downlink communications and uplink communications. A "downlink" (or "DL") refers to a communication link from a network node to a UE, while an "uplink" (or "UL") refers to a communication link from a UE to a network node. Some wireless networks may support device-to-device communications, such as via a local link (e.g., a side link (SL)), a wireless local area network (WLAN) link, and / or a wireless personal area network (WPAN) link, etc.
[0005] The above multiple access technologies have been adopted in various telecommunication standards to provide a common protocol that enables different UEs to communicate at a city, country, region, and / or global level. New Radio (NR), which may be referred to as 5G, is an enhancement set to the LTE mobile standard promulgated by 3GPP. NR is designed to better support mobile broadband Internet access by using orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) (CP-OFDM) with a cyclic prefix (CP) on the downlink, using CP-OFDM and / or single carrier frequency division multiplexing (SC-FDM) (also known as discrete Fourier transform spread OFDM (DFT-s-OFDM) on the uplink, and supporting beamforming, multiple input multiple output (MIMO) antenna technology and carrier aggregation to improve spectrum efficiency, reduce costs, improve services, utilize new spectrum, and better integrate with other open standards. As the demand for mobile broadband access continues to grow, further improvements to LTE, NR, and other radio access technologies are still useful.

[0033] Several aspects of telecommunication systems will now be presented with reference to various devices and techniques. These devices and techniques will be described in the following detailed description and illustrated in the accompanying drawings by various blocks, modules, components, circuits, steps, processes, algorithms, etc. (collectively referred to as "elements"). These elements can be implemented using hardware, software, or a combination thereof. Whether such elements are implemented as hardware or software depends on the specific application and the design constraints imposed on the overall system.
[0034] Although various aspects may be described herein using terminology generally associated with 5G or new radio (NR) radio access technology (RAT), various aspects of the present disclosure may be applied to other RATs, such as 3G RAT, 4G RAT, and / or RATs beyond 5G (e.g., 6G).
[0035] Figure 1 1 is a diagram illustrating an example of a wireless network 100 according to the present disclosure. The wireless network 100 may be a 5G (e.g., NR) network and / or a 4G (e.g., Long Term Evolution (LTE)) network, etc. or may include elements thereof. The wireless network 100 may include one or more network nodes 110 (shown as network node 110a, network node 110b, network node 110c, and network node 110d), a user equipment (UE) 120 or multiple UEs 120 (shown as UE 120a, UE 120b, UE 120c, UE 120d, and UE 120e), and / or other entities. The network node 110 is a network node that communicates with the UE 120. As shown in the figure, the network node 110 may include one or more network nodes. For example, the network node 110 may be an aggregated network node, which means that the aggregated network node is configured to utilize a radio protocol stack that is physically or logically integrated within a single radio access network (RAN) node (e.g., within a single device or unit). As another example, the network node 110 may be a disaggregated network node (sometimes referred to as a disaggregated base station), meaning that the network node 110 is configured to utilize a protocol stack that is physically or logically distributed between two or more nodes, such as one or more central units (CUs), one or more distributed units (DUs), or one or more radio units (RUs).
[0036] In some examples, the network node 110 is or includes a network node that communicates with the UE 120 via a radio access link, such as an RU. In some examples, the network node 110 is or includes a network node that communicates with other network nodes 110 via a forward link or a mid-haul link, such as a DU. In some examples, the network node 110 is or includes a network node that communicates with other network nodes 110 via a mid-haul link or communicates with the core network via a backhaul link, such as a CU. In some examples, the network node 110 (such as an aggregated network node 110 or a decomposed network node 110) may include multiple network nodes, such as one or more RUs, one or more CUs, and / or one or more DUs. The network node 110 may include, for example, an NR base station, an LTE base station, a B node, an eNB (e.g., in 4G), a gNB (e.g., in 5G), an access point, a transmission reception point (TRP), a DU, a RU, a CU, a mobility element of a network, a core network node, a network element, a network equipment, a RAN node, or a combination thereof. In some examples, network nodes 110 may be interconnected to each other or to one or more other network nodes 110 in wireless network 100 via various types of fronthaul, midhaul, and / or backhaul interfaces (such as direct physical connections, air interfaces, or virtual networks) using any suitable transport network.
[0037] In some examples, the network node 110 may provide communication coverage for a particular geographic area. In the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), the term "cell" may refer to the coverage area of a wireless node 110 and / or a network node subsystem serving the coverage area, depending on the context in which the term is used. The network node 110 may provide communication coverage for a macro cell, a pico cell, a femto cell, and / or another type of cell. A macro cell may cover a relatively large geographic area (e.g., a radius of several thousand meters) and may allow unrestricted access by a UE 120 with a service subscription. A pico cell may cover a relatively small geographic area and may allow unrestricted access by a UE 120 with a service subscription. A femto cell may cover a relatively small geographic area (e.g., a residence) and may allow restricted access by a UE 120 associated with the femto cell (e.g., a UE 120 in a closed subscriber group (CSG)). A network node 110 for a macro cell may be referred to as a macro network node. The network node 110 for a pico cell may be referred to as a pico network node. The network node 110 for a femto cell may be referred to as a femto network node or a home network node. Figure 1In the example shown in , network node 110a may be a macro network node for macro cell 102a, network node 110b may be a pico network node for pico cell 102b, and network node 110c may be a femto network node for femto cell 102c. The network node may support one or more (e.g., three) cells. In some examples, the cell may not necessarily be stationary, and the geographic area of the cell may move depending on the location of the mobile network node 110 (e.g., a mobile network node).
[0038] In some aspects, the term "base station" or "network node" may refer to a clustered base station, a decomposed base station, an integrated access and backhaul (IAB) node, a relay node, or one or more components thereof. For example, in some aspects, a "base station" or "network node" may refer to a CU, a DU, a RU, a near real-time (near RT) RAN intelligent controller (RIC) or a non-real-time (non-RT) RIC, or a combination thereof. In some aspects, the term "base station" or "network node" may refer to a device configured to perform one or more functions (such as those described herein in conjunction with network node 110). In some aspects, the term "base station" or "network node" may refer to multiple devices configured to perform one or more functions. For example, in some distributed systems, each of several different devices (which may be located in the same geographic location or in different geographic locations) may be configured to perform at least a portion of a function, or to repeat the execution of at least a portion of the function, and the term "base station" or "network node" may refer to any one or more of these different devices. In some aspects, the term "base station" or "network node" may refer to one or more virtual base stations or one or more virtual base station functions. For example, in some aspects, two or more base station functions may be instantiated on a single device. In some aspects, the term "base station" or "network node" may refer to one of the base station functions but not the other. In this way, a single device may include more than one base station.
[0039] The wireless network 100 may include one or more relay stations. A relay station is a network node that can receive transmissions of data from an upstream node (e.g., a network node 110 or a UE 120) and send transmissions of the data to a downstream node (e.g., a UE 120 or a network node 110). A relay station may be a UE 120 that is capable of relaying transmissions for other UEs 120. Figure 1 In the example shown in , a network node 110d (e.g., a relay network node) may communicate with a network node 110a (e.g., a macro network node) and a UE 120d to facilitate communication between the network node 110a and the UE 120d. A network node 110 that relays communications may be referred to as a relay station, a relay base station, a relay network node, a relay node, a relay, or the like.
[0040] The wireless network 100 may be a heterogeneous network including different types of network nodes 110, such as macro network nodes, pico network nodes, femto network nodes, or relay network nodes, etc. These different types of network nodes 110 may have different transmit power levels, different coverage areas, and / or different impacts on interference in the wireless network 100. For example, a macro network node may have a high transmit power level (e.g., 5 to 40 Watts), while a pico network node, a femto network node, and a relay network node may have a lower transmit power level (e.g., 0.1 to 2 Watts).
[0041] The network controller 130 may be coupled or in communication with a set of network nodes 110 and may provide coordination and control of these network nodes 110. The network controller 130 may communicate with the network nodes 110 via a backhaul communication link or a mid-range communication link. The network nodes 110 may communicate with each other directly or indirectly via a wireless or wired backhaul communication link. In some aspects, the network controller 130 may be a CU or a core network device, or may include a CU or a core network device.
[0042] Each UE 120 may be dispersed throughout the wireless network 100, and each UE 120 may be stationary or mobile. UE 120 may include, for example, an access terminal, a terminal, a mobile station, and / or a subscriber unit. UE 120 may be a cellular phone (e.g., a smart phone), a personal digital assistant (PDA), a wireless modem, a wireless communication device, a handheld device, a laptop computer, a cordless phone, a wireless local loop (WLL) station, a tablet device, a camera, a gaming device, a netbook, a smartbook, an ultrabook, a medical device, a biometric device, a wearable device (e.g., a smart watch, smart clothing, smart glasses, a smart wristband, smart jewelry (e.g., a smart ring or a smart bracelet)), an entertainment device (e.g., a music device, a video device, and / or a satellite radio), an in-vehicle component or sensor, a smart meter / sensor, an industrial manufacturing equipment, a global positioning system device, a UE function of a network node, and / or any other suitable device configured to communicate via a wireless or wired medium.
[0043] Some UE 120 may be considered as machine type communication (MTC) UE, or evolved or enhanced machine type communication (eMTC) UE. MTC UE and / or eMTC UE may include, for example, a robot, a drone, a remote device, a sensor, a meter, a monitor and / or a location tag, which may communicate with a network node, another device (e.g., a remote device), or some other entity. Some UE 120 may be considered as an Internet of Things (IoT) device, and / or may be implemented as a NB-IoT (narrowband IoT) device. Some UE 120 may be considered as client equipment. UE 120 may be included inside a housing that houses components of UE 120, such as a processor component and / or a memory component. In some examples, the processor component and the memory component may be coupled together. For example, a processor component (e.g., one or more processors) and a memory component (e.g., a memory) may be operationally coupled, communicatively coupled, electronically coupled, and / or electrically coupled.
[0044] In general, any number of wireless networks 100 may be deployed in a given geographic area. Each wireless network 100 may support a specific RAT and may operate on one or more frequencies. RAT may be referred to as a radio technology, an air interface, etc. Frequency may be referred to as a carrier, a frequency channel, etc. Each frequency may support a single RAT in a given geographic area to avoid interference between wireless networks of different RATs. In some cases, NR or 5G RAT networks may be deployed.
[0045] In some examples, two or more UEs 120 (e.g., shown as UE 120a and UE 120e) may communicate directly (e.g., without using network node 110 as an intermediary to communicate with each other) using one or more sidelink channels. For example, UE 120 may communicate using peer-to-peer (P2P) communication, device-to-device (D2D) communication, vehicle-to-everything (V2X) protocols (e.g., which may include vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) protocols, vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) protocols, or vehicle-to-pedestrian (V2P) protocols), and / or mesh networks. In such examples, UE 120 may perform scheduling operations, resource selection operations, and / or other operations described elsewhere herein as being performed by network node 110.
[0046] Beamforming (which may also be referred to as spatial filtering, directional transmission, or directional reception) is a signal processing technique that may be used at a transmitting device or a receiving device (e.g., a network node 110 and / or a UE 120) to shape or steer an antenna beam (e.g., a transmit beam, a receive beam) along a spatial path between the transmitting device and the receiving device. Beamforming may be achieved by combining signals communicated via antenna elements of an antenna array so that some signals propagating at a particular orientation relative to the antenna array experience constructive interference, while other signals experience destructive interference. Adjustments to signals communicated via antenna elements may include the transmitting device or the receiving device applying an amplitude offset, a phase offset, or both to signals carried via antenna elements associated with the device. Adjustments associated with each antenna element may be defined by a set of beamforming weights associated with a particular orientation (e.g., relative to the antenna array of the transmitting device or the receiving device, or relative to some other orientation).
