[0002] This patent application claims priority to U.S. patent application No. 17 / 943,692, filed by Ryu et al. on September 13, 2022, entitled “INTER-USE REQUIPMENT COORDINATION FOR BEAMFORMED COMMUNICATIONS,” which is assigned to the assignee of this application and is expressly incorporated herein by reference. Technical Field
[0003] The following relates to wireless communications, including inter-user equipment (UE) coordination (IUC) for beamformed communications. Background Art
[0004] Wireless communication systems are widely deployed to provide various types of communication content, such as voice, video, packet data, messaging, broadcast, etc. These systems may be able to support communication with multiple users by sharing available system resources (e.g., time, frequency, and power). Examples of such multiple access systems include fourth generation (4G) systems (such as long term evolution (LTE) systems, advanced LTE (LTE-A) systems, or LTE-A Pro systems) and fifth generation (5G) systems (which may be referred to as new radio (NR) systems). These systems may employ techniques such as code division multiple access (CDMA), time division multiple access (TDMA), frequency division multiple access (FDMA), orthogonal FDMA (OFDMA), or discrete Fourier transform spread orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (DFT-S-OFDM). A wireless multiple access communication system may include one or more base stations, each of which supports wireless communication of communication devices, which may be referred to as user equipment (UE).
[0005] A multiple access wireless communication system may include one or more network entities, each of which supports wireless communication of devices such as user equipment (UE). Some wireless communication systems may support sidelink communications between UEs. In such systems, UEs may coordinate communications on sidelink resources to avoid interference and conflicts. Summary of the invention
[0006] The described techniques relate to improved methods, systems, devices, and apparatuses that support inter-user equipment (UE) coordination (IUC) for beamformed communications. For example, the described techniques enable integration of UE beamforming with IUC messaging to more efficiently identify and resolve scheduling conflicts between resource reservations using beamformed sidelink communications.
[0007] In some examples, the receiving UE may receive side link control information (SCI) from both the first transmitting UE and the second transmitting UE, and the SCI reserves resources for use by the first transmitting UE and the second transmitting UE. The receiving UE may determine that there is a resource conflict between the resources reserved by the SCI, and the receiving UE may send a resource conflict indication to at least one of the transmitting UEs. For example, if the first beam and the second beam used to receive the first resource reservation and the second resource reservation are substantially overlapped at the receiving UE, the receiving UE may transmit a conflict indication to the transmitting UE that has sent the resource reservation with a lower priority (corresponding to a higher priority value). However, if the first beam and the second beam used by the receiving UE to receive the resource reservation do not overlap significantly, the receiving UE may determine whether there is a conflict between the resource reservations based on the receiving capability of the UE. For example, the receiving UE may not be able to receive on two or more beams at the same time. The receiving UE may use the same beam used to receive the conflicting resource reservation to transmit the resource conflict indication. Similarly, the transmitting UE may use the same beam used to send the resource reservation SCI to receive the conflict indication.

The code may include instructions executable by a processor to: receive a first side link control message including a first side link resource reservation associated with a second UE using a first spatial filter; receive a second side link control message including a second side link resource reservation associated with a third UE using a second spatial filter; and send an IUC message indicating a conflict between the first side link resource reservation and the second side link resource reservation to the second UE or to the third UE based on a relationship between the first spatial filter for receiving the first side link resource reservation and the second spatial filter for receiving the second side link resource reservation.

[0045] Some wireless communication systems may support sidelink or device-to-device communications, where two or more user equipments (UEs) may communicate using a sidelink connection. For example, in a first sidelink mode (e.g., Mode 1), the network manages and assigns resources to be used by the sidelink UE, and in a second sidelink mode (e.g., Mode 2), the UE may determine which resources to use. In Mode 2, the receiving UE may perform channel sensing to determine which resources are available for sidelink transmission, which resources are reserved, and for which resources there may be scheduling conflicts.
[0046] In order to manage resource allocation in mode 2, the UE may support inter-UE coordination (IUC) to effectively coordinate resource usage between UEs. For example, one or more transmitting UEs may select communication resources for future sidelink transmissions to a receiving UE, and one or more transmitting UEs may send one or more indications of the reservation of these resources to a nearby receiving UE via sidelink control information (SCI). The receiving UE may receive multiple resource reservation indications from the transmitting UE via one or more receive beams, and in some cases, may identify conflicts between reserved resources (e.g., the transmitting UE may attempt to reserve the same resources or resources that overlap at least partially in time, frequency, or both). In order to mitigate such conflicts, the receiving UE may send a resource conflict indication (e.g., an IUC message) to at least one of the transmitting UEs to notify the UE of the conflict. Then, based on the received conflict message, the UE receiving the IUC message may discard or reschedule the transmission.
[0047] In order to support efficient conflict determination and IUC signaling for sidelink communication, the UE may further integrate various beamforming considerations with IUC messaging to identify and resolve scheduling conflicts between resource reservations using beamformed sidelink communication. In some examples, a receiving UE (e.g., UE-A) may receive SCIs from both a first transmitting UE and a second transmitting UE, each indicating a resource reservation for the first transmitting UE and the second transmitting UE. The receiving UE may determine that there is a resource conflict between the resources reserved by the SCI, and may send a resource conflict indication (e.g., an IUC message) to one of the transmitting UEs to notify the UE of the determined conflict. In some examples, the receiving UE may determine a resource conflict based on different beams used to receive the SCI from different transmitting UEs. For example, if the first beam and the second beam used to receive the first resource reservation and the second resource reservation substantially overlap at the receiving UE, the receiving UE may transmit a conflict indication to the transmitting UE (e.g., UE-B) that has sent a resource reservation with a lower priority (corresponding to a higher priority value). In some other examples, the first beam and the second beam used by the receiving UE to receive the resource reservation may not overlap significantly. If the beams do not overlap significantly, the receiving UE may determine whether there is a conflict between resource reservations based on various factors such as UE reception capabilities. For example, the receiving UE may not be able to receive on two or more beams at the same time, so if two resources are reserved so that the receiving UE will receive two transmissions on the same beam, the receiving UE may determine that there is a conflict. Therefore, among other aspects of the present disclosure, the receiving UE may determine whether there is a conflict and whether to send an IUC conflict indication based on which beams are associated with resource reservations made by other UEs.
[0048] Additionally, the sending UE may monitor the IUC conflict message using the same beam that it used to transmit the previous resource reservation. Thus, for example, the sending UE may receive the conflict indication using the same beam that the sending UE used to transmit the associated resource reservation SCI. Priority-based rules for handling the case where the UE transmits multiple resource reservations are also described. Additionally, the receiving UE may transmit the resource conflict indication using the same beam that the receiving UE used to receive the conflicting resource reservation.
[0049] Aspects of the present disclosure are first described in the context of a wireless communication system. Aspects of the present disclosure are further illustrated by and described with reference to wireless communication diagrams, time resource diagrams, grid resource diagrams, and process flow diagrams. Aspects of the present disclosure are further illustrated by and described with reference to apparatus diagrams, system diagrams, and flow diagrams related to inter-user equipment coordination for beamforming communications.
[0050] Figure 1 An example of a wireless communication system 100 supporting IUC for beamformed communication according to one or more aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. The wireless communication system 100 may include one or more network entities 105, one or more UEs 115, and a core network 130. In some examples, the wireless communication system 100 may be a long term evolution (LTE) network, an advanced LTE (LTE-A) network, an LTE-A Pro network, a new radio (NR) network, or a network operating according to other systems and radio technologies, including future systems and radio technologies not explicitly mentioned herein.
[0051] The network entities 105 may be dispersed throughout a geographic area to form the wireless communication system 100, and may include devices in different forms or with different capabilities. In various examples, the network entities 105 may be referred to as network elements, mobility elements, radio access network (RAN) nodes, or network equipment, among other nomenclature. In some examples, the network entities 105 and the UE 115 may communicate wirelessly via one or more communication links 125 (e.g., radio frequency (RF) access links). For example, the network entity 105 may support a coverage area 110 (e.g., a geographic coverage area) within which the UE 115 and the network entity 105 may establish one or more communication links 125. The coverage area 110 may be an example of a geographic area within which the network entity 105 and the UE 115 may support signal communications according to one or more radio access technologies (RATs).
[0052] The UEs 115 may be dispersed throughout the coverage area 110 of the wireless communication system 100, and each UE 115 may be stationary or mobile or both stationary and mobile at different times. The UEs 115 may be devices in different forms or with different capabilities. Figure 1 Some example UEs 115 are illustrated in FIG. 1. The UEs 115 described herein may be capable of supporting communication with various types of devices such as Figure 1 Other UEs 115 or network entities 105 are shown communicating.
