AI Technical Summary
Existing personal care formulations often contain platinum or tin catalysts and polyether compounds, resulting in skin irritation and uneven morphology of crosslinked silicone elastomer particles difficult to control.
Crosslinked silicone elastomer without polyether compounds was prepared by emulsifying and crosslinking the reaction product of α,ω-dihydroxypoly(diorganosiloxane) and organotrialkoxysilane in the presence of a surfactant, and a spherical silicone elastomer powder was obtained by drying.
A uniformly spherical crosslinked silicone elastomer is achieved without the use of platinum or tin catalysts, avoiding skin irritation and obtaining stable personal care formulations.

Abstract
Description
Technical Field
[0001] The present disclosure relates to personal care compositions comprising crosslinked silicone elastomers. The present disclosure also relates to personal care compositions comprising surfactant-free crosslinked silicone elastomer powders. The present disclosure further relates to personal care compositions free of polyether compounds. Background Art
[0002] Cross-linked silicone elastomers provide luxurious sensory benefits to personal care formulations. These benefits include, but are not limited to, providing a cushioning feel, a matte appearance, and a powdery soft afterfeel. The cross-linked silicone elastomers are often prepared by cross-linking siloxane monomers in the presence of a solvent and shearing the mixture using a high shear mixer to form a smooth gel. See, for example, U.S. Pat. Nos. 4,987,169; 5,654,362; 5,760,116; 6,423,322 and 5,811,487. These cross-linked elastomers often contain catalysts such as platinum or tin because the reaction is carried out in the presence of such catalysts. The morphology or shape of the sheared particles is uneven and difficult to control. JP4860214B describes a method for preparing a cross-linked silicone elastomer having a uniform spherical morphology without using a platinum or tin catalyst. However, these silicone elastomers mentioned in JP4860214B are accompanied by surfactants used during synthesis. In one aspect, these surfactants may be polyether-based surfactants, which are brought into personal care formulations along with the elastomers and may stabilize the personal care formulations. However, polyether compounds and surfactants often irritate the skin. Therefore, there is a need for personal care formulations containing crosslinked silicone elastomers prepared without the use of platinum or tin catalysts and free of polyether compounds. The reactants were stirred and mixed. The temperature was raised to 100°C. While stirring, 0.015 parts of a 30% aqueous solution of tetramethylammonium hydroxide were added as a catalyst. When the reaction lasted for 5 hours, the ethanol produced by the condensation reaction was brought to a reflux state, and the temperature in the flask became 94°C. Thereafter, the temperature was raised to 140°C and the reaction was continued for 2 hours to remove the produced ethanol and decompose the catalyst tetramethylammonium hydroxide. Subsequently, under heating at 140°C and a reduced pressure of 2.6kPa, compounds with a low boiling point were removed. After 3 hours, the reaction was cooled to room temperature to obtain 445 parts of a reactive oil having a viscosity of 470mPa·s.
[0158] Preparation of emulsion of silicone elastomer particles:4.2 parts of sodium lauryl sulfate are dissolved in 90 parts of ion exchange water. Then, 300 parts of reactive oil are added and stirred for 5 minutes. Then, while continuing to stir, 150 parts of ion exchange water are added dropwise within 5 minutes. The mixture is then uniformly emulsified with a colloid mill. Then, the obtained emulsion is transferred to a flask, and 6 parts of 20% sulfuric acid are added under stirring. The reaction is continued at 50°C for 17 hours under stirring. Cool to 30°C under stirring, and then stop the reaction by adding triethanolamine dropwise until the pH reaches 7. An aqueous dispersion of fine particles of silicone elastomer is obtained (hereinafter referred to as "emulsion 1").