[0047] The network node 110 or the UE 120 may use beam sweeping techniques as part of a beamforming operation. For example, the network node 110 (e.g., a base station or RU) may use multiple antennas or antenna arrays (e.g., antenna panels) to perform beamforming operations for directional communication with the UE 120. Some signals (e.g., synchronization signals, reference signals, beam selection signals, or other control signals) may be transmitted multiple times by the network node 110 along different directions. For example, the network node 110 may transmit signals according to different beamforming weight sets associated with different transmission directions. Transmissions along different beam directions may be used (e.g., by a transmitting device (such as the network node 110) or a receiving device (such as the UE 120)) to identify a beam direction used by the network node 110 for later transmission or reception.
[0048] The devices of the wireless network 100 may communicate using an electromagnetic spectrum that may be subdivided into various categories, bands, channels, etc., according to frequency or wavelength. For example, each device of the wireless network 100 may communicate using one or more operating bands. In 5G NR, two initial operating bands have been identified as frequency ranges designated FR1 (410 MHz–7.125 GHz) and FR2 (24.25 GHz–52.6 GHz). It should be understood that although a portion of FR1 is greater than 6 GHz, FR1 is often (interchangeably) referred to as a “sub-6 GHz” band in various documents and articles. Similar naming issues sometimes arise with respect to FR2, which is often (interchangeably) referred to as a “millimeter wave” band in various documents and articles, although it is different from the extremely high frequency (EHF) band (30 GHz–300 GHz) identified as a “millimeter wave” band by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
[0049] Frequencies between FR1 and FR2 are generally referred to as mid-band frequencies. Recent 5G NR research has identified the operating bands of these mid-band frequencies as frequency range designation FR3 (7.125GHz–24.25GHz). The frequency bands falling within FR3 can inherit FR1 characteristics and / or FR2 characteristics, and thus the features of FR1 and / or FR2 can be effectively extended to mid-band frequencies. Additionally, higher frequency bands are currently being explored to extend 5G NR operations to above 52.6GHz. For example, three higher operating bands have been identified as frequency range designations FR4a or FR4-1 (52.6GHz–71GHz), FR4 (52.6GHz–114.25GHz), and FR5 (114.25GHz–300GHz). Each of these higher frequency bands falls within the EHF band.
[0050] With the above examples in mind, unless otherwise specifically stated, it should be understood that, if used herein, the term "sub-6 GHz" or the like may broadly refer to frequencies that may be less than 6 GHz, may be within FR1, or may include mid-band frequencies. In addition, unless otherwise specifically stated, it should be understood that, if used herein, the term "millimeter wave" or the like may broadly refer to frequencies that may include mid-band frequencies, may be within FR2, FR4, FR4-a or FR4-1, and / or FR5, or may be within the EHF band. It is contemplated that the frequencies included in these operating bands (e.g., FR1, FR2, FR3, FR4, FR4-a, FR4-1, and / or FR5) may be modified, and the techniques described herein are applicable to those modified frequency ranges.
[0051] In some aspects, the UE 120 may include a communication manager 140. As described in more detail elsewhere herein, the communication manager 140 may: receive configuration information from a network node, the configuration information indicating one or more channel measurement resource (CMR) sets associated with a channel state information (CSI) report, wherein the configuration information indicates that the UE is to predict measurements of one or more CMRs from the one or more CMR sets, and wherein the configuration information indicates an association between a subset of CMRs from the one or more CMR sets and a corresponding time domain measurement opportunity; measure a subset of CMRs from the subset of CMRs indicated by the association as being associated with the time domain measurement opportunity at a time domain measurement opportunity in the corresponding time domain measurement opportunities; and transmit the CSI report to the network node, wherein the CSI report includes predicted measurement values associated with the one or more CMRs, and wherein the predicted measurement values are based at least in part on the measurements of the subset of CMRs. Additionally or alternatively, the communication manager 140 may perform one or more other operations described herein.
[0052] In some aspects, the network node 110 may include a communication manager 150. As described in more detail elsewhere herein, the communication manager 150 may: transmit configuration information associated with a UE, the configuration information indicating one or more CMR sets associated with a CSI report, wherein the configuration information indicates that the UE is to predict measurements of one or more CMRs from the one or more CMR sets, and wherein the configuration information indicates an association between a subset of CMRs from the one or more CMR sets and a corresponding time domain measurement opportunity; and receive the CSI report, wherein the CSI report includes predicted measurement values associated with the one or more CMRs, and wherein the predicted measurement values are based at least in part on measurements of a subset of CMRs from the CMR subsets. Additionally or alternatively, the communication manager 150 may perform one or more other operations described herein.
[0053] As indicated above, Figure 1 are provided as examples. Other examples may differ from those described in Figure 1 Examples described.
[0054] Figure 2 1 is a diagram illustrating an example 200 in which a network node 110 is in communication with a UE 120 in a wireless network 100 according to the present disclosure. The network node 110 may be equipped with a set of antennas 234a to 234t, such as T antennas (T≥1). The UE 120 may be equipped with a set of antennas 252a to 252r, such as R antennas (R≥1). The network node 110 of example 200 includes one or more radio frequency components, such as an antenna 234 and a modem 254. In some examples, the network node 110 may include an interface, a communication component, or another component that facilitates communication with the UE 120 or another network node. Some network nodes 110 may not include a radio frequency component that facilitates direct communication with the UE 120, such as one or more CUs, or one or more DUs.
[0055] At the network node 110, a transmit processor 220 may receive data intended for a UE 120 (or a group of UEs 120) from a data source 212. The transmit processor 220 may select one or more modulation and coding schemes (MCS) for the UE 120 based at least in part on one or more channel quality indicators (CQIs) received from the UE 120. The network node 110 may process (e.g., encode and modulate) the data for the UE 120 based at least in part on the MCS(s) selected for the UE 120, and may provide data symbols to the UE 120. The transmit processor 220 may process system information (e.g., for semi-static resource partitioning information (SRPI)) and control information (e.g., CQI requests, grants, and / or upper layer signaling), and provide overhead symbols and control symbols. The transmit processor 220 may generate reference symbols for reference signals (e.g., a cell-specific reference signal (CRS) or a demodulation reference signal (DMRS)) and synchronization signals (e.g., a primary synchronization signal (PSS) or a secondary synchronization signal (SSS)). A transmit (TX) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) processor 230 may perform spatial processing (e.g., precoding) on data symbols, control symbols, overhead symbols, and / or reference symbols, where applicable, and may provide a set of output symbol streams (e.g., T output symbol streams) to a corresponding set of modems 232 (e.g., T modulators) (shown as modems 232a through 232t). For example, each output symbol stream may be provided to a modulator component (shown as MOD) of a modem 232. Each modem 232 may process a corresponding output symbol stream (e.g., for OFDM) using a corresponding modulator component to obtain an output sample stream. Each modem 232 may further process (e.g., convert to analog, amplify, filter, and / or upconvert) the output sample stream using a corresponding modulator component to obtain a downlink signal. Modems 232a through 232t may transmit a set of downlink signals (e.g., T downlink signals) via a corresponding set of antennas 234 (e.g., T antennas) (shown as antennas 234a through 234t).
[0056] At the UE 120, a set of antennas 252 (shown as antennas 252a to 252r) may receive downlink signals from the network node 110 and / or other network nodes 110 and may provide a set of received signals (e.g., R received signals) to a set of modems 254 (e.g., R modems) (shown as modems 254a to 254r). For example, each received signal may be provided to a demodulator component (shown as DEMOD) of the modem 254. Each modem 254 may use a corresponding demodulator component to condition (e.g., filter, amplify, downconvert, and / or digitize) the received signal to obtain input samples. Each modem 254 may use a demodulator component to further process the input samples (e.g., for OFDM) to obtain received symbols. A MIMO detector 256 may obtain received symbols from the modem 254, may perform MIMO detection on the received symbols where applicable, and may provide detected symbols. The receive processor 258 may process (e.g., demodulate and decode) the detected symbols, may provide decoded data for the UE 120 to a data sink 260, and may provide decoded control information and system information to a controller / processor 280. In some examples, one or more components of the UE 120 may be included in a housing 284.
[0057] The network controller 130 may include a communication unit 294, a controller / processor 290, and a memory 292. The network controller 130 may include, for example, one or more devices in a core network. The network controller 130 may communicate with the network node 110 via the communication unit 294.
[0058] One or more antennas (e.g., antennas 234a to 234t and / or antennas 252a to 252r) may include or be included in one or more antenna panels, one or more antenna groups, one or more sets of antenna elements, and / or one or more antenna arrays, etc. Antenna panels, antenna groups, sets of antenna elements, and / or antenna arrays may include one or more antenna elements (in a single housing or multiple housings), sets of coplanar antenna elements, sets of non-coplanar antenna elements, and / or coupled to one or more transmission and / or reception components (such as Figure 2 One or more antenna elements of one or more components).
[0059] On the uplink, at the UE 120, the transmit processor 264 may receive and process data from the data source 262 and control information from the controller / processor 280 (e.g., for reports including RSRP, RSSI, RSRQ, and / or CQI). The transmit processor 264 may generate reference symbols for one or more reference signals. The symbols from the transmit processor 264 may be precoded by the TX MIMO processor 266, where applicable, further processed by the modem 254 (e.g., for DFT-s-OFDM or CP-OFDM), and transmitted to the network node 110. In some examples, the modem 254 of the UE 120 may include a modulator and a demodulator. In some examples, the UE 120 includes a transceiver. The transceiver may include any combination of antenna(s) 252, modem(s) 254, MIMO detector 256, receive processor 258, transmit processor 264, and / or TX MIMO processor 266. The transceiver may be used by a processor (eg, controller / processor 280) and memory 282 to perform aspects of any of the methods described herein (eg, with reference to Figure 7-11 ).
[0060] At the network node 110, uplink signals from the UE 120 and / or other UEs may be received by the antenna 234, processed by the modem 232 (e.g., a demodulator component of the modem 232, shown as DEMOD), detected by the MIMO detector 236 where applicable, and further processed by the receive processor 238 to obtain decoded data and control information sent by the UE 120. The receive processor 238 may provide the decoded data to the data sink 239 and provide the decoded control information to the controller / processor 240. The network node 110 may include a communication unit 244 and may communicate with the network controller 130 via the communication unit 244. The network node 110 may include a scheduler 246 to schedule one or more UEs 120 for downlink communication and / or uplink communication. In some examples, the modem 232 of the network node 110 may include a modulator and a demodulator. In some examples, the network node 110 includes a transceiver. The transceiver may include any combination of antenna(s) 234, modem(s) 232, MIMO detector 236, receive processor 238, transmit processor 220, and / or TX MIMO processor 230. The transceiver may be used by a processor (e.g., controller / processor 240) and memory 242 to perform aspects of any of the methods described herein (e.g., with reference to Figure 7-11 ).