[0053] As described herein, a node of the wireless communication system 100 (which may be referred to as a network node or a wireless node) may be a network entity 105 (e.g., any network entity described herein), a UE 115 (e.g., any UE described herein), a network controller, an apparatus, a device, a computing system, one or more components, or another suitable processing entity configured to perform any of the techniques described herein. For example, the node may be a UE 115. As another example, the node may be a network entity 105. As another example, a first node may be configured to communicate with a second node or a third node. In one aspect of this example, the first node may be a UE 115, the second node may be a network entity 105, and the third node may be a UE 115. In another aspect of this example, the first node may be a UE 115, the second node may be a network entity 105, and the third node may be a network entity 105. In other aspects of this example, the first node, the second node, and the third node may be different relative to these examples. Similarly, references to UE 115, network entity 105, apparatus, device, computing system, etc. may include disclosure of UE 115, network entity 105, apparatus, device, computing system, etc. as nodes. For example, a disclosure that UE 115 is configured to receive information from network entity 105 also discloses that the first node is configured to receive information from a second node.
[0054] In some examples, the network entities 105 may communicate with the core network 130, or with each other, or both. For example, the network entities 105 may communicate with the core network 130 via one or more backhaul communication links 120 (e.g., according to S1, N2, N3, or other interface protocols). In some examples, the network entities 105 may communicate with each other via the backhaul communication links 120 (e.g., according to X2, Xn, or other interface protocols) directly (e.g., directly between the network entities 105) or indirectly (e.g., via the core network 130). In some examples, the network entities 105 may communicate with each other via the midhaul communication links 162 (e.g., according to the midhaul interface protocol) or the fronthaul communication links 168 (e.g., according to the fronthaul interface protocol) or any combination thereof. The backhaul communication links 120, the midhaul communication links 162, or the fronthaul communication links 168 may be or include one or more wired links (e.g., electrical links, optical fiber links), one or more wireless links (e.g., radio links, wireless optical links), etc. or various combinations thereof. UE 115 may communicate with core network 130 via communication link 155 .
[0055] One or more of the network entities 105 described herein may include or may be referred to as a base station 140 (e.g., a transceiver base station, a radio base station, an NR base station, an access point, a radio transceiver, a Node B, an evolved Node B (eNB), a next-generation Node B, or a Gigabit Node B (any of which may be referred to as a gNB), a 5G NB, a next-generation eNB (ng-eNB), a Home Node B, a Home Evolved Node B, or other suitable terms). In some examples, the network entity 105 (e.g., a base station 140) may be implemented in an aggregated (e.g., monolithic, stand-alone) base station architecture, which may be configured to utilize a protocol stack physically or logically integrated within a single network entity 105 (e.g., a single RAN node, such as a base station 140).
[0056] In some examples, the network entity 105 may be implemented in a disaggregated architecture (e.g., a disaggregated base station architecture, a disaggregated RAN architecture) that may be configured to utilize a protocol stack that is physically or logically distributed between two or more network entities 105, such as an integrated access backhaul (IAB) network, an open RAN (O-RAN) (e.g., a network configuration sponsored by the O-RAN Alliance), or a virtualized RAN (vRAN) (e.g., a cloud RAN (C-RAN)). For example, the network entity 105 may include one or more of the following: a central unit (CU) 160, a distributed unit (DU) 165, a radio unit (RU) 170, a RAN intelligent controller (RIC) 175 (e.g., a near real-time RIC (near RT RIC), a non-real-time RIC (non-RT RIC)), a service management and orchestration (SMO) 180 system, or any combination thereof. The RU 170 may also be referred to as a radio head, a smart radio head, a remote radio head (RRH), a remote radio unit (RRU), or a transmit receive point (TRP). One or more components of the network entity 105 in the decomposed RAN architecture may be co-located, or one or more components of the network entity 105 may be located in distributed locations (e.g., separate physical locations). In some examples, one or more network entities 105 of the decomposed RAN architecture may be implemented as virtual units (e.g., virtual CU (VCU), virtual DU (VDU), virtual RU (VRU)).
[0057] The functional split between CU 160, DU 165, and RU 170 is flexible and may support different functionalities depending on which functions (e.g., network layer functions, protocol layer functions, baseband functions, RF functions, and any combination thereof) are performed at CU 160, DU 165, or RU 170. For example, a functional split of a protocol stack may be employed between CU 160 and DU 165 such that CU 160 may support one or more layers of a protocol stack and DU 165 may support one or more different layers of a protocol stack. In some examples, CU 160 may host higher protocol layer (e.g., layer 3 (L3), layer 2 (L2)) functionality and signaling (e.g., radio resource control (RRC), service data adaptation protocol (SDAP), packet data convergence protocol (PDCP)). The CU 160 may be connected to one or more DUs 165 or RUs 170, and the one or more DUs 165 or RUs 170 may host lower protocol layers, such as layer 1 (L1) (e.g., physical (PHY) layer) or L2 (e.g., radio link control (RLC) layer, medium access control (MAC) layer) functionality and signaling, and may each be at least partially controlled by the CU 160. Additionally or alternatively, a functional split of the protocol stack may be employed between the DUs 165 and RUs 170, such that the DUs 165 may support one or more layers of the protocol stack, and the RUs 170 may support one or more different layers of the protocol stack. The DUs 165 may support one or more different cells (e.g., via one or more RUs 170). In some cases, the functional split between CU 160 and DU 165 or between DU 165 and RU 170 may be within the protocol layer (e.g., some functions of the protocol layer may be performed by one of CU 160, DU 165, or RU 170, while other functions of the protocol layer are performed by different ones of CU 160, DU 165, or RU 170). CU 160 may be further functionally split into CU control plane (CU-CP) and CU user plane (CU-UP) functions. CU 160 may be connected to one or more DUs 165 via midhaul communication links 162 (e.g., F1, F1-c, F1-u), and DU 165 may be connected to one or more RUs 170 via fronthaul communication links 168 (e.g., open fronthaul (FH) interface). In some examples, midhaul communication link 162 or fronthaul communication link 168 may be implemented based on an interface (e.g., a channel) between layers of a protocol stack supported by respective network entities 105 that communicate via such communication links.
[0058] In some wireless communication systems (e.g., wireless communication system 100), infrastructure and spectrum resources for radio access may support wireless backhaul link capabilities to supplement wired backhaul connections, thereby providing an IAB network architecture (e.g., to core network 130). In some cases, in an IAB network, one or more network entities 105 (e.g., IAB nodes 104) may be partially controlled by each other. One or more IAB nodes 104 may be referred to as donor entities or IAB donors. One or more DUs 165 or one or more RUs 170 may be controlled in part by one or more CUs 160 associated with a donor network entity 105 (e.g., donor base station 140). One or more donor network entities 105 (e.g., IAB donors) may communicate with one or more additional network entities 105 (e.g., IAB nodes 104) via supported access and backhaul links (e.g., backhaul communication links 120). The IAB node 104 may include an IAB mobile terminal (IAB-MT) controlled (e.g., scheduled) by a coupled IAB donor's DU 165. The IAB-MT may include an independent set of antennas for relaying communications with the UE 115, or may share the same antennas of the IAB node 104 (e.g., of the RU 170) for access via the DU 165 of the IAB node 104 (e.g., referred to as a virtual IAB-MT (vIAB-MT)). In some examples, the IAB node 104 may include a DU 165 that supports communication links with additional entities (e.g., IAB node 104, UE 115) within a relay chain or configuration (e.g., downstream) of the access network. In such cases, one or more components of the decomposed RAN architecture (e.g., one or more IAB nodes 104 or components of the IAB node 104) may be configured to operate according to the techniques described herein.
[0059] In the case where the techniques described herein are applied to the context of a decomposed RAN architecture, one or more components of the decomposed RAN architecture may be configured to support IUC for beamformed communications as described herein. For example, some operations described as being performed by a UE 115 or a network entity 105 (e.g., a base station 140) may additionally or alternatively be performed by one or more components of the decomposed RAN architecture (e.g., an IAB node 104, a DU 165, a CU 160, a RU 170, a RIC 175, a SMO 180).
[0060] UE 115 may include or may be referred to as a mobile device, a wireless device, a remote device, a handheld device, or a subscriber device, or some other suitable term, where a "device" may also be referred to as a unit, a station, a terminal, or a client, etc. UE 115 may also include or may be referred to as a personal electronic device, such as a cellular phone, a personal digital assistant (PDA), a tablet computer, a laptop computer, or a personal computer. In some examples, UE 115 may include or may be referred to as a wireless local loop (WLL) station, an Internet of Things (IoT) device, an Internet of Everything (IoE) device, or a machine type communication (MTC) device, etc., which may be implemented in various objects such as appliances or vehicles, meters, etc.
[0061] The UE 115 described herein may be capable of communicating with various types of devices, such as other UEs 115, which may sometimes act as relays, as well as network entities 105 and network equipment including macro eNBs or gNBs, small cell eNBs or gNBs, or relay base stations, etc. Figure 1 shown.
