AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

When detecting resonant currents, existing resonant converters often use sense resistors or current transformers, resulting in high power loss, high cost and increased circuit complexity.

Method used

By sampling the voltage at one or both ends of the resonant capacitor, high-pass filtering and negative limiting circuits can be used to detect the resonant current, avoiding additional series detection devices in the resonant slot circuit.

Benefits of technology

It reduces the power loss and cost caused by current detection, while reducing the complexity of the circuit.

Abstract

The resonant converter comprises first to fourth transistors, a transformer, a resonant tank circuit, a rectification circuit and a current detection circuit. The transformer includes a primary winding, a first sampling winding, and a secondary winding. The resonant tank circuit is coupled between a first switching node formed by the first transistor and the second transistor and a second switching node formed by the third transistor and the fourth transistor, and comprises a resonant capacitor, a resonant inductor and an excitation inductor of the primary winding which are coupled in series. The rectifier circuit is coupled to both ends of the secondary winding. The first end of the resonant capacitor is coupled to the first end of the first sampling winding, and the second end of the resonant capacitor is coupled to the first switching node. The second end of the first sampling winding provides a first capacitor voltage sampling signal. The current detection circuit provides a current detection signal based on the first capacitor voltage sampling signal. The minimum value of the current detection signal is a threshold value which does not change along with the peak value of the current flowing through the resonant tank circuit, and the part, greater than the threshold value, of the current detection signal represents the current flowing through the resonant tank circuit.