[0061] The controller / processor 240 of the network node 110, the controller / processor 280 of the UE 120, and / or Figure 2 Any other component(s) of the network node 110 may perform one or more techniques associated with signaling for a random measurement beam pattern for beam measurement prediction, as described in more detail elsewhere herein. For example, the controller / processor 240 of the network node 110, the controller / processor 280 of the UE 120, and / or Figure 2 Any other component(s) may perform or direct e.g. Figure 8 The process of 800 Fig. 9 900 and / or operations of other processes as described herein. Memory 242 and memory 282 may store data and program codes for network node 110 and UE 120, respectively. In some examples, memory 242 and / or memory 282 may include a non-transitory computer-readable medium storing one or more instructions (e.g., code and / or program code) for wireless communication. For example, the one or more instructions, when executed (e.g., directly, or after compilation, conversion, and / or interpretation) by one or more processors of network node 110 and / or UE 120, may cause the one or more processors, UE 120, and / or network node 110 to perform or direct, for example, Figure 8 The process of 800 Fig. 9 The process 900 of , and / or the operations of other processes described herein. In some examples, executing instructions may include running instructions, converting instructions, compiling instructions, and / or interpreting instructions, etc.
[0062] In some aspects, the UE 120 includes: means for receiving configuration information from a network node, the configuration information indicating one or more CMR sets associated with a CSI report, wherein the configuration information indicates that the UE is to predict measurements of one or more CMRs from the one or more CMR sets, and wherein the configuration information indicates an association between a subset of CMRs from the one or more CMR sets and a corresponding time domain measurement opportunity; means for measuring, at a time domain measurement opportunity in the corresponding time domain measurement opportunities, a subset of CMRs from the CMR subsets indicated by the association as being associated with the time domain measurement opportunity; and / or means for transmitting the CSI report to the network node, wherein the CSI report includes predicted measurement values associated with the one or more CMRs, and wherein the predicted measurement values are based at least in part on measurements of the subset of CMRs. Means for UE 120 to perform operations described herein may include, for example, one or more of communications manager 140, antenna 252, modem 254, MIMO detector 256, receive processor 258, transmit processor 264, TX MIMO processor 266, controller / processor 280, or memory 282.
[0063] In some aspects, the network node 110 includes: means for transmitting configuration information associated with a UE, the configuration information indicating one or more CMR sets associated with a CSI report, wherein the configuration information indicates that the UE is to predict measurements of one or more CMRs from the one or more CMR sets, and wherein the configuration information indicates an association between a subset of CMRs from the one or more CMR sets and a corresponding time domain measurement opportunity; and / or means for receiving the CSI report, wherein the CSI report includes predicted measurement values associated with the one or more CMRs, and wherein the predicted measurement values are based at least in part on measurements of a subset of CMRs from the CMR subsets. In some aspects, the means for the network node 110 to perform operations described herein may include, for example, one or more of the following: the communication manager 150, the transmit processor 220, the TX MIMO processor 230, the modem 232, the antenna 234, the MIMO detector 236, the receive processor 238, the controller / processor 240, the memory 242, or the scheduler 246.
[0064] although Figure 2 The blocks in the 200 and 210 are illustrated as different components, but the functions described above with respect to these blocks may be implemented with a single hardware, software, or combined component or a combination of various components. For example, the functions described with respect to the transmit processor 264, the receive processor 258, and / or the TX MIMO processor 266 may be performed by or under the control of the controller / processor 280.
[0065] As indicated above, Figure 2 are provided as examples. Other examples may differ from those described in Figure 2 Examples described.
[0066] The deployment of a communication system (such as a 5G NR system) may have various components or components arranged in a variety of ways. In a 5G NR system or network, a network node, a network entity, a mobility element of a network, a RAN node, a core network node, a network element, a base station, or network equipment may be implemented in a clustered or decomposed architecture. For example, a base station (such as a B node (NB), an evolved NB (eNB), an NR base station, a 5G NB, an access point (AP), a TRP, or a cellular cell, etc.), or one or more units (or one or more components) performing base station functionality may be implemented as a clustered base station (also referred to as a standalone base station or a monolithic base station) or a decomposed base station. A "network entity" or "network node" may refer to a decomposed base station or one or more units of a decomposed base station (such as one or more CUs, one or more DUs, one or more RUs, or a combination thereof).
[0067] A clustered base station (e.g., a clustered network node) may be configured to utilize a radio protocol stack that is physically or logically integrated within a single RAN node (e.g., within a single device or unit). A decomposed base station (e.g., a decomposed network node) may be configured to utilize a protocol stack that is physically or logically distributed between two or more units (such as one or more CUs, one or more DUs, or one or more RUs). In some examples, the CU may be implemented within a network node, and one or more DUs may be co-located with the CU, or alternatively, may be geographically or virtually distributed throughout one or more other network nodes. The DU may be implemented to communicate with one or more RUs. Each of the CU, DU, and RU may also be implemented as a virtual unit, such as a virtual central unit (VCU), a virtual distributed unit (VDU), or a virtual radio unit (VRU), etc.
[0068] Base station type operations or network designs may take into account the clustered nature of base station functionality. For example, a decomposed base station may be used in an IAB network, an open radio access network (O-RAN (such as a network configuration initiated by the O-RAN Alliance)) or a virtualized radio access network (vRAN, also known as a cloud radio access network (C-RAN)) to facilitate the scaling of a communication system by splitting base station functionality into one or more units that can be individually deployed. A decomposed base station may include functionality implemented across two or more units at various physical locations and functionality implemented for at least one unit that is virtually distributed, which may enable flexibility in network design. Individual units of a decomposed base station may be configured for wired or wireless communication with at least one other unit of the decomposed base station.
[0069] Figure 3 3 is a diagram illustrating an example decomposed base station architecture 300 according to the present disclosure. The decomposed base station architecture 300 may include a CU 310, which may communicate directly with a core network 320 via a backhaul link, or indirectly with the core network 320 through one or more decomposed control units (such as a near-RT RIC 325 via an E2 link, or a non-RTRIC 315 associated with a service management and orchestration (SMO) framework 305, or both). The CU 310 may communicate with one or more DUs 330 via corresponding mid-haul links (such as through an F1 interface). Each DU 330 may communicate with one or more RUs 340 via corresponding outbound links. Each RU 340 may communicate with one or more UEs 120 via corresponding radio frequency (RF) access links. In some implementations, a UE 120 may be served by multiple RUs 340 simultaneously.
[0070] Each of these units (including CU 310, DU 330, RU 340, and near-RT RIC 325, non-RT RIC 315, and SMO framework 305) may include one or more interfaces, or be coupled to one or more interfaces configured to receive or transmit signals, data, or information (collectively referred to as signals) via a wired or wireless transmission medium. Each of these units or an associated processor or controller that provides instructions to one or more communication interfaces of the corresponding unit may be configured to communicate with one or more of the other units via a transmission medium. In some examples, each of these units may include: a wired interface configured to receive or transmit signals to one or more of the other units on a wired transmission medium; and a wireless interface, which may include a receiver, a transmitter, or a transceiver (such as an RF transceiver) configured to receive or transmit signals, or both, to one or more of the other units on a wireless transmission medium.
[0071] In some aspects, CU 310 may host one or more higher layer control functions. Such control functions may include radio resource control (RRC) functions, packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) functions, or service data adaptation protocol (SDAP) functions, etc. Each control function may be implemented to have an interface configured to communicate signals with other control functions hosted by CU 310. CU 310 may be configured to handle user plane functionality (e.g., central unit-user plane (CU-UP) functionality), control plane functionality (e.g., central unit-control plane (CU-CP) functionality) or a combination thereof. In some implementations, CU 310 may be logically split into one or more CU-UP units and one or more CU-CP units. When implemented in an O-RAN configuration, the CU-UP unit may communicate bidirectionally with the CU-CP unit via an interface (such as an E1 interface). CU 310 may be implemented to communicate with DU 330 as needed for network control and signaling.
[0072] Each DU 330 may correspond to a logical unit including one or more base station functions to control the operation of one or more RUs 340. In some aspects, the DU 330 may host one or more of the following depending at least in part on a functional partition (such as that defined by 3GPP): a radio link control (RLC) layer, a MAC layer, and one or more high physical (PHY) layers. In some aspects, one or more high PHY layers may be implemented by one or more modules for forward error correction (FEC) encoding and decoding, scrambling, modulation and demodulation, etc. In some aspects, the DU 330 may further host one or more low PHY layers (such as by one or more modules for fast Fourier transform (FFT), inverse FFT (iFFT), digital beamforming, or physical random access channel (PRACH) extraction and filtering, etc.). Each layer (which may also be referred to as a module) may be implemented with an interface configured to communicate signals with other layers (and modules) hosted by the DU 330 or with a control function hosted by the CU 310.
[0073] Each RU 340 may implement lower layer functionality. In some deployments, the RU 340 controlled by the DU 330 may correspond to a logical node that hosts RF processing functions or low PHY layer functions (such as performing FFT, performing iFFT, digital beamforming, or PRSCH extraction and filtering, etc.) based on functional partitioning (e.g., functional partitioning defined by 3GPP) (such as lower layer functional partitioning). In such an architecture, each RU 340 may be operated to handle over-the-air (OTA) communications with one or more UEs 120. In some implementations, real-time and non-real-time aspects of control and user plane communications with (all) RU 340 may be controlled by the corresponding DU 330. In some scenarios, this configuration may enable each DU 330 and CU 310 to be implemented in a cloud-based RAN architecture (such as a vRAN architecture).
[0074] The SMO framework 305 may be configured to support RAN deployment and provisioning of non-virtualized and virtualized network elements. For non-virtualized network elements, the SMO framework 305 may be configured to support the deployment of dedicated physical resources for RAN coverage requirements, which may be managed via an operation and maintenance interface, such as an O1 interface. For virtualized network elements, the SMO framework 305 may be configured to interact with a cloud computing platform, such as an open cloud (O-Cloud) platform 390, to perform network element lifecycle management, such as instantiating virtualized network elements, via a cloud computing platform interface, such as an O2 interface. Such virtualized network elements may include, but are not limited to, CU 310, DU 330, RU 340, non-RT RIC 315, and near-RT RIC 325. In some implementations, the SMO framework 305 may communicate with hardware aspects of the 4G RAN, such as an open eNB (O-eNB) 311, via an O1 interface. Additionally, in some implementations, the SMO framework 305 can communicate directly with each of the one or more RUs 340 via a corresponding O1 interface. The SMO framework 305 can also include a non-RT RIC 315 configured to support the functionality of the SMO framework 305.
[0075] The non-RT RIC 315 may be configured to include logic functions that implement non-real-time control and optimization of RAN elements and resources, artificial intelligence / machine learning (AI / ML) workflows including model training and updating, or policy-based guidance of applications / features in the near-RT RIC 325. The non-RT RIC 315 may be coupled to or in communication with the near-RT RIC 325 (such as via an A1 interface). The near-RT RIC 325 may be configured to include logic functions that implement near-real-time control and optimization of RAN elements and resources via data collection and actions through an interface (such as via an E2 interface) that connects one or more CUs 310, one or more DUs 330, or both, and O-eNBs with the near-RT RIC 325. In some examples, the near-RT RIC 325 may be a logic function that implements near-real-time control and optimization of O-RAN elements and resources through the E2 interface via fine-grained data collection and actions. The near-RT RIC 325 may be co-located with the RAN or network entity to provide real-time processing, such as online ML training or near real-time ML inference. The non-RT RIC 315 may be a logic function that implements non-real-time control and optimization of RAN elements and resources, AI / ML workflows including model training and updating, and policy-based steering of applications / features in the near-RT RIC 325, and ML inference with less latency specifications. The non-RTRIC 315 may be located further away from the RAN or network node (such as on a cloud-based server or edge server).