[0062] The UE 115 and the network entity 105 may wirelessly communicate with each other via one or more communication links 125 (e.g., access links) using resources associated with one or more carriers. The term "carrier" may refer to a collection of RF spectrum resources having a physical layer structure defined for supporting the communication link 125. For example, a carrier for the communication link 125 may include a portion of an RF spectrum band (e.g., a bandwidth portion (BWP)) that operates according to one or more physical layer channels for a given radio access technology (e.g., LTE, LTE-A, LTE-A Pro, NR). Each physical layer channel may carry acquisition signaling (e.g., synchronization signals, system information), control signaling for coordinating carrier operations, user data, or other signaling. The wireless communication system 100 may support communications with the UE 115 using carrier aggregation or multi-carrier operation. Depending on the carrier aggregation configuration, the UE 115 may be configured with multiple downlink component carriers and one or more uplink component carriers. Carrier aggregation may be used for both frequency division duplex (FDD) and time division duplex (TDD) component carriers. Communication between the network entity 105 and other devices may refer to communication between these devices and any part (e.g., entity, sub-entity) of the network entity 105. For example, the terms "send", "receive", or "communicate" when referring to the network entity 105 may refer to any part of the network entity 105 (e.g., base station 140, CU 160, DU 165, RU 170) of the RAN communicating with another device (e.g., directly or via one or more other network entities 105).
[0063] In some examples, such as in a carrier aggregation configuration, a carrier may also have acquisition signaling or control signaling that coordinates the operation of other carriers. A carrier may be associated with a frequency channel (e.g., an Evolved Universal Mobile Telecommunications System Terrestrial Radio Access (E-UTRA) Absolute RF Channel Number (EARFCN)) and may be identified according to a channel raster for discovery by UE 115. A carrier may operate in a standalone mode, in which case initial acquisition and connection may be made by UE 115 via the carrier, or a carrier may operate in a non-standalone mode, in which case a different carrier (e.g., of the same or different radio access technology) is used to anchor the connection.
[0064] The communication link 125 shown in the wireless communication system 100 may include downlink transmissions (e.g., forward link transmissions) from the network entity 105 to the UE 115, uplink transmissions (e.g., return link transmissions) from the UE 115 to the network entity 105, or both, as well as other transmission configurations. A carrier may carry downlink communications or uplink communications (e.g., in FDD mode), or may be configured to carry downlink communications and uplink communications (e.g., in TDD mode).
[0065] The signal waveform transmitted via the carrier may include multiple subcarriers (e.g., using multi-carrier modulation (MCM) techniques, such as orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) or discrete Fourier transform spread OFDM (DFT-S-OFDM)). In a system employing MCM techniques, a resource element may refer to a resource of one symbol period (e.g., the duration of one modulation symbol) and one subcarrier, where the symbol period and subcarrier spacing may be inversely related. The amount of bits carried by each resource element may depend on the modulation scheme (e.g., the order of the modulation scheme, the coding rate of the modulation scheme, or both), so that a relatively higher amount of resource elements (e.g., in the transmission duration) and a relatively higher modulation scheme order may correspond to a relatively higher communication rate. Wireless communication resources may refer to a combination of RF spectrum resources, time resources, and spatial resources (e.g., spatial layers or beams), and the use of multiple spatial resources may increase the data rate or data integrity used for communication with UE 115.
[0066] The time interval for the network entity 105 or the UE 115 may be expressed as a multiple of a basic time unit, which may be, for example, a sampling period T s =1 / (Δf max ·N f ) seconds, for which Δf max It can represent the supported subcarrier spacing, and N fThe supported discrete Fourier transform (DFT) size may be indicated. The time intervals of the communication resources may be organized according to radio frames, each radio frame having a specified duration (e.g., 10 milliseconds (ms)). Each radio frame may be identified by a system frame number (SFN) (e.g., ranging from 0 to 1023).
[0067] Each frame may include multiple consecutively numbered subframes or time slots, and each subframe or time slot may have the same duration. In some examples, the frame may be divided into subframes (e.g., in the time domain), and each subframe may be further divided into a certain number of time slots. Alternatively, each frame may include a variable number of time slots, and the number of time slots may depend on the subcarrier spacing. Each time slot may include a certain number of symbol periods (e.g., depending on the length of the cyclic prefix appended in front of each symbol period). In some wireless communication systems 100, the time slot may be further divided into a plurality of micro time slots associated with one or more symbols. Excluding the cyclic prefix, each symbol period may be associated with one or more (e.g., N f The duration of a symbol period may depend on the subcarrier spacing or the operating frequency band.
[0068] A subframe, slot, mini-slot, or symbol may be the smallest scheduling unit (e.g., in the time domain) of the wireless communication system 100 and may be referred to as a transmit time interval (TTI). In some examples, the TTI duration (e.g., the amount of symbol periods in a TTI) may be variable. Additionally or alternatively, the smallest scheduling unit of the wireless communication system 100 may be dynamically selected (e.g., in a burst of a shortened TTI (sTTI)).
[0069] According to various techniques, physical channels may be multiplexed using carriers for communication. Physical control channels and physical data channels may be multiplexed for signaling via downlink carriers, for example, using one or more of a time division multiplexing (TDM) technique, a frequency division multiplexing (FDM) technique, or a hybrid TDM-FDM technique. A control region (e.g., a control resource set (CORESET)) of a physical control channel may be defined by a set of symbol periods and may extend across a system bandwidth of a carrier or a subset of that system bandwidth. One or more control regions (e.g., CORESETs) may be configured for a set of UEs 115. For example, one or more UEs in UE 115 may monitor or search a control region for control information according to one or more search space sets, and each search space set may include one or more control channel candidates in one or more aggregation levels arranged in a cascaded manner. The aggregation level of a control channel candidate may refer to the amount of control channel resources (e.g., control channel elements (CCEs)) associated with coded information for a control information format having a given payload size. The search space sets may include a common search space set configured for transmitting control information to multiple UEs 115 , and a UE-specific search space set for transmitting control information to a specific UE 115 .
[0070] The wireless communication system 100 may support synchronous or asynchronous operation. For synchronous operation, the network entities 105 (e.g., base stations 140) may have similar frame timing, and transmissions from different network entities 105 may be approximately aligned in time. For asynchronous operation, the network entities 105 may have different frame timing, and in some examples, transmissions from different network entities 105 may not be aligned in time. The techniques described herein may be used for either synchronous operation or asynchronous operation.
[0071] Some UEs 115 may be configured to employ an operating mode that reduces power consumption, such as half-duplex communication (e.g., a mode that supports unidirectional communication via transmission or reception but does not transmit and receive concurrently). In some examples, half-duplex communication may be performed at a reduced peak rate. Other power-saving techniques for UEs 115 include entering a power-saving deep sleep mode when not engaged in active communications, operating using limited bandwidth (e.g., according to narrowband communications), or a combination of these techniques. For example, some UEs 115 may be configured to operate using a narrowband protocol type that is associated with a defined portion or range (e.g., a set of subcarriers or resource blocks (RBs)) within a carrier, within a guard band of a carrier, or outside a carrier.
[0072] The wireless communication system 100 may be configured to support ultra-reliable communication or low-latency communication or various combinations thereof. For example, the wireless communication system 100 may be configured to support ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC). UE 115 may be designed to support ultra-reliable or low-latency or critical functions. Ultra-reliable communication may include private communication or group communication, and may be supported by one or more services (such as push-to-talk, video, or data). Support for ultra-reliable, low-latency functions may include prioritization of services, and such services may be used for public safety or general commercial applications. The terms "ultra-reliable", "low latency", and "ultra-reliable low latency" are used interchangeably herein.
[0073] In some examples, a UE 115 may be configured to support communication directly with other UEs 115 via a device-to-device (D2D) communication link 135 (e.g., according to a peer-to-peer (P2P), D2D, or sidelink protocol). In some examples, one or more UEs 115 in a group that are performing D2D communication may be within a coverage area 110 of a network entity 105 (e.g., a base station 140, a RU 170), which may support aspects of such D2D communication configured by the network entity 105 (e.g., scheduled by the network entity). In some examples, one or more UEs 115 in such a group may be outside of the coverage area 110 of the network entity 105, or may otherwise be unable or not configured to receive transmissions from the network entity 105. In some examples, a group of UEs 115 communicating via D2D communication may support a one-to-many (1:M) system in which each UE 115 transmits to each of the other UEs 115 in the group. In some examples, network entity 105 may facilitate scheduling of resources for D2D communications. In some other examples, D2D communications may be performed between UEs 115 without involving network entity 105.
[0074] In some systems, the D2D communication link 135 can be an example of a communication channel (such as a sidelink communication channel) between vehicles (e.g., UE 115). In some examples, the vehicles can communicate using vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication, vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication, or some combination of these items. The vehicles can signal information related to traffic conditions, signal scheduling, weather, safety, emergency situations, or any other information related to the V2X system. In some examples, vehicles in the V2X system can communicate with roadside infrastructure (such as roadside units), or communicate with the network via one or more network nodes (e.g., network entity 105, base station 140, RU 170) using vehicle-to-network (V2N) communication, or both.
[0075] The core network 130 may provide user authentication, access authorization, tracking, Internet Protocol (IP) connectivity, and other access, routing, or mobility functions. The core network 130 may be an evolved packet core (EPC) or a 5G core (5GC), which may include at least one control plane entity (e.g., a mobility management entity (MME), an access and mobility management function (AMF)) for managing access and mobility and at least one user plane entity (e.g., a serving gateway (S-GW), a packet data network (PDN) gateway (P-GW), or a user plane function (UPF)) for routing packets or interconnecting to an external network. The control plane entity may manage non-access layer (NAS) functions, such as mobility, authentication, and bearer management of UE 115 served by a network entity 105 (e.g., a base station 140) associated with the core network 130. User IP packets may be delivered through the user plane entity, which may provide IP address allocation and other functions. The user plane entity may be connected to the IP service 150 of one or more network operators. IP services 150 may include access to the Internet, an intranet, an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), or packet-switched streaming services.
[0076] The wireless communication system 100 may operate using one or more frequency bands that may be in the range of 300 megahertz (MHz) to 300 gigahertz (GHz). Generally speaking, the region from 300 MHz to 3 GHz is referred to as the ultra-high frequency (UHF) region or decimeter band because the wavelength ranges from about one decimeter to one meter in length. UHF waves may be blocked or redirected by buildings and environmental features (which may be referred to as clusters), but these waves may be sufficient to penetrate structures so that macro cells provide services to UEs 115 located indoors. Communications using UHF waves may be associated with smaller antennas and shorter ranges (e.g., less than 100 kilometers) than communications using lower frequencies and longer waves in the high frequency (HF) or very high frequency (VHF) portions of the spectrum below 300 MHz.
[0077] The wireless communication system 100 may utilize licensed and unlicensed RF spectrum bands. For example, the wireless communication system 100 may employ license assisted access (LAA), LTE unlicensed (LTE-U) radio access technology, or NR technology using unlicensed bands (such as the 5 GHz industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) band). When operating using unlicensed RF spectrum bands, devices such as the network entity 105 and the UE 115 may employ carrier sensing for conflict detection and avoidance. In some examples, operations using unlicensed bands may be based on a carrier aggregation configuration combined with component carriers operating using licensed bands (e.g., LAA). Operations using unlicensed spectrum may include downlink transmissions, uplink transmissions, P2P transmissions, or D2D transmissions, and the like.
[0078] The network entity 105 (e.g., base station 140, RU 170) or UE 115 may be equipped with multiple antennas that can be used to employ technologies such as transmit diversity, receive diversity, multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication, or beamforming. The antennas of the network entity 105 or UE 115 may be located in one or more antenna arrays or antenna panels, which may support MIMO operations or transmit or receive beamforming. For example, one or more base station antennas or antenna arrays may be co-located at an antenna assembly such as an antenna tower. In some examples, antennas or antenna arrays associated with the network entity 105 may be located at different geographical locations. The network entity 105 may include an antenna array having a collection of multiple rows and columns of antenna ports that the network entity 105 can use to support beamforming for communications with the UE 115. Similarly, the UE 115 may include one or more antenna arrays that may support various MIMO or beamforming operations. Additionally or alternatively, the antenna panel may support RF beamforming for signals sent via the antenna ports.
[0079] Beamforming (which may also be referred to as spatial filtering, directional transmission, or directional reception) is a signal processing technique that may be used at a sender device or a receiver device (e.g., network entity 105, UE 115) to shape or direct an antenna beam (e.g., a transmit beam, a receive beam) along a spatial path between the sender device and the receiver device. Beamforming may be achieved by combining signals conveyed via antenna elements of an antenna array so that some signals propagating along a particular orientation relative to the antenna array experience constructive interference, while other signals experience destructive interference. Adjustments to signals conveyed via antenna elements may include the sender device or the receiver device applying an amplitude offset, a phase offset, or both to signals carried via antenna elements associated with the device. Adjustments associated with each of these antenna elements may be defined by a set of beamforming weights associated with a particular orientation (e.g., relative to the antenna array of the sender device or the receiver device or relative to some other orientation).
[0080] The network entity 105 or UE 115 may use beam scanning techniques as part of a beamforming operation. For example, the network entity 105 (e.g., base station 140, RU 170) may use multiple antennas or antenna arrays (e.g., antenna panels) to perform beamforming operations for directional communication with UE 115. Some signals (e.g., synchronization signals, reference signals, beam selection signals, or other control signals) may be sent multiple times by the network entity 105 along different directions. For example, the network entity 105 may send signals according to different sets of beamforming weights associated with different transmission directions. Transmissions along different beam directions may be used to identify (e.g., by a transmitting device (such as network entity 105), or by a receiving device (such as UE 115)) beam directions for later transmission or reception by the network entity 105.
[0081] Some signals, such as data signals associated with a particular receiving device, may be sent by a transmitting device (e.g., transmitting network entity 105, transmitting UE 115) along a single beam direction (e.g., a direction associated with a receiving device (such as receiving network entity 105 or receiving UE 115)). In some examples, a beam direction associated with transmission along a single beam direction may be determined based on signals sent along one or more beam directions. For example, UE 115 may receive one or more of the signals sent by network entity 105 along different directions, and may report to network entity 105 an indication of the signal received by UE 115 with the highest signal quality or other acceptable signal quality.
[0082] In some examples, transmission by a device (e.g., by network entity 105 or UE 115) may be performed using multiple beam directions, and the device may use a combination of digital precoding or beamforming to generate a combined beam for transmission (e.g., from network entity 105 to UE 115). UE 115 may report feedback indicating precoding weights for one or more beam directions, and the feedback may correspond to a configured set of beams across a system bandwidth or one or more subbands. Network entity 105 may send a reference signal (e.g., a cell-specific reference signal (CRS), a channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS)), which may or may not be precoded. UE 115 may provide feedback for beam selection, which may be a precoding matrix indicator (PMI) or codebook-based feedback (e.g., a multi-panel codebook, a linear combination codebook, a port selection codebook). Although these techniques are described with reference to signals sent along one or more directions by a network entity 105 (e.g., base station 140, RU 170), UE 115 may use similar techniques to send signals multiple times along different directions (e.g., to identify a beam direction for subsequent transmission or reception by UE 115), or to send signals along a single direction (e.g., to send data to a receiving device).
[0083] A receiving device (e.g., UE 115) may perform receiving operations according to multiple receiving configurations (e.g., directional listening) when receiving various signals (such as synchronization signals, reference signals, beam selection signals, or other control signals) from a receiving device (e.g., network entity 105). For example, the receiving device may perform reception according to multiple receiving directions by: receiving via different antenna subarrays, processing received signals according to different antenna subarrays, receiving according to different receiving beamforming weight sets (e.g., different directional listening weight sets) applied to signals received at multiple antenna elements of an antenna array, or processing received signals according to different receiving beamforming weight sets applied to signals received at multiple antenna elements of an antenna array, any of which may be referred to as "listening" according to different receiving configurations or receiving directions. In some examples, the receiving device may use a single receiving configuration to receive along a single beam direction (e.g., when receiving a data signal). A single receive configuration may be aligned along a beam direction determined based on listening according to different receive configuration directions (e.g., a beam direction determined to have the highest signal strength, highest signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), or other acceptable signal quality based on listening according to multiple beam directions).
[0084] UE 115 and network entity 105 may support retransmission of data to increase the likelihood of data being successfully received. Hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback is a technique for increasing the likelihood of correctly receiving data via a communication link (e.g., communication link 125, D2D communication link 135). HARQ may include a combination of error detection (e.g., using a cyclic redundancy check (CRC)), forward error correction (FEC), and retransmission (e.g., automatic repeat request (ARQ)). HARQ may improve throughput at the MAC layer under poor radio conditions (e.g., low signal-to-noise ratio conditions). In some examples, a device may support same-slot HARQ feedback, in which case the device may provide HARQ feedback in a specific time slot for data received via a previous symbol in the time slot. In some other examples, the device may provide HARQ feedback in a subsequent time slot or according to some other time interval.
[0085] In the wireless communication system 100, the UE 115 may perform sidelink communications on one or more sidelink channels. For example, sidelink data transmissions may be performed on a physical sidelink shared channel (PSSCH), sidelink discovery expression transmissions may be performed on a physical sidelink discovery channel (PSDCH) (e.g., to allow neighboring devices to discover each other's presence), SCI transmissions may be performed on a physical sidelink control channel (PSCCH), sidelink feedback transmissions may be performed on a physical sidelink feedback channel (PSFCH), and sidelink broadcast transmissions may be performed on a physical sidelink broadcast channel (PSBCH). Sidelink communications may also include sending a reference signal from one UE 115 to another UE 115.
[0086] UE 115 can use two side link communication modes to communicate. In the first side link mode (mode 1), the network (e.g., a network entity such as a gNB) manages and assigns resources and determines which resources UE 115 uses for side link communication. In the second side link mode (mode 2), UE 115 determines which resources are used for side link communication. That is, mode 2 side link communication can be supported in the absence of a central entity (e.g., such as network entity 105). In mode 2, the receiving UE 115 can perform channel sensing to determine which resources are available for side link transmission, which resources are reserved, and for which resources there may be conflicts. For example, UE 115 can perform channel sensing to determine the resource usage of other nearby side link UEs. The sending UE 115 can send SCI to reserve communication resources for future side link communication. In order to manage resource allocation in mode 2, UE 115 can support IUC to effectively coordinate resource usage between UEs.