[0076] In some implementations, in order to generate an AI / ML model to be deployed in the near-RT RIC 325, the non-RT RIC 315 may receive parameters or external enrichment information from an external server. Such information may be utilized by the near-RT RIC 325 and may be received from a non-network data source or from a network function at the SMO framework 305 or the non-RT RIC 315. In some examples, the non-RT RIC 315 or the near-RT RIC 325 may be configured to tune RAN behavior or performance. For example, the non-RT RIC 315 may monitor long-term trends and patterns of performance and employ AI / ML models to perform corrective actions through the SMO framework 305 (such as via reconfiguration of the O1 interface) or via the creation of RAN management policies (such as A1 interface policies).
[0077] As indicated above, Figure 3 are provided as examples. Other examples may differ from those described in Figure 3 Examples described.
[0078] Figure 44 is a diagram illustrating examples 400, 410, and 420 of beam management procedures according to the present disclosure. Figure 4 As shown in , examples 400, 410, and 420 include UE 120 communicating with network node 110 in a wireless network (e.g., wireless network 100). However, Figure 4 The devices shown in are provided as examples, and the wireless network may support communication and beam management between other devices (e.g., between UE 120 and wireless node 110 or TRP, between mobile termination node and control node, between IAB child node and IAB parent node, and / or between scheduled node and scheduling node). In some aspects, UE 120 and network node 110 may be in a connected state (e.g., RRC connected state).
[0079] like Figure 4 As shown in , example 400 may include a network node 110 (e.g., one or more network node devices, such as RU, DU and / or CU, etc.) and a UE 120 communicating to perform beam management using a CSI reference signal (CSI-RS). Example 400 depicts a first beam management procedure (e.g., P1 CSI-RS beam management). The first beam management procedure may be referred to as a beam selection procedure, an initial beam acquisition procedure, a beam sweeping procedure, a cell search procedure, and / or a beam search procedure. Figure 4 As shown in example 400, the CSI-RS may be configured to be transmitted from the network node 110 to the UE 120. The CSI-RS may be configured to be periodic (e.g., using RRC signaling), semi-persistent (e.g., using medium access control (MAC) control element (MAC-CE) signaling), and / or aperiodic (e.g., using downlink control information (DCI)).
[0080] The first beam management procedure may include the network node 110 performing beam sweeping on multiple transmit (Tx) beams. The network node 110 may use each transmit beam to transmit a CSI-RS for beam management. In order to enable the UE 120 to perform receive (Rx) beam sweeping, the network node may use the transmit beam to transmit (e.g., repeatedly transmit) each CSI-RS at multiple times within the same RS resource set so that the UE 120 can sweep through the receive beam in multiple transmission instances. For example, if the network node 110 has a set of N transmit beams and the UE 120 has a set of M receive beams, the CSI-RS may be transmitted M times on each of the N transmit beams so that the UE 120 can receive M instances of the CSI-RS per transmit beam. In other words, for each transmit beam of the network node 110, the UE 120 may perform beam sweeping through the receive beam of the UE 120. As a result, the first beam management procedure may enable UE 120 to measure CSI-RS on different transmit beams using different receive beams to support selection of beam pair(s) for network node 110 transmit beam / UE 120 receive beam(s). UE 120 may report the measurements to network node 110 to enable network node 110 to select one or more beam pairs for communication between network node 110 and UE 120. Although example 400 has been described in conjunction with CSI-RS, the first beam management procedure may also use synchronization signal blocks (SSBs) to perform beam management in a similar manner as described above.
[0081] like Figure 4 As shown in , example 410 may include network node 110 and UE 120 communicating to perform beam management using CSI-RS. Example 410 depicts a second beam management procedure (e.g., P2 CSI-RS beam management). The second beam management procedure may be referred to as a beam refinement procedure, a network node beam refinement procedure, a TRP beam refinement procedure, and / or a transmit beam refinement procedure. Figure 4As shown in example 410, the CSI-RS may be configured to be transmitted from the network node 110 to the UE 120. The CSI-RS may be configured to be non-periodic (e.g., using DCI). The second beam management procedure may include the base station 110 performing beam sweeping on one or more transmit beams. The one or more transmit beams may be a subset of all transmit beams associated with the network node 110 (e.g., determined at least in part based on measurements reported by the UE 120 in conjunction with the first beam management procedure). The network node 110 may use each of the one or more transmit beams to transmit the CSI-RS for beam management. The UE 120 may measure each CSI-RS using a single (e.g., the same) receive beam (e.g., determined at least in part based on measurements performed in conjunction with the first beam management procedure). The second beam management procedure may enable the network node 110 to select the best transmit beam based at least in part on measurements of the CSI-RS reported by the UE 120 (e.g., measured by the UE 120 using a single receive beam).
[0082] like Figure 4 As shown in , example 420 depicts a third beam management procedure (e.g., P3 CSI-RS beam management). The third beam management procedure may be referred to as a beam refinement procedure, a UE beam refinement procedure, and / or a receive beam refinement procedure. Figure 4 As shown in example 420, one or more CSI-RS may be configured to be transmitted from the network node 110 to the UE 120. The CSI-RS may be configured to be non-periodic (e.g., using DCI). The third beam management procedure may include the network node 110 transmitting the one or more CSI-RS using a single transmit beam (e.g., determined at least in part based on measurements reported by the UE 120 in conjunction with the first beam management procedure and / or the second beam management procedure). In order to enable the UE 120 to perform receive beam sweeping, the network node may transmit (e.g., repeatedly transmit) the CSI-RS at multiple times in the same RS resource set using the transmit beam so that the UE 120 can sweep the one or more receive beams in multiple transmission instances. The one or more receive beams may be a subset of all receive beams associated with the UE 120 (e.g., determined at least in part based on measurements performed in conjunction with the first beam management procedure and / or the second beam management procedure). The third beam management procedure may enable the network node 110 and / or the UE 120 to select the best receive beam based at least in part on reported measurements received from the UE 120 (eg, reported measurements of the CSI-RS of the transmit beam using one or more receive beams).
[0083] Wireless networks may operate at higher frequency bands, such as within millimeter wave (mmW) bands (e.g., FR2 above 28 GHz, FR4 above 60 GHz, or THz bands above 100 GHz, etc.), to provide high data rates. For example, wireless devices, such as wireless nodes and UEs, may communicate with each other through beamforming techniques to improve communication speed and reliability. Beamforming techniques may enable wireless devices to transmit signals toward a specific direction, rather than transmitting omnidirectional signals in all directions. In some examples, a wireless device may transmit signals from multiple antenna elements using a wavelength and phase that are common to transmissions from the multiple antenna elements, and the signals from the multiple antenna elements may be combined to create a combined signal with a longer range and a more directional beam. The beam width of the signal may vary based on the transmission frequency. For example, the width of the beam may be negatively correlated with the frequency, wherein the beam width may decrease as the transmission frequency increases because more radiating elements may be placed per given area at the transmitter due to smaller wavelengths. As a result, higher frequency bands (e.g., THz or sub-THz bands) may enable wireless devices to form much narrower beam structures (e.g., pencil beams, laser beams, or narrow beams, etc.) compared to beam structures at FR2 or below because more radiating elements may be placed per given area at the antenna element due to the smaller wavelength. Higher frequency bands may have short delay spreads (e.g., a few nanoseconds) and may translate into coherent frequency bandwidths of tens (10) MHz. Additionally, higher frequency bands may provide large available bandwidths that may be occupied by larger bandwidth carriers, such as 1000 MHz or more per carrier. In some examples, the transmission path of the narrower beam may be more likely to be tailored to the receiver so that the transmission may be more likely to meet line-of-sight (LOS) conditions (since the narrower beam is more likely to reach the receiver without being blocked by obstacle(s)). Moreover, since the transmission path may be narrow, reflections and / or refractions may also be less likely to occur for the narrower beam.
[0084] Although higher frequency bands may provide narrower beam structures and higher transmission rates, higher frequency bands may also experience higher attenuation and diffraction losses, where obstruction of the LOS path may degrade the quality of the wireless link. For example, when two wireless devices are communicating with each other based on a LOS path at a higher frequency band and the LOS path is blocked by obstacles (such as pedestrians, buildings, and / or vehicles, etc.), the received power may be significantly reduced. As a result, wireless communications based on higher frequency bands may be more susceptible to environmental changes than lower frequency bands. In order to ensure that the UE 120 and the network node 110 communicate using the best beam or beam pair, a beam management procedure (for example, such as in conjunction with the UE 120 or the network node 110) may be performed by the UE 120 and / or the network node 110. Figure 4However, because higher frequency bands may be more susceptible to environmental changes than lower frequency bands, beam management procedures may need to be performed more frequently and / or using additional beams. This may introduce significant overhead and consume network resources, processing resources, and / or power resources of the UE (and / or network node) associated with performing beam management procedures.
[0085] As indicated above, Figure 4 is provided as an example of a beam management procedure. Other examples of beam management procedures may differ from those described above. Figure 4 For example, UE 120 and network node 110 may perform the third beam management procedure before performing the second beam management procedure, and / or UE 120 and network node 110 may perform a similar beam management procedure to select a UE transmit beam.
[0086] Figure 5 is a diagram of an example architecture 500 illustrating a functional framework for RAN intelligence implemented through data collection according to the present disclosure. In some scenarios, the functional framework for RAN intelligence can be implemented by further enhancing data collection via use cases and / or examples. For example, principles or algorithms for RAN intelligence implemented through AI / ML and associated functional frameworks (e.g., artificial intelligence (AI) functionality, and / or input / output of components for enabling AI optimization) have been utilized or learned to identify the benefits of an AI-enabled RAN through possible use cases (e.g., beam management, energy saving, load balancing, mobility management, and / or coverage optimization, etc.). In one example, as shown by the architecture 500, the functional framework for RAN intelligence may include multiple logical entities, such as a model training host 502, a model inference host 504, a data source 506, and an actor 508.
[0087] The model inference host 504 may be configured to run an AI / ML model based on the inference data provided by the data source 506, and the model inference host 504 may generate an output (e.g., a prediction) with the inference data input to the actor 508. The actor 508 may be an element or entity of the core network or RAN. For example, the actor 508 may be a UE, a network node, a base station (e.g., a gNB), a CU, a DU, and / or a RU, etc. In addition, the actor 508 may also depend on the type of task performed by the model inference host 504, the type of inference data provided to the model inference host 504, and / or the type of output generated by the model inference host 504. For example, if the output from the model inference host 504 is associated with beam management, the actor 508 may be a UE, a DU, or a RU; and if the output from the model inference host 508 is associated with Tx / Rx scheduling, the actor 508 may be a CU or a DU.
[0088] After the actor 508 receives the output from the model inference host 504, the actor 508 may determine whether to act based on the output. For example, if the actor 508 is a DU or RU, and the output from the model inference host 504 is associated with beam management, the actor 508 may determine whether to change / modify the Tx / Rx beam based on the output. If the actor 508 determines to act based on the output, the actor 508 may indicate the action to at least one action subject 510. For example, if the actor 508 determines to change / modify the Tx / Rx beam used for communication between the actor 508 and the action subject 510 (e.g., UE 120), the actor 508 may transmit a beam (re) configuration or a beam switching indication to the action subject 510. The actor 508 may modify its Tx / Rx beam based on the beam (re) configuration, such as switching to a new Tx / Rx beam or applying different parameters to the Tx / Rx beam, etc. As another example, the actor 508 may be a UE, and the output from the model inference host 504 may be associated with beam management. For example, the output may be one or more predicted measurements of one or more beams. The actor 508 (e.g., a UE) may determine that a measurement report (e.g., a layer 1 (L1) RSRP report) is to be transmitted to the network node 110.