[0087] In some cases, in order to improve scheduling and avoid interference and conflict (e.g., in mode 2 sidelink communication), UE 115 may exchange messages such as IUC messages to coordinate communication on sidelink resources. In some specific implementations, IUC message transmission and reception may support two schemes. The first scheme (Scheme 1) may enable the sidelink transmission UE 115 to select or reselect communication resources with the assistance of the sidelink UE 115 nearby. The sidelink UE 115 nearby may indicate which resource they would rather or not prefer the sidelink transmission UE 115 to use for communication. Scheme 1 may be further divided into two parts. First, a request from the transmission UE 115 may trigger the auxiliary information to be sent by another UE 115. Second, satisfying a condition or satisfying a threshold may trigger the transmission of the auxiliary information by the transmission UE. In the second scheme (Scheme 2), the transmission UE 115 may select a communication resource and send a resource reservation, and the sidelink UE 115 nearby may indicate to the sidelink transmission UE 115 that the sidelink UE 115 has a conflict with one of the resources selected by the transmission UE 115.
[0088] In some examples, UE 115 may reserve resources and communicate resource conflicts using the techniques of Scheme 2 IUC. A receiving UE 115 (e.g., UE-A) may receive two transmit resource reservations from two transmit UEs 115, and these resources may overlap (e.g., partially or completely). In some examples, a receiving UE 115 may be an identified recipient of one or more resource reservations in the resource reservations, or a destination UE 115. A transmitting UE 115 may reserve transmit resources to transmit to a receiving UE 115, where the receiving UE 115 is a destination UE. A receiving UE 115 (e.g., UE-A) may determine to which transmitting UE 115 a resource conflict indication is sent, and the receiving UE 115 may send a resource conflict indication to the determined UE 115 (e.g., UE-B). The resource conflict indication sent to UE-B (e.g., transmitting UE 115) may indicate that one or more resources are in conflict. A receiving UE-B (e.g., transmitting UE 115) may select another transmit resource.
[0089] This article describes a technique for integrating UE beamforming with IUC messaging to more efficiently identify and resolve scheduling conflicts between resource reservations using beamformed sidelink communications. In some examples, a receiving UE 115 may receive SCI from both a first transmitting UE 115 and a second transmitting UE 115. A receiving UE 115 (e.g., UE-A) may determine that there is a resource conflict and send a resource conflict indication to the transmitting UE. For example, if the first beam and the second beam for receiving the first resource reservation and the second resource reservation overlap substantially at the receiving UE 115, the receiving UE 115 may transmit a conflict indication to the transmitting UE 115 that has sent a resource reservation with a lower priority (corresponding to a higher priority value). The transmitting UE 115 with a lower priority may be identified as UE-B. In some other examples, the first beam and the second beam used by the receiving UE 115 to receive the resource reservation may not overlap significantly. If the beams do not overlap significantly, the UE 115 may determine whether there is a conflict, e.g., the receiving UE 115 may not be able to receive on two or more beams at the same time. The receiving UE 115 may transmit a resource conflict indication using the same beam used to receive the conflicting resource reservation. Similarly, the sending UE 115 may receive the conflict indication using the same beam it used to send the resource reservation SCI, and the sending UE 115 may determine which beam receives the conflict indication based on the priority level of the scheduled resources.
[0090] Figure 2 An example of a wireless communication system 200 supporting IUC for beamforming communication according to one or more aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. For example, the wireless communication system 200 may support sidelink communication between UE 115-a and UE 115-b, which may be reference UEs. Figure 1 Examples of UE 115 are described. For example, UE 115-a may be an example of UE-A, and UE 115-b may be an example of UE-B.
[0091] UE 115-a and UE 115-b may communicate via sidelink channel 205-a and sidelink channel 205-b. In some examples, UE 115-a (e.g., receiving UE-A) may receive resource reservation 210 from UE 115-b (e.g., transmitting UE-B). UE 115-a may determine potential conflicts associated with resource reservation 210 and may send resource conflict indication 215 to UE 115-b to indicate one or more possible or expected resource conflicts. Resource reservation 210 may include SCI information for reserving one or more resources, and resource conflict indication 215 may include an IUC indication. UE 115-b may send a resource reservation 210 to UE 115-a to notify UE 115-a of the reserved resources, and then UE 115-b may receive a resource conflict indication 215 from UE 115-a, and UE 115-b may select or reselect resources based on the resource conflict indication 215.
[0092] UE 115-a may detect an expected or potential resource conflict associated with an SCI transmitted by UE 115-b. In some examples, UE 115-a may be a destination UE for a conflicting transport block scheduled by UE 115-b, where resources reserved for sending the transport block may also be conflicting. In some examples, another UE may receive a transport block sent by UE 115-b, and may pre-configure whether the other UE is defined as UE 115-a. UE 115-b may send a resource reservation 210 on a PSCCH or PSSCH indicating reserved resources to be used for transmission, which may include an SCI. UE 115-b may receive a resource conflict indication 215 from UE 115-a indicating a potential resource conflict for the reserved resources, such as information included in an IUC message, and UE 115-b may perform resource reselection based on the resource conflict indication 215. In some examples, a bit (e.g., IndicationUEB) may be included in the SCI (e.g., Format 1-A) to indicate whether the UE scheduling the conflicting transport block is UE 115-b (e.g., UE-B) or whether the UE scheduling the conflicting transport block is not UE 115-b (e.g., if the bit indicationUEBScheme2 is preconfigured to be enabled). Scheme 2 IUC may be enabled, disabled, or may be preconfigured.
[0093] In some examples, UE 115-a may detect potential resource conflicts and, based on various beamforming implementations, transmit resource conflict indication 215. For example, in some cases, UE 115-a may determine whether a conflict exists for resource reservation 210 based on different beams used by UE 115-a to receive resource reservation 210, based on whether UE 115-a is an intended recipient of a transmission associated with resource reservation 210, or based on both.
[0094] Figure 3A An example of a wireless communication system 300 supporting IUC for beamforming communication according to one or more aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. For example, the wireless communication system 300 may support communication between UE 115-c, UE 115-d, UE 115-e, and UE 115-f, which may be reference UEs. Figure 1 and Figure 2 Examples of UE 115 are described. For example, UE 115-c may be an example of UE-A, and UE 115-d, UE 115-c, and UE 115-d may be examples of UE-B.
[0095] Resource conflict indications 315-a, 315-b, and 315-c may be as shown in FIG. Figure 2 The resource reservations 310-a, 310-b, and 310-c may be as described in reference to Figure 2 An example of resource reservation 210 is depicted. The UE may communicate via sidelink 320-a, 320-b, or 320-c.
[0096] In some examples, such as in the case of communication support scheme 2 IUC, UE 115-c may determine one of two possible UEs in a priority order to send a resource conflict indication 315. For example, a priority value (e.g., from 0 to 7) may be assigned to the UE's reservation, where a lower priority value (e.g., 0) is associated with a higher priority reservation or transmission, and a higher priority value (e.g., 7) may be associated with a lower priority reservation or transmission. For example, UE 115-c may receive resource reservation 310-a from UE 115-d and resource reservation 310-b from UE 115-e. UE 115-c may determine that resource reservations 310-a and 310-b are conflicting for future data transmissions. UE 115-c may determine to send a resource conflict indication 315 (e.g., such as an IUC indication) to the UE with the reservation having a lower priority (e.g., a higher priority value). For example, if UE 115-d has a priority value of 0 and UE 115-e has a priority value of 7, UE 115-c may determine to send a resource conflict indication 315-b to UE 115-e (in this example, UE 115-e may be a receiving UE). If the reservation of UE 115-d has a priority value of 7 and the reservation of UE 115-e has a priority value of 0, UE 115-c may send a resource conflict indication 315-a to UE 115-d. UE 115-d may reselect resources based on the resource conflict indication 315-a. In some examples, one of the transmitting UEs (e.g., UE 115-d, UE 115-e, and UE 115-f) may be an interfering UE.
[0097] In some other examples, UE 115-c may determine one of three or more possible UEs in order of priority to send resource conflict indication 315. For example, UE 115-c may receive resource reservation 310-a from UE 115-d, resource reservation 310-b from UE 115-c, and resource reservation 310-c from UE 115-f. UE 115-c may determine that resource reservation 310 is in conflict. UE 115-c may determine to send resource conflict indication 315 (e.g., IUC indication) to one or more UEs in UE 115 having reservations with lower priority (e.g., higher priority value). For example, if the reservation of UE 115-d has a priority value of 4, the reservation of UE 115-e has a priority value of 0, and the reservation of UE 115-f has a priority value of 7, UE 115-c may determine to send a resource conflict indication 315-a to UE 115-d and to send a resource conflict indication 315-c to UE 115-f. UE 115-d and UE 115-f may reselect resources based on resource conflict indication 315-a and resource conflict indication 315-c, respectively.
[0098] In some examples, UE 115-d, UE 115-e, and UE 115-d may not send resource reservation 310 to UE 115-c. However, UE 115-c may still detect interference and send resource conflict indication 315.
[0099] Figure 3B An example of a grid resource diagram 301 of an IUC supporting beamforming communications according to one or more aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. For example, the grid resource diagram 301 illustrates a Figure 3A The resource reservation 310 described above. Reserved resources 305-a, reserved resources 305-b, and reserved resources 305-c may be examples of resources reserved by one or more UEs, which may be as described in reference Figures 1 to 3A In some examples, resources may be provided by reference to Figure 3A The described UE 115-d, UE 115-e and UE 115-f are reserved.
[0100] In some examples, such as reference Figure 3A The UEs described in further detail may reserve one or more resources that may interfere with each other or otherwise overlap. For example, two UEs may reserve the same resources, where at least one of the UEs transmits to UE 115-c, as described in reference Figure 3A UE 115-c may or may not be the destination UE of the resource reservation indication.
[0101] In some examples, UE 115-c may not be a destination UE associated with a resource reservation for a reserved resource. However, the ability for a non-destination UE to send an IUC conflict indication may be enabled (e.g., typeAUEScheme2 is enabled). Thus, if UE 115-c is not a destination UE, UE 115-c may still send an IUC conflict indication to another UE that has reserved conflicting resources to send to a different UE. In some examples, such as if typeAUEScheme2 is enabled, UE 115-c may send a resource conflict indication 315 to any UE in UE 115 that has reserved conflicting resources (e.g., reserved resources 305), regardless of whether UE 115-c is a destination UE for resource reservation 310. For example, as described in reference to Figure 3A As further described, UE 115-e may reserve one or more resources, including reserved resources 305-a and reserved resources 305-b. Figure 3AUE 115-d further described may reserve the reserved resources 305-b, and UE 115-f may reserve the reserved resources 305-b. UE 115-a may receive the resource reservation, and UE 115-a may determine a resource reservation conflict. If the resource reservation associated with UE 115-e has the highest priority (lowest priority value), UE 115-c may send a conflict indication to UE 115-d to switch from the reserved resources 305-a to another resource, and UE 115-c may send a conflict indication to UE 115-f to switch from the reserved resources 305-b to another resource. UE 115-e may then use the reserved resources 305-a and the reserved resources 305-b to send communications.
[0102] UE 115-a may determine one or more UEs 115 to send a conflict indication for each reserved resource 305-a. For example, if UE 115-d and UE 115-f both reserve the reserved resource 305-a, UE 115-d may send a conflict indication to the UE 115 with the lowest priority. If UE 115-d and UE 115-e both reserve the reserved resource 305-b, UE 115-d may send a conflict indication to the UE 115 with the lowest priority. The UE 115 that transmits using the reserved resources may or may not be the same for the reserved resource 305-a and the reserved resource 305-b.
[0103] In some examples, UE 115-c may be a destination UE 115 for the resource reservation indication, or UE 115-c may not be a non-destination UE 115. The role of UE 115-c as a destination UE may be disabled (e.g., typeAUEScheme2 is disabled). In some examples, such as if typeAUEScheme2 is disabled, UE 115-c may use conflicting resources (e.g., reserved resources 305) to send a conflict indication 315 to UE 115-c. For example, UE 115-d may have a priority value of 4, UE 115-e may have a priority value of 0, and UE 115-f may have a priority value of 3. Reserved resources 305-a may be reserved by UE 115-e and UE 115-d. For a conflict of reserved resources 305-a, UE 115-c may determine to send a conflict indication to UE 115-d due to the lower priority value (higher priority) of the resource reservation associated with UE 115-e. Reserved resources 305-b may be reserved by UE 115-d and UE 115-f. For a conflict of reserved resources 305-b, UE 115-f may have a lower priority and may therefore receive a conflict indication. However, if the destination UE corresponding to the reserved resources 305-b reserved by UE 115-f is not UE 115-c, and the non-destination UE used as the destination UE is disabled, UE 115-c may not be able to send a conflict indication. Reserved resources 305-c may be reserved by UE 115-e and UE 115-f. UE 115-c may be the destination of transmissions of UE 115-e corresponding to reserved resources 305-c, but not the destination of transmissions of UE 115-f corresponding to reserved resources 305-c. UE 115-c may not send a conflict indication to UE 115-f having a lower priority because UE 115-c is not the destination UE for UE 115-f, and the ability of UE 115-c to function as a destination UE when not being the destination UE is disabled.
[0104] UE 115-c may determine an expected or potential conflict of reserved resources 305-a, 305-b, and 305-c based on at least one or more conditions. First, if one or more reserved resources partially or completely overlap in time and frequency with one or more resources of another UE (e.g., indicated by SCI), a reserved resource conflict may exist. Conflicting reservations may occur when "non-destination UE used as destination UE" (e.g., typeAUEScheme2) is enabled or when the destination UE is UE 115-c and "non-destination UE used as destination UE" (typeAUEScheme2) is disabled.
[0105] In some examples, for each pair of UEs that schedule conflicting reserved resources and whose PSFCH opportunity for resource conflict indication has not yet occurred, the indicationUEB flag may be set to 1 if the higher parameters of indicationUEBScheme2 are (pre-)configured to "enabled". In such examples, the UE with a higher priority value (lower priority resource reservation) may be designated as UE-B, or the UE to receive the resource conflict indication. When the UEs in the pair have the same priority value, UE-A or the UE sending the resource conflict indication may determine, by UE specific implementation, that one of the UEs receives the resource conflict indication.
[0106] When determining which UE is to receive a resource conflict indication (e.g., to be UE-B), UE-A (e.g., UE 115-c) may include an SCI received earlier than or equal to a threshold time duration (e.g., sl-MinTimeGapPSFCH) before a PSFCH opportunity for a conflict indication. For example, if the sl-MinTimeGapPSFCH criterion or threshold is not met for UE 115-f, UE 115-c may not send a resource conflict indication 315-c. However, there may still be a conflict between resource reservations. In some examples, the time between the PSFCH opportunity and the reserved resources may be 3, 5, 9, 18 logical time slots for SCS 15kHz, 30kHz, 60kHz, and 120kHz, respectively.
[0107] Thus, in one example of resource conflict, for each conflicting resource, UE 115-c (e.g., UE-A) determines a set of potential UE-Bs (UEs whose transmissions will overlap in the conflicting resources). UE 115-c selects a UE from the set of potential UE-Bs as UE-B based on priority. If a non-destination UE (e.g., typeAUEScheme2) used as a destination UE is disabled, the set of potential UE-Bs may include the target transmitter of UE 115-c. In some other examples, the set of potential UE-Bs includes all nearby transmitting UEs and the target transmitter of UE 115-c.
[0108] In addition, UE 115-c may determine resource conflicts for overlapping resources based on an RSRP threshold. The threshold may depend on the priority of the UE (e.g., the priority of UE-B and other UEs). In some examples, UE 115-c is a destination UE for other UEs. For example, both UE 115-d and UE 115-e may reserve resources 305-a. If the RSRP of UE 115-e is greater than the RSRP threshold, UE 115-c may determine that there is a conflict for the reserved resources 305-a. Then, UE 115-c may send a conflict indication to UE 115-d. In some other examples, UE 115-d and UE 115-f may reserve the reserved resources 305-c. If the RSRP of UE 115-f is greater than the RSRP threshold, UE 115-c may determine that there is a conflict for the reserved resources 305-c. In such a case, UE 115-c may send a conflict indication to UE 115-f.
[0109] In a second example of resource conflict, one or more resources (e.g., one or more time slots) may be reserved by a transmitting UE. UE 115-c (e.g., UE-A) may be configured with half-duplex operation and, therefore, may not be able to perform sidelink reception concurrently with sidelink transmission. In such an example, a resource conflict may exist, such as if UE 115-c is a destination UE for a transmitting UE (e.g., UE-B).
[0110] In some examples, the UE may send a conflict indication message via the PSFCH (or may otherwise indicate a side link resource conflict). For example, PSFCH format 0 from UE 115-c may be used to indicate an expected or potential resource conflict on one or more reserved resources indicated by the SCI of the sending UE. In order to allocate PSFCH resources in Scheme 2, at least the sl-PSFCH-Conflict-RB-Set for conflict indication may be pre-configured separately from the sl-PSFCH-RB-Set for side link HARQ-ACK feedback. In some examples, UE 115-c may be configured with different physical resource blocks, which may be pre-configured for sending conflict indications, HARQ-ACK information, or both. The index of the PSFCH resource for IUC information transmission may be determined according to various methods and parameters. For example, a layer 1 resource identifier (e.g., P_ID) may be indicated by the SCI that sends the SCI. In addition, for a resource conflict indication for the next reserved resource transmitted for the current or next resource (e.g., transport block) indicated by the SCI of the transmitting UE, M_ID may be set to 0, m_CS may be set to 0, and m_0 for the resource conflict indication may be derived in the same manner as specified for the HARQ-ACK information.