[0089] The data source 506 may also be configured to collect data used as training data for training an ML model or as inference data for feeding an ML model inference operation. For example, the data source 506 may collect data from one or more core network and / or RAN entities (which may include an action subject 510) and provide the collected data to the model training host 502 for ML model training. For example, after the action subject 510 (e.g., UE 120) receives a beam configuration from the actor 508, the action subject 510 may provide performance feedback associated with the beam configuration to the data source 506, wherein the performance feedback may be used by the model training host 502 to monitor or evaluate ML model performance (such as whether the output (e.g., prediction) provided to the actor 508 is accurate). In some examples, if the output provided by the actor 508 is inaccurate (or the accuracy is below an accuracy threshold), the model training host 520 may determine to modify or retrain the ML model used by the model inference host (such as via ML model deployment / update).
[0090] As indicated above, Figure 5 are provided as examples. Other examples may differ from those described in Figure 5 Examples described.
[0091] Figure 6 6 is a diagram illustrating an example 600 of AI / ML-based beam management according to the present disclosure. Figure 6 As shown in , the AI / ML model 610 may be deployed at or on the UE 120. For example, a model inference host (such as the model inference host 504) may be deployed at or on the UE 120. The AI / ML model 610 may enable the UE 120 to determine one or more inferences or predictions based on data input to the AI / ML model 610.
[0092] For example, as indicated by reference numeral 615, the input to the AI / ML model 610 may include measurements associated with the first beam set. For example, the network node 110 may transmit one or more signals via corresponding beams from the first beam set. The UE 120 may perform measurements (e.g., L1 RSRP measurements or other measurements) on the first beam set to obtain a first measurement set. For example, each beam from the first beam set may be associated with one or more measurements performed by the UE 120. The UE 120 may input the first measurement set (e.g., L1 RSRP measurement values) into the AI / ML model 610 together with information associated with the first beam set and / or the second beam set, such as beam directions (e.g., idle directions), beam widths, beam shapes, and / or other characteristics of corresponding beams from the first beam set and / or the second beam set.
[0093] As indicated by reference numeral 620, the AI / ML model 610 may output one or more predictions. The one or more predictions may include a predicted measurement value associated with the second beam set (e.g., a predicted L1 RSRP measurement value). This may reduce the number of beam measurements performed by the UE 120, thereby saving power of the UE 120 and / or network resources that would otherwise be used to measure all beams included in the first beam set and the second beam set. This type of prediction may be referred to as codebook-based spatial domain selection or prediction.
[0094] As another example, the output of the AI / ML model 610 may include the point direction, departure angle (AoD), and / or arrival angle (AoA) of the beams included in the second beam set. This type of prediction may be referred to as non-codebook based spatial domain selection or prediction. As another example, multiple measurement reports or values collected at different time points may be input to the AI / ML model 610. This may enable the AI / ML model 610 to output codebook based and / or non-codebook based predictions of the measurement values, AoD and / or AoA, etc. of the beams at future times. As described herein, the output(s) of the AI / ML model 610 may facilitate initial access procedures, secondary cell group (SCG) establishment procedures, beam refinement procedures (e.g., as described above in conjunction with Figure 4The described P2 beam management procedure or P3 beam management procedure), link quality or inference adaptation procedure, beam failure and / or beam obstruction prediction, and / or radio link failure prediction, etc.
[0095] In some examples, beam measurement prediction may be performed by a UE (e.g., Figure 6 ) and / or the network node 110 performs in a manner similar to that described above. For example, the network node 110 may receive one or more measurements (e.g., performed by the UE 120) and may predict one or more measurements (e.g., of other beams) using the AI / ML model 610 based at least in part on the one or more measurements performed by the UE 120. For example, the prediction may be performed by the network node 110 because the network node 110 may have more processing resources and / or greater processing power than the UE 120. Additionally, the network node 110 may have access to historical measurement reports and / or measurement reports from other UEs, which may be used as input to the AI / ML model 610 (e.g., which may improve the accuracy of the output of the AI / ML model 610). The prediction may be performed by the UE 120 because the UE 120 may have access to filtered measurements of all beams (e.g., not all measurements may be reported to the network node 110). Additionally, the UE 120 may have information related to deriving or performing the measurements (e.g., which may be useful input to the AI / ML model 610). As another example, the measurement information at the UE 120 may be "raw" or non-quantized, thereby providing more information that may be input into the AI / ML model 610. Furthermore, the UE 120 may have knowledge of the orientation or rotational position of the UE 120.
[0096] In some examples, a first set of beams (e.g., measured) may be referred to as set B beams, and a second set of beams (e.g., associated with predicted measurements) may be referred to as set A beams. In some examples, a first set of beams (e.g., set B beams) may be a subset of a second set of beams (e.g., set A beams). In some other examples, the first set of beams and the second set of beams may be different beams, and / or may be mutually exclusive sets. For example, a first set of beams (e.g., set B beams) may include wide beams (e.g., unrefined beams or beams with a beamwidth that satisfies a first threshold), and a second set of beams (e.g., set A beams) may include narrow beams (e.g., refined beams or beams with a beamwidth that satisfies a second threshold). In one example, the AI / ML model 610 may perform spatial domain downlink beam prediction for beams included in set A beams based on measurement results of beams included in set B beams. As another example, the AI / ML model 610 may perform temporal downlink beam prediction for beams included in the set A beams based on historical measurements of beams included in the set B beams.
[0097] In some examples, the beams included in the first beam set (e.g., set B beams) may be fixed over time and / or may follow a set or predictable pattern. For example, at each time domain measurement occasion, the beams included in the first beam set (e.g., set B beams to be measured by UE 120 to facilitate a prediction of a measurement of set A beams) may be fixed (e.g., the same) or may follow a set pattern. For example, set A beams may include 16 beams, and set B beams may include a subset of set A beams. At each time domain measurement occasion, set B beams may be the same subset of set A beams. In other examples, set B beams may change at different time domain measurement occasions, but may follow a set or predictable pattern (such as a round-robin pattern).
[0098] In some cases, using a set of set B beams that are fixed over time may degrade the performance of predictions made by the AI / ML model 610 (deployed at the UE 120 or network node 110). For example, one or more beams included in the set B beams may be associated with beam obstruction, interference, or another intervening factor that degrades the performance of the signal conveyed via the one or more beams. For example, higher frequency bands may experience higher attenuation and diffraction losses, where obstruction of the LOS path may degrade the quality of the wireless link. Therefore, using a set of set B beams that are fixed over time may result in inaccurate or degraded performance of the predicted measurements of the beams included in the set A. However, using a set B beam that is not fixed (or random) over time may introduce additional challenges because the wireless communication device (e.g., UE 120 and / or network node 110) may not know which beams (or channel measurement resources) to measure at a given measurement opportunity. Furthermore, in examples where UE 120 is performing predictions, UE 120 and network node 110 may be unable to synchronize which beams are to be associated with transmissions (and measurements) and which beams are to be measured. As a result, UE 120 may attempt to measure beams that are not associated with transmissions, thereby causing misleading measurements (e.g., because the measurement may be low due to the absence of a transmission associated with the beam rather than due to poor channel conditions or another condition) to be provided as input to AI / ML model 610, thereby degrading the accuracy of one or more predicted measurements.
[0099] Some techniques and apparatus described herein implement signaling for random measurement beam patterns for beam measurement prediction. For example, a UE 120 may receive configuration information indicating one or more CMR sets associated with a CSI report. In some aspects, the configuration information may indicate that the UE 120 is to predict measurements of one or more CMRs from the one or more CMR sets. In some aspects, an association between a subset of CMRs from one or more CMR sets and a corresponding time domain measurement opportunity may be defined (e.g., by configuration information or by another communication from a network node). In some aspects, a subset of CMRs from one or more CMR sets may be randomly selected. The UE 120 may measure a subset of CMRs from the subset of CMRs indicated by the association as being associated with the time domain measurement opportunity at a time domain measurement opportunity in the corresponding time domain measurement opportunities. The UE 120 may transmit a CSI report, wherein the CSI report includes predicted measurement values associated with the one or more CMRs, and wherein the predicted measurement values are based at least in part on measurements of the subset of CMRs.
[0100] As a result, the UE 120 may be enabled to use a random pattern of CMRs to be measured (e.g., a random pattern of set B beams) to facilitate beam measurement predictions. For example, the signaling described herein may ensure that the UE 120 and one or more network nodes (e.g., a network node that transmits a signal to be measured by the UE 120 and / or a network node that receives a CSI report) are synchronized as to which beams (e.g., which CMRs) the UE 120 is to measure at a given time domain measurement occasion. Enabling the use of a random pattern of CMRs to be measured by the UE 120 (e.g., a random pattern of set B beams) to facilitate beam measurement predictions may improve the performance and / or accuracy of beam measurement predictions (e.g., because these predictions may not be based on actual beam measurements of a beam associated with obstruction, interference, or another condition that affects the performance of a signal communicated via the beam).
[0101] As indicated above, Figure 6 are provided as examples. Other examples may differ from those described in Figure 6 Examples described.
[0102] Figure 7 is a diagram illustrating an example 700 associated with signaling for a random measurement beam pattern for beam measurement prediction according to the present disclosure. Figure 7 As shown in FIG. 1 , a network node 110 (e.g., a base station, a CU, a DU, and / or a RU) may communicate with a UE 120. In some aspects, the network node 110 and the UE 120 may be part of a wireless network (e.g., the wireless network 100). The UE 120 and the network node 110 may already be in communication with each other. Figure 7 The wireless connection was established before the operations shown in .
[0103] In some aspects, the actions described herein as being performed by the network node 110 may be performed by a plurality of different network nodes. For example, a configuration action may be performed by a first network node (e.g., a CU or a DU), and a radio communication action may be performed by a second network node (e.g., a DU or a RU). As used herein, a "transmission" of a communication by the network node 110 to the UE 120 may refer to a direct transmission (e.g., from the network node 110 to the UE 120) or an indirect transmission via one or more other network nodes or devices. For example, if the network node 110 is a DU, an indirect transmission to the UE 120 may include the DU transmitting the communication to the RU and the RU transmitting the communication to the UE 120. Similarly, a "transmission" of a communication by the UE 120 to the network node 110 may refer to a direct transmission (e.g., from the UE 120 to the network node 110) or an indirect transmission via one or more other network nodes or devices. For example, if the network node 110 is a DU, an indirect transmission to the network node 110 may include the UE 120 transmitting the communication to the RU and the RU transmitting the communication to the DU.
[0104] As in Figure 7 In the example and as indicated by reference numeral 705, UE 120 may transmit and network node 110 may receive a capability report. The capability report may indicate that UE 120 supports performing predictive beam management as described herein. For example, the capability report may indicate that UE 120 supports performing as described in conjunction with Figure 5 and 6 In some aspects, the capability report may indicate that the UE 120 supports identifying beam information for performing predictive beam management using a set (or subset) of CMRs that are random over time, as described in greater detail elsewhere herein. In some aspects, the UE 120 may be configured to perform one or more operations described herein based at least in part on the capability report indicating that the UE 120 supports performing predictive beam management.