[0111] To resolve the identified resource conflict, UE 115-c may reposition the intended transmission to avoid interference, reposition the interfering transmission to prevent interference, or reposition a transmission to prevent the conflict. For example, if UE 115-c is the destination UE for resource reservation 310-a of UE 115-d, and UE 115-c transmits resource reservation 310-b with a higher priority than UE 115-d, UE 115-c may reposition resource reservation 310-a (e.g., the intended transmission of UE 115-d). If UE 115-c is not the destination UE for resource reservation 310-a of UE 115-d, and UE 115-c is the destination UE for resource reservation 310-b of UE 115-e, and UE 115-e has a higher priority than UE 115-d, UE 115-c may reposition the interfering resource reservation 310-a (e.g., the interfering transmission of UE 115-d). If UE 115-c is the destination UE for resource reservation 310-a of UE 115-d and is the destination UE for resource reservation 310-b of UE 115-e, and UE 115-e has a higher priority than UE 115-d, UE 115-c may reposition the interfering resource reservation 310-a (e.g., reposition one transmission to prevent a collision). In some examples, if the RSRP of UE 115-d is greater than an RSRP threshold, UE 115-d may discontinue reception of resource reservation 310-b, even though resource reservation 310-b has a higher priority.
[0112] Figure 4 An example of a time resource diagram 400 for supporting IUC for beamforming communications according to one or more aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. For example, the time resource diagram 400 describes the Figure 3B The PSFCH timing for conflict indication is described. The horizontal axis of the time resource diagram 400 indicates time, and the vertical axis of the time resource diagram 400 indicates frequency. The frequency is split into subchannel 405-a and subchannel 405-b, and is further divided into additional subchannels. Along the time axis, time slots may appear in different time periods. Figure 4 Two options may be described. Slots 410-a and 410-b may depict a first option, where PSFCH opportunities are derived from slots where resource reservations are sent as part of the SCI. Slots 410-c and 410-d may depict a second option, where PSFCH opportunities are derived from slots where expected or potential resource conflicts occur on PSSCH resources indicated by resource reservations as part of the SCI. Resource pool level pre-configuration may use one of two options to determine the resources for PSFCH transmissions for conflict indications.
[0113] The first option (e.g., option 1) may include an example where the PSFCH opportunity is derived from the time slot in which UE B sends SCI. In some examples, no option may be configured. Two time slots may be associated with the PSFCH time slot of option 1: time slot 410-a and time slot 410-b. SCI 415 may be SCI information from UE-B, and SCI 415 may be in subchannel 405-a and time slot 410-b. SCI 415 may reserve resources for time slot 410-c, thereby generating a resource conflict.
[0114] Option 1 may be followed by a time gap 420-a, followed by resources 425. Resources 425 may be split into subchannels, and each subchannel may include resource 0 and resource 1. UE-A may identify one or more resources in resources 425 to indicate a conflict for option 1. For example, UE-A may reserve the first resource of each subchannel 405-a and the first resource of subchannel 405-b. UE-A may reserve resource 1 of subchannel 405-c and resource 1 of subchannel 405-e.
[0115] Option 1 may include PSSCH to PSFCH timing for determining a PSFCH opportunity for a resource conflict indication. The time gap 420-b between the PSFCH and the time slot where an expected or potential resource conflict occurs may be greater than or equal to a threshold. If there is a PSFCH opportunity that satisfies the minimum time gap 420-a (e.g., sl-MinTimeGapPSFCH) between the PSFCH opportunity and the time slot in which the SCI is sent, but does not satisfy the minimum time gap 420-b between the PSFCH opportunity and the time slot of the earliest reserved PSSCH resource indicated by the corresponding SCI after the PSFCH opportunity, the PSFCH opportunity may not be used by the receiving UE (e.g., UE A) for conflict indications of reserved PSSCH resources other than the earliest reserved PSSCH resource indicated by the corresponding SCI after the PSFCH opportunity.
[0116] Following resource 425 may be time slot 420-b, followed by a second option (e.g., option 2). Option 2 may describe when a PSFCH opportunity is derived from a time slot in which an expected or potential resource conflict occurs on a PSSCH resource indicated by a transmitting UE (e.g., UE-B), including an SCI, and may include time slot 410-c and time slot 410-d. UE-A may identify one or more resources in resource 425 to indicate a conflict for option 2. For example, UE-A may reserve the last resource of each subchannel, such as the last resource of subchannel 405-a and the last resource of subchannel 405-b. UE-A may reserve resource 0 for subchannel 405-d and resource 0 for subchannel 405-f. In some examples, sl-PSFCH-Period is equal to 2, which may indicate that there are two subchannels in the resource pool.
[0117] Resource pool level configuration (or pre-configuration) may implement option 2 for resource conflict indication in some cases. In some examples, UE-A may send PSFCH in the latest time slot that includes PSFCH resources for IUC information and is at least the time gap 420-a of the resource pool before the PSSCH resources in which the expected or potential resource conflict occurs as indicated by the SCI sent by UE B. The time gap 420-a between the PSFCH and the SCI scheduling the conflicting resources 425 is greater than or equal to sl-MinTimeGapPSFCH. If the timeline is not met, the UE does not send a conflict indicator or does not receive a conflict indicator.
[0118] In some cases, the time resource diagram 400 may allow the UE to determine whether a resource conflict exists for a certain amount of available or scheduled resources. Additionally or alternatively, the UE may detect potential resource conflicts and transmit resource conflict indications based on various beamforming implementations combined with known resource reservations. For example, in some cases, the UE may determine whether a conflict indication exists for a resource reservation based on different beams used by the UE to receive the resource reservation, based on whether the UE is an intended recipient of a transmission associated with the resource reservation, or based on both.
[0119] Figure 5A An example of a wireless communication system 500 that supports IUC for beamformed communications according to one or more aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. For example, the wireless communication system 500 depicts beamformed communications between UE 115-g, UE 115-h, and UE 115-i (e.g., UE A, UE 1, and UE 2), each of which may be an example of a UE described herein.
[0120] UE 115-g (eg, UE 1) may be as described in reference Figure 1 In the example of UE-B described above, UE 115-h may be as shown in FIG. Figure 1 The example of UE-A described in the foregoing, and UE 115-i (e.g., UE 2) may be as described in reference Figure 1 1 and 115-i. UE 115-g and UE 115-i may both be examples of potential UE-B as described with reference to the IUC application. UE 115-g may transmit beam 505-a, UE 115-h may transmit beam 505-b and beam 505-c, and UE 115-i may transmit beam 505-d.
[0121] In a first example, UE 115-h may not be the destination UE for the resource reservation of UE 115-g. UE 115-h may be the intended destination UE for the resource reservation of UE 115-i. UE 115-h may receive the resource reservation (e.g., SCI) from UE 115-g using beam 505-b and may receive the resource reservation from UE 115-i using beam 505-c. Thus, if both UE 115-g and UE 115-i reserve the same resources (e.g., reserved resources 510-a, which are described in reference to FIG. 5 ), UE 115-h may be the intended destination UE for the resource reservation of UE 115-i. Figure 5C 115-i, while UE 115-g uses the reserved resources to transmit to a different UE.
[0122] In a second example, UE 115-h may be the intended destination UE for both UE 115-g and UE 115-i. Figure 5C As described, UE 115-g may reserve the reserved resources 510-a, and UE 115-i may reserve resources 510-b. The reserved resources may overlap in time, but may not overlap in frequency. UE 115-h may use beam 505-b to receive resource reservations from UE 115-g, and use beam 505-c to receive resource reservations from UE 115-i. Beam 505-c and beam 505-b used by UE 115-h to receive resource reservations may not substantially overlap. In such examples, UE 115-h determines that there is a resource conflict because UE 115-h may not be able to use two different beams at the same time. Then, based on the determined resource conflict, UE 115-h may send a conflict indication to UE 115-g or UE 115-i (e.g., the UE with a higher priority value).
[0123] Figure 5B An example of a wireless communication system 501 supporting IUC for beamformed communications according to one or more aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. For example, the wireless communication system 501 depicts beamformed communications between UE 115-g, UE 115-h, and UE 115-i (e.g., UE A, UE 1, and UE 2), each of which may be an example of a UE described herein.
[0124] UE 115-g may be an example of UE-B as described with reference to FIG. 3, UE 115-h may be an example of UE-A as described with reference to FIG. 3, and UE 115-i may be an example of UE-C as described with reference to FIG. 3. UE 115-g may transmit beam 505-g, UE 115-h may transmit beam 505-f, and UE 115-i may transmit beam 505-e. In some examples, UE 1 and UE 2 may be examples of receiving UEs. Both UE 1 and UE 2 may be examples of potential UE-B as described with reference to the IUC application.
[0125] In this example, UE 115-g and UE 115-i reserve the same resources (e.g., as shown in FIG. Figure 5C 505-f), and UE 115-h may be the destination UE for UE 115-g. UE 115-h may use beam 505-f to receive resource reservations from UE 115-g and UE 115-i. In this example, UE 115-h has a resource conflict because UE 115-h may not be able to use a single beam 505-f to receive communications on the same reserved resources.
[0126] Figure 5C An example of a block resource diagram 502 of an IUC supporting beamforming communications according to one or more aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. The block resource diagram 502 may be illustrated as shown in FIG. Figure 5A and Figure 5B Various resources reserved by UE 115-h, UE 115-g, and UE 115-i are described.