[0105] As indicated by reference numeral 710, the network node 110 may transmit, and the UE 120 may receive, configuration information. In some aspects, the UE 120 may receive the configuration information via one or more of system information signaling, RRC signaling, one or more MAC-CEs and / or DCIs, etc. In some aspects, the configuration information may include an indication of one or more configuration parameters for selection by the UE 120 (e.g., already stored by the UE 120 and / or previously indicated by the network node 110 or other network device), and / or explicit configuration information for the UE 120 to configure itself, etc.
[0106] In some aspects, the configuration information may indicate that the UE 120 is to perform predictive beam management. For example, the configuration information may indicate that the UE 120 is to use an AI / ML model and / or a model inference host deployed at or associated with the UE 120 to predict measurement values associated with one or more beams (e.g., L1 RSRP value, L1 signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINR) value, CQI, rank indicator (RI), precoding matrix indicator (PMI), layer indication (L1), and / or other values or parameters). For example, the configuration information may indicate that the UE 120 is to use measurement values of other transmit beams of the network node 110 (e.g., obtained by the UE 120) to predict measurement values associated with the transmit beam(s) of the network node 110 (e.g., RU).
[0107] In some aspects, the configuration information may indicate one or more resource sets. In some aspects, the one or more resource sets may include downlink reference signal resources, such as SSB resources or CSI-RS resources. In some aspects, the one or more resource sets may be one or more channel measurement resource (CMR) sets for CSI reporting (e.g., may be indicated via the resourcesForChannelMeasurement (resources for channel measurement) information element). In some aspects, a given resource (e.g., a given CMR) may be associated with a beam. For example, the network node 110 may associate a given resource with a given beam. In a situation where the resource is used for transmission by the network node 110, the network node 110 may use the resource and the beam for transmission. In some aspects, the configuration information may indicate that the UE 120 is to predict measurements of one or more CMRs from the one or more CMR sets.
[0108] In some aspects, the configuration information may include a CSI configuration. For example, the configuration information may include a CSI report setting and / or a CSI resource setting, etc. As another example, the configuration information may include a CSI-ReportConfig configuration and / or a CSI-ResourceConfig configuration, etc. In other words, the configuration information may configure the UE 120 to transmit a CSI report including information (e.g., measurements) associated with one or more resource sets. As described above, the one or more resource sets may be CMRs for CSI reporting.
[0109] In some aspects, the configuration information may indicate a reporting quantity configuration for CSI reporting. For example, the UE 120 may be configured with a CSI-ReportConfig, where a higher layer parameter reportQuantity is set to none, cri-RI-PMI-CQI, cri-RI-i1, cri-RI-i1-CQI, cri-RI-CQI, cri-RSRP, ssb-Index-RSRP, or cri-RI-LI-PMI-CQI, etc. (e.g., as defined by 3GPP or otherwise fixed). The reporting quantity may indicate or configure what is to be included in the CSI report, what the UE 120 expects to be configured for the CSI report, etc. In other words, the reporting quantity may indicate what kind of quantity (e.g., SSB RSRP, CQI, PMI, and / or RI) the UE 120 should measure and report. For example, a wireless communication standard (such as 3GPP) may define expectations and / or configurations for CSI reporting for different values of the reporting quantity. For example, UE 120 may receive a configuration for a CSI report (eg, CSI report configuration, CSI resource configuration, CSI-ReportConfig, and / or CSI-ResourceConfig) that may indicate that the one or more resource sets are CMRs associated with the CSI report.
[0110] In some aspects, the configuration information may indicate an association between a CMR subset from one or more CMR sets and a corresponding time domain measurement occasion for CSI reporting. For example, the CSI configuration may configure the UE 120 to perform measurements over time. The time at which the UE 120 is to perform measurements for CSI reporting may be referred to as a "time domain measurement occasion". For example, the time domain measurement occasion may be associated with a time domain resource (e.g., a time domain radio resource) of a signal to be measured by the UE 120. The CSI configuration may configure the UE 120 to perform measurements at various time domain measurement occasions over time. In some aspects, the configuration information (e.g., the CSI configuration or another configuration) may indicate an association between CMR subsets (randomly generated from one or more CMR sets as described in more detail elsewhere herein) at corresponding measurement occasions. In other words, the configuration information may indicate which CMR subset from the CMR subsets to be measured by the UE 120 at a given time domain measurement occasion.
[0111] In some aspects, the configuration information may indicate a manner in which a CMR subset is generated from one or more CMR sets. For example, a CMR set (e.g., a CMR set) may include multiple CMRs. In some aspects, the configuration information may indicate a formula or technique to be used to generate a CMR subset from multiple CMRs. For example, the configuration information may indicate one or more random seed values (or randomization seeds) to be used to generate or determine a CMR subset from multiple CMRs. The random seed value may be a base value or vector that can be used to initialize a pseudo-random number generator. The pseudo-random number generator may be deployed at the UE 120. The pseudo-random number generator may output an indication (e.g., an index value or identifier) of a CMR to be included in a given CMR subset. As another example, the pseudo-random number generator may output an indication (e.g., an index value or identifier) of a source reference signal (e.g., a quasi-co-located (QCL) source reference signal or a transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state source reference signal) associated with a CMR to be included in a given CMR subset.
[0112] In some aspects, the configuration information may indicate a CMR pattern. For example, a CMR subset from one or more CMR sets may be based at least in part on a CMR pattern (e.g., where the CMR pattern defines the CMRs included in the CMR subset). In some aspects, the CMR pattern may be a random pattern. For example, the CMR pattern may be a random pattern defined by one or more random seed values. For example, different network nodes may be associated with different random or semi-random patterns for selecting a set B beam. For example, different network nodes may determine or identify different random or semi-random patterns for selecting a set B beam during training or testing of an AI / ML model. Thus, the UE 120 may be configured (e.g., dynamically) and / or indicated with a pattern (e.g., a CMR pattern) to be used for selecting CMRs to be included in each CMR subset, as described herein.
[0113] In some aspects, the configuration information may indicate an AI / ML model to be used by the UE 120 for predictive beam management. For example, the UE 120 may download the AI / ML model from the network (e.g., from the network node 110). In some aspects, the AI / ML model may be trained by the network node 110 and provided to the UE 120. In other aspects, the UE 120 may train the AI / ML model. In some aspects, the AI / ML model may be pre-configured on the UE 120 (e.g., in an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) configuration). In some aspects, the configuration information may indicate one or more inputs to be provided to the AI / ML model, such as one or more measurement values, CMR patterns, and / or QCL information of CMRs measured by the UE 120, etc. In some aspects, the configuration information may indicate one or more outputs to be provided by the AI / ML model, such as predicted L1 RSRP values associated with one or more CMR sets, predicted L1 SINR values, predicted CQI, predicted RI, predicted PMI, predicted LI, and / or other predicted values or parameters.
[0114] The UE may configure itself based at least in part on the configuration information. In some aspects, UE 120 may be configured to perform one or more operations described herein based at least in part on the configuration information.
[0115] In some aspects, the network node 110 may transmit signals using all CMRs included in one or more CMR sets. For example, the CMRs included in the one or more CMR sets may define a set A beam associated with a predicted beam management procedure (e.g., where a subset of CMRs for a given measurement opportunity defines a set B beam for the given measurement opportunity). In some aspects, the network node 110 may transmit signals using all beams (e.g., all CMRs) included in the set A beam. In some examples, the network node 110 may not transmit signals using all CMRs included in the one or more CMR sets. For example, the network node 110 may transmit signals only via a set B beam for a given measurement opportunity. In other words, the network node 110 may transmit signals only via a subset of CMRs for a given measurement opportunity (e.g., and may not transmit signals using other CMRs included in the one or more CMR sets). For example, the network node 110 may transmit signals at a time domain measurement opportunity using the CMRs that the UE 120 is to measure at the time domain measurement opportunity. This may save network resources that would otherwise be used to transmit signals using all CMRs included in one or more CMR sets.
[0116] As indicated by reference numeral 715, the network node 110 may transmit and the UE 120 may receive an indication of a CMR subset (e.g., from one or more CMR sets) and an indication of an association between the CMR subset and a time domain measurement opportunity (MO) for predictive beam management. In some aspects, these indications may be included in the configuration information. In some other aspects, these indications may be included in a different communication (such as a MAC-CE communication or a DCI communication). In some aspects, the configuration information may configure multiple options for association between CMR subsets and / or CMRs and time domain measurement opportunities (e.g., for aperiodic CSI reporting and / or semi-persistent CSI reporting). In such examples, the network node 110 may transmit and the UE 120 may receive an indication of an option for association between CMR subsets and / or CMRs and time domain measurement opportunities (e.g., from a plurality of configured options).
[0117] In some aspects, the indication of the CMR subset may include an indication of a CMR pattern. For example, the CMR pattern may indicate which CMRs from the CMR set are to be measured by the UE 120 at a given time domain measurement opportunity. In other words, the CMR pattern may indicate one or more CMR subsets from a CMR set (e.g., a configured CMR set). Additionally, the CMR pattern may indicate an association between one or more CMR subsets and a time domain measurement opportunity (e.g., it indicates which CMR subset from these CMR subsets is to be measured by the UE 120 at a given time domain measurement opportunity). In some aspects, one or more CMR subsets may include CMRs randomly selected from the CMR set. For example, as described elsewhere herein, the UE 120 may randomly select CMRs from the CMR set to determine one or more CMR subsets. In some aspects, measurements of one or more CMR subsets and the CMR pattern may be provided as input to a prediction model (e.g., an AI / ML model for beam management prediction).
[0118] In some aspects, the CMR pattern may be a random pattern defined by one or more random seed values. For example, the UE 120 may receive and the network node 110 may transmit (e.g., in configuration information or another communication) an indication of the one or more random seed values. For example, the association between the CMR subset selection and the associated opportunity (e.g., the time domain measurement opportunity) may be based at least in part on a random pattern defined by a randomization seed. The random pattern may be based at least in part on using a formula including an input including one or more random seed values (e.g., configurable and / or indicated by the network node 110) and an output including a plurality of subset selection index sets, wherein each subset selection index set includes a plurality of CMR identifiers from CMRs associated with the CSI report. In some aspects, the formula may be defined by a wireless communication standard (such as 3GPP) or otherwise fixed. Additionally or alternatively, the formula may be indicated to the UE 120 by the network node 110. In some aspects, the formula may be based at least in part on a time slot, subframe, and / or frame identifier associated with a given measurement opportunity. In other words, the input to the formula may include a timeslot, subframe, and / or frame identifier associated with a given measurement opportunity. For example, the CMR mode may be based at least in part on at least one of a timeslot, subframe, and / or frame identifier associated with a CSI reporting and / or measurement opportunity.
[0119] For example, UE 120 may receive and network node 110 may transmit an indication of one or more random seed values. UE 120 may determine one or more CMR subsets based on one or more CMR sets and one or more random seed values. For example, UE 120 may use one or more random seed values and one or more CMR sets to obtain one or more CMR subsets. UE 120 may determine or identify an association between a CMR subset and a corresponding time domain measurement opportunity associated with a CSI configuration.
[0120] For example, the association between the CMR subsets from one or more CMR sets and the corresponding time domain measurement opportunities may be based at least in part on the CMR pattern and may be defined by a wireless communication standard (such as 3GPP) (e.g., a mapping or association between the subset identifier and the measurement opportunity identifier may be defined). Additionally or alternatively, the association between the CMR subsets from one or more CMR sets and the corresponding time domain measurement opportunities may be based at least in part on the CMR pattern and may be included in the configuration information (e.g., may be configured or indicated by the network node 110). For example, the network node 110 may transmit and the UE 120 may receive an indication of the mapping or association between the subset identifier and the measurement opportunity identifier. For example, the network node 110 may indicate to the UE 120 that the subset A is to be used in measurement opportunity 1, the subset B is to be used in measurement opportunity 2, the subset B is to be used in measurement opportunity 3, the subset C is to be used in measurement opportunity 4, and so on. For example, the network node 110 may indicate that the UE 120 is to use (e.g., that the UE 120 is to measure) the same subset during multiple time domain measurement occasions. In other words, each CMR subset (e.g., selected by the UE 120 using (random seeds)) may be associated with a specific measurement occasion, where the association may be determined based on a definition promulgated by a wireless communication standard and / or indicated by the network node 110.
[0121] In some aspects, the UE 120 may receive and the network node 110 may transmit an indication of a CMR pattern. For example, the indication of the CMR pattern may indicate the CMRs included in each CMR subset. In other words, the UE 120 may receive an indication of the CMR subset (e.g., from the network node 110) instead of the UE 120 determining the CMR subset (e.g., using one or more random seed values). For example, the CMR subset may be explicitly indicated by the network node 110 (e.g., in configuration information, in an RRC message, a MAC-CE message, and / or a DCI message). In such examples, the association between the CMR subsets from one or more CMR sets and the corresponding time domain measurement opportunities may be defined by a wireless communication standard (such as 3GPP) (e.g., a mapping or association between a subset identifier and a measurement opportunity identifier may be defined). Additionally or alternatively, the association between the CMR subsets from one or more CMR sets and the corresponding time domain measurement opportunities may be included in the configuration information (e.g., may be configured or indicated by the network node 110). For example, the network node 110 may transmit, and the UE 120 may receive, an indication of a mapping or association between subset identifiers and measurement occasion identifiers.
[0122] In some aspects, UE 120 may use only a single CMR subset. For example, the indication of the CMR mode may indicate that the CMR subset is a single CMR subset. In such examples, UE 120 may use a single CMR subset and predict beam measurements and / or beam parameters for all CMRs for each time domain measurement occasion.
[0123] In some aspects, the CMR mode may be indicated via a CSI reporting setting associated with the CSI report. For example, for periodic CSI reporting, a single option of the subset selection mode (e.g., a single CMR mode) may be RRC-configured via a CSI reporting setting associated with the CSI report. In other examples, the CSI reporting setting associated with the CSI report may indicate multiple CMR modes (e.g., for semi-persistent and / or aperiodic CSI reporting). In such examples, the CMR mode may be indicated via a MAC-CE communication that activates CSI reporting (e.g., for semi-persistent CSI reporting) or a downlink control information communication that triggers CSI reporting (e.g., for aperiodic CSI reporting). For example, there may be multiple options of subset selection modes that are RRC-configured (indicated to the UE 120 as described above) via a CSI reporting setting associated with the CSI report. The MAC-CE that activates the CSI report may indicate one of these options. As another example, a CSI triggering state configuration associated with the CSI report may be associated with one of these options. UE 120 may identify an option based at least in part on the CSI triggering status indicated by the DCI.
[0124] As another example, the UE 120 may receive and the network node 110 may transmit QCL information associated with one or more CMR sets, wherein the CMR subsets are defined via the QCL information and the association. The QCL information may include a QCL type D (e.g., as defined by 3GPP or otherwise fixed). For example, the QCL type D information may include spatial reception parameters (e.g., which may enable the UE 120 to identify spatial information associated with a receive beam or receive a spatial direction to be used to receive a signal associated with a given CMR). In some aspects, the QCL information may be included in the configuration information. Additionally or alternatively, the QCL information may be indicated via MAC-CE signaling or DCI signaling. In some aspects, the UE 120 may provide measurements and QCL information for one or more CMR subsets as input to the prediction model.
[0125] For example, the UE 120 may be requested to predict one or more beam measurements or beam parameters for a beam set in the CSI report (e.g., a beam set not used for transmission by the network node 110). The prediction may be based at least in part on the UE 120 measuring CMRs associated with the CSI report, wherein the association between QCL information (e.g., QCL type D information) of these CMRs and corresponding measurement opportunities may be configured for the UE 120 (e.g., via RRC signaling) or indicated to the UE 120 (e.g., via MAC-CE signaling and / or DCI signaling).
[0126] In some aspects, the UE 120 may determine a CMR subset based at least in part on the QCL information and one or more random seed values (e.g., one or more random seed values configured and / or indicated in a manner similar to that described elsewhere herein). For example, each CMR subset from one or more CMR sets may include one or more QCL source resource identifiers indicated by the QCL information. The UE 120 may use the one or more QCL source resource identifiers to determine the spatial information and / or TCI state to be used for receiving and / or measuring the CMR. For example, the CMR subset may be based at least in part on a randomly selected QCL source resource identifier indicated by the QCL information. In some aspects, in a manner similar to that described elsewhere herein, the association (e.g., between the CMR subset and the corresponding time domain measurement opportunity) may be defined by a wireless communication standard or included in the configuration information. In some aspects, in a manner similar to that described elsewhere herein, the randomly selected QCL source resource identifier may be based at least in part on at least one of a time slot, a subframe, or a frame identifier associated with a CSI report and / or a given measurement opportunity.
[0127] In some aspects, the candidate QCL type D source resources may be configured via a CSI configuration (e.g., a CSI report setting). For example, the QCL information may be included in a CSI report setting associated with the CSI report. The CSI report setting (or another CSI configuration) may indicate the candidate QCL type D source resources. For example, the CSI report setting may configure 64 QCL type D source resources (e.g., TCI states, SSBs, and / or CSI-RS) as candidate QCL type D source resources. The QCL type D source resources may be provided as input to a random seed value formula. The random seed value formula may output N (e.g., 8 or another number) QCL type D source resources associated with a given CMR subset (e.g., from the candidate QCL type D source resources). The random seed value formula may be associated with the output of one or more groups of N QCL type D source resources (e.g., where each group of N QCL type D source resources defines a given CMR subset).
[0128] In some aspects, the UE 120 may receive and the network node 110 may transmit an indication of QCL information associated with the CMR subsets. For example, the indication of the QCL information may indicate QCL information about the CMRs included in each CMR subset. In other words, the UE 120 may receive (e.g., from the network node 110) an indication of QCL information about the CMR subsets, rather than the UE 120 determining the CMR subsets (e.g., using one or more random seed values for the candidate QCL source reference). For example, the QCL information about the CMR subsets may be explicitly indicated by the network node 110 (e.g., in configuration information, in an RRC message, a MAC-CE message, and / or a DCI message). In such examples, the association between the CMR subsets from one or more CMR sets and the corresponding time domain measurement opportunities may be defined by a wireless communication standard (such as 3GPP) (e.g., a mapping or association between a subset identifier and a measurement opportunity identifier may be defined). Additionally or alternatively, associations between CMR subsets from one or more CMR sets and corresponding time domain measurement opportunities may be included in configuration information (e.g., may be configured or indicated by network node 110). For example, network node 110 may transmit and UE 120 may receive an indication of a mapping or association between subset identifiers and measurement opportunity identifiers. Additionally, candidate QCL type D source resources may be configured via CSI configuration (e.g., via CSI report settings in a manner similar to that described above), and UE 120 may receive an explicit indication of QCL type D source resources associated with each CMR subset from the candidate QCL type D source resources.
[0129] In some aspects, the QCL information may be indicated via a CSI reporting setting associated with the CSI report. For example, for periodic CSI reporting, a single option of QCL information (e.g., a single CMR mode) may be RRC-configured via a CSI reporting setting associated with the CSI report. In other examples, the CSI reporting setting associated with the CSI report may indicate multiple options of QCL information (e.g., for semi-persistent and / or aperiodic CSI reporting). In such examples, the QCL information may be indicated via a MAC-CE communication that activates CSI reporting (e.g., for semi-persistent CSI reporting) or a downlink control information communication that triggers CSI reporting (e.g., for aperiodic CSI reporting). For example, there may be multiple options of a subset selection mode of QCL information (indicated to the UE 120 as described above) that is RRC-configured via a CSI reporting setting associated with the CSI report. The MAC-CE that activates the CSI report may indicate one of these options. As another example, a CSI triggering state configuration associated with the CSI report may be associated with one of these options. UE 120 may identify an option based at least in part on the CSI triggering status indicated by the DCI.
[0130] In some aspects, the one or more CMR sets include multiple CMR sets (e.g., multiple CMR sets) associated with the same CSI report. The multiple CMR sets may each be associated with the same (or similar) time domain periodicity, but with different time domain offset values. The time domain offset value may be an amount of time from a reference time at which a first time domain opportunity associated with the CMR set occurs. As a result, the multiple CMR sets may occur at or be associated with different time domain measurement opportunities. For example, the multiple CMR sets may be evenly distributed over time (e.g., due to the same or similar time domain periodicity) at different time domain measurement opportunities (e.g., due to different time domain offset values).
[0131] For example, the UE 120 may be requested (e.g., by the network node 110) to predict beam measurement values and / or parameters for a set of untransmitted beams associated with a CSI report, and further report one or more of the predicted beam measurement values and / or parameters in the CSI report. The prediction may be based at least in part on measurements of a plurality of CMR sets associated with the CSI report by the UE 120. The prediction may be based at least in part on measurements of a given CMR set from the plurality of CMR sets and the plurality of CMR sets. For example, the predicted measurement values associated with one or more CMRs may be based at least in part on an output of a prediction model, and measurements of a subset of CMRs (e.g., a set of CMRs from the plurality of CMR sets) and the plurality of CMR sets may be provided as inputs to the prediction model.
[0132] In some aspects, UE 120 may expect multiple CMR sets to be associated with the same (e.g., equal) time domain periodicity and different time domain offsets. Additionally or alternatively, UE 120 may expect the multiple CMR sets to be associated with at least partially different sets of QCL source resources (e.g., QCL type D source resources).
[0133] In some aspects, the plurality of CMR sets may be selected and / or generated by the UE 120 using a random pattern (e.g., by randomly selecting the CMR sets from the candidate CMR sets). For example, the plurality of CMR sets may include the randomly selected CMR sets. The randomly selected CMR sets may be based at least in part on one or more random seed values and the candidate CMR sets. For example, the random pattern may be based on using a formula including an input including one or more random seed values (e.g., which may be configured and / or indicated to the UE 120 by the network node 110 in a manner similar to that described elsewhere herein) and an output including the plurality of CMR sets. For example, by using the one or more random seed values, the UE 120 may randomly select the plurality of CMR sets from the candidate CMR sets.
[0134] The candidate CMR set may be configured as part of a CSI configuration. The candidate CMR set may be indicated via RRC signaling. For example, the candidate CMR set may be indicated via a CSI report setting associated with a CSI report. In other words, the candidate CMR set may be configured as a (e.g., regular) CMR set, and the signaling and / or selection (e.g., using a random pattern and / or (s) random seed value) may be used to randomly select a plurality of CMR sets from the candidate CMR set.
[0135] In some aspects, multiple CMR sets may be explicitly indicated and / or configured. For example, UE 120 may receive and network node 110 may transmit an indication of multiple CMR sets. For example, network node 110 may configure multiple CMR sets (e.g., in RRC communication or CSI configuration). As another example, UE 120 may receive and network node 110 may transmit (e.g., explicitly) a signal (e.g., a MAC-CE signal and / or a DCI signal) indicating multiple CMR sets.