[0127] For example, both UE 115-g and UE 115-i may reserve resource 510-a. If UE 115-h has two available beams and UE 115-h is a destination UE for one of the UEs, there is no resource conflict. If UE 115-h has two beams, one UE reserves reserved resource 510-a and one UE reserves resource 510-b, and UE 115-h is a destination for both UEs, there is a resource conflict. If both UE 115-g and UE 115-i reserve the reserved resource 510-a, UE 115-h has one beam and is a destination UE for one of the UEs, there is a resource conflict.
[0128] Fig. 6AAn example of a wireless communication system 600 supporting IUC for beamformed communication according to one or more aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. The wireless communication system 600 depicts communication of resource reservations 610 and resource conflict indications 620 between multiple UEs. For example, the wireless communication system may illustrate communication between UE 115-k, UE 115-1, and UE 115-m, which may be examples of UE 115 described herein.
[0129] UE 115-k may be as shown in FIG. Figure 1 3, and UE 115-m (e.g., UE 2) may be an example of UE-C as described with reference to FIG. 3. Both UE 1 and UE 2 may be examples of potential UE-B as described with reference to the IUC application. UE 115-k may transmit beams 615-a and 615-b that may at least partially overlap, and UE 115-l may transmit beam 615-c.
[0130] UE 115-k may use beam 615-a to receive resource reservation 610 from UE 115-l via SCI and use beam 615-b to receive resource reservation from UE 115-m via SCI. For example, UE 115-l and UE 115-m may reserve resource reservations as described in reference Figure 5C 5. The reserved resources 510-a described above. Beam 615-a and beam 615-b may overlap in spatial coverage. In some examples, beam 615-a and beam 615-b may substantially overlap, such as if the beams are directed in similar directions and the main lobes overlap. If there is a substantial overlap (e.g., greater than a threshold overlap), UE 115-k may determine that there is a resource conflict, and UE 115-k may send a conflict indication to UE 115 having a higher priority value (e.g., the lowest priority reservation).
[0131] UE 115-k may also send a conflict indication using the beam used to receive the resource reservation. For example, if UE 115-k receives resource reservation 610 from UE 115-1 using beam 615-a, UE 115-k may send resource conflict indication 620 using beam 615-a. If UE 115-1 sends resource reservation 610 using beam 615-c, UE 115-1 may receive resource conflict indication 620 using beam 615-c.
[0132] Figure 6BAn example of a wireless communication system 601 supporting IUC for beamforming communications according to one or more aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. For example, the wireless communication system 601 depicts communications associated with a UE 115-n and associated beams, which may be as described in reference to Figure 1 An example of UE-B is described.
[0133] In some examples, the PSFCH conflict indication opportunity is mapped to multiple reservations sent by UE 115-n via PSFCH 605 on multiple beams. For example, UE 115-n may reserve resources that overlap in time but may be different in frequency, or UE 115-n may reserve the same resources for a later transmission to a second UE. In some examples, UE 115-n may not be able to receive on multiple beams at the same time. For example, UE 115-n may not be able to receive on beam 615-d and beam 615-e at the same time. However, in some cases, the second UE may send a conflict indication to UE 115-n to notify UE 115-n of the possible conflict. UE 115-n may determine the reservation with the highest priority value and use the beam corresponding to the highest priority value reservation (e.g., the lowest priority reservation) to receive the conflict indication for the beam.
[0134] Figure 7 An example of a process flow 700 for supporting IUC for beamforming communications according to one or more aspects of the present disclosure is illustrated. The process flow 700 describes the communication of IUC between UE 115-o, UE 115-p, and UE 115-q, each of which may be an example of UE 115 as described herein. Alternative examples of the following process flow may be implemented, in which some steps are performed in a different order than described or not performed at all. In some cases, the steps may include additional features not mentioned below, or additional steps may be added.
[0135] UE 115-o may be as shown in FIG. Figure 1 In the example of UE-A described above, UE 115-p may be as shown in FIG. Figure 1 The described example is an example of UE-B, and UE 115-q may be an example of UE-C.
[0136] At 705, UE 115-p may send a first SCI message to UE 115-o. UE 115-o may be a first UE and UE 115-p may be a second UE. The first UE may receive a first side link control message including a first side link resource reservation associated with the second UE using a first spatial filter (e.g., corresponding to a first beam). The first side link resource reservation may indicate a first side link resource reserved by the second UE for transmission to the first UE.
[0137] At 710, UE 115-q may send a second SCI message to UE 115-o. UE 115-q may be a third UE. UE 115-o may receive a second side link control message including a second side link resource reservation associated with the third UE using a second spatial filter (e.g., corresponding to a second beam). The second side link resource reservation may indicate a second side link resource reserved by the third UE for transmission to a fourth UE or the first UE.
[0138] At 715, UE 115-o may determine that resource reservations overlap. For example, UE 115-o may determine that a first beam corresponding to a first spatial filter at least partially overlaps with a second beam corresponding to a second spatial filter. In some examples, the first side link resource reservation and the second side link resource reservation at least partially overlap in time and frequency. Based on a quasi co-location (QCL) relationship between the first spatial filter and the second spatial filter, the first beam corresponding to the first spatial filter may at least partially overlap with the second beam corresponding to the second spatial filter.
[0139] UE 115-o may determine that a first beam corresponding to a first spatial filter at least partially overlaps with a second beam corresponding to a second spatial filter. This may be determined by determining that a signal power for signaling received from a third UE using the first spatial filter satisfies a threshold, a signal power for signaling received from a second UE using the second spatial filter satisfies a threshold, the first spatial filter and the second spatial filter are the same, or the first spatial filter and the second spatial filter have the same spatial receiver parameters. Overlap may be determined by determining that a first side link resource reservation and a second side link resource reservation at least partially overlap in time, wherein sending an IUC message to the second UE or to the third UE indicating a conflict between the first side link resource reservation and the second side link resource reservation is based on the first side link resource reservation and the second side link resource reservation at least partially overlapping in time.
[0140] At 720, UE 115-o may compare one or more priorities associated with the conflicting resource reservations. For example, UE 115-o may compare a first priority value of a first side link resource reservation associated with the second UE with a second priority value of a second side link resource reservation associated with the third UE, or UE 115-o may compare a first priority value of a first side link resource reservation associated with the second UE with a second priority value of a second side link resource reservation associated with the third UE. The IUC message may be sent to the second UE based on the first priority value being greater than the second priority value.
[0141] At 725, UE 115-o may send an IUC message. At 725-a, UE 115-o may send an IUC message to UE 115-p. At 725-b, UE 115-o may send an IUC message to UE 115-q. UE 115-o may send an IUC message indicating a conflict between the first side link resource reservation and the second side link resource reservation to a second UE (e.g., UE 115-p) or to a third UE (e.g., UE 115-q) based on a relationship between a first spatial filter for receiving a first side link resource reservation and a second spatial filter for receiving a second side link resource reservation. UE 115-o may send an IUC message indicating a conflict between the first side link resource reservation and the second side link resource reservation to the second UE or the third UE based on the first beam at least partially overlapping the second beam. The IUC message may include a Scheme 2 IUC message.
[0142] Additionally or alternatively, at 725-a, the IUC message may be sent to the second UE based on the first priority value being greater than the second priority value. UE 115-o may send the IUC message to a second UE (e.g., UE 115-p) using the first spatial filter based at least in part on the first UE using the first spatial filter to receive the first sidelink control message.
[0143] At 725-b, UE 115-o may send an IUC message to a third UE using the second spatial filter based at least in part on the first UE receiving the second side link control message using the second spatial filter. In some examples, UE 115-o avoids sending a second IUC message indicating a conflict between the third side link resource and the fourth side link resource based on the first beam at least partially not overlapping the second beam.
[0144] In some examples, UE 115-p or a second UE may use a second spatial filter to send a second side link control message including a third side link resource reservation, wherein both the first side link resource reservation and the third side link resource reservation are mapped to an IUC message opportunity. UE 115-p may then avoid monitoring resources of an IUC message opportunity for a second IUC message associated with the third side link resource reservation. In such examples, an IUC message indicating a conflict between the first side link resource reservation and the second side link resource reservation is received via resources of the IUC message opportunity.
[0145] In some examples, a first beam corresponding to the first spatial filter and a second beam corresponding to the second spatial filter are spatially separated. The first spatial filter and the second spatial filter may have different spatial receiver parameters.
[0146] In some examples, UE 115-o (e.g., first UE, UE-A) may use a third spatial filter corresponding to the first beam to receive a third side link control message indicating a third side link resource reserved by a fourth UE for transmission to the first UE. UE 115-o may use a fourth spatial filter corresponding to the second beam to receive a fourth side link control message indicating a fourth side link resource reserved by a fifth UE for transmission to a sixth UE, wherein the fourth side link resource at least partially overlaps with the third side link resource in time and frequency. UE 115-o may use the first spatial filter to receive the first side link transmission from the fourth UE via the third side link resource.