[0136] In some aspects, multiple CMR sets may be indicated (e.g., explicitly) via a CSI reporting setting associated with a CSI report. For example, for periodic CSI reporting, a single option of multiple CMR sets may be RRC-configured via a CSI reporting setting associated with the CSI report. In other examples, a CSI reporting setting associated with a CSI report may indicate multiple options of multiple CMR sets (e.g., for semi-persistent and / or aperiodic CSI reporting). In such examples, multiple CMR sets may be indicated (e.g., indicating options from multiple options) via a MAC-CE communication that activates CSI reporting (e.g., for semi-persistent CSI reporting) or a downlink control information communication that triggers CSI reporting (e.g., for aperiodic CSI reporting). For example, there may be multiple options of subset selection modes of multiple CMR sets that are RRC-configured (indicated to the UE 120 as described above) via a CSI reporting setting associated with the CSI report. The MAC-CE that activates CSI reporting may indicate one of these options. As another example, a CSI that triggers a state configuration associated with a CSI report may be associated with one of the options.UE 120 may identify an option based at least in part on the CSI triggering state indicated by the DCI.
[0137] In some aspects, the UE 120 may use RSRP fingerprints for beam obstruction prediction. The RSRP fingerprint may represent a time series of RSRP (e.g., L1-RSRP) measurements associated with a spatially swept beam (e.g., a network node 110 transmit beam). The network node 110 may use such RSRP fingerprints to train a machine learning model to predict beam obstruction, including predicting beam obstruction events and corresponding instances, severity, and directions, etc. By training the machine learning model using RSRP fingerprints, the network node 110 may associate (e.g., tag) actual beam failure instances with corresponding beam IDs (e.g., indexes, indicators), which may improve the accuracy of beam obstruction prediction. For example, if the RSRP fingerprint indicates a future time period in which a set of beams may be completely obstructed, the RSRP fingerprint may indicate jitters before the obstruction instances, which may trigger a prediction of an upcoming beam obstruction.
[0138] The network node 110 may transmit a set of beams (e.g., SSB resources, CSI-RS resources) in different directions, and the UE 120 may receive the set of beams via one or more receive beams. The UE 120 may periodically measure and report the measured RSRP associated with the set of beams (e.g., spatially swept SSB or CSI-RS resources) transmitted in different directions. The network node 110 may use an AI / ML model (e.g., a recurrent neural network (RNN) model) to predict beam blocking, wherein the machine learning model may be trained using the reported RSRP. In this way, the network node 110 may use the machine learning model to predict beam blocking in future time periods. In some aspects, the UE 120 may report the strongest measured RSRP to the network node 110. For example, the UE 120 may measure and report measurements of up to four strongest SSB beams or CSI-RS beams transmitted by the network node 110, which may not efficiently and accurately reflect the characteristics of the RSRP fingerprint (e.g., because only the strongest measurement is included). However, reporting every measurement and reporting the RSRP for every beam may result in increased overhead consumption at UE 120 (eg, increased power and resource usage).
[0139] In some aspects, the UE 120 may use a measurement (e.g., RSRP) reporting scheme in which the UE 120 may report measured channel characteristics (e.g., RSRP, SINR) for beams (e.g., reference signal resources) that may or may not have the strongest measurement. That is, which measurement information the UE 120 reports may be based on a configuration indicated from the network node 110, a dynamic indication from the network node 110, or a determination made by the UE 120. By reporting measurement information for various beams (e.g., rather than just the beam with the strongest or highest measurement), the UE 120 may more efficiently and accurately report the RSRP fingerprint of the environment of the wireless network 100, which may enable the network node 110 to more accurately predict beam blocking. Additionally, signaling and power consumption at the UE 120 may be further reduced because the UE 120 and the network node 110 may use different payload sizes or different quantization granularities when making and reporting measurements.
[0140] In some cases, the network node 110 may indicate to the UE 120 specific beams (e.g., reference signal resources) to be measured and include measurement information in a report, the indication identifying a set of reference signal resource IDs corresponding to the specific beams. Alternatively, the network node 110 may indicate to the UE 120 a specific (e.g., specified) set of reference signal resource IDs from a plurality of sets, wherein the UE 120 may measure beams corresponding to the reference signal resource IDs in the indicated set and include measurement information in a report. In some aspects, the network node 110 may indicate a plurality of sets of reference signal resource IDs corresponding to beams, wherein the UE 120 may select a set (e.g., a second set) from the indicated plurality of sets of beams to measure and include measurement information in a report based on one or more criteria. In this manner, the UE 120 may transmit to the network node 110 a report indicating measurement information of beams corresponding to the set of reference signal resource IDs in the selected set, which may reduce signaling overhead at the UE 120 and improve communication efficiency between the UE 120 and the network node 110.
[0141] In some aspects, a beam and / or a set of reference signal resource IDs corresponding to a beam (e.g., to be associated with a CSI report) may be randomly selected in a manner similar to that described elsewhere herein. For example, a pattern configured and / or indicated for the purpose of indicating to the UE 120 which specific beam measurements should be reported to the network node 110 may be a random pattern (e.g., based at least in part on one or more random seed values) in a manner similar to that described in greater detail elsewhere herein. For example, the reporting pattern may be random, and / or the reporting occasions may be different across different time domains.
[0142] As indicated by reference numeral 720, the UE 120 may determine a CMR subset for a given time domain measurement occasion. For example, the UE 120 may determine and / or select a CMR subset (or CMR set) from one or more CMR sets. As described above, the CMR subset may be randomly selected and may be associated with or mapped to a given time domain measurement occasion based at least in part on signaling received from the network node 110. The CMR subset may be a CMR to be measured by the UE 120 during a given time domain measurement occasion. For example, the UE 120 may measure the CMR subset and may use these measurements to predict measurement values and / or other parameters of other CMRs (e.g., not actually measured by the UE 120). In other words, for a given measurement occasion, the CMR subset may be associated with a set B beam for predicting beam management. As described above, for other time domain measurement occasions, the CMR subset measured by the UE 120 may be different (e.g., may be a different CMR subset selected randomly).
[0143] As indicated by reference numeral 725, the network node 110 may transmit and the UE 120 may receive one or more signals. For example, the network node 110 may transmit the signal(s) (e.g., SSB, CSI-RS, and / or other reference signals) using resources associated with the configured CMRs. In some aspects, the network node 110 may transmit the signal using all CMRs from one or more CMR sets (e.g., the network node 110 may transmit the signal via all beams included in the set A beams). In other aspects, the network node 110 may transmit the signal using a subset of CMRs associated with the current time domain measurement opportunity. In other words, the network node 110 may transmit the signal only via the set B beams (e.g., which may be associated with a randomly selected subset of CMRs, as described elsewhere herein) for the current time domain measurement opportunity.
[0144] As indicated by reference numeral 730, UE 120 may perform measurements on signals associated with the CMR subset. For example, UE 120 may perform L1 RSRP measurements, L1 SINR measurements, CQI measurements, RI measurements, PMI measurements, and / or LI measurements, etc., on signals associated with a CMR subset (e.g., a CMR subset associated with a time domain measurement occasion at which the measurement occurs). In other words, UE 120 may measure, at a measurement opportunity in a corresponding measurement occasion, a CMR subset from among the CMR subsets that is indicated by an association indication (e.g., signaled to UE 120 as described above) as being associated with the measurement occasion.
[0145] As indicated by reference numeral 735, the UE 120 may use measurements (e.g., performed as described above in conjunction with reference numeral 730) to determine one or more predicted measurements for other CMRs (e.g., not measured). For example, the UE 120 may input measurements performed by the UE 120 and indications of a random pattern or a selection pattern for selecting and determining a subset of CMRs (or beam / spatial / QCL information determined by the UE 120 at least in part based on the pattern) into the AI / ML model. The AI / ML model may output predicted measurement values or parameters associated with the other CMRs, as described in greater detail elsewhere herein. In some aspects, the prediction may be based at least in part on measurements performed at a single time-domain measurement occasion. In other aspects, the prediction may be based at least in part on measurements performed at multiple time-domain measurement occasions (e.g., the UE 120 may input measurements performed at multiple time-domain measurement occasions into the AI / ML model to obtain the prediction(s).
[0146] As indicated by reference numeral 740, the UE 120 may transmit, and the network node 110 may receive, a CSI report including predicted measurement values associated with one or more CMRs. In some aspects, the CSI report may indicate one or more measurements performed by the UE 120 (e.g., as described above in connection with reference numeral 730). For example, the UE 120 may measure a first one or more measurement values associated with a first set of resources from among the measurement values (e.g., as described above in connection with reference numeral 730). The UE 120 may predict a second one or more measurement values associated with a second set of resources from among the measurement values based at least in part on the first one or more measurement values (e.g., as described above in connection with reference numeral 735).
[0147] As a result, the UE 120 may be enabled to use a random pattern of CMRs to be measured (e.g., a random pattern of set B beams) to facilitate beam measurement predictions. For example, the signaling described herein may ensure that the UE 120 and one or more network nodes (e.g., a network node that transmits a signal to be measured by the UE 120 and / or a network node that receives a CSI report) are synchronized as to which beams (e.g., which CMRs) are to be measured by the UE 120 at a given time domain measurement occasion. Enabling the use of a random pattern of CMRs to be measured by the UE 120 (e.g., a random pattern of set B beams) to facilitate beam management predictions may improve the performance and / or accuracy of beam measurement predictions (e.g., because these predictions may not be based on actual beam measurements of a beam associated with obstruction, interference, or another condition that affects the performance of a signal communicated via the beam).
[0148] As indicated above, Figure 7are provided as examples. Other examples may differ from those described in Figure 7 Examples described.
[0149] Figure 8 is a diagram illustrating an example process 800 performed, for example, by a UE in accordance with the present disclosure. Example process 800 is an example in which a UE (eg, UE 120) performs operations associated with signaling for a random measurement beam pattern for beam measurement prediction.
[0150] like Figure 8 As shown in , in some aspects, process 800 may include: receiving configuration information from a network node, the configuration information indicating one or more CMR sets associated with CSI reporting, wherein the configuration information indicates that the UE is to predict measurements of one or more CMRs from the one or more CMR sets, and wherein the configuration information indicates an association between a subset of CMRs from the one or more CMR sets and a corresponding time domain measurement opportunity (block 810). For example, a UE (e.g., using communication manager 140 and / or Fig.10 The receiving component 1002 depicted in the figure may receive configuration information from a network node, the configuration information indicating one or more CMR sets associated with a CSI report, wherein the configuration information indicates that the UE is to predict measurements of one or more CMRs from the one or more CMR sets, and wherein the configuration information indicates an association between a CMR subset from the one or more CMR sets and a corresponding time domain measurement opportunity, as described above.
[0151] like Figure 8 As further shown in FIG. 8 , in some aspects, process 800 may include: measuring, at a time domain measurement opportunity in the corresponding time domain measurement opportunities, a CMR subset from the CMR subsets that is indicated by the association as being associated with the time domain measurement opportunity (block 820). For example, a UE (e.g., using communication manager 140 and / or Fig.10 The measuring component 1008 depicted in FIG. 1 may measure, at a time domain measurement opportunity in the respective time domain measurement opportunities, a CMR subset from the CMR subsets indicated by the association as being associated with the time domain measurement opportunity, as described above.
